Just hand a multi billion dollar franchise to me with no supervision I guess
Cause I’m nice
apparently the idea jj wanted to follow up on with ep7 was to make kylo progressively more darkside-ey and never wanted him to be 'redeemed'
the fact that he was voicing the joker around the time of Empire/New Hope is crazy
doesnt even sound like him lmao
And made like two good movies prior
Eight was bad too but
They should have just gone with it
However bad the new trilogy was at least The Last Jedi looked amazing
They did the worst possible thing
no
he has crazy voice range
They just tried to undo the last movie each movie
It was so weird
I still can’t believe it happened
Like the big question for all the Star Destroyers under the planet was "How did Palpatine manage to build these with no resources without anyone noticing?"
And then the comics explained it with "He actually built them before fall of the Empire and Vader went there and saw them all" like that makes even less sense.
yeah, like ep7 was clearly setting up characters in a certain path, and as retro and reused that would have been, they should have just stuck with it instead of making 8 about reversing 7 and then 9 about reversing 8
Jfc
that shit is up there with Guilliman somewhow hiding an entire astartes Chapter under fucking mars
ah
Dear god
this right here is peak fictional character laugh
Ah yes the map dagger
It would've been better without it
just let us have star wars without skywalkers please
I dunno if it wouldve been better, it was certainly fine without it
I said it once ill say it again
Jedi are like Space Marines
a story is great without them
the moment they show up you just dont care

or rather let us have star wars without the show/movie going hey you remember THIS
why do you think boba fett was so fun until luke show up
Oh shut up that was cool
it is why Andor is the best star wars in decades
^
just optimize jedi survivor for pc, and make more andor and rogue one stuff
Andor being the most footnote character in the entire setting yet having the best show is poetic justice at its finest
Mando was great for almost a full season
also, stellan skarsgard was such an absolute gem in andor
idgaf about andor himself, just show me LUTHEN
oh that prison thing was amazing
I dont think ive ever teared up as much as when they are about to escape
I was not expecting that
classic andy serkis
Andy is a legend
" APES TOGETHER STRONG"
" I cant...swim"
god
" my precious"
40k has the best prisons tbh, isnt there that one prisoner the deathwatch hold thats invisible and they cant ever detect it, so they just keep going into an empty prison cell to bait it
and it never works
I love Rogue One because when every other show is going "Hey here's the same old thing you know" Rogue One was just throwing in new designs, like here's a Tanktrooper, here's a Shoretrooper, here's a Deathtrooper, heres a Tie Reaper, here's a Tie Striker
and they're some of the coolest designs we've seen.
whats a tie reaper
It's an attack lander
Fun fact, TIE fighters are produced on a planet called TIEland
I made that up, but it sounds like it could be true doesn’t it?
about as true as tyranids being named so because they devoured tyran first
it would be more believable if the name were Tie not TIE
Oh yeah that was the issue
Actually they're manufactured by the Sienar Fleet Systems which while headquartered on the planet Lianna was founded on and has most of their production on Corulag. 🤓
I wish I could get the information out, but it's stuck

No room for useful information, it's all Star Wars lore
Lianna was also where the Firebird Society was founded, an all female Pro Imperial paramilitary organisation which would assassinate misogynistic officers and promote the military careers of fellow women.
imagine if they just ate ultramar first, then wed have ultranids everywhere
Well they did try
they should be called Squatids...
No
unlikely

No
Mars probably was
Or had some Necron stuff
was there no zombie plague before typhus
What
did typhus invent the plague that makes folks undead
no
did it have like, a first sighting event
it's mostly just a common effect of nurgle corruption
earliest the humanity encountered it was probably just before the heresy when the Sons of Horus went to meet an old friend to a moon
It is? I thought it was a specific event that happened at some point when folks start getting back up to attack
The walking pox's big intro into 40k was around the mid 2000's when zombie stuff was the entire rage in fiction and every universe was doing their own take on it for a buck, its the general origin point of it in 40k before GW took and expanded on it properly with poxwalkers, notice how in this official artwork they just look like generic zombies lol
I see
so it was chasing a fad that ended up sticking around and given its 40k flair
there were also undead models for Rogue Trader iirc
Also yeah the RPGs were its rough introduction at the time

