Read End and the Death
𤣠š now I just feel like I'm being consoled for a lost girlfriend. "Don't worry buddy, there's plenty of eldritch fish in that hellish sea!"
Lol
I wonder sometimes if the Imperial Cult wasn't the Emperor's back-up plan
If he can't starve the warp of any worship, intentionally direct it all to himself instead.
I don't think 40k fractured emperor becoming god and 30k dark king god would be the same
There's some implications
In da nu book
Also Star child theory is back on
Yeah I'm actually hella behind on my lore >>
Yup
Wouldn't doubt it
Heh
š¤£
Oh all human souls would most likely go to him lol
Like the Eye of Terra visible on Horus' battleplate?
emperor being offline for moments should be a feast for chaos in terra
Weāll see if uh

Itās a good fate or an absolutely terrible one

My bet is on terrible
Mostly since chaos god
Gestures vaguely at the alternative
The question is, will it be bad or less bad for humans in general?
Worse imo
Worse short-term
The imperium would shatter
There is never a good outcome to an eternity as a cruel God's plaything
Into infighting
the setting is: then it got worse
And then no more warp travel
Long-term I have no idea honestly, too many variables and unknowns
And also the emperor might just become even more comically evil
and for human souls?
Imagine a sparrow carving a rock out of a mountain with its beak to build a nest.
Prolly eternal damnation.
Instead of just being eaten like rn
It lays eggs, they hatch, and its children do the same
The cycle goes on and on for millions of years until the mountain is leveled
That is the first second of eternity
the guy is feeding with human souls already
That is the power you give chaos over your soul
Ehhh, who knows. Slanesh has to be fun at least some times
You become a part of that God
bigger emps with bigger appetite
If you're lucky
What aspect would then the Emps be?
Humanity
What is the topic?
I guess
I thought so
He's be the good and bad aspects
Per new stuff
He'd be the Chaos God of Ruin or something
The emperor in life was the good and bad aspects of humanity
He was a warmonger, but also an artist
I think it'd just be that 10x
You are discussing if the Emperor is a chaos god?
Yea
what kind of chaos god he would be
and how his realm would look like
Right, but like, what would his aspect or in dnd terms portfolio be
Like Khorn is war, nurgle plague/death, slanesh....
Human Supremacy
āHUMANITY FIRSTā

@dense salmon you said this already, chaos crab was asking and I'm curious his answer
?
Referencing this, I answered then Venus responded again lolol
Nah, the situation just got better, we donāt need to save her
chaos god of conquest, greater demon rhino
Nw
Also, chaos cult gains power
And itās good

@normal light @dense salmon I actually don't think humanity, because Slabesh doesn't embody the Eldar right?
We follow chaos undivided
Bine of the other gods embody species
Well Khain is also god of war
Even the Taus god embodies the Greater Good, and not the tau themselves
And Khain is and Eldar god
Slaanesh isn't the god of the eldar
But they are chaos gods, aren't they? Idk much about the elders gods. I thought that were more like weapons, similar to the Ctan
@normal light
Nah
There were lot of them
They straight up say what the Dark King is guys, it ain't a secret anymore
until slaanesh nommed most of them
Before Slaanesh eaten most of them
Slaanesh is the god of excess
I wonder if slaanesh is still digesting the gods so to speak
The same way they were in AoS

With elf souls
Casual Slaanesh meal
Right, but like, they arent the same as the Chaos gods, and aren't warp based right? I really don't know
They are warp based. They are the concept of excess
All stuff like this is warp based
They were birthed by the eldar but they are a concept that always existed
Even Khain
Ahh ok.
Eldar are an exceptionally warpy race
They are to warpy shit what the necrons are to physical reality
Yep thanks to them I can enjoy EYE OF TERROR
So like, then again. None of them really embodied their species then. They all embodied concepts the Eldar valued and whatnot right? Life, death, wealth, magic, experience whatever
I think the implication is they were planted by the Old Ones
In like the Asurmen book or something?
My point is, I dont think the emperor qiuld flat embody "humanity"
It would be something about us
I'm telling you he'd be the God of Ruin
Maybe a lot of things.
He is the best candidate
I read that as "femboy humanity" and I got a bit worried

Brain rot
Slaaneshi brain rot
I get that, but I mean no other being works like that
They all embody qualities and aspects
God of Bad Parenting
He'd be the Chaos God of Ruin
Chaos god of child abuse
I'm dead š¤£
Because he ruined everything?

