Yea but they didn't get special rules for doing so like Sisters, Deathwatch and Grey Knights did
One thing that always amuses me about 9th edition is the following bit of overkill specific to Word Bearers.
You have…
(A) A warlord trait that gives the character the possessed keyword.
(B) You can take demonic possessed weapons upgrade as a weapons artefact.
So yes, somewhere out there, there is a Word Bearers Chaplain who is not only possessed by one demon, but is also holding a weapon possessed by yet another demon
Or I've lost most of my Guard army
Just say the officers are Rogue Traders or Inquisitors XD
It’s literally a soup faction
All under cover
That’s the point
Well hands off my soup
It’s our soup and also I’m executing you for heresy because I don’t like your hat
You're just jealous and want to steal the hat off my corpse
Also it's a wig not a hat
Also for guard…why Scions when you have Kasrkin?
why would the scions being in the agents remove them from the guard?
Deathwatch got consolidated into their roster, so who knows
well the deathwatch as a whole exist purely to support the ordo xenos
but the SOB are their own faction as well as the chamber militant of the ordo hereticus
I think in essence, if GW feels something Imperial aligned isn’t selling enough, OR they have Imperial aligned Kill Teams that do not justify a full codex (or added to an existing one)
They get shoved into Agents
i see
Basically I just want to be able to put the new Scion units into my Guard army alongside my existing Scions, without having to worry about Imperial Agent rules
have the guard got their 10e codex?
Not yet
hopefully the scions will still be part of it then
Hopefully
Because Kasrkin are Cadian only
We should find out next week, whatever the results.
Ah fair point.
Also Scions are just cooler than Kasrkin
I like both but regardless
Yea I like both too
Inquisition both make sense anyways as options
That’s half the fun of the inquisition
just yoinking whoever you need from the other factions of the imperium to make a frankenstine army
It would be out of character for GW to do this.
But maybe both codices get them, with altered keywords.
Sounds like my average mid game black crusade character tbh lol
Idk if they’ll make specific rules for those but they’ll be easy proxies at least
Sounds exactly like what they're doing with sisters and grey knights lol
Don't world eaters have dudes with 8 demons shoved in them?
And more friendly
I imagine we'll see a lot more units under "requisition" than the initial post showed
Imagine if they'd made a Scion Battleforce, that would be a quick sell because of how damn expensive those bastards are to collect
if said demons are fleshhounds then you could say they have 8 wolves inside them :P
By lore perhaps, but reading by rules wise the craziest you could get was 2 back in 9th edition.
Of course, if going the narrative route, nothing stops you from saying all your Possessed Marines have multiple demons shoved into them.
There are two wolves inside you
Both are gay
lol
Yea World Eaters have Eightbound, Berzerkers that have eight Daemons posessing them at once
And if the individual is able to overpower the eight Daemons and become the dominant personality they become Exalted Eightbound
They're certainly very angry
The key is you pick eight bitchass daemons
lol
I dunno how eightbound managed to not look like chaos spawn after being ganged possessed by eight daemons
Believe it or not this is fairly common amongst word bearers
I’m on vaca rn and I see this in the Distance
lol
Hey
Hello
I need some help atm, you guys are decent problem solvers right??
Well I wouldn't say that...
But you would be able to develop a quick solution that could be an ever so developing situation...
Depends what said situation is
Right
Sooooooooo
Earlier in July, or I would say late June... We had a wicked Thunderstorm
It like took out part of a tree and was a bit of a bitch to clean up before the fourth...
I love world eaters
Damn bro going for vacation to ultramar??
But that's not the least weird bit about it tho
Say hi to robot girlyman from me
Krakkin warp storms
clears throat
Anyway, a couple weeks later things were getting more weird. I don't know if it was the storm or fireworks on the 4th but I think there's some sort of critter(s) hiding in my house.
In the late nights I hearing scratching in the walls and I'm like "the mice got in the house again
But then I'm finding weird shit in and around the garage
Last week I found some half eaten carcasses and such. And I'm here like wtf is in my home!!??!?
All I do know is that it tore away through this makeshift barrier me and my dad made when we first moved into the house, to keep the mice out.
So then I came up with an idea
What if we bait and trap the buggers that's skittering in my house
So two nights ago I got some dried meat and set up a basic rodent trap in the garage.
