trench warfare masochists
they think they are born sinful and can only be redeemed in death
WW1 trench warfare and atonement because their planet tried to rebel from the Imperium for entirely sensible reasons but the loyalists nuked the planet to deny them their victory.
Now every Krieg-Person™️ joins the guard to atone for the sins of their ancestors.
They are mainly a parody/satire of the dumb waste of life within WW1
they are suprisingly french too
which is why i like them
The penitence is their main trait
They're willing to do anything so long as the death is glorious/advances a cause
If they die in vain it's shameful
(they die in vain a lot)
So why do you want them on the field? For the trenches? From what I am hearing is that they seem like a major morale loss to others when they just throw themselfs into the moshpits with no regard for thier own lifes
yea sounds right
everyone but krieg hates krieg
We literally just said trenches yes

anyway their main appeal is people like soldiers with gasmasks
i wonder how brood brothers krieg would do
The world if we got plastic tallarn and elysians rather than krieg
I'd betray Kriegers in a heart beat
We need plastic esoteric regiments
absolutely astounding minecraft players
FR
Okay I got it thanks. Tho ngl, they sound like a meme regiment.
Imagine being a "normal" ass mf out there, then the kreig boys show up in thier gimpmasks just to off themself to the big scary alien bug. "Ohh no mr alien bug please dont eat me and my plump asschecks"

theres like 3 types of krieg fans
That
history nerds
and people banned from warhammer events
^
should i convert my krieg to gsc?
i have the bits
anf the green stuff
but do i have the will?
and like a general idea
besides a head swap
Make valhallans
its either tallarn, brood brothers, or uhhh idk
crazy how gsc have the litearl best head sclups
i need to finihs my ork commandos first tho
kind of insane darktide wasn't nominated for best soundtrack
Not really
I mean the soundtrack is great but that shit's rigged and people also have shit taste
i agree
that people would nominate the last of us part 2 over darktide is a little nutty to me
even if you drop any opinions you have about loup2
who's really talking about that game's soundtrack of all things?
oh it's part 1
my point still stands though
there are a million things to talk about in terms of tlou before you get to the soundtrack
The soundtracks for most big games typically are just glorified ambience
agreed
they aren't bad but they're not really noteworthy either
it's like when you find out hanz zimmer did the score to a movie you like
good music, but you aren't telling your friends about how good the soundtrack of dune is
jesper kyd definitely deserves some recognition
The actual test is if you listen to it outside the game
true
i'm surprised ror2 wasn't in the finalists either
but pizza tower and hi-fi rush deserve the slots
Hifi rush isn't surprising, isn't it built around following a beat/music?
I'm really liking the Rogue Trader soundtrack also
Fkn about to escape and THIS comes on
i'm thinking about buying it still
Made in a close partnership with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a story-rich classical RPG from Owlcat Games, developers of the critically acclaimed game, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

holy shit
It takes the whole industrial thing 40k's developed for itself, and dumps a guitar riff ontop
this reminds me a lot of incubus

I love how the Organ has just become iconic for 40k stuff lol
anything that mixes industrial, metal, and church organ suits 40k so well
i think the nerdiest shit i do with 40k is listen to symphony x and imagine prospero
Rogue Traders music goes unreasonably hard for a turnbased crpg
Lyrics:
Born from the light - journey into the
moment, delivered from thought and
sky
He will be one, one with the land -
Lord of wind and the sea and the sands
The one - The bringer of life
"All will bear a part of me - let this
hollow shell set your free to live as one"
Here we are - Children of Sun and Stars
the first to know ...
Wrath also went pretty damn hard
Soundtrack for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
I don't own any of these music. The game is made by Owlcat Games. Check out their channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo1yuqm85x6iyko4dKhZPiA

This soundtrack stuck with me since I first heard it after Baphomet appeared entirely randomly to fight my party
keygen church did some music for ultrakill that could fit 40k very well
You know what has some weird songs?
Genuinely insane how true this sentence is lmao
EVE online had an in house band for a bit
The music for Mannfred von Carstein's trailer. All credit goes to Richard Beddow and all other composers & musicians for creating this epic soundtrack.

Warhammer soundtracks just
Rarely miss too hard
anyways this is the song i'm talking about
will say tho I love Rogue Trader's OST but compared to Darktide its definitely more on the generic side for 40k tracks
way too much organ and choirs
Kyd definitely experimented more
Yeah
But it’s like fine
like nightsider and imperial advance are on two polar ends of the 40k "sound"
Mhm
Original hitman
YEP
My favorite combat track from rogue trader is still scions of lorgar ngl
borderlands
Was his work
Anyway here's some awful

bandit slaughter
Unofficial soundtrack from Borderlands 2.
I don't own any of the music or images used in the video.
