i think
or im half-sure
the director is broken in some cases
let me get an on-field example
The director really picks the shittiest times to spawn 5 crushers
Crushers are easy to kite, gunners fucking roll us though
Not gonna lie, I really like that there are bigger horde densities like this.

Lol idk. In my opinion, it's always been kinda weird. Sometimes theirs enemies on enemies, and sometimes it's perfect. 🤷♂️
One time 6 shotgunners spawned directly behind me and all shot me at the same time
Instadowned
watch the video
I love scab maulers
The director is just the 4 chaos gods taking turns on the controllers
Ooof....
Anyone remember the infinite horde bug
I do lmao
This game was made by sadists, for masochists
This is 100% also new, I was watching our back as a horde was rushing us and I saw 7 shotgunners sprint out of a corner together, the Director was absolutely behind it
@storm jungle brooooo this happened to me like twice today!!!!
Losing all of my health without being able to react gave me whiplash
Rager spam? Probably khorne
Infinite poxers? Yep nurgle
A horde of fast moving mutants and trappers? Slanesh
A horde of godamn toughness breaking shooters? It's that nerd again
Bruh I made a new vet to try all the update stuff with a clean slate so I've been grinding easy missions
The cutscenes being real time in dark tide has made me seen some cool stuff
Imagine hearing 7 shotgun blasts layered over eachother and getting downed INSTANTLY
Director has been busting my chops lately
I got hit with a burster, stuck on a ledge, while my teammate got mutanted, the ogryn killed the trapper, everyone gets back up, and then we get rushed by 3 maulers and a hound within 2 minutes and everyone died
Don't even get me started on the 10+ rager teams
movement! Movement!!?
"Easy mission"
The new auric experience is constantly hearing the horde of mutants screaming from a distance not knowing where they'll spawn
Khorne is straight up punching the other gods to get the controller with the amount of rager spawns
"ENGAGEMENT RANGE"
I refuse to believe otherwise
The ragers are like fucking mosquitos now
In a mission I can have multiple rager patrols
You turn around and three of them are trying to pizza cutter you
back to back
Especially when 10 ragers hide behind a horde of poxers so you can't get a nice headshot off before they get too close
Feelsbadman
As a zealot throwing knife enjoyer
I'm actually sweating trying to deal with ragers rn
I need more than 4 rocks for this level of spam
At least I have gotten good enough to deal with the horde like that but on higher difficulty it gets overwhelming
I cant tell you how many times I've thanked God a mutant spawned and trampled over the 15 ragers
Jesus Christ
I like that you can tell the makeup of a horde before they get to you because of the sound they make
When that happens I'm just glad that I brought the right build especially the tyrant for the job
Scab bruisers just scream and roar
Bro as a big boy chungus, i can deal with most the ragers. It's the nigh infinite amount of gunners that shreds my shizznit
dregs chant rise rise rise as they rush
Inb4 he Kobe's you to the nearest trapper and a flamers proceeds to slow roast you to a good medium well
ope someone said mutant, time to post my favorite wiki quote
bro why do you think i have 40% gunner resistance?
A Mutant is (or was) an Ogyrn that had been mutiliated and transfigured by the antics of the Heretic horde in service to Nurgle.
I think ragers need to be a bit louder
"antics"
The runts are going to tear you apart
Shenanigans
Ragers just sneak up on you and tear you a new asshole sometimes
How could those have been ogryns
I have it on every one of my relics and still get shredded lol
They are pretty small for ogryns too
you're telling me it is a little bit of tomfoolery that made that thing?
why do they sound so high pitched and squeaky sometimes
can be a breed designed to be smaller like the case for house goliath
in necromunda
They are genuine mosquitos
Yeah the mutants are just mutated humans
Derived from using the DNA of an ogryn suppose
@queen laurel house Goliath sounds like two words that shouldn't go together
"VUTASH VARG, NURG- WHEEZE COUGH"
Sometimes they go like convert or die and then sometimes you hear them taunt you in basically a girls voice
Don't think House Goliath are anything to do with Ogryns
A caper, even
"YOU HIDE, WE SEEK."
They were genetically engineered from regular humans
And when you kill them they make a squeak
my favorite is sthe scab stalkers
they do that noise where uh
you put out your lips
Yeah
Bububub
Lmao
Maybe the rager is a girl, you ever think of that?
What is nurgle doing to these mfs
no that tentacle is definitely male
Same! Buddy!
Just because they're a hellish, demon worshipping affront to nature doesn't mean you get to dictate their identity and presentation
Someone want to explain what a house Goliath is? Because that sounds absurd lol.
Good for her if true, but she's still a heretic
one time one of those guys died on their back and the tentacle started wiggling in a circle and for some reason it made me nauseous
Imagine the smell
90% of the heretics don't have proper noses anymore
Like charcoal broiled feet
I... umm... I'm going to anyway. I hope thats OK lol
It probably smells more like rotting flesh
it's a gang in Necromunda
Necromunda gang, they're large because drugs
They are made to be workers
man i wonder whats behind that pillar
The Lord of Necromunda was tired of using weak humans in his factory because they kept dieing and it was very inconvenient, so they genetically engineered the Goliaths, big boys who are pretty tough.
but they decided to revolt
They started out as slaves but then became free
Don't they have that guy who is basically a Khorne Worshipper?
So glad you can shoot through walls in l4d
These are some creed level of hiding things, but this time it didn't work
Playing vs and trying to spawn 5 feet behind someone using a desk as cover lol
Oh lol. I thought they were like house elves from HP, but massive lolol
AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Suprise
god L4D2 has such good enemy design
It does
You can actually see his head a bit
The tank ate Dilara
My only gripe with tanks is how trivialized they are by molotovs
What do we do now
valve was always very good at designing people
yeah somehow they made the average bodybuilder steroid abuser enemy memorable
If tanks moved faster while taking damage instead of slower
All left 4 dead specials have that grotesque designs but it actually makes sense
That would be scarh
I think it works in a simplistic sense, tanks can destroy entire teams in seconds, the survivors having a good coutner is necessary
Does Payday comparable to L4D?
Hunters my beloved
Have y'all seen Jeff in Half Life Alyx? Now that is some valve level design
Lol yea, that's dope. I was imagining an ogre version of a house elf from Harry Potter lolol
Isn't PtH in L4Ds universe
Read up on his wikipage, his development is really interesting.
Oh yeah.
basically all started from the devs wanting a blind enemy
Like hunters walljumping
PtH has a L4D mission.
Shooting smoker tongues as you get grabbed to escape
The only game where you are on retirement and you decided to go up for deployment one more time only for the robber to bring in an armor capable of weathering RPG fire and has a mini gun
ETC
Also got a Hotline Miami mission as DLC.
its such a simple but fun game, genuinely timeless
My friends and I love to install random community maps and play through them
It is never boring
Ended up being a waking terror for me when trying to play that game .. brou haven't felt actual terror when peeking a corner realizing Jeff is 4 inches away literally staring at me
Ugh I'm in a mood tonight but i still want to grind. Time for drunktide.
(My team hates me)
I think in darktide enemy noise is a lot more important
Most of the enemies are audible, but some need to be a tad louder
I love the Gordon Ramsay mods for L4D2, it turns every special infected into Gordon Ramsay, so you never know which one it is until it's too late.
