I don't remember the IG having any tbh
"Outside of the Space Marines and Adepta Sororitas, storm bolters are utilized by few elite Imperial forces"
Lex
Only elites that can handle the recoil tend to use them
Doesn't mean that it's common or at least less rare
I didn't say it was common
I'm just saying that normal humans can use it
I'd say it's still more rare than Heavy Bolters
You used to be able to to give your Veteran Sgts Storm Bolters
But that was done away with a few editions ago
Thanksfully
that is a lot bigger than the one Yarrick used
that one seems like it would be more hand held by a space marine or a Terminator
Yeah there’s varying sizes
They’re not common, but you do see them mounted on vehicles and stuff
For gunners and what not
Yea they're mostly mounted on vehicles now
There’s examples like Yarrick and other “normal” humans using them but imagine those miniaturized versions are quite rare
Isn't a bolter pistol different to a bolter?
Its just a bolter but semi auto(normally)
yeah it's basically a semi automatic bolter that is smaller and packs less punch
and ofc its a pistol where as the bolter is a rifle
Still plenty mind you
beyond that its the same 2 stage gyrorocket rounds
its the same round
not really less punch
It doesn't use a smaller caliber?
no
well that's fun
But most of the time it's just a smaller less magazine version of a bolter
yeah, smaller, more compact, less ammo, not automatic
They're also rarer/more expensive
then a normal bolter iirc
How is a smaller version of the gun more expensive
Sometimes the logistics in this shit confuse me
harder to manufacture, needs more precise machining
aight i'll buy it
Do Bolter have Rifling
Guardsmen don't usually have side arms
the officers do afaik
Only their Lasgun and some melee weapons, like Catachan Swords
Officers do often have Laspistol, Plasma Pistol, Bolt Pistols
All Bolter in 40k use 0.75 rounds
Heavy Bolter use 0.9, then there are even higher sized rounds but those aren't used by Infantry (unless you take Knights as infantry I guess)
in more standard terms a bolter is a 20mm where as the heavy is a 25mm
so one is an anti-material rifle and the other is a bushmaster autocanon lol
Do note that we don't know the length of the rounds, which can also change the rounds effects
as they are gyrorockets the size of the on board motor is also important
they do, at least the common patterns. The bolt rifles absolutely do
stuff like the Godwyn
Jess goodwyn pattern boltah
Lol
4e Beasts of Chaos lore starts off with Beastmen genocide
into the remaining beastmen running off into hiding
beasts of chaos are going to be back in 5e or late 4e for sure lol
They did it the classic the disrespect
The part where they absolutely don't care about the beast of chaos
"the beastmen are not finished"

This is like
the most obvious bait for an army rerelease ever
How drunk would you get for doing a shot challenge where you take a shot every time the beastmen get disrespected in lore
Bro
you would literally die
Just reading the novel of gotrek and felix is probably enough to put you in the hospital for alcohol poisoning
Beastmen are a faction made to get shit on
^
They’re inherently subservient to Chaos and very few are worth a damn
They got more respect in AoS then WHFB lol
even with the recent fucking beastman genocide
What did gw mean by slaughtering the furry faction
But yeah it's absolutely hilarious how they get railroaded more than Nagash
They are like so low level enemies that it's actually sad and funny
Makes killing them all the more fun
Fighting standard bearers in vermintide is great fun
It’s kinda hard to push the animal people who live in the forests and sometimes form hordes as anything but that.
From what little ive read they seem to be inbetween skaven and orks, but like, chaos.
it's an optional pintle mount weapon for a lot of vehicles
Something like that
very good for clearing hordes coming too close to your leman russ
I wonder if Commissars have to pay out of pocket for their bolt pistols.
doubt it
They choose their loadouts
To some degree
Chain sword and bolt pistol is fairly standard but it’s not their only choice
And if they are really special
They can even use special weapons not normally used by commissars
Power swords would be more something given or bought or earned
Dont commissars get the greenlight to get iron halos?
power swords are common for commissars but i feel like they go for chainswords for the brutal look
Most don’t but some might
Probably doesnt look good for them
Yarrick literally has a power claw which is a xenos weapon not usually allowed to be used by a human but he's so good at doing what he does they let him to keep it
fun fact cadian castellans, which represent generic general units, can use full on bolters
infantry sgt's got nerfed to using mag fed autoguns
Bolters arent that uncommon
guardsmen are used in the tens of thousands on the regular
Same as guardsmen having plasma
Infact most SM vehicles arent that uncommon too, i recall in imperial armor you use to be able to field a relic predator
They’re not gonna give them to everyone, they’re gonna give them to a skilled user for when it’s needed
This might be a silly question, but has anyone ever dual wield Las pistols before?
it's like a machine screw costing 1$ compared to 0.1$
it doesnt seem like a lot but when you produce a million it adds up
Mostly not in lore but not because lack of ability
No reason why it shouldnt exist
But because laspistols are kinda…lame you know
They’re gonna give them something cooler if they do that
Yes. Theres no rule against it.