Nothing really took the bait until last night
All I heard was a snap and then some infernal screeching like a bat out of hell
Then the screeching stopped
With my bat in hand, I went to the garage and flipped the garage light on.
Idk wtf it is but I did take a picture of it though.
(Perhaps spoiler the pic, my suggestion)
lol
OK I confess
ngl you had me going there
agreed
I smashed em with my bat, but idk what they are...
(Also yes today's lore small/medium topic discussion is about tyranids thingy ma bob)
Hence why I'm coming to you for answers
But assuming the whole tree toppling part is genuine - I do hope that has not caused too much trouble
It was a pain to chop up, but we got firewood out of it...
Anyway.....
First topic question: where did they come from? Do they have a home planet or something??

There the extent of what we know also
There’s some stuff which implies some elements were in the Milky Way before but that’s it really we don’t know
officially like
Yee
I'm presuming it wasn't under peaceful terms
there is no such thing as peace regarding tyranids
Ah
So did we always call them tyranids or do they call themselves by another name?
They got called that because the planet they were discovered
Was called Tyran
A Magos collected a ton of data as they attacked
And managed to pit it in a salvageable container
The Imperium found the world destroyed and located his data cache
So they’re called Tyranids now
Oh
Kryptman was the first person to discover this
So was tyran an farm world or densely pop. World?
Ocean world
Lots of sea life like giant squid’s and stuff
Ooooh
It had a Ad Mech Explorator station on it
Which is what gathered the data
The had noticed a strange trend of local worlds being found completely barren
With no known cause
Mmm hmmm
There was probably other encounters before but that was the first recorded one
So do they have their own stake of territory?
Mostly no they don’t settle on worlds
In the galaxy
So they're like "pac-maning" it across the galaxy??
basically
Second topic question: I terms of like "Hierarchy" is there an official overlord of the tyranids or what's their pecking order?
they are a hive mind
There’s bigger badder ones
With more autonomy
The Swarmlord being the main big kahuna
He’s a separate consciousness the hive mind calls in to adjust strategy for major conflicts
But Hive Tyrants are similar
the norn queens would be the highest bioform in the hierarchy
And other equivalents
They are basically an RTS faction, their "leader" is an unseen entity since they are a Hivemind, its like you controlling pieces on a game board
down to even gathering resoruces when boots on the ground for more advanced units

Synapse creatures in general lead the others and are protected by more elite bioforms
But yeah it’s not really like
A pecking order so much as an organism
With different roles
So can they like use technology?? How do they travel the galaxy??
afaik we still dont know if the hive mind is a single unimaginably powerful intellect or just a collection of all the minds of the tyranids
They’re slow and dont work near big bodies in space
All their "equipment" is bio-organic stuff
even guns
and the ammo in some cases
imagine the Hivehand from Half Life
The Nids main weakness is how slow their FTL is
There’s a funny case of a nid which has a big gun on it which is smarter than the creature holding it
Its great, i love it
even the bullets are alive
mostly
unless its firing like solid projectile organ parts of itself
lol
isnt the "gun" a parasite that controls the blind bioform?
They shoot acid and shit a lot, or as said actual living small bugs
worms that can eat through ceramite
Never played halflife..
some tyranids even have acid blood
Big shame
Depends from Nid to Nid
every one of their guns has a unique thing to it since they are all alive to some extent
even the swords of Tyrants got fucking brains in them lol
oh i was talking about this new gaunt i heard about on adric recently
I think the Neurogaunts are blind, with a brain bug on their back which guides them
things blind and has a big gun parasite attactched to it that allows it to see
iirc they said its main role is to screen the bigger bioforms and help protect them
Yeah its the Neurogaunt she mentioned above
ok
Right third topic question:
Given that they're an invasive species (ON FUCKIN STEROIDS), how do they "wine and dine", aka fight and consoom the galaxy..
I think there's another blind one with a Gun, because Neurogaunts are melee
There’s also one which is blind, but it’s gun leads it around
They just convert biomass and shit
Also don’t think about it Morty
Nids break a lot of laws of conservation and physics already
Oh Barbgaunts
to be fair
their invasion process is explained in great detail
its just a bit expansive lol
once they take over the world they start munching up everything and throwing it and most of the tyranids into big pools of acid that desolves it al down and this giant pillars suck up the pools into the hive ships in orbit, they also have giant bioforms made to suck up the air and oceans
They're blind and the gun parasite on their shoulder see's for them
yes that
Barbgaunts
Their energy conservation will always be pretty goofy but it’s what it is, without it the faction doesn’t work
Space magic bullshit or whatever you wanna call it
So how do they find their next meal ticket?