On the topic of level design
Fkn
Bricky brought up a good point while replaying old MW2
I do like DT sound design or more like Sound redabilty. You instantly get alot of info from small sound ques
they did a pretty good job I think though because every special has a very instantly recognizable noise
Yeah Darktide does a much better job
the problem is
Darktide has A LOT more enemy types
L4D is limited so the player isnt overwhelmed too much
Maybe the trapper is the one that makes the least sense at first
Almost everyone else it's instant
When they spawn to much you don't hear or it doesn't play the sound
The trapper is pretty good sound design
^
She sounds extremely distinct
Yeah so when they throw enough crap at you it really gets overwhelming
My friend says there's too much noise in darktide
So you instantly look for her
I understand
Cackling like a hyena almost
"GOT THIS JUST FOR YOOOOUUU"
Trappers and bulwarks are best friends I swear
boy fuck that anti material net tho passing through walls
For the Trapper you can hear her running/chains rattling, the fire of the netgun AND even the electric buzzing of her netgun as shes idle or hiding away, same with the REALLY LOUD clicky-clack reload noise
My favorite is still
I easily pick out special spawns by sound even in the midst of a chaotic horde, it really shows the good sound mixing
I don't mean she isn't recognizable because she is, it's just that I did not realize there would be an enemy with a net the first time
FIRE, DEATH, RENEWAL
FIRE, DEATH, RENEWAL
After you play enough it stops being the problem of too many sounds
It literally become fkn
Instinctive
Can't see them so you just have to guess what way to dodge
IM GONNA GET YA HEHE
I think the issue is really the AI being extremely weird about when and how it throws elites at you, not so much the reliance on sound
When the mutie screams you know it's some guy that will beat you up
The mauler showing up and quietly purring "weaklings..!" Is hilarious to me
And mutants being so loud at all times.
Making elite spawns more standard would solve a lot
When you hear the stove clicking it's a flamer
I've caught myself feeling things coming without consciously hearing them lmao
It's freaky
Dude I hate 59 mutie spawns at once
Mutants should be quieter
The only time the sounds are too much
Other elites should be louder
Bruh when you're so focused sniping as vet then you hear a chain axe rev behind you
He's never purring he's pretty loud when he yells at people
get's direct impacted on the face with a Grenade
I like when he yells at people to get out of the way
When you kill a mutant and it goes "BRUH...."
You want to talk about purring you look at the crusher
the Gunners are probably my favorite
Green Fire is not good for cooking Nosh!
He literally mumbles die...
The gunners have such deep voices
NU-U-U-U-U-U-RGLE
The dreg gunners are my favorite
I must reload...
I like that the gunners still use guard terminology
Shotgunners have the ridiculously deep voices
TAUROX ENGAGMENT KAPPA 2-4
Where's our heavy stubber for the veteran?
i mean we do have a professional
Soon i hope.
He kills better than he reads the infantryman's primers
I always breathe a sigh of relief when the vet yells regulation zeta-112
Isn't there a voiceline where Loose Cannon calls out Prof for just making up the codes he calls out
Nothing beats hearing a gunner ask "who's creeping in the dark?" As you dead sprint at them to chop their heads off
Speaking damn that art doh for the skill trees, I want to remake that left gunner drip so bad
I haven't heard this but hadron says a few of the same codes he does
I think he knows what he's saying mostly
Smokin a cig while laying down hate with your heavy stubber
Especially since the loose cannon almost gets some of them
He's probably just saying you made it up as a joke
It's a lot of codes to keep down
I like when the loose cannon can't remember that one code so he just screams shoot it at the top of his lung
What is it
The Ogryn attempting to remember the codes but just gives up because too much tink hurt
Yeah he takes so long to say sniper it's already dead
My favorite reject interaction - Loner psyker: we're all expendable you know
Professional veteran: in other news, water proven to be wet
Gamma something something burster
Is that real
Yes
Got a clip?
I can try to find it
Please I neeeed to hear it
I like the one with the ultra scottish preacher trying to be mean to the seer psyker
btw, do the scab shotgunners have a unique shotgun to them?
I would love an interaction between LC and one of the Ogryns where the ogryn actually remembers codes he doesn't
Cadians have no chill
Just make that man feel stupid
Like, it's got a drum mag.
They've got drum mags, same as the Captains
I think that'd probably be bodyguard
make the one who remembers the Brawler
Add some extra salt to the wound
Bodyguard
His intro dialogue
Bodyguard
he says that he fought in a war
Yeah that would be bodyguard
says he held a hill against strange men in spiky armor
and was punished for it
What would that have been about?
Probably other chaos cultists this they tend to be spiky like that
He broke them and threw them on the rocks!
You wouldn't mistake another chaos cultist because they look very similar
You'd also get in trouble for talking too plainly about chaos so I'd imagine he just wasn't sharp enough to keep his trap shut
You know it'd be funny if those were actually Moebians trying to weaken the front or something
I can't tell if the loose cannon actually killed people to get into a supply shed or not
he's just like "well now that I think about, it there was a lot of blood..."
Probably his own?
Random 40k question. What's the creepiest underknown thing you can think of in this universe? Can be anything from anywhere, the more eldritch the better.
Gambol
Honourable mentions
Whatever used to be in the Halo Stars
Whatever wiped out everything in the Ghoul Stars
And the Harrowing
So I know about the halo and ghoul stars
What's Gambol and the Harrowing
The Harrowing sounds familiar...
Gambol is a servitor toy
Made to look like a clown
He shows up in Bookkeeper's skull
Servitors as a concept are bad enough, in this case he's mutilated clown made to entertain a noble kid
*a mutilated
... I mean... that's messed up af for sure lol
His implants weren't put in right so they constantly it's and get scratched by him, causing blood to come out
Just not what I was expecting lolol
*itch
As for the Harrowing
It's a dark heresy adventure hook
But what we know is that it's an extra dimensional race locked behind a door in the Halo stars
They at one point escaped and ravaged the imperium, only barely getting pushed back
Getting near said door when it's open causes immediate insanity, it has an entire chapter watching over it iirc
The halo devices are pretty metal
Give you immortality but turn you into a flesh hungry vampire basically
The halo devices are mental af for sure.
My creepiest one I don't think I can even talk about because it's very "adult" and I can't get into why it skeeves me out so much without really getting into the weeds
@green loom that's crazy though, so it's this extradimensional race? Like... they aren't warp connected? But they still cause insanity? Yeah that's dope af
How in depth does the book go into it?
Suffice to say, haemonculi are freaks
more than I expected 40k to
@crisp heath this be facts, nough said
@crisp heath lol was asking about The Harrowin though specifically
Not very, as I said it's an adventure hook, what I said is pretty much everything
The DM is supposed to do stuff with it
The Daemonculaba is also another common pick
We don't mention that one
Iron within, iron without
This is what they play on Relay Station TRS-150
Discord:https://discord.gg/ehvcHKU
I'm not even sure if it's canon anymore
It is.
It is
Oh I didn't understand the adventure part lol. Thought you just meant genre. It's a game book. Goooootcha
it just appears in a single book
No reason it wouldn’t be
and people overmention the shit out of it
It's not even the worst thing in the book iirc
deffo has gotten tiring at this point