Yeah these things are not going to punch through a lot of stuff
generally pistols are melee weapons in 40k. swords and such just do that job better, look cooler and imagine running out of ammo as you're being swarmed by nids
You could have a lot more shots.
Even an ork Ard'boy will just push through las pistol fire like it's nothing
Bro my guy asked an akimbo question and yall are mentioning the most unnecessary details 💀
Substituting it with a very strong armor piercing weapon would be a good trick

There’s a rule for Blackshield Moritats dual wielding las guns in the heresy rules and it’s actually super strong because he can fire an absurd amount of times
I like talking
He asked if anyone has
So technically you answered wrong nerd
no
explode
i answered
I recall destroyers do dual wield chem bolters too
I cast read every single dan abnett book in existence
And the original the boys comic
Abnett is a lot worse
technically dreadnoughts dual wield guns if you want
WHAT DO DREADS HAVE TO DO WITH THIS

Abnett books are enjoyable
I can one up this
My brother in raccoon he asked if a human can dual wield pistols
Thorpe books make me wanna Roblox’s myself
Tbh, the only character that I can think of who dual wields is Cypher
Not the giant tank killing machine
dreadnought are controlled by humans
Cypher is the main dude
Very well you should read both nick and Thorpe's books
Thorpe is definitely worse than abnett
Every single one no question
Read every single royalty free story and there interpretations
I just can't remember he uses two bolter at once or something else.
Destroyers
Read all 40k labeled fanfic on every nsfw fanfic site
Dilara just has ptsd from the end and the death
More like the puke and the mid
How the hell did the hrus heresy story take this long
Abnett is really overrated as fuck is the thing
They weren't just milking it they were just feeding at drugs at this point
also like
People like spehss marines 🙂
My Ultramarines can dual wield for sure
That is a very specific
proof:
Thing to hate
I don’t trust anyone from a country named after a bird they don’t even have smh
I agree that he's overrated
damn that's cool
Beautiful
Hes a good author but the meatriding is insane

i see you fell for the rule breaking side that i try not to fall into
It's not meat riding it's basically buffalo mounting at this point
Like so many people hype up this guy
Inspiring.
Most of the people meat riding him don’t even read anyways
They dont even read in general
Proxying is for cool people
it's not rule breaking per se, ruleswise he can have an astartes chainsword and a heavy bolt pistol, he just happens to have two and of which he will only use one per shooting phase
get his ass Jerk
it's not proxying it's just using the two bolt pistol arms that arent supposed to be used together lol
He's just idolised by the same people that ships Gman and Yvraine
LOL
Theres varying degrees of braindead to those people
but not too far off
Skin jay and make a hat out of the corpse
Aka people who have never read a 40k book
im a bit of a bad boy and used both the plasma pistol and the bolt pistol but my painting is not even 1% of your power
Please
Primarch fan boys 🤮
It's just internet circlejerk and hype-up at this point
Never call yourself a bad boy again
im a bad boy
BRUH
Or herself
i will pay kendrick lamar all the money i have if it means he's going to write a diss track about you
me when someone asks me to summarize HH
Man this is some deep 40k lore 🙂
SDFŞSDFSDFDS
Welcome to Lore chat where we beat up a random guy for being weird
As it should be
Is there such a thing as a Combi-las bolter?
Multilasers
Cause that could be lame af
The question is why
You can ask @storm jungle for more information how we use hammers to beat someone to death
Like why tho
Same reason why any imperial weapon exists
why do we have a power chainfix
why do we have a combi-plasma-flamer
etc lol
Because its cool
To rip while tearing ofc
Start saying “hey can you do a combi grav and volkite gun?”
Bingo
A las combi isnt
combi grav gun
It exists
rarest imperial weapon
ITS LITERALLY the least goofy gun idea in 40k
Yes it is because it’s not cool
Okay.
And 40k is rule of cool
just like you nerd
Where is my Storm plasma?
why does this not so big terminator man have a hand that violates someone's way of life three ways with a punch
funniest shit is the idea that a combi bolter can be two bolters strapped together as a poor man's storm bolter
Sounds like me when im with your mom
Tbh, that's how the first smg work.
what
HE SAID THATS HOW THE FIRST SMG WORK
Ah the first smg, a four barreled shotgun.