poxwalker origins???
NOOOOO
Did christianity exist in warhammer at some point?
Yes
In general 40k is implied to be the future of our world so most things that exist in our timeline (unless stated otherwise) can be assumed to have existed in their timeline, it's just not going to be mentioned much because it's ancient history that isn't super relevant to any of the story, but in 30k there was the Catheric faith which is believed to be a derivation of Catholicism.
Did tiktok cause the age of strife
That’s actually the plague of unbelief, not walking pox 🤓
Once again AoS has a great sculpt
Compared to the 40k one
It's not bad, but Crow Knight is just superb
I’d say what caused the Horus Heresy was the war master, after he got stabbed by the Anathame blade, saw a vision where him and his brothers would suffer from balding.
And it has a lot of kitbash potential
I think it’s Lethis?
Lethis, or the Raven City, is a City of Sigmar that was built on the shores of Lake Lethis within the underworld of Stygxx in the Realm of Shyish.
Would make sense
The Free City of Lethis goes against typical Azyrite tradition and fields only a singular Freeguild, the Blackshore Guard, though they are comparable to several minor guilds in size. They are known for their uniforms which are comprised of black greatcoats and silver breastplates, they also carry many charms dedicated to Morrda that ward against the undead
Building a city inside of Shyish is crazy 💀
I'd love to see good concept game for AoS
an an actual rts with base building would be fun
Yeah now that I play mark of chaos they borrowed a good chunk of elements from that game
but realms of ruin definitely you know ruined their game
The story isn't even that bad it's actually one of the strong points of the game
I think the game had great potential, it just had the glaring issue from the design point
Making it a semi RTS was definitely a fail
Like come on I want to build a building I want to watch a weak goblin hit a spot 20 times to make a barracks
I want this model so badly, shame it's event exclusive
Same
Pretty sure I'd have to go to a different country just to attend a Warhammer event
Are there psykers who can force people succumb to chaos/warp on purpose?
I know strong psykers make people bug out by their presence alone but I mean intentionally
Like mutate ?
Maybe? I guess succumbing to a god or even warp in general
Like bending their will
You can channel raw warp to mutate people and basically make them into Warp Spawns for example
Yeah they can.
basically every magic trick in fiction is in the book
Oh that too, telepathy discipline has a couple
Oo sick
I guess that would make sense, in-game psykers (at least one personality) regularly admits to mind reading
Don't see why control can't be there too
I could see them do a telepathy heavy branch, with Dominate being the blitz or ability letting the Psyker convert some enemies
Converting a crusher and watching him overhead-pancake like 30 infested
There's an example of a Psyker/Chaos Sorcerer using the forced mutation on someone in Plague Song.
there arent enough bears in 40k
Better to convert the Gunners tbh
Kislevite spotted
we have werewolves and vampires, where are the marines that transform into bears
theres even the marines with draconic mutations sprouting out of their limbs
BEARS
Werebear are less common in fiction
Theres a mission dt where you have to shut down a transmission because it just subconsciously converts people to chaos
well yes
but bears!
even space sharks have a literal shark aesthetic going on
Werecantelope
TW3 Norsca doesn't have Bearstruck
norsca barely exists in tw3
most neglected by far, unless I straight up forgot some
Thankfully, I hate some of their units 😌
werekin are cool
Not nearly as bad as Tzeentch though
the rest is very meh, especially since now theres a million other chaos factions
Fuck Kairos and his pinks/blues
that all use marauders
So obnoxious
I still hate how CA is treating the Monogod. They could have done so much better on the post release treatment
rip nurgle
If you want fast results, I suppose, but a consistent bodyguard is def crusher because I imagine like no enemies could do damage to it
crusher wont be able to keep up with you though
mind control all the bombers
one fire nade is probably worth more than 2 gunners
Good flank guard plus when fighting starts, he'll have time to catch up methinks
I think they would have to have some sort of decay, or at the very least have it be temporary
And no Specials prob
mind control would be kinda sus as a mechanic though, since youd probably be giving up a way to delete hvts off the map so you could use mind control instead
necromancy on the other hand
Necromancy isn't a thing in 40k for Psyker i think
Best way would be reusing the Necro's mechanic on a Tech Adept with Servitors
Tbh for the Psyker I want to see a new branch that is based on Biomancy and temporal power
Statis Shell and Warp Speed
temporal powers would be nice
imagine if you had an aura that sped up time for you and your team, or slowed it down for enemies
Slowed enemies would would be less jarring for the other players
so you have stuff like faster movement/firing speed/reload/attck speed etc in one go for like xyz time
or in a chosen radius
Warp Speed as some lightning clad leap ability
also a force pull kinda thing wouldnt be so bad either
just pull a ranged enemy to you
like a sniper or a gunner
i regularly forget that this server is darktide
True, I would hope you could get some non-disabler specials though
A sniper that hunted elites and other specials would be so cool but maybe busted
Probably would be best to keep it at controlling elites
Controlling a burster would be cool, but do they count as specialists or just infested?
specialist
Shame
Infested is just an armour type
Psykhanium bursters when
Huh, I never noticed that they were missing
Me neither until today
we dont have bursters in the psykhanium?
Naur
Hitting poxburster BPs >>>>
its for the better 🙏
well
generally not worth shooting em anyway
unless you just dont have a choice
melee push back dodge works quite well
I shoot them when the director does that silly little thing where it perfectly spaces two of them to where the other will explode you via chain detonation after you push the first one
plus, most folks seem to do that now anyway, so you risk blowing up your teammate because you were gunning down a burster and didnt notice your teammate was running to it to push it back
im reading this old valhallan book and this is the first time i see the terms "plasfibre" and "thermoplas" used
it's apparently what the valhallan greatcoat is made from
i dont really get why "plas" is used
you'd think it would be "synthfibre" and "thermofiber"
Plas as in plastic maybe? Idfk
But you’re correct on it being weird
plasfibre could literally be nylon or something because plastic and a fiber
but i thought "plas" meant the material property
like plasteel being steel or another metal with extra sci fi plasticity
not it literally being plastic
sounds sci-fi enough
yeet
thats how the authors think, dont dwell on it lmao
nah nah it just annoys me a bit
it doesnt follow the standard of these 40k terms
this is a part of sci fi that's rarely mentioned though
people love talking about how realistic sci fi physics are but rarely the chemistry
bro
the standard 40k terms are literally just as stupid
I got an entire lexicon of them

they follow a pattern though
they really dont
- Necessarium: Toilet
- Penetentium: Penitentiary
- Repulsor rail-links
- Serf-Warrens
- Underfactorums
- Giga-factorums
- Macro-refineries
- Scrambled Embriyoks (Scrambled Eggs)
- Meatslabs (food)
- Nutribars (food)
- Nutrient-boost (food)
- Caffeine-slug (food)
- Vitgruel (vitamin gruel)
- Feeder-station
this is just the tip of the iceberg

but i meant the materials
like plasteel, rockrete
wait is it rocrete
what else uh
i think ferrocrete
Imagine hearing someone say
I will make you caffeine slug so vile you wish you had drank water from the Necessarium
which is like a magical combination of iron and concrete
its basically a caffeine-pill
Aren't Nutribar something in RL though ?
which is ew
yeah but its not exactly a copyrightable term
nutrient + bar
would it be iron with the properties of concrete or concrete with the flexibility of iron
I bet a single bite is equivalent to like 50 monster cans
Isn't it just reinforced concrete ?
no it's a magical sci fi material
so literally reinforced concrete
no no you dont understand, that would be too complicated to read for the average 40k fan

also yeah according to the wiki it's a combination of metal alloys, ceramics and rock (!?)
you know, just rock
so i guess it's like reinforced concrete except it doesnt need rebar
dont quote me on this i failed highschool chemistry and never retook it
I failed a lot of things in high school yet graduated from one of the best universities in Turkey
dont worry about it, school is pointless and useless

