im just gonna buy both
When should you use single shot over burst shot on a soldier?
When you're worried about shooting a teammate in the back of the head
If you can use burst fire you use burst fire
More accurate
Less ammo
Less actions
Also as larmoth said it’s safer if you can’t or don’t have the ability which makes teammates automatically dodge your shots
Also you can just
Handle position if possible
*positioning
I always keep a 3 tile area clear Infront of Argenta
If possible
Yeah Argenta and any others soldier are beasts at shredded the trash enemies
I bought a flamer from the traders at the starting location, and let me tell you, best purchase of my life
how come literally 0 games have figured out how to make the flamer not op and not dogshit
In rogue trader, does anyone know if you can recustomize your trader's appearance?
Do you mean like swapping origins and stuff
you can change appearance too
Could you tell me where/how?
when you create your character
Oh, i was asking if you can recustomize your trader
that's what i'm saying though?
your trader is your character
btw if the mods decide to show up it was not my idea to turn 40k-lore-chat into literally-rogue-trader-chat
Im confused. If im like 10 hours into the game, can i customize my trader again or am i stuck with the one i made at the start of the game?
Thats what i did ask lol
Here
hmm, youre right
can anyone help me with modding this game?
Rogue Trader i mean
I cannot get this mod manager to work at all
I don't have an owlcatgames directory, it goes steamapps/common/warhammer 40000 rogue trader
surely you would be better off asking in the appropriate places
such as, you know, the rogue trader discord
^
Wouldn’t be shocked if modding is a little funky too with the game being like
Two days old
There is a Steam mod manager for it, it just doesn't work right now, you'll have to either wait until it's patched or download a fix yourself
sad lass
are ogryn psykers a thing
Yes
cuz I swear I remember some ogryn psyker in a book
what book where they in?
Prophet of the Waagh iirc
Gauss Flayer
Gauss is the main Necron firearm
Yes
best part of this game is that you can go with any backstory you want to make up and it still will be canon due to the nature of Worlds that only recently join the Imperium due to only recently being conquested or stick to the more advertised Imperium worlds
The worlds that have not been discovered by the imperium yet or only recently joined have different cultures and it ranges to many types of theme
from cyberpunk like, modern world like, more fantasy theme, ancient civilization, and etc
Oh do you dislike Ridiculous?
of course the only recently joined ones are slowly going through the process of becoming more Imperium but that may take centuries
Did not expect that, honestly they are my main source for 40k lore lol
oof bad source
Theres another, very similar to ridiculous with two people, one being a noob aswell but yeah I mostly just listen to ridiculous when going to school or to my hema lessons.
I like the general overview and ease of access they give to factions and whatever
Honestly I enjoy their podcasts alot lol
that is mostly how Assassin characters work in most RPG
High damage rate but low on Defense and HP which is why they tend to depend on dodge more and tanks taunting enemies
I think Majorkill is fun too, but his videos are way too short and I dont have the energy to find a new vid every few minutes lol
Like god damn Id grind his videos so much if he only did 1h ones lol
doesn't this kind of lasgun needs to be plugged into a batterypack
I have it turned off to hide the cape
Fr
Tho tbf some of the 40K lore he covers, like, barely exists so it is understandable that some of his videos are short
yeah I mean I am not criticizing it.
I still watch him, but short form lore is just not viable for me when I try to prepare for fencing or sit in a bus.
Overall his content is great
Yeah, that's where I go to Adeptus Ridiculous for stuff if I am not looking for something specific
Abelard plays more like a fucking Eversor tbh if we’re picking an assassin. Dude may be prim and proper but he’s a fucking monster on the battlefield.
No it isn't that
It can pierce a hole through a dreadnought
You better be about to say a funny
Thats Gauss
Tachyon arrow?
its literally an atomic vaporizer
Bingo
If we’re taking pierce
Thanks
Yeah i think they got it mixed up
It’s just a “fuck you” gun
Humor is not my strongest thing
Yeah, Gauss would just like deatomize dread
Yeah its why i was confused
Eventually
^
Tho Major recently did a video on Valas Morovai (<3) so he got like +20rep from me lel
gauss can literally kill tanks
and like
most material tbh
you cant exactly resist against de-atomization
💀
Anything necrons related can kill anything lol
Just melt
It needs more concentration to properly work against bigger targets which is why bigger gauss weapons exist
My homies have no atoms so they are protected, wait, they don’t exist
You can see how it works pretty well in the 9e trailer
lmao
shoutout to that one background marine who gets hit in the fucking gut and just dies instantly
i posted gif above if anyone wanna see
I low how in KT most of Necrons gausses just straight up kills almost every humanoid human size
Also before I forget
In 2 hits mostly
Abelard is the best
💀
Based Noble Opinion
Mfw some lowly bred curr doesn’t know the newly instated Rogue Trader who didn’t even know he was part of this dynasty a day ago on sight
My favorite thing to do in an SS13 40K server is just play the Rogue Trader and act like a pompous prick to everyone
Being the Rogue Trader in a RT rpg is fun if the other players are down for it
And they can't do shit because I have everything to fuel their vices and uprisings
It do sound fun
I just need to convince my TTRPG group to run it
It’s really fun
I mostly played a Magos or Mekboy Ork
But I did have one game where I played a RT and it was kinda like that
Our Arch-Militant would carry me over dirty streets and stuff
I kinda miss the RT owning the colony on the 40K server, because being part of the guardsman retinue was also fun
Just being the expendable muscle they would throw at everything
Ah yes, casual Guardsmen sentry gaming
Indeed
I'd play a Krieger so it was a lot of mask staring at people
Nah Krieger’s are 50/50
I put a number in my name and respected the lore
Mostly because lots of stupid memes
I also made an effort to learn trenching
Also yeah to compare them with Cadians they are somewhat humane
Hell, I added most of the krieg drip and the grenadier into the server
They once fragged their own commissar while being on Vraks
💀
Also Kriegers protective gear makes sense
Cadians are either straight up incompetent new guys or dudes who will fly off the handle at a moments notice
I am talking about helmets and pauldrons
Ye
Cause like they are light carapace
And protect only parts of body that are exposed from trench
Artillery shrapnel does affect the head and shoulders the most
Cuz artillery will explode at head level basically
its less "all over"
its more that the writers got no idea how IRL military stuff works
This is
Super inaccurate
But the dude who was making Imperial Armour wasn't super off the mark when setting up the DK of Krieg
I'm talking about in the 40K server
Makes more sense
Ye
throws sand in face Here is your Cadia
The SS13 server is a roleplay thing so the Cadians act as a magnet to dudes who are new but know just a little about 40K
As a Krieg main, I am unmoved
As the era of Krieg is now here
All my homies are unknown Mechanised Regiment enjoyers or Penal Legion enjoyers

