Tbf I was fully intending to kill him if I ever got the chance. I just role-played too hard and was relieved he was out of my hair until idira was back in my party
Okay so
I c
White dwarf this month is focused on Tyrannic War
With a fun little batch of stuff about how possibly Vashtorr is inspiring galactic-wide tech advancement. Including the Rusted Claw GSC making genestealer-computer and the Iron Warriors having EVEN MORE daemon engines suddenly. Worryingly implying that Vashtorr contributed to the age fo strife
Vashtorr making gains is good

Harsh reality
I still think calling him a "demi-god' was meant to gauge fan reactions to potential new chaos gods and honestly, if it's Vashtorr, I'm all for it
Yeah same I love him
True
He is the best candidate
Maybe he also will bring Dark Mechs with him
my man owns forge of souls that forces demon to go against their own patron if needed
that takes serious balls
He's up there with void dragon for my favorite minis that's ill never paint because I'd just profane them
Vashtorr deserves better than my arthritic hands
Also rogue trader/lore talk again
Can someone deep in the game confirm that Grace is in it? I heard from someone that it's part of the second half and I'm super excited for it, but I don't want to get too excited for a rumor
My party synergy is just demolished. I made my trader a great sniper, because I thought Yrliet was straight, but she's not, so I'm taking her, and now we have 2 snipers and 1 tank š¬
I have serious respecs to take care of
same with void dragon, they still look so good with minimal effort and metallic paint
If I painted a void dragon I'd want flats, but that only looks good with glow effects and I uh
I'm not skilled enough for that and probs never will be
I want to tackle some centerpiece model like that sooner or later
for now I painted a lot of marines and not enough big models
but I haven't seen a single bad looking paintjob on vashtorr
such a cool design
I can't find anything online about Grace in the game T-T I guess it's not there
Shame, it's probably one of my favorite planets
Abelard just killed two forgefiends
Same
I think warrior might be a teensy bit broken
My next rogue trader will be a warrior so we can fight side by side as siblings
Also holy fuck
With tactician
If you use your buff
You can deal 50 damage per shot
And with a hotshot it'll have 40% armour pen
I say "as siblings". I gaslight this man every opportunity I get and that will not change in future playthroughs
"I told you not to do that"
"Well it's your fault I had to."
I know this scene is iconic but I always hated it beyond hate. I saw it on mythbusters as a kid and i didn't believe it was real, I thought mythbusters edited the hat on the grass in. I ended up watching it when I was like 12 and this one scene ruined the whole film for me.
There is no reason to have the hat on the grass in front of the statue. The viewer saw the hat hit an intact statue, and then continue moving, which it would logically do if it cut clean through an object. The hat should be on the other side of the statue, and the scene should just show the head without the hat in front of it.
Unnecessary artistic license that adds nothing and talks down to the audience, since any reasonable person would be able to tell the hat cut the statue without it laying right next to the head.
God I was the worst possible child.
what in the fuck-
Good now give the orks actual technology that they can work with
I wish to return to Krork status
Nuh uh
Here gives a bunch of scrap metal
Work with this
And faster, ya gitz
Right away boss.....
Works self to death after being caught between two gears that spin around for no reason
he is an old British Navy Officer. ofc he is near immortal and nigh unstoppable
How the hell do I kill a Styx cruiser
Get better stuff
Thereās several fights you shouldnāt be taking right now
Save before you do ship battles
I've got 5 colonies
I did fkn
Shield of the Emperor
To get an extra ship
it's AI
goes before me every engagement
gets killed immediately
Aaaaa
LMAO
That why you just become a super cruiser
Show those Eldar why they should have packed some shields
Silly holofields
What do da orkz think of ogryns
More like Halo-fields, cause youāre about to meet your maker
Lol
That theyāre dangerous and a good fight
Eldar not having shields has always been weird ngl
But meh
It makes them pretty distinct from other fancy high tech sci fi factions
Ok but seriously I need to kill 2 destroyers, a harbinger(?) And a Styx to protect Foulstone
Uhhh
I am pleased with the asnwer
Cheat time