Sometimes the school ain't Schooling
Which makes me want to grab a concrete rebar and beat up a random pedestrian
preparing you to be broke
I am severely stupid which is true
But like come on
School is very rarely fun at all
the only thing i have experience with that can be applicable to 40k is lasers. but any level of knowledge about them makes you realize how pointless it is to argue about their realism
I quite liked it when I wasn't in secondary and didn't have literatures and stuff
Everytime i hear someone talk about realism in 40k i pop a nerve but i can repair it with super glue most of the time
I don't exactly know the name of my cursus, it's not University, but I don't think it's trade school
My brother in christ in this setting gravity can be harnessed into a gun why the hell are you talking about physics and god damn super matter or some shit
it's fun to realize the amount of crazy sci fi shit the setting requires but yeah it's also why arguing about laser recoil is pointless
It's fun but sometimes people just blow it out of proportion to the point that i will not hesitate to grab a nearby wrench and cripple a homeless guy out of anger
I have seen some people straight up pull the dumbest arguments because of trying to bring in realism to the equation
like sure you can measure the force a certain power of light can produce but you're already going with the idea that such a laser can be portable by a guardsman
Found it, Tertiary college
meanwhile guns have recoil. who cares about the realism when gun recoil looks so right?
i watched a video the other day that helped me rationalize it. people want authenticity, not realism
but they expect authenticity to be tied to real life, not the constraints of the setting
people who want realism in 40k are just applying their own idea of what the setting should be. they expect realism to be the gold standard
but if you know anything about the history of art itself you'd know that this idea was proven to be bullshit like 200 years ago when art colleges stopped having a monopoly on what's "good"
Those same people probably think tarkov is realistic
Meanwhile this scav i shot in the ass usain bolts out of the room the moment i shot him
heya, question on the darktide-lore side of things.
why dont they just execute the player? i mean especially on psychers that picked disobedience or wrong belief would probably executed since unlike ogryns psychers have (most likely) to hang onto those beliefes and keep being a heretic
Well we are useful and well you know we don't have a lot of replaceable fodder
They are useful.
well, they were awaiting execution on the Tancred Bastion basically
my tinfoil hat theory is is that the inquisitor is a agent of chaos just wasting imperial ressources and feeding souls to nurgle
no

The Tancred Bastion was on the way to the sector's Penal system, Psyker were to be put on special quarter, supposedly to be given to the Black Ships
yeah but your character keeps saying stuff like ,,worship me" or mocking ,,for the emperor" amd they can hear the vox sooo...eeeh?
^
It's the Inquisition, if there is one organisation that isn't supposed to see the Emperor as a god and stuff
It's them
but wouldnt the common soldiers or just squadmates (especially zealot) kill you for these heretical comments?
Friendly fire isn't really useful
Executing your teammate while in the middle of a horde eating you isn't really the smartest of ideas
They wouldn't be allowed to
going against the will of an Inquisitor would be even more heretical
in the mind of such zealots
Yeah just because you saw a black man near a robbery doesn't mean you are allowed to shoot him immediately that just means it's racist
LMAO
You have to investigate and understand
too close
the intro of the game explains this, when selecting the type of crime you commited it says how each one can be a tiny offense taken out of proportion by a superior
and after saving the lady in the intro you manage to show how useful you are
all the cutscenes from around level 1 to 25 you're constantly being treated like expendable trash
because we are
sedition is the funniest one because it could be caused by something as simple as saying your boss is an asshole
I already knew the mole was sus when her garbs for being imprisoned was the “Misplaced Faith” color
@soft thunder Was looking at the strung up corpses of the trailer crew again and this popped up, I know you like small details so heres your squad name for them lol

