but if the inquisiton guy is a heretic that will be the most funny thing ever
trust me hes too much of a dickhead to be a heretic
you've seen one guy like Rannick you've seen em all
Maybe the real Traitor's Curse were the Moebian 21st Regiment cosmetics we received along the way
Obese Megalodon why
Swollen selachian, how could you?

why is there a Constant Margrave and a Lord Constance Margrave? is this some GRRM elden ring naming convention shenanigans? why do this, beeg feesh?
constant is the sister and constance is the lord moebian, maybe? Pretty sure it's 2 different people and not a typo. I'm just banging rocks together like a cave man with these items lol
I've seen a few item description typos but none have been mispellings, so far
Yeah its mostly typos, i dont think they'd get a detail like that wrong?
I wish i could say you could ask an author but im not really sure who was behind this
Sarah Cawkwell whos a BL writer and on our mod team said most of this stuff was spread amongst the 7 authors.
I'll invoke the power of whoever I must for this obscure detail in my nerd universe
Im gonna try just incase she knows something when shes around
Better you than me, it's on items Combat Blade (Moebian Parade) and Soldier's Punishment Uniform w/ the only items naming any Moebians at all. I don't want to bring up the luetin video lol
@dry epoch Hey Sarah sorry for the ping but you are like the only ex-BL(ish) person we can contact for this sort of stuff, was any of you charged with doing stuff for Atoma Prime/Moebian Domain lorewise or was that all Abnett's territory and you guys were just given the duty of doing dialogue and other stuff instead of coming up with stuff like the lore tidbits Fatshark puts on cosmetics?
Rabs here above is doing a encylopedia in the hopes that they can upload these to the Lexicanum one day so just trying my luck to see if you know anything about it

And now we wait

I'm gonna double check these things in game to make sure I'm not just raving mad
All good
What is the same equivalent of Christmas in the 40kverse
i think the only thing they share is a calender square tho
alright so I guess the Soilder's Punishment set is probably an unreleased penance set. Maybe being released in the next patch's sets for Carnval part 2? idk anyways..
behold, the only 2 named Margraves (I think..)
Does the emperor have like
A helmet
For his armor
Like how space marines and primarchs have helmets
Incase he like
Needs to breath
Gilliman disagrees lol
dude was fighting in the void without a helmet just by holding his breath lol
Does he have an air bubble in his suit or something
The emperor i mean
Also
How big is the golden throne room
Like
while the emperor is never(?) shown in a helmet i imagine most of the art we see is like, paintings from descriptions
however people not wearing helmets even when they REALLY should is a 40k trademark
no he was just that pissed. and he would have died if he had stayed out there too long
Is it the size of a city
the golden throne room is very large, even if you dont count the machinery
the room itself is big enough for hundreds of custodes but the machinery below it is city sized
primarch size?
like 14 feet iirc
bigger lol
What even is that
So can someone gimme a straight answer for the size of the room
i dont think we have dimensions specifically
By the throne
maybe a sports arena
and then the golden throne is connected to machinery much bigger than that
all we know is the gate that leads to the room is flanked by 2 warhound titans
And he's not even a God (not yet atleast from what I've heard)
weeeeeelllll
Is he that ginormous
Now I'm imagining him crouching down talking to the lil guardsmen
he didnt always look like that tho.
he could make himself smaller
think of the big golden dude as a battle form
or it might be his true form
the emperor is definitely teetering on the threshold of godhood though, especially at this point in the lore
the starchild is back
I'm surprised humanity managed to keep him alive after all them centuries
Especially after the horus heresy
Then again humanity finds a way to advance technology
the emperor is definitely a god id say
he has his own demons and that stuff he pulled with gman and nurgles garden
like yeah
hes a god for sure
his own daemons? do you mean the legion of the damned?
that and stuff like saint Celestine
he does seem to be manifesting champions
i think he's still on the pre-ascension end of the teeter totter
just because it seems like something's gonna happen soon
Empy is pretty active in plague wars and dark imperium, he sends dreams to Felix, guillimans advisor, telling him to find him(the Saint), he also possesses someone in the presence of sister of silence, even causing a custodes to question that the anathema was his master, looking upon the custodes. “In her face burned golden eyes as old as time, and from mouth sprang the luminance of a star”, I wonder what he’s doing now, should probably get the newer books to see if he’s around🤔
I wonder whatll be like fighting a plague marine as a boss in darktide
If your in a guants ghost novel you probably just kill him with a detpack necklace.
If your in lord of silence you ded
Like before you even enter the room
Okay okay
Another question
Are plague ogryns unkillable or can they actually be killed killed
Nothing is unkillable
They are mutated ogryns. They won't be banished to warp like daemons.
