huh
theres a reason almost 90% FW stuff doesnt show up in main 40k stuff
It might be more specialist, but the actual quality is awful
as somebody who's printed 1:1 stuff from GW and FW i think the latter has way more small details
like the malcador tank has so much stuff going on with it
Small details don't usually equate to being better though is the thing.
The entire point of most 40k stuff is to look basic but cool
You printing it and FW printing it are too different things
i thought painting small details was what hobbyists enjoyed. idk myself im terrible at the process
is there a bunch of a muck or something on FW resin?
because the models themselves are 1:1 scans
When you order FW you expect the pieces to either be formed wrong, misshapen or missing
wtf
did GW start FW as a way to expand their line or was it an independent company they bought?
i do a better job at printing than FW???
does forgeworld still exist?
FW probably uses casts but i wouldn't expect that alone to be cause for such QC issues
maybe they just never change the molds because FW barely makes any sales lol
can resin melt during shipping?
Not Forge World resin
Like it won't straight up melt during shipping, but if you're dealing with swords or spears then odds are you're going to need to use a hairdryer to straighten them out because they will almost certainly arrive bent
They also have massive issues with flash that you need to cut and clean off and their build instructions are usually terrible
if a hobbyist in his basement can do a better job than your professional level factories then that's your fault GW
i legit dont know why FW didnt just switch to 3d printing to lower prices
also probably old people in charge of the company
GW's move instead of fixing the problems was to label all of their Forge World products as "Expert kits" because
"it's not the quality that's the problem, you just aren't good enough"
Yea when they combined the websites every FW resin kit was labelled Expert, even shoulder pads
that's so funny
FW used to have a pretty cool portion of their website dedicated to building your titan
is that th eplanet that has been eating smaller planets and ripping toxic space fumes?
it's long gone even before the merge but it looked cool to see the wargear
do baneblades still come with personalized serial numbers?
Yea the websites used to be pretty great, I used to love using the website to look at all the paints, but now it's just a mess
it's still crazy to me that i can make a baneblade for less than 5$
and then i look at kitbashers making completely new models out of scraps
ok so from what i can tell the leman russ vanquisher was originally just on the mars alpha
the cannon only came when the plastic leman russ was remade for 5th edition
BUT
you could buy 2 types of vanquisher turrets for the old plastic leman russ
the stygies and the gryphonne
and i think these two were created for vraks
so that's why i thought mars alpha was from vraks. it all stems from me trying to understand the vanquisher
gonan try to write another space marine chapter, i was thinking a cult who belive the khan as a god of the hunt
just need a good name
classic "blame the customer" response
hunters of the Khan
they are gonna be a libators succesor
a bit generic
warhawks is already taken
OMG LIBATORS IS SOMOENE WHO LIBATIONS
LIBATIONS IS THE RITUALISTIC POURING
AHAHAHA\
i thought libation was getting drunk at the bar?
Found reference to the Vanquisher with both the Stygies and Gryphonne in the original Imperial Armour from 2000
from the front the Russ's turret looks a lot more rounded
successors of an already obscure chapter?
i REALLY need warhammer+ to access white dwarf stuff damn
I'm just using google and checking with sources on Lexicanum
do the lexicanum sources provide images of the pages?
No, once I find the name of the books I'm then searched for them in pdf formats
wait you can do that?
You weren't aware ? ☠️
I've been doing it wrong this entire time
Yes uwu
They black out the rules like a government document
yeah that's so fucking funny
like they expect us to buy 20 year old supplementary rules
You literally have to get an actual copy or pirate it yeah, all of the rules are removed.
For no reason????
^
For the biggest reason of all, 🤑 🤑 🤑
the rules arent even valid in 10th edition and they dont sell the older rule books so they're literally just doing this to be assholes
wonder who had this bright idea on the marketing team
But if you buy an old white dwarf it’s second hand
I'm late to fw resin convo but just simply can help but drop my two cents. yes resin can warp with heat during transport. a lot of fw stuff is made for order and has all the resin casting problems and cleaning / kitbashing / building resin is a nightmare because it's brittle and hard in the wrong way. in the perfect world, resin casting has crisp details and single casting is better than sprues
So they aren’t even making money lmao
I guess it's a good thing they merged both sites now
Yea but what if they want to one day sell the old rules as "Warhammer classic"
Tbh the merge helped new Necromunda people a lot
they're making money off of the like 80$ warhammer+ subscription but no it's all third hand market at this point
they would lose literally nothing from not blacking out the rules
but they still do it because they can
please no. there is way to much nostalgia farming as is
it's like those shitty calculators you used in highschool that the manufacturer put black epoxy over the microchip as if anybody wants to steal their shitty product
they just do it because they can
it's the little things with GW
dog shit company
I had a Casio, they are great
I think mine is at my parent's house
Surely still work, one of my collegue has one at work
The Shikaris, a successor chapter of the Libators born from an internal religious group they chose to left and found a chapter on a planet that’s religious belief matched their own. The Shikaris believe the Khan was the Emperor’s god of the hunt and worship him through hunt and consumption of the Khan’s chosen prey.
The prey of course being any enemy of the emperor and khan
Perfect
And they are an ultra marine successor because reasons
Dear god
wait wrong server
I mean not surprising
this could either be the best crossover in 40k history or the literal worse lmao
PLEASE
i love how people are like "wow this is cringe"
then you already got people in that post going
"OMG I MUST BUY THIS"