Good attention to detail there
Loner psyker, affectionately named "Spleen", on his way to mock the emperor in the middle of three fanatic zealots:
sanctioned psykers have already been closer to the emperor than any zealot will ever come in their life so they have that going for them
I love the theory that "Beloved" is a shard of the emperor's psychic presence/mind/whatever
To my knowledge the motivations seem to line up, though I only started paying attention to that personality recently
honestly when it comes to the warp, does it really matter?
i've read too many stories where the voice ends up being some tzeench demon
and it could very well be another chaos god trying to fuck with nurgle for the hell of it
If that's the case, it'd almost def be Tzeentch given how much they hate each other
And the nature of the "Beloved" as well
exactly. you can never tell with the warp
btw why dont they just exterminatus that planet? its all corrupted beyond saving
is there like an ingame explanation?
it's not corrupted beyond saving. that's why we're saving it
It makes important resources
and yeah you dont just exterminatus planets randomly
it is the absolute LAST resort
the whole chaos uprising only recently started by the start of the game
i mean a virus bomb to get rid of the atmosphere still leaves the ressources in the planet intact soooooo
The planet is still “clean enough”
Then you kill the population who are important slave labor and workers
You’re still burning all the infrastructure to ash
^
somebody who hasn't read the first horus heresy books
books expensive, youtube channels make due
the author goes into a lot of detail with the virus bombing
basically everything is gone
how does a virus get to iron or copper ore IN the planet, viruses only harm ogranic matter as far as i last checked
the planet's resources arent just its minerals
^
istvaan 3 was also virus bombed multiple times and theres still ruins and metal left
how will you mine those minerals with all your dump trucks melted
half of it is sludge
it was only once no?
idk i remember it being ,,virus bombs" but idk
the only things that survived were the bunkers and very deep tunnels
It only got virus bombed once yeah
but again a hive world's resources are its manpower and factories
But it was multiple bombs
If it got virus bombed multiple times
They would have fire bombed it twice as well lol
my favorite part of that book is when the main character (i think saul?) finds the world eaters and they've built barricades made of dead bodies because the entire hive was mind controlled to swarm them
the idea of a dead body fort like they're kids on sleepover
Saul Goodman?
saul guiliman
The perfect body shape for a support structure
I still think the emperor shard theory is the most interesting and maybe even fitting way to view that psyker personality, wouldn't bet all of my money on it but would definitely bet most of it though
yeah because people forget the Beloved makes active suggestions that help the team
like telling the psyker to put up shields, which direction to go, what to do etc
most of the time hes a willing participant lmao
no offense but everyone will always try to say everything is the emperor
I mean this one makes the most sense
lol
its a lot more probable than "omg genestealers"
most fan theories i see is people saying "but what if emperor"
yeah and i recently read a book where the voice in the head was actually a tzeench greater demon
in my headcanon its the psychers own transcended soul guiding back his normal soul since theres no time in the warp
and theres also many other examples in-universe of the Emperor actually speaking/guiding people
about as many evidences to go against it as theres ones to support it

you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head? my Psyker: "MY BELOVED!"
i prefer the one where the emperor doesnt suddenly have interest in a random loser with psyker powers
and its just the emperor on a beach in a bikini
Its official lore so

by who GW or fatshark
Both tbh
this game had 7 black library writers work on it
- Abnett
its about as solid as you can get
wait really?
Yeah they are in the credits
shit well if abnett says so i guess
as said by Fatshark this game has 50,000+ voicelines for everyone
you need a really big fucking team for that
i bet half of those are pain grunts
Not to mention that psyker personality, as well as sometimes seemingly Beloved, are on the more empathetic side, even if sarcastic at times
poor programmers who had to sort all of that, may the omnisiah bless them
neither did the soul drinkers
wait is ben counter in the credits
that would be funny
The daemon in that book is still very obvious in its intent
the Space Marines are just stupid
💀
for clarification's sake. How F***ed up does our situation have to be that Ordo Malleus would have to step in. Planet wide?
Hereticus*
do NOT
and its not planet-wide
when are they not?
slander the soul drinkers
Lmao have you ever been in a full sibling games, probably the most wholesome interactions next to ogryn pals matches
Dude
theres even voicelines if you got 4 characters with the same personality
i thought they were both independent
Best interaction in the fucking game goes to enforcer psyker and (I think) brawler ogryn, talking about hope
Such a banger
Man thats rare as hell but i wanna see that
anything the loner psycher says is just based, anyoy the zealot with heresy
you're asking the wrong question. the correct way to ask is "how close does an inquisitor have to be to a planet and how busy are they for the planet to get help"
the only Inquisitorial forces on Atoma are Hereticus, Malleus only steps in when its a literal daemonic invasion, the situation on Atoma currently is mostly entirely spearheaded by human forces.
We handle special ops stuff, the main forces doing the fighting are the Moebian regiments we see at the beginning of levels and other intros.
planets fall to chaos all the time
same as how when we leave they come to take over and secure locations
also Inquisitor Ordos cant be everywhere
even Grendyl himself isnt present or on-site lol
like eisenhorn's first inquisitorial accomplishment is only a result of him being stuck on a planet because of a storm
The whole "heretical but technically never wrong" is half the reason i picked loner, other half is female loner sounds good
Loner is also the only character in the game calling out everyone's hypocrisy
the Imperium included lol
i like all the vets because none of them care at all
They do
yeah and its silly, same with the schizo voices laughter lines if you use your F ability
The thing is i think the loner subscribes to the old imperial truth lmao
only Professional doesnt
yeah he does lmao
he says the Emperor never wanted to be a god
TINY MINDS!!!
HOW he knows that i still got no idea
oh lol i guess i only notice my own character's voice lines then
but a writer put that in there
no i think he subscribes to majorkill and bases half his knowledge on that and the other on the voices
the Cutthroat Cadian basically blames the Imperium for abandoning Cadia to its fate. Loose Cannon constantly mentions deserting and also doesnt believe in the Emperor fully either
i chose professional specifically so he gives a shit but the the only thing professional about him is calling out random military designations
Wild af
oh yeah that part ik, the ass crack called the Great Rift makes travel even more dangerous than it already has. But now I understand that its only in the case of extreme Daemon Invasions.
Pretty much yeah
Malleus' main focus is almost entirely daemons
Hereticus is EVERYONE
(minus aliens)

yeah malleus probably only care when an active demon is involved
and then they'd purge all the witnesses
looks at grey knights
I do like to think that Loner and Seer are the big E's homeboys, as explicitly as the shard of his soul can make
would be cool if we get to escort a grey night,i mean our characters are allready marked for death so not like they need to worry about censoring that
why would a grey knight need an escort of losers
Let's talk through the major plot strokes and a few thoughts on The End and The Death volume III by Dan Abnett...

