also you obviously have to be REALLY REALLY devoted for that one excess to cause a conversion to slaanesh based on basically every cultist and imperial zealot we've ever seen
if someone at GW was forced to rationalize it they'd probably say that excess devotion to khorne or nurgle involves so much of doing their thing that it outweighs the excess element? and that tzeentch followers are all schemers
^
It still goes to Slaanesh to a certain degree but it would become almost microscopic.
the codexes acknowledge this and explain it generally through what Seythi has said above
yeah if you're super duper into khorne you're probably doing a whole lot of killing
Yeah pretty much this
Slaanesh is parasitic but it depends on the person/their devotion etc
i bet a lot of slaanesh cults grow out of "regular" cults
i guess i dont really have to guess that's what happens
Thats usually the case yeah, anything with "overdoing it to the point of excess" is what entails it.
Because excess can be just about anything
Its funny how the excessiveness of each god ends up fueling another one in a weird self destructive cycle

there are SO many rage baiting youtubers talking about femstodes with AI generated art
I hit dont reccomend channel on all of them but im on like number 40

"I know nothing of this franchise, but I may as well talk about it...."
thats like 95% of them
And that’s why the Imperial Guard are my favorite faction, outside of its real life military aspect. It’s the common men and women taking on the seven layer bullshit dip of Xenos and Chaos.
Saves me the trouble of “inclusiveness”. Both boys and girls embrace the suck
yea i read some short stories when I was getting into warhammer (im a big sci nerd) that showed men and women together in the guard and it really sold me on warhammer in general
maybe thats why it never bothered me that astartes are all guys, I feel like even in the oldest books ive read there are female characters that are as interesting as the male ones
horus heresy though is all about the boys xD
Question, is the vampire faction resisted to disease and illness if it comes from nurgle and his family?
I know this is a dumb question but it just came to me and I figured I’d ask in this chat.
They're undead not immune to the effects of decomposition
they are undead and are mostly immune to most types of diseases but since Nurgle is magical
The immunity is canceled out
especially diseases designed specifically to make someone go insane
Interesting
practically speaking yeah
Yeah unless it's like a very very magical disease they are practically immune to most of it
Nurgle can’t have that ! lol
Well hes not of reality, thus his diseases are magical in nature and dont follow how traditional diseases work
Used to not vibe with the Aldari and now they're slowly becoming a favorite of mine
I'm learning Magnus pulled a Kratos from God of war
"ARES DESTROY MY ENEMIES, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS"
It’s not quite they’re immune, as they’re still a corpse but their necromantic magic pulls the flesh together to twist the body into appearing human or at least still stuck together so most diseases aren’t that much more compared to being a corpse
Does the machine god have a presence in the warp in the same vain that the emperor or ynnead does?
I mean machine spirits do some wonky things so Ive always felt like they do
similar to the whole 40k setting as a whole were belief makes things real
plus they can get cursed by demons and become evil machine spirits
a little of column A "its just AI/programming that they dont understand" and column B "some machines actually do have machine spirits", especially things made using biological material and the like
Anyone else have the feeling that space marine 2 is going to be a disaster? The longer time goes on the more i feel that way. Something just feels off.
it's not unlikely
Theres 100% signs for it
but its not super certain
The main hunch I have is the 3 previews we got so far showing more or less "nothing."
Like the visuals are great, the combat looks cool, the sceneries are amazing but... thats basically it.
Anything aside from that is just Titus fighting against the same Gaunts/Warriors on repeat.
Imagine if the only thing that goes right in the game (on release that is) are those exact segments shown.
And everything else is just bugged to heck and back.
LMAO
Please no make ogryn fear worse
Would be worstest day
It seems that the combat won't get repetitive as much as the first one at least but I just hope that the story is at least decent
Hope we see ogryn's. It is un-bye-assed oponion.
Lets hope they take after Darktides version of ogryns.
Agreed! Or... lore accurate ogryns yes?
We had handsomest ogryn faces!
Not lot of teeth in them
(also able to count to 5 without choking on their spit which is nice)
Unfortunately they would be pretty much dumbed down if that's the case
The ones in dark tide are very smart
And the dumbest one is a bone head
True. But least we see them yes?
Want to see bullgryn killing big bugd!
I like to think, that since GW is so handsy with the IP. That they actually wany ogryns to be like DTS. And move away from the actual child IQ
at this point i just unfortunately expect nothing from games
That's a fair argument but it's also GW they may also not just care in the 1st place and stick to their accurate representation
Simple
From what ive seen, at least that game has pretty fairly priced mtx so at least theres that. Unless they pull a fatshark.
The child IQ is honestly more aggravating than cool or whatever
Ogryn intelligence in Darktide is way better than the lore
Darktide does a good job with ogryns
also bashing away the dumb presedence GW set about them
like all ogryns somehow being claustrophobic
like??? lol
or just all being "nice"
Bully is a great example
Also not a good sign when the parent corpo owner sold off the SM2 studio at a large loss just months prior to SM2’s launch. And Embracer was hailing SM2 as going to be its largest hit ever during a last year quarterly call (prior to the release delay)
He is definitely a lot meaner but he is actually quite composed and pretty cool headed
He is even capable of stressing good strategy and providing insightful insights on how the water cartel are massive annoying runts
It’d be like MS selling Bethesda 120 days before Elder Scrolls 6’s launch
Its also just a better move for dialogue and characters. Them being as smart as they are now is far more endearing than GW ogryn who ate a rock or some shit
Prerelease we had so many people taking the sparse lore bits or characterizations from DOW as locked in canon
Or worse, grimdank memes
Like someone I remember argued ogryns were a bad choice because they were too stupid to open doors or reload weapons
Giving them like simple thinking similar to orks is like the best move in my opinion
A good chunk of orks are seen as stupid because of how straightforward they are
ugh
that level of stupid is just imposible to believe
they just could not function
There are orks that really can't get super complex Stuff but can stick up for themselves that they don't look like a dumb idiot
Yeah exactly
Ork intelligence lets you have the funny stuff and have room for..anything remotely interesting besides jokes
that's why dark tide is pretty good with ogryns
Even the dumbest one is pretty interesting
because even though his brain is being fried
Pretty much still capable of thinking for himself
Their characterization is one of the highlights of the game
I would say they are the best characterization of ogryns next to cassia
Like they may not be book smart intelligent but they can have a certain slyness to them
That ogryn has some great hidden depth to his character, because under the whole "nosh and rashun" bit he is a PTSD ridden man
"Always ready to serve...even when it hurts" is delivered so well
i must find the line
It's also a lil tragic that he has a hard time remembering people's names
Or events for that matter, Luke why he's even here
Like*
His implant is literally cooking his brain
If he doesn't get that shit replaced he is going to die horribly
Yeah it's not even making him smarter
Yeah and he still fights it's very inspiring and sad
Mhmmm