Various ways
By just randomly travelling or through Genestealer cult signals
Genestealer cults are one main source
Genestealers set up on generally high population worlds
In the universe with literal space orks its like the least goofy thing tbh
also again completely alien faction, its not like they follow our rules when it comes to army manufacturing and managing much
I think what makes it worse is they try to explain it
well yeah
40k authors are stupid

its why stuff like Narhvals stick out so much
you can literally tell
one of those mfers
opened a science book
and just headcannon some shit they read from it
Someone read inertialess engines one time in a theory article and then didn’t look up how they’d work at all for Necrons
But it does sound cool
And doesn’t read
worst part is it can actually effect lore lol
I cannot fucking believe the 15 Hours guardsman lifespan thing from that one book became official lore years later, holy shit
So when they begin their "all you can eat buffet" how do they deal with the more "living" O'rd diervs (anyone with a functional brain and can throw a rock)? (In simple terms) What are they're combative structures, units and ranks.
Fortunately I have the power of “Lore Hypocrisy: This unit can ignore lore it doesn’t like and justify head canon with barely relevant details and huge leaps of inference.”
wait what
WHERE
IS THIS FUCKING SAID

It’s mentioned in uh
It was on a fucking rulebook
Guard codexes
WHICH ONE
Yeah that
It’s stupid and ignore it

In reality the 15 hours thing is like
from that one book
on that one specific planet
Yep
but its passed around as actual lore
same with "HUEHUE FLASHLIGHTS"
shut the fuck up 💀
Same, its dumb.
I will cherry pick this time
Either way I’m ignoring it, don’t care GW can suck it. Same as Abnett saying a force of like 1,500 guardsmen is enough to “take worlds”
Yeah maybe some world with no one fucking there
a world with like
Lemme rephrase the question, what combative units do they have when dealing with more aggressive biomass like the alien weebs or the Imperium?
1 city
Literally
Generally speaking Gaunts and Warriors are enough to overwhelm any planet that isn't heavily fortified
Everything they use
Hmm
Nids have a lot of varities

gaunts are the most common by far as a combat "unit"
Most of the special stuff we see doesn’t come up much
What kind of bio form thing, would be considered an absolute world ender?
Or the break them out for special cases
individually? none
Even their best stuff biotitans are pretty bad as a single titan
They can just make a bunch
Hive tyrants generally are like
the end all be all if the nids want to finish it off
mostly since they're good strategists and coordinators
Nids kinda exemplify quantity over quality
the exemplify good enough quality in huge quantity
a nid warrior might be less skilled then a Marine but its just as tough and stubborn
and there's like
10x more of them
So for the Imperium, who do you think is more specialized in dealing with the tyranids within either the Militarum/Navy or whatever faction of the Space Marines
and if its a prime warrior it can body most marines easily
tbf a Tyranid Prime is like
them things are scary
They all do different things
broadly speaking Deathwatch is good at dealing with nids
they are basically mini hive tyrants right?
lore wise yeah
they're smarter, faster, stronger, have a whole chunk of knowledge they can pull from
and they just look like a Warrior with slightly fancier chitin lol
But who's most definitely is a:
"Kill tyranids,
Stomp tyranids,
Roundhouse kick tyranids,
Throw tyranids in lava, etc. etc"
Ultramarines probably
they were the biggest bulwark against them during the first few invasions.
also got literal Tyrannic War Veterans units
even if they dont exist on tabletop anymore they are sitll a thing in the lore
They literally have an entire veteran group dedicated to murdering nids yeah
the 5th company also
is dedicated to murdering them
they have a unit of vets that are basically monster hunter players lol, cover their armor in tyranid trophies
I think their symbol is literally a Tyranid warriors head impaled on a sword lol
yeah they are not good eating
very subtle about what they like doing
Ok
My favorite faze clan
To put it into perspective
tyranids got micro-organisms in literally everything
even their blood
Tyranid blood is extremely poisonous yeah
Also their flesh is poisonous
Yeah when they fight orks tyranid organisms even fight ork spores in a microscopic level
The idea of eating the tyranids back sounded better in my head... Tbh
as i said some will even evolve acid blood that can melt a person in moments
its why when a tyranid invasion begins 80% of the time its game over
anytime someone wins against them its usually through bullshit

like suiciding a giant battleship into the hive fleet's center
or just plot
Blood Angels almost get wiped but we cant have that because they are a big boy chapter so random warp portal across the galaxy, GO
Deus Ex Kabhanda and great rift
btw are there feral tyranids on any of the worlds fought over during the tyranic wars?
yes
Fourth topic question: Time for some rather complicated questions.
