in that case yes a Haemonculi turned some random human into an "eldar"
the only part that was off was the soul
also the "eldar" stumbled around and suffered a lot of other issues regarding emotional regulation and hand eye coordination
Also probably having poor balance due to being way to tall
Would be fun and sad to watch
what was even the goal
Funny, the haemonculi was bored
And they had a slave on hand they didn’t want to brutally torture
The purpose for the eldar -> human thing is for humiliating the eldar/to make a good infiltrator
Malcador made an half Eldar Hybrid clone with his own D.N.A. Who he confided his regrets and darkest secrets too. Which drove the hybrid mad, killing himself a good amount of times.
So what going on w/ Atoma atm is kinda the same thing that ended up happening to Metallica, right? Basically forced to fight a Nurgle curse inseperable from the planet for eternity, more or less?
So far yes it would seem, but Atoma is dealing with it much better since the whole planet isn't covered in something that's corruptable and has a central point that causes a multitude of failures
since the plague tree seems to keep on popping up over and over again
it might escalate further
Metallica also had a lot more to deal with
Atoma is dealing with a cult and a large regiment of traitor guard
Metallica had massive amounts of Death Guard and nurgle forces
Just asking, but which out of the traitor Primarchs most likely to be redeemed later by the Emperor?
Oddly enough, I was going to say Mortarion
Emperor said he could, but didn't to his face.
Omegon is considered a loyalist compared to Alpharius. But the Alpha Legion is something else entirely.
For me I think it would be Magnus.
Omegon is the most likely if he’s alive and nothing has changed
Since he wouldn’t be a daemon lol
Russ probably
Russ isn't a Traitor though
Hes definitely off banging daemonettes and drinking their booze
There is only truly one way to fix it all
Dilara, get the rock cutter chainsaw

As if it was hard enough to need that
yeah your right
@storm jungle get the drilling laser instead

What do you want me to just throw them in a bucket full of radioactive material and then throw them off the sea?
at least with this one they will live
But that would not be ecological
fine i will find an incinerator instead
btw, it took me this long to realize the actual part of 40K lore that created the "Guilliman has an Eldar GF" joke...
Ok
I hate warhammer fans, I hate their smell the most, the smell is the worst part, oh God the stench
At this point which fandom shouldn't be hated.
Me, and my fanbase
I hate that one most of all
But any large enough fanbase is gonna become insufferable eventually
and you call me crazy for bringing out the rock cutter chainsaw
Me when a female character exists and she has to be the cocksleeve to an bigger popular male character.
Because uh, they talked once.
lol
Like the HotD fandom is currently having a meltdown because the fan theories they came up with based off the trailers turned out to be wrong
and this is obviously the shows fault
Fandoms become way too entitled with the things they are fans off
Like why would you literally threaten the creator of a manga because the gay ship you guys made isn't canon
Oh well people will be stupid no matter how you slice it
Me @ the bridgerton creators for not making Eloise x Cressida canon
my grandparents started the first episode of brigerton without knowing what it was and were appalled immediately
It's the best
I know nothing about it other than it's allegedly girlporn in book form
I watch it with my mum
Also dont forget getting mad when characters make mistakes.
Even tho they are constantly shown to be impulsive or hypocrites
lol
Hold on i think one of the imperial gollums in my basement escaped after he heard that
Or when a character makes a decision that's at odds with something they did in a previous season, how dare they change their mind and show character growth.
The emperor special
heavy is the butt that poops the pant
Show: Character learns from their mistake and tries not to repeat it
Fanbase "Wow, what a hypocrite. Remember when they did X"
Another strawman obliterated, good job
It’s more annoying that you have the one rogue trader lady that actively flirts with Guilliman and calls him Robu and yet somehow Yvraine is the one everyone says is his GF.
I mean I get none of these dumb mfers read any of the actual source
But still
^
If you’re gonna do cringey fan ships at least do the one which halfway makes any goddamn sense
Its very much just "elves are hot and i gotta see more of them in NSFW situations".
People always prefer the most basic generic slop when it comes to this shit
Finding elves hot is the real cringe

Also even funnier since even the lore says humans find eldar hot
Especially bisexually
thanks white dwarf

I pretend I do not see
It’s where they send the Warhammer Community staff now once they start getting geriatric.
I'm still waiting for an opportunity to bring up that canonically in DND a Dwelf existed
just to just off the the elf and dwarf fandoms
IM LOOKING AT YOU TYPHUS
cross race ? in a fantasy setting OK fine
if it's scifi it's better be ******* genetic modification because if it's actually just having sex I will kill you
I had one DND campaign, where one of the dudes partially as a joke had a elf mom and dwarf dad and he just ended up looking like a normal human
ah yes the centaur mermaid special
It was pretty funny cause he’d try to relate to dwarves and elves and he’s know stuff and they’d all just side this normal human talking about their culture
I think stats wise, though we just used normal human stats
It was pretty funny. The whole time too it was unclear if he was making this up or crazy or if this was all actually true since there is never any actual proof for it beyond him just knowing a lot of stuff
And the player never specified, and he didn’t want the DM to go into his backstory, so it ended up being an amusing concept
If someone plays a joke character and they do it very well it's always going to be fun
It helped a lot too, that he was playing I think a fighter or something
He was super milquetoast intentionally
So he has an elaborate joke set up but his character classes like one of the most basic ones
Yeah basically
By the end he was pretty cool though, the campaign was a shorter one but he had a mix of dwarf and elf kinda gear.