This time stamp
its actually so sad
Don't have the words..time to be quiet
are there crocs in 40k
yes
who wears them
rich people that can afford the materials
Ogryns evolved to focus on survival more than intelligence. It was a needed adaption to the harsh planets they were on
you'd think intelligence was the thing needed for survival
i'm overthinking 40k again
Arithmetic and such doesn't really help with basal level survival
I mean they do show intelligence tho
Keep in mind, in darktides cosmetic descriptions “real synthetic leather” is highlight as something almost boujee
the places they ended up in absolutely will brutalize you if you don't have the physical body to handle it
synethetic materials are widespread yep
its mentioned a lot in books
ogryn worlds are thing
Saints Row 3 Moment
we never even evolved to do math we're just overusing our squishy brains that were really good at throwing rocks
those Brutes
lmaooo
My God every time I wanted to shove a grenade in their mouth
Oleg just being a giga-ogryn that gets cloned is too 40k
Oh ye I know, I just meant that atoma had a vat grown strain of ogryns
wait WHAT
Polyester is a synthetic material. I don't know what that means in context lol
ohh
really
Yeah!
Same, i think they just put "synth" infront of any fabric and think its sci-fi enough lol
Synthetic synthetic threads
I liked that. Since there are so many ogryns on atoma
Synth synthetic threads
i think that explains how the enemies have so much of the fucks
I thought that was just because it's a whole ass regiment
It’s cool world building. HIDDEN IN PREMIUM COSMETICS
Destiny 2 moment
SO THAT'S WHY THEY CAN SEND FUCKING 10 CRUSHERS ON A FUCKING HORDE
I cast 20 fucking crusher rush
Apparently no one knows why so many ogryns were signed onto the regiments. But now they are here no one’s complaining
I cast 10 Crushers, 5 Bulwarks, 20 Maulers
Look at the Moebians with their hoighty toighty Ogryn factories
pretty funny how if the imperium was made of 80% ogryn it would probably be more efficient
Wuz tha’t? I’ll giv yoou somfun to snivel about puny
Reminds me of that bit of lore in Necromunda of some hive hanger who had a higher success rate of creating psyker ogryns than the Imperium does creating Space Marines
Is it possible to be any less efficient?
It ogryns weren’t dumb as rocks they would be more adapted to live in the 40k universe than normal humans
That’s my hot take
they do exactly as they're told
Based take
They are capable of human level thinking if they aren't you know kept dumb as shit
Ogryn custodes when
Humans that are 10 feet tall and are physically strong enough to topple a tank?
Stop I can only get so erect bro
Ogryns were always custodes
yeah they would be pretty horrifying
15 foot tall ogryn post custodification
That’s fair, so really
Ogryns are the next step in evolution
Inquisition putting stims in the water to dumb ogryns fown
Down
AND MAKE OUR LIVING SAINTS GAY
Ogryn can beat up a tank, space marined ogryn fights knights
I feel like when our bone head Ogryn stutters. That isn’t him struggling with the word, that’s the bone head malfunctioning. So he gives up and speaks more plainly. You can hear how frustrated he gets with that
Love my big man
It’s tragic
Let's help our big man....
You mean even more gay?
More gay sounds good 😊
make the shitty rage bait videos stoppppp
my algoooo
my sweet algoooo
i perish.....
That’s like what, a buck fifty in Adsense dollars?
the thing that pisses me off the most is all these rage videos showing images of gay and trans identity as if this has anything to do with a custodes having boobs
like no they're not adding gay sex to 40k calm down you fucking chud
I think it comes from the fact that gays and trans typically come from the political left side, which is typically very progressive
E V I L
So yeah it becomes very easy for someone to suddenly start blaming the left/LGBT+ because of something small as this
They should go to a completely unpolitical series, like fallout!
It also shows that these people don't interact with gay and trans people, because they are very much not all leftist
Note this is coming from my own speculation of my own feelings when I used to be part of that kinda group, which tbh is a lil hard to describe
Honestly kinda right
Parts of the online trans community actually has a serious Nazi problem tbh
How does that occur?
Lots of Nazbols as well
Self hate plays a part, but there’s some studies on it.
Ever seen Nazifurs?
I think that's the term anyway
a Furry Nazi?
Seen 'em yeah
Least on screenshots and shit never met one
Yeah Id imagine theyre interesting