Re-upload because original uploader closed his youtube, bringing down both his account and the videos altogether. I just happen to have (almost) all the tracks saved. This is by far the most complete collection of BL2 soundtracks, totaling at a...
i hope in th e next csm codex we get like a 3 pillar system, one for space mairnes, one for cultists, and one for chaos mech
AoS is also a different game
i havent looked at the 10th edition codexes
I've never played borderlands so can't comment
Mr Electric, kill him
i havetn been very interested sense they got rid of my favorite part of warhammer, the hero hamemr
More like
I hate hero hammer lol
also a great one
Bore ragnarok
So much
kyd really just understands the context of whatever game he works on
the world of that game
because pretty much everything from borderlands could work just as well in mad max
it has that violent wasteland feel
whereas if i had to use a word to describe any song from darktide, i'd probably say "struggle"
i dont like named hero hammer but i love the actionfigure style of 9th
I feel like you give him a vague description with some image and he'll just go "Oh, aha, yeah I can do that"
I just don’t like hero hammer regardless personally
I don’t like so many eggs in one basket from a gameplay standpoint
people point to mick gordon for his work on doom and doom: eternal but tbh
as a fighting game enthusiast
killer instinct is some of his best work
i need to look at 10th more tbh but ive mainly been doing aos , warcry, and killteams
at least until 10th is less horde focused
tbh 10th is very very interesting from a game design standpoint
but also its def not my favorite
I think his work on atomic heart is better than doom lol
ngl I don't like a solid chunk of his music from eternal
i can appreciate the flat stats, thats why warcry is so amazing
2016 on average> tbh
bethesda kinda snubbed him on eternal
the DLC uses other artists and those songs are a lot more unique
not to say his work was bad
its not bad
but like, the gutting of combi weapons is a big example of rubbing me the wrong way
I just prefer 2016's music tbh
i mean for the combi weapon death

but the mixing in game is horrible lol
frrrr
andrew hulshult deserves recognition for the ancient gods
the dry starting chainsaw as part of the instrumental is insane
I like how grungy(if that's the right word) Wolfenstein is
andrew hulshult appeals to the part of me that enjoys metal in the style of mudvayne
shame the audio mixing in that game and its sequel is dogshit

Youngblood makes me regret being a woman
At least it had better balancing early on
which is an achievement
compared to 2
hl2 is old as shit at this point but has an absolute banger soundtrack
Wolfenstien 2 lowkey has dogshit balance tbh
it's always a pleasant suprise replaying hl2
compared to Wolfenstien TNO
forgetting how good the ost is
its memorable

LMAO nostalgia bomb
bro the Lobby Ambush one
i remember being like
10 or so years old
and watching elliot goes to school with my friends in the computer lab at school
saaaame, god
i don't give young kids a hard time about skibidi toilet or banban or whatever stupid shit is the new hot thing when that was the content i digested at their age
an endless stream of zelda cdi youtube poops
I think we still grew up in a much better golden age of comedy
especially from a youtube/gmod vids perspective
I think that's cus people didn't have the algorithm down as much
So they all just did whatever
It's like how MMOs used to be fun adventures because no one knew what the hell they were doing
But nowadays a new MMO gets the fun optimized out of it within like 2 months
I remember the diablo rip off they made for the Level Up! Show/movie
dasboschitt's gmod videos are still kinda funny
Oh what the hell this show had A Train

worlds.com is ancient but you can still interact with a lot of people there to this day
the dude who hosts it is apparently patent squatting so he keeps the game going
warframe has kinda been hitting with some of the latest tracks
Officially named "The Offering" (according to Somachord fragments). From the Angels of the Zariman update.
Warframe has a dynamic soundtrack that changes based on the situation you are in. This is an extended version of the combat music of the Zariman tileset, with some custom mixes.
All credits goes to Digital Extremes, Keith Power and George...
ah my favorite tileset in the whole game
PTSD made manifest
This is prolly my favorite track they've added
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeIeR5fbc9k
The version of the boss music that plays when fighting the mocking or scathing whispers. Fortunately it's the same every time (second loop has some SLIGHT variations, but not much). Main boss version is nice, but I wanted the version without the emotional pauses.
Music by Matt Chalmers and Eric Preston
(If incorrect, please let me know!)
DE's composers definitely like hans zimmer
which isn't a bad thing
because this slaps
but it has his style
def
my favorite part of the new tracks is that all the vocals are in Void Tongue
Which means all of it has a translation and isn't just gibberish lol
The whole aesthetic of the new enemies are very cool as well
pieces of bone, metal and bone dust all being held together by energy
Solar Auxilia has an unbeatable style
My headcanon for P-2's music is that it's gabriel absolutely shredding on his organ upstairs after you left
lol
Hey isn't the tubes in the heads of people, have stuff like the butchers nails, Combat Stimms, battleground info, etc right?