Being a parent
Winning a civil war
Restoring humanity
Mystery of what?
Unpopular opinion: The Emperor is Malice
The Heresy and like all the speculation around it
He spoils the mystery
And thus ruins it
Since there's unlikely to be a satisfying ending
Malice got summoned to realspace once
So canāt be him
The sanguinius mystery?
The emperor is the anathema
Blah fiiiine lolol
Malice poor creature
Malice deez nuts
Was me being stupid mostly
Shame what happened to the Alpha legion
Deserved
Nothing happened to the alpha legion
Nah these are the questions that spark debate
They were fighting how they were prepared
Debate can be healthy and good
Honestly that's why I do it mostly lol
Challenging your own assumptions in an interest is the way we learn
I know a little about a lot and find I learn more by stirring the pot
It's like poetry, it rhymes
"When you want an answer to a question, shout the incorrect one into a crowd and hear the response"
Lake Laogai
Or schizophrenia
in 40k it's typically the opposite

Say the wrong answer but make it so funny people just believe it
And then telephone game it for 20 years
Say that it is from the meme
This chat is your brain creating people with similar interests to fill the viod
Cato sicarius had his street cred irreversibly annihilated by TTS
Ultramarines are the best
He doesn't even read that bad
Fight me
Blueberries shall die
"I, Cato Sicarius, knight champion of McCragge, claim this meme in the name of Guilliman and the Emperor!"
It's like, way better than the usual Nick Kyme crap
Alpha legion wanted what was best for the universe, no?
God no
No
They were also traitors and thatās all
Cato sicarius recently had his stories improve
They wanted to achieve their own goals
They were deluded morons so far up their own assholes with schemes that they didn't have breakfast without twenty five different, unrelated handlers signing off on it
Werenāt they traitors because they thought by doing so, Chaos would be ended?
Alpha legion doesn't even know what their primarch wanted
And their primarch only thought he knew what the emperor wanted
Ah
That was the prophecy the cabal gave them
It thatās true they are pretty freaking stupid
But by the Siege they're doing their own thing
I guess it isnāt a shame the
The alpha legion is over estimated, when really they have no idea what they are doing anymore
@normal light if that's the case, I'm honored to be among the many voices your brain conjured up. Btw, just wanted to know if I could put in for a better simulated reality? This is a rather dingy house I live in and I'd like to move on up to a nice 4 bedroom? Whatdoyasay?
The idea was that by supporting Horus they'd make sure humantiy dies
Thus starving chaos of it's most plentiful food source
Nah you get what you deserve
Ah... the imperium
But wouldnāt that be a good thing for the universe as a whole?
Or was that just wrong overall
The only real problem with the ultramarines was GW making them the paragon of all space marines
"What every chapter aspires to be"
Ah⦠THE CHAOS GODS⦠Be grateful you donāt live in a pit full of some weird stuff
And the characters were pretty overpowered
I'm theory, but after their banged up operation on Pluto and the death of Alpharius, they seemingly switched goals
laughs in Black Templars
Like honestly reading their books in that time you'd think Cato and calgar could solo the fucking horus heresy if they were there
Very helpful

Look good sir, I do good work for you. Please keep the weird door in the back closed. The weird gurgles, moans, and slurps I hear are enough torture.
I'm about to read Fall of Damnos once I have time
So be it, keep serving me well and I might reward you
I need to finish my necrons before i order my knight
I am thinking about finishing my Chaos Legionaries which will be not fast
And getting some enemies for them
Maybe loyalist marines
I need to do art but exams
Same squad
Nah 4 months in the future I will be in your situation
You dont need to do art, at least mine rn
Do you think ciaphas cain could have killed that world eater if he didn't have jurgen's help
Probably not
They're older books right?
I wouldn't be surprised if he did but iirc in the scene he was able to just hold his own long enough for Jurgen to pop up
Even so, that's an insane feat
I recall getting goosebumps reading it
When the world eater leaps at him and swings his weapon at ciaphas
And ciaphas says "that was his first mistake"
Tingles
Who's the narrator
Audible subscription gives you credits that you can spend on books, cheaper than just outwrite buying books
3 credits a month iirc
I can't really afford the sub either
1 credit is good for 1 book
Maybe once I clear my cooms