It's probably because a lot of trans people feel incredibly miserable at young ages which makes them likely to end up falling down the alt right pipeline and then when they realise that they're trans and come to terms with that most of them move away from the alt right and deconstruct that world view, while others don't and continue to build their identity around it.
Hmm
It's not always Nazis though, it can be any sort of fringe extremist views, met a trans Orthodox Theocratic Tsarist once, that was wild.
That--what
Orthodox Theocratic Tsarist
I've met a non-trans one
what the hell is that
also an interesting person
Like supreme belief in the power of the Russian Tsar and their divine right to rule as given by the god of the Orthodox faith
ohh
Divine Right of Kings but for Tsars
Jesus
people been doing some mental gymnastics what the hell
Yea, Divine Right of King, but specifically that the Russian Tsar is gods chosen monarch of the world
They keep track of the bloodlines and argue over which descendent should be made the new Tsar
Who has the best claim, is the closest in the line of succession from the last Tsar, who is most deserving of the descendents etc etc
But the whole family line was killed, no?
Na there were lots of cousins and uncles and aunts
So that's why they called this atrocity of a nuke the Tsar bomba
Very fitting considering this thing is the strongest nuke humanity has made
*that has been recorded
You think tzeentch works to help people cure disease to annoy nurgle?
Probably
He is about evolution and golden ages
I wouldn't be too surprised if he snuck in cures to diseases* when he's able
-
- With a catch
New Scaven engineer
Love the spyglass
I wouldnt doubt it. Tzeentch fucks with his own guys for the meme lol
For better see sight, yes yes
Tzeentch gives zero fucks about his own cult. Really is the polar opposite of Nurgle
I wonder if we'll see Emnric von Horstmann in tww at some point?
That'd be sick
Dual Lore of Light/Tzeentch wizard on a Chaos Dragon be baller
Wasn't there a datamined mention of him ? And tbh for Tzeentch there isn't really any one left to lead a dlc
Galrauch is more of a LH material I'd say
I think Emnric is literally a random lord name for Chaos Warriors
I realize I can't spell, it's Egrimm van Horstmann
It also depends I guess on what's left for Chaos' roster in general
I know people like their new units, but if the roster is done, give me those lords
I've lost complete interest since I've seen what the Dwarf are getting in ToD
You've lost interest with the Thunderbarge?
I don't play too many rts, I just like my funny rats and silly schemer daemons
my interest peaked when i saw the dwarf units
So when the Imperium loses a world to Chaos, does the Dark Mechanicum just sort of follow them around and step in to start maintaining/corrupting all the leftover imperial guard equipment?
the altfurs iirc
they sorta do whatever takes their fancy, they're very unorganized like the rest of chaos.
They do like stealing Forge Worlds though
a dumb name for a truly dumb group

Pretty much
imagine what everything admech does right
just more daemons/spikes
that is literally it
Especially since admech do a shit ton of evil shit, so theres almost no difference minus the paranormal stuff in the mix lmao
Daemonengines are pretty cool
Love the metal dragon one
Still coping on Darm Mechanicum enemies in Darktide, Atoma Prime seems like a pretty valuable world with all its fancy metal
did they change Zola's scars?
was always the same im sure
must just be misremembering
she looked like she as more than before but its been a long time
Unfortunately they are everywhere
“Guess who just evolved to throw rocks? Your entire evolutionary arms race is just fucked”
They do be like that
- Humanity, probably
these mferrs legit need to make out smh
I kinda love how a “miraculous machine spirit” is not very different from actual AI
But one is beloved and the other is despised
the rogue trader game addresses that directly actually, its a neat plotline in 40k
It’s really shown in RT where pasqual is like “fuck idk, what do you think?”
yea xD
I feel like something that gets lost really hard in translation in the 40k setting is that
the current imperial religion is actually a "reform" religion
like its the kinder, softer version of the imperial truth
there are a lot of reformers in the admech too
as crazy as the imperial truth as a religion is, there are tons of different interpretations and sects of it and its the same with the admech
pascal's name is funny because it's probably supposed to make you think of the pressure unit but in french it's a very normal name
it's like an admech being called steve
I mean theres a guy named Henreix as well
Its a very old programming language
(Named after a french guy)
Greetings, I have a couple questions about this channel. So this channel discusses all known 40k lore? And do you also have information on darktide?
We do.
we sometimes get off-topic but we the mods allow since it doesnt harm anyone so make yourself feel at home
What do you want to ask in particular?
For dartkide specific you can go to #theorycrafting
We answer those more often
Yeah but heres fine too, tends to be more calmer
Hey we're calm