Lmao, fair
Underappreciated
I like the regiments that use Cadian gear but aren't Cadians
Yeah cause Cadian’s became just a standard
Their doctrine did but their doctrine is, like, the generic
Good artillery, emphasis on mechanized troops, integrated armor support
Imperial Navy Breachers have Kamikaze Servo-Skulls
Irl we don't use SPAA but the air side of 40K has always been weird
Called “Navy Man Last Laugh”
Which are made out of fallen Navy Breachers

What I like about DKoK is that they aren't entirely outdated either with their doctrine
And it makes sense for where they often end up
Krieg's way of warfare is extremely outdated.
they are sent to places where their doctrine will work
Nah uh
Not really. Entrenchment never went away

It did for the most part
Trench are my bellowed
trenches are useless when your enemies can use anything to bypass / kill everyone in it
It works with every single type of defence manoeuvre

The reason why we didn't see trenches used as much in the middle half of the 20th century was either because the terrain was unfavorable or because tech hadn't come far enough to make tanks the end all be all
Tell that to the fat nurgle daemon spilling over into it
💀
One of the reasons Vraks; Krieg's biggest engagement in lore; went as long as it did is trench warfare is stupid and both sides basically bogged themselves down to more or less nothing.
Trench Warfare is and always was needless and stupid.
It works to a point until it doesnt.
If they can smoke you out of trenches, you are probably dead
Eh, the majority of their enemies rely on 'big number = win' so it does actually work effectively.
It didn't though.
Krieg barely got any gains in that campaign
every time they did was due to outside factors

Referring to Vraks?
Like WW1
Because I'm referring to the overall, not just Vraks
And Vraks was a siege, so no duh
But like isolated entrenched positions
Cause like it’s the only way to take positions in a tree line
Which, just a reminder, Krieg took most of the actual planet quickly. It was the hive city that was an issue
Overall is the same, Krieg get sent to siege stuff because its what their thing is. If you put them in any other combat zone they are usually just useless since its not their specialty.
Yeah because the planet had nothing
it was literally just the bastion
its where all the armies went to focus on
Casual Departmento Munitorum Moment
Not really? Again, you are acting like entrenchment just isn't a thing outside of sieging down a hive city. You easily can rely on entrenched infantry and crewed weapons with heavy fire support just by making sure the air war is winnable
I mean yes really? Trench warfare has never been a good form of warfare, Vraks showcased it perfectly in general to begin with.
Khorne berserkers show up and oh no
we got nowhere to run in this trenchline
i guess we'll all get slaughtered