š
The cain series is old but only a few bits are outdated
Like the necron pariahs
And sometimes Jurgen being a blank is a blatant asspull
"A cup of recaf" comes to mind
I could go for some recaf
Recaf is still a thing no?
I mean the short
Jurgen's blankness works in ways it really shouldn't sometimes
But jurgen is so loveable despite his ugly mug I'll give it a pass
My headcanon isn't that he's actually ugly, his pariah gene just makes him physically repulsive to normal humans
Random guardsmen witnessing ciaphas duel a space marine and show more interest in a cup of tea than the 1v1:
It was guardsman from Praetorian Guard
Everything is correct
One of my favorite things to do is see if people make a custom lego minifig for x
Pretty cool
Random thought, it'd be cool if like, actual music was made for 40k. Not thematic music, like in universe music. I'm curious. You know with all the trauma and war and stress they have to have some awesome street musician types. I'm thinking like pipe drums, some wire strings, and synth shit. Maybe like a futuristic version of this.
BTW you're welcome for being dated you old bats
I have high hopes for the new Cavill show. I really want it to showcase more of like, the actual life of people in the imperium.
Hmph, would be interesting
I think I recall seeing this when I was younger, no way am I old
That's almost two decades old brudda
If not more
Would the emperor have eventually either thunder warrior treatment or some other way have phased out ogryns from human mutations(?) if he had succeeded
Or would he have left them as is due to their usefulness
Most likely would have thunder warriored them
There was a heavily implied possibility he was gona purge marines
As well
Kinda sad but I expected it
This is the correct answer, but we all know there ain't no way the lovable brutes are ever leaving
Actually are ogryns mutant humans or are they like their own unique species at this point?
They're abhumans
Abhumans, so evolved humans
no completely, stem and root
like the thunder warriors, the empire's transitional period would have progressed far enough that they would become an active threat to it
I see
which kinda got proven with how many chaos and traitor marines are floating about
he said humans should govern themselves
^
It's like when you unlock a new unit in an rts you purge all the old ones to empty the unit cap
lol
True
The heresy proved his point pretty much lol
You make superhumans, there's gonna be a superiority complex brewing there
yeah like even if there was no Chaos Gods the marines would have still caused some secessionist war
the primarchs especially were the biggest root of the issue
(primarchs wouldve been purged too)
When you say he wanted humans to rule themselves, is that still under his rule, or a return to 20th millenium and before
Under his rule
Okay
KEK
Man he just cannot help his case š¤£
He is never beating the allegations
Le part of the plan
also
in a more "realistic" setting
where the Emperor wasnt braindead
he'd have just made Custodians the generals of Imperial armies
but if he did that we wouldn't have a cashcow Horus Heresy series

He made the primarchs because.... uuh you wouldn't get it (all part of his plan)
When I read 40k lore I simply pretend Horus heresy doesn't exist. I'm like "wow horus? What a mysterious character. I wonder what happens to him."
in the best read of the setting as is, theyre the right tools at that point in time, like when you're nailing a house together you use a hammer, but once its fully assembled you put down the hammer and nails and pick up the paintbrush
Yeah pretty much
horus heresy was better when it was an ancient event whose records have been largely lost to time
It's more interesting that way tbh.
you think a marine ever called emps gramps
(it was created so that GW didnt have to make more than one army for the Titanicus boardgame)
Like trying to piece together events in the hersey from the nightlords trilogy is far more interesting then reading about how Mr nightlord boss man grabbed onto a space ship and flew into a dark angel ship
It was actually all part of GWs plan to discontinue Imperial Armour
Tzeentch is the CEO of Games Workshop
I'm really late, but I'd say it wouldn't actually be under his rule. Going off the propaganda at least, lol, he was hidden among the masses for all of human history with out taking over. Maybe after shepherding us through the storm, he'd go hands off again, and truly let humanity lead itself.
Maybe all of this was simply out of necessity
Maybe
But weāll never know lul
So malcador sent a planet into the warp with grey knights on it or so Iāve heard in a podcast
And Iām wondering, could the eldar chief super nerd(eldrad?) do the same thing to terra if he wanted to
Or would slanesh just rip him apart as soon as he started to flex
Possibly, because super-psykers in this setting are only restrained by plot
so its very Yes/No depending on whos writing it
I feel the emperor would contest it but not sure how it would turn out
Lol
I wonder what would fix him, more books or information on him or ignoring his existence
I'd say yes and no too. Because you got the emperor's body there, it's a toss up what happens. Could be he sits idle and nothing happens and humanity gets shit on. Could be a warp storm the likes of which nobody wants happens and humanity gets shit on
Since I know a lot of dudes donāt like him
Eldrad?
That nerd
Lmao yeah theres a lot of nerds in 40k
but basically again, it depends on the plot
like 40k works on the logic of "writers wanted it"
"Why do we have a new Imperial Guard tank?"
"Writers said so"
Like... I know it defeats his purpose so bad. But some day, when Warhammer begins to inevitably die, I need to have the Emperor's actual biography released.
We already know a lot about his origin
the only missing bits are what he did when he was a Hittite to 30k
Right, but I want the full damn story rofl
I kinda want to hear the thought process behind his choices
All the way through
@crisp heath this so much tooo
Master of Mankind and End and the Death explain most of it but its really not that deep
he also suffers way too much from Too many Cooks Syndrome
Bleh, I still want it darnit!
I feel like explaining him though does him a disservice
I'm a 40k nerd. I'm dumb. Spell it out for me
He is an unknowable being
So far beyond anything we will ever be
Basically just humanity to not rely on the Warp and become a Psychic Raceā¢ļø
thats more or less entirely it