yeah
Chaos spawn, plague ogryn > not daemon, beast of nurgle > daemon
Beasts of Nurgle are demons though
Oh wait I can't read right
thanks brain
On the unkillable thing, GW has a really stupid way of describing things
So almost every single thing ends up as "can barely be hurt" while simultaneously "can rip through hardiest foes with ease"
Balanced like dota 2
Nurgle troops are generally more resilient due to being Infested to hell and back but they're far from unkillable
the balance is just whatever the hell the current author wants lol
No one is all the way unkillable in the setting really
Even chaos gods theoretically can be killed
Even god tier warp entities can get torn to pieces though that's kinda recoverable maybe
However the problem with that is noone knows wtf would happen, even chaos gods themselves
What about vulkan
Can be killed permanently with specific tools
There's a whole book about him almost getting assassinated
Fair
perpetuals can be killed but it's extremely difficult
Even Lucius, the badly written, can be murdered if he gets the Horus treatment
you just have to blow up their whole ass soul usually which is more or less what you do to a daemon with holy artifacts or immense psychic power
Most perpetuals we know of have died
i think Grammaticus and Pius are still running around probably
Malcador, Erda, Damon
Grammaticus isn’t a perpetual anymore
And Pius imo will almost certainly die in the last siege book but we’ll see of course
"For a bit"
He got it back
Is vulkan gifted the most or what
So yeah
just normal Warhammer stuff, where wacky shit happens all the time
It’s complicated but Grammaticus sacrificed his to give Vulkan his back and yeah a lot of stuff happened
It’s Kyme books though so
Oh ic ic
It’s sucks and the important thing is none of it really matters
people think perpetuals are the next stage in human evolution when it's obviously ogryn
why dont the emperor just stand up, is he stupid?
Perpetual Ogryn
Lorgar and the word bearers are basically the only csm actually fighting like space marines, thinking back on it
With them summoning daemons every 5 seconds they basically have the same elite-grunts relationships loyalists have, except with daemons instead of fleshlight joes
his legs don't work that well
He got glued to the throne
just use some vinegar and baking soda
Can't wait until 40k end times when they put big E in a dreadnought
Most CSM fight like marines still tbh, with a few exceptions
But the vast majority are just basic marines
Gifted ones aren’t as common
Please
The emperor is already too big
Iron Warriors and Night Lords sometimes aren’t as corrupted although plenty still are
How are they gonna fit him in
Eeeh they tend to not have the supply lines to actually have grunts
With the exception of the IW and TS I guess
Have you seen him lately? He lost a lot of weight
Knight-sized boxnought
Death guard, some World Eaters, IW, some current Night Lords, Black Legion, Red Corsairs
All have supply lines and the like
Emphasis on the some, but ig with the primarchs back it helps yeah
It’s not the primarchs they’ve always had them
And true for them but red corsairs are barely chaos
Fair but they are the grunts
Now thats a funny nickname for dreadnoughts
I think I'll use it
Last time I checked, red corsairs were black legion lite
Boxnaught
boxnaughts are jsut the casteferrum ones i think
They don't fight like marines with rapid insertion and shit, they just waddle upfield
Red Corsairs are the biggest non legion warband behind the Black Legion
They do, if they can
They just take advantage of their durability
As far as I’m aware, the core story belongs to Dan. My bit was all dialogue (and the surprisingly fun task of creating the cultist language).
They’re a little slower but they still fight like marines
That's how I see it but I'm not gonna be pedantic about it
Aw they're actually a real thing in the 40kverse?
Although they will abuse their chaos gifts when they can
Dammit
Which is all CSM really
Nah it's just that the castaferrum is very boxy
They all fight like marines mostly just playing to their strengths
they're not called that in universe but its the ones that look like this
Cute lil fellas
That's not really shown in the books
To be clear, them having unique fighting styles is dope, but they mostly fight like they don't have grunts behind them, imo
The best noughts
Right ? Imagine a golden one but knight sized and with titan weapons
They often fight independently of them
? That's just not true
Marines always have the guard somewhere at the very least and half of all chapters shown carry a pet regiment somewhere
CSM are pretty different from loyalist marines in that they’ll have normies they use combined with their forces as cannon fodder on the regular
Sometimes yes but they’re not a part of their forces
they technically can’t even command them
Although that’s a big technically
i think the most common arrangement is that chapters get attached to crusades
We see chapters plenty of times operate completely separate from guard in the same fight
Depends, marines can actually lead humans in a "I'm the oldest officer around" way when on field, and in a "you literally see me as a demigod" informally
Or completely independent
Yeaaa eh
That’s why I mean by technically
space marines are usually doing different tasks than the guard
That's a huge technically then, but aight
Obviously depending if a marine gives you an order it’s often in your best interest to listen
Yea
I mean it’s an important distinction
If its the emperor I wouldn't find it adorable but I'd love to hear some boxnaughts yell out "for the emperor" while running towards the xenos/heretics
Because CSM straight up command large armies of normal humans
They waddle it's so cute
While marines cannot
The tyrant guard though
At best they take temporary control of warzones
Legion size 30k, they act like proper army force. Chapter size, small force doing their own missions.