Which was part of the joke, the dm let him have a really high knowledge of elf and dwarf stuff and be able to use some stuff so it kinda melded in the whole “is he delusional, is it real, is he just crazy but really gifted?”
It was fun
I can imagine some random bbeg reading his mind and wondering how the hell has his parents not killed each other
My first D&D character was a human adopted and raised by Dwarves, who'd convinced himself he was just a tall dwarf.
Human orphan adopted by Dwarf is such a common archetype
I had one too
Human girl whose parent (Bandits) were killed by the Dwarf, who adopted her, when she was a teen the Dwarf died and she became a Barbarian whose rage was getting possessed by her adoptive grandpa
when you want to play a dwarf character but you're too basic to stray from human
It was pretty funny, at the rest of the party were originally a humans and an elf, so they'd be like "But you're not really a Dwarf", then after a couple of sessions two new players joined playing Dwarf brothers and when they saw my character's beard, armour and holy symbols just went "Good to see we won't be the only Dwarves in the group" and greeted him as kin.
DnD equivalent of passing
is there a list of characters who lived during the dark age of humanity and were still present in the imperium
A fair amount during the heresy era
Now days not so much but there’s probably a few still
Perpetuals are the obvious and boring answer
there's obviously the big name characters like the emperor and that perpetual guy
Malcador did I believe
but yeah perpetuals are boring since they didn't do anything to live that long
Erda also. Not sure for others.
I mean how much can a guy use the rejuvenation techniques of the imperium until it can no longer work and they begin to truly age
i thought he only lived during the age of strife
Mostly humans in 40k die at around 300-500 with treatments
Rarely they can get to a thousand or so with augmetics or special suits
And ad mech obviously is its own deal but even for them
would there be some in trazyn's grand collection still in stasis?
Cawl is an exception not the norm
Maybe, he didn’t find humanity interesting until the heresy
So it’s hard to say
He collects what interests him
was he even awake during the dark age?
He was
He didn't do anything in the dark age because woke
He was on a big seashell kick at that time
would there be some nurgle worshipers who have lived for millenia?
But yeah Trayzn doesn’t collect everything, he collects what interests him
We don’t know
Maybe, but we don’t have examples
Yeah possibly, there’s a couple maybes for some cultures during the GC era
Like the Olamic Quietude may have had some
that art goes hard
There was one
I think it has a short story
Yeah it’s from the dark age, but we mostly don’t see that stuff
For whatever reason
Probably because to be frank GW wants to keep it in the dark mostly and that’s for the best
That’s just STC tech though
But we know about as much as the chars in the setting
LoV and Ad Mech have a bunch of stuff from that era
Archeotech or Dark Age tech shows up a ton
they definitely dont want us piecing together what humanity was pre imperium since it's probably too much work to make it consistent across stories
There's also no real point
It's pretty far removed from the Imperium beyond gimmick gear
It’s like Unifiction Terra, and the War in Heaven
We’re not meant to know the full picture
what ship design would be the closest to pre imperial stuff though?
We have some stuff and things we know but we don’t need to know it all
would votaan have the closest to old ships?
i can't imagine pre imperial humanity using those gothic monsters
There wasn’t one type of ship
DAoT humanity was many different factions
Like the Phalanx for example was from the Dark Age
Lots of wild stuff happened
Also the ship designs and stuff we see are largely from that era too
that's always been strange to me
horus heresy is supposed to have higher tech equipment yet it's also given this "old" aesthetic because it's pre 40k
if we follow this logic then dark age humanity was using steampunk guns that shoot turbo lasers or something
It’s just an aesthetic
40k has always been rule of cool over everything else
Sometimes there’s happy times it almost makes sense
i do admit that dark age humanity being all western and stuff would make an awesome setting
It doesnt really.
which part
Literally almost 99% of 30k tech is re-purposed/bastardized DAOT tech or just stuff the Imperium could make at the time that punches hard.
DAOT has always been more Star Trek/Advanced Generic Sci-fi
the Van Saar are a pretty good window to how stuff looked
so it's high tech modified for imperial use?
More or less, not everyone had access to advanced equipment to begin with either.
It was more that the Imperium actually was semi-united and had a single common purpose with the admech just producing anything they could for the Astartes Legions and crusade fleets.
the admech being so lax was one of the reasons why the schism of Mars even happened to begin with too
Also the steam punk stuff is mostly just the Solar Auxilia
^
It’s just aesthetic choices
30k's entire thing is brutalist industrialism
and yeah that, its to show the Imperium using more bastardized but advanced tech
Don’t look too much into it design wise.