Lol look, it may not intrest you, but idk... with all the theories and stuff, I'd say there's a lot we don't know about the Emperor. And also, I just think it'd be dope if it was dictated from his perspective. I want to know his actual thoughts, not the representation of them by someone else remembering what happened thousands of years ago. I want the emperors words and memories and thoughts. And in some sense, I want his justification. I think it'd be dope. But I also know that will likely only ever happen at the end of warhammer 40ks life, if that ever comes.
Iirc he did have discussions with malcador and some primarchs about pursuing arts and architecture
After the crusade
But that may have just been performance
Tbh
It could have just been purging the āproblematicā ones
Anyone who didnāt take that up
Corvus was all for the idea of primarchs and marines being euthanized
As sad as it is, people like angron have zero purpose outside of warfare
He is a terrible leader and by no means a great thinker
Even Kurze has some merit as a peacekeeper
Lol warhammers Batman
Angron being euthanized would have been a mercy
"Fear will keep them in line."
If that's batman, does that make Sangy boy Supes?
Mortarion didnt like the emperor and would have likely rebelled eventually
And tbh, he didn't seem the type of guy to thrive in peace
Neither did corvus
Corvus is like space che guevara
Sanguinius is basically a very blatant Jesus metaphor
I can see it
and just any generic christian angel
Jesus/archangel michael
Venuz can probably explain it better than I can tho
So, yea... he's supes lol
With a seasoning of dracula
Sanguinius is overtly angelic
Yeah the entire purpose of the holiday is also "he died for our sins"
Yeee
hes not really subtle
He represents the emperor's wrath and the emperor's grace
Much like angels in Christianity
He's a powerhouse but he didn't enjoy war
So we got batman and superman. Where's the rest of WH40K Justice league
Jesus is a messiah of peace which is why the comparison isn't exactly 1:1
Lol who's Martian man hunter
But there are Christ-like undertones
Or fly
if only
Well, he did kind of fly
I mean, he might have flown
You don't know how he walked on that water lolol
Kidding, kidding
Sanguinius is a lot like biblical warriors like Samson or David
on his last day on earth, he instructed his followers to make disciples of all nations, before he ascended to heaven
Yeah even his death artwork is very "slain angel"
his death in the new book is much worse
@winter vessel ayy, that works too. But... I don't think Sangy boy was acending like that after what happened to him
Yes, He didn't die. He simply went to heavenb
Sanguinius deserved better
Literally how I felt when I read that bs
He didn't know he'd lose like that
He foresaw losing but knew he had a chance to win if he fought perfectly
Ain't no way in hells high waters
According to the new book
he had to face Horus and knew it
he wanted to defy destiny
and win the fight
He actually kicks Horus' ass and makes him drop to a knee
then uh
we learn Horus wasn't even trying
That.
and he beats the shit out of him
Fucking. That.
Horus said "light work, no reaction"
Starts sipping the chaos creatine
And gives sanguinius the most humiliating and brutal ass whooping ive had the displeasure of reading
Sanguinius couldn't even say his final words
Yep.
He beats him so bad his face peels off like a mask, Sanguinius cant even say any defiant words because his blood is clogging his throat.
If you want more christian imagery once Horus turns away demons come to nail Sang's body up.
More an avatar of the ruinous powers than himself
and extremely delusional
Sang getting such a brutal death is befitting of a warhammer character
He basically beats him like a dog yeah
Many good people die humiliating and disgraceful deaths
I mean... like... it's better than the pedestal endings that always happen... but like... they couldn't have chose a different moment to do some shit like this lolol. I'd have rathered the vampire bs to this. My baby boy Sangy damnit!!!
It's fitting though
Sanguinius was always fighting an internal battle with his dark side
Fitting up my craw with sadness and depression, yes
Lolol
Kidding mostly
I get what you're saying
A lot of the primarchs had minds suited to advancing humanity beyond war
Magnus, Dorn, Guilliman, and Perturabo being notable examples
Vulcan and Ferrus too
Dorn especially was not a fan of war, preferring statues, paintings, and beautiful architecture to gun batteries and fortress walls
Fulgrim without the Laer blade would've been top tier leader post great crusade
Dude turning every world he could into paradise
same thing with Magnus
Agreed. My only gripe with him is he seems the type to make arts for aesthetics rather than soul
Curze being judge
"Your honour! Jaywalk..."
death
He can't make things for the soul, he's incapable of not making things perfect with his art
Curze sees all crime as equal
He has a completely binary view on good and evil
If you litter
To him, you're as abhorrent as a murderer
And he will absolutely flay you to make you an example
If you might litter, he'll get a vision about a possible future where you do so and kill you as well
Yes
So not only is he absolutely draconian
He has uh
The fucking
Whats that movie with Tom cruise
Where they see future crime
Curze also believed the other primarchs were as fucked up as he was
So he was not really a fan of the emperor, his brothers, or really anything
Curze was the EPITOME of copium
like hes right but also like
you literally flayed a girl committing suicide
you got no ground to stand on you piece of shit lol
cry me a goddamn river