In terms of tyranids diets does any form of biomass goes or do they have a peculiar taste?
its mostly when they are seperated and gotta reproduce
EVERY bio-organic thing
we are talking metal
ores
planet cores
they will eat an entire world until its basically inhospitable
even take the air
But metal isn't organics tho...
We eat iron and use it for stuff
those gaunts look a bit anorexic
I can't eat metal, Ogryns can't eat metal even if they try
Nids can use it but not as easily
exactly, they eat minerals as well
Oh
Bionics aren’t as immediately useful for them
It requires more work
But they can use them
So like nutritional stuff
It’s how Lucius starved them eventually
Forgeworld Lucius
They kept sending mostly metal servitors out which would destroy more biomass than they had on them
Has other exenos encountered the tyranids as well??
Dont forget the absolutely crazy David Gallagher concept art for the Tyrannic Vets that never got made
And recovered the metal parts
Wait what the murder bugs are canonically nids?
what murder bugs
The megarachnid
I know i just misread eters message
Fenrisian Krakens and Catachan Devils have some link but it’s distant
Has other xenos encountered tyranids as well??
Everyone has
Why wouldnt they?
Notice how they are also coming from below the galaxy
the 4th Tyrannic war has them coming from above as well
if only they bothered doing a fucking map to show it

Da fak
Source?
Uhhh
i thought space was just the sea
Portal 2
I don't have a PhD in space study so I won't question how that works
since they like naval battles so much
Its...
space is literally space
we are one single planet floating in it
Only flat spacers in this chat, globe spacecels get out
which i still wonder what that means for the carcharodons astra
The main answer is, thinking in that many dimensions is hard
^
also complicated for 40k writers
its why every space engagement is one dimension lol
well, two
as they hunt in the space that is above the galaxy aka the place the nids can in from this time
here in the imperium we have BROARDsides on our combat vessels because AS YOU KNOW there is no third dimension in void combat
I mean, a broadside can sorta work in space if your foes are all over the place, just move em
Right, so if the Imperium is mid Battle with idk elf looking aliens. Would they call a temporary truce when tyranids come in all like. "HEY, HEY, HEY!" (In Fat Alberts voice)
Uhh
depends on the craftworld eldar
and the Imperium faction
they either do a temporary avengers assemble and win or just get eaten
or they just dont do a temporary truce and get eaten
win-win for Nids
I wouldnt mind a xenos team up more often in general
There is the occasional book there they describe stuff like corkscrewing and stacking from multiple vectors but
Its too hard in 40k compared to Fantasy or AOS since literally everyone is a super-racist lol
Mostly everyone agrees to treat it like the sea
Cause it’s more fun
And easier to picture
I forgot it has to be written well, oh shucks then.
Me when my sci-fi fleet has to go to any direction in space that isnt forward and my opponent is the Imperial navy
The Tyranids are the main faction which has united the most. Necrons and Blood Angels, Scions and Tau, Guard and Orks, Imperium and Eldar
It doesn’t always happen but
They’re a good unifier
Sidenote: is there a slang/slur for tyranids.
There’s a specific scion regiment who work extensively with Tau to combat Nids and Orks in a mixed area of space where the Imperium borders the Tau
Bugs
Your mom
Far enough
Since whatever you say is probably true or undercutting it
they don't give a shit
Ok
Nids, thats basically it
people use it in-universe too
Ah
Im glad your taking notes, this is serious stuff i tell you
The great devourer is another term
Devour deez nu-
So is there anything the "nids" don't want to fuck with.
I mean if an author is making a story of nids in the perspective of a citizen, they can write new slang for them or something
the only shit they avoid is like
Necrons I guess
Lol
when the hivemind deems an effort "not worth it"
Necrodermis isn’t edible
Bugzakidum!