Those are used for the mutant Astartes the women give birth to yeah
Flayed ones are pretty horrifying
Said they were stretched skin wise before being flayed for the skinless (Astartes)
Someone somewhere was turned on by reading about breeding farms in 40k, and I think that's the creepiest most eldritch thing to me lolol
(the writers barely disguised Fetish)
Teleporting forever hungry murder bots
Weaken those around them, and can also mimick voices, just to be sure)
Male Writer Moment
@arctic talon it happens often I find lil
@storm jungle lol didn't you show how one of the 40k writers was literally a fetish writer lol
Yeah Ian Watson
That guy yeah! Lol
(case can be made daemonculaba got lifted from dune as well, not even one of the good ideas either)
Dune never gets that gorey
Yeah I don’t know too much about dune
Dune has breeding angles but its entirely from a bloodline perspective
dune does have its own questionable sex stuff
But I doubt they ever did anything like that
Embedding* lol
I was more referring to axlotl tanks
Multiple women stitched together to give birth to skinless huge mutants?
oh lmao
Due explain, idk about dune
which were clone women used as machine-wombs to mass produce clones and attempts to create artificial spice
you're missing the best part
they got the genetic materials for this from cadavers
I honestly forget if that was a frankie h. idea or the kid+star wars dude
Frank definitely has a "way" of writing sex stuff lmao
oh wait looked it up it was totally franks idea
Krieg does something similar with vitae wombs to replace their crazy losses, they’re basically just test tube kids
I only turned around for a few seconds
Damn we took 87% losses, hit up the vitae wombs
Sure why not, ill kick us off