Curze's biggest sin was saving lorgar from corvus
I've met someone that defended curze before
Insanity plea lol
Curze being euthanized would have been a mercy he welcomed
Perturabo's pursuits were pretty ehhhhh
This guy literally allowed himself to be decapitated to prove a point
Oh no, he grew up in a city with PEOPLE
Meanwhile there's primarchs who were first exposed to the world in lava lol
He locked it all away for his own satisfaction iirc
It's hard to sympathize with curze when you read how he tortured vulcan
Was Corax the one embedded into a cave somewhere
Corax grew up in a prison moon
Corvus grew up on a prison planet that were serfs to a techno-aristocracy
Curze had a fucked up life
I'll personally go to and shoot anyone who defends Pert
He lead a rebellion and nuked the people who oppressed his
And when I say nuke I mean like
Giga hiroshima
Same
Yeah I know he grabbed the nuclear arsenal stored on the moon and sent it
Which makes him being a loyalist that much funnier
I thought he only sent 5 nukes but knew where all the nukes on the planet were stored
big ol sympathetic detonation
Im sure if corvus knew that the galaxy was at peace
He would have elected to be euthanized
He's a rebel
And a freedom fighter
"I despise tyrants, fuck tyrants!"
"Omg Emperor hiiiii!"
If he has no cause, he has nothing
He still hates the emperor
the whole bit where Corvus could see the true emperor's body cracked me up
like he's just normal ass lookin dude lol
The sisters of silence canāt talk bcs big E doesnāt want to do his hair
Or wear his armor
No one can know the secret
Big E and corvus had a pretty somber, fatherly relationship iirc
ya know there was like that one sister that broke their vow, but I guess they were talking to another sister so I guess there wouldn't be a point to be like "so you've seen the emperor right"
Corvus just saw through big E and knew what his real purpose was
It's sad, comparatively corvus is a pretty good guy but he is a soldier and nothing else
probably send him to another galaxy and start purging for the Imperium once again lol
Ravenguard got the coolest successor chapters tho
Space Sharks, Death Specters, Raptors
He could have been a good tool for dealing with the inevitable chaos problem
Like a vanguard during the webway project
maybe that was step 2 for Big E, send his boys into the eye of terror/webway and just wreck carnage
Since 40K is "our" distant future, I like the thought that tanks in the modern era are looking to be replaced/phased out and then they bring them back far into the future
Or that swords are as big of a thing
It's parody of the British empire
In real life we stopped using swords not necessarily because they weren't effective, but because they gave away whoever was important
During a great deal of the great War, a sabre was part of a British officer's uniform
So a sniper would just look at who had a sword and dome them
Nowadays are uniforms are much more uniform and we don't salute in the field
"Herschel, das bootlicker across ze way has a polished svard, go and shoot him ja?"
Pun absolutely intended
But close quarters combat was definitely a thing in modern warfare, so knives or any fixed blade were effective
Also swords, bayonets and clubs are just all over the place because one they are cool and every book makes sure to have people vs people end up in raiding buildings or defending buildings with tight rooms
Yeah the rule of cool is the real reason
Dune has complex lore for why most combat is with blades
Because duels are cool
My biggest issue is why are there not more shotguns because every guants ghost book seems like if they just had a meltagun in every squad a lot of problems would be solved
I just finished dune 4 god emperor of dune
is the AdMEch entitled to all tech discovered by the Imperium or is it only forgeworlds and archeo-tech?
Rn I'm half way though GG11
But God dam dune is so much more interesting
40K is literally just action movies
There's a lot of beuracracy in these things. Most branches of the imperium will have an admech liaison
Authority can be argued
For example, the ordo xenos will handle technology that isn't known to be of human origin
Technically everything
Realistically
Itās a large majority of it
Blood angels managed to royally piss off admech by snatching couple stc
Also the baal predator
They don't use widespread shotguns because the guard primarily does trench warfare or otherwise longer ranged fights
And the lasguns are so absurdly common and standardized that they can drop them around like dirt
ya the bickering between Hadron and Hallowette is what makes me ask.
Veterans can also use them
Navy uses shotties way more
But krieg engineers are def the famous one
Navy breachers also get them, but they have the benefit of being able to go to a planet and ask for them and get ammo
I kinda would belive catachan also makes decent use of shotguns
I would not drop a lasgun if I were a guardsman
The punishment for losing equipment is death
I'd lug that fucker with me everywhere
Athonian tunnel rats love shotguns
Lasgun is like ak. Perfect for conscript abuse
But theyāre a hive warfare specialist regiment
So itās sort of a no shit situation
In tabletop the lasgun sucks
But in lore
The lasgun is a powerhouse
Durable, powerful
Easy to manufacture
Lasgun still sucks in comparison
But itās strengths
Are much more aparant
Thing is a very good weapon
Saying lasgun is bad is like saying m16 is bad because it cant destroy tank
Guards enemies are just something more fierce
It's not good because one can kill someone, it's good because you can mass 500 of the things
Love Dune's reason for it
"Why do we do melee"
I love shields
That is a blessing for soldier
Lol
As a soldier
genuinely so hilariously realistic
I'd rather lug around an m4 than a bazooka
Something not heavy as fuck
And also something that just works
I mean i was able to carry 50 cal in army. I didnt as much enjoy it
Isn't it just "shields stop fast moving thing (bullets) but not slow things (shanks)"
It is but lasers cause a nuclear explosion
On both ends