Theory crafting gets a lil hectic but it never explodes with drama, usually
We're cooler 😎
Lil heretic more like
I'm a regular of both chats, for both are based
Hmmm, mmmh
So what is the question ?
What sort of answers do you seek....
Ask in both chat, let's compare which is more helpful
Ok, so to start out with this crash course catch up. In terms of the Imperium of Mankind. How much territory do they have (in your best estimate), and how are hives cities forged?
oh boy
Sorry if it's too broad of a question
Okay so the Imperium basically lays "claim" to the enitre galaxy but they only house a million worlds and also gain as much as they lose worlds on a daily basis due to being a nightmarish authoritarian regime + their own incompetence. Their territory is more of a "carpet" one than something concrete minus some planets since the Milky Way contains between 100 and 400 billion stars and at least that many planets.
Hive cities meanwhile are just forged from building structures ontop of each other hence why it looks like a massive spike going upwards to the sky
Hive cities are from an age where Humanity had tech that vastly surpassed the current tech level
im not sure theres any maps that have both terra and another real named place but there are settled worlds out to nearly the rim of the galaxy i think
one of the abnett characters was born in the Barnard's Star system which is real but not on any of the damn maps lol
The imperium is like a garbage bag full of holes draped over an open window
space empires are necessarily sparse though because most planets are totally useless
40k has a comical amount of habitable planets but we can blame the space frog lizard wizards for that
Yeah meanwhile IRL
we can barely find habitable planets at all
and some are just titanic monstrosities with super fucked up ecosystems
Nice dragon
im not sure they cant build hive cities anymore but i imagine they necessarily take thousands of years to develop
They can, it just takes a long time
hive cities are not marvels of technology, they are rickety ass hives as the name implies
they're kind of marvels but less than the big spaceships are
but yeah the imperium has "a million worlds" which is our best estimate and hive cities are built basically the same way favelas are
Right, so they, in their own zeal, lay claim to every planet, star, and system they can reach too. In regards to their territory what planets are the staple points to their existence. Whether it be the first planets they claimed or systems that are held vital to the Imperium.
And the cities they hold a much bigger purpose than just to hold people inside
Btw if y’all want lore, you can dm me questions too
I don’t mind
the others got some industrial capability but thats about it
Hmm
i think they all have industrial capability
Most serve a purpose, the imperium doesn’t house people for the fun of it
what's the point of a human if they arent making lasguns
their core purpose is to house a planet's population since the worlds they inhabit thend to be super fucked and the population needsa more ""suitable"" place to reside
the problem is hivecities are also awful lol
But livable, technically
Just live up on the upper levels, sounds like a skill issue
But are there some planets that can be sustainable to be able to live outside a hive city?
hive cities at the very least provide guardsmen
Yes
Rarely
But those usually the imperium fucks up through industry
pleasure worlds or agricultural worlds, or just ones that arent developed enough
So the people are reliant on the imperium
Most Hive World produce low tech things, like various Chems, forged weapons and that sort of things
Can there be multiple hive cities on one planet?
Yes, but the thing with Imperial worlds is.
Worlds start out well enough, they pay the tithe to the wider Imperium and go on with their lives, but through generations and sometimes centuries of industrialisation, mining, and other things we do IRL but more extreme; the planet more or less entirely becomes hollowed out after a certain point.
And yes
My favorite activity, praise the god emperor for his beneficence!
tertium is one of at least 2, probably 3 hive cities on atoma
Most hive world have more than 1. Atoma has at least 3
I understand now...

40k at least has the sense to not cover entire planets in a single city (except Terra)
Hold up, afk...
most hive cities are the size of a country
plus TWO EXTRA FLOATING CONTINENTS
And it is glorious
If you want the terra experience go to china, its great
Lol
Terra truly is the holiest place in the master’s domain
For all the coal fires
Eh so what? Coal gets hot, it’s kinda it’s thing
least sociopathic minecraft player
Lol
Oh and if you’re interested in a crash course in warp travel, I got a summary for you!
Maybe later
the crash course on warp travel is "lol"
In summary, The Imperium of Man holds claim to the entire galaxy and can only control what they can reach and maintain by warp travel.
Hive Cities are collagerment of structures stacked on top of each other. Not only housing the population of the hive planet, but also serve a purpose of industry, agriculture, or reliquary to the Imperium.
Pretty much
yeah basically
they can control planets basically to the edge but there's plently of people trying to conquer imperial planets and vice versa, hence the constant war
yeah the Imperium uses planets through either itself or its enemies
Also quick primer, living in the imperium fucking sucks, do not let anyone tell you otherwise, this is the primary theme of the setting is to satirize it
a single planetary governor can simply fuck up and doom his/her entire planet too lol
^
Everyone is awful
Theres no good guys
just pick your shade of comedic evil and go with it
theres one faction of good guys...
Monke...
There’s some small flickers of hope in the dark
when the jokaero family lands on the imperial agri world
yeah that revolver is at least a lascannon in the metaphor lol
Right next topic for today. I want to discuss the Imperium main line of defense. The Imperial guard.
Yes, any specificities?
Right; how many official factions, or "branches" of the guard, are there. And is the word Mobian a slang word for a regiment of a guard or is it like an official faction?
The game takes place within a region called the Moebian Domain
So it's to signify where they're from
Yes, there are unnumbered regiments, even Cadia on its own has uncountable regiement
The guard are split up into Regiments, any given world could have any number of regiments drawn from it. People mentioned the Tithe earlier and some worlds give their tithe in the form of Regiments for the Imperial Guard
Ooh, so this domain makes up most of the Imperium's secured territories?
No
No its an incredibly tiny fraction
this is the galaxy we are talking about here, its gigantic
It's a small sector in the Imperium, it was never even mentioned before the game came about
Yes, they are the TAU
the galaxy is divided into segmentums which are further divided into much smaller domains
Ooh
i think there are sectors between segmentums and domains too
we're not sure how many inhabited planets are in the moebian domain, at least a dozen maybe a hundred or two?
Hmmm
Its unclear, but the Moebian Domain is not gigantic
its somewhere on the edge of segmentums solar and scarus
Sectors are large, but space is 95% empty
Moebian Domain is part of the Cadian sector isnt it @storm jungle
its "near cadia"
I don't thing they're near it
Lots of worlds will develop their own culture surrounding the Regiments and that's where you will see a lot of variations, but the default currently are the Cadians, but there are also others like the Vostroyan Firstborn, Praetorian Guard, Valhallan Ice Warriors, Catachan Jungle Fighters, Death Korps of Krieg, Elysian Drop Troops, Armageddon Steel Legions, Maccabian Janissaries, Mordant Acid Dogs, Savlar Chemdogs, Scintillan Fusiliers, Tallarn Desert Raiders, Tanith First and Only etc etc etc
^
I was curious about it because of some of the texts I read about specific guard members being in certain mobian regiments, like the Moebian 46th and such. And our main heretical enemy the Moebian 6th
thats just IRL army stuff
from what we know the moebian domain is probably some small portion of this area, we dont really know where
where a standing army will be spread up into numbered groups
Yea every so often they form a new Regiment and stick a bigger number on it
That makes much more sense
most of the regiments are named after their founding planet its kinda odd that the moebian regiments are named after the domain
but its probably just to avoid confusion
Hmm
Ultramarines entered the chat
Probably isn't able to make enough troops per planet for it
no they do their foundings per planet, like the loyalist moebians we have around are all from one ocean planet
i think its literally so casual players dont get confused by having 10 different regiment names
The Atoman 10th does sound badass
Most of the issues for the moebian domain
Are its fringe worlds
Their regiment name is probably because they fight under one sector lord’s banner, and its the entirety of Moebia instead of a world
Or something like that
Moebia is also just a nice word to say