I mean I might be able to kill them if I'm not shouted at next time and if my ally frigate doesn't throw itself into one of the instant kill warp storms
Yeah ngl that seems a bit unreasonable early lol
I'm about ready to start chapter 3
Skill issue seems likely
I'll try again once I'm not under threat of bludgeoning for not looking at my exam material
Battlefleet gothic armada makes me dread fighting eldar in this game even though theyāre completely different
Chapter 3 is fucking wild once you go to commorragh
one of the best chapters in the game for me
And by completely different I mean theyāre not cancer to fight
Does it have a time skip where everything goes to shit outside?
And do you continue the colony management thing after
I'm still salty about the bug in the end of chapter 1 fight but I'm trying to accept its early access
Well ig not early access but newly released
The one you get for going Chaos, or is there another?
||You got captured in an ambush and lose most of your items and gotta scavenge until meeting a haemoculus who eventually gives you your gear back||
||oh is there no time skip||
But the key didnāt spawn cause the corpses didnāt
Oof
Iām just using Drukhari weapons and shit for my dude now anyways and pascal gets the plasma
Multimelta for some fights
But are we though?
I'm not drunk enough to speak of wizardry
I donāt even know what weāre talking about
Yeah I sorry I went off the rails. It was rogue trader talk. I saw a word that set me off in a weird direction.
Humoncolli, they are in mythos something akin to a clone, only smaller
Rogue Trader -> Dark Eldae -> Hummonculus
Who is the oldest ork (other than ghazghkull)
grotsnik should be older than ghaz
Haemonculi*
š¤
Haemonculus is singular
old zogwort is a candidate too, because he's called old and he's a warboss too
I've already said I'm not drunk enough for magic talks
Me, shooting the filthy heretics for using xenos weapons and tech with my xenos weapons and tech, with my xenos sniper bodyguard.
(I have a warrant so morally itās ok)
"Oh the workers are striking? Abelard, smack their nuts"
Abelard crush their skull
I don't make Abe do anything for me, because that is a weaklings way
An empire is built on iron will
and deny Abe his purpose?
Your servants are an extention of your will
If I know what Abe is doing, he's doing his job wrong
Real power is never having to lift a finger people fear you so much smh
I did make Pascal introduce me, but that was purely to humiliate him
He was new to my service and had to learn his place
SMH actually read "The Prince".
Path of the Dark Eldar + Lukas the Trickster
The first is one of the best eldar books out there and is a trilogy with lots of good dark eldar content on it from the Pre-Rift 40k era. Lukas the Trickster is mainly a space marine book but in a show of rarity also has a Dark Eldar Corsair antagonist called Duke Sliscus who shares an equal amount of chapters, he also invades Fenris for a brief hunting trip and him and Lukas come to blows, they are both hilarious and a cut of different cloth from their faction and are very fun to read about.
thats literally all they got for "mainline" books, the short stories are not worth the money but that goes for most 40k short story books for factions.
Wait fuck
For xenos books infinite and the divine, twice dead king for Necrons. Iām not familiar enough with tau, orks brutal kunnin, ghazkullās books. Craftworld Eldar Valedor.
Im 12 hours into rogue trader and feel as if I have done nothing
AND I LOVE IT
The tech priest's voice actor is top notch btw
Absolute gigatech
Path of the Eldar and Path of the Dark Eldar, collections of short stories about them. I never like either until I read these.
Is anyone else creeped out by Cassia? I don't like how often she's referred to as "the child" and the impact your on choices have own her personality. It all feels kind of... groomy?
I want to love her as much as I did pre-release, but like. It's weird.
Sheās yeah
I love Cassia commenting how his aura is more vibrant and beautiful than almost anyone else sheās seen
Iām not sure how to feel
Heās pretty young lol
Only a few decades old
He got that psyberhound in him
Yeah I love her for my build, but I stepped away from all that and made her have a professional relationship with the trader
I mean the psychic stuff is all super fun and I love it. I love her design, I love the basics of her character. I just get uncomfortable with how it's all presented.
I mean Navigators are weird
She just feels too young, even if her portrait is like, mid to late 20s
Sheās barely interacted with anyone
Sheās childlike because of that
But sheās not a kid
Everything is new to her
Idk it makes me uncomfy which is a shame because she's one of the major reasons I bought the game
Including anyone she could actually have a romantic relationship with
Everyone in the group is kinda disturbing in their own way often
Ngl
I donāt feel comfortable romancing her lol
And I prolly wonāt lol
Yeah I feel like, at best, she's a cat to me
But I was never super wrapped up in the romance options for the game anyways
Shes so sheltered
Same
I'm real interested in romance options, even though most games do them poorly
Tbh I donāt really think mostly CRPGs can do it super well without a lot of voice acting minimum
Preferably good modeling too
Bruh thatās crazy long then huh
Baldurs Gate and Mass Effect being obvious examples
Probably gonna take me all winter break
Did grey knights adhere to the codex?
No
I get that I have a "vibe" when I talk about women, but I actually think chaste but 3 dimensional romance for rpgs is vital. Given Cassia was my favorite based on looks and minimal info alone, I think owlcat dropped the ball her.
Baldurs gate was great
I love it
I played that in EA and I am so glad it made GoTY
Thatās the one thing I donāt like about Rogue Trader
Itās a great game
Too much reading not enough VA for me
Theyāre very 40k romances
By which I mean, I barely notice "adult" scenes, but getting to know characters and having unique, emotional interactions with them is vital to me in rpgs
They have that but itās in setting
The romances are more just ways to explore how these weirdos interact
Cassia is exploring the weird courtship of navigators and upper class
Yeah but she's not even "culturally" a navigator
Yrilet is more just exploring how an Eldar can even like a human as a friend
She's a labrat
She very much so is
She's literally set back to early teens in terms of personality
Theyāre very cut off from the rest of the Imperium
Not all are like her
But sheās a good example of a common type we see
Theyāll live their whole lives in their suites cut off from the ship often
Never leaving
Yrliet is unironically the "kink" route
Yrliet has some stuff that really does it for a certain niche, but it seems platonic to someone outside that community