gw is really sticking thier fingers in stuff oustide of their usual market recently
Prolly trying to diversify income
because GW is like really
pigeonholed as a company
all their cash flow comes from plastic
i wonder how long until something takes a nose dive and they go back to theri usual stuff
When it’s already too late
i know this isnt the first time they tried expanding like this
This is the first time they've done something so drastic
tbh
regarding external stuff
this far? yeah
a bunch of 40k games dropped in like 3rd or second edition
regarding them trying things
Finisher where you do a Psyker brain Blast
GW is a lot more open to messing around rn
shit like Necromunda being brought back is insane
fr
8 more months until Space Marine 2 is released.
hopefully helldivers 2 will be able to strach the itch till then
probably when people outside of the 40k look about how horribly evil the setting is complain about something and it gets big
hopefully it'll be good
then they will go back to their hole
GW doesn't care
regarding the whole wide appeal thing
they generally are more concerned with slower expansion
but they will care when new investors pull out
They're a stable company
idk i doubt it will get really that big
they don't need more investors
are they even publicly traded?
SM2 was supposed to be my biggest spend in December until I realized the date got pushed back
ok then they wont care that much
yeah
oh thats actually good
Okay asked a deep 40k nerd friend about this
the answer I got off of them was a little "we don't want people to be confused by old rules' and a little 'basically when we've done an edition we want to move on and pretend it doesn't exist any more'

guh
lmao
whats everyones thoughts on the new edition anyway? it seems alot cleaner than beginning of 10th
well as clean as an unfinished game can be
I think
it needs work
and they went too far in multiple places
and its poorly balanced
good "base" so to speak though
the more lore appeal on certain things like subfactions i like
the subfactions being built around ideas
im pretty sure you need certain models to run a subfaction though
I mean you didn't lose any customization regarding that
Detachments are just subfactions
the only dif is they aren't locked to a specific paint scheme/lore
i mean like, stacking warlord traits and artifacts and point cost buffs

I do miss stacking warlord traits + relics
enhancments are like WLT/Relics
but you can only take one per character
which is meh
Fun fact
Old world has a better version
of the 10e psyker system
So it seems GW realized they went too far lol
shame all of 10e is prolly gona be stuck with this stuff lol
strap in for 3 years of it
Lmao
A-Train kills a heretic with a venerable servo skull, does the sign of the Aquila in respect
This is canon
Might change to just a white scar successor
White scar successors who believe the Khan is a hunting god
Created recently to patrol a back water area of the galaxy
Probably greeked themed ? Artemas and all
Or maybe I theme them around like royal hunters
Okay maybe a new idea for the chapter
Children of nobility from a planet that was saved by the khan and worship him as a god
Aka the worst chapter for the Khan
i forgot that most people here went to highschool in the early 2000's
everybody in my highschool had the same shitty calculator you buy at best buy
made by sharp
i used to take old ones and take them appart because that's what i did in class instead of listening
Jokes on you, I was in in (I suppose, not sure of the equivalence) of it in the late 2010
a lot of people are angry because they now have to buy like 10 times the amount of models due to GW trying to balance by making units cheaper in points
10th to me feels so greedy
this is why they market to the competitive crowd more and more. they're the only people who will go out of their way to buy meta armies for way too much money
i need to stop thinking about GW this can't be healthy
Thats how its almost always been
GW only ever balances with points
that started changing this edition
and they've straight up modified datasheets
that too though
the fact that they keep changing stuff like it's an underdeveloped triple A video game still getting updates months after release
Hopefully admech gets like, a redo lmao
I wonder how i can represent my chapter ‘using an 14 to hunt ducks’ battle tactics
what's your libator successor chapter going to be specialized in?
Probably just going white scar successor
And they will specialize in over killing a target (mainly monsters) anti material rifle on a giraffe style
Rich kids on a hunting trip
Good point, spoiled rich kids love thier expensive cars
In true White Scar fashion 18 Outriders and 6 ATVs
: obliterating a wild animal with explosive shells isn’t honorable is cheap and wasteful
: watch me use this rocket launcher on that deer
Besides sanguinus could any other primarchs have led the traitors if they fell to chaos
I’d think Fulgrim insane charisma would make him a pretty great rallying point for the legions but man his brothers do not get along with him despite this
“The blood of the hunting god flows through us. those who can not hunt, serve. Those who are hunted become served. Those who are served, feed the hunters.”
Battle cry of the Shikari chapter
Boom
Perfect
so a lot of melta guns?
or sniper bolters?
What ever i have at the moment
fulgrim has no charisma. even his own chapter doesn't listen to him anymore
he's like the worst primarch
do you have a printer
i could send you models if you need some
aight cool
my print fails
btw on top is mars alpha leman russ vanquisher
bottom is gryphonne IV vanquisher
Is there an important heresy horus heresy book coming out tomorrow?
literally the last book of the series
So nothing important
no biggie
The malding over lady knights in bretonnia has finally started
Turns out they didn't start before because they don't keep up with updates
Dilara even said that she saw some complaints popping up
Yeah it's funny
and like what's the point of being angry about it, the thing they worship is literally called the lady of the lake, so a lady knight is very fitting
man people need to think some more
thinking isnt something people are good at
maybe if they did we wouldn't have this conundrum but hey here we are we can't really do anything about it
yup
the question is. what kind of cheese was used in the bribe?
this is ofc just a question of how hard it is to bribe him
all cheese is an acceptable payment for a bribe just depends on one's willpower
Correct me if I’m wrong
Are you
I forgot
how tf do you actually pronounce "Roboute Guilliman"?
Row-boo-tay
Ghillie-men
huh, so those voice lines that go "ghoulie-man" are wrong?
rowboat girlyman
Tbh it’s been said both ways in audiobooks and stuff I don’t think it matters much
You can also ignore GW's official pronunciation guides, because they're wrong about quite a few of them
The way they pronounce Arbites is painful
Fans: Arguing about whether it's Ar-bite or Arb-i-tes
GW "It's Ar-beety"
Fans "No it isn't"
there's no fucking way i say half the names in 40k like GW does
kasrkin being "kazer kin"
no it's car skin
Kazerkin sounds way better
Genuinely hate the Arbeeteez people lmao
I pronounce it as arthritis
Hold on, how are they wrong about something they made up