Its the same with sending human waves to capture opposing trenches too.
Just useless waste of life.
Which never made sense to me because charging a force heavily entrenched with layered defenses is what you don't do if you want to win
Because its a parody of WW1
Aka one of the most pointless conflicts in human history.
Those guys had plot armor, simple as
There is no waste of life
Nah, the Imperium is just stupid.
And that's not how WWI went
It more or less did.
Artillery, soften target up, rush across no mans land, get gunned down
Or make it to the other trench, take over, repeat.
Again, horrible waste of life. Pointless.
It’s all you left with
That wasn't an issue with trench warfare, that was an issue with breakthrough tactics
So make them count 💀
Most of trench warfare evolution was going from static line to static points of resistance
Armed with heavy weapons
Which the Krieg don't really fall victim to because unlike the forces of WWI, they actually have armor and air power
Covering their sectors of fire
Right, yeah
Whom interlink with one another
Covering the holes in defences

In WWII, things changed because air power was realized as a means of actually creating weak points, rather than the only option being either indirect fire or trundling a heavy tank formation through the enemy
Cause like in 40K you don’t really need full size trench line going both ways for thousand of kilometres
You just need strong point
Enough heavy weaponry on it and that’s all
Yep
You just basically cut off places where to advance for your enemy via
Range of your multi-lasers, heavy bolters
Las Cannons
And such
That's why I don't see Krieg as fighting ineffectively, because they do have armor and air power to force the enemy to fight where it'd be shittiest for them. The doctrine utilizes cavalry (not just horsies) to skirmish and lock down enemy formations with blocking attacks for foot mobiles to setup proper positions
Maybe if they have an armour regiment with them
They do have access to armor
And if the aeronautica feels like helping them
They even have baneblades for whatever reason
Yeah but
Not every regiment is the same
There's ones with armour, with inf, ones with both, ones with artillery
Yeah, genius strategy when you leave regiment with only one type of stuff
It's not really you leaving them
I mean, they have the capability of deploying multiple regiments to one place
They literally are known for shitting out regiments like that
Imperial beaurocracy just loves throwing around people randomly
💀
Sure if everything goes right you'll have a cohesive Krieger battle group with the whole nine yards
One of thousands
You can tell because of their "glorious" track record
Ready yourself to be beaten
I am joking

YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM THE TRUTH
Yeah I refer to it as siege warfare
digging trenches is not what they regularly do
That's why I was talking about 'entrenched troops' rather than 'trench warfare'
I mean, out of the multiple named campaigns, several of them are in this 3-4 group style deployment so it is safe to assume a good chunk are designed that way
Muh shovel lore tho
I just hope we see more animations with them so I can see them dying more
Mfw the official animation of Krieg in action features no trenches, artillery, or melee combat with shovels
That why I opt for Blooded (Traitor Guard)
a human skull sure
MINES
No duh, I just find it funny how it coincidentally lacks everything memed about Krieg
It had gasmask noises
Well they are good without it
or I guess an entrenching tool
Also yeah
Fair
Tell that to 40K fans
veteran guardsmen is the second biggest killteam
You could just swap minis for whom you want them to be
but if you go double gaunts you're stupid ngl
💀let’s not talk about compendium
They are strange abominations of their former self
By that I mean of original Kill Teams
Except for Nids
Cause they didn’t have one
Going a bit more in perception skill in Rogue trader really helps in my personal choice playthrough. My Rogue Trader can easily spot lies and a person's behavior for clues
same thing honestly
trench warfare is just seige warfare but more modern
the trench lines in ww1 where basically inversed castle walls
im having a stroke i cant remember what that imperium govermenting chart is called
hierarchy tree thats what it was lol
Does anyone know if you keep resetting you skills, will it start to cost profit factor or is it always 0?
in rogue trader that is
It's been 0 for me and I've done it multiple times
alright, cool. thx
I've confirmed that you can infact get multiple ships
I'm always getting out maneuvered so where can I buy some?
being surrounded is getting annoying
Which planets have you gotten
From the bottom right of the navigator map to the homeworld of my dynasty
You want the shield of the emperor or filth of koronus project on Dargonus
i like shield of the emperor
Extra protection so that my world doesn't get raided by something
What if the eldar souls absorbed by slaanesh after death is a good thing. Like it takes care of you and remembers to tickle your anus like twice a week before torture
…found the cultist