horus renounced the chaos gods
loyalistchads stay winning
we already know
so he doesent need to waste time killing the swarm sillies
We also have canonically busted up multiple daemons such as the hosts, spawns, BoNs, and plague ogryns
He didnt renounce them
he literally begged for their power after he realised he got tricked

then he was like "NOOO WHY"
I thought it'd be cooler if we had to escort a tank or smth in a segment of a mission, breach like a fortress.
We aren't marked for death.
We are official Hereticus acolyte-agents.
a single grey night is still like 100 times more powerful than us
they're like super space marines
but not custodes level
whose power scale in books and lore make no freaking sense
Eh
nah i dont mean that way
A squad of GK would prolly be able to power through everything we deal with in game
Except for the beast
kaldor drago could purge the entire chaos infestation by looking at it sternly
if by looking you mean using his mary sue powers, yes
meanwhile, the Exorcists took the "was it really necessary" but hardcore route of becoming invulnerable to daemonic possession.
truly the best character
🙏
To be fair, the 4 of us could almost or are able to take on a normal space marine, if ingame power level is canon
We use a lot of heavy Inquisition-approved gear
so basically yeah
Ogryns can literally also tear open tanks
And Psykers can just kill Marines by throwing rocks at them fast lol
We got plasmagun, kraks nades, thunder hammers, psychic powers, and OGRYNS⁉️
You forgot the powersword
Yes that too
as Captain Wolfer is witnessing how 3 battalions worth of traitor guard are getting their asses whooped by four individuals "Oh man...I shared a cellblock with these loons."
It does help that i have the kooky personalities for each classes except ogryn
So the moebian 6th are getting their asses handed to them by some actual goons
a single space marine would definitely struggle to kill what we regularly kill
but we're 4 people
with ogryns
Yea, and we regularly mess up almost a thousand people
Nurgle followers are the embodiment of "Born to shit, forced to wipe"
I keep flip-flopping how I feel about this because of how many arguments I've seen for both sides, but I think my final conclusion is that it is.. probably? Possible for four DT rejects to equal the power of a space marine and maybe even beat a plague marine
Space Marines are not invincible and traitor guard can definitely take them on, the Moebians especially.
Will they lose a lot of guys though? Yes
People make the argument of marines being able to focus on the only things able to hurt them and how surprisingly agile they are when they want to be, but a singular crusher can at least relatively challenge a marine in melee and we obliterate those constantly
Also that yeah, and people dont like seeing Space Marines lose in anything ever.
its like Batman fans
and about as worse
One prime reject would likely lose but would go out with a fight, four rejects win methinks
I hate Batman
I would recommend using Owlcat’s Rogue Trader as a measure of how Marines actually measure to normal human combatants.
Lemme not open that can of worms actually

Read: it…isn’t pretty if you aren’t ready.
Because I will rant
Haven't gotten far in the game but looking forward to
Oh trust me the ||first Chaos marine you fight has a Heavy Bolter…||
..ermm shatman has a contingency plan for like,, everything ever (But he STILL can not fathom the trolley problem somehow)
I mean, it is a bit lucky based, but…
||if you starting positions and RNG hates you, Aurora’s Heavy Bolter barrage just…melts you.||
yeah because that fight is just terrible
and like, way too un-tested
theres a difference between a Fight and just Abuse Busted Gun Until I Win