but yeah there are a LOT of regiments
before cadia got exploded they were maintaining something like 1000 full strength regiments
Now I don't really be put into interrogation, because I have some questions that would arouse suspicion of my loyalty to the Imperium. But, how does the heretical guard come about and what the whole deal of Moebian 6th?
They were once a loyal Imperial Regiment like any other, but they got corrupted during their time in the Fringe War
Where they were fighting off the Darktide
What's the Fringe War?
It's a constant war the Moebian Domain fights at the fringes of their territory against a vast assortment of threats known only to the common people as the Darktide
Although it's not one unified force they fight against, it's just lots of different enemy groups, from Chaos Cults to Xenos threats
Ooh, hence the name of the game, "Darktide"
Oh we can tell you all about that
And we can tell you about Chaos if you wish to know
We have such sights to show you
And you'll promise not to interrogate me or turn me into a servitor. Mr. Inquisitor, sir? (Note: both my comments about being under the suspicion of an inquisitor is mostly a joke and you can go along with it)
No not at all, you’re apart of the warband now, and besides you’ll probably die in a month or less
So for those that aren't a 8 ft human super soldier that fell into the clutches of Chaos during the Horus Heresy. How does a regular turncoat work as chaos?
More specifically, we now know that the 6th were corrupted on the planet Nox Alpha that seems to have been plagued by various nurgle diseases. They had a really bad time fighting there.
it festers in hive cities, where citizens lead oppressed and cruel existences. it can take root in Guard regiments, fighting harsh wars and dying by the thousands, sure to never see their homes again. it lives inside cursed books, lurks in the dark, threads the very air
regular people that turn to Chaos become members of cults, or warbands, or Traitor Guard regiments, or corsair fleets, or any number of dissident and heretical elements
in Darktide we deal with two different kinds: the Admonition, aka the "dregs" , a Chaos cult worshipping Nurgle that is made up out of citizens of Hive Tertium
and the Moebian Sixth regiment of Traitor Guard, aka the "scabs"
in this case both elements work together to stage an insurrection against the Imperium and spread the Blight
The voices promise better basically
yeah. they believe they are saving Tertium from oppression by the Imperium, and being shackled to fragile mortal bodies. Nurgle's diseases are horrible, but they also dull pain and turn bodies into bloated, hardy vessels
they think they're doing the right thing
Ok, the hobos make a little more sense now, but I guess I was about how the 6th came to be and what their motive is.
Until demons made of the concepts of ||RAPE||and LEMON JUICE do things you literally can’t imagine to you
they fought Chaos in the Fringe Wars and fell to its influence
the details are not known to us
except the planet of Nox Alpha yeah
Hmmm
We also know that there was some foul play with the nobles that control Atoma
we have new lore tidbits of the circumstances surrounding their fall from the Warp Echoes voicelines that the Martyr's Skulls make
Chaos corruption can also affect you mentally so you find worshippers jumping through tons of mental gymnastics
Wolfer turned traitor and massacred half of the Regiment, the ones that remained loyalists
"Heretics"
There are indications that they set up the 6th to be corrupted in some sort of power play or chaos scheme.
they were suffering massively, and Wolfer was seen with a "new priestess" before he turned Traitor. my guess is that he had a Chaos cultist, a witch? sorceress? whispering in his ear and promising him that he could save his men from their gruesome fate if he accepted Chaos
But usually the core reason tends to be kind of understandable
Save from a glorious death?
yeah, I believe the Admonition cult orchestrated both the Moebians fall to Chaos and the spread of the Blight on Atoma, and maneouvred the Sixth (already corrupted, unknown to the Imperium) to be recalled to Tertium once they spread the Poxwalker plague
only for the Moebians to turn on Atoma
i hope we get an assasination mission where we have to kill some heretic noble's powerful chaos bodyguard but the actual completion is walking up to the sniveling rich guy and beheading him with the authority of the inquisition
as Rannick says the Moebians very well may have been a "symptom."
since the drug labs imply this cult has been going for awhile
That's all I have for now, but thank you for giving me a crash course
I think the cult is a symptom as well
I'll probably ask more lore questions or topics throughout the week or so, it depends on my work schedule.
There's a Slaanesh cult amongst the Nobles pulling the strings, I feel it in my bones.