I don't wanna be that guy, but what exactly are you asking?
It depends
The psykers are to help control their powers
The butchers nails are also a chaos only thing
Nowadays
Yea like on the panel for the talents for psy
So
It is possible
for a person with these tubes
It depends like Wolf said, for psykers its to help them cool off and stabilize their powers.
For other people its computer-brain stuff.
40k has a big aesthetic thing for pipes/wires going into peoples' heads
^
To listen to like a audiobook and shit
The psykers just have it help manage their powers
Yep literally
Space marines also literally get "service studs" iirc which are just bits of metal on their face for no reason
It represents for time in service if i remember right?
30 years at a business you get a watch 100 years as a Space marine you get a metal head nub
Yeah
Its to tell everyone else to get on their knees
Homie been through the shit
for a thousand years
You could consider the upgrades to vets sharpshooter stance as you getting better combat implants as you rise the ranks
True
Or or hear me out
Get better with no implants like a chad
Like this madlad
Nearly none of his body was cybernetic and was still beating Raidens ass
Be more like Sam
that's such classic metal gear writing
i love sam but raiden can literally throw a RAY how can human muscles block him
Nah MGS Revengeance was just wild for no reason
i love the sudo medival knight armor the guy on the banner are rocking
just grab a slave to darkness model and give them a gun
The Twins?
OH they are named
Yea
Karnak twins
(I have been in these server before the gave was even in open beta)
so i have no clue how i didnt spoil mys elf
they are cool!!!
Not a lot to spoil up until recently
i wanna maek a chaos cultist gang for necromunda
Even now though not a ton
quick question, is all of the traitors in darktide nurgle
So far yes
alright!
Still wishing for Khorn at some point
im hype i only have 33% left
A death rattle can occur when a person who is dying is no longer able to swallow, cough, or otherwise clear saliva and mucus from the back of the throat, and because secretions in the respiratory tract may be increased . The sound varies. It may be a crackling, wet noise that is amplified as the person breathes.
Homie what?
until its downlaoded
my brain instantly went to heartstone
Yeah that’s the literal definition of death rattle which just refers to the noises
But corpses can also twitch and spasm after death
Yea do to rigamortis, I think
But you just killed them so doesnt make sense
Kinda wish they did a slannesh with more gruesome shit instead of sexy can't put in this Christian video game stuff.
Like slannesh is awful not sexy.
That way we can get some extream DJ'S in dark tide deafing us all with sound cannons
Also the like short dash horrors that basically barrel into.
I could see them adding a Death Guard in there
a relatively small warband of two - four depending on how many players their are
Players not bot
(s)
Have em set up like the twins
Like another strike mission?
A incredibly hard boss like the twins
Like example
i can only see like, a death guard being a final boss
I’d make the comparison to that of Destiny’s bosses. The regular find an kill are like strikes. The Karnak Twins are like doing the Dungeon runs(above strikes). A Plague Marine would be a Raid boss (AKA sleep deprivation and lots of tears)
a small warband of Deathguard take interest in the Hive city listening to the call of nurgle. Seeing the strike team as a minor threat they send a single death guard to clear them out.
Name him Augustus
Caranax
space mariens love making cults, sometimes a singel amrine is able to cause a cult
Boss name: The Girth
Yee
yea
im so so so excited to see the genestealer and necromunda stuff to see like to scale
THIS MAKES ME SO FUCKING EXCITED
I LOVE GEO ECONOMICS IN FINCTION
fiction*
im like that wojack meme pointing when ever is ee anything that is used in gsc
If we were to get a Plague Marine we would probably wipe the floor with it
if i see a mining laser im going to freak out
I want a mission that involves ship to ship combat, boarding action
unless its a champion or something
The axe in your hand is also from a GSC biker set
I KNOW
I mean have them use the weapons they're well known for

aw damn
heavy chemical weapons
Thats not the issue, it would die in half a second
My vet by themselves would paste one due to carrying a plasma gun, and 2 kraks
another quesiton, is tehre duel wueilding?
one of these things is enough
Therefore resort to
No not yet,
damn
.
A killteam of plague marines would be neat
in darktide or in table top
but Fatshark also doesn't want Astartes of any variety
Darktide
I figured that much
based decision tbh
i think necormunda shows that having no actual astarties improves the vibes
Its a fresh can of air with no space marines for once
Space Marines are like Jedi in Star Wars, the moment they show up they ruin any stake in the plot and are cashcow posterboys
in uh, hired gun when you see the statues of marines they feel like angelic untouchable creatures
Turns out an army of 9 foot tall super soldiers built, armored, and armed like tanks isn't super interesting
frfr
However their a chance since their is chaos cultists there
we may get khorn worshipers
my favorite story in necromunda is that supposedly someone found an astarties pistol, then rumors of an astartie in the underhive went around
that i pray
That pistol helps him sleep at night, it’s his teddy bear
FR
i imagine he dropped it down a storm drain like dropping keys
the best part is that necromunda houses imperial fists
i bet the gang didnt even get a fucking second to try to give it back
I have no idea what storm drain is large enough to drop a bolt pistol down but that image is really funny
"YOU FUCKING LEFT WHAT?!?!?!?"