The first SMG.
wasnt the first smg the MP18
It was actually something more standard issues
are you talking about the villar perosa because that wasnt an smg
bruh

funny now bend over because i will shove a USB stick to your brain that will upload all of the information about the history of GW and marvel and the connection of war thunder about government weaponry funding
Yeah
Tbh there’s probably a couple “first smgs” since so many nations were making them at the same time
Even with that your still getting a new sibling buddy
And some of the records for that process aren’t the best
i already have a sibling that one is gonna be nothing new, and maybe you are going to do something your father is probably proud of for once
the "first" of every type of gun was made in some guy's shed 5 years before the first production model was created
Oof deep cuts
Whatever you’ve done with firearms, some redneck in Appalachia did ten years earlier and much less safe
And he used it first on squirrels and raccoons
He would love it if i had multiple babes, so if you dont mind, im busy getting more, and your about to be also because im not taking responsibility for the baby 😁
you make people like drake proud
amazing
Tfw you make a gun so good the first time people use it for 100+ years after without much updating
If Kendrick Lamar meet you he would dedicate a whole new disstrack
Well no shit
And it’s been updated a fair bit and isn’t used as much anymore
Same as the 1911
But still
i think the US navy still uses the M2HB a shit ton
The core of it is extremely solid
Gun culture is just so over saturated now saying you like guns is like coming out as a weeb in like 2012
Tbh, the MG42 is still in use somewhat.
Gun culture has been a thing for like
if there's a culture to liking gunsmithing and weapons development then keep it away from me
it's just fun
Since way before weebs were even a concept
Yeah but like everything, its in another phase of its life
america is based on gun culture and i say that in a jealous way
And it’s currently in the cringe phase
fuckers got eugene stoner and john moses browning
Maybe if you’re a stick in the mud
Ive seen all of those gun tubers
Cant take em seriously with how much they larp as military men
I like him but i think behind the scenes he is an ass, treated in range TV like shit
A fair amount are former military
Most ive seen arent
My favorite is the glock 1911
that's a popular one
My favourite is the Sten family.
Amazing that glock managed to collab with colt
a generic double barrel shotgun is mine
i will not meme and say that single shot weapons following the development of the brass cartridge but RIGHT before the usage of bolt actions are my favorite weapons
ah the Glockinator
Thats fair
They look weird and cool
I wish TAB was still around.
these include the martini henry modified for 308. by the british military, the berdan family and springfield trap door
My favorite pistols looks wise are definitely the borcharct, the schwarzlose pistols, and maxim silverman
I like the hip tacticool ones
i am a sucker for single shot weapons
also large boolet
one day i will own a magnum research BFR
but i will probably have to leave my shitty country
I can understand that.
average iron warriors weapon
Need more hazard stripes
i dont know who both of these character are
Dirty Perty and Shinji from Eva
Cmon Jay you should know these
Well you a furry so nvm
Spit On That Thang 💦

lol

Ah the Jay beat down never ends
supreme bruh moment
god fucking damn it i didn't have time to model today
the legally distinct gamma ray pistol remains unfinished
art takes time
cannonically possible...
have there been any recorded nut-punches in 40k lore
or is that a dark martial technique lost to time
testicles arent often mentioned
groin could be the upper leg
This brings joy for some reason
hello chat
That's a new one to me
My leg!
Basically just a way to write that in a serious fight without it sounding goofy
drukhari combat;
do space ?marines are gay
yes

If your chaos yes
wrong
Yes
the space marines are literally just a fraternity of space age warriors
what isnt gay about that is the real question
They’re chemically castrated basically
if i had a nickle for every half naked space marine being sweaty id have a nickle for every space marine book
gay in the same way batman is gay
i know, buts its still really funny to mention that fact about warrior cultures lol
Batman fucks
ultramarines:
"we're romans"
my cat bit my thigh
batman has to basically be written like a closeted homosexual according to some writer
Well that writer was dumb
There’s plenty of good Batman romance stories
Or love interests he has which were done well
i can name you the enemy that causes that animation
dont fucking test me
a guy in a black skin tight suit who beats up other tightly dressed men
i had a friend that was using a character from that game for years as his steam pfp and he had no idea what game it was from lol
well he's an idiot
I mean if you’re reductive enough you can make anything sound like anything
Guh Barbra gordon
He also rolls around with women in super tight or revealing outfits
And makes out with them a lot
cat women
like not literally gay its just how he is written
the enemy is the giant tail
Cat women and poison ivy more times than not make it sexual when they’re fighting him
in case you wanted to know
He already fucking dates Barbera Gordon, which is already fucked up
Batman writer Grant Morrison has described the superhero as “utterly gay”.