^
The shields cause a reaction with the laser weaponry which causes a nuclear detonation
Yeah its fucking funny af
every fighting army from then on just agrees to melee
since you cant take the risk
Itās illegal to use lasers on shielded targets
Anyways lol
Beyond it being a stupid idea
Harkonnes be like
"Its fine ill use killer bee-drones."
I really now want bolt pistol to darktide to round up my sergeant veteran
No lie
Bolters would be invaluable weapons in dune
They're basically handheld artillery
We are getting close there
And old-world artillery is what house harkonnen uses to catch atreides off guard
German weapon manufactorer has been building handheld full auto grenade launcher
Also anyone who breaks the convention of don't nuke people is simultaneously nuked by every other great house or political force because they all own satellites full of nukes orbiting every other planet
Fallout Moment
@storm jungle think Daniel is taking bits from this ancient bit of Lore?
Oh boy, and one of the dawn of fire books ties into star child as well?
And Dan is also connecting these last books to the twists in Eisenhorn
Yeah
They blow limbs off
And cause horrific burns
You wonāt bleed out
But itās gona suck even more arguably
People call lasguns weak without realizing getting burnt to your fucking bone is irrecoverable
They're capable of taking heads off fairly reliably
And I mean
Removing it from your shoulder
True
Won't stop a nid
Or like weak orks
Lasguns are weak against marines who specifically have highly heat resistant armour
But will absolutely stop a person
Or something of similar physicality
Especially a big ol firing line of them
The tau fire warrior being bisected at the waist by a lasgun
Fire warrior armor is pretty good akshully š¤
Itās about equivalent to carapace
Pathfinder armor tho
Yeah that guy is cooked
But flak can save you from a lasgun shot
Maybe 2
By our standards flak armor is insane
Itās just in 40k standards itās the equivalent of wearing another t shirt
Save you from stub guns too
Isn't most armour irl not worth dick against 90% of weapons
Itās for shrapnel mostly yeah
Even bolters suck against power armor
Dats a lot of DAKKA there is
Or small caliber fire
During the horus heresy the legions had to modify bolters to fire powerful penetrative rounds instead of high explosive ones
Plasma guns trump pretty much all armor
Point being flak armor would be a life saver irl
Even if in 40K you might as well be in a shirt against some enemies
Be a catachan
Lol
Have muscles so dense it's as good as flak armor
So what Guard issue armament could at least bruise an Astartes? Bolters? Las-cannons? Plasma weapons?
most everything
Everything that is special except heavy stubbers
Like plasma, melta
lasguns can kill a space marine if you're either good or lucky and hit a weakpoint like the helmet lens
Heavy emplacements like auto-cannons
Shred marines on impact
Or they forego the helmet because sometimes theyāre that stupid in regards of head safety.
Concentrate fire and use krak
Krak grenades, heavy artillery
Guard can kill marines fine
A human pattern boltgun is not doing shit
The method isn't the problem typically, it's more that marines are fast and do shock warfare like crazy
But a heavy bolter emplacement would do fine
Yeah a marine is often described as a blur
And they are naturally so intimidating it has a named effect
Theyāre very fast
They are deceptively fast
Terminator units slow down a bit but
They have the armor and firepower to compensate
Not like bullet time fast but like
Actually hitting them while shitting your pans is difficult
But if theyre in a bad spot they'll go down like anyone else, they're far from invincible
Theyāre fast lol
Yeah marines die all the time
All you need is the will and firepower
Some of the weapons in darktide could do the trick
Power sword, thunder hammer, plasma gun
I mean you'd have to have some serious balls to try to kill a marine with a sword
Crusher, force swords, most of the staves, the Lucius if aimed right,
But it can be done. I mentioned ciaphas duelling a world eater to a standstill
I completely forgot about psykers
A psyker crushes a marine like a soda can
Technically the Kantrael also counts but we don't really have a power setting option
space marine armor dont protect your head being boiled alive
