Kyme is very good at world building. The Salamanders have a very cool culture and a lot of background. The problem is basically that all of his stories are exactly the same (at least his Salamanders ones) and a lot of his books accomplish very little or just don’t contain enough content for a full novel (Old Earth in particular just doesn’t need to be a novel). I agree with others that he’s very “safe” and he’s not going to write a C.S, Goto level novel but he writes books that aren’t particularly interesting.