lmao
What the fuck
cursed embed

Into the bowels of hell we go gentleman
"Tleilaxu sperm does not talk."
Dear lord... I forgot how much of Dune was basically smut...
Hey Dilara does this channel pass mad regulation
all i'm gonna say is
dune was written in the late 60s
AMAZING books by the way
but even good writing has its moments
Yknow what would be kinda cool instead of pox walkers? Their forgotten brethren from the plague of unbelief, plague zombies!!
nobody is guiltier of being detrimentally down bad than george martin though

yes
because goddamn those descriptions
george writing food
💀
makes me so fucking hungry
I ran into him at a restaurant
and i get immediatley repulsed when he describes... certain anatomy...
dude the cersei pov chapter where she was talking about her nights with robert made me wanna GAG
not that I talked with him, just that I was eating at the place he was
Do you think atoma has plague zombies as well as poxwalkers? That’d be some messed up sht
“Attention Citizens: Beware the Zombie Plague. All deceased must be burned within six minutes of death to prevent re-animation.”
is burned into my brain
same 💀
Prob just poxwalkers for now
Seven courses were served, in honor of the seven gods and the seven brothers of the Kingsguard. The soup was made with eggs and lemons, the long green peppers stuffed with cheese and onions. There were lamprey pies, capons glazed with honey, a whiskerfish from the bottom of the Greenblood that was so big it took four serving men to carry it to table. After that came a savory snake stew, chunks of seven different sorts of snake slow-simmered with dragon peppers and blood oranges and a dash of venom to give it a good bite. The stew was fiery hot, Hotah knew, though he tasted none of it. Sherbet followed, to cool the tongue. For the sweet, each guest was served a skull of spun sugar. When the crust was broken, they found sweet custard inside and bits of plum and cherry.
—- A Dance with Dragons
oh yeah speaking of repetitive words
NOOOO
legit though god such good food-writing
Lolol
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammer40k/images/3/3d/Zombie_last_stand.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130215120148 poor arbitrators trying to make a last stand
i genuinely don't know how anyone could make it through the purple wedding
all that fucking food
The Roman way
all those trenchers
i didn't know what a trencher was until i read asoiaf
or fry bread
Eat, puke, eat, puke, pass out or have heart attack, find out in morning
He's rewriting Winds of Winter because he realized 7/10th of the book is shit like this
@slate belfry I can believe it lolol
The true Roman way
I want someone to write me a love letter the way George Martin writes a meal scene
I like how he's fully written 2 entire spinoffs before winds of winter

I just want someone to write me a love letter
40% of Winds is one long ongoing feast scene from multiple POV's
given that wyman manderly is a central character in winds
the idea that there is that much food writing holds water
there is a difference?
Poxwalkers are more daemonic in nature that’s about the only diff
Literal zombos otherwise
the real difference is poxwalker is easily copywriteable, and plague zombie is more generic
Poxwalkers are created when you die from nurgles rot
Your soul feeds a demon in the warp which becomes the walker
i don't think george needed to write about dany eating those berries and getting sick tbh
Which is different from regular zombies of the plague
GW is obsessed with copyrightable names
honestly last time I think plague zombies were in a dex was like 6th edition
Yeah they’re from the “walking pox”(very original GW) disease, some say that it’s a variant or strain of nurgles rot since it makes em mutate
There's a server I'm in where it's a bannable offense to mention the "More she drank" scene from the books
It's not a variety or strain. I'm pretty sure it's literally been stated what they are
LMFAO
“Some Inquisitors of the Ordo Sepulturum -- the new Ordo Minoris of the Inquisition dedicated to battling the undead -- claim that the Walking Pox is a variant of Nurgle's Rot, since unlike zombies, the victim's flesh often mutates even after physical death, “
Ordo Sepulturum would be a good Tie in for Darktide eventually, they’re a newer Ordo
Study zombies
They are the final product of nurgles rot. Nurgles rot infects the soul, not just the body, taking it to the warp where it feeds a demon that becomes the Poxwalker, damning you to an eternity in nurgles service. These lesser demons then flood his ranks, carrying massive swills of his Rot to further infect untold more.
there's a similar scene on victarion's ship with monkeys 💀
Nurgles rot makes plauge bearers
It can yes
i thought they had both?
cause we fight pox lads and normal zombos
groaners are different, pox walkers are supernatural but groaners are just sick and not in control of teir actions
Do you think a regular Hummie could use the Orygns weapons?
Yes you just bring a heavy weapons team
So they could use a ripper instead of an heavy bolter.
I mean they're just rather large. You could just use them as mounted weapons
the twin stubber is a common tripod mounted gun for some regiments iirc
You know. A bayonet on a mounted ripper gum
To aggressively swivel in cqc
But to shoulder or hipfire? Probably not
Maybe Bragg could
Legitimately, the rumbler is the size of a person
What about old Iron Hand?
Straken could prabably lift and fire it. Harker could fire a Heavy Bolter effectively so its no question
Iron hand could prob do it in his bionic arm, think it’s too strong for humans otherwise, kinda like an Astartes bolter
And strakens got a super high quality bionic, doesn’t hurt
Mounted or braced against something maybe, but they’re not really good weapons for normal people