No like yrliet plays into 4 or 5 really specific things and really hams it up for those things
Ok
I genuinely don't want to get into details because of the server, but like: you've seen me gush over the swarmlord. Yrliet does all those things better.
Its less groomy
more just the classic sci-fi trope of uhhh
"We raised this child from birth to the be the perfect weapon"
other fictions with super-powered kids usually do the same "the child" trope thing
āGirl trapped inside all her life gets swept up by dashing adventurerā
^
I'm OK with dating a human pug, I just don't want to be the one who pugs her
Idk if thereās even implied sex tbh
She's a fish (affectionate)
Her storyline?
Itās not that kinda game
No but I mean itās not really the point, her whole romance is like
How nobles interact in 40k
There's fades to black for every romance except yrliet, who gets a graphic mindmeld psychic sex scene
Thats how they keep their genes
Keep the gene
Damn
Anyone whose not a Navigator canāt pass it on
Small group who have it
Do the math
They need to make a group or something that they can date from
They do
Oh fr
They marry their cousins, fett
Had me thinking they stay within the ship/family
Houses will literally have eligible younger members bang as bargaining chips
Yeah its a play on how old noble european houses and such did incest to keep their bloodline pure
To broaden the gene pool and stuff
ā¹ļø
Darktide literally has an item description that makes fun of this too
Anyway it's getting to the point where I like how mutated she is, but at this point I'd rather date felek
I mean she is?
literally spent her entire life locked up and trained to be a super-navigator
she doesnt understand people
I love the gills, nails, and bulging eyes. 10/10. Dream wife.
Sheās in her twenties I think but tbh some people also just act younger irl too
People are sheltered
This is literally all new to her
^
So how did the first person get the genes then
Sheās still very much an adult
Sheās very educated
She just hasnāt done anything
I mean that begs the question, would I date a 25 year old who acts 16? And the answer is no. Cassia makes me feel creeped out, made even worse by the fact that she was verily heavily featured in promotional material, and the fact that she became my favorite through said promotional material
Idk man, this all depends lol.
But I wouldnt date Cassia irl either lol
you can literally be nice and understanding towards her lol
Sheās not a helpless kid
^
Sheās aware of her actions
She just doesnt understand stuff
Sheās just never done anything
ye exactly
She knows how it all works cause sheās read about it
Like its very obvious shes anti-social and introverted to a certain degree
exactly yeah
half her "trivia" for the world comes from books
I feel like she acts like a child, and when you first meet her, and a few times after that, she's referred to as such, and its doubled down on when you realize she will accept anything you tell her
Ehhh as a person that acts really similiar to Cassia at times ill disagree
Shes not a child.
I mean if you wanna think that but thatās not the intention I donāt think
Yeah its not
YEP
she is one of the few people to always think
Nobility good
Peasants bad
lol
None of them are but yeah like sheās not some innocent baby
She has no qualms killing or whatever
Yeah shes just not taught well.
This has less to do with age and more to do with experience.
Idk ig this is a matter of interpretation. I just think that the direction owlcat took her can feel kind of skeevy, and that there's better ways to present a poorly socialized introvert
Nah
As a socialized introvert its very accurate
lmao
Im not this on the deep end but most of the stuff she does more or less speaks to some things I also do with people in public etc
OK I'm drunk so its sharing time
I think this is more a you thing ngl, which itās fine if you donāt like it
^
But I wouldnāt like
Can always get rid of her
I have not left my house for any reason other than shopping in 2 years
And she still feels too young to me
I don't think its an introvert thing
I mean you have left your house though
Sheās done jack shit
Itās theoretical for her
^
Cassia also can either get completely manipulated by you if you are a piece of shit or you can help her see how the "world" mostly works and be a kind friend or lover (if male) to her and so on.
Its done very well.
||Like theres a part where she almost kills you and you speak and get through and past her insecurities to tell her shes strong and capable and not a weak walking time bomb||
She literally thinks shes a detriment at times.
I need to make this clear: I am not judging anyone here for anything, I don't think my interpretation of a fictional character reflects anyone else in real life. I just think this character could have been handled better, and is by many people's standards unpleasant as romance option.
Also you can build her into an overpowered as fuck murder machine
Im sorry Cassia
id love to get you paint
but you gotta reveal your 3rd eye and melt these cultists for me
āCassia, make them repentā
Also ye thats fine
its more that cassia is not presented that way even if it may come across like it, if you spend more time with her and listen to the stuff she says it becomes more clear
The characters all have pretty interesting arcs that Iāve seen
Abelard is the most basic and heās still fucking awesome.
Anyway I'm gonna brain Frick an elf now
Idiraās is weird because for some reason Owlcat didnāt bother to put an option after you have Argenta blast her for being a reckless dumbass
Shame about that
āOh yeah letās try to summon my dead master while weāre traveling in the warpā
āIts not like I know that can go horrifically wrongā
My one regret about letting Heinrix go is that he can't dispose of that mutant filth for me.
Yeah he seems cool, he just didn't fit the role-play I was doing
Idira is the only one who it feels like you should definitely kill or get rid of
On my next run I'll probably keep him
Form a lore perspective
100%
But also I told him point blank how much I hated him and he fell in love with me
Which like
Dude have higher standards
Heinrix is 100% codependent
||Touch her hand at the end, don't do anything else.||
Heās just got a type
I read a guide specifically so I don't fuck this up
It would be great if we didn't have minimal same sex options owlcat
LMAO SAME
Legit š
apparently it was also entirely from GW interference btw
they nitpicked a lot of what the writer could add and not add
lmao
Oh I assumed it was because it was a Russian company
Nah it was entirely GW
the writer Olga is FILTHY so she tried to put as much stuff as possible without going overboard
Marazhai is one example who you can have a pretty good romance with