Because I said so
I just do the latin https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/arbiter but change the ending
In the year 2024, where is the emperor
probably working at an office job
‘Hey G. Emperor I need those papers done by 5’
LMAO
Emperor scrolling r/40k
‘Neat game, I might base my future soldiers off of it.’
its his beta idea of the Imperial Truth
How much you bet he's one of the people here who complains about the game
Like 24/7
He complains about Eldar exclusively
Imagine the emperor encountering the orks and eldar and having flash backs
To playing with his buddies in the basement
What army did the emperor have?
Custodies?
worse, more redditors
"The Redditorian Guard" is what he calls them
Emps be like:"Neat tabletop game, there's no way my empire will end up like that. But I can copy it and call it regicide"
Emperor reads the final HH book ‘this is shit this would never happen in my empire’

guys it's finally real!

just to make this into an actual lore thing: what is plasteel explained to actually be in lore?

Literally just plastic steel
well then
not quite there yet then
it still tickled me i found a 3d printing filament named as such
GW be like:

Space marine armor isn’t made of metal and that annoys me severely
Ceramite ?
Ceramite is not a metal apparently
Which is absolutely hilarious because
It’s described as a crystal that acts and looks like a metal
Because the elemental table was all used up
It's Ceramics, like the name suggest
I mean I expected it to be metal because you know but I love that it's you know more similar to modeling ceramics like pots and stuff
A space marine armour has more similarity to a random vase of a plant than literal metal which is hilarious to me now
@storm jungle you've read fall of cadia right?
RL armour for soldier is more often made of Ceramics
They can be quite durable, iirc some plane reactors are made of them
Yep
Do you recall any specifics of the Khorne dude ascending
True but considering how warhammer likes to be you know over the top i expected space marine armor to be some kind of overly tough metal that is like vibranium or something
Uhh not quite, what do you want to know
its a very basic ascension
The Kai's summary says his soul gets yoinked and thrown out
Wondering if that's actually how it goes
ceramic kevlar DOES exist IRL tbf...
The urge to make a barbarian class in bg3 and just pick up a random item in the world to turn into a throne weapon is quite strong i have yet to find a vase that is strong enough to handle my strength but i shall find it one day
Oh yeah speaking of throwing something at my enemy
Dilara are the undead in aos interesting
I find some interesting
I recently played luthor harkon of the black pearl in total warhammer 2
I don't like the Ossiarch though
So i need to scratch that vampire coast itch
Could I interest you in some Dreadfleet ?
You may
Dreadfleet is a board game turned novel turned Dlc in TWW2. The next fantasy game from FS should be a tide game set around the novel/theatre of the Dreadfleet x Grand Alliance
so my options in aos have nothing vampire pirate
they were quite fun but oh well
so they got the savage ork in 40K treatment
for now at least
Where the one in the past setting has more lore even though they're exactly the same
I think the easiest you could do for Vampirate would be to take the fish elf and kitbash them with undead
And run them as fish elf
I'm not gonna make this into a model because I'm just asking if they exist in the setting
I wanna read something related about them but knowing that they don't have much lore now
Kinda threw me into the ******* building
Kitbash
We have a pirate ghost
And ogre
I wish i could but unfortunately i have very shaky hands and i don't have much talent in painting
I was just looking for things to read about so that i can make a character
Idk if I like my custom chapter mroe than the libators
They are so obscure that it doenst matter
I just made the warboss for my necromunda ork mercenary gang, had fun writing about him
Nice
I was planning to make a fleet leader for aos
But learning that vampire coasts are basically going to make me think for some more ideas
How do i make the ones i'm going to write about in aos interesting
I have a file of ideas for stls and stuff for proxies if you want me to dm it
A list of/9
Hmm, wouldn't hurt
Thanks in advance, gotta hit the sack soon i'll check it when i wake up
Oka :3
the wiki and the lexicanum disagree on the origin of navigators
also the navigator wiki page sucks ass
the most solid one is them basically being made during DAOT
aside from that yeah lol
it takes like 6 paragraphs for the wiki to say "we dont know"
The wiki method is basically those instances where you are making up more words to an essay to meet the minimum word count.
nah
more like literally copying someone elses homework and copy pasting it over hoping it makes sense lol
So I know any primarch wallops a custodes in a 1v1 but I’m wondering would a single custodes actually pose a threat to a primarch in a fight? Beyond just getting a lucky hit in