Warhammer got their punk game on lock
Same was they decided current ad mech is steampunk and da Vinci looking stuff
The design definitely has purpose though is the thing, its just not by a lot. Theres old interviews with people like Jes Goodwin talking about the language and implications they put into some of the minis.
Its just not too deep
same as how admech robots are modelled after american 60's sci-fi movie goofy robots
etc etc
And they modeled the marines after a sci fi wargaming setting made in the early 80s in the UK
Yeah some are straight 60's movie robots
exception being the Vorax lol
the Gothic & Eldritch sketchbook goes into it
this thing feels more new sci-fi
is votaan stuff supposed to look more like what would be made during the dark age
just bcs of like its shape ig?
Kinda
irreversible brain damage did not help me
They are a step below
i dont really get ancestor cores, are they supposed to be straight up big thinking machines from the dark age or are they currently so old that they act completely to their own whims
Yes.
both
so what they output is dark age stuff?
They're actually fully sentient STC's
Depends on the core
but their output of intelligence has slowed down
That's literally the entire reason why the ******* dwarves decided it's time to get out and look for stuff outside
Remember these things are from way back in the day of space exploration, they had a massive fall-off/period of segregation from main human colonies etc
its why the simple brutalist dwarf aesthetic so much at the forefront
yeah so they had to adapt to their environment
Yep exactly
it ties into homebrew
Votann cores and the Kin they produce can just be whatever you want them to be.
to me that means that the stuff they use is specifically made for the dense galactic core and not actually generic dark age stuff
Also that yeah
Funny how they copied the warhammer fantasy dynamic of the humans having pretty good technology but the dwarves just have the things that humans have but better
the Van Saar are still at the top
better guns
because the tech they have literally looks alien and un-40k
better artillery
and they got a single unified massive STC
Yeah, they are all just "it depends" for homebrew reasons
this is all bare info atm, we'll prob get more whenever the fuck gav finishes his book
is there any significance to them using bolters or is that just rule of cool
How optimistic of you
It’s GW being stupid as fuck
if he's even going to finish the damn thing
^
how long has it been
Its a retcon???? maybe????
Them using imperial weapons makes no sense
Since the promise was made for the new book
Idk, so much LoV is just lazy to me
maybe they copied the bolter afterwards when finding an imperial one
Like just “your thing but slightly better”
The cleanest explanation is this
what GW will do
uhhh

We will see
yeah like i said above isn't that like also the dynamic of empire and dwarves
We don’t have power swords and axes, we have plasma swords and axes!
Its unique i like it
in warhammer fantasy
I like their look
you can shove your power-sword up your as-
even the codex?
I mean
the codex is a stepping sotne
the problem is
that stone isnt going anywhere
because Floor 2 isnt done yet
They have very little is the accurate thing to say but yeah
It’s not much and it’s just
Half baked as fuck
Yeah also remember we are the rare kind of period 40k fans who are seeing a new faction actually come to fruition.
This isnt even a GSC situation
who are literally just "yeah they fuck and make cults thats it, go do whatever"
has that happened since tau
even tau dont have enough lore and they've been here since i was born
They are fine
Thats because Phil Kelly is bad

but yeah they'll get more when they get actual lore
They could always have more but like
They launched with a ton of lore
And have always gotten some
hopefully next edition will launch with tau as the main "enemy"
LoV doesn’t even have a real character.
they did nothing with necrons last edition
that seems to be the only way to get proper new lore these days
and they are doing nothing with nids this edition
oh
tau dont need the same treatment tbh
Destined to be sidelined I hope
I do like the idea of a character whose told they’re destined but they’re just kinda born into it and have no idea what it is
My issue with LoV is they don’t seem to want to lean into the fact that they’re a race made by computers with predetermine roles and arguably not much free will.
The lore seems to all point to them being controlled by the AI
In effect
But then the lore drops insist they’re not
Even though they are literally created by and genetically made to fit a role by these AI
i'll be honest it would be pretty annoying to have them be another faction that's secretly controlled by a leader figure
since that's already what tau have going on
Tau got more lore on their launch lol
wait how did humanity travel in the warp before the astronaumicon again?
very smart computer
Thats a part even i fucking forget
its one part of the lore where you can tell the writers had no idea and just half-assed with answers like the above lol
like navigators?
sorta?
i thought navigators were present during the dark ages
They werent as widespread iirc
they had something more akin to cartels
"You want better and faster travel just hire us homie"
i know the warp was calmer since that was before slaanesh right
Not really
the warps been fucked since The War In Heaven
whatever triggered the massive warpstorms in the age of strife is still ???
we do know Slaanesh's birth ironically is what got rid of all the warpstorms
from the age of strife
it literally "blew them away"
We also have no real answer for why psykers even started popping up iirc?