I forgot what book i think it was Dark Imperium but uh, a young psyker kills like 5 marines with super-speed rock throws before some other squadmates kill him
if that doesnt tell you how fragile marines are idk
šŖØ
The astartes miniseries isn't canon but
it is canon now
Deserved
and the creator went off to do his own stuff
yea when he got hired to make the new series
The first thing not the second
Heās still cooking
Astartes 2 sometime this year
Prolly
then no more after that
because he literally COMPLETELY
dropped warhammer stuff from his patreon
which fucking sucks
well it's not like GW doesnt already own the rights and couldnt just do astartes 3 under their own power
(like thatll end up well...)
TBF it's also deserved
yeah I meant more that the guy doing it had his own style etc
After Sodaz
Space marines are a step above regular humans but someone with enough skill makes short work of them
Now that I think about it
Cain had no way to kill that world eater
He had a laspistol and chainsword
Neither of which do shit to ceramite
Its very much a David/Goliath situation yeah
Thank Juergen
to quote Agent 47, even the strongest chain has a weak link
inquisitors are also in the category of unaugmented human who could conceivably kill space marines
He could've done it with the chainsword but it was taking his all just to not die
Now Iāll never know what become of that Lamenter at the end of the teaser(is probably dead from being ganged up on by Orks)
The marines generally have one big weakness that anyone can exploit
Between marines and humans there's a gap larger than just skill
They are very comfortable fighting regular mortals
Too comfortable
They can be surprised
And that's them being in massive power armour and being able to leisurely tear normal people in half
a lot of people also assume like Marines are Agents from the Matrix
lmao
Strength, more powerful brains, a lifetime of combat experience
Really? I thought more of a custodes in terms of reaction time
Yeah like
Redundant organs
space marine librarian
or move lightning fast
Custards also die in droves tbr
they're difficult to kill
I leave that to the Golden Banana Heads
The only things that really live up to the rep are psykers and primarchs
What if a space marine learned gun kata
Predicting where bullets would go mathematically and avoiding them
That's what custards do iirc
Math heavy precognition lol
There mum was a test tube.
genestealer cults stay winning
If a regular human is a 2, a guardsman is a 5, a space marine is an 8, a custodes is a 12, and a primarch is a 14
Example: the custodes that got his head turned into a soccer ball when a norn emissary kicked it off his body.
The gap isn't necessarily linear math
Like im not implying a primarch is 7 humans lol
Nah frankly I'd say a primarch isn't even numberable
Depends on the primarch
The custards escorting guilliman realize they're basically just there for show, Bobby can handle himself absurdly well against non-big enemies
Lorgar and guilliman are by no means weak, but they're not the insane combat powerhouses that a lot of their brothers are
And a lot of daemons too
In a 2v1 guilliman was nearly killed a dozen times by curze
To the point he thought him being there was a detriment
Still way above custodes as a base though
Agreed
Khanās a good duelist. Angron is the embodiment of a lawnmower on a grass golf course.
A 14 would be someone like Abaddon imo
Angron might be a physical powerhouse but he has no tactical thought whatsoever
Exploit a bad move from him and he's finished
We see in Fall of Cadia that a custard Trazyn brought just gets beaten aside by him instantly
Yeahhh abaddon is pretty nutty
Literally he talks to this ultramarine praetor guy, chops him in half
Then runs towards creed and casually beheads the custodes mid run
Abaddon wears terminator armor like it's just regular power armor for one
For two, he was naturally fucking huge for a marine
For three, he's on that chaos creatine
Juicing for 10k years
That custard was beating up black legionnaires while barely breaking a sweat, and then the floor gets wiped with him in less than a second
ALSO
Abnett being Abnett
made up an entirely new thing
Custodes can literally send thoughts to each other using
and I quote
"""Neurosynergetics"""