Pursuing a refugee fleet of the Shigue Diaspora, corporate forces of the Hegemon send their elite mercenaries to attack an alien wea...
not 40k lore but pretty badass
Poxwalkers are reanimated victims of walking pox, groaners are the mid stage of the disease
Also regarding plague zombies there's multiple different types
Plague of disbelief is the big one
also Plague zombies did get mentioned as of 9e
in Warzone Metalica bcs Typhus likes them
There's a strain that makes you revert into a healthy human...and then turns you into a worm

plague bearers are the one horned one eye supernatural daemons of nurgle, not poxwalkers
Poxwalkers have a daemonic element to the disease
Being technical, poxwalkers are slightly supernatural, because yeah the disease has a warp element
but they aren't literal daemons
It's why they couldn't do much but contain the victims, this warp element stops conventional curatives from working
The more horrifying part of Poxwalkers is they're fully aware of what their body is up to, they can't do anything about it
It's like being fully paralyzed but your body is running around eating people
without your input
i mean poxwalkers are piloted by supernatural worms and maggots or at least their corpse are pilotted by them? IDK if they rising from the dead though. Hence the infested tag on poxxers.
They technically do?
The maggot part is your standard Nurgle deal
Essentially the disease slowly wastes and rots you away until you "die"
Except you spring back up
Tfw we got the very toned down look for poxwalkers
Considering their minis are this
always found it funny how this guy has his gun still
Compiled all Brahms quotes (Patch 15), video should be available soon

ty, this is great

She sounds like she's supposed to be around melk
Probably a new vender for something
Maybe trade in weapons or something
Oh god
I wonder if she’s gonna be like a battle pass thing
praise be brother
That'd be incredibly funny considering she called melk a social climber
At least that's what Hallowette said
ya they hate melk, but alice and melk have similar interests in doing underhanded stuff. One with the book and the other with boots on the ground
just curious, are you working w/ janfon1 on these?
Who is that? I've mainly just been extracting these by myself out of curiosity
OH, one of the mods shared teh brahms mp3 file when I asked and mentioned janfon at some point and assume it was from him. But ya he's a vermintide fan animator
Original song - James Blunt - You're Beautiful

My devotion's true, my love is pure

You're beneficent, it's true...
damn janfon with another W, meme lord supreme
Very funni si

looks more like a cross between a space marine and jin roh soldier
To me looked like some Iron Warriors that dipped abit too much into the Mechanicus, getting some drippy power armor in return

"I see you got a new scar"
So, how much simping do you think will happen toward her ?
Or will Hadron remain as queen of the simps
Once she appears in the ship, i want Hadron or Brahm to randomly have snark remarks against each other instead of the usual greeting
Will definitely ramp up once she becomes avaliable as a hub character
thats when her "Likes Player" interactions start
When i first heard her and Hadron talk to each other i just suddenly had a vision of danger like i was fuckin Kairos
I like i just heard something in the void whisper danger
lmao
to be fair its probably because Hadron finally has someone she cant act coy with
stupid bitch

Oh yeah i was surprised that somebody can smack the sass back to her now
I love how in return shes like
"Ah yes sarcasm, the last resort of people like you"

my trick? fill a bucket with water and keep it right next to your desk
she's cool compared to most admech characters
you already know its over for hadron if that bucket just so happens to accidentally get tipped
Is chronomancy on the canon list of psyker abilities?
(Is there like, a list of sanctioned psyker fields?)
there is on the wiki, so far there's:
Biomancy - Mending the flesh and turning the body on itself with bio-electric energy
Divination - Glancing through eyes that aren't yours and seeing things yet to happen
Pyromancy - Burn shit
Telekine - Translate mental strength into physical force, give physics the finger and throw stuff with your mind
Telepathy - Read thoughts, commune without words and get depresso when you uncover the true nature of man
Darn. No time warpin' for us then. I assume pyromancy also covers lighting stuff. What would assail fall under?
i'd guess telekine, making and throwing the shards out of physical energy
Same for shield then.
Chronomancy is only for really advanced stuff like Necrons
⏱️
It's probably telekine but my Psyker has some voice lines with Assail were she call it "Shards of hate" and says "Taste a fraction of my pain", so it could possibly be somewhat related to telepathy and emotions
I figured psykers could manifest concepts as physical phenomenon
Aye, which is why it'd make sense, no?
if you are a mary sue special character
anything is possible
just ask Mephiston