Although it should be mentioned in that game you get a 6:1 advantage every time you fight against them…
1:1? A normal human needs to be really, really, really lucky
(And in that 6:1 you have a mixture of different weapons, expertise and psychic support.)
Yes but how many Abelards are there in the entirety of the Imperium 🤣
Abelard…smack his nuts
Or was it act 4
The one thats an officer but one taps your team for no reason
I spent that fight luring her into a kill zone down the stairs and even then i had a lot of downs
I remember fighting against a CSM in a game of the RT TTRPG once, it was multiple rounds of the entire party effectively throwing wet paper towels at him while he casually walked around pummelling everyone into the ground until the Psyker managed to crush him like a tin can.
Absolute 40k Moment
Lucky that CSM didn’t have psy power themselves
It was a very tense moment because I was a secret Psyker so it was a case of let my team die or reveal myself when there were people present who would execute me for doing so, before that point I'd been sneakily using my powers to shield them so they weren't straight up exploding into mist with every hit, but things were getting too dire.
Sounds like a 40k moment to me
Very 40k high stakes indeed
Abelard be eating exterminatus and still fine
I think the moment i broke the game was the moment i got abelard an auto striking power sword
Enemies literally killing themselves trying to hit him
Arch militant argenta? Bleh 2000 dmg heinrix? Meh
Just abelard
And that damn smile
You know how Titus has chains around his wrist similar to the black templars in space marine 2. How come that is?
He was taken in by the inquisition after beating neroth under suspicion of heresy
Might be penance or simply because they look grimdank
Also leandros is a bitch
I like running a Sniper RT
With Cassia as “spotter”
Actual sniping team with Navigator spotter lol
Especially with Held in My Gaze.
Assassin fortress world sniper isnt bad at all
Especially with Crime Lord, ye
I went dual pistols soldier and now im doing a pyro biomancer heretic psyker
It's heraldry used by the penitent deathwatch, marines who work for the inquisition to atone for a crime
The chains mean he served in the deathwatch while he was under investigation after being arrested at the end of SM1
Oh, right. I feel like ive seen that before but i just forgot about the deathwatch. Thanks
Nice…next build I want to try is Hive Wolrd Naval Officer, Officer archetype.
That fellowship stacking lol.
I hear master tactician can get nasty if done right
TBH almost all the builds can become broken one way or another, which…you know, credits to the devs.
Yeah but its harder for things to shine when you have argenta
Argenta kinda locks you into Iconoclast/Dogmatic.
But yes. Give her that Blessed Boltshell casing, and watch her work wonders
Basically carries the game for you
My Argenta indeed carried the game for me. Her and Abelard
The man draws fire and eats melee unit for breakfast while she goes around murdering other people
I would use ulfar more if he didnt get stuck on all the god damn terrain
I got RT, Jae, and Cassia officering her up the wazoo
I use Heinrix/Abelard dual tank. Two bros just soak up frontal assaults like an actual fortress.
Argenta/Pascal for mid field firepower.
Cassia/Sniper RT for back line.
I ended up with abelard, argenta, pasqal, cassia, me and i think idira
Everyone became a buff bitch for me and argenta
(Also: just give Argenta a pair of Bolt Pistols, and the gloves that use Ballistic Skills for parrying. That is a far better Close Quarters option for her above anything else.)
Which is sad because occasionally pasqal would do something cool
Pasqal was my prime buff and heavy melee man, only in late game was he transitioning into plasmaboy
I ran upgraded shuriken pistol and neural flayer for a while
I didnt build Heinrix right in my first run so dude was near useless
The funny thing with Pasqal is that he doesn’t need THAT much investment to be a plasma boy even. Just one or two of his advancements already make a huge difference for him.
Then you just spam Plasma AOE attacks lol.
Even that sub-optimal use, he shines.
I hae Yrliet as my sniper and Cassia as close ranger officer to back up Abelard and Argenta. My RT was full officer with sniper and dual pistols
And the last spot is mostly Idira
Cassia is also easily broken, weirdly enough.
Just take all the Navigator Passives…
And she can dodge…most of everything.
On the topic of Rogue Trader, is picking one of the preset characters the intended experience? Or is it kinda like picking one of the companion origins in Baldur's Gate 3 (except you don't meet said presets)?
I'm still early game so I'm wondering if I should restart to make my own dooder
I don’t have anything against the presets inherently, but they are probably not as optimised as they could be.
Yeah, the best thing is probably preset visuals and customized crunch
There are at least 2 cases in OC generation where your dude/dudette matches the portrait exactly if you choose correctly lol.
as somebody who did the fight on the hardest difficulty i agree
that fight is BULLSHIT
You can also get your cuztomized portrait if you commission or are good enough lmao
Bruh first time i fought him i felt like that heavy bolter was shooting forever
idk if they fixed it but rogue trader on hardest difficulty is incredibly poorly balanced
Even on Daring (no special modifiers) I am now biased towards a Sniper RT just to deal with that one asshole heretic sniper lol.
dont forget that prior to that point you have to go through tons of intense heretics WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO HEAL WOUNDS
i had to beat that fight with 3 wounds on everybody
worst fucking part of the game
genuinely bad
That mofo also KICKS you, i was srrounding him with the boys and that plan flew out the window