Yes
During the GC all imperium forces would be integrated or work under one banner too or one crusade force
Not nearly as much separation of powers
Yea ik
But they tend to have a regiment or two around to actually do the heavy lifting
Even if they don't technically have a direct line of command, marines just work best supported
I love how they couldn't thought of a grimdark type of name so they went with boxnaught
Sure but my point is CSM typically fight more like marines during the GC than loyalist do
Technically it's called the castaferum class dreadnought but that's long and slow
War
Loyalists deploy more as independent shock troops
Yeah, that's my point
War isn't a living thing
Or spear tips, whereas CSM deploy their normal humans and work in concert with them commanding them
And word bearers funnily enough kinda do that but with daemons
and even then Wars end
Wars been around before man existed and will out live us all
Me
Gombe chimpanzee war moment
Obviously some are less so than others or in smaller war bands
I meant be a spear tip, not be a legion
They do both it just depends on the objective
Word bearer standard MO is get in, find a cozy church, start spamming out daemons until everyone's dead
We see them do speartip deployments with terminators like the GC
Spear tip shit
The GC is what started Terminators being used like that
Hell Abbadon wrote the book on what tactics loyalists and traitors tend to use for terminator deployments
i see the csm commanding armies thing as a combination of ancient tactics and the general might makes right nature of chaos armies
I now picture Abaddon with a gigantic pen writing a book
Their tactics vary but generally most everyone uses marines the same basic way, obviously depending for preferences and situation
They’re shock troops who bolster or break key positions
yeah
"The art of war
Chapter one
Fuck basic humans"
It all depends on how many you have and the situation though
statisticly speaking the marines both loyal and chaos dont have the numbers to be used in any other way
Kinda depends on the specific engagement but 99% of the time yeah
Death Guard and Iron Hands can assault positions a bit more recklessly cause how tanky they are while some prefer more fast attack stuff or whatever
Like, the third armageddon war had a shit ton of marines there
yeah
Like World Eaters obviously prefer to get into melee but they’re not stupid with how they do that
They just engineer the situation to let them abuse that
Uhhh they tend to be actually
The nails and corruption does that, they're pretty explicitly bad at strategy
Like, Angron almost fucked up killing multiple legions out of impatience
In shroud of night their strategy is pretty explicitly described as "fuck it we ball, khorn protects"
There’s plenty of examples of them not being that way
Some are more reckless than others but their codex and Kharns books show this plenty
Kharn is completely lucid even while he’s in he depths of the nails for example
And other veteran WE are similar
It’s what separates the veterans from the newer berserkers
they are surprisingly good at tactics in instinctual level. they are far more dangerous than ytube memes portray them to be
they don't just ball it rush to melee like orks
You also have precedent for ones that do normal marine stuff
Yeah, people really need to read Kharns books
There’s a reason he’s been around so long and is so deadly with such a dangerous fighting style
Depends on the book, and yeah no duh they actually have plans in their own books
Also Shroud of Night is more people reacting to Kharn fighting not us seeing how Kharn plans stuff
He also just gets ressurected when he dies, he's halfway to daemon prince, just respects himself too much to ascend
He could have ascended a long time ago like any of the other four main champions
He’s more useful not
Not talking about kharn, I'm talking about we in general
Although iirc Typhus wants to but Nurgle won’t let him
Did the orks fight angron yet or is it still implied
It was a meme
Yeah
Mann
Isn't it mentioned they're going in that general direction ?
Based off people theorizing Angron killed Yarrick
They say a single skull with a bionic eye
Like two two layers of the fandom making shit up
And figured it was Yarrick
Tbf yarrick died and a yarrick-shaped skull appeared at the exact same time
I just wanna see more funny ork dubs that's all
It gets extra funny when you realize Angron hasn't been to Armageddon since the first war
The skull is ASTARTES SIZED
It’s not Yarrick shaped skull it’s a skull with a bionic eye
Doesn’t narrow it down a ton for 40k
GW is shite at dimensions tbf
See : titans being small
skull with bionic eye isn't common either. it can only be yarrick. like, everywhere in the setting. thousands of yarricks...
Besides Ghaz wouldn't go fot angron anyway, people entirely miss the point of his char
It was actually this guy
Agreed, though spite might change that
Source: His eye
His relationship with Yarrick is "woah, you're my best enemy" but I really don't think Ghaz would just randomly abandon his goal just to fuck up angron
Ghaz’s defining trait as a war boss is he doesn’t take fights he doesn’t need to
Dude, the fact that multiple people have a bionic eye doesn't change the fact it's a well known detail of his design
It’s still a huge jump
And has an overarching plan
With no real evidence
Okay so
Calgar also has a bionic eye
And Calgar isn't dead
Like people extrapolated the entire “omg Ghaz and Angron are gonna fight”
It's literally a common augmetic
Cause one skull
Yeah ? Never said otherwise
Okay ? It sounds like you're assuming I'm defending the fan theory
I'm not
I'm saying that a dude known for his bionic eye died at the same time as a skull with a bionic eye appeared
Isn't that an Astral Claw
Same diff
imo, we won't see them anywhere close until GW releases a major campaign which is nowhere close with most of the codices aren't even released. even then it's a coin toss they want orks vs WE
The dude is likely dead now
The astral claw have a pretty dope mix of the old and new lightning claw, both the spiky fingers and the wolverine claws
Considering as far as we’re aware all DW Astral Claws were killed

And this guy in particular was kinda an asshole
I don't think there was much left of Badab for him fo go back to
But we don’t have any examples
"Check the map again dude"
Plus this guy was a pretty good example of the AC ideas which led to Badab
Disgust for normies and being an Astartes supremacist
But who knows
Tbf astartes supremacy is pretty common
Not like the AC thought of it
They didn’t just have a disgust for normies
They thought Astartes should rule
They agree with Abaddon more or less lol
Basically
That's a natural conclusion of the disgust part
You can't think "we're better in every way" but "but we better not lead !!!"
Not really Astartes often get annoyed with how weak humans are but they’re not allowed to take command of human forces or conquer stuff for themselves
I didn't say they were allowed ?
Like IH think everyone else is a dork often, although it varies, but they’re not interested in conquering worlds or taking control of forces
At most they setup worlds to tithe recruits from
Or supplies
Basically a “we protect you, you give us so and so thing”
they are also above paperwork and administration. they need to chase glory instead
Iron Hands break a lot of rules but they’re quiet about it
Plus Medusa is pretty secluded
And they do their job well so people don’t come snooping
First Founding privileges help
Mostly as long as the tithe is paid the imperium dgaf yep
I've heard people suggest a skitarii as a new class in darktide, but then it being turned down to it not being lore friendly, so would a "defective" combat servitor be more probable?