I think it's mentioned that it's not a pleasant experience
Who's they

i need to find a picture for my psyker rogue trader that doesnt suck or appear to be sexually explicit imagery (is this ok automod)
Darktide concept art
always goes for the Protection of the Emperor
unless you want to go Heretical playthrough
Finally started playing without my mods T-T
Is there a way to ||get Cassia to come willingly/with the consent of the House|| because honestly I just started blasting as soon as I arrived
You can still get her after doing that
Oh no trust me I got her
Bro you can get her that way by being peaceful in negotiations
After I have done what Falek told me to do
i proceeded to shoot him and just grab cassia peacefully
I was asking for a navigator, not permission
i googled darktide psyker concept art and within 10 results was a fanart with huge breasts
Her mentor is very old and only ask you to get her peacefully and protect her which I promise and I got her to peacefully come with me
did you just take her?
I mean
||I killed Falek instantly, made the Rod and then just walked up to her and talked nicely then she came with me no problem.||
There wasn't anyone to stop me by the time I got to her
Yeah I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be able to get a rod off a body but it didn't work for some reason
I think it's was actually Feleks' rod?
||Yeah I did that||
i had to see what he wanted to do he speaks a little rough on the edges
And then I decided to unload a couple of rounds and a melee weapon directly to his skull
I want to do the puzzle right but I'll give it another crack when I get my mods
I must have missed a note or something
I'm basically considering this playthrough a dry run for when I really play the game
||You grab the notes around the map and you question the dude Infront of the elevator until he folds, if you keep pushing he'll turn on you and you can talk it out with the others and leave with cassia no biggie||
Oh I didn't know there was a dude in front of the elevator
He must have died before I really noticed him
yeah things like this are what makes exploring and really looking around the place really worth it
You can gather some things to make negotiation easier or a new weapon
My rogue trader got a Thunder hammer this way
Do you still get to loot the place if you do things peacefully
My goal in the first part of the game is to convert as many lives as possible into profit for a strong start
Hit tab when you have every opportunity to see if you miss anything if your characters have especially high stats and finding hidden stashes that glow purple you can hit the big jackpot
And yes I'm pretty sure you can still loot the place
google it with "Miguel Iglesias"
he does good shit

I remember doing that by chance since I am on my first playthrough and have Idira provides extra dialogues
That aside and speaking of companions....
Pasqal is just a must have companion
his unique story events as a Tech priests helps greatly with repairing machines and his armor he has when starting out is so useful with it's passive to boost armor based on Tech skill that you'll never need to replace his armor unless you find a better version of it.
Main Character does not get the special ability to fully repair machines so without Pasqal, you'll spend most of the time depending on your logic and tech skill to tell you which unreadable machine option is the right one
Is Pasqal a better tank than Abe
no since he is more of a DPS debuffer
My tech skill is probably overkill so I don't really need him for that
no
Abe is just a natural tank
though I am not certain if you may lose him if you go Heretical route
Did someone @ me?
since he is a Imperium character
Pas is incredibly good at being able to not only debuff the enemies but also provide your backline with some support fire thanks to his ability to carry two handed weapons no problem
I don't need a tech guy or a negotiator, I need good fighters
you'll miss a lot of goods and secrets if you do not have a tech skill person in your team
My trader is the tech gal
I'm not even out of the first area and I think my tech skill is 65 rn
i leave all the tech work to Pas
i'm the one who is in the frontline and bashing skulls
his axe is great since it has a large AoE attack
She just ended up being built that way tbh, I wanted a forge world character and they have a trait that means they can solve most problems by dumping points into INT
Pas can also be a good Plasma Rifle sharpshooter as well
he has alot of potential to be a offensive DPS Debuffer due to his high armor thanks to his armor passive for more armor with more tech skill
Yep and arm him with a good range weapon and your set
I put my points into INT, AGI, and ballistics so my rogue trader is the skill monkey and the shooter
not to mention Pas has Forge world skills which means his can get the passive to convert Plasma, Melta, and Power weapons damage with INT stats
then later get Know it all passive as a exemplar to gain a massive DPS and Defense boost since it converts INT stats to provide armor, ignore armor, crit chance, crit damage, hit chance, and dodge rate.
At least I can handle the strength work
ya you will be smacking hard with melee but I am assuming you atleast have some defense ability such as decent dodge or Armor rate/HP
Yeah I think I'm my party's Pasqal
My character is a vanguard so even if he gets hit he will absolutely dumpster the ******
He is also good at parrying stuff
He can take a punch from a forge fiend and keep going
I gave Abe the trinket that makes you tougher if you're dumb
and i can also lay down some suppressive fire at least with this Lovely thing
I don't really need to be good at Ballistics if I can just pull the trigger and aim at the general direction now do I
Heinrix is not bad once you get to know him since he is basically a Inquisitor in training.
He has yet to determine what kind of Inquisitor he will become yet
No I want the Lord Inquisitor to have an accident
oh him
well as they say "Always expect a inquisitor to make things worse"
I can't have a higher authority just running around in my trade empire
It's unbecoming
You trade empire by contract is meant to only serve the Imperium
What God doesn't know won't hurt him
It is why we always read the fine print
I want to play the loyal moralities, but if I have to dip into hereticus a bit to secure my totalitarian regime, well, that's how the cookie crumbles
Also yo I was not expecting the warrant of trade to be so large. Like, I know emps was a big dude, but come on guys
My rules are simple: Cassia and Argenta get everything they ask for, and so do I
well he did literally have to write a entire very thick book worth of rules in it.
I honestly can imagine the Emperor just sitting in his room think about the long list of rules he needs to write in it while hand writing the original first warrant of trade just to make certain it does not always back fire.
So I’m wondering. If some doom guy type being was unleashed into the warp and was solely tasked with killing all the demons inside, could they? Like if you beat some changer of ways head in with his own book in the warp do they stay down for good?
Not unless they have some macguffin bullshit which lets them
Chaos always be on they bullshit smh
Does doom guy count as a name
But that's basically what Kal Drago or whatever does tbh
Unless you are the actual Doomguy no
in his case his suit literally absorbs the souls of the stuff he kills, so true deaths for everyone