Depends on the Primarch and Custodian
if the custodians teamed up though they'd probably heavily injure one
named ones probably, constantin valdor for example
being a named character in 40k is such a massive power buff kekw
Some random named worldeater ripping 5 custodes in half.
Trying to get all the penances/achievements with randoms is going to drive me to the brink
yeah dont do that
You just know that they pulled out a massive old Oxford thesaurus for that one
Researched for 3 months to find a more complicated way of saying blue
A true legend
he is British. enough said :P
Also what's up with "Abnett read English"
its the other way of saying it
hey all, what do you think maulers role in the 6th was, like for a group of guerillas "man with chain maul" seems to be a rough job
probably breaching/urban warfare specialists
Someone else does
then you send the Mauler in
what would you do if that guy was rushing at you IRL after your door explodes
I'd imagine the Crusher breaches and then Maulers clean up
pulling out my boltgun as the high lords intended
its an oxford thing
he was there at the same time as stewart lee which is cool
googles
just bri'ish things
the uh, comedian?
yeah
Ah okay i see
honestly tho like
Abnett being from Oxford genuinely explains so much of the high-and-mighty style of his writing and using these stupid words
💀
yep, lol

did you like the grey knights book?
yeah
ive not read it
read it like a decade ago
and have reread it a couple of times
(was my introduction into 40k)
the first story is classic old lore stuff
thats badass, i'd like to read about them
2 is interesting enough (has some mechanicus)
3 is a wild one
and makes alaric slightly different than the average grey knight
any other 40k books, have not read
did you like the mechanicus?
the second one can drag
first/third are great stories
forget the actual names of the books because I have the omnibus which is all 3 books in one
have you read the emperor's gift?
that's grey knights too, not read that either though
oh, did you read Daemon World by ben counter? looks like that's kind of related to the third grey knights book
Man, still no new TTS episodes. Any day now
Any…day now😔
Speaking of it though do you think this series had a good or bad impact on the community? It certainly introduced a lot of people to 40k it did for me but it’s not exactly entirely true to the lore and I believed a few things that weren’t true
Short term? Introduced a lot of people
Long term? Irreversible damage to the community meme ecosystem
The memes being thrown around now are the same ones as last year, which were the same ones as 5 years ago, which were the same ones in 2005
That last one is maybe exaggerating but the memes make stale mouldy bread look fresh
This is fair, however I will always believe in jojostodes
That's fair
all i can say is. this is cope
you mean hunter the parenting
ONLY thing ill say is Alfa and his team basically just write these jokes because on paper they are genuinely funny and entertaining especially as the writing of the series improved the longer it went.
The issue arises from the fact that a great majority of 40k users get their humor from grimdank and run these jokes absolutely into the ground.
indeed
We got mandrakes and night lords
we can literally get ANYTHING next
yeah no im saying its entirely possible
What’s like the top 5 killteams that would he cool lore wise
Securitarii are up there for me
the team already said they will not be touching TTS till they see concrete proof that GW wont go after fan made content and the content creators so thats what it all hinges on
pretty much ye
alfa makes his entire living off of youtube + his patreon
that and he has a kid/wife so i get his decision
same
its very hard to say because KT so far has been just "hey what units can we use that would be cool"
he also lives in Sweden which is in a bit of a tough spot economically afaik
yep
Maybe another 1k sons kill team, like artifact collectors or something
i like that idea
Night Lords upgrade sprue my beloved
Honestly ever since we got LoV skies been the limit and I haven't been disappointed.
Massive Kroot release which in effect makes them so you can play them as a separate army, multiple different aspect warrior re-release, Mandrakes, Night Lords, Old Worlds back, CM Punk is back with WWE.
There's nothing that can't happen.
Fallen, Pelagers/Homo Sapien Oceanus, creations of bile.
Those are my top 3
Crimson Guard, Mordians, Securartii or other weirder Skitartii would be cool too. Some kinda Inquisition force would be fun. Probably Iron Warriors after that.
For me it would be:
- Admech either Skitarii Provost, Huscarl or Preatorian.
- Ork Red gobbo Committee
- Astra Psykana envoy forces
- Khornate Pit Fighter
assassinorum kill team
So, one assassin
I just want everyone to put down there weapons, and love one another.
The wah
Wah-wah
By the powah of Grey Skull
I just held back making a joke about effect pedal
wahluigi
yup pretty cool how waaagh works, seems like everyone has a different idea about it 😄