Plus when you have stuff like this on your planet
And each of their 10 land behemoths have comparable firepower to an Ordinatus
People don’t argue as much
I'd expect a very low level tech adept first
Tbh
People who say that don’t really know how far the Inquisiton can go, but yes
A defective servitor would just be killed or replaced imo
Servitors are tricky
Imo they might use the Sienna necromancer AI
I'd rather have a tech adept
And let them deploy servitors
Like, a dlc class that replaces relics with implants with funny effects and has access to rad carbines or smth
I seriously doubt we’ll play a servitor
A tech adept turned acolyte maybe, since tech priests can be come inquisitors, other than that, I don’t see them coming really
That would be lame
We don’t actually have any examples of that
Just the fanart
A tech priest inquisitor would have a dual loyalty neither groups would love
i'm just thinking what would make sense with the whole "starts on a prison ship" idea in darktide...
Yeah it limits a lot
The one in Inquisitor Martyr wasn’t a full tech priest
lvl 30 scene with a servitor, even funnier than ogryn
We're not acolytes, we're rejects
You won't see an actually respected character
Tbh it’s easy to justify imo with the great rift
Lots of red tape has been cut
only other thing i can think of is a very tech'd up person
we are called both acolytes and rejects
You become an acolyte by lvl 30
Or unusual things have happened
but not quite mechanicus
Yeah but they're not gonna make a class that starts at that level
But yes I’d imagine it’ll be a tech adept or enginseer
They even call you acolyte before level 30 (Hadron specifically iirc)
i betcha they'd have a field day making unique quotes with Hadron if there was a tech class
hadrons peg leg as a penance cosmetic
at least at the Mourningstar
"Wassup my brother in the omnissiah"
-Hadron
Hadron stalking ogryn is hillarious
"what a ridiculous assertion, you are paranoid"
"YOU EAR THAT SAH"
"Definitely didnt hear her call you paranoid just now."
She wants to make a kataphron servitor lol
could also have hadron hijack the mechanicus class' vox mid sentence for some hilarity
According to zola
New class
Can carry heavy weapons but can't go up stairs
There’s a lot of fun ideas they could do with a Ad Mech dude
Omnissian axes
Maybe even a grav weapon
Rad guns
Servitor followers
That too lol
That's a priest status symbol but I could see one, same way you can buy 20 plasma rifles
Woops, I just irradiated the entire area and turned it into Elephant foot 2.0
The fact that the mourning star has all these lying around
isn't that what the plasma gun does already essentially?
But yeah we get good shit
(elephants foot is, or was, the most radioactive object on earth, in Chernobyl)
Power swords, plasma guns, thunder hammers, force weapons
Plasma doesn't irradiate
Rad guns, used by vanguards, literally irradiate their users with insane levels of radiation
Rad weapons are only used by Skitarii for the most part because their bionics let them survive it longer
Also
...well i guess technically not
Radium pistols 🥰
It’s bad for most war zones lol
Vanguard in general are pretty bad for war zones
Do you remember that one from psychic awakening that was never looked at again
That was so irradiated tech priests would die from being near it
Shoots rad weapon
Lowers ambiant radiation
Reject safety, become an avatar of radiation
Let our polluting powers combine!
Super radiation! Deforestation! Smog! Toxic! Hate!
And your polluting powers combined, I am Captain Pollution!
GO POLLUTION!
time to rack up the friendly fire, lads
Toasty
sounds like a cursed rave party
Radium Girls reboot looking lit
You can’t get irradiated if your levels of radiation already exceed the highest possible amount

It’s science
You don't need street lamps if the ground glows
"I am the plutonium rod"
Become one with the radiation
Bonus: Your enemies skin will slough off their bones if they get too close
Win win
A glowing green omnissian axe would look sick
Real mystery
Can’t think of any place
Clearly it is a creation of the forge and not something I found in this funky rave tomb
A spoonful of radiant helps your tongue go down your throat and your stomach to be punctured because the flesh is weak you pathetic meatbag
Oh you mean you don’t survive all but anti-tank ordinance causally? Damn
Can’t relate
I used to play a Magos on Gmod, strapping Abathur quotes to play on demand
Abathur is incredibly compatible with Admech for some reason, Biologis especially
Replace half of your brain with a gaming computer
There’s the one expert of the War Magos causally tearing apart a Long War Veteran terminator squad by himself
And he’s like
Almost disrespectfully not even putting his full attention on it
Dudes who had survived the siege and the heresy
Magos' are bloody terrifying
And thousands of years after
Tore apart by one Magos who decided he wanted to specialize in tearing shit apart
you look at Cawl and he is this behemoth of metal and augments with a face peering at you
We see similar things with IH, they’re just absurdly tanky
There’s one book where one get a shanked by a Hive Tyrant with both its swords, and it carve around with them. He proceeds to kill it and just says he’s now only 73% combat effective
"Nice argument meat bag, one small issue"
Okay, based??
That's why Admech is one of my favorite factions
I love just how monstrous they are
Different book they comment about how the chaos forces they’re fighting has to break out anti-tank weapons to even hurt the main Iron Father he’s so armored up and tanky
Which makes seeing memes double painful
A magos would definitely simulate a voice as deep and weird as Abathur's to throw people off
I used to just walk up to people "Examining Genetic Strands.."