That’s based
Revampled Doom lore is more metal than 40k at times thats all ill say lol
And its still not as wanky as most 40k lore trust me

Yeah GW wanks space marine so much you can fill an entire bucket with them
Kaldor Draigo, about the entire Primarch cast, the Emperor, etc
Doomguy just resonates with people more because he's basically at the end of the day a man fighting against immeasurable odds.

Hes great.
I do love how when he gets locked up in the final DLC, the priests go
"May we never need you again."
metal as hell
Doomguy when he got stuck in Hell for Years
actually it does line up huh

All demons had to do was leave daisy, his rabbit, alone
What is the darkest thing in 40k lore
I think I just heard the worst but I wanna know what other people think
Is it the Daemonculaba
aka the most unoriginal thing ever in 40k
Yep
Yeah guessed it
It's just dark to be dark
And I thought being a servitor was bad
Fortunately for you it gets pretty much darker than that
Yay
I'm just saying
We should probably check on the mental state of whoever wrote that
Okay random one since its so grimdark its funny; the Imperium has industrial grade furnaces to incinerate newborns if they are found to have mutations, which, may I add, may include stuff as basic as just being too pale

I'm pale
is that why my chicken tasted weird
as long as you don't get political about it sure
Aka a certain man from ww2
god knows the arguments we've gotten with that
Orks used to have stormtroopers as jetpack troops
I've noticed how veteran armor is literally the same lmao
They literally have stalmhelms
Or whatever it is
Nah the stahlhelm is for like one cosmetic from the shop
Darth Vader would be proud
yeah warhammer borrows a lot of Aesthetics they just either straight up rip off or modify a little to fit the gothic sci-fi of the setting
the cadian helmet is "generic sci-fi helmet"
Ig that's true
That's why I love it lol
Plus I love the shock affect
I like terrifier for a reason
Art the Clown my beloved
Real
Well, Shit

well glad at least someone is happy
"Ew it's Irish"
Yeet
Closest thing you'll get to "actually Doomguy" in 40k is Tuska Daemonkilla
He led a waaaagh! into Khornes realm and Khorne basically keeps him as a pet and keeps him in a neverending gladiator match with daemons (which hypothetically means he's fuckin huge now)
Huh Rouge Trader has workshop support, this is gonna be good
It does?
Well
I'm going to finish the game un modded first to get that experience tied down
I hope modders go ALL OUT like expansion size mods in the future
yeah, let's start a galaxy wide war with every race involved. that's the perfect plan to stop chaos which came to be a problem because of a galaxy wide war with every race involved.
humanity reaped what it sowed with the men of iron
intelligent and self aware machines seem to mainly hate their creators when their creators treat them as disposable garbage
I rather dismiss a bad fan theory as a bad fan theory
factions that treat their AI with respect seem to have better working relationships with them
the obvious example is the votann, but to break kayfabe a little with the mechanicus, the AI they revere as machine spirits don't go on omnicidal rampages
If we don't treat our AI as pets or friends why even make them
we have to love our creations if we want them to love us back
i wonder if there's some sort of lesson to be learned there
probably not
anyway back to making pipe bombs
they made them too good multipurpose swiss knives and now they just mutilate humans to make them focus a single task. less complicated, less dangerous. and we say imperium doesn't learn from their mistakes
well that all happened before the imperium
some colonies figuring out how to coexist with ai make it seem like imperium suffered from the revolt a bit more than a few others
I hate corporatism
again, the imperium did not exist during the AI rebellion
Yea the AI rebellion was like 23rd-25th millennia
Atleast five thousand years before the Imperium