Noble Slaanesh cult and a deal with Drukhari, it's always Noble Slaanesh cults doing deals with Drukhari
damn i missed guard convo
gottem
This is what happens when you're not terminally online
currently sneaking in a saber turret in my daily printing (job related)
what a shame that GW got rid of most static units
I'm betting on if they do a Slaanesh cult. It will be from a technica guild
in the fall of cadia book at least one (1) heretic plane gets torn to shreds by hydras
hydra mentioned, i am happy
i need to make a custom regiment that's just straight flak oriented
like their homeworld has a lot of predator birds that they have to constantly shoot down
Na I need me some Crimson Court like corrupted Nobility designs
What this mean I wonders
Nothing, eldar assignments or eldar vocator
As always I suggest Eldar 5th Class
Blood will come from the Enforcer stations
Haha. No
The Warp it speaks to me, I only interpret the signs
I just had a shower thought: anything the Imperium has lost to time does not matter because time travel magics exist, and therefore you could easily bring back a pre heresy World Eaters subchapter back into the present or the like.
I’m trying to come up with how my fantasy sci fi FTL system works, I love the idea of it taking a detour through an alternate nightmare dimension because it’s faster
But I don’t just wanna steal from 40K
Steal from event horizon
And then the new Dune movies got inspired by 40k all over again
Meanwhile 40k steals chain weapons from Gears of War
skill issue clearly
Lol
Yes, but what?
And the cycle continues
I read but I don’t rember
So far the whole concept of the FTL system is involving the distilled concept of entropy to somehow travel faster than light
There’s something there but I don’t know what
Yup, you just get transported to the kinky sex dimension
Oh no not the light slapping and small dollops of wax

IM SO GLAD they finaly adapted the darktide universe into physical media
The action-packed Warhammer 40,000: Darktide video game is taking the action from the screen to the tabletop! Get a closer look at the new board game: https://bit.ly/49IiA6v

And its CRINGE
Fr?!
i felt there was so much un used potential with all that lore and backgroudn information we would have never seen
Oh dang, I was hoping it’d be good
short summary
we got no idea whats in the Blackstone Fortress-esque game cards though so we'll see i guess
yeah but, NECROMUNDA W
this box is literally the perfect start for otucasts lmao
Maggie thinking too big 💀
i can make 2 really fun lists from this box for necormunda
you gota great chaos cult starter and outcasts
Maybe something about being forced through all possibilities when you’re in the jump?
I honestly thought that was just trolling then I watched and its just recycled blackstone
Yeha lmao
I bet it plays near identically too
And also because of the recycled minis it just doesn't look like darktide at all
Not that BSF plays bad but
Lol
The pox walkers fit
Everything else doesn’t
It uses the blooded kit, 2 bsf minis, ogryn and kasrkin kit lol
Also poxwalkers
because everyone is wearing mint gear and looks like they didn't just get picked off a prison carrier
I hate
thta they didnt make custom minis
and you cant even say "oh they'd be too niche"
It would be easy too
its literally traitor guard and inquisition
they have the models
Should have just done cover art 4 characters
I would LOVE to field rejects as a killteam
^
GW actually has no idea how much this would sell
They could even do the newest Loyalist Moebian 6th armor tbh
Way dif look
Those seem easier to paint
I like how the ogryn model age really stood out in the trailer
Moebian 6th armor just looks so good I can’t get enough of it

Though I guess late 6e early 7e is almost 10 years old
7e minis look fine smh
Bullgryns look way better
Also if you want to get authentic ammount of pox walkers you can buy deathguard combat patrol
I unironically originally wanted to buy 2 and make pox horde army
But i realised the ammount of effort
And dropped the idea
Strive for the omnissiah's perfection
I am not biased
has anyone ever compiled all the combat music for rogue trader into a playlist?
uh not a playlist
Cause It would be good for TTRPGs in general
but the eniter OST has been posted awhile ago
Oh yeah ik
I just want the combat music though
but I dont necessarily want to dig through it
always worth googling "rogue trader combat music"
I just want the ambience music for non combat sections in TTRPGs and combat for combat
I did
just got the whole OST and various "rogue trader flavored songs"