Average Biologis Magos
"Conversation superfluous, focus upon combat"
"Good sequences, survival likely" while staring down a commissar

Good old days
It didn't help that I built a monster of a frame on top of the Admech model we had
So I was this spider looking mechanical thing with floating tanks of whatever I thought looked cool
Genetors are my favorite subfaction on Admech since you technically can have em fleshy if you please
Ad mech are a lot of fun with the variety of stuff you can do
Mechanicus game does a really good job portraying them
I think they tend to like, not show the fleshy bits as a matter of aesthetic
It's more a body horror "oh my god this tank is made of flesh" stuff
But every forge world goes through aesthetic fades fast
Some don't even speak anymore, they just blast binary
That game is carried by the art direction and vibes
Loved it but I wish it had deeper gameplay
An arch-magos becoming a mildly sentient servo skull on death is dope
Even in death I still serve the Omnissiah
Fr fr
Though there probably was a very funny thought process of "his brain + implants is big enough to fill a small car, what do we keep ?"
Become a moving fridge, dab on fleshlings
I like the way Hadron represents Mechanicus, she's somehow both alienating and human at the same time
Her reaction to being 15 or so seconds late is to have you executed
Then at the same time she tries joking with us
A mix of spiritualism and cold calculations
She's my least favourite
Reddit (for some fukin reason) was really weird about her
She's a good representation of why regular humans struggle with Admech imo
She's a lot more personable than most admech but given she's inquisitorial staff it actually makes sense
I realized something, the moebian domain is kinda special. I havent seen a case in imperial guard recruitment when an ENTIRE domain contributes to raising a single regiment under the moebian designation. Is this a first in the lore or there are just domains like in Darktide in other places in the galaxu
Some places exclusively provide troops so I wouldn't say that's exclusively a Moebian thing
Also not sure what you mean by a single regiment
Fortress worlds mostly do that
There's quite a few of them, we know of 6th, 21st and there's mentions of a couple more
Well, imperial guard regiments raised from the moebian domain isnt called something like the incron 12th or Atoma 7th. Its labelled moebian, so I thought that it means that a single moebian regiment is formed from people from the entire domain
Cadian regiments stay Cadian regiments despite recruiting from loads of worlds
Wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to the way the Ultramar Auxilia is, with the name being derived from the greater region instead of individual planets
Checked the planetary list of the Cadian system and man, it is not looking good
I wish there was a first founding legion with a middle eastern/Lawrence of Arabia theme
Well, it mostly because Cadian Regiment is somewhat a standard carcass for Shock Troop regiments for now
We got space vikings, space mongols, space egyptians, space kingdom of heaven, why not space arabs
Would you really trust GW to make space Arabs and not make them racist
Tallaran?
Everyone loves the Tallarn
Yeah but they're guards
Yeah they’re just represented elsewhere
I was talking about SM
I don`t see what neesh they could fill
I kinda want to play into Cordoba/Al Andalus with my space knight BA
like they are specializing in what?
Plus arguably the Iron Hands have some Middle Eastern aspects
I mean the thousand sons specialise in magic and I don't think it has anything to do with the fact they're egyptians
Still, they need something that would make them less generic and notable
Also Scottish
It has everything to do with the fact they're Egyptian
Oh yeah I forgot ancient egyptians used to have sorcerers everywhere
And yeah fuck me Tsons
Are middle eastern
Persian/Egyptian mix
So there that’s your Middle East legion
GW was a bunch of literature students and victorian/edwardian writers are all over both settings. In that period the secret societies these writers were often part of as "Good old boys club" traced their lineage back to Egypt for legitimacy, often to Hermes Trismegistus, who was a mythological Egyptian sorceror
So these clubs would often have depictions of Egyptian Gods in their lodges with like, spells and stuff carved on them
Imperial Fists have Spanish, German, and Norse influence
The Yeats Museum has a lot of this stuff on display, Crowley wrote a lot about "The Egyptian Doctrine", etc
Also the tallarn are always depicted as white guys it's ridiculous
They’re more Persian than anything
But they have Egyptian elements
None of it is 1:1 anyways, they’re not supposed to be “this culture but in space”
Zoroastrian, Egyptian, Viking, and Celtic all rolled up
They take from a lot of stuff
But the viking and celtic stuff is pretty subtle
Like how Kriegs uniforms is a mix of multiple WW1 nations
Iron Hands have Scottish and Jewish elements to them.
World Eaters have a mix of Roman gladiators with Russian stuff
But it's all under the banner of "wizard-scholar" and one of the legions most likely to have some kind of posh literary reference which makes me think they're mainly based off of English secret societies from the early 20th century
Among a lot of other things
White scars are pretty 1:1 if you ask me
Well not actual mongolian culture
An engl*sh guy's perception of mongolian culture
Since those secret societies had all those elements
Some are more one thing than others
Space Wolves are similar
But they’re not supposed to be like
Mongols if they made a chapter in space
They’re a planet which had elements of Mongolian culture mixed with other stuff
Same with Fenris
It’s not supposed to be perfectly accurate to our Mongolian or Scandinavia
Or whatever
Just like the Ultramarines have Roman and Greek elements
And Olympia has some Greek elements mixed with other things
And some generic euro stuff with knight crap
Tsons are just cults of secret : the legion
But then again so are dark angels, they're just mystical foreign cult of secrets vs good ol' english cult of secrets
Well it's still much less subtle with White Scars
Task force of sex
If you’re determined to be offended I guess
Like look at Caliban
Wat
Or Fenris
Why are you talking about being offended ?