"MY...... PISTOL SERG."
"FIND IT BEFORE SOME DUMBASS FINDS IT. OR ILL CALL THE FUCKING INQUISITION DAMN IT."
"YES SERGEANT."
"AND KILL ANY DUMBASS YOU THINK MAY HAVE SEEN SOMEONE WITH IT OR CARRIED! AM I UNDERSTOOD?"
"YES SERGEANT."
"NOW GET THE HELL OUTTA MY SIGHT."
Marine gets his arm through the bars to try and grab it
imagine being a cawdor seeing the space marine
lmao
and then imagine being the cawdor splattered across the street after annoying him
its so much greater than if we had the story from the space marines pov
Have they got bigger again?
I saw someone say that rogue trader, like the tabletop, has the GM be too spineless to say no when a player wanted to be a space marine
The marine sucks lol
Argenta is much better for shooting
Ulfar is pretty much outclasses by everyone else
And he’s a huge liability in combat bcs of how big he is and the fact you can’t equip him with much of anything
the GM's revenge for the player whining to play a marine
Meh
He’s fine as a character
He’s just not great lol
He doesn’t do melee great, he doesn’t do shooting great
Only thing he’s decent at sorta is not dying
But he’s a huge fucking target as well
Yeah by the time you get him your team would be properly equipped and would absolutely railroad anything
If they want him to be decent he needs better everything
and finding him better gear it's a pain in the ****
Yeah
For the love of god
Let me give him a helmet
At least stat wise
Even the eldar companions are less picky lol
For the love of God can i at least find him better space marine armor than the one he wears
Doesn't do a good job protecting him
Because he really needs it being the only four tile character that you can have on your group
N o
You should be allowed to use any power armor on him ngl
Or like
Turn power armor into like his sort?
Idk he’s so fucking annoying to use lol
finding power armor in this game very annoying
And even the ones you can get are ******* expensive
yeah but it's sick
True
speaking of power armor argenta
She can use it because her unique trait allows her to wear power armor being an adeptus sororitas but
where the **** do i look for it
yeah that's why i'm going back to really finish the companion quests
dude maxing out one alone is already alot of work
Yeah
And I wish we had more random people to slaughter
For more cargo
Which I never thought I’d say ngl
grinding ship runs is a ******* work i don't want to do
Let me grind random gangers up
Going back by power armor giving one to Abelard like this is just fun
and of course pasqual
Mmmm dragon scale armor
I feel chapter 3 of Rogue Trader is just unnecessarily difficult for the sake of being unnecessarily difficult
not to mention the whole debuff mechanic in chapter 3
the final boss
In chapter 3
can suck bolter and get blasted in the head
Incredibly tough has a lot of debuffs had a lot of buffs for her groups
uh... not to mention the debuff the party members get by default because of the experiments done to them
Yeah jesus, abe and pas debuffs
Jesus christ those two debuffs really f*** them over
you can also miss out on getting your Space Marine companion if you do not sacrifice a chance to remove that debuff
And also the fact that going to the boss the place is already riddled with traps
I heard the debuff is removed once they experience their first trauma though
By default not even a contest i say chapter 3 is the most unfun part of the game
it seems people notice those debuffs are removed once they die once and have it replaced by a tauma
yeah at least that's something
could be a bug or something intentional
Abe said he would remove his debuff through some kind of skincare treatment after escaping
but people notice it is still there eventhough he said he took the treatment after returning to the ship
yeah i had to remove pasqual's unholy flesh using toy box
Owlcat needs to provide us a way to remove these debuffs without needing to sacrifice out chance to get our space marine companion
and the space marine companion isn't even that good
abe is already a monstrous fighter at that point
and argenta can just do his shooting
chapter 3 also seem to be the time when companion move their personal story as well but only for those who joining you during this event
so bring pascal, Abe, and Jae is just going to have to cost players to deal with the debuff
There is also the quests being stuck at a certain point and being unable to progress
we only get enough "parts" to recruit the space marine companion and remove 1 companion debuff as well since we need the first part to get back our gear
Yep and of course you have the option as well of getting pretty good weapons and items
finding materials to get that doctor's favor is very ******* annoying as well
ya the extra parts for the companion and remove debuff is from a medicae skill check
but my character had decent medicae skill check already as a soldier since it is something I use often
my character was purely built for battle
it was not fun
my character is a vanguard demolitionist
so
I decided not to bring Cassia this time though since Jae can cover my persuasion checks just fine. So I am entering this story arc without a psyker ally
though I think it is for the better since your psyker ally can't be rescued until later in this part of chapter 3
but your normal companions can
and Argenta do not get a debuff if I remember right
but bring her along is vital to "learn the truth" about what happened in Prologue
yeah she doesn't get a debuff
you can also get abe pretty early but of course
ya his debuff sucks
him getting age really hinders his strength and durability which are literally the main stats that you build him up on
it sucks
The fact that it's targeting the stats that he benefits from the most
These ?