If Necrons are enough of an issue
Get out the chat Bardin
Then they’ll eat them
Dilara do you though Jace is sad that Laenor isn’t his dad, because it makes his relationship with Baela almost not incestuous and thus much less hot?
Asking for a friend
Right so can a nid be really and devour a whole world like a fat man inhaling a hoagie?
Can you ask like a real question
Well maybe a small world
Hes being inquisitive, be nice
SHUT UP
Me_IRL
I also had a realisation that to Jace and Luce's perspective Aemond said "You'll die screaming in fire like your father" and then the next day Laenor burns to death.
WHICH PRIMARCH BEST REPRESENTS EACH HIVE FLEET (billionth 40klore reddit post)

Lawful Good W
Bruh
Smh
“Horus said if dorn would be a bug, he would bug the bug out of him for a bug millienium years”
Mfw we’re in the 47364484th question in 40k lore which can be answered by “it depends” of the day
Running out time rn, what are gene stealers and how do they operate?
Basically
from limos
Just give me a crash course
Hey guys, do people in 40k smoke weed?
Whose goal is to setup the world for the hive fleet
They kiss you and you become infected then your kids will be monsters until they loop around to being human ish
That would be le epik
I’m gonna smoke you in a second here
Me when im a Genestealer Cultist and my opponent is a Enforcer who abused my family for like 2 decades
But yes
There’s drugs which is basically weed
That was a bit
Can these "gene stealers" infect any sentient organic being?
Kind of
(Unfortunately the blast was too small and you only confused him)
As far as we know
they prefer humanoid targets that can breed fast
Too bad
humans are the perfect target
They can give the kiss to anything
We got the dank 420 doobies in 40k
Ok, so if there's a ranking structure. Who's at the top of the hive cult?
Me
The genestealer patriarch
The patriarch
Oldest purestrain genestealer
below it is the usual psychic cult leaders, the Magus
aka either a bald scientology cunt
or a THICC mommy milfer cultist

If the patriarch dies it'll be the psykers until a new patriarch is born
Sounds heretical
I did not need to hear you call a magus a milf but here we are
Milfgus
Not MILF smh
I’ll be honest Dilara
Not old enough
I don’t wanna stick my dick in that
Hmm
I dont either but it definitely gave me a taste for bald women
Now the left guy

What those forehead wrinkles do though
me when i wanna date a bald chick and my date is Cassandra Nova
They make you sexy
How would any sentient faction be able to detect a nid fleet is coming to eat dat ass
There’s usually signs
They don’t mostly
But generally speaking
head wrinkles are not cribbed from klingon plz dont sue paramount
They’re so minor it’s way too late
By the time you do it’s often too late but they try to track their patterns
It’s just impossible to evacuate worlds
How does the cult ring the dinner bell?
The standard imperium doctrine is fight as much as you can then blown up the world once it’s lost
Psychic beacon
when everyone with even an ounce of psychic potential's heads explode
Or if you can’t fight blow up the world as they make planet fall
When they feel the power of the hivemind inside them
The shadow in the warp is a pretty good tel lol
You can tell the nods are coming because the inquisition will suddenly show up and nuke you
LOL
If you look out the window of your ship and see this
Was there any legendary nids or cultists that were truly feared?