He told Playboy: “He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant. Gayness is built into Batman.
He does it one time in a shitty adaptation
“I’m not using gay in the perjorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There’s just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he’s intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay.”
this is teh quote i meant
Grant Morrison sounds like he has a pretty reductive idea of gayness
No thanks to Bruce timm
it was the like 90s when this quote came out
It’s more a joke quote anyways tbh let’s be real
Morrison added that this was part of the appeal: “I think that’s why people like it. All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn’t care – he’s more interested in hanging out with the old guy and the kid.”
it's the equivalent of using gay as a slur
Yeah that's pretty gay

also asexual just not existing to 90's normal people
yeah he got marreid liek 5 times
he use to just be superman but not, then he got dark and angsty to better compete with Marvel's new age of heroes
He’s married Catwomen multiple times in different arcs
damn
And had the worst fucking kid ever
fuck you all for reading comic books btw
All the other robins should be thanking Damien everyday for making the worst robin contest easy as hell
This ship was a thing since the justice League cartoons
Across different series it’s been suggested different times yeah
also shout out to queer coded joker, my friend use to be obsessed with it
I don't, I think most of them are shit
i was born in the mid 90s which is like the final days of the comic book era
it's american so it's shit
which yeah joker is liek very closeted queer coded
Okay weeb
i hate japan more
i just pirate them
Why you guys gotta be such haters smh
because it's slop for children
reading is cool y'all
??????????????
So is a lot of stuff
almost all of my comic book knowledge is second hand at best lol
do you liek visual novels?
Comic superheroes are the definition of pulpy nonsense
I’ve read a lot more shit books than bad comics tbh
find better books
yea you are a warhammer fan of couse you have
lmao
There’s plenty of great comics
yup
Some suck but it’s easy to select for the good ones these days
I was brainwashed into reading all the adult detective books, like from the Kellerman family
pure slop
also i have read basically every court of owls before it became over doen
the original arc
god i love the court of owls
the nerd channel has reached a new level of nerdness
Okay normie
comic books is where i cross the line
are there any 40k comics?
like anime with a dub
the worst of both worlds
There’s a couple
most of them are meh, one was stolen from the original artist
The Calgar one is really good
ah right
literally find it via google images
where he does a frontflip up to the top of a lord of skulls and rips it's head off
Speaking of fronflips
i just assumed it was when he jumped over it's axe
Was that dawn of war 3 drama of the terminator flipping really that dumb?
I mean I get it it's terminator armor, but like it's tartaros
its an attack the chapter master can use
he does a frontflip into the air and slams his hammer godsplitter on the ground for a big aoe
I meant there was a whole mockery of it when it was shown
Because it was terminator armor back flipping
i still cant get over the fact his hammer's name is godsplitter lol
its so damn cheesy
huh?
Calgar
oh
thought you meant Gabriel
though afaik he ended up with basically Calgar's whole "needed to have his limbs replaced" thing
i guess getting pounded into the dirt by a giant daemon price will do a number on you
it's very different
It’s not that different. The mobility is similar
one can teleport
Especially in regards to back flipping
Both can, one is built for it better
not tabletop wise
lore being a cheap excuse to sell more models:

still weren’t talking about tabletop
So for Maneaters (or any kind of ogre really) that end up retiring in a Order faction city (barring Lizardmen): are they generally reviled by the community?
Or is it that typical "it depends" kind of answer?
It depends
yes they are scary but
They are also helpful
Eating humans are bad and all that but having ogres as muscle is a good investment
So it would generally be a "Helpful but we're keeping you at arm's length" sorta relationship?
yes just like in old fantasy
I see
Useful but you're right to be scared with them
I guess also the ones that are settling down are also the ones that are the most professional ogres too
Give them food and money and an ogre is content
True, I'm just thinking about their bully mentality
As long as you're professional with dealing with an ogre and you know how they think it should be easy
Since fledgling Maneaters are known to be lazy and liable to throwing their weight around
True true
ogres are smart and they wouldn't put themselves in unnecessary problems by eating townspeople unless they are the more tribal ones
That's mostly true, but you could have a particularly rambunctious ogre that feels he needs his fill now and the guy that just made fun of how he looks is looking particularly tasty
Also yeah more tribal ogres would also influence that
They probably would also die quickly within the city
What idiot do you think would insult a 10 feet tall muscular monster that can pick up a tank turret like it's a ******* club?