we don't
Like in Rogue Trader you get two examples
Cant wait for it to get cleared up in a future imperial novel with like 1 passing sentence

Refugee ships from Kiava Gmma make it to footfall without navigators
The wolves steal a small merchant ship and find their way to Epitaph without a navigator
does that also mean the emperor just like popped out like from a random couple and just went I can fix this and you know ruined the world and the universe
Yes thats the idea
the Emperor was not a destined chosen one
he was the warlord with the biggest stick
For a while he was also a freestyle rapper and part time geneticist hermit living in some cave
also the founder of r/atheist
The Master of the Lines
"For Secrets of the Machine God, FatShark needed music for the Mechanicus order and we decided to use a vocoder to represent the machine spirit element in this music. So I went all in on a vintage Roland vocoder and created a spiritual-infused vocal performance for the score. I wanted the track ‘The Machine Spirit’ to sound like a spiritual sean...
Now I'm just thinking about the Scream from Stars without Number which is kinda same but the opposite of the Age of Strife, the Terran Empire had became reliant on Psychics, to the point where basically all their technology became reliant on Psychics to operate and then suddenly one day every Psychic in the Galaxy simultaneously exploded. Leaving all their technology completely useless.
i thought the birth caused it
Nah
Slaanesh's birth entirely blows the storms away, paving way for the Great Crusade
none of this is explained in the 20000 page books about the end of the heresy
also emperor waiting in a cave during the most prosperous age of humanity without explanation is peak 40k
It needs more mindless filler
must hold
wait what?
comes out of cave and shares idea
"Holy fuck you're an idiot and also insane, die"
as far as we know he was waiting in the himalazians (Himalayas) during the entire time
and for some reason the wiki keeps saying it in that specific way
with the parentheses
the idea that he would have been a complete loser back then is also peak 40k
peak incel
Just wait, in 10 years they'll do a 30 part series called The Emperor's Emergence, that will cover this topic
Of which 2 will be relevant and 5 will cover a random caveman discovering the toilet
10 part amazon mini series about the unification wars
You just know the final book of the Emperors Emergence would be called the Beginning and the Birth
judging by how marvel has been going, if 40k hits the amazon mainstream i can see a whole series being made about his toothbrush
Damn it
I can already see the Ao3 tags
imagine it ends with
"i was there when the emperor lived" or some shit
I was there when the emperor gave birth
oh well can't wait for amazon to hit the geriatric GW leadership in the ass so they can actually
develop a story
Never gonna happen
40k is too much of a clusterfuck for the wider public to ever understand it
so why did the emperor do this if he could have done that
pulls out a presentation explaining why he is a fucking psychopath
i would have said the same for comic books before the MCU
Not really
comics have always been easy to follow
Tony Stark doesnt have a 55 book series explaining his motivations and the history of Stark Industries
it's pretty easy to take characters and put them in situations that anybody can understand while sprinkling in references for the nerds
40k has way too much lore and fluff mainstream audiences cannot follow.
Comic books ever since the 40's to 50's to today have been easy to consume and get into, thats how you make money
like fallout did it and now my boomer dad understands the setting from just the show alone
It's the multiple stories multiverse crap they always pull that makes the understanding them surprisingly easier
Fallout also doesnt have 30 years of lore
In 40K
you dont need to explain that lore to have a compelling story
Yeah that
You kinda do
imagine a person watching a 40k movie for the first time or show
literally not having any idea what is going on
Whos the Imperium
Whos the Mechanicus
you need lore to make a story stand
No matter how simple
yeah even games who aren't really designed to have stories and are just for fun have some bits of lore attached to them
Okay thats one down
Arcane explains like barely any league lore and it works
event horizon
People were also confused by that movie
Just do Eisenhorn smh
so no
i dont think you need to understand stuff like the HH to get 40k
HH is completely uncessary for 40k
Im not talking about HH
beyond the 9 traitor 9 loyalist
im talking about 40k as awhole lol
emperor got fucked up by Horus
Stuff is explained fast in Eisenhorn
You can have exposition dumps for Bequin and explain other stuff through context clues
HH is fluff for 40k
thats because Eisenhorn is written by a good writer. Now imagine scriptwriting 40k.
💀
also novels =/= visual media
its a very hard task to do unless you're very good at it
It’s not easy but I think you can get the general idea simply enough
Like Arbites, just show them being super cops
like its nice, it gives context to the present but you dont really need to know about the war in heaven to understand the orks fighting humanity
Me when acorn
Just use the “my patience is limited unlike my authority”
same applies to HH
you can understand the basics from a bit of exposition at the start
its mythical
sees slightly dark human
Well well look what mutant wandered into the place
You really need to think from the POV of a regular audience
it is the 41st millenium
You can also have a little prelude which does the whole 40k intro
People hate shit they dont understand
also one piece is a thing
Have a montage of different factions
I recently discovered that Star Trek Voyager uses scenes from Event Horizon, it's a very odd moment
filler the anime
the entire plot of one piece is that the context to the past is not known for the majority of it because you dont need that
Your butt is gonna use scenes from my foot kicking it soon
it's the year 40k
humanity is ruled by a dead emperor
religion is one with the state
humanity fights on every front to stay alive and reclaim a former glory
oh nah Dilara really stepping on all the lines

What did I do?