No I wasn't ragging about yrliet earlier
She literally hits a series of very niche kink stuff that are all connected in a way that must be intentional
Add in that she's bi and it becomes pretty clear that was the intention
Again, very strong kink stuff. She is designed for an extremely abnormal definition of "sex"
I don't want to get into details because this is a big server, but there's an entire subculture for characters like her
Yeee
also people getting mad at her for turning down a random crew member who she approaches just to ask to have sex with her is like ???
What do you want her to do, say yes?

Try that IRL see how it goes for you
Bro literally workplace harassment
LITERALLY.
"Oh shes just racist."
No she just has a functioning brain lol
ah well anyway that was my own rant
She did the correct thing and went to her boss when a coworker made her uncomfortable
The backlash, even if memey, made me lose the last scrap of hope I had for men
I don't wanna sound sexist but uhhh yeah š
I do also like that the obvious "horny" options
Make her repulsed by you
Like yeah that adds up, she works for you, that should seem gross
Thatās not really why
I like to think actually choosing that adds you to a database of "desperate subs" that owlcat will one day use for nefarious purposes
100%
She doesnāt like it because she finds humans repulsive and has no interest in that
It's a mix of things
It definitely makes the slight worse.
because she very much is your follower and you acting like a literal boar to her is a bit š
Asuryani still do activities like that at times for fun but its obvious Yrliette is very much asexual/not after that sort of thing.
especially with a human
Again, I'll restate, Yrliet is the most aggressively sexual option
LMAO
Just for a specific community
Yeah then you got freaks like me simping for Marazhai
||you can do a weapon-play thing with his agoniser whip š ||
Yrliet is bait for a specific fish. Marazhai is a fucking deep sea trawler.
LITERALLY
The writer herself has that thats basically what he is so go off
Im very glad the GW guys in charge let her get away with this much stuff
its actually commendable
I'm a lesbian and I was almost seduced by him
When I say Yrliet reminds me of the Swarm Lord in the best way, that should tell you its intentional
š
omg they finally fixed the brute cranial implant description. Fianlly not described as a rebreather lmao
still has a type in it though lmao
Was:
To withstand the strain of fabled Ogryn halitosis and the sheer force of their belches and frunts, the standard Militarum re-breather needed heavier duty steel and a stronger frame, as exhibited by this model.
Now:
Cranial implants like this are usually fitted after catastrophic head injury that would otherwise result in death. Though there are a few who choose to undergo this painful procedure for the added "tactical benfits". (benefits spelled "benerfits"
Lmaoooo noooo
Marazai is definitely made for a certain group of people and they ain't even hiding it
Bro has the voice so smooth that s*** softens sandpaper
Considering your infliction of torment upon innocent souls using the way of the barrels on darktide yeah of course
Of course you f****** do
:)
AAA-

holy fucking shit, i just used the ability which turns an enemy ship 45 degrees during void combat on a drukhari warship, it turned and clipped into its ally and they both instakilled
the navigator just thinks really hard about the enemy ship turning, and it does
going through the penance armour sets, and holy shit psykers sometimes, or used to, have "soulsaver capsules" in case of daemonic possession. First impression was cyanide capsules, because you know, #Imperium. Could be something else though.
Listen I did something nice once in rogue trader and my menials pour acid into their own eyes, give the psykers the death pills
I mean shit, I'd take the pill instead of being possessed
I can't even say what I'd do if I had a cyanide pill in my tooth because it's better for me but worse for yall
that's my first thought, but then it mentions that they aren't/never were useful
Just like cyanide pills
Most cyanide capsules historically distributed were never used, and the few that were didn't work
From degradation for one thing, and when they were used in a crisis situation they didn't deliver the correct dose
It was just a really bleak waste of money
just like most things built for war, I guess.. anyways
If "most things built for war" were bleak wastes of money, maybe we would finally stop fucking going to war
Almost all the tech that exists is either war or nasa
I will be providing no source, fuck you
Theres also stuff like Heartburst Capsules
you can guess what it does when you swallow it if you get into trouble

is there a joke im not getting here
What book is that
fall of cadia
Yeah nah thats GW being corpos
Why is it 52$
jfc
That doesn't even seem like a norma lprice difference
even for GW lol
for a fucking mp3 file
Something-something "its hard to do voice acting, costs extra."
never change GW lol

gotta pay talents somehow, the fuckin Mr Krabs
fr
anyways i bought the new rogue trader game
aye
it's decent
by warhammer game standards it's one of the best
It is yet another Owlcat W tbh
feels weird going from darktide's scum to a game where a space marine is less powerful than you
This time you get to execute the scum