In most of the previous fights I literally just had most of the teams camp behind cover and try to snipe all enemies lol. Or hold choke points.
And don’t forget the damned flamer spam or the random 10% Chaos Spawns in the fights leading to the Space Port…
the fight before is like 4 snipers instantly killing half your team
rogue trader relies way too much on the player save scumming it's seriously a flaw
My second run had me decide to grab toybox and throw the notion of proper playthrough out the window because ive already finished it once
If by concept you mean “under Inquisition control”, it be the Chamber Militants…Sisters of Battle for Ordo Hereticus, Grey Knights for Ordo Malleus.
If you mean “mixed loyalists marines working together”…somewhat rare, unless battlefield circumstances demanded it out of emergencies.
i cant even bother finishing the game it took me like 100 hours to get past chapter 1 already
then it feels same-y after the first chapter and i got bored fast
I still haven’t truly finished my first playthrough because I keep waffling on my conviction choices lol (I know I want an iconoclast/dogmatic mix but then getting the numbers right is just…bleh.)
Mixed loyalists, I know of the Uhh, I forgot what them called them selves but it was the emperors spears, black Templars, and celestial lions working together
the space combat on hard is straight up impossible
afterwards its like "ok here we go again"
like no joke you cannot win
Space Combat is, for me…really “eeeehhhh.”
On Daring, it’s…how do I put this.
how about you warn me, game, if you are going to throw me against a CRUISER
i think the space combat is really what killed it for me. i had to go around 10 systems finding a fight i could win and i received nothing
Also why can’t I get a Cruiser lol
As far as I got into Space Combat, I met 2.
One is the Chaos one on a system.
The other is an Imperial Cruiser if you get a random attack from Winterscale on your colony and you respond by going into battle personally.
Yea, mixed Loyalist Marine operations outside of Deathwatch tends towards Chapter Master agreements for a temporary period, least they are accused of legion building.
how are you even supposed to upgrade your ship to fight harder battles if you cant win any battles in the first place
the first chaos ship fight you encounter is a real fuck you moment and you were definitely not meant to do it early
im waiting for the auto win crusade mod equivalent to come out(if someone is actually working on it)
because yeah you could just not do crusade but then you lose out on content
Agreed, though the helmsman warning a bit would be nice - on the map before you start the battle, it just looks like another encounter to farm.
A warning like that Dark Eldar filled system would be nice.
I don’t like my custom chapter why the fuck is writing space marines so hard
The escort ship you get for space combat is also useless
There's situations like that where multiple Chapters will group together to protect a specific region usually around their Chapter Worlds, but don't think there's many named examples:
Like the Astral Claws, Charnel Guard, Lamenters and Mantis Warriors joining together to be the Maelstrom Warders
Emperors Spears, Celestial Lions and Star Scorpions form the Adeptus Vaelarii
Angels Numinous, Red Seraphs and Charnal Guard forming the Triarchy
and then like 20 chapters that made up the Astartes Praeses
it's not you're just overcomplicating things
Only good for soaking up damage for a few turns and die
literally cannon fodder
there's very few rules a space marine chapter has to follow
GW made it on purpose so a child could create one
be cool and dont be codex compliant
I…sincerely suspect you really were meant to ignore space combat for the most part (beyond that one tutorial), then you build up your colony on Dragonus, get the escort
THEN you start farming to upgrade your ship.
I look at so many tutorials and videoes then make it and the next day I hate it lmao
(Since some Dragonus projects just outright gives Navy Rep)
maybe you just have adhd
lord knows i do
True, its almost like the game intends you to go Foulstone > Janus > Dragonus before going anywhere else
Especially the right side systems
Idk ;~; I wrote a whole dnd world and wrote a city of sigmar and a storm host for said city and it was fun
Hey it might be easy to write, but it's hard to write well
Space marines are a pain in the ass
you can create more than one chapter. make a core that you're satisfied with and go with it
But on whining about Rogue Trader and space.
What I truly find a bit more atrocious, is the fact that the random warp events damage your ship as well…
(1) You will not have enough Nav points to make all routes Green.
(2) Your ship will take damage even with yellow routes if something happens.
…
There is a fixed number of encounters on the map.
I am not going to be able to always get enough scraps to both upgrade and repair my ship!
i had a phase like that but i always ended up getting bored and chasing the next big thing
now i do it for a job and i am the most unproductive productive person on my team
i cheap out and make routes yellow
It’s not even that space marines have either it’s already been done or it’s so gimmicky it is doenst feel right
I spent all my nave points making greens on "primary" routes
you take like maybe 1 hull damage, have a warp encounter battle or just flavor text of people screaming
if you get a bad roll
My stormhost are the howling blades, they see them selves as the law enforcers of sigmar’s word and I fell in love with them
They have reason motivation
space marines are pretty gimmicky
I am eventually planning to just make the Quest routes/Colony Routes Green, and possibly yellow or keep as is for everything else.
And conflict
founding chapter, some stupidly specific genetic flaw and then some weird focus you fixate on
then you flesh it out