I have no opinion since I don’t have five months of my life to kill to try to catch up
It's the eternal kicker
do not worry about it
There's an issue when the anime has almost as many episodes as the manga has chapters

You know what you did
I LOVE FILLER
jojo stands probably make more sense than the primarchs
I don't, I'm too stupid
Primarchs aren’t hard to explain tbh
40k is already pretty anime so it adds up
Big man strong
Space Marine but Bigger
You don’t need to spell out every detail
primaris marine
Do we also even know if this "show" is gonna be live action or animated btw lmao
me watching the space marine fan trying to kill me with a knife after i told hold him his superhuman moves like an anime protagonist
star wars doesnt need to explain the clone wars to understand what storm troopers are
Yeah because star wars has been around in popular media for generations
okay more like decades but still lol
Yeah like Mario
that too
You don't need to explain what he does because he's been around for so long
people just want to see big men shoot alien
again, comparing 40k to popular franchises people know is not good examples.
lol
40k fans still cant even cope that half the world doesnt know their setting exists.
to be fair a big guy in space armour is not deep
Like as an example, a lot of the background history you get from the books isn’t explained in GoT or GRRMs other books set in that world
it really isn't as hard to understand as it seems to us who are really into it
Master Chief and doom slayer already stole the spotlight multiple times and of course Samus as well
tabletop people just know emperor good, xenos and chaos bad
Space marines are kind of the on the more bland side for super soldiers
I don’t think it’s easy but I don’t think it’s that hard to get the general idea either
I assume Live Action, because GW probably wouldn't want to risk a good animated show making Warhammer+ look bad
wearing big armor
use the Arcane Formula/j
like this is a darktide server, to play darktide you dont need to know anything about space marines or the heresy
That’s why Eisenhorn is always recommended, it primes and leads you into a lot of concepts well
yeah but that formula it's not something easy to do and with the track record of a warhammer writer
you don't need to be told what the fuck a tech priest is if you see some weird red robed dude with a bunch of robotic limbs praying and fixing like a generator
It's going to be quite something
It would be great for a show too since it doesn’t have many marines until the end so budget wise it would be good and you can explain them when it gets to them
Also people don’t care
You don’t need to explain why the big man is big and in armor to most people
i genuinely think that a wider audience would prefer human characters over space marines
you dont even need to explain space marines if they just show up towards the end
You kind of need to know about 40k to some larger extent, I have seen way too many people here just go:
"I got no idea whats going on, im confused"
I think people would like a well done series and they don’t actually care either way
Space Marines make money
they are the Jedi of 40k
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most consistently liked marvel series because it’s well done
yeah for 40k fans
James Gunn is basically way too OP tbh
No like the most recognizable thing about 40K is literally the space marines
Nothing matters if something is well done
i hate saying that but like it's the truth
to be fair if you have seen anything 40k its the generic space marine helmets
the space marines are basically the mario of this franchise
The idea that they shouldn’t do marines is silly, it’s a huge draw and if it’s done well who cares
Its one of those space marine cut outs from 8e
They’re not gonna do a marine only series
^
I can guarantee that
no it's like the 501st or whatever the fuck the thing is called. it's only liked by borderline nerds who don't represent the 90% casual audience
That’s way too expensive
There's 0 shot they'll do marines only lol
yeah at least you're gonna have to include a space marine
Do something similar to fallout where the power armor which is something recognizable is on the show but it's not the main focus
That’s why Eisenhorn is perfect
Marines are the most recognizable part of 40k
You lead into the universe
A space marine shows up being awesome and you know you can get rid of them f
no its Jedi lol
And the finale is Deathwatch vs Emperors Children
Jedi literally have to appear in any sort of star wars media
And it’s not many marines at a time
or some character has to be a secret jedi
Or some mfer is gonna pull a lightsaber
Do you mean the actual 501st in lore or the fan organisation the 501st?
The Mandalorian was great due to not having this
jedi are morally good because people enjoy the good guy vs bad guy dynamic too much imo
then
Okay but like that doesnt make my point any less better
they are boring
get them the fuck out of my face
People like Jedi it’s not complicated
space marines are too evil looking for casuals
This shit is outside of a lot of game stores
Casuals love space marines
me when Andor
This is 40k my guy
also remember space marine 2 later this year
if someone doesn't look evil
Jedi are the real evil
then
LOL
Also the Boys is one of the most popular shows rn
40k crossovers have gone up a lot this year in general
Did you really just say that space marines are too evil for casuals
And everyone fucking sucks
to be fair
my brother in christ
Butcher is my spirit animal
Everyone in this ******* universe sucks
Homelander carries the show and he’s the worst thing ever, people love watching bad people
John Wick is another example
That shit would go straight ass
I'm going to be honest I thought of a very different butcher
Wick is just avenging his dog
john wick is a moral character tho
there is a reason that wasnt made and never will be
Oi oi ‘omelanduh stole me son.