If the author demands you can do anything
Mephiston literally has a jojo stand and can stop time
yeah lol
Hmm. Us rejects do get close to that in many ways
ahriman is a very powerful psyker though
Yeah, probably well above us.
Of course, chronomancy, like any field, is a spectrum. I imagine slowing down something much easier than like, rewinding time.
But even still, heavy stuff
as for thoughtforms
space magic rules and categories aren't well-defined so characters can do whatever the plot needs in a particular story
the best example i can give you is a group of non-psyker humans manifesting a physical representation of the tau greater good
Again really depends
most human psykers still keep a limit and cant do most of this stuff
Necrons are allowed because their technology is so advanced its basically magic.
Ahriman, Emperor, Mephiston meanwhile enter "whatever the writer wants" category
Welp, we could get some biomancy for sure. Also wouldn't mind somekind of telepathy related support abilitys. (Give them a boost AND read their thoughts! Would be fun, no?)
No clue how divination would transfer
darktide psyker is pretty advanced even in their category, basically shaping a whole battlefield
Nah
scrier's gaze is meant to be divination
We do have biomancy
Darktide psykers are good battle-psykers and thats about it
they are otherwise very volatile and glass-cannon'y
🌩️
a good psyker player is delta level
Really? Neat!
you can shoot sith lightning but it wont stop someone from getting close to you and hitting you with a bat 💀
your average darktide psyker is epsilon, maybe lower
As like, a weapon?
Yes it will, it's CC
Me watching an assail psyker be unaware the stealth crusher is about to cave his head in

Me watching an assail psyker with deimos sword and voidstrike staff use shards on maulers/crushers
The lightning is biomancy

Oooh, I thought that was akin to pyromancy
Is lighting the usual biomancy or are there other examples? I heard rumor of psyker who could turn their body into metal.
yeah biomancy is cellular manipulation
so a skilled biomancer could make their skin like metal
or heal themselves
Lightning is the most visible one
Could they make someone else skin like metal?
Glavia Aerand is a good example of Divination in a battle Psyker in the books, she basically dances through the battlefield avoiding shots and hits, while point blank executing enemies with a laspisol.
If they're strong enough. Ya.
Are 'we' strong enough or nah
Prolly not
sanguinius also used divination in a much more direct way
Darn
Doubtful.
"Will I die in this fight? No? I'm fighting then"

He read ahead
"Im not dying to anyone but Horus so may as well."
How my teammates acted like they play fr
his last fight: "Will I die in this fight? Yes? I'm fighting then"
so thats the funny part
Sanguinius knew he'd die but he wanted to defy that destiny
fucking stupid moron

NO ONE CAN DEFY THE SCRIPT
he did not stand a chance
Fate got hands
His face got peeled off 💀
Sangy shoots the author, writes their own ending
Whenever I read something in 30k about stopping the Heresy from happening 💀
love it
hate that trope honestly
Irony, no?
They are unaware they're in the PREQUELS
Dramatic irony.
Im re-reading Death and the End Vol2 and its just
"THE IMPERIUM IS SURELY DESTROYED, CHAOS WILL BE TRIUMPHAN-"
Me: yeah yeah i fucking get it skip

What, did George Lucas write this script? Skip the dialogue and get to the killing already!
It's like poetry, it rhymes
This has happened a few times with a few characters if I'm not mistaken... I'm remembering a chaos dude doing that once, banking on not being able to die in a fight because it "wasn't his time." I think Sangy was there too, or maybe Vulcan? They tried to kill the guy anyway and some force literally stopped his sword like he'd hit bedrock or something, but it was an invisible something. It jarred him with how much force he'd put behind the swing.
Dorn stuck in the desert for 100 years talking about how much he hates sand the entire time.
i feel like grammaticus only exists for exposition dumps
That's all the perpetuals
^
also I love the use of the warp for lazy narrative tools
They call out the weird shit since they're "normal"
"How do I get Loken to the Vengeful Spirit?"
"OH I KNOW"
he goes through a random ass door on terra and is now on the ship
fuck off abnett
lmao
Literally a comedy skit
LITERALLY
scooby doo moment
Look, Malcador has a plan to assassinate Horus and sent an Assassin Kill Team except Big E tipped off Horus so they could settle it like men or something
💀
Oh man. I left my drink over there but I am too comfy to get up. OH I KNOW
Tears hole in reality
I reach through the 8th dimension to grab it
Question. What's everybody's thoughts on the Terminus Decree with the way things are going in the Imperium atm? What is it, and how do you think it will be implemented?
^
My thoughts
It's a doohickey that will be of no use ever
its never gonna get used
something to make the gray knights seem even cooler
but as for what it is?
maybe a set of instructions for the golden throne
Lol well this was a bit more disappointing then my usual questions
how to deactivate it and "kill" the emperor
I'll think of a better one
"Place C4 in lap"
tickle him until he moves
A message from GW: ||Primaris the Grey Knights||
@dense salmon I'd heard this a lot. And my thoughts on it were somewhere along this. We know Star child is back in the mix. We also know whatever is sitting on that throne, ain't the ol emperor we knew. I'm wondering if it's what kills or shuts off that, remerging the energy there with the Star child
If unplugged the results are pretty predictable
no more astronomicon
Well they say the Terminus Decree could either destroy or save the Imperium, so it's probably a sticky note in the Emperors handwriting that says "I'm not a God"
terra consumed by the warp
Ehh, maybe not, if a fully formed Star child is there to take over
emperor either becomes a full-on warp god or reforms
Again, maybe not if a "mortal" star child is there to take all that in
why would they want to change the only thing literally in the center of the plot of everything
Because being honest, 40k has maybe 5 years tops before I becomes stale
End Time protocol
It became stale a decade ago
Frankly
I love the story but if they wanna keep their current traction long term they'll have to shake things up
unless they want to pull the plug like fantasy, emps will be sitting there for many years now
How they do that, 🤷♂️
The overarching story is straight up just set dressing for continued sales
40k has had the most advancements in it's over arching story in the last 5 years than ever before in such a short time frame though
like so much keeps happening compared to what it was 10 years ago
But I think they're starting to realize there's a massive market for their story with the things their doing, making an Amazon show and what not. It'd be really stupid of them to double down only on those sales and not take advantage of the massive influx of new blood
They're probably trying to turn the 40k story into a product in itself, like the Horus Heresy
they're not doing very good job with it
ikr
You say they're doing a bad job of it, but literally you also said this
advancements doesnt mean "good"
I don't think it needs nor am I sure it would work if it had a straight cut line of a story to follow
They're gonna need time to catch up to the buzz, but they are it seems
the not good part is the Dawn of Fire series which tries to be HH of 40k
this is the entire reason I keep most of my 40k homebrew stuff/stories pre-Rift
that era of 40k just had a vibe to it
40k was a setting to place standalone stories in
Now there's a bigger overarching narrative
It was a shit load of little battles in a massive galaxy
it's why the black crusades didn't really accomplish anything until recently
people joke about abaddon being a failure as if GW wasn't jumping through hoops to maintain a status quo until recently
failbaddon is a bad joke anyways
people who say that also dont realise none of his targets were Cadia
or to destroy the Imperium
💀
GW realizing they've killed off almost all their non Astartes / Eldar named characters with the Dark Imperium and retconning how long it was
And they also don't know what Gathering Storm is
But at this point, a massive amount of people love the story that has slowly formed. Like it's undeniable a story has been made. And the way its told is also amazing and unique, in that we don't have omniscient authors that know everything. That's been the amazing thing about 40k that you say makes it an amazing setting. But at the same time it makes it the most intriguing story out right now. And because of that, GW would be stupid not to capitalize on that
Lemme stop you there
The only thing a massive amount of people care about is fkn
Primnarch sex
And I'm not even being ironic

