The first thing they do after landing is establish void shield generators which prevent orbital attacks

Void Shield gens come in many shapes and sizes, its also important for humans cause it allows them to make a fake atmosphere

There's a god damn good reason why they use void shields for titan shielding

The canon reason they don’t just shoot titans from Orbit is their shields are able to tank orbital strikes

Once they get whittled down enough or are separated it’s more feasible but it’s why that’s not the standard tactic

When they’re in formation they’re basically immune to orbital attacks

There's exactly one case of Tau taking down Titans, and its Warhounds aftey they hammer the shields for a long while with railguns before a tiger shark missile strike finally breaks the shields, and they use a double heavy railgun strike to kill the titan.

The one time we've seen a Manta fight titans, it got blown out of the sky by them.

So sure it can work, its not the silver bullet people think.

And in that same book, Blade of Damocles, they don't actually destroy any of the course of the book that we see, just the one mentioned off screen, which seems to be a Warhound as well but its hard to say.

Its one of those things which looped from the dumb "Tau don't understand titans big scared hurrdurr" to the equally dumb "Tau destroy titans easily with Manta/Railgun no big deal hurrdurr"

The Exodite's biggest strength is it shows Eldar, Tau, and the Imperium all being very competent and not just getting easily fucked up by one another.

Drukhari Shadow Fields are probably the best for personal defense.

They're insanely hard to penetrate, the downside being if you do manage it causes the whole thing to collapse and it has to be repaired.

So basically, if it goes down, its not coming back up that fight.

Also there's other downsides which are linked to their initial creation.

Necron shields also predictably are very good.

But bang for your buck and how easy they are to make and use in comparison, void shields are very very good.

Although obviously they and force shields vary wildly.