Not exactly cause I think the Devotion chains are attached the weapon normaly
There is also an Inquisition sigil on it
I think that's supposed to mark his deathwatch service?
Wait a minute where the hell did I hear that
Its probably part of the penance he underwent
Don't they usually keep the silver shoulder for that ?
I assumed it was devotion chains , because he was taken away by black templars and an inquisitor at the end of 1
then afaik, he got demoted and did "penance"
We'll find out
we will
Penance could mean deathwatch service
could mean it yeah
do the ultramarines treat deathwatch service as a penance though
or are they one of those oh its an honor
I don't recall em keeping any signs after their service, they do take an oath of silence however
They have to ?
oh damn, according to the wiki titus in space marine 2 is officially a primaris
I didnt know that
Apparently they do yeah, I'm not sure it's the same oath sisters of silence take
Being a first born space marine that is just normal is not gonna do him anything so hey a little upgrade is good
it makes sense considering deathwatch deals with some very secretive things
yeah, its nice they gave him the upgrade
Can't see anything like that in the Honour badges
The oath of silence with the Deathwatch is basically they just can't talk about what they did in the deathwatch
Yeah, they don't go full on mute with sign language
So more like a Non Disclosure accord than an Oath of Silence
It’s an Oath where they have to be silent about what happened and what missions they were on
Correct me if im wrong but
Although they can and do share knowledge about how to combat enemies they’ve fought and some secret knowledge which is often a huge value to chapters
There are radical inquisitors who use them yes
It's an extremely old model for GKs, set in metal
They don't make it anymore to my knowledge
But very often that’s a very very dangerous line to walk
And a lot of Inquisition members will try to kill you on sight for using one
And yeah, creation of daemonhosts is something radical inquisitors do
It's an insanely risky move with dubious results at best and extreme consequences at worst
For example Eisenhorn
Eisenhorn?
Book series about an inquisitor of the same name
He created a daemonhost, cherubael
this guy
He has done a lot of things that is considered radical by his peers
He was even hunted if my memory serves me right
yes a lot of the inquisition are very puritan
Loyalty does not matter if you do something that the people that you serve consider wrong
That statement is incredibly prevalent in the imperium
Blue on blue be the norm in the Imperium, isn't it?
thus punishments must be enacted
So the inquisition works like this
You have a bunch of people with theoretically limitless authority
Some of those want to stick to the traditional lines, some, the radicals, want to push the boundaries and do whatever possible to ensure tue imperium survives
The former despise and hunt the latter
Puritans vs Radicals in a nutshel
Think of the age of shame
I sure hope the radicals win at least
when the inquisition went against the space wolfs
Radicals typically go insane
they often go too far, way too far
How did that go?
they fucked around and found out
Months of shame
Far as in opening a warp butthole in real space and allowing a total daemon invasion to occur?
Grey knights got their asses handed to them
Potentially, radicals dabble with powers they barely understand often
It's definitely a scaling thing
Space wolves still exist, I can assume heavy losses on the inquisition
A daemonhost if it breaks free can do a whole lot of awful stuff
Even the weakest one would obliterate a tank with a punch no problem
Would that mean the daemon hosts our guys fight DT can have that kind of power? Explains why tanks are all shells
Games cannot be lore accurate because Warhammer lore is insane
correct, Many grey knights died leading to a coup of the ship where the inquisitor in charge was. Leading to a grey knight I believe killing him
the guy was a dick tho
totally deserved
never forget Celestial Lions
darktide is not the most lore accurate
a lore accurate Warhammer game would honestly be unplayable
yep
GW really loves throwing around extremes in their descriptions
las guns are pretty good by earth standards, then we see the shit they fight in the regular
A lasgun despite all the memes is an incredible weapon
easy to make
Hurts like hell
Basically unlimited ammo (can recharge packs in a bloody campfire even)
And when all else fails calibrate it into a grenade
To quote a chaos marine "those who mock it never charged into a firing line with thousands of them"
I forgot the actual quote
yeah that is actually pretty accurate
One lasgun stings tickles an enemy, but thousands, that's walking into the damn sun
"The Legionnaire that scoffs at a lasgun has not charged across an open field against a hundred of them."