There’s a good chance nid invasion is near
Old One Eye is one
Also the uh one Lictor
New one
Old one eye, the death leaper, the red terror
The Doom of whatever
As long as its not in my yard, i could care less about the invasion
The doom of malantai
very much an exception cause by and large the nids recycle their forces back into biomass when they move on
For genestealers there’s one specific kellermorph but they’re most likely not real
Most cultists get eaten when the fleet shows
^
Very rarely will they be deemed useful
But named tyranids are usually unique bioform
With something very uh
Distinct about them
Old one eye is too stupid too tough to die
Most are implied to be new iterations of the same thing too
Last one for now:
If an Ordo Xenos KNOWS, there's a hive cult festering in a hive city. How do they root them out? Do they do like an STD test or is the nid gene really undetectable
Should nids get the necron treatment? Give them personality or something
No
No, they fill a niche rn
And they do have personality
For the swarm lord specifically
It depends
How big is it
How extensive
My favorite line
If a whole cult is ravaging a planet they’ll try to just wipe out the whole hive mostly
Or blow up the world
Bro literally hid underground just so he could burst out the ground, impale a warboss and crack open his skull to eat
Because funny
GSC are a huge risk
On terra the custodes got involved
A single Genestealer getting away can doom a world
I think nids work rn because there’s no other mindless no personality faction
On other planets it's usually a exterminatus
by the time inquisition catches wind it's probably too late and you're looking at mitigation
They do catch cults early
or you're the inquistion purposefully infecting worlds in order to study them
Mmm, hmmm
But yeah there’s no real standard deal
If you catch a cult early it can be contained
Once it hits critical mass it’s usually too late
Cults try to stay underground for a reason
If they’re found the imperium is gonna put a lot of resources into wiping them out
they work because their driving motivation is the munchies, makes them one of the more relatable factions
Hungry
having multiple mindless factions was dumb when it was robot and animal varities, saturday morning cartoon stuff
newcrons was a matt ward triumph
I alsays found it weird how newer art shows them in a lot morr awkward positions of striking
No the brainless faction is the tau. So dumb for thinking your better off in the galaxy with friends
They kinda have to show it as a moshpit for the purposes of the art
They’re trying to show off multiple units
Yeah, but some of it just looks a bit awkward
Better quality
Like dude, a termie is like a breath away from you and yall have guns
You can kinda suspend you disbelif if they were showing it mid strike, but they are all just posing lol
The pathfinder really has the vibe of I hate my job
Like this piece
these guys gotta churn out dozens of these promo art pieces and 9/10 of them got some form of space marines in it so they probably rapidly exhaust options
Making the imperium look menacing and evil is my favorite
“Damn I thought this was gonna be my day”
The lack of eye glow for the marine visor makes them look so much creepier
Making them heroic always kinda looked weird to me, unless the art feels like it knows its in the bit
“Man this pulse carbine said it could pierce ceramite”
Most of the old adrian smith art has that vibe to the tea
the illuminated lasgun guardsmen looks 1 step away from joining chaos
Lewis Jones is probably my favorite 40k artist ever tbh
I agree
I don’t think there’s a single piece of art he’s made I’ve disliked
Adrian smith and karl kopinski are my faves
Banger after banger after banger
I love this piece, its so over the top and subdued at the same time you wouldn’t notice at first how his axes are breathing fire
barbed wire gag still goes hard tbh
Barbed nets
Cilice
I see
It's a self flagelation sort of thing
Of course, can't forget this masterpiece of an abaddon arthttps://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1162821226104881202/1173818599585095727/image0.jpg?ex=66a50a82&is=66a3b902&hm=9a47affa3fd586bda880dfcc553feb5f50c99c53f10ba5e5811ae301e60a389c&
Why aren't bolters used as sniper weapons in the Astra Militarum? I am aware that bolters have some pretty nasty recoil, but isn't the rocket propulsion designed to help the shell maintain trajectory for much longer than conventional bullets? Additionally, the rocket trail is much less likely to give away the sniper's position than a longlas beam
Gyro are not precise
Long Las is cheaper
And as they are rocket, they would tend to have trails
If they really want Snipers that are discrete they would go toward Neddle Rifle
The rocket thing is also mostly just kinda irreleavant
Since they just work like regular guns lol
We kinda are so used to most of the tech belonging to space Marines we forget most of there stuff if it weren't for politics and sanctions the guard would be riding rhinos by now
Smoke trails are less position-revealing than a bright red beam tho. If an enemy were to look at a bolter trail, they'd get the shooter's general direction, but there's still a lot of guessing on where the sniper's precise location is
The IG has proper projectile snipers too
If they need them
Ratlings a known to use special modified ones
With special ammo
Also bolters are used as rifles by guard specialists anyways
It’s just cheaper to use other options typically
I still find the concept to be kinda dumb due to the gun being "Hey enemies, here's my location if you want to return fire"
It has a flash hider don’t worry
Gottem
Generally they’re also not sniping like that
And IRL snipers can be found through dumb shit like scope glints
its whatever
Scope glint killing snipers more at 7
On a less related note, I love how it's technically not a crime to steal a xenos' weapons as long as a guardsman maintains his issued kit
Depends on the regiment and circumstances how much it’s enforced
If you’re a Mordian
Lol
Expelled
Well you probably wouldn’t even try
I have the Imperial Infantryman's handbook, and nothing on its list of crimes doesn't mention anything about looting non-Chaos enemies
But a Salvar Chem Dog?