but basically the Waaagh field has a definite lore
people just learn everything from bad sources
lol
and people make assumptions about it because GW isn't also good at explaining it
I think the issue is 2 fold. On 1 hand people love to exaggerated. And on the other a lot of people attribute to the waagh field what is most likely part of the genetic knowledge that orks can have
The WAAAAAGGGHHH is basically just like the warp as a plot device
Can get as fucky as it needs to be
Gets toned down when it doesn't need to be OP
it usually only gets crazy when theres way too many Weirdboyz and the like
They are the biggest provider of the energy, but you also need a lot of large orks
Because bigger orks provide stronger WAAAAGGGHH fields
Are there Gucci auto guns? Like, holographic sights and magnifiers? Under barrel launchers and laser sights?
That's a thing
if normal basic guns can exist in this setting attachments are no biggie
I know under barrels exist, at least for Elysians.
any gun on earth can exist in warhammer 40k, if i this universe allows you to somehow shoot gravity out of a gun I wouldn't see why you couldn't have some extra attachments on a funny auto gun on some backwater planet
Grenade launcher cool c:
yes it is
Thunk!
"Woman in my game
Must be woke"
that guy probably
embrace the superiority of Nippon
Funny cause that’s not even true. A lot of Japanese games have political commentary
But are they brain dead takes?
There's no winning against that comment. He'll just spin it as when japan does, they do it right
I guess they never played Metal Gear
I think the take of "Japanese games don't have a political message" is the same as "Old games/show/comics don't have a political message"
It's just come from the person not having the general knowledge to pick it up
Even if sometime it's very obvious
Theres definitely ones that dont have it but the biggest titles tend to have a lot of it.
Same as Western game, but dumb luck wouldn't be enough to say that they never played one without it
I forgot fantasy had its own RTS too
Fantasy has quite a few rts
Total War
Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen
Manowar i think
Was Mordheim turn based ? Can't remember
Yeah I think I'm going to try this mark of chaos stuff
I think mark of chaos resembles the most memorable rts around the 2000s right
You know like generals and the world of warcraft stuff like that
Kinda like Battle for Middle Earth
Well I want to scratch that warhammer fantasy itch somehow so hey might as well try this
BfME was great. So if its like that it's good
I too love apolitical games like metal gear rising revengeance
Yeah politics are cringe. Praised be the God Emperor!
The opposite end of "everything has political themes you just didn't notice" is the Christian theming and symbolism in Evangelion where everyone initially thinks it has incredibly deep meaning behind it meanwhile the creator is just like "Oh it doesn't mean anything, I know nothing about Christianity, I just added that because I thought it looked cool"
pretty much
Ushoran is finally releasing!!!!
dark souls time!
He is *** **** massive
still probably one of THE best warhammer models ever
he looks like the final form of a person coming out of their cave
Truly a horrifying and fitting sight
fr fr
I see only our fair and noble king, blessing us with his resplendent regal countenance.
Still gonna lose against a SM Sergeant in the model of the year
It be just like this for real