"GW would be stupid not to capitalize on that" That's a lot of faith in GW
^
GW are stupid
every management in every corporation is the same
"Why chart not go up"
lol
Maybe they are. But my statement is still factual...
They just had the WoW luck of being one of the first and got lucky.
Also the 40k authors don't need to know anything
we'll see how this amazon show turns out
Depending on how high profile they are they can literally just make shit u p
I feel like this would be why they stay stupid... yall are already shooting down everything I'm saying....
And if not they have editors that OK everything
you don't really need to be high profile to make shit up as we've seen
Just bringing up the obvious fact that the community is literally thirsting for more story. That the massive influx of new blood isn't here because of the table top, or any game
They're here because of the story
People are hyping it up
i really hope they like
dont expect anything big
lmao
Pariah Nexus was the most expensive animation project GW did and it was only 3 episodes.
I think they don't even know what they expect
This I will absolutely disagree with.
That's just false
Most new Fantasy fans aren't showing up for lore. It's TW and VT.
^
You can but it's facts. The vast majority of new blood is from YouTube channels exploring the lore
The vast majority of 40k fans probably never touch a book
The communiy both want story and dont want story.
The 40k fandom at least the general one is the most Star Wars tier fans out there, they will bitch about anything a company does while consuming their product en-masse.
@green loom bet they'd watch shows though
A single Russian Badger video probably grabs more people than a dozen Luetin ones
Video games are a lot more accessible than books
if ssethtzeentach makes a video about a 40k game
WH+ "peak" sub/viewer count was 1 million, which is yikes 💀
Darktide, Rogue Trader
also this
during the sseth tide
@storm jungle that's their plus bs
Dawn of War, etc
star wars analogy works perfectly. most people care about toys more than the story
Hell
People like the setting because it's nice eye candy
If they'd do it in a way that made sense, like licensing to Amazon (hint hint) more will see it
Also painting the models is pretty fun
the people in this chat like the 40k lore
but there's a reason you see the same 10 faces
Compare the 40k lore channel view count vs say, RussianBadger's Spacehulk video
I just don't see why yall are so adamantly against 40k media.
I'm gonna be honest, painting 3 models/playing darktide felt a lot more fulfilling for me than reading Horus Rising, and I'm like the picture perfect lowbrow consumer
As much as Id love to see a 40k equivalent of an End Times (but better written of course), I think this is a setting thats really hard to move forwards story-wise due to the sheer amount of lore and how many people will complain of how GW is biased and blah blah blah. It wont make many people happy at the end of the day IMO.
Everything yall have said so far does not indicate that
I think you're putting words in our mouth
Feel like I'm arguing for the merit of this bs...
Yeah a good majority of 40k fans dont know anything about lore, its mostly from memes and tabletop.
Lol I said the new blood is. Not the majority of old fans obviously
TTS 💀
Lore is fun though, and I think more fans should delve more into the fluff
We've over 35k people in this server
The new blood is definitely not here for lore lol
Been pretty consistent with saying the new blood and influx of people
How many of them post in here
Yep, have a genuine conversation with the average 40k fan you'll quickly see they know absolutely nothing aside from the meme lore which isn't actually true
Compared to meme chat
Hell
Literally was not talking about the server, was talking about the 50k community as a whole, and he new blood joining that...
This is a facet of that community
Now I feel like m purposely being misrepresented or yall are twisting what I'm saying.
The lorechat is fairly active, but pales in comparison to the now dead meme chat
I'm out enjoy yalls day
The TTS speech series probably got more people interested in 40k than actual lore videos because it was funny
I've seen this reflected in every 40k server I've joined
I liked TTS but yeah it was definitely a blight in some case or not 💀
very glad Alfa stopped and is doing Hunter now
Cato Sicarius' rep will never return
I liked it while it lasted but Hunter is pretty good
But you also said that the new blood is coming in from YouTube videos, when a lot of those videos can be pretty inaccurate, they're a great introduction to the lore for someone to then go and research and discover more by themself but most people don't do that, they watch the video take the memes at face value and then go around acting like it's true.
I need to start reading Damnos ugh
I also learned from that show that everyone was apparently shipping Kitten and Magnus the whole time which is uh, strange but whatever