— Maor the Scarred, Siege-Champion of the Scargivers, Black Crusade
A lasgun is pretty strong, they just happen to face things that can take a beating
and literal normal firearms are still in the setting and they get called shit
Can it kill an Eldar guardian?
It can rip limbs off
The setting has an AK47 and the basic gun of the military is a laser gun that can blast concrete
Yet it still gets trash talk
And even pierce marine armor if hit in a weakspot
Mean if i can be honest
And if that's not enough you can calibrate the setting to have more power and turn it into a sniper rifle
It's pretty versatile
It also has full auto mode too?
it can kill an eldar, the issue is hitting them
yes
Depends on a pattern iirc
pretty sure if you were a regular dude and had a Bolter round wiz past you by like a foot pretty sure youd still die
Hellguns come full auto
They're basically space elves turned space ninjas
Explains why its gonna be hard to hit them
Your chances of hitting someone with a shoota is lower than your chances of hitting someone with a sling shot
Slingshots are actually scary
Yeah i just have to read david versus goliath every time i need reminding
Firing a shoota is probably fun
Slingshot, and the predecessor the sling, were devastating weapons of war
And still use in small game hunting up to now
Make sure to fill in the bits that are missing though because I'm pretty sure you click the trigger this thing gonna fall apart
pulls trigger
Gun blows up
depends how many orks are around you
and david didn't use a slingshot he used a sling
slings were used as military weapons for ages
Yee
ancient greeks would throw lead balls with slings in combat
basically low velocity muskets
i mean you can just fill in the missing parts because orks do build machine with actual parts it's just so crudely built that you need to fill in the missing ones to stabilize it
The biggest example of this is commissar Yarrick
Those shits destory
they really are the perfect fighting force when you think about it. orks need very little logistics other than whatever they think they need
Yeah and they are also self-sufficient because they photosynthesize
don't have to worry about losing specialist on the field because can just grow a mechanic on the back yard
i dont get how nids are winning against orks
even nids need some sort of sustenance
The hive minds like abusing their genetic knowledge
For every tyranny you kill 10 more will replace it with a flick of a finger
The orks is their substenance
oh right
Yeah orks are a biomass farming farm with how much they replenish quickly
Octarius is a good example of this
Ork spores fighting against Micronids
divide and conquer would be the best way to win against orks right
as long as they're all infighting tribes they can't waaaugh
Honestly the best way would be to bore them out and make new spores impossible
I guess the best way is to occupy them with another fight then swoop in when they are weakened but even then particularly smart war bosses can still take advantage of that
Yeah find a way to get them to leave and basically get rid of any spores they left behind is the best way of getting rid of them
so getting rid of the warboss is a priority
were the orks made by the old ones
that's one of the best ways to break their morale but again it also depends on the warband you are fighting because another one can just take the position
yes but since they couldn't find anything to fight and the eldar systematically killing a large portion of them and literally triggering God Mode every time they fight made them become Orks
it's pretty funny that the best way to save the galaxy from chaos and nids would probably be to let orks become massive
Yeah and if you get rid of the two you have another problem
who would entertain the giant massively smart orks?
once both are defeated they'd just regress back to infighting and that's when you exterminate them
or hell they'd probably all just go into the warp to fight forever
Orks that are larger are a lot smarter and they realize that there are things to kill war of the beast highlights how dangerous this is
those guys have attack moons and literally sent a diplomat that speaks gothic to ask for terra's surrender
yeah humanity would be massively weakened but is that a bad thing
with terra dead, the emperor gone and all the primarchs destroyed maybe then humanity can move on from the imperium
and then star wars happens
Emps dying can have unpredictable results
and also would extinguish the astronomicon, making interstellar travel a whole lot harder
it would be harder only if the warp remains as unstable as it is
but with orks killing a ton of chaos who knows how calm things would become
and with most sentient life being killed off
the warp literally became what it is thanks to the war in heaven
chaos can't do their trickery on orks is the best part though
killing sentient life won't help it buddy
khorne literally keeps a waagh for entertainment
yeah Tuska is still at the realm just killing anything that breaths
They absolutely can pull wacky things on em
They're there against their will still, because khorne liked em enough
i thought that was because of slaanesh
humanity didn't need the astronomicon during its golden age
A lot of the bad things in the setting you can literally trace all the way to the war in heaven
The birth of me Slaa caused a catastrophy but warp was horrible way before that
In the first place the entire reason she was born is because a group of highly psychic individuals is decided to have fun way too much
Nurgle was wide awake by that time for example and he was the second to awaken
The jorp
warp travel was still calm enough to not need the light of the emperor. in the imperial days it's straight up impossible without the astro
god i hate eldar
Humanity had way more advanced tech back then so they might have bypassed the warp entirely
Like there's a time traveling ship from that era
no they definitely used the warp
they genetically created the navigators
and there's space hulks from that era
like a ton of them
there's this one space hulk that was the remains of a time traveling ship with an intact AI on it
crazy shit
the only species that can bypass the warp are eldar and necrons i think
Tau
The Webway is still dependent on the Warp
They sorta dip in and out without going too deep
So still use the Warp
They tried to of course try human tech but they removed the comatose psyker for the warp Shields
you can guess what happened
Only Necron don't use the Warp at all
the tyranids use gravity right?