40k would definitely need to be modified a bit to fit with mainstream
No it wouldn't
It doesn’t
Nah it wouldnt
i do feel sorry for the guy who is playing homelander because even though he does amazing acting people think that he's the literal character
people love violence and gore
like as if he can stop a train or shoot lasers
Everything else nah lol
"I'm sorry, did you just call god a C-word?"
Also like, do you think marines are gonna be stomping orphans and kicking puppies?
They’re gonna have them shooting Orks
Or whatever
funnily enough he has a fear of heights lol
God I hope so
*The shirt MM is wearing
like, literally everyone in here im sure has watched a violent movie they were extremely young to see and came out just fine.
It has nothing to do with mainstream censorship/toning down.
to me toning down means not having human slavery be normal and just vile grimdank shit
too much friday the 13th here
It will 100% be kept in
BUT it will be treated as bad
It'll be treated as bad from the Pov Character prolly
what are you, a southerner?
but everyone else won't give a shit
not in the 40k world. like how often does a character remark on how fucked servitors are
the PoV character will most likely be somewhat relatable to modern sensibilities imo
Dude you’re actively looking for a reason it won’t work
that's what i mean
to be fair steallaris has "slavery" and that games rated for children
Toning down grim dark stuff in a setting known for being grim dark is uh
Starlight in every fight be like
🖐️⚪
thats not changing the setting though? there's a lot of people who like
find Servitors and Slavery disagreeable but like
space slavery is fine for 7 year olds
stellaris is a single video game not a whole setting
Also like why do they even need to spotlight it
Why would it come up
They gotta learn somewhere
i can literally bring up the Daemonculaba and there is still worse things in the ******* setting so what's the point of turning it down
what is even the context behind this original video
Lost Cause myth
lmao
oh
the orks using humans for cattle for example
Lol
like using the dark themes of 40K has been one of its strong suit
Like yes we know marines do fucked up things, they’re not gonna open with marines BBQing an orphanage
they should

Hopefully one day
LOL
Maybe an Orkphanage
Really make it seem like they are true villains because they are
Fuck you that means free Gretchen BBQ
i can assure you all that for the setting to be sold to casuals it must leave us lore nerfs unsatisfied
Cant forget the scene where Chapter Master Homelander tells a depressed hive-factorum worker to jump off a building.
there is no in between
So you would rather appeal to the outsiders than the actual fans
That totally worked in a lot of circumstances
Dude if I get to see a marine well done in live action I’m happy
I think you're being overly paranoid
i like seeing things crash and burn
okay so you're just being argumentative
If I get to see Eisenhorn realized on TV
I’m happy
I don’t care if they make sure to spotlight every dirty detail
is it your favorite warhammer book series?
because his forbidden word girlfriend just died
It’s up there I’d say
I don't look for very deep plots a lot so a lot of my warhammer books are just there for dumb fun
Not sure what I would put above it
funniest part though is homelander didnt even like her for that, even he thought that was just weird
And there’s the thing with this too.
We are watching this fucked up stuff for entertainment.
It’s awful
But it’s also like fun. It’s fun watching Antony Star be so fucked up.
Yeah it is let me replay the scene five more times
To quote Redlettermedia, we fucking love human misery
He’s by far the best part of the show
watching a villain just be a villain is actually ******* fun
Especially this season yikes
He hates his fans because they keep thinking he's ACTUALLY like homelander in person
Like
40k lore is barely set in stone
LMAO
to me it's to show how modern fascism doesn't give a shit about anything except wanting power and powerful figures
You can ret away with a ton of shit
I think you missed the point guys
He should probably stop glassing them at bars then
"but my redeemable villain" yeah that boring stuff get that out of there
He's NOT the good guy
Homelander is basically a Superhuman hitler-tier supremacist but his racism goes above that, its literally speciest more than anything to do with ethnicity
Yeah I said that above
which is even more fucking funny
People literally associating fiction from reality
He’s Homelanderist
really need to be hammered in the head
^
He doesn’t even like most supes
The entire reason he makes racist remarks sometimes is simply because hes an asshole.