which arent from the game
Like a wild magic roll, but thats kinda just the warp
I just realized that is basically just the Improbability drive but actually fleshed out
The board game box is funny
hope it's cheap
I paid like 15 usd for my black fortress zealot way back
It uses the entropy to just randomly search minorly extradimensional routes in space until it hits the one that takes you where you want, then starts travel
Not the best tip but you should try asking the question in some worldbuilding subreddits too.
some are actually helpful lol
Oh true
Dope ass idea
I was going to say this lol, you should use some of the other ftl tech from hitchhikers guide like bistromath
so the Corda and Winterscale rogue trader houses have been in the lore before the CRPG?
I doubt it? I think they made the expanse from scratch
It’s existing GW lore
Made for the tabletop rogue trader rpg
A really old map of it exists somewhere
It’s in the rpg source book
As fun as the iconoclast ending would be I doubt GW is gona make any of the video game endings canon
I think they'd be brutally crushed by a space marine force in like a couple of years. Certainly before the decade is over
Yeah, considering you unleash a fucking ||c'tan shard||
Tbf the iconoclast ending where the shard is your friend
Literally has it cut off anyway in
It's the "the power of friendship" ending
Also, a friendship with a c'tan is probably includes it fucking you over later
i ask because it seems the 2 houses are involved in a short story
or rather one of the creepy little fluff stories GW likes to make
the skull pit of Lucien's Breath
unless the Maw never opens up
then the whole sector is basically free of the imperium forever
Yeah
The ending seems like the maw is never opening again
Which means only way in would be for nids, eldar, Necrons
yeah
Unless the imperium learns to travel the webway lol
isnt the webway full of horrors all its own?
Some, since magnus ruined it for everyone
no i mean, i know of some stories and one of the quests in the CRPG talks about the "beasts of the webway"
Yes
There’s daemons, random warp creatures, clowns
Rarely some lost drukhari and craftworlders
Oh and psychic wasps
Those fall under warp creatures
things even the dark eldar fear
tbf everyone fears the clowns
Since they maintain the roads webway
They were common on prospero apparently
Do you have to do that to get the icono ending?
Either way the webway sucks lol
No
The other icono ending is the imperium bashes your skull in
Lol
cause I dont think a iconoclast would really want that thing out and about if they "care about lives or whatever"
Hm, guess I pick the shard
they were definitely in the webway before it was breached in that case (not that it really matters)
it didnt have daemons until magnus broke it afaik? but yeah theres plenty of nasty stuff to run into inside
harlequins are probably the safest thing to run into assuming its not a solitaire
There were some but very few
Once magnus broke the hole
The other daemons figured out how to break in slowly
So daemonic incursions sort of just happen now and the harlequins need to stop them
Before they get too bad
Either that or amputate that portion of the webway
well what if Vect wants to cause a disjunction in a part of the dark city?
will the clowns just ignore it or keep an eye on it?
Keep an eye on it I’d assume
honestly does Vect even do that?
especially if you're an eldar!
dark eldar even more so
well craftworlders do ok but i imagine dark eldar want to keep as much metaphysical distance from the warp as possible
there are probably at least a few ancient necron horrors wandering the webway in addition to the occasional fresh necron incursion
You could combine the idea with The Jaunt by Steven King. Basically FTL travel works like normal, going from point A to B, but time travels so slowly for the brain that you can go insane if you experience the FTL.
"The Jaunt" is a horror short story by Stephen King first published in The Twilight Zone Magazine in 1981, and collected in King's 1985 collection Skeleton Crew. The story takes place early in the 24th century, when the technology for teleportation, referred to as "Jaunting", is commonplace, allowing for instantaneous transportation across enorm...
Mix in super Hell or dimension shit
i wonder. is it possible to follow a ship when it enters the warp
If you both got navigators probably? Assuming nothing bad happens
cool concept, thanks!
Yuh no prob
There's also a similar concept from Project Moon universe, where train stations use a similar technology, but the company that provides this service do a couple of things:
1.) Steal time from the passengers, whatever that means.
2.) Employs employees to fight whatever abomination any passenger has become if they were awake during the travel
I dont wanna necessarily do a Super Hell cause its too close to the warp, but I kinda like the idea of a pocket dimension, whether I will name it or not is something else, but its essentially a nexus point for all causality, which allows you to find impossibly quick routes to travel through, but it also kinda manifests every possibility at once, however improbable, even using different sets of universal laws from a universe where they apply differently, in essence, you are rolling for an infinitely large wild magic table
I also just really wanna incorporate something like this line lol
Its one of my favorite 40k videos
I was honestly thinking like you could have the FTL be hopping between alternate realities for like 10 seconds each (like what you said) but any sort of interaction with said universe can fuck with your brain and make you go insane (think a bad LSD trip), so everyone has to be strapped down and put asleep.
I love this video
pure psychic FUCK YOU
Its a great line delivered so well
that was a great video
See I dont necessarily want everyone to be asleep, cause that seems kinda boring
maybe non essential personnel
True, but anything could happen in that bit of when you are asleep
Maybe someone decides to not take it and pretends to
Maybe there's no sedative on board or the straps are faulty so they can break and you could interact with the world
Idk its all up to you at the end
not lore accurate, captain didn't drink amasec (40k authors are held at gunpoint by GW so they only use lore buzzwords)
instead of whiskey its keywiz

Scotch is Zcotch
AAAA
Vodka is Wyodca

also we joke but like
i literally once read "scrambled-embryoks"
which is just... scrambled eggs
lmao
love 40k writers
I think embyro is a cool word but scrambled Embryoks just sounds nasty as hell
"k" in general in most sentences can be used in harsher, grosser contexts so checks out
True