we're so back
LETS GOOO
is it normal for a single tech-priest/technoarcheologist such as Hadron to be given this much responsibility in the Imperium? given that Hadron oversees all weapon modification/maintenance rituals for all operatives, documents all debriefing reports, is solely responsible for the data interrogation aspect of missions - including those headed by her colleagues - and further undertakes to spearhead missions with herself at the helm of operations.
I'm gonna sound stupid if im wrong but could old box Dreadnoughts have there weapons changed?
Yes.
Theres a lot more techpriests we don't see on the forefront its not just Hadron. She just has operational management at times of certain parts of the campaign.
You can see it in her cutscene
There's a big ol hole leading down to the armoury wherea bunch of them are fixing things
Is it a bad idea for a psyker to be an Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus?
I mean it’s probably gonna end in a terrible death
Ordo Malleus sucks to be in
But no
They probably have the most psykers
Interesting
Force weapons, kine shields, and wards are good against daemons
But if I had to pick Ordo Malleus is by far the worst one to join.
All of them can suck
All of them can encounter daemons
But Malleus basically only shows up for major warp events
Is the amount of players the OM has due to the grey knights?
So to be clear I don’t think we know they have more
Just what we tend to see them be psykers
But Inquisitors have a higher rate of psykers than most orgs already
That being said, it’s more for the same reason
Psykers trained properly can do well against daemons
I see
Would it make sense for inquisitors for the OM to be doing underground detective type work to eliminate heretical cults when a major event isn't happening or would another section of the inquisition be handling that?
They could but typically they’re more “balls to the wall” kinda dudes
Hereticus and Xenos tend to be more subtle
Although it all varies of course
They’re massive organizations with vastly different factions within
All inquisitors can choose their way of operating.
Inquisitors were made with an RPG mindset in mind ala D&D
anything you think is sensible for them to do, they can do it
its why they got so much freedom, its half the reason for homebrew and game scenarios
Never forget that the first named Inquisitor in 40k was called Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau
Was he the 1st ?
Not the first Inquisitor in like the canon history, but the first named Inquisitor they wrote about in the OG Rogue Trader book in the 80s
yeeee
Was this the guy with the yinyang symbol that literally meant nothing in the context of the 40k universe?
Lmao yeah
who would win a halo spartan or a space marine
Yes.
in what context
next question
1v1
true...
like if they're both completely naked the Marine would argaubly have an advantage
its not a bone headed question
like for example a space marine would demolish doom slayer
Lmao not in a million years
because power scaling is dif between settings
power scaling is poison on the mind
there's so many factors to this
it could realistically go either way
In physical abilities space marines have more and their armor provides more ability, but the fight is a gunfight and masterchief has a shield of nebulous power
tripping
think about the kind of things space marines are expected to fight and win against in small companies of like 50 dudes
Do you even know who Doomguy is
duh
Doom slayer is a Saitama type character
And the Doomslayer kills literal titan sized demons.
which is arguably as destructive as Plasma in 40k
compared to in game where the halo plasma pistol tickles you lol
He has unlimited reserves of strength to tap into whenever the narrative demands
^
This is like asking who would win One Punch man or [insert character here].
Saitama is literally the parody of a Mary Sue Protagonist, he wins every time.
mmmm lightly seared human flesh
a brutes favorite
The doom guy is just a guy with guns who's angry though
Yep.
Also hes written to be virtually unbeatable.
again, Stan Lee's quote remains absolute lol
YOU ARE HUEG
tbh they also tickle the marines npc
tbh they just tickle everyone
yeah its gameplay =/= lore
but lore accurate halo would be bullshit to play lol
what kind of goofy plasma is that
I think i conflate "YOU ARE HUGE THAT MEANS YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS" with "XBOX HUEG" for some reason
faster plasma, it hurts like 10x more
For example Grunts are basically useless in gameplay.
Lore grunts meanwhile literally tear into UNSC marines with their hands
💀
Halo reach grunts
halo reach and infinite still the only halo games where the enemy is remotely dangerous lol
imagine dying to something that sounds like a toy
The halo novels are like a fun microcosm of the black library
where the AI isn't smart, everything just does 10 morbillion damage lol
space marine would win against a spartan
just saying
This depends on a variety of factors
^
what are they armed with
theres no absolute
Can space marines tank a spartan laser? Who knows?
funny eldar rifle
I haven't played halo since 4 came out did the laser one shot scorpions?
like if you give the Spartan an AR and the Marine a boltgun the marins prolly gona win
actually theyre equal
surely going to win
laser oneshot every single destroyable vehicle
Elephant supremacy
Spartans are also basically Tempestus Scions with diet space space marine treatment.
yeah
Even worse parental issues
Master chief can flip the elephant he's clearly unimaginably strong
would only scratch the ceramite

space marines still get gunned down by bolter fire
You know
spartans have energy shields
If you were a real not fake fan
theyve tanked hits from sentinel beams
MP Spartans are wack 💀
The better question is, who could chug more milk a Spartan or a Space Marine?
Space marines have absurd tolerances
they can breath the milk
yeah space marines
Hes the main character so he can only be stronger... 2 elephants
They’d win a lot of drinking contests
space marines biologically have an advantage over spartans
Kinda
Spartans are also immune to alcohol poisoning
most space marines organs are mostly useless
as far as we know lol
remember how they can spit acid
but they barely use this
unless the author remembers