Inquisitor? Obliterate his soul
i usually play every game on the hardest difficulty but in this one just being on the slightly harder than normal is a struggle
Tbh
^
Hard == hard for CRPG fans
Unfair == total bullshit
They have a weird definition of "normal"
tbh
yeah the highest difficulty is literally called Unfair
yeah it legit feels like difficulty = unfairness
THATS LITERALLY WHAT IT SAYS
i don't need a reason to be not only capable of tanking a space marines punch, but also tear him out of his power armor
usually games say that but it's just a bit hard
Owlcat is like
like most first person shooters
yeah because first person shooters are usually trash
almost an indie company
and like divinity 2's difficult still lets you win without save scumming at least
tbh another issue is that its also like
Warhammer Rogue trader
its a FFG system adaptation
which is pretty lethal
is it literally tabletop rules
Mostly yes
im already so confused by all the different stats
99.9%
its like almost a 1 to 1
from Rogue trader
except they made ship combat less shitty
||bro on story the Kabal dark eldar on chap 3 got me tweaking||
its literally an RPG
get to reading

Or I'll break your fucking hands
FFG is not known for making easy to digest systems on first reading
Rogue trader makes it more easy to digest
even on the lowest Difficulty this game is a good challenge
movement points being completely separate from action points is something i've never seen before in a turn based strategy
Yeah because its based on the tabletop RPG
really? thats pretty common
the ones i've played usually have it so they're either part of action points or you can spend action points for extra movement
because being able to run away from enemies is a thing
not in this game though
so should i buy cadia
is it a good book
my friend really likes it
i'm on that noble grindset
we stay rich
well isn't that funny
my province isn't even on the list to register on black library
today i learned that audiobooks are expensive
Which is why you must engage in rule 8
One might say I have become the Rogue Trader ā¢ļø
at least i can vainly hope that some part of my money is going to the author and the narrator
abelard is a DOG
Bro is a Power house
Abelard, this fortress is in my way.
Of course, Lord Captain.
proceeds to bouldozer through hundreds of meters of concrete
Fucker beat a traitor Magos and two forgefiends to death pretty much single handedly
Abelard
Dude literally goes harumph and then slices and dices his way through everything
One time he proceeded to kill multiple enemies with a single slam of his Thunder hammer still one of the most goated moments
How far are you in?
chap 4
Ok good
I have to survive
2 more days
And I can play the game without being shouted at
I wonder if saving the common people and let them live is some trigger for a secret side quest
It gives my character some kind of mark that does nothing for now
as for the final boss for chapter 1, I think I over did it for him on normal difficulty
I debuffed him so much that his WS and BS stats was 1 and he died before he can destory any transports
so I was able to save both Nobles and common people
the reactor did not get saved since I chosen to save the Noble and common people first
Also, i found the heavy flamer
it is a reward at a higher rank for the church faction
Imagine if it punishes you later for being a good person
the whole "nice guy" path is weird as hell for a 40k game
im happy they let us have a third choice other than loyalism and chaos but like there's literally a mission at the start of the game where a noble is nice and ends up turning to chaos
if that isn't a clear indicator that it's a bad path then idk what is
the word "iconoclast" means
to be fair if anything the emperor appreciates being an iconoclast because he hates being worship
Guilliman is an iconoclast
and hey being nice to my subjects is a good thing because I don't want them to feel bad for their work
They put themselves in danger for the good of all may as well give them some things
Because itās the imperium
like the first time you get to choose a side it's literally:
-go through literal fire while believing the emperor will save you
-go through literal fire to prove you are worthy of otherwordly powers
-don't go through the literal fire and save the crewmen who have been helping you so far
the choices are
be stupid
be greedy
be nice
i just feel like i'm going to regret choosing the nice option since a nice rogue trader is pretty much unheard of
Just play the game and you will see that really depending on your actions it can really affect you trust me on that
So what's a fitting ship name by 40k standards?
take a word that was used in the 1800's and there you go
or pretty much any IRL british navy ship name from ironclads to WW2
Iconoclast been more of a Admire Spire path so far
I just named my ship "I love you tomorrow" then thought...is this even from dark?
there also been many Anti-Heretical actions in the Iconoclast options
i like how abelard is considered an iconoclast even though he'll execute his crew for disobeying orders
is it just me or are inquisitors very similar to rogue traders in how they function
running around star systems doing personal tasks while accumulating more and more rare tech and allies
most inquisitors are in a political war with other Inquisitors while using their job as a excuse to justify their actions anyways
Inquisitor Darkhammer, for example, one exterminatus a entire forge world just to deny his rival the chance to find a item that would have helped track down Heresy for the Imperium
She was not even looking for political benefits, just doing her job
Both Inquisitors and Rogue Traders back in the first days of 40k were made with an RPG game mindset.
Its why they can basically do anything they want, recruit anyone they want, go to any missions they want, deal with any threats they want. Its more or less intricately made to adhere to a roleplaying system, Fantasy Flight's RPG runs for Dark Heresy + Rogue Trader also incredibly fleshed out these things, so thats the main reason for why they seem similiar and gives both writers and game-masters a lot of tools to use while letting your players create their characters ontop of it, Darktide itself for example is straight out of a Dark Heresy game and is boosted by the fact that a lot of Fatshark employees that are into Warhammer also played that particular RPG a lot lol.
But one is just gestapo-cops while the other is a privateer in space.
the inquisition watching my rogue trader overpower a space marine in terminator armour and straight up fire twin heavy bolters by one hand