well yeah, she was a means to and end so was her beliefs, homelander didnt care about what she believed beyond it fufilling his own needs
thats it
he doesnt even have an ideology he just likes being better than everyone, which is the worst part since that's basically how a lot of people think
Also the threat he made to Starlight where OK expose me I will just burn down the world
he knows he's at the top of the food chain and he can get away with it
Yeah this too, hes different shades of supremacist
he's a ******* monster
But anyways, the point being
People are perfectly fine watching fucked up people
If it’s well done
I think his interactions with the hitler girl was funny post-injury
or this season even if it’s not
She's like "You MUST spread your superior genes" and he's just there getting a handie like "...yeah sure"
Fucks sake that scene with Hughie in the vents made me wanna get lasered through the head
the special effects this season are wild
Can’t wait til season 5 when they’re actually gonna have something happen
He likes the ubermensch treatment but spreading it will make him not unique
Which is terrifying to him ig
they kinda have no idea what to do with hughie anymore huh
Whats that suppose to mean
They don’t know what to with anyone because it makes no sense anymore
bruh
It’s a filler season, I enjoy it but
It’s very much a lot of suspension of disbelief
Calling it "filler" is a bit much
Flying goat
Is this the vent scene again
It’s a lot of stuff
its actually funny seeing people not understand the hospital scene, like if they can kill this supe like that why wont it work on homelander
i just noticed that he isn't the focus of the show anymore and his whole dad side plot kinda goes nowhere except to get simon pegg off the show
like with that logic why dont they just shove c 4 up homelanders butt if it worked on another guy
because most supes wont lie in a bed relaxed letting you stick a syringe in them
Rocket at him, fly over and blast him
idk why this is so hard to grasp
they had to calm Hughie's dad down after he killed like 6 people
lmao
it made me cry a bit yeah because i've experienced having a family member with dementia
also they did the antman joke
My issue was the hyper violence threw off the tone a lot
I thought the tone was hyper violence
They'd have to actually do it, it's like the Ant Man/Thanos thing
That being said an actual effort to kill him would probably end with him dead
But the main characters are basically just CIA sanctioned terrorists after a certain point so
the hyper violence is just amazon series being edgy
I don’t dislike it but it’s definitely a lot worse than season 1-2
The lobotomy scene was basically me after visiting r/40klore
the show literally starts with a girl being exploded by A Train
no
it starts with homelander and maive
I don’t mind the violence
I don't like the gore sfx
I mind the tone issues they have sometimes
It's like playing fallout new Vegas with bloody mess
I think season 3, 4 and 5 are way more violent
Isn't literally one of the people in the show have a superpower that his penis can stretch super long
Where sometimes I’m supposed to care and be horrified
Love Sausage 💀
love sausage
Other times it’s like half a joke
That's Comrade Love Sausage
In the comic was also quite out there so the show being that is a not surprising
they should bring back jensen ackles
They will at some point
every show is better with jensen ackles
true
Like they’re doing a goofy scene with Hughies dad murdering multiple people and he’s spinning around in his body, and then next they’re all crying as he’s euthanizing him
also as a supernatural fan i enjoy the reuse of actors
it was pretty fucking scary
So like an average comedy in a warhammer book
especially since he had dementia
yeah goofy is not the right word for that
^
It’s definitely played for comedic effect with the hospital bed guy
i was literally expecting him to kill his wife and was very much semi-mortified
since all the people he phases through are innocent folks
i did not see it that way
okay but the joke there is you know that terrible person is going to die
^
He should have tbh at least that would have made me feel better
You semi-mortified?
💀
wow that is scary
if we wasnt saying he is a "nice guy" and being creepy to the nurse that scene is very different
to be fair
I mean I don’t really consider a guy hitting on a nurse a “terrible person”
his rizz DID work
he was being creepy?
Which is my other issue
go up to someone and tell them you are a "nice guy"
They’re clearly setting it up like somehow I should find that funny and almost ok
I mean i really dont think so still
It’s just weird
nothing in the hospital chapters was funny
and it wasnt even suppose to be
especially the moment you see Hughie's dad doesnt remember the mom leaving the room
and you go "oh fuck"
That’s kinda my tonal issue point
it still feels like they did all that because simon pegg wanted off the show imo
They have all that
And then suddenly we have this goofy scene of his dad spinning around in a dude
He wasn’t on the show
He just came back for a final thing
I don’t think he even appeared in season 3?
I don’t mind that really
hughies dad wasnt even a side character
he was just a plot point
and that plot point has ended
the previous seasons usually had a single overarching plot point like them trying to kill homelander last one
Also fuck me I hate what they’ve done with Frenchie. And no I don’t care that he’s bi. I just hate his side plots.
i dont even know what their goal is rn
It’s so boring and we’ve basically already done it
like every character is doing something different
what do you mean hes fr*nch, so they cant make him worse than he already was/is
Truuuuu
and it's super weird how all of a sudden homelander has his shit together
I wouldn’t say that. I think his arc is the one that’s working
i can already tell that smart supe is either going to take control or die suddenly from homelander
And Butcher and the tumor and the totally not hallucinated friend and wife
no a train is gonna do something
A train is probably gonna die this season I think
Also the Deep, I always enjoy the Deeps scenes.