What I'm saying is WS are the least subtle of the bunch
I know absolutely nothing about space wolves because they're cringe
Based as hell
I mean it sounds like you don’t know much about any of them tbh
And far and away my least favourite first founding legion
Space wolves are just GW trying to do a noble savage legion and forgetting to make anything interesting about them
Rude + projection
My guy, you’re the dude who couldn’t figure out what the middle eastern themed legion was
When the Tsons exist
That's word bearers
Egypt is barely in the middle east, word bearers have the whole cradle of religion vibe
Tsons are blatantly a Persian/Egyptian mix
There’s always extra stuff but it’s not subtle for them
Imperial Fists are one of the more mish mashed ones
There’s Spanish, German, somewhat Norse themes
Imp fists are like
Extremely vaguely "Germanic"
The spanish part is basically just them remembering crimson fists are descended from IF
BA are more renn Italy
Blood angels are specifically rennaisance italy yeah
Fists have two flavors. Modern day german work ethic and the crusade meme
Same naming scheme as the ninja turtles
And they fail a lot, just like the crusades!
My guy, you're the one talking to me about a legion that is clearly pre islamic Egypt and Persia themed when I literally mentioned Lawrence of Arabia. Ancient egyptians and persians didn't have a Lawrence of Arabia theme. The middle east has had a lot of cultural elements over its history
Death Guard are kinda hard to peg down
Same vibes as german politicians
You said Middle Eastern so we found middle eastern
Real death guard names are vaguely european peasantry themed, new death guard names are based on the sound you make when burping
And I also said arabs. The inspiration for the TS predates the arab colonisation
Burblepox Shmorgusboard
Burplespue moment
You said, middle eastern
Also, Egyptians are Arabs
Are you deliberately ignoring the last 4 words of the message
Word bearers will never be made more explicitly arabic though because Current Events make making a zealot with an arabic name kind of an issue
I mean people brought up Tallarn if you wanna hone it down to be so specific to one trope of Arabic culture
Which is a shame, I love the aesthetics when they lean into it more
"Damn, this lawrence dude rocked"
-GW
They are today, they weren't in 1000BC which is what the TS primarly use for inspiration
Can I have a legion based on this
Emperor's cats
Well then you have Tallarn I guess if none of the other examples make you happy
Raven Guard alternate version
They did say marines
There’s only so many first founding legions
There’s some close examples but that’s why successors exist if you want hone in on a theme
Or warbands
Some Alpha Legion names are arabic iirc but they don't really have it as a unified theme
A lot of legions took from several sources of marines and cultures too
WE were another example of a lot of diversity in cultures
Their particular battle strategy is pushing things off other things.
A tactical maneuver of moving a thing close to the edge, maintaining eye contact the entire time, only to push it back
And then push it off the edge anyway
They lay traps for others by lying upside down and exposing their bellies.
I wonder if normal cats still somehow exist
I know there are Psychic familiars that look like cats
I think they don't, but there's probably someone out there who ressurected one and shows it off
Like, a rogue trader or arch-magos
"This beast was worshipped on old terra, before the emperor. Remarquably easy to entertain with some string"
-Arch-Magos Biologis N3-KO
Cats are still around and are pretty common pets
I like to think they swarm hive cities
And now my brain is inserting feral cats into the Silver Skulls Fortress Monastery on Varsavia
Ogryn enclaves that protect cats
Esher have felines pets
Phelynx
Phyrr Cat
Khimerix (Dunno if they'd count)
Drumon considered the question a moment. 'Around twelve hours,' he said. 'The cats should have
dispersed enough to locate any active genestealers by that point.'
'Cats?' I echoed, baffled. Plenty of Guard regiments use animals for one purpose or another on
the battlefield, generally as cavalry mounts or attack beasts, but I'd never heard of Astartes doing so;
and even if they did, felines would hardly seem the most likely creatures to give a genestealer a run
for its money.
they are actually talking about:
'Cyber-Altered Task units. Like very simple servitors, without the biological components.'
'Then how do they work?' I asked, even more puzzled than before. I might not have been a tech-
priest, but even I knew it was the living brain which allowed a servitor to remember and process
simple instructions.
but Cain mistaking them for actual cats should be enough evidence for their existence
It's him, John Flaggelant
Vulkan yeet konrad to the void shield to take the hammer
Most hilarious shit I heard in the long time
I liked the time he reminded Konrad that his hammer can in fact function as a hammer
Really a perfect moment tbh
Does that mean the cultist markings and runes translate to something?
They do, they are the Dark Tongue scripts
I developed the spoken element 🙂
Hello Valkia's mom
I didn't even know they had a spoken element, when now at least I have another rabbit hole to go down.
and ya i thought the runes looked familiar lol
You can hear the Dregs speak it
Is the dark tongue alphabet applicable do it?
Looks like someone beat me to the runes thing. found a nerd rage post lol
for the runes around the map translated w/ the alphabet thing i mean
Yeah he was also here too
Hello!
Visuals aren’t in my wheelhouse 🙂

I think I meant to type mystery, I don't know what happened there
new mission: transcribe and translate the dreg language immediately dies
local man goes insane deciphering cultist tongue
Most dialogue Hypnotic posted so far for dregs is english, but I found a phrase, Mu'tash'fog Nurgle
voice actor has some proper cthulu pronunciations for some of these lol
The most famous one is also just
VUTASH VARG, NUUUURGLE
I think I developed a love for dreg gunners. Last match one shouted "FOR NURGLLLLE!" and began laying down suppressing fire on a wall he was right in front of
He was trying to hit the Ogryn on the other side
That sounds like a familiar phrase, can’t think why.