What does that even mean
Biotechnical telepathy
Pheromones would have made more sense
Tau moment
You know if guilliman is a 10 in combat, fighters like curze or sanguinius are probably like
30
Maybe higher
It'll never not be funny to me how weird wehraboos adore and love marines while entirely missing how fkn gay it all is
I enjoy the camaraderie of it all
I call close friends brother or sister and mean it in a very familial way
So I can relate to that aspect
Krieg is the best Guard Regiment ever
did the kriegers pay you to say taht
they don't pay, they demand...by force.
they're the best guard regiment until you have money to buy vehicles lol
Is Krieg really the best guard regiment?
I mean it seems all they are used for are bodies
i wish you could hear how hard i enunciate the f in fuck no when i answer that question
there is no best guard regiment, they all excel at different things and have wildly different standards and tactics
kriegers usually never have disciplinary or morale issues so they excel at drawn-out sieges and wars of attrition
they're also very zealous
but you can't fight every war with a trench
cadians are an insanely effective fighting force namely because they're trained with their squads from childhood
they have very high standards for their recruitment
catachans weed out the weak just by living on their homeworld
only 50% of catachans born make it to the age of 10
50% of those make it to adulthood
it's less of which hammer hits the hardest and more which tool is right for the job
but just being a guardsman is already being like
the best soldier humanity has to offer
50% of the 50%
Ok
now if we're talking tabletop meta
catachan is probably one of the worst guard regiments you can choose
krieg has some advantages but someone put it best when they said they're a poor man's armageddon steel legion
catachans just need new units and new rules tbh
I mean no disrespect, but Krieg favouritism seems like just a bunch of larping
ehhh
it's 50/50
some people really genuinely enjoy them
others, just the idea of them
they're popular for a reason
even people who don't know much about 40k know about krieg
Krieg is a wehraboo magnet
That's what I meant
Every online interaction I've had/seen in the past month dealing with em seems like it
meet some 40k fans in person
They know exactly 2 jokes
i know a great guy who plays krieg
i learned a lot about painting from him
as far from a wehraboo as you can be
I'm not denying the existence of normal fans, but they appear to be in the minority
i think you're dealing with a vocal minority of the fandom who have a weird love for ww2 germany
Hope so
Yeah
though admittedly GW isn't doing themselves any favors naming helmets DEATH'S HEAD
I made my vet guard kill team with as many field caps as i could and painted them bluish grey to make them look like ww2 finnish uniform
Pics? Sounds nice
that's pretty cool
i want to get a 3d printer to make my own guard regiment with morion helmets
probably just go with standard cadian/guard rules
I dont have on my phone but ill put em at some point
I only miss that i didnt try to make them drum mags
Older family friend I know 3D prints em
Has had it for like 2 years now and has had a blast printing a bunch of stuff

This is my duty