It Depends™
that thing is outdated by like 20 years
Also the book is propaganda
why would it mention alien gear
it also actively says they are worse than your equipment
which is also a massive lie
But Bolters aren't really that precise.
There are snipers rifles that the IG use, Longlas, Ballistic Rifles and Neddle Rifle
also afaik the inquisiton are the ones enfocing the whole no using the weapons of the enemy stuff
You know, considering how kinda suspect us rejects are and we are above the law by default
its not the Inquisition
its more a societal thing
why use the "shitty" gear of the enemy
Commissars and the Quatermasters
lol
I wouldn't mind some new, xenos, weapons....
“Sir I found this Baneblade all by itself, locked up in the Cadians fort, guarded by 40 men. This counts as salvage right?”
I thought that the lack of rules against xenos weapons was more or less the Departmento Munitorum acknowledging how outgunned your average guarsdsman is relative to an Eldar Guardian or Tau Fire Warrior
Hell no
The Munitorum actively lies to guardsmen about it all lol
the entire uplifting primer is suppose to be a comedy fest for you the IRL reader
There enough in the Imperial armoury to not need Xenos weapon, as they would be difficult to explain on how we get them
Also realistically
You’re not gonna have a good time using xenos guns
Lack of ammo, sometimes you literally can’t
^ Its also a parody of WW2 Instruction manuals given to stuff like U.S troops heading to Europe.
You can search shit on youtube like how they say the "MG42 is not lethal at all, simply rush it"
At minimum, I would like a needler, which is technically xenos tech
Its not
I imagine it'd take fewer center mass shots to kill a guardian with a shurikan catapult than it would a Lasgun
imperials make needleguns too
It’s a lot safer to just tell your dudes to never use it
Like maybe they could use a couple Eldar guns ok but
@storm jungle don't you have the one that compare the Imperial air ship vs a Xenos one ?
Good chance it goes wrong and there’s not much ammo anyways
Uhh not at hand no
Unless your a rouge trader or work with an inquisition having xeno tech is an instant execution
'll try to fing it
The ammo justification is probably the hardest one
Because they literally can't fire?
They are safety hazards too
Beyond that
They’re often not that good
^
the fact that book exists at all in universe is a perfect example of just how fucking incompetent the imperium is on the grand scale
Ork guns are like
Chaos weapons would fall under "Heresy" which is covered by the Uplifting Primer section
Really shit
Again
On average
Next were gonna quote rogue trader as canon
Given an Ork's size, wouldn't real life equivalent ammo be .50 AE for Shoota/Slugga, and .50 BMG for Big Shoota/Dakka Deffgun?
Orks guns use any sort of ballistic ammo
so it depends lmao
But if you do call 1-800-“BellyCawl”
A lot of Orks aren’t that big but they can be unwieldy yeah
Tau? Maybe some kroot jezzails?
The main this is it’s a dumb idea
Tau, Eldar and Kroot weapons are probably the most usable ones
Looting a necron gun is a terrible idea
That shit is heavy as hell
Don’t some eldar guns require you to be a psyker to use
This guy wants to use kroot jezz as a weapon
Correcto
I forget which ones are “normal” and which ones aren’t
Also shuriken guns dump ammo fast as fuck
Mostly some basic melee weapons and shurikens
Eldar weapons are really only usable once, since they have a physical trigger that they can use in case a mon'keigh manages to sever the wielder's psychic link to the weapon. They don't have a physical magazine release however
Not the case for all
I don’t think a fusion pistol even has a mag
Also you know Drukhari guns
Lol
Drukhari aren’t psykers they don’t count
It Depends™

Do those have safeties in place to enable continued firing in case of a psychic link being severed?
no
eldar are too skilled to need safety buttons
lol
There’s a reason we mostly only see inquisitors and rogue traders with these guns, they’re expensive as fuck to get, learn to use, source the ammo, and also be sanctioned to do all this
Id love to steal a phaseblade
What if an Eldar just forgets trigger discipline?