Flamer: zhaarsh'burn'zhaarsh, fu'rasharr (For russia). Gunner: sha'nuaash (but pronounce it like your having a seizure)
Lmfao
I made this clip just for how HYPE he is when he says that line
Yesssss thats exactly how it went
hes just SO HAPPY to be firing his LMG
I wonder how many of the enemy VAs are reused from the player lineup
Yeah and then a rock that was just randomly picked up from the ground by a mentally stunted giant gets thrown on his face
We know they have range
Kind of sad
Lmao
All the enemy voice actors are unknown people
its shown in imbd iirc
The npcs can be beautiful.
I've also noticed that hounds kinda just. Float across the sky when jumping now. I haven't played in a while so maybe I'm noticing it more now than ever
thats been always the case ye
they got no idle animation while midair
its like how Hunters in L4D are kinda locked in a single pose mid-jump
They look majestic when it happens
🙏
Weird that we've had no announcement or anything today
To early yet to say
Latest we've got would be in about 2 hours iirc
the IMB credits show quite a few as different people from the player VA lineup
I feel like a couple of the mourningstar npcs are from the player VA linup though. I feel like tallar=F pro, prask=M cadian, stane=F LC?, nessian=rannick?, leng=M pro, marroc=M savant doing M judge impression?
all those are guessing and half are probably wrong
Who tf names their kid stane
You’re just asking for them to get bullied at that point
I mean she sounds like the one who does the bullying XD
Stane may be his family name
ya it's very likely it's all last names of people, just like zola and morrow etc.
so that nerd rage post i refered to earlier says some of the runes on the map translate to M O Tz Aa Sh Ch Aa Gh, which is similar to the Mu'tash'fog Nurgle! or (Vutash Varg, Nurgle!) we hear from dregs so often.
So the markings must translate into dreg words, and not "gibberish" as the post complains about. Gonna double check the runes and translations w/ the fantasy dark tongue "alphabet" later
well the lady herself said she worked on the language for the game so i wouldnt be surprised
Rosetta Stone Nurglese when
someone did translate some runes a while back iirc
You may be happy, but you'll never be as happy as the dreg gunner
Honestly all the dreg specialist voice acting gives off the impression they're just giddy
FIRE
DEATH
RENEWAL
Well, maybe not the mutant or rager
Yeah
Nurgle is probably the best option if you're just an average chaos worshipper
Live in pure ecstacy
this is my asspull but they may have the least choice or fault on their fall
already being in pain or deep in misery and just seeking for release
or plain getting infected
It genuinely brings me joy that people are working on translation.
just an aesthetic
It's just that because it brings in basically the grim dark aspect of the classic horror because if you see a skull it usually means a bad thing
And hey skulls are pretty much the classic way of making something look pretty cool
So there's no lore in it
warhammer fantasy beast tongue runes is basically the main source for dark tongue and chaos language stuff in warhammer
It's "gothic"
or only source
the imperium is the bad guys, so they have skulls on everything
I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING. ALL CREDIT TO THE ACTORS AND DIRECTORS. =)
Sketch comedy show in which David Mitchell and Robert Webb play multiple different characters.
Actors: David Mitchell and Robert Webb.
see: mitchell and webb
TTS had the emperor say that the skull is meant to represent how even when stripped to its most base form that man is beautiful but i have no idea if that is based in any actual lore or not
Servoskulls are actual human skulls turned into robots
Because AI is technoheresy
The next best thing is a human brain
I know that
I know each skulls is a human skull (off not all of them)
I was asking about the lore behind the copious amount of skulls in warhammer
Followers of Khorne collect them as a form of worship
hence the Skulls for the Skull throne
Like what do they represent to the point people even use them for symbols or stuff
Aside from the khorne stuff cuz that's obvious
Servo-skulls don't have brains in them any more in most cases iirc
Sometimes they store the remaining knowledge of someone who died but usually they're just a cogitator on an antigrav unit

The imperiums relationship with computers is complicated
Im surprised none of the planets have an internet afaik
Do the space marine see the adeptus mechanicus as heretics (since they believe in the omnissiah instead of the god emperor (even tho they know he exists they just view him as a vessel))
Most Space Marines don’t worship the Emperor at all
and chapters and Techmarines who are part of the cult mechanicus tend to just call the Emperor and the Omnissiah interchangeably
They tend to revere, not worship
Certain space marines then
With some exceptions of course
The official position of the ecclesiarcy is that the omnissiah and the emperor are one and the same
But the Omnissiah is worshiped as he’s just another form of the Emperor
Mechanicus is allowed to worship the Omnissiah, part of the first treaty during the Unification.
A trinity
The Omnissiah, The Machine Spirit and The Motive Force
It’s the Motive Force, Omnissiah, Machine Spirit
Gork and Mork for da orkz
Depends who you ask
In reality the omnissiah might be a ctan shard
Big E is the Omnissiah's representative. Tech Jesus basically.
They’re a trinity like the Christian version so
Technically kinda
I just love how even in a society that organizes itself on rituals and dogma can’t even get itself to believe in the same thing, much like irl
I wonder how close they are to forming their own version of Protestantism
Or Big E’ism with blackjack and hookers
But the Omnissiah is typically how they refer to him
Pretty much like our past (roman, Greek, yadda yadda)
Mechanicus are just future tech Catholics
There’s been and are plenty of schisms within the Ad Mech
“What do you mean the pope is divinely chosen by god and pretty much speaks for the entire church???”