Harbinger of Decay not being in the top 3 last year was actually criminal
like i said people got no taste lol
a fucking generic primarch model always gets a spot
They do have taste, a taste for shit
I do think Lion is a great model but not the best nor should it be in the top 3 last year
I think a way to make it much more fair would be if the list to vote actually had pictures of the models, like I googled quite a few of them but not all
and in general any voting system where the public gets to vote which is 'best' it always ends up being a popularity contest rather than if the subject is actually the best in whatever category you are voting in
see steam awards for example
What i have right now is a picture of art or what is considered as art
People are just f****** dumb
that's not quite accurate comparison tbh
that piece is literally called Comedian
Comedian is a 2019 artwork by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. Created in an edition of three, it appears as a fresh banana affixed to a wall with duct tape. As a work of conceptual art, it consists of a certificate of authenticity with detailed diagrams and instructions for its proper display. Two editions of the piece sold for US$120,000 each...
I'm pretty sure at least this thing got eaten
So that's a plus
that game was fun
up till i got to the 2nd mission in the dark elf campaign
wasnt it made specifically to mock modern art?
in a sense
also i love that the wiki says "appears as" when it is quite literally a banana ducktaped to a wall
Jesus lmao
oh damn, he did those too
most beautiful thing i've ever seen
fake news, horus was stabbed by the poop knife
Lore question. Does the inquisition have command over the adeptus astartes ? Or can someone otherwise validly explain to me why in the "Milky way sweep" video, the imperial fist space marines are marching in a parade for what I understand to be an inquisitor ?
Dont space marines have better things to do than march in a fuckin parade for an inquisitor ?
They can make "requests" but not directly order them around
But if it is a specifically stern "request" the Astartes can face repercussions for refusing.
Also that Parade is from a fan animation, not from GW so it's not necessarily Canon compliant.
But Fascistic Militarist societies do like having big parades, so it's not that unusual.
Plus if I remember right it's a Lord Inquisitor so more important than a regular Inquisitor and the parade in on Terra itself, so it's probably quite a big deal.
its a canon character as well, Inquisitor Coteaz Torqumada
They're probably just in the same parade
Placed in the same place of honour
For spectacle
We have multiple examples of them doing parades after big victories, it just depends.
The marines are gonna be there by choice, an Inquisitor could request them or whatever but depending on their authority they might be ignored or a frivolous request might come back to bite them. The Imperium is a feudal state with a shitton of factions, even if you have the authority on paper it doesn't mean you can always exercise it, or that you should.
Tl;dr politics
Some chapters would definitely never do a fucking parade though.
yeah i think the parade in the Lord Inquisitor was just the animator wanting to go all in for a spectacle
because the moment you think about it too much it looks really "um"
down to like a few fucking dreadnaughts of all things taking part in it
You can probably handwave it as maybe some massive campaign just got finished, idk. But yeah it looks cool is more the thing.
Yeee
And I mean it does.
He did nail the movement.
Kinda bugs me they're out of step, I feel like IF would be in perfect march sync, but whatever.
Probaby looked weird to animate it.
yeah if you look at stuff like Chinese parades it looks too alien lol
actual clones
Hold on
There's a video with music which is hilarious
music: The Gap Band, You dropped a bomb on me

Jeez those bayonets pointed out like that while marching. I guess its good they probably overpractice.
truuuuuu. Doubtful the astartes would wake a dreadnaught for THAT
XD
I hadnt even considered that

I was resisting making the joke but
its sad that this is prob the most lore accurate 40k-esque march one lol
One mistake
Gets executed
Also all the Generals have a hundred medals/accolades for wars they ABSOLUTELY took part in
Its telling when even 40k parades are generally depicted as being a little more reasonable
Yeah they have grandeur which helps
There's definitely someone in NK who would have been a really bomb musical theatre major
The space wolves would murder you if they heard that question. In comparison the red hunters are basically the inquisitions hunting dogs.
Are we even the guard or a penal legion like the chemdogs?
In Darktide ? We're part of an inquisitorial penal legion
So we are just disposable but kept alive being an unofficial warband?
How far along are you with the story and do you want spoilers
Because usually how penal legions are viewed as if you even act up a little you get shot.
I have completed it, but we proved ourselves as not being being a traitor.
Still doesn't add up to penal legions.
Exactly. You start off as part of a penal legion. But after you've proven yourself useful to the inquisitor you become an inquisitorial adept in the end
I mean we're not just criminals like the chemdogs we have veterans, and zealots.
So no longer penal legion and instead representing the full fury and authority of the inquisition
At least if I understood correctly
Ye, thats not us though. By the end of the starting quest we became part of the inquisition
I mean, since we're just adepts I would figure we're still pretty disposable
But at least we're a cut above the penal legions
Ah it's because the Arbites are involved with chemdogs.
Arbites isn't exactly involved.
In this whole situation too.
U probably are a bit better informed than me on this. Whats your take ?
Take on what
see above conversation
Inquisitors have more say then Arbites?
Definetly lol
I would say that's why we haven't been executed.
Also because they were running low on assets to use people dying left and right.
Basically what our current role on the inquisition vessel is. My thoughts are, if I understood correctly, that we started off as penal legionaires, but since we proved useful were accepted into the inqusition as adepts
Basically we are at the bottom of the hierarchy and basically henchmen for Grendyl or in this case Rannick, but the latest carnival maps have basically been proving that we have mostly more or less have become an elite kill-team since this entire situation on Atoma has been a perfect meat-grinder for Grendyl to both get competent agents and also get the job done.
Then again chemdogs aren't tied to the inquisitors. They're just penal legion.
Because if you listen to the conversations on the ship between the voxes they comment that they are still taking casulties on a high rate from other penal troops.
Most don't even rise up to our current status as an acoylte
So the Imperium doesn't care about your past more then where your loyalties lie?
And if you aren't a heretic.
We're mostly low level criminals, save for the psykers
Because xenos some have special privileges like the Jokaero
He doesn't seen like a Puritan.
Many inquisitors probably hate Grendyl considering how radicals are viewed.
So far we know very little about grendyl
My favourite day of doing nothing
The Inquisition isn’t one thing
Some Inquisitors would never want “scum” in their retinue
Some wouldn’t care if you’re a blatant heretic if you can get them what you want
Class racism my beloved
How do Servo skulls work? Is there grey matter within a servo skull?
It’s generally all mechanical with the skull as the housing unit
It’s not a servitor typically
Has a cogitator and what not within
A lot of times people will use a mentor or someone else they cared about who died for them as a way to honor them.
Basically they are like roombas
with a bit of personality as a treat on the rare occassion as Reward said lol
and some of those funny roombas have weapons