I want to steal a drukhari gun
I hope rannick becomes a traitor so I can loot his revolver
They got psychic warmasks for that reason
Now that is a cool weapon to have
I know basic grunt weapons have the aforementioned safety buttons and those would still be an admittedly temporary upgrade from the common lasgun
Wait the masks do things?
I mean again nobody would allow you to use them
they are alien weapons
they are everything your superiors teach you to hate
Ahh
Eldar guardians put on a “war mask” to make the killing easier
And even then it just takes one marine or inquisitor who decides they don’t like you using those guns despite being sanctioned
Basically it’s a lot of trouble, just use grav pistols nerd
But craftworld eldar generally do not like killing humans
Codex grav guns
My beloved
An easy case against you everytime you fuck up
Oh so it separates their personal feelings from the warfare?
Its a psychic warmask placed over the guardian units which are the semi-skilled foot soldiers of craftworlds that act as standing militaries and also militia forces made from common eldar.
They tend to gather around skilled psykers like warlocks or farseers which place a psychic "mask" over you so you dont get PTSD or have trauma from war encounters since eldar are very emotionally sensitive. The idea of killing sentient beings (unless its like total monsters) can upset them for most craftworld denizens
I see I see
That why guardsmen can still land a lucky shot to the dome?
Me, looking at this peasants who can’t afford to just dual wield grav pistols and solo titans
Pathetic
Not really.
For the Xenos/Imperial tech
I'm glad you understood her completely
Realistically speaking Eldar guardians shred most guard units lol
it takes like 1-3 shots from a shuriken rifle to kill someone, depending on where you are shot from
are Ulthway's guardians like that or are they different given the craftworld's history?
Yeah they are a permanent standing army in that case
they do still need the mask?
mostly since Ulthwe is stuck orbiting the Eye of Terror
yes
but it has a more passive effect in their case
Yep, and I assume with how much weaker the lasgun is, I'm p sure a guardsman might get the idea of "If you see an enemy weapon, take it because it's much better than ours"
Oh no guys the Eldar are attacking!
GUYS WATCH OUT
But you don't have ammo for it, don't know how it work...
HEY YOU STOLE MY FUCKING DISK AMMO
stub guns are great
Has a trigger. Magazine can't be removed. Good for a few shots. Probably the main things a guard really needs to understand when using a stolen Eldar gun
It makes sense; its an emotional inhibitor as well as a thing that allows for proper gun handling for combat.
literal cartoon revolver
Me when a Imperiumnut has to learn other faction lore

Cave Johnson ahh quote
Tbf I know so little of the eldar
They're pretty neat
Sure, but now you need to be able to aim it
I just know "Space elf ninja inspired evangelion based--moderate emotions enjoyers"
Evangelion is just for their titans
Yep yep
In reality their culture is like greek, gaelic, japanese, hindu etc
theres a ton of shit
Oh also exodites
Exodites aren’t real
Dammit....
can a craftworld eldar become a drukhari or is there an actual biological difference between the two?
I want a gw dinosaur toy
God that's cool as fuck
Yes absolutely in any case
Craftworld eldar (asuryani) can become dark eldar (drukhari) and vice versa
Mfw your twin brother dies under mysterious circumstances and now the seer council is telling you to get in the wraith knight
Lizardmen/Seraphon
No scope, but the iron sights are... workable, if imprecise.
Cock rifle
Good luck killing an aspect warrior
I think the scoped ones would be much less usable, cuz those might link to a helmet HUD rather than be a physical glass that you put your eye through
They're probably naturally gifted at aiming anyway
Even with an ironsight you're supposed to use range setters
Lmao
Cock scope
if the eldar are like fantasy elves they have eyes that see like 2 miles away lol
Mfw you’re sad about your lack of space dwarf lore but then you remember there’s two Eldar factions suffering worse with models and lore
Idk most of their models are pretty great
Clowns and wood elf’s
Votann aren't real
Pretty much
They don't exist
their biology is literally alien so
Votaan vs Exodites, please GW....
Eldar have good lore, they just have bad books lol
I was thinking Ynarri but clowns works too
Ynnari doesnt exist
DAMN YOU GAV
Oof
and nobody cares about them, not even eldar fans
+Exodites
(If we want we can add Sea Elves but that's cheating, and the Malerion's one)

Yeah clowns are honestly a plot device more then anything
Gay thorn strikes again
Gav should write more dark angels books
They’re cool when they show up