The Moirae schism being the most prominent
I love “Catholics” fighting with the pope
If they’re fighting with the pope then they’re not Catholic lmao
What about Christians
I wouldn’t agreed with that lol
Okay why are we talking about religioun now actually
Not to get into religion but the pope can be disagreed with
Oh really?
But anyways
I thought he had final say on everything
Depends if they made their own pope and declared the sitting pope antipope (this happened multiple times)
Not getting into it on here
Tf
Antipope?
Religion and 40k are intrinsic
Yeah Catholic history is colorful
An antipope (Latin: antipapa) is a person who claims to be Bishop of Rome and leader of the Catholic Church in opposition to the legitimately elected pope. Between the 3rd and mid-15th centuries, antipopes were supported by factions within the Church itself and secular rulers.
Sometimes it was difficult to distinguish which of two claimants shou...
Catholic doctrine has had a long time to gather terms
It hurts my bRAaiaain
Anyways, worship of the Omnissiah is fine with almost everyone involved
Alright
Especially since Techmarines from most chapters are inducted as full members of the machine cult
And of course because the Imperium needs Admech or everything falls apart (faster)
They can turn a blind eye
They both need each other so yeah
Atleast certain adeptus astartes don't view it as heretical
They work it out
Inquisition just counts E as the Omnissiah and looks the other way. Mechanicus polices ita own unless things get out of hand (Belisarius)
Admech x Imperium toxic yaoi when
Titanicus has a plot line about them finding evidence that the Emperor isn’t the Omnissiah
No.
And the ad mech leaders suppress it by the end
After a small civil war
Because they’re aware that it doesn’t matter if it’s true
They need each other
Realpolitik and all that
I wanna see how a space marine would look if they raise their hands or sumth
Just saying cuz of the big shoulder pads
Yeah I imagine they don’t have good range of motion
In general the space marines follow a more accurate version of what the Big E actually thought though, presumably because they live so long and there's still heresy era dreadnoughts about
One, Bjorn
One we know of
Two technically, but we dont talk about the Word Bearer
Yeaa
Oh
The shoulder pads can raise up as needed
Also there were probably a lot more only a few thousand years ago which is like 2 marine generations
Imagine a space marine having the agility of an acrobat
Now thats funny looking
Some do
And uncomfy
Ehh
With them big armor I wouldn't sayyy so?
yup, oversized shoulderpads don't sit flush on shoulders
The armor is not encumbering because its powered
Riiight I forgot that it's powered by their packs
And directly connected to their nervous system or something right?
In effect they have bigger levers to maneuver with
A good example
They actually move faster in the armor, so fast that they're a blur to mortals when fighting at full speed.
Via a geneseed organ under the skin iirc
black carapace
Those depictions are always stupid tbh
Marines are not agents from the Matrix

I don't think the whole body is a blur but the ends of the limbs i could definitely see
Astartes is prob the best showcase.
they are so fast they can't run in terminator armor yadayada
Even if they’re not as agile they have really fast reflexes to compensate no?
They can they just can’t sprint
I mean people can move fast enough their hands blur
This
The blur thing is mostly done because it sounds cool when you are reading a book.
Please tell me you're being sarcastic
I speak only what the books say
I can see a space marine having the limb speed to throw a 200 mph fastball is all im saying
Swing sword so fast its a blur
Not that crazy
I always thought of the astartes calling their dreadnought as "grandpa"
My headcanon hush
then there are harlequins they look like blur of colors etc
They can use grenades as non lethals by whipping them into peoples heads
The reason they don't is because their "father" is their primarch i imagine
If anyone has images of heretic writing on the walls send an image my way, they are a big rarer than I thought. Found 2 in hab dreyko though.
(blue wall) hab dreyko
N U Rh Gu L
L O (?) S Y O U
(yellow, prior to hab laranax elevator)
(A lot of these are used upsidedown or backwards runes:
Backwards: Aa, Ar, Ak, Gh
Upsidedown: [W,uu], Y)
Gh Aa Rh h?/S? H Aa Ar Aa (backwards lettering?)
Ul O h?/S? Ar Aa Rh [E,ii] [W,uu]
Sh Aa Y Ak Aa
also too close to nurgle
When personalities refer to Zealots as “priest”, does that mean they’re like an ordained priest or can it be read as a sign of respect? Ik that different cultures and whatever have different ways of worship.
Nurgle loves you. How very grandfatherly of him.
Tho zealots do talk about giving sermons and whatnot
That's true thats true
Imagine if calling your grandfather grandfather was illegal in the imperium lol
I think people overestimate how fast you need to move to be a blur too
Sigismund killing 11 traitors in 15 seconds is pretty fast lol
They first one is probably "Nurgle Loves you"
Oh

fighting against them in melee, yeah sure I take it. an open field rush against enemy lines, no way.
No, there would only be one of us per mission then.
Ehhh
Nothing we've seen in Tertium comes close to requiring more than one Astartes to handle
Astartes are fast
It really depends on how heinous the mission is come to think of it
Well, idk about that
All the monsters are more than capable of killing an Astartes
Theres a lot of hand waving with what our dudes do
Oh a ton
The bosses just
Frankly theyre non canon as far as I’m concerned
4 dipshits killing an actual demon? Only with plot.
I can see the plague ogryn sorta
but the beast of nurgle
we're absolutely fucking dead
Chaos Spawn and Daemon host I guess could be variable
unless faith is quite literally our shield
in which that case sure
The Spawn is def doable
Daemon host could be a super weak one bound a ton
Spawn are super variable by nature of being spawn
4 sm can handle those but rejects with little to no protection against plague, no way