~~
I'm frankly shocked a gay ship even happened in 40k media??~~
Hunter is much better than TTS, much less silly joke and more of an actual show
Its not uncommon apparently I just never saw those two as more than friends (?)
Any people interacting = shippers somewhere
~~I haven't really seen them outside of horrible primarch stuff, and Celefax gets hostile reactions for whatever reason
~~
Unfortunately true
Ooof
I like the Hunter series because I can go hehe they're afraid of vampires
Their inaccuracy doesn't matter in terms of getting people interested in more media about 40k. Literally can't tell you how many jumped between trying to learn more. Leutin, Wes, one man, TTS. Anything I cold get my hands on that I vibed with. Later learned a lot was incorrect, but at the end of the day is where my journey began and it made me super interested in the story of the setting, which was different from just about any other out there. This was like, 5 years ago. That hasn't really changed.
I like Bricky and the Adeptus Ridiculous stuff is fun, but the number of people I've met who think the story about a group of orks charging the Imperial line immune to lasgun fire because they're all shouting "I'm a tank I'm a tank" in unison, is a true story that happens in one of the books is worrying.
Just because you made the lore jump doesn't mean everyone else is
I like bricky and hate and despise all his 40k content
Lots of people stay in the meme category
It's like
Yea I'm not saying people don't do what you did, but most people don't
💀Shovels
Literally it does. Whether it's accurate or not, It is displaying 40k and driving people to it.
Funny, because in that same bit when Bricky is talking about that, he says "This is probably fake but its funny"
I like the Dorn ngl
Personally none of them, mainly because they all, save for maybe one, has the same boxy look and while its a fun silly design, it doesnt immediately appeal to me
banesword
Stormlord is funny because I can put lascannon crews to give it more anti vehicle punch
Fellblade is cool
Tough call between the Sororitas tanks, either Immolator or Exorcist
It’s worrying because if enough boys get together and believe it’s true, it will be
It isn't
In all seriousness it’s not
@tough haven I don't think that's quite true
Like... maybe if they were in a big metal box with some pipes on it that looked like a tank...
Well stop
😠
But like, I don't think they can just think their something and become that
No memes
Lol
Damn I can’t find it
The tank GW forgot about
No it doesn't, calm down
I like it, I think it makes them interesting, it’s what got me into orks
It just needs to have rules more clearly explained lol
It does
But it’s part of their charm
I think they mean more the extent people believe it can affect things needs to die
It's literally what makes them unique and is a connection with their origin, i.e the old ones. And of course it's not accurate lol. It's literally reality warping magic. Of course the memes will run with it
Very good way of putting it
It makes it so things like, a gun jamming won’t happen as much
It won’t create ammo which doesn’t exist for the gun though
Ork belief won't turn a log into a gun but it will let you fire a machine gun with a bad firing pin like normal
Or actively completely warp reality
It essentially just makes their shit that shouldn’t work function to a degree believable by the orks
I was trying to find the meme that explained that but I couldn’t
Their stuff does function, but it makes it work way better
It’s a passive effect
Depending
Wasn’t there something that said their tech just flat doesn’t work outside of the field?
Krorks on the other hand likely had vastly more control over the power, but yeah that'd be the "accurate" way of portraying their reality warping abilities.
You had a big box mag and you've been firing for a while now. You've not kept count but you're sure you should have a few more seconds of fire
We know nothing of Krorks
Like their shootas don’t have the necessary parts or even bullets sometimes ? Or am I wrong
And what they could do
Yeah
We have one description ever
@dusk patrol except they were extremely more powerful then orcs, and if the Beast is anything to go off of, their abilities to affect things does increase
Dude literally made war moons
Orks basically still got basic mechanical intuition, its the entire reason they got mekanik orks which a lot of people don't put any thought into when they say that stupid "they can make anything work."
The Waaaghfield's main purpose is to hold stuff together like duct-tape, its why the bigger a horde is the more dangerous mechanical contraptions and war machines they'll make, same with how the moment a horde momentum dies so will their tech, its all a passive aura.