I assure you mister inquisitor, this aide dripped out completely in drukhari gear is nothing to worry about
(Helmsman, would you please fire the lance batteries)
has there been a story where a rogue trader lost his warrant of trade
the whole relying on a centuries old piece of paper thing always makes me think that this was a deliberate choice to add some kind of weakness to rogue traders
Yes.
Rogue Traders like any IRL noble or privateer can lose their status, be disowned or just be downtrotten
I can't wait to do a pure dogmatic/heretical run
same
Once i finish my first run i'm going to be so radical that even chaos itself would say chill
But so that i just don't hurt myself as much i will do some dogmatic stuff
Can't have the inquisition on my back after all
My Soldier/Arch Militant with his Power weapon and Bolter go... "I maybe a Iconoclast but I plenty of tools to deal with you."
Speaking of that....
Soldier/Arch Militant is such a funny class because it starts out more range with Soldier but becomes a powerhouse in both melee and range once Arch Militant
My character would walk through a plasma cannon no problem and straight up deck the chaos space marine that decided to shoot him
Wish the Rogue Trader game was more lore friendly like Darktide. Couldn't kill the Chaos Spawn in 0.2 seconds by spamming Krak grenades š
When you first get the Pasqal, I got real giddy with his weapon.
The satisfying boom of a thunder hammer Omnissian axe.
no i meant is there a story where the warrant of trade is physically destroyed
each rogue trader dynasty only gets one piece of paper right
signed by the emp herself
Thats way too specific so no lmao
bruh what
the way the warrant of trade is described begs for a story where one is physically destroyed
Only the most prestigious houses get a Warrant that dates back to the Great Crusade, you can otherwise get one through inheritance, finding it, or just getting one from high officials like the Adeptus Terra and so on.
š
so guilliman is the only one that can do that in modern imperium?
Yes and he has before following the Rift opening
assigned lots of rogue traders who already had warrants and some that didnt to go explore uncharted spaces for new Imperial settlements
pretty smart move to make pirates a valuable asset
I mean technically they arent pirates
they are Privateers
but prob same thing from an IRL origin point/perspective

either way though yeah rogue traders are pretty valuable in general, Grendyl himself literally has Brahms for the job to do at Atoma
pair him with a Plasma rifle and he will be deadly
im guessing he did this because you can't trust the mechanicus to explore a region without wasting massive amounts of time on searching for a golden toaster
Not really its more that rogue traders just can do it more easily
Generally they're very well defended. That could be a DM's plot hook, though.
Yeah and Rogue traders are very creative with their approaches

(chaos)
Like it's uncommon but the next thing you know this rogue trader just pulled out a warlord class titan out of his a** and decided to throw it at the problem
the thing i like about rogue traders and the cool inquisitors is they dont give a shit about what means they use as long as they reach their goal
The problem with that is more ambitious Traders/Inqs end up always dead.
you gotta know your place in the galaxy at some point

Hey if i can modify an ambot to be capable of wrestling an imperial night to the floor it's a good enough job for me
btw
you can end the game the moment you become a rogue trader
i did this by accident
if you tell abelard that you dont want to be a rogue trader and follow through with the dialogue he just says ok bye
I ******* knew it
LMAO I THOUGHT THAT CHOICE WOULD JUST FORCE YOU TO STILL BE ONE
this isn't a spoiler because it's literally right after the tutorial
you are still a Heir so you still have some authority and if you refuse you refuse
I do like how it more or less confirms that you becoming a Trader literally would save your planet and its people.
you get all the credits and everything
in fact the credits show you images of shit you are not supposed to see at that point in the game lol
KEK
i really wanted my guy to not give a shit about getting power so i followed through lol
you can now uninstall
ROGUE TRADER ANY% SPEEDRUN
saddest thing is you dont get an achievement for it
where Pagan asks you to wait for 15 minutes
SAD
but i did get the achievement for exploring every sector in the game just by reloading a save
so i guess that's bugged
this makes it look like i hacked the game
yeah it's bugged
i think the real crazy thing here is 96.9% of people who bought this 60$ game havent finished the prologue
They might be waiting for patches I guess
wdym
Holding off on playing until patches release for bugfixes etc
is the game unplayable for people or something
No but some people might be holding off on playing until more patches are out
Well
It might be unplayable for some
Act 2's been giving me a lot more desync issues too in coop.
I need to get the game still
Here I tought making my Techpriest into a deathmark was crazy,
then my friend sends me this