For interstelar voyage ? They travel without faster thanlight stuff
for how intentionally stupid the world of 40k is, it's surprising how it's one of the few sci fi settings that shows how important FTL travel is for an interstellar empire
It can then somehow harness the system's gravity to create a corridor of compressed-space through which Tyranid vessels can travel towards the system at a swift rate. Whilst slower than proper warp travel, this method is infinitely more reliable.[1]
lex
yeah they don't use the warp
But of course they slow down because they harness the gravity of the world which causes a lot of problems to the said world
so that's how they came from a different galaxy
Yeah but when they are closing in they have to slow down a certain point because you know gravity is a *****
it's still slower than light right
why can only eldar use the webway all the time
But slow
Slower than basically all other factions
Also it can’t be used near planets
webway is so ancient that it's falling apart and only eldar know the entry points
yep
Yeah they manually fly to their target after reaching a certain distance
wait so is it faster than light or not
It’s their main weakness as a faction is their slower FTL
I just said it is
seems like getting entry points to the webway should be big on the imperiums to do list, because its better than their travel right?
It’s just slower than others
It’s kinda like saying getting Necron jump drives should be a priority
yeah but compared to the other ones it's very very reliable
Kinda easy to say hard to do
didnt the emprah have a webway project
Yes
which magnus bazooka'd
bruh the fucking space bugs have more advanced FTL than humanity
Didn’t work out
They don’t
It’s shit compared to everyone else’s
can humanity do the compressed gravity stuff though
traveling faster than light without using the warp seems like a pretty crazy advantage for humanity
Ripping a hole into hell and flying through it is pretty advanced
While yes it's a lot safer to the users the problem is like it said it's incredibly ******* slow compared to the others
yeah they are harnessing gravity here to basically slingshot themselves
humans would need specialized gear to withstand something like that
most of the imperium doesnt even know the webway exists
it's still a close kept secret
well yeah, but so is chaos
and the grey knights
most of the imperium could probably do with being told some truths
It’s not like they can just snap their fingers and get the webway
true
Even if everyone knew
its time to torture some eldar
by secret i mean it's something the eldar don't talk about
oh
They just can’t access it
Big E was super aware and he didn’t even bother to try to use the Eldar stuff
He just made his own gate which obviously didn’t work out but the point being it isn’t worth trying to use it that way
Not even the Eldar fully understand the webway
yeah knowing about the webway is one thing but knowing about its labyrinth interior is another
And lots of it is collapsed and dangerous now anyways
the drukhari should be better with the webway than other eldar right?
does everyone know where comorragh is or is that like a secret?
It’s probably the most known location
it's ironic how eldar act like humanity is primitive while they themselves use the webway which is the remnants of a species that was vastly more advanced than them
Eldar have always been the trust fund kid race
only the Harlequins know the web way very well considering that they abuse and live in the damn thing, but of course feel free to try to capture one i'm pretty sure it will go well
everybody in 40k is just using stuff that was made by better people before them
except the tau apparently
That’s a big theme yeah
“The best stuff was already made and will never be surpassed” kinda deal
khans in the webway, he probably has some fun stories to tell
" I was moving too fast, I saw nothing"
The Tau just have a rigid caste system enforced by some group of beings that look kinda like tau and showed up fairly recently in their species's history
even this aspect is like a big fascist thing taken to the extreme. i love the irony in it
Idk about that, it’s a common theme in a lot of sci fi
Lightsabers being from a more civilized age
Ancient tech from the civilization before being super advanced but hard to understand
Surviving for eons
fascists love talking about ancient empires. look at mussolini trying to restore the roman empire and the nazis with their aryan race stuff. i like to believe 40k does this on purpose
It's all a big pastiche for funsies, yeah

They've gone from it being just that into actually taking some bits seriously
Because otherwise it'd be a bit one note
40k doesn’t talk about the empires before with rosey light
It doesn't talk about much of anything with rosey light
The Dark Age of Technology is not thought of as a good time
not 40k as a whole but the imperium does
Nah
No they really don’t
They just look up to the 30k era
30k era to some extent but even then
Yeah if it's called dark age of technology I don't think it's good
Age of Strife also
Not a lot of positive things to say about here ancient empties
They did make cool guns though
while yes that era it's a source of technological wonders it's also a source of technological abominations and the abominations are very prominent
still i think it has some elements of ancestor worship
My impression is GW doesn't take their setting as seriously as some fans. A lot of people are trying to dig deeper mining some serious social commentary while most of the time "plastic soldiers kapoow boom"
sly marbo exists
And fluff to make everyone think their faction is cool
Except for Nids
I would also largely agreed with that, some stuff is meant to be a little commentary but like
yeah no i dont think it has any direct social commentary to it
Nids are meant to lose
It’s not that deep
i can see some elements taken from IRL though
If you have to bend over backwards to make a metaphor or commentary work
Idk, probably not worth
some authors seem to put in the effort i feel
the swarm lord is probably the most bullied next to the avatar of khaine
Alpharius Omegon is a commentary on the propensity of young males to look at a Ryan Gosling character and go "he's literally me"
I am Alpharius.