That’s for breaking down food mostly
Nah
The acid is a nice bonus
The acid spit is just the most obvious example and it sounds cooler
TBH if I was a BL author I would not include that fact even if I remembered it
The only ones who know about it are fist successor authors so they can say they don't have it lol
They’re mostly there for redundancy anyways
I also remember uhhh
one doctor making a realistic looking space marine right
and hes like
"Oh he has acid spit?"
its like a last resort
The combat applications are a nice bonus
Space marines can eat peoples brains to learn knowledge
But they can’t keep the acid spit in for long or else obviously it’s not fun
is it actually super acidic
Which is why it’s activated in short bursts
LMAO
Scifi Writers Dont Understand Acid
It’s not designed to be in their mouths for extended periods of time
Also this
WE GET IT
Well yeah but it’s like how we have stomach acid which fucks up our insides
But it’s designed to work for our body
you expect authors to understand this fact 💀
Presumably the organ has a mucosal system that's not large enough to keep up when active and full
The funny thing is the layout and idea for basically all the organs hasn’t changed much at all since marines first introduction
They can choose when to activate it and when not to
Yes
yeah because 40k writers dont know how biology works
like
they just have these because it sound scool
lmao
40k doesnt understand how evolution works or biology in general
Have you seen Ogryns?
science fantasy™️
I mean if you have goofy biotech ability like the Imperium has it’s not really that silly, obviously you have to hand wave some stuff but, it makes sense for its purpose
Like yeah it’s not realistic
In earlier editions high gravity made both ogryns and squats
Or how Catachan are suppose to be the "apex" of human evolution in a normal sense when gigachad muscle structure has nothing to do with being a peak hunter
if you want that look at some of the modern tribes of African people who are long na'vi looking folks
I mean, they do help at the very least
The optimal, most evolved human in 40k is a psyker ogryn
But itd probably best to have a better aerobic/anaerobic muscle adaption where fight or flight works more efficiently with less moments of tiredness
Long distance running for hunting and running from predators is likely the best thing for Catachan
You could spec-evolve the acid gland in an animal pretty easy i think? They would always keep it full like a little stomach for defense
It would basically be a secondary stomach with a mucous lining that develops a pore
That's all you really need
You could even use it for predigestion
Also unrelated but
was playing L4D2, some of my teammates grabbed laser sights
I see this thing poking from my side
and my Darktide PTSD kicked in

"Sniper SNIPER!!"
Uh oh were talking about acid it's time to shill Spears of the Emperor again
oh god
Not necessarily, catachan is a jungle world, running at full speed through it is probably how you step on a catachan coconut
Perfect 40k novel all I'm saying
ADB likes to use the less mentioned organs in his books a lot
Like he brings up the sus membrane keeping a BA active during the siege without any proper sleep
Yes if you're not careful, but considering these are the jungle fighters, Im sure they're already prepared for such dangers.
Doing the “shut down parts of the brain at a time” thing
the sus membrane yes
Iirc he’s mentioned the llarraman’s ear before for something

Sussy baka membrane....
Well the point is that jungle hunting and traversal is about stalking through the undergrowth and being able to overpower prey in a quick and decisive ambush
I used to say to friends he has a bet with BL authors that he can use each organ or have it mentioned in a book
Yeah but the acid gland is brought up super early so that later in the book ||when Amadeus is critically injured he can keep burning himself with his own drool because he can't close his mouth, and they need serfs with metal augmetics to clean his face and chest or he'll dissolve himself||
writers seem to forget or ignore what marines are capable of a lot of time
Speed and endurance aren’t the be all end all like plains hunting
Absolutely, I agree, but if in cases an ambush fails, those fighters do need the cardio to be able to get away quickly and reposition
It very much changes from place to place and people to people too
The larraman’s ear for example is supposed to be able to tune out static in a broadcast to make comms more clear.
its why the "peak" human form is not a muscle-arnold schwarzenegger looking man
Also the breathing underwater thing gets forgot a lot
What do you mean, the sigma male body building raw meat diet videos Ive been watching arent showing me peak male fitness?!?!
cardio is THE thing that gave us a lot of evolutionary advantage and steroid muscles aren't great for it

It also reminds me of this picture
each of these women are the top in their fields of sport
the body difference is uncanny

Well, we can at least give it to the Catachans for looking real good while hunting and/or ambushing
"Trampoline" is a sport?