So little to no brain?
it's basically just a drone using a skull as a place to put the components in
I always thought full AI was banned. Or am I misunderstanding it
There’s one the Deathwatch has made from a brother who was an extremely good tracker which is very effective at that job for example still.
It’s complicated but it depends
it's really ******* complicated
What we consider AI isn’t what the Imperium does often
huh
And there’s just grey areas
Yeah sometimes the ai straight up just a spirit
Machine spirits vs AI
Machine spirits and all that
If the machine developed its own way of thinking and sentient it's a machine spirit basically
but if it's purposely made to have its own way of thinking it's AI
Basically as long as the machine isn't SELF-AWARE its fine
that's how the imperium sees it i think
it should not have a consciousness
yeah but if it's a revered machine spirit then suddenly it's fine
if a machine can think or feel for itself thats bad
Or everybody is just kind of fine with it because a rogue trader owns it or something
didnt know servo skulls were so nuanced
i can see why hadron screams at us to not lose hers
Most of the time they are just skull drones basically but there are times where they can show more features than others basically
Servo skulls require effort and time to replace.
Convicts don’t
It’d be funny if she actually had names for em. “Do not lose, Jimmy!”
I wish the necrons destroyed me

I feel this must be a hymn of the machine cult to recount the age of technology and the long night that followed
Filthy heretic.
you know out of context this was really entertaining to read
What's the least popular loyalist chapter? Iron hands?
Pretty much.
they DO have fans but they suffer from the fact that they are so "eh okay" that if you removed them from the setting virtually almost nothing would be affected
Ironically the Iron Hands would probably be more popular/interesting if they were completely wiped out at Istvaan V
For being basically one of the most technologically armed space marines around they are more boring than the adeptus mechanicus
Hell the red riding hoods have more personality than them at times
they have fun recruitment
Like if the entire Legion fought to the last man at the feet of their dead Primarch then atleast they'd have fanboys splurging over their "Heroic Last Stand".
wanna be an iron hands? TIME TO GET OUR HANDS CHOPPED OFF
I wouldn’t be surprised that the reason they have any popularity at all is they have had some powerful rules in past editions
I would not be surprised
iron warriors are more pleasing aesthetically
^
they walk around in giant barrels
iron hands are just marines with a cybernetic limb here and there
I know a good few people with prosthetics that are quite fond of Iron Hands

Perturabo does have pretty cool armor
its a big barrel
like the ones they age alcohol in, except its silver
and it does look nice yes
I like that when they told Pert that he needed to select an Honourguard from his own warriors he was just like "No, these guys are all useless" and then just built some cool robots to be his Honourguard
the abbess sanctorum has nice wargear too
she has two cyclone launchers on her shoulders I think
and everything above her head and shoulders looks like a cathedral silhouette
In my knowledge chaos iron hands don't have access to this right
Iron Hands are fine people just don’t read any of their lore.
No they're just in HH
Oh thank god
There’s not much to read but people still don’t
This is pretty much the case.
The Iron Circle probably exists in 40k but we haven’t seen it yet
It wasn’t referenced in the one short we see Perturabo in
They'll release alongside Daemon Primarch Perturabo
Some chapter you’re never heard of.
For first founding Raven Guard, Iron Hands, or Imperial Fists
Funny that the adeptus mechanicus probably has more emotion than your average 9 to 5 worker
For 40k
nah people love Raven Guard
30k it’s Raven Guard, Iron Hands
and Fists are everywhere
Raven Guard are by far one of the least played and least represented
Also i'm pretty sure imperial fist contribute to iron hands popularity because of the memes right where they hate each other because one is a siege specialist and the other is a building specialist
Also have the least books or lore of almost any chapter
That’s Iron Warriors
one has hazard stripes
Iron Hands are loyalist, massed vehicle warfare boys
Cut me some slack of both of them have iron in front of their names
If anything I think in the loyalist, the top 3 most popular have always been Ultramarine, Space Wolf and Imperial Fist
Iron Warriors are the cooler ones, thats all you need to know
Iron Hands lost their dad, Iron Warriors wish they lost theirs
All right i will keep that in mind
Iron Hands have plenty of fine lore people just don’t read, it depends on what you like but it’s the same as people not knowing that sallies are mostly assholes and literally have a whole caste system on the planet which they take into the chapter and are racist against each other for being from the wrong group
I mean do you blame me they have the same color as an apartment building that has been left in Detroit to rot
95% of the fanbase gets their lore from memes
TTS didn’t have a focus on the Iron Hands so kids don’t know about them
No they weren't even popular before then either
you are just biased because you are an IH fan which is fine
but like its the reality of it