The Adeptus Mechanicus is a commentary on how working in engineering or tech support for long enough will make anyone religious about when machines decide to work
Perform the rites of turn it off and on again, percussively maintain the offending machine spirit thrice and utter the curses of lamentation.
the way dan abnet put it once is what i feel about it. it's more of a thematic trend that was started in first edition that continues today. it's no longer a direct commentary on the world but it's got a lot of elements from real life things that you can notice
Because authors, by the necessities of existence, are influenced by the world around them.
yeah
And can think something is super rad
And throw it in
Which is valid
Their story, their choices.
Superstition, oppression, everything going to shit... Yup it's real life alright
Definitely tech rookies, IT directors usually know what's going on
That's what they want you to think
If they don't, well we get the mechanicus
I imagine non admech IT is like, a brain surgeon
I don't think you're supposed to have non Admech IT in the Imperium
There's the whole treaty thing
On like a hive world and stuff you can’t risk a tech Priest being in the under hive
even non mechanicus repair people in 40k do exactly what the mechanicus does
Combat engineers are usually just fancy sappers with shotguns
Fair, but that's definitely under the table
And who makes big booms
he's got the metro 2033 shotgun
That would be cool
It's from the Vraks books so
Lots of underground combat
Against traitor PDF, mutants and khornate berserkers in the tunnels
This sounds like someone who has way too little experience with tech directors
Everyone knows what they’re doing when it’s easy
Here's the front
But then there’s that one fucking engine or computer or whatever
the only people who know what they're doing in tech are experts in very narrow fields that they've been working with for years
And fucks sake you tried everything and tore it apart and rebuilt it over and over and fuck just break out the incense and start praying
Or who literally came up with the language/application
And even then
like i said, experts in very specific things
No one knows what they’re doing some people are just less confused
The machine is beyond our meager, biological minds
it's what happened to tech during the age of strife. at some point domains become so advanced and niche that losing a bunch of experts due to war and stuff leads to nobody else knowing what to do
humanity would still be fucked tech wise even if they had all their STC's intact
Definitely
Also during the DAoT it’s not like humanity was unified
But having solid blueprints that don't spit out abominations when you try them out would be cool
i think foundation from isaac asimov did this first
the whole tech degradation thing
Do we know if they fought each others often ? Afterall they made all these super op weapons, I doubt it was for the scientific achievement.
i'd say dune did it too but i think in those books it was a voluntary choice for humanity to shy away from too much science
i see it thrown around sometimes that humanity's military tech was so advanced that even orks signed peace treaties
might just be hyperbole
could be true if humanity had the means to wipe them out if they wanted to
humanity was actually nice back then
killing psykers would have been a nice thing to do too but they were nice to them and regretted it during the age of strife
Yeah but psyker you can agrue that they're also human beings
And all the bad shit that happened, they didn't wilfully make it
Angry_zealot_noises.sfx
maybe this is why the emp was so anti xenos. he realized humanity's past mistake
If humanity spared Orks from total extinction, they were even more clueless than the Taus
I mean naive like back when the taus started expanding
oh yeah tau themselves are still naive
but chaos doesn't seem to care about them much so understandable
golden age humanity being naive is a whole thing too
Probably never, wouldn't work as cosmetic for the current ones
we only know about them from the imperium's perspective so that's also something we have to take with a grain of salt
they had to wisen up at some point, they expanded so far away the golden age probably lasted very long
considering they had no warp travel
uh
there were very few psykers though back then and chaos didn't want to reveal itself yet
but then eldar had too much fun and slaanesh was born causing the warp to be near impossible to navigate in
that cut off a lot of humanity's worlds from eachother, starving them from resources
and lots of other shit happened like the men of iron and the psykic awakening
age of strife was all about that
Even as a new mark?
emperor let all this happen
some would say intentionally but i like to believe he just overslept a couple thousand years
Would need to be a new weapons as it would need new animations and wouldn't work with the special amo
single action revolver shotgun
are krieg engineers ever mentioned outside of vraks material
Yeah they had two pairs of socks
Those bastards
Having socks at all on Atoma was already a luxury, but two pairs?