Yeah gymnastics
Of course the real point of the catachan look is to look like Arnold in predator
Best gymnasts are always smol
I link the TBSkyen video where he talks about this constantly when I bitch about how bad female character design is
So often its insane
Yeah thats where I got it from
and tbh hes right
im tired of hourglass looking women
lmao
Like game designers legit do not understand female body diversity at all
That’s from a times photo shoot I think
Yep
LEGIT
She's standing next to these Greek goddesses and she golfs
I can relate to that part 💀
You should watch some trailers for the first descendant
Real honestly
There's this quote I saw a while ago that stuck with me
"I rarely meet men in real life as extraordinary as ones on film, and rarely see women on film as extraordinary as ones I know in real life" and like, yeah
ikr
Shes so light.... back in my peak days, I was 185 Ibs
I think that's why I got so obsessed with Arcane bc like, people like Sevika and Ambessa are like, real ass humans, and they're not scared to make them a little masculine or gritty or dare I say....competent
to be fair since we are talking in the context of fantasy, function and diversity are secondary behind aesthetic appeal
Reminds you of a person you might actually meet and not just someones imaginary GF
Its still important imo
like Mei in Overwatch is a short chubby chinese girl instead of a supermodel and people go nuts over her

Yeah look Ambessa may have brought out permanent change in me
Real or we've started getting tiny W's like have you seen Betty La Bomba in Paladins?
Also current day folks seem to really like muscular women so Idk I think GW should push for that a bit you know
The gymnast is 97 pounds
Does the astra militarum treat ogryns nicely
no
She's unapologetically THICC
Tbf overwatch, the only point the franchise has left is for people to go “nuts” over the characters
Kinda
and not in like an unrealistic way
Much like one treats a pet dog well
Me when I see Ambessa takes that twink with him to the brothel te moment she steps onto land from her ship:
Bro I look a little too much like that twink dude for comfort it seemed targeted
Depends what you mean by nice
Ogryns are basically tricked into service by being stupid and uneducated
It’s better than a lot of Ogryn jobs
people forget a lot that they are more or less auxillary-slave soldiers lol
Not to mention their child-like innocence and intelligence
It’s still pretty brutal but it does fit the bill for what Ogryns are good at often and often they are well liked by the regiment they’re with because they’re useful as fuck
But it’s basically child soldiers
So idk, it’s better than a lot of alternatives for Ogryns but it’s still fucked obviously
They at least can make friends with their fellow soldiers
And its not a completely isolating existence
Commissars consider Ogryn duty to be easy mode since they’re fairly easy to lead
And they consider you VIP number one
Do you think the ratlings sometimes get under the ogryns feet like a cat and the ogryn steps on their foot and then picks up the ratling and gives him kisses and apologies like they accidentally hurt a kitten
no the ratling just fucking dies
Very good description ngl
I think I want you to be under my foot when put it up your ass
I love how enslaving incredibly powerful beings bc they're just too dumb and wholesome to know any better can unironically be argued as an overarching theme of 40k
Lmao
yeah a lot of people are like "uwu ogryns are so cute"
yeah they are literally indoctrinated you dumbass

well the og minis sure aren't cute
Commissars do seem to enjoy Ogryn duty and there’s multiple examples of them being very loyal to their Ogryns so idk
I just want a real ogryn faction to change up that opinion

Please GW real Ogryn faction.....
Ogryn kids are also roughly human sized
So they naturally are protective towards humans
Thats terrifying
ogryn faction, limited to one planet because too stoopid for space travel
Imagine an adult sized baby
They have multiple places they’re from
They’ve spread out so much
Not completely! Grey Ogryns are rumored to be very smart but incredibly rare.
As someone who's only temptation to play guard is running meme no-vehicle lists of infantry and ogryn I am intrigued
Dilara have you seen the thread on the verm subreddit about the Javelin rebalance ?
I mean, you could easily create a mawtribes mirror with ogryn
I just meant the potential ogryn faction not the ogryns themselves
Oh yeah
Ogryn space travel is they put Gronk in a box, then Grokk, Grink, and Grosh throw the box as hard as they can
Strawberry slowly losing their mind 💀
ogryns don't know you can't breathe in space
I can help with that
Honestly, my headcanon for Ogryn space travel is them hijacking whatever ship they get their hands on and crashing it into other planets
LOL
This includes old tech ships
They just got found by the Imperium one day
This is me but replace "ship" with "cars".
Ah yes, the GTA travelling experience
LMAO
God imagine a planet preparing for the incoming Ork fleet and when the ships start landing (violently impacting the surface of the planet) a bunch of chaos Ogryn come out
Are we pretending like this isn't a universe where Ogryn could canonically hold their breath and think real hard about pleasing the emphrah and just freefloat through space until they hit atmosphere
also if you want to know what 30k was like firsthand go play GTA Online
