Well, they're using gear thats either 10K years old with little maintainance, or scrounged off the battlefield. And while there are veterans within their ranks, many are also freshly recruited (ie: ripped off a world and subjugated to horrible indoctrination and training)

Id imagine the training is similar if not a bit outdated in comparison to loyalist training, especially with how little CSMs care for human life

Ive been wondering about this since ogres are known to be highly resistant to chaos but there's not many of them (relatively speaking in comparison to other races), so interbreeding has to rather high amongst their species, so genetic defects would arise much more than usual; we dont see many defective ogres however, except maybe gorgers.