the deep trying to act tough was actually really funny at least
Sage is fine, idk. Super smart characters are a big gamble
giving the anchorman the death stare without explaining lmao
the deep is a chacter you love to watch suck
I kinda hope they reveal shes like
everything the deep does is a failure
her having a master plan would be actually interesting but also super predictable
and i really dont like supersmart characters
Idk I do like the concept of she lobotomizes herself to let off stress with the deep it is funny and it’s an interesting idea but I don’t find her writing to be compelling
It’s a lot of tell don’t show
The actress is fun though
Firecracker and her accent is hot so….yeah
i cant wait for her gruesome death
The deep is funny as shit though
I’m so done with Starlight too they have no idea what to do with her
I hope she gets better but fuck me
Today, The Deep is proud to announce a renewed partnership with Liquid Death. Two years ago, he taught children to bring death to plastic, and now he is educating them on the dangers of sugar. He takes his job as role model and health & wellness ambassador Deep-ly serious!
it's like they're only developing the evil characters this season
Deep Thoughts is great too
The issue is last season they had Soldier boy to drive stuff more and they kinda have to just slowly escalate stuff this season
So season 5 can have stuff go actually nuts
Hopefully
the ironic part is the deep is always eating junk food on the show
Also next season or later this season they’ll probably bring Soldier Boy back
Which would help a lot.
jensen ackles is also an extremely fun actor
which helps a lot
i love him so much
Basically
He’s got a lot of charisma and it’s a fun character
Last seasons ending was, ugh.
homelander killing somebody in plain daylight and being declared innocent seems like another trump jab
doesnt seem to have gone anywhere
oh wait i remember their plan now
they're trying to kill the head popping lady
but she's also sorta on their side
It’s a whole thing
Unfortunately her and the Hughie actor are a couple irl, possibly engaged I think? So their chemistry is too good.
Shame
they also brought back giancarlo
who will play the same character until he dies
what's wild to me is that homelander's kid actor aged so much and the two actors from gen V dont seem one day older
Yeah I kinda wish they didn’t make the kid do that voice
Just say he went through puberty
It's two different kids right?
He’s doing a good job despite having to put on that goofy voice
Like they're identical twins
I'd hope it's still both of them, imagine how awkward it would be if one of them got fired
I was thinking with House of the Dragon with the twin bodyguards
Who are actually twins
Did they ever like, switch roles?
I remember a behind the scenes thing about that in seasn 1
Was it always the “right” twin?
They did a fantastic job because they both did great and I couldn’t tell who was who really lol
I think on the confrontation between Otto and Rhaenyra on the bridge it was the same twin playing both because one of them was unavailable for shooting
Yeah I figured maybe something like that would happen
So they just filmed it in a way where he just switched places on where he was standing depending on the angle
Frees up schedules
Oh, looks like although they're identical twins they never used both for the Boys
Cameron was hired, not Nicholas
Although
No, okay apparently they used Nicholas as a stand in, but he's not credited on IMDB
Yeah iirc they used to do stuff when they were younger
But apparently the other isn’t as interested in acting or something
The stance on this one always kills me
they look like they're barely 20
They’re like 12 in that
Oh nvm
shit damn
It's standard Holywood, 30 years play teenagers and college students
they really found the youngest looking millenials to play gen Z
Antony Starr on that position
Seeing Anthony Starr behind the scenes with him is fun though
Hey 27 is still Gen Z
yeah he does not deserve getting branded to be like in personality as homelander
Well, I will say
Glassing someone at a bar is uh
Not great
He seems like he’s mostly a fun person to be around but idk that shits kinda wild
You think they choke the chicken together or solo?
Especially since he didn’t really get in trouble for it or have to serve time.

I wonder if they compare lengths ever
matthew broderick (inspector gadget/ferris) killed a mother and child in ireland and faced no penalty for it
Not saying this was a free option
I would say that’s not great either
Yep, he wasn't arrested for it because it would have disrupted his filming schedule
Roman Polanski molested an underage girl at Jack Nicholson's house and fled the US to france as a wanted pedofile and won the oscar for best picture for directing the pianist while being a fugitive decades later
hiding in france bc they wont extradite him to US
He got like a £200 fine and never even apologised for it
Ted Kennedy is another good example
I have a mental list of horrible things famous people have done going
He’s dead now at least though I guess
Still got to be a fucking senator
After he left a girl to die
Karl Malone impregnated a teenage girl when she was like 14 and he was a grown man and just pretended they didn't exist for a decade and got away with it until people dug it back up
well he still got away with it
Caitlyn Jenner killed someone in a car crash
Uhhhhhh let's see who else
Eddie Murphy was allowed to make multiple nutty professor movies
He was even paid for them
Eddie Murphy had a trans prostitute killed once they started talking about how they were fucking him
the daddy daycare actor?
Shalimar Seiuli, (July 6, 1976 – April 22, 1998) known professionally as Shalimar or Atisone Seiuli, was an American Samoan transgender dancer and public figure who gained infamy when she was seen getting into the car of the actor Eddie Murphy.
On May 2, 1997, Seiuli, a sex worker, was being watched by police before getting into Murphy's SUV. Se...
we need to resurrect mister rogers and make him president of the world
there is no other way
I don’t think that’s a totally fair summary of the whole wild series of events
Maybe he did but he did also successfully sue for defamation when a magazine tried to run the story