I'm sure there's one or two foolhardy folks who have a thing or two to say about ogres
Especially if, I dunno, they lost family to them
mate even Stormcast know that ogors are scary
I don't care how much you are traumatized by them keep your ******* mouth shut
depends on the city, but generally people would probably be uncomfortable around them
hell
people are uncomfortable around skinks and khainites
for good reason for both arguably lol
That is mostly because they can eat their reincarnating spirits
Cuz one is part of an Isolationist group and the other is part of a murder cult,
Yeah but why do you want the people to be eaten/
?*
Both of them are murder cults and one of them are super isolationist yes
Like even a very belligerent general knows messing with an ogre
The Skinks in the Cities of Sigmar tend to root out chaos and uh
is gonna get you very bad trouble
imagine bumping into a skink and he calls you a racial slur in lizardmen
That's an interesting relationship
either way the groups that tend to not be looked at the best are like City Ogers, Lizardmen and Khainites
mostly since they're scary
and of the 3, 2 of them actively engage in blood sacrifices lmao
and the very rare Iron jaw that somehow didn't kill a guy but put him in critical condition for annoying him
Oh yeah, Orks also work in some Sigmarite cities, right?
Yeah, hell there's even friendly undead in some
Really? How does that work?
Usually they just hang around
Aren't they all in pain and misery or something?
a lot of undead despise nagash
and we'll do a lot of things just to get the hell away from him
they're all suffering and in agony
but like wights and skeletons
ehhh
‘Oh you mean the Wight that stays down by the rice field? That’s Glimskull. Keeps to himself mostly. Scared the salt out of the lot of us at first, but he’s saved more Dawners than half the Freeguild combined. Wouldn’t break bread with him, mind. But when the ‘reapers come, you’ll be glad he’s on our side... Keeps the birds away from the fields too.’
— Jakub Helios, Grimreach Settlement Farmhand
shit the Nighthaunt is here get the salt
I love Glimskull; I'd give him my bread :)
Hopefully he doesn't take it as an insult
Ah that's true
yeah like the ritual of soulbound literally have like Knight-Questor walk Around with a Wardokk and Crypt Infernal Courtier
stuff like a normal skeleton might not really get it
but a grave guard or more "alive" skeleton would
Like you see this storm cast the god king's personal warrior
walk in with a bumbling green idiot
and a very savage ghoul
The skeleton he says?
Faith in the GOATED emperor
the implication is that she's some sort of lich or powerful undead skeleton
But she works for Sigmar?
yes
So she's like a storm cast in a weird way
Couldn’t tell those were candles, thought that was like blood or pieces of flesh
aight thanks
that would be gnarly
either way she literally drains the life from the enemies of simgar
as in like turns them into old husks that wither and die so I think most signs point to her being a lich lol
also she's incredibly good at stopping other mages from casting spells
Yeah that’s on point
so like
Nagash definitely be staring at her
And “Drains the life”. sounds like your typical 9 to 5 manager
there's also the whole she can just make an enemy wizard fucking explode
if they try casting magic around her lol
Isn't that just like pretty generic skill for a powerful sorcerer
Where you use some kind of magical thingy to make their magical energy unstable
its the way they explode rather, they explode with death magic lol
should have specified that
ohh yeah wolf what happened to the dragons
Renowned storm cast ride them right
or is that a completely different species
yeah those are dragons
I know nothing of Elspeth, but she sounds similar to her for some reason
are Draconith basically the only type of Dragons left
or are they basically a special kind of dragon
Elspeth isn't kind of evil
I'd say
She doesn't run a literal cult that sacrifices chaos followers lol
but Draconith would basically mop the floor with the normal warhammer fantasy dragon right
idk
Elspeth isn't evil
I will say it's honestly a toss up then
Elspeth is morally grey
she does bad stuff but she also helps people in equal measure
No, probably not anyway, but something about the lich part sounds similar to Elspeth's agelessness and apparent resurrection
She's just very creepy but she still is a loyal empire person
I mean the bad stuff she does is exploding heretics
To be fair she did give a loyal knight an amulet that exploded
Hilarious
He got pranked
yeah it is
too bad you didn't specify quicker nerd
now perish
Yea we've already made an assumption and it has been set in stone

So yeah Elspeth is just slightly more white on the morally grey meter and this lich is more black on that same meter
Elspeth doesn't really have anything bad to her resume
Isn't she kinda sketchy due to using death magic and being somehow ageless?