My point is people come in and say they’re boring and what not and they don’t know shit about them
Which is fine but like, people got strong opinions about something they don’t know anything about
They’ve never been the most popular or gotten focus but the focus other chapters get is largely memes by the fanbase which aren’t even accurate a lot of times.
EC suffer from the same issue funnily enough.
There’s a lot of very unique things about the different factions and legions but people just go with the meme answers.
That’s not really gonna change it also doesn’t help every free way of promoting 40k starts and ends with meme videos.
I get that but I can still push back on people shitting on factions they don’t know about
Fairly rightfully if I started shitting on Tau or Eldar or whoever people would push back and do, I’m just doing the same for one I enjoy which people often shit on without knowing much about it beyond maybe one or two lore excerpts and that they’re not the most popular.
IH were one of the original chapters
Funny how many ended up as blood angel successors
Tbf almost all the loyalists were in the original
They established the rest very fast too
It’s kinda wild to read back through the earliest lore and see how much was already in the setting
Almost everything in 40K was cemented by the end of 1st edition
And how there’s a lot which hasn’t changed that dramatically in some ways.
Obviously scope and some things have but like, the whole marine process and organs they had down super super early on
These were the lot in the rule book, with the others coming later as a mention
I think Space Crusade or one of the other board games introduced Imperial Fists as they needed a yellow option
I’ll always love the heresy exists because they needed to cut costs on making chaos titans
(Almost all 40K decisions have an origin like that, to try and get some market or fit a product they need to make)
They couldn’t afford to make another whole faction
So just made “bad guy faction” version for the same faction
if it works it works
Very similar to Lucas making “the Clone Wars” a throwaway line
disney and lucas himself capitalizing off of every single word used in the original trilogy will never not be funny to me
Iirc he had a completely different idea of what that would be back then too
I do think his take is mostly very original
Compared to what theories were
the prequels were good fan service
and terrible story imo
Eh the story is fine
Just needs better writing for the characters dialogue
Some stuff shifted around
then the sequels decided to have the worst of the prequels except without the fan service or respect
say what you want about george lucas but at least he cared about fans
Idk why they thought shifting directors every other movie was a good idea
isn't that how the original trilogy worked?
Damned I missed a lot
also Horus Heresy moment
yeah no i just checked george lucas didnt direct 5 and 6
The Original Trilogy was basically a group effort that's why it worked, but by the time of the Prequels Lucas had basically convinced everyone it was a one man show, so the Prequels were just him and his work suffers when he doesn't have someone to polish off the rough edges.
^
i heard that that's a major reason why the original trilogy didn't feel so same-y
people also give WAY too much credit to Lucas
then theres the new trilogy
theres a reason Empire Strikes Back is probably one of the greatest films ever made lmao
the reason the sequels suck is because disney decided to hire the worst possible directors
well they also approved some really bizarre scripts
not bad directors but ones that are not fit for such movies
As long as you get a good director you can make any movie work
just look at James Gunn's Suicide Squad
HE MADE POLKA-DOT MAN WORK
HOW DO YOU DO THAT
Tbh the sequel would have been fine if they just committed to something
like, who read the script for ep8 and thought , yeah, this is awesome
And although George Lucas directed New Hope it was only any good because of Marcia Lucas saving it during the edit.
^
Instead they changed the entire course every other movie
they didnt just change course, they fully went back on what they were doing
its the same way 40k works, nostalgia-bait your fans and they'll wojak point and buy everything

that's the thing too, directors without supervision sometimes dont know how to limit themselves
the original star wars had small budgets
Prequels had a lot of isssues but the world building and ideas were solid, episode 8….idk what the fuck Rian was doing
I will say, I have thoroughly enjoyed mandalorian
did you guys like the part in the Horus Heresy where the Emperor is about to strike down Horus
then Ollanious Pious tackles him
lol
this is stars wars chat
Fuck I hate the sequels
also, emprah beating horus by basically having a dagger given to him by grammaticus and then stabbing him
What a waste of a great cast
this is my main point of hate
you are NEVER gonna have the original cast back anymore
Ford is a cunt
don't you guys love how the emperor is alive again but also has a massive fleet of star destroyers
cant blame hamill tbh, he tried
bro
he tried so hard
the amount of times he tried to warn us
Literally everyone tried

I love that the comics/books have tried to make it all make sense after the fact, but if anything it makes less sense now
The whole cast was great
They just didn’t even make a basic outline for the movies like
wtf
How