Your friend gave cassia the ability to carry heavy weapons
Wow
I think he wants to turn Cassia into a Rubric Marine
Im all for it ngl
This looks so cursed
So again "rumors" but basically with the Amazon Henry Cavill Warhammer TV show some GW guy signed a contract without consulting legal and itās basically fucked the whole thing ""ALLEGEDLY""

If this turns out to be true ill die
To say I am not shocked is an understatement
This is pretty late game but it's probably one of the best ones you could go for
Actually not that much now that I think about it
To obtain the sword you have to build a building in one of your planets
Just make sure you build the right buildings because I got my *** handed to me when I built the wrong one in the planet and I couldn't get this one
i choose to believe that nobody is this dumb
i really wish i can Demolish building and build a new one because I really want this
Did yāall know the warp can also act as a food for psykers? My horribly fat psyker in rouge trade eats the warp daily.
Do you know much about corporations
trust me š
a person of that level would have it as a habit to always send stuff to legal
like they're literally doing the work for you
also if amazon is so adamant about getting the IP they're probably already inclined to not put up with GW's bullshit
they're not comparable
but GW's legendary pearl clutching with its IP's will probably be its downfall
"not comparable" is one way of putting it š
also yeah GW acts like hotshit when its tabletop competition but when its anyone outside of that they know to keep their head bowed low

ya it is what you need if you go heavy weapon expert with a character
but more for Arch-Militant since they get Heavy Weapon passive for making Heavy weapons easier to use
however, building their buff require keeping a melee weapon since it only stacks up if you switch between melee attacks and range attacks
ya a lot of late game is based on how you progress your trading reputation and planet development
it is why we cannot spend all junk goods on every faction but only the faction we want that provides us with the goods we need for our character builds
not to mention manage how your planets will develop to gain profit factors and create endgame weapons, armor, and accessories once you do a certain project
The thumbs up next to talents/upgrades mean that they are recommended?
but if you're going for certain builds, you will not follow those recommended skills
I don't really know what I'm doing so I'll stick with it
Yeah right now i am spending a lot of my money with the Drusians
They have a lot of hard hitting melee weapons and amazing armor
For the range purposes of my team i have the explorators
And of course for the ship i take care of it with the navy
Assassin build for warrior, as a example, is going to getting break through skill, Sworn Enemy, and Reckless strike
I knew all that wasted time would come in handy eventually
focusing more on STR stats and AGI stats
The Emperor provides after all
and it is the factions that provide the Heavy Flamer weapon
which I need for my Argenta Build as a Heavy Flamer user
the one-handed flamer is helpful when I need build Arch Militant stacks since the buff only builds up if we switch between melee and range attacks
keeping a melee weapon in hand as a Arch Militant is a must
When can I start trading? I'm about to head to that temple
you should get introduced to your first two factions in Chapter 1
What temple.
Damn I'm in Chapter 1
The Electrodynamic Cenobium
oh that place
you should have unlocked your first two faction by now then
Nah
ā¹ļø
That's before Footfall
once you first meet the governer and that Void ship on your way to the planet
As you saw my warrior vanguard build has enough durability and raw strengths to tank a punch from a ogryn and proceed to body slam the mothafucka
My character can stack temporary wounds like it's lego
Warrior DPS/High Armor builds are always OP in this type of game
as long the enemy do not have crazy ignore armor abilities
I haven't gone on that ship yet
Yeah if your character doesn't have the ability to pierce my armor you may as well forget trying to hurt me
I didn't know what I was doing when I first got the map and just b-lined it to the minoris planet
that is the RPG experience
not to mention how you handle chapter 1 affects the other locations
such as gaining information about something you would have not known if you gone to another location first
while unlocking new events that can only happen if you done something else by going to a different location first
it is also not all about combat
we need to account for dialogue and interaction requirements to gain events and results we desire
Combining these stats together I have come to the conclusion that I can fold a titan
Yeah these items allow me to tank just about anything plus shove space marine down a locker
did you go forge world as well
they have a passive that provide more armor based on Toughness
Yeah they are the second ones behind the one I'm prioritizing being Drusians
not to mention to upgrade Heavy Armor to Power Armor stats
I'm talking about character origin
Have amazing range weapons perfect for my other party members as well
Character origin nope
I really don't like dark Eldar ships
you should not even like them in general
they are all crazy because of their past actions
"I will spawn behind you"
"I will also go first teehee"
nothing personal, monkeigh
Grand Strategist feels like a class you will take only if you plan for a bunker down strategy in battles
use the AoE buff to determine where you want your tank, DPS, and Support
Yeah I messed up by picking officer too lol
I don't normally play support so this got a learning curve for sure
officer is great due to instant turn activation ability and there are plenty of accessories later that buff it
Fr?
Its just tough for me because I'm not use to being the one who provides buffs n stuff
You can basically make Abe or any DPS focus character a murder fest person with officers healing him and buffing him
And if you want you can add further supporting power to this by picking the grand strategist
you'll become part DPS once you get the Master Tactician
Cassia has done me some good with this
their class skill focus on buffing their own attack while making enemies more vulnerable to your team's attack
Finish the Job is a great DPS skill for Officer since it helps deal with weaker enemies or add a extra damage hit on them
it is why I prefer giving Jae a sniper rifle so she can be on overwatch with Finish the Job skill
though Jae has a unique passive for dual wield pistols that only she has exclusively as well but that is more if you build her for close to mid range combat
I love how we've basically turned this into the rogue trader chat lol
Quick, say a lore fact to hide it
The highlords of terra with exception of like 3 are all dumb
Now back to rogue trader
This message was intercepted by Inquisition
So if I lack navigator insight
I think I might just be soft locked out of the rest of the game
just try to complete every quest you have
Visit every place you have access
If in doubt read the journal
Because if you can't travel you may as well try to complete your other side objectives
yeah it's not fun
Right now the only way you can really progress is if you brute force your way through your quest
Just literally tried to solve every ******* one of them
Tfw your navigator runs out of space fuckery so you're stuck
Oh well time to start a new campaign I guess
How does the Shrine of Remembrance work in the captain's quarters?
Is that players who've died or started before me
BRO the new Zola and Rannic dialouge
Yeah Zola definetely has personal reasons to get to Wolfer
Me and the 21st bout to wreck the 6th
GG EZ
What if Zola is wolfer
š„ŗ