Kroak from wish
LOL
Speaking of is there anyone in age of sigmar that can even challenge that demented toad in terms of magical might
Other than gods, even mortal ones, no one I'd wager
the frog is yet again magical
The frog is once again based
Only kroak
so it literally has to be a god to even challenge his magical might
ah yes I can imagine Kairos trying to magic kroak and Kroak goes Lmao and fries him golden brown
Kroak looking at Kairos as if he were a pebble in his shoe
🌌
✌️
Lord of changes are for the most part more skilled, but aren't as powerful as 1st and 2nd generation Slann
grip is done can't take screenshot with shitty work laptop i want to punch a hole through the screen
I would recommend against that
let me tell you something
a couple of weeks after getting this laptop i noticed that it wasnt charging when plugged in
i go to the IT guy who keeps it for the whole day so i can't do anything
turns out the fucking piece of shit equipment needed an update to fix a charging issue
IT NEEDED AN UPDATE TO CHARGE
Give it some truck nuts on the front
would you say it's.....grippy?
shame he died so young
😢
man these space marine gifs are getting weird
They're getting good
'Dancing with the Astartes'
I wish we got this version of Space Marines
Somewhere on a Battle Barge there's at least one space marine going full Kevin Bacon in 'Footloose'. Dancing out his frustration
Dancing according to the Codex Astarsteps
God bro has some moves
If I were a woman or very gay, would absolutely swoon over this
dude's last name is literally Bacon, he cant not be great
being introduced to this film at a young age(my folk grew up in the 80s) actually shattered the illusion of being afraid to dance at public events and parties. It was " F*** whatever the guy next to me is thinking, i'm letting loose and not leaning against a wall like he is".
Hell yeah dude
foot loose was among the greatest movies of it's generation
it's also what altered my taste in music for the next seventeen years of my life. I don't know wth most youth listen to nowadays.
cool
should be done soon
just need to make the entire thing an assembly of parts that fit together
Wow man don’t be gay
Erm, provide evidence?
I thought we were just hugging eachother form the back like homies do
Kissing homies isnt gay bro
Nah we're just getting some early practicing in now
Me when I’m making sure bro knows how to kiss properly before he goes on a first date
The last time I saw two guys kissing in a film was in Hitch with Will Smith and Kevin James
it's better in real life smh
man the amount of people who believe that bolters would kill humans if they tried to shoot them
granted i was part of this
once
i think the reason i used to believe this is because i thought space marines were much bigger than humans
Is this the channel where people actually like 40k?
ok
I've seemingly only been in chats with people that don't even like 40k.
So I came here
For refuge
👀
It probably still could
The blow back from that thing could break your arm.
Then there’s the dude that fires a heavy Bolter standing
But the amount of damage a person takes from firing a Bolter is dependent on their training with the thing
Reason why it’s special issue for guard
This also made me think about how the fuck does zealot have perfect reload drill with every weapon
bolters are not that bad for humans
there is no reason to believe that they are
humans use them all the time
They’re heavy, so the recoil isn’t as bad as you’d think
Yeah, but I imagine mag dumping one the first time you pick it up is probably going to hurt you
The bigger issue is it’s fucking heavy and ammo is fucking heavy and expensive
Lasguns also work for a shitton of things fine
bolts are also not conventional ammunition. they're the most documented projectile type we know of
Isn’t there like one actual gyrojet gun that exists
idk why people act like they're just full on 20mm cannon rounds
The ones that Space Marines use will blow your arms off.
this is untrue
Why do you think Sisters of Battle have their own versions.
space marine bolters do not use bigger cartridges than the one we use in game
bolters are also not as big as people think
this is a retired model
a current model that uses a normal bolter would be the cadian castellan
They might cause issues if you fired full auto but they’re just super heavy
Bigger payload
guess where the term gyrojet comes from
Someone super jacked could use one maybe but it’s not practical for most
gyrojet isn't just a type of gun it's a brand name
someone super jacked could use a heavy bolter
40k stuff might look heavy but that's the tabletop effect causing blocky appearance
Marine heavy bolters are really fucking heavy
yeah
It’s not practical for most normal dudes to use one, even marines struggle a bit with them firing
not to mention they always seem connected to the power plant backpack thing
but still the fact that's possible means it's not way beyond the human limit
and one does lol
a catachan
dude is like ogryn sized
Unless they're specificaly made for them. There was a book about an inquisitor who picked up a space marine's gun and fired it which got their arms broken from the recoil.
sadly the black library has no uniformity when it comes to the lore
one writer has that happen while another has the bolter as near standard issue for a regiment lol
hell afaik Dan tends to write the space marines has glorified idiots and canon fodder
Which Space Marines was that again?
idk it was in one of the Gaunt's ghosts books iirc
but my point was most of the authors have different understandings and views on the various elements of the lore
so there is a lot of contradictions
which book
and hell bolters have been an option for the guard in the TT for years
and GW's stance is always TT>lore
we literally use a bolter in game
and there is no indication that bolters use different cartridges
in terms of physics a bolter is fully human useable as well, the weight of the gun+ the limited propelant in the first stage ejector casing means the recoil would be minimal
the only real problem is fatigue
do you have a source? I've seen this repeated but never sourced
the only thing I've read with a human using a marine weapon and breaking their bones was an Interrogator using a Croazius
it's just one of those entry level common mistakes people make about lore and repeat forever as a fact
and it shatters like her ribs + arms when she hits someone with it lol
The Emperor's Gift.
do the corazius work like thunder hammers?
as in they build up a charge and dump it all in one hit?