Worst comes to worst, abuse the oldest trope there is.
Your chapter ar Alpha Legion loyalists.
And they stole geneseeds from everyone else.
just make a guard regiment
not world eaters but imperial fists founding chapter
I managed to make a circle through right side systems and primary routes to each corners, then i had no points left for act 5 and it because a real slog
im currently in my valhallan phase but my guard commander will still be originally from my first custom regiment
because you can mix things together
imperial guard is probably much better
but even then sometimes they just fall into stereotypes
because IT'S YOUR OWN RULES
yeah that's because there's only like 6 big ones
The really weird thing is that when you hop from Janus to Dragonus initially, it looks like a long way, but once you get to Dragonus, there is an excessively economical shortcut back down to the trio of systems near the Inqusition Shipwreck.
But.
If you explore the trio of systems near the Inquisition Shipwreck first, you can’t actually access Dragonus from down there at all…
I wanna make a mixed regiment but i aint got nothing
vitrian dragoons have the coolest aesthetic imo
i like scrappy
Neither
No models, no momey, no skills and no motivation
Zilch
Guards are so much better to write
my custom regiment is just an excuse for me to print all sorts of random equipment because their origin is on an ancient armoury planet where everyone makes a living by looting ancient vaults
do they live on the borderlands
I am so tempted to use the Old World release to make a Feudal Guard regiment…
Bretonnian Knights as Roguh Riders.
Empire/Cathay infantrymen as mixed regiment Guardsmen.
their general is named handsome jack
no it's a desert planet and i will ignore your joke
lol
no because there's already gold everywhere and the real value is in all the ancient armouries
whatever they can find
yeah i dig it
but they keep the good stuff
how does that translate to their integration with the imperium or are they so distant that they're basically just left to their own devices
so they have an abnormally high amount of baneblades and shit
nobody cares about them basically. mechanicus wont mine the world for the gold because it's ruled by techno warlords that will shoot them for being on their turf
as long as they produce guardsmen everything is good
curious how the command structure and logistics work out
i imagine the more distinguished you are better wargear you get
low rank and file get shitty autoguns
absolute killer mechanized forces
they're the real golden boys
ye
took me so little time to create this regiment idk why people overcomplicate things
Because the creative process can be complicated and inspiration doesn't necessarily strike easily everytime.
ok granted i did smoke a shit ton of weed when i came up with this stuff
that might have helped
hardest part for me though is sticking with a single idea
i have ADHD too and i get the draw to changing ideas
I saw an idea on facebook about someone making a rag tag mixed regiments of survivors from something and that idea stuck with me since
scrappy regiments are great
all the well known regiments are super disciplined or proud
super fancy coats or standardized armor
If i can make one then i will make one like that, probably with a rogue trader or something as hero unit
but i'll shoot myself in the head if i have to create a regiment as generic looking as cadians
if you want to get it on tabletop i REALLY recommend looking into HH militia rules
Reason why I love the Chem dogs
these rules are so fucking good
Bunch of assholes from a shithole of a prison world that are just as good as some of the most prestigious guard regiments
yeah penal world regiments are underrated
you see them mentioned a lot in lore but rarely represented
No
The Savlar Chem Dogs were originally a penal regiment but they prooved so effective that they ended up becoming an actual regiment
With the threat being that you break any laws you'll end up back on Savlar
which is an absolute shithole of a world
But they're allowed to "acquire" things from the battlefield within reason
which leads to a lot of strange equipment turning up
that's awesome
The Chem Dogs part of the name comes from their heavy use of combat stimulants
Which is "liquid" courage
Comissars usually don't have to shoot them
because Retreating means they won't get a chance to search for loot afterwards
who's more loyal:
1 teenager with a gas mask
1 former convict on combat drugs
also they look great
they look like steel legion
they def got the same coat setup going on
they also volunteered for clearing out the underhives of Orks during the third war of armegeddon bcs they wanted to look for archeotech
lol
They're also noted as stealing everything that wasn't nailed down
while down there as well
i like the idea of regiments being very good at something
except cadians who are apparently good at everything
The Chem dogs also have an armored regiment
that has a Cadian Leman Russ Executioner as its command vehicle lol
Their general thing seems to be close quarters combat and shock and awe
yeah
Since they're a bunched of methed up prisoners
They have tanks but they're not focused on them
Don't think so?
Steel legion sorta but not really
Talleran also sorta but not really
Tallarn and Steel Legion are pretty armoured focused
huh
i think they have different regiments focusing on armour
like within a planet
or i thought that's how it worked
Yea most regiments have some form of armoured regiments
yeah every regiment has armoured divisions
(especially cadians who have everything)
i know there's some regiments that are only infantry
but not sure if there's any that's only mechanized armor
that would be sorta what valhallans have going on
There are
But I don’t think they have much lore
There’s one that was mentioned as being at the Fall of Cadia
Iirc
if we're talking infantry focused valhallans are a big one
i think krieg? but krieg seems to be like cadia and have everything
i was thinking more like tanith with how little there were
Tanith are exclusively infantry
and the fact their planet was lost on day 1
Are they not
yeah
that's true
i think outside of some books, i dont think there's a lot of content dedicated to armored divisions
outside of being a prop for some reason or another
yeah it's sad
it makes sense considering the setting but yeah
the space marine effect and its consequences
40k is very big on the human/space marine being badass
pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and yadda yadda
yeah
just sucks since it would be very cool to have a book where a tank crew goes across campaigns doing shit
there's a few tank focused guard books
I'll send the names later
I'm working om smthing rn
Gunheads, steel treads, the Baneblade and shadowsword books
Arent Armageddon Steel Warriors supposed tobbe tank focused?
Not tanks specifically, just armoured vehicles in general
what do you think the chances of him having rules be
is it gonna be another uh
commemorative space marine
He's just gona be the basic HQ
kroot have
the war shaper or flesh shaper
flesh shaper? wait thats nto right
just shaper
the other aos model is a proxy for a model within the company unit
aka my favorite
unit in cities of sigmar
Are plasma weapons coils always a tone of blue? I'll soon have to paint a few for my army and I was wondering about the "canon" colors
CSM have red orange ones but other than that I have no idea
i want to paint them green myself. im pretty sure you can paint them the colour you want without breaking any lore rules
there's nothing in lore that specifically states it has to be blue
in this image it's green
I'm having a hard time deciding which color to paint mine (death guard army)
I'm not sure if a blue coil would fit well with a classic DG color scheme
The orange red CSM have occasionally contrasts well
Source: I also paint death guard
You guys ever wonder if any actual guardsmen bayonet charge a tyranid, Ork, or a daemon?
Like what goes in their head for them to do something so awesome yet so incredibly stupid
Would you rather probably die to the 8 foot apex predator or definitely die to the angry commissar
How does the paper seal thing not disintegrate after two shots max
it's not paper
believe it or not, it's actually made from real accordion
oh you mean the purity seal
well it's made from magic because space marines carry them to battle and they somehow dont break
lore wise they do break iirc
Either way, it's gonna be quick and terrifying
but one grants a .01% chance of surviving
and you even get to be honored after death
i found that unlikely lmao
lore wise cadia broke
check mate cadia fan
lol
lore wise, cadians are overrated
I don't hate them, I just wish the IG widespread would get more acknowledgement. but I love how each regiment from different planets think themselves superior than the other.
I should just talk here.
The real reason the Necrons want things to be left alone so the c'tan don't come back?
Especially on worlds with shattered pieces of the c'tan, as even shattered c'tan are still dangerous.
Unless you get the local named sister of battle to demolish it in like 1 minute and 16 magazines
Everyone else: "its too dangerous/impossible!" The SOB: "not for me...I have a name..."
That is basically any faction ever
don't forget faces. because who cares about head protection in 40k.
It’s a 40K fluff thing. An actual bayonet charge or even melee for that matter in a war being fought with las rifles, automatic fire and high explosives should be an incredibly rare occasion.
But I guess you are fighting giant monsters and demons stuff some of who are highly resistant right
lol
It's even more limited with that you should only really bet your bayonet charge something that is like a human because it works with them, the imperium fights chaos and literally this image right here is the reason why bayonet charges in warhammer is stupid
if you're brave enough to bayonet charge that don't worry I will gather all the money I have to afford your funeral
Ya, I’d try to pound that dude in the dirt from 23 clicks out with max artillery and hope to everything we nailed him. CAS 9 lines you name it find that dude and obliterate him miles before he’s in small arms range. Lmao
“Yup that’s me, you probably wonder how I got here”
I’m smooshed in the block to the left already
Emporer protects right
lol
When he feels like it
Meanwhile Mountain Berry Blast on the right looks like he’s sleeping
Haha ya
Save a las round for yourself
lol
It wasn’t his turn to take off his helmet that day. Had he did, he probably would’ve lived.
Probably haha
Fancy painting
There was a conversation about "Beloved" being a shard of Big E's psychic presence earlier today and I just overheard this voiceline last match. Did he use xenos tech?
he had a fuck ton of it, hell Mortarion's pistol that Big E gifted him was xenos tech
So the emperor did not ban xenotech
I mean why would you if you found technology from another species that is way better than yours why wouldn't you use it
It's just the imperial emperor worship that forbade people from using it because it's apparently tainted by xenos or some ****
The mechanicum is the one who banned it yeah
but they also just straight up used it sometimes lol
I bet they are jealous because it's better
i mean that automata that they made that is supposed to be superior got obliterated by a trash can on legs
Yea having monopoly on tech is their whole shtick, without that the imperium wouldnt be respecting it
Tbf said trash can on legs tears apart Necron tech lol
The tech priest looking at the trashcan that has an army worth of weapons attached to it tear apart their automatas
honestly I love how horrifyingly effective ork weapons are lol