I kid I beat the mission and I'm like "hm yes. Zola's big head on the mission terminal pleases me."
Amuses me so much
Comparing your boss to the "possible" guy responsible for the whole heretic uprising
Understandable reason, but still Zola definetely has personal reasons to reach Wolfer
Morrow knows it
Interesting
At least I'll die in a blaze of glory as I brrr my chaxe into a heretic
My theory is she doesn't know why she wants to reach Wolfer.
Partially cause of the beloved psyker line which goes something along the lines of, "shes hiding something but I don't think she knows she's hiding something".
We get paid?
You've not been thrown out the airlock yet, so metaphorically yes
opportunity to fight for the Emperor is the greatest pay
i am now playing on unfair difficulty because the game becomes ridiculously easy after the prologue
once you get 5 party members it's like every battle is a walk in the park
game still feels easy on unfair
AI isn't smarter, it just gets lots of buffs and stats
kinda disappointed since i'm so used to xcom and divinity 2 where hard mode means playing 4d chess
Compensating for the average 40k fan(me)
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I think BG3's Honour mode is a great way to do those sort of stuff
Plot armor eventually will save you
yeah because it's the same people who made divinity 2 which is an amazing game
I just set my game to god mode to feel that Iām him vibe.
turn based games really shine when the AI is what you're fighting
not some arbitrary roll of the dice
?
I wonder how rouge traders would be if you did real time combat like Dragon Age.
they must have amnesia
rogue trader is mostly dice rolling which i guess is what they were going for by implementing the tabletop rules
but i feel like it misses the mark a little due to how annoying tabletop rules can be when applied to a video game
See: Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous
It had a real time mode for dealing with trash hordes
this is just a personal pet peeve of mine. i enjoy when games test my tactics instead of how much i've min maxed my characters
I feel like there will probably be mods to crank AI Difficulty up before long
shining example of this would be into the breach funny enough
I don't really mind it but I get what you mean
Like the boss on Rykad
I surrounded him with 3 melee dudes
He kicked Abelard away
Walked towards him
triggered two attacks of opportunity
So he started walking back to retaliate
Which triggered another attack of opportunity from abelard
So he started walking back to retaliate
And triggered another two attacks
It took down like 3/4ths of his health lol
melee enemies seem to have extremely simple pathfinding. i dont think i've ever seen one do anything except hit the closest target
so all you have to do is put a warrior close enough and everybody goes on it
Give this man a raise.
maybe they'll fix AI in an update
LMFAOOO
gotta love the modern gaming industry
Owlcat tends to have post-launch support for years so here's hoping
i'd love if they made a second game mode that simplifies all the mechanics so im not doing mental gymnastics to figure out what thing to take when i level up
I agree one of the annoying parts of this game is trying to figure it out the numbers and mathematics but then again I play it like a ******* ape so i have gotten past this idea by brute forcing my way through
that's what i've been doing too