But its noted picking it up makes her entire body scream in pain and its far too heavy for her to use properly
No
its a conventional power weapon
ok
Even Power Armour doesn't help.
it would be strange for an interrogator to have power armor afaik
nvm she was in power armor
her inqusitor is rich
I'd guess
I race towards it, discarding my laspistol, and reach for the crackling weapon. Lifting it nearly breaks my ribs – it is as heavy as a man, and my power armour strains to compensate. Disruptor charge snakes and lashes about me, and the thing shudders in my grip as if alive. I can barely hold on to it, let alone use it, but Erastus is now in mortal danger.
‘For the Emperor!’ I cry, mimicking his strident roars, and throw myself at the creature.
I swing the maul at its spine, two-handed, putting all my weight into the blow. This betrays my ignorance – the weight and power of it is far too much, and as it connects I realise my error. My arms are smashed even through my armour, and the wave of pain makes me scream out loud. The released disruptor charge explodes, throwing me clear of the impact and cracking open ceramite plate. I cannot release the maul – it remains in my grip, locked by ruined gauntlets amid gouts of flame.
Also this shit has to be way heavier then a man lol
if power armor is straining at lifting it lol
^
even if human power armor isnt shit next to space marine power armor its still power armor
Power armor doesn't struggle to lift things heavier then a fully grown human
It’s not really
Either way that croazius is fat
It depends but lots of interrogators are kitted the fuck out if they’re more combat focused
If you think that's insane. A Custodes got ganged up on by two ogryns. He just flexed to break the grapple and punched one through the Ogryn's chest that it went out his back. The other Ogryn ran away and he killed him with a simple flick of a pebble through his brain.
i love how it just fucking explodes
and explodes her arms just from the impact
least powerful lore custodes
They weren’t combat Ogryns and it’s the difference between raw power and raw power + skill + speed
For this it's genetics.
The Ogryns were/are similar strength to him
The difference is he’s way faster, smarter and more skilled
Ogryns are good at close quarters combat but they’re not more skilled than marines and definitely not Custodes
If they can get a good grip that’s when it gets dangerous, and they’re very tough and difficult to put down
Plus it’s not typically one Ogryn
They’re still pretty ideal for dealing with targets like that if you have to but in a fight all things equal the marines and to a greater extent Custodes have a big advantage
also not all Ogryns are made equal and the ones in that short iirc were just laborers
Combat hardened Ogryns and if you wanna get more extreme Charonites for 30k or Plague Ogryns are a much bigger pain in the ass.
Are ogryns as strong as custodes in lore or is that just a tabletop thing?
In the short iirc he describes them as matching him fairly well
POWER
He breaks free but that’s because he knows how
He’s not in his armor also
They’re definitely supposed to be on average stronger than marines
Honestly the fact that ogryns have the capability to flick a rock through someone's skull is terrifying
Not that they could easily but that is a fun thought
Also how do you even Vat grow a Ogryn? Like where do you even get the D.N.A. from exactly. Because that Ogryn who was cloned has got to be smart.
They don’t clone them really
They’re just gestating them in a lab
Ogryn worlds where they raise their young are highly valued worlds too
Vat growing tends to produce less than ideal results
Cloning is almost always a bad idea
I guess that's one way. At least it isn't like Fabius Bile with his clones. Like you don't know which one is real, until you examine the remains.
I can see that.
Especially if theyre on the side of good guys
Drukhari trying to clone the Emperor is still on going too I think.
well "stopped"
How about their own version of the Golden Throne they were building?
clones are comedically bad luck
they pulled a page from the sitcom playbook and had the plot reset like the only thing didnt happen so no one knows if anything ever came of it
||all the humans involved are M.I.A. and the Drukhari will never talk about it again||
tbf the carrion throne books had such massive implications for the setting that it had to get the sitcom plot reset treatment
It’s not the first time books have done stuff like that.