I get that its the 41st millenium and all, so words and definitions would have changed drastically, but do you need to make every word completely different from the modern day word?
...my three genestealers got diced by a single fucker with a chainfist
tabletop moment
love it when they bust out the old english words lol
Groovy
yes you do, so you can copyright it
just ask GW
A KD OF 31 TO 5
i am just better
Except NO ONE is going to be using words like amasec or Embryoks
NO ONE
WE'LL JUST MAKE TERMS THAT MAKE SENSE IN AND OUT OF UNIVERSE
see thats another thing, they are British, they dont want it to make sense
INB4 the Imperial Guard say "Aff" when saying affirmative or saying yes
See, I love some british slang
Its weird and funny to say
But this shit is just kinda weird and lmae
lame
i mean they dont even speak english
in the grim dark we only use 7 syllable words
so is there a reason GW insists 40k and fantasy are completely separate and yet books like the Libra Chaotica exist which is a book from fantasy that talks about the war in heaven?
was the book written and published before they opted on the settings being separate?
Maybe they have a similar past
Or its writing issue due to being a difficult subject
Each universe is contained within a tiny vessel in the other one don't worry about it
lol
When they first wrote 40k they wanted to keep their most recognizable IPs hence the chaos gods, and there were some abortive attempts at maybe unifying some old one and slann lore to hint at a connection before that was largely abandoned as i understand it
As the lore of each has evolved they've moved further and further apart and the age of sigmar stuff basically removes the last vestiges of the possibility imo
inb4 warhammer: TOW has 40k and AOS in 2 small glass bottles on some wizard's bookshelf
That's unlikely because TOW and AOS are the same universe/timeline.
I’m new to Warhammer and got Darktide. So what’s the lore? 🙂
Can’t be that much lore
Right?
Right?
so a single watcher in the dark made the changeling feel fear just by standing there
Reading Ahriman omnibus, into second book and the scene with the eyeless oracle is so strange to me
Is it a greater daemon of tzeentch trying to impersonate a greater nurgle daemon so the dude trying to bind him gets his name wrong? That's how it reads to me
All of the fight scene is so overtly nurgle and it claims it's the Maggot Lord until they make it say it's true name the whole thing seems really weird
Tbf it’s directly in its way
So what's the head cannon about Watchers ?
I like to think they occupy the same plane as necron deathmarks
So, what universe is Warhammer 40,000 set in? Ours, of course! After a friend asked just that question, I wrote this; a short guide to how the 21st century turns into the 41st Millennium.
And FINE. 21 minutes. :/

If you got questions feel free to dm me or ask here, I love infodumping lore
man kroot really are expensive
Still not know who sanguinius is
The claaaaaaawww
Hmmm, munda
looks like a power klaw but it looks a lot more put together so it's definitely not orks
The watchers in the dark not being humans mean that the dark angels are heretic
And the lion ahould be spanked for being naughty
they look so Suplexable

What it didn't come to your mind at one point to just grab a small person and suplex them
There are already people coping by saying that it's going to be a new Yarrick model
Yeah nah
he's literally dead in lore
its too human-mechanical to be an ork hand
Geriatric yarrick on a wheel chair mounted with heavy bolters
Rolling down a hill to have his final showdown with the orks
yeah yarrick's not dead
I'm hesitating between Spirer, Van Saar or something Chaos
Its hard to tell because the stump is too pristine
and Van Saar claw's would look WAY too goated
Yarrick has his own bane blade Called the fortress of arrogance
Lot of people also say Chaos, but it seem too clean for that
I'm thinking something tied to that new dude, Vashtoor or something
Vashtorr 💀
I can see why people mistake it for being related to orks because it's literally unmistakable claw design for them to have three fingers but like it's way too clean
It'd be funny if it was already a new Vashstorr model
Less than a year old, time to replace it
Wheelchair of arroganc3
💀
Doesn't look very Orky though
Yes that is why I said way too clean
it doesn't have extra junk sticking on it
ork tech tends to look very sharp and very menacing
It's the shape of the claw that really makes people think it's an ork
three sharp claws is basically the most basic design for a Power Klaw
one of the primarchs
Ye but why Ulgo hear him lots?
he was great
Because he was the best of the Primarchs
the very best of them, tragically struck dead by Horus in the final hours of the Heresy
Only good one tbh
Why was he best?
Loved to hear my BA friends be pissed of the scene
Dumb mfer thought he could deny "destiny" that is the "plot"

He raged against the dieing of the light
dieing of getting his brains splattered by worldbreaker more like

1 of them told me to die
least sociopathic space marine player
i can just imagine you being bored in life and suddenly you remembered that hating on the imperium wouldn't get you in jail
its not really hating the imperium
i just dont give a shit about primarchs
and I read like every book with sanguinius in it

To be fair you are right the imperium can be pretty fun if it's executed properly
Primarchs are just kinda boring
I like certain parts of the imperium
It’s just I find the main parts not interesting
Big Angel guy with wings, blood angels are from him, big bad evil man killed him, and made all the blood angels sad
So true
Why we got day name after him?
Chaos can be based though
He was very nice and did very good for Empra’
Because he was the kindest and most beloved hero of the Imperium who gave his life to save us all.
Least that’s what the shouties tell me
Sanguinius is jesus?)
Who is gee-zus?
Nah he died because he was a loser!
Cope harder blood angels
But what is story of him?