There’s been multiple series with setting ending events which get resolved more or less by the end or put back into the cabinet
And that’s not even including more minor stuff which would still be a fairly big deal like Clonegrim or whatever
yeah
Clonegrim had such massive potential as a setting changer in a lot of ways, only to end up a trophy in a skeleton robot's collection case
Question. Why did Gulliman name Sanguinius heir to the throne in Imperium Secundus and not himself or the Lion?
Sanguinius was an icon, also it would have looked really bad if Guilliman made himself
Sanguinius being the most reluctant and least volatile was a good combo
whats the ost that plays in the relay station mission
Alright. Also do we know why Vulkan was the only Perpetual out of all the Primarchs?
Not really, it’s not even clear if it was intentional
Yea. Weird too that his not a Psyker as well.
All primarchs are psychic in one way or another
I know that. But Vulkan is a Perpetual and those humans are pretty powerful Psykers too. Erda took on four greater daemons of each Chaos God by herself. Except for those who were made into a Perpetual.
Like all primarchs he probably had/has the potential to do similar things but dude pursue it
Guilliman believes he could unlock a lot of his potential but it concerns him doing so
Are psykers taught about daemons in their training or are they just told “don’t go too deep or listen to the voices or bad things happen”?
They're definitely taught about them and to be super vigilant and not listen to the voices and all that.
Ah, I assumed it differed depending on the situation
If they follow their ignorance is strength policy and just give them rituals to follow or not
It’s part of why unsanctioned psykers are such a risk not even including them being bound
They’re not necessarily extensively trained in all of it but they definitely know they’re there and to kill themselves rather than be possessed
Which is typically what happens if you draw too hard on the warp and fuck up
The best policy wouldn’t be to just say that the voices lie, but that they speak glimpses of partial truths, for that is how the best deceptions are woven
Mostly they can’t really not be aware of it since it’s there for them to see
Cause there’s plenty of times where psykers have a daemon speak to them and tell them some minor secret or something that causes them to start to trust the daemon in some small manner
Which is deadly
It’s definitely a unfortunate scenario
They are flux incarnate, they rarely if ever stick to their word, and definitely not without a twist
Daemons always lie is a saying for a reason
Even when they’re telling the truth they’re not really basically, they have a underlying motive and can’t be trusted
Theres a quote that goes something like this "Daemons are lies made manifest, only a fool would trust them, but they are creatures of greed, ambition, and pettiness, and those are things I trust entirely"
fairly sure its from Abbadon, cant remember
Point is, dont trust or deal with daemons if you can, but if you have to or encounter one, they can be manipulated to be predictable
Again, web of lies with a thread of truth
"If he tells you that snow is white, he's lying"
The voices saved me for years in this bleak world and taught me so many incredible things. What does the loud preacher in golden clothes know calling them demons...
Entire reason I made this image for it whenever someone says that lol
We got so much official art of people just normally using bolters without issue so like lol
Yeah then they call you some kind of racist person for talking to them that way
I call it the warhammer fan defense
throw in a lot of fucking accusations at the motherfucker

i mean, wouldnt there be a caveat of human scaled bolter and SM bolter?
no a human can fire a fullsized bolter
its just clunky
and painful
no real reason to unless you're desperate for a weapon
they're for arbites yeah
But a human can fire a full sized bolter
Hell if you are physically strong enough you can even use a heavy one
Also like
humans can fire 50. cals IRL too no problem
you will just get massive pushback
this stupid "arm break" thing is just shitty dark heresy lore
lol
Yeah they think that once you fire a bolter you will fly with it like how Barry steak fries flies with a mini gun jetpack in jetpack joyride
Ok well do you have any art proving they survived their first shot?
This is obviously a before/after shot
The recoil was so bad it broke his other arm!
He’s on the phone explaining to the boss that he broke his arm again
Yeah… the bolt pistol again…
I will say I wouldn’t be firing a bolt pistol with that arm regardless of how safe it is for humans to fire
Accidentally shooting a random pedestrian?

"accidentally"
Broke both shoulder blades in the process though, RIP.
I wonder how bad it is to support that barrel
Not all the voices are bad, but like 90% of them are
Sometimes they can hear the dead or other non daemon Voices
Bolt pistols in general seem iffy for more than one shot in a short period of time
You better hope your target is nearby
It’s the same as just firing any high caliber pistol, like you have more length to absorb the shock and a relatively lighter weapon, its just gonna flop around quite a bit
remember the standard bolter is a 20mm
we have those irl
they can dislocate the shooter's shoulder if not careful though, but the bolter wouldnt have near as much recoil as the current 20mm rifle
what we have is 20mm cannon/autocannon rounds
and a few short lived simi-auto rifles
Obviously we should make the Brutus Jr, a 20mm pistol drum fed pistol.
