i thought genestealer models were entirely necromunda based
which to be fair is not an unrealistic expectation considering necromunda is basically the only 40k game with cool models
I mean Gene cults are a huge problem in 40k, there’s a few big ones on Holy Tera even
terra is such a shithole
Concrete saw vs custodes skull
just push it into the sun and get it over with
Terra is a shithole, but I’m not sure a 2nd Eye of Terror is better
i really like how scrappy genestealer cults are
God I love that artwork
you can see one of the cultists on the right holding a fucking mutated baby too
gross as shit
You gotta hate bring your daughter to work day sometimes
It’s a perfectly normal and cute baby wdym
Bit big for their age
But looks normal to me
💀
Baby's me fr fr
I like the tiny genestealer hanging off the standard
The lil familiar
it’s like a horrible shaved monkey
It’s a goofy goober
Rips a guys eyes out of their socket, “I’m just a silly little guy.”
I love that the lil baby broke the necromunda meta on release
More void king spoilers
||GSCs are terrible at void combat lmao||
||okay the kamikazes are working well in their favor||
Really don't want to finish Descent of Angels its that good guys
ok so ive consumed everything 40k lore wise on youtube i think its time to actually purchase some books. is there a general consensus on where sommeone should start?
So do you want a imperium book or
Chaos
Eldar, dark eldar Ect.
Are there space brentonnians in 40k?
If we count horrifically oppressing the lower caste but still saving them, Imperial Knights
None of the French aesthetic
But very much all in on the medieval chivalry part
They also have those serf mini knights as well.
Savant having a dream about Zola. Is this her past, or something recent?
one of the lines implies she was mind wiped
yea but she, remembers her past in the torrent, unless the mind wipe is really recent
so this could b referencing the instigator
its not really spcificed how it works so it couul be thhose memories of that event was wiped
"Lion: Son of the Forest"
Literally the most Brettonian-coded book BL has ever published for 40k
imperium. probably the start or the heresy. idk where the books start in 40k timeline tbh
40K timeline doesn’t have anything really in order for it. If you want modern day imperium I’d recommend eisenhorn or something. Assasinorum Kingmaker is nice but I’d only read it if you wana learn more about the assasinorum and imperial politics
Vaults of terra series is good as well
I have almost 0 intrest in HH so i can’t recommend anything in good faith
Probably
Really? Usually the least liked of the DA heresy books
GW likes reusing
anything more about the like founding of the empire on earth, the thunder warriors and first astartes ecet
Oh that’s all Horus heresy era
Or it’s more that they are both knight coded
Then uh
oh ok. well then HH stuff
Some are. Knight worlds all also have their own cultures and shit
its new to me
The first 5 Horus Heresy books are good, but after that it... not great. Some gems hidden in a trash pile.
Bcs I have no clue what’s good
Yeah that
Is what I’ve heard
hmm. some further research is in order
Sure, but if we're looking for 1:1 comparisons
I'd say they're pretty close
Valdor is what you want for that sorta stuff. Has the first deployment of the astartes in history and all
Some dark angel stuff touches on it as well
Crusade is probably the largest collection of that sorta stuff
The black books are very hard to get tbf
Actually book 9 is pretty easy. A digital version is like one of the first search options.
If anyone is willing to sail the seas
ok. now what would yall reccomend personally to someone as the first 40k book to read
Honestly I started out with an anthology
And it shows off the imperium like pretty well
Vaults of terra is very good
Imo
It really shows off the imperium
Yeah here we go.
vaults looks like it would have to be an e book. the others ive put on the list. anthologys are good as well for shorter reads
lol amazon will do hardcover on demand for like 300 bones but whos gonna do that.
thats a popular book as well silence but dan abnet is the only name i know ive heard before
Guys, why can't we have speeches from 40k or killzone in real life?
Because real life is lame
The last time we had a speech like one with creed, or scholar visari from killzone, we had a world war
eisenhorn
written by the best 40k writer
delves into multiple factions
is good
can i introduce you to our lord and savior
the master of mankind
horus heresy #41
No thanks I'm gay
That's the guy
Also don't burn me at the stake but
Eisenhorn is just the buildup to Ravenor and I won't accept it as being the main course
both very good
I was actually surprised by how good Dark Imperium was
I still need to get around to reading the updated version of "Inquisitor"
But the question was for a pure beginner, specifically Brettonian flavored
My first 40k rec is always "First and Only". Honestly one of my favorite war novels ever, not just my favorite 40k novels. If you really want Brettonians in space, I have to double down on "Son of the Forest".
Ok I have a rant about First and Only actually
Near the start of the book you have that flashback scene
Where Gaunt helps capture a heretic psyker
and she gives this huge ominous prophecy about how he will have to gather his "ghosts" and hints that he'll stop some big Chaos plot and shit
So I knew it was a series and was like "oh ok that's going to be the main hook that connects all these books together"
And then it's resolved in the first quarter of the book
so like
what the fuck
Also how are you going to name the man "Gaunt" and then make him look like Chad Chadly in official art, the whole time I was reading these books I was imagining this dude as somewhere between a skeleton and Twink of War.
How does the Necromunda gang members compare to Imperial Guard? (Generic one.. no Deathcorps or Catachan stuff)
And I don't mean the whole army... I mean like, 10 vs 10 or something of that sort. Comparison of equipment, weapons, armor etc.
In what department equipment, way of warfare?
yeah
Inferior to Necromunda's actual guard regiment
i'm only familiar with house goliath they favour extremely heavy weaponry
but literally the other gangs also have crazy shit
but lore wise the necromundan gangs are generally inferior
as an actual fighting force
despite sometimes having way better equipment
The Necromundan Spiders got called in to contain a genestealer infestation
A gang no matter how fancy is a gang
because the gangs and PDF were being overwhelmed
TLDR the fact they're a gang shoots themself in the foot as an actual fighting force
So, in a nutshell they often uses better gears but the lack of training and cohesion becomes a serious issue in a combat scenario?
yeah
they're fine in like literal gang warfare and skirmish's
but in an actual battle they aren't going to do great
Yeah like deploying them in actual battlefields will be a death sentence
Gangers often join the IG after a while
And we still don't know the origin of Spiders, but we can assume that they contained House gangers
Are there any PMCs in the Imperium?
What if those gang members vs more famous penal legions (for example, Savlar Chem Dogs) ?
Vann Saar iirc are noted of being often made into special weapon crew
There IG Regiments that are owned by private companies like Rogue Traders
Savlar chem dogs are genuinely a cohesive fighting force
there's a reason they're famous lol
Like they're genuinely a force to be reckoned with
and have an incredibly decorated career as a regiment
The Chem Dogs would beat the Gangers at their own game
oh... I thought penal legion peeps are mostly just meat shield that got pumped full of aggression inducing drugs.
But Salvars are the best Penal legion
Just realized there isn't any examples of early grey knights using cataphractii or tartaros armor just refitted for their psychic abilities before aegis Terminator armor
Vulkan in the aftermath of the Istvaan V Drop Site Massacre:
Salvar's aren't a normal penal legion explictly
They're in lore a match for normal regiments
And they also don't have bomb collars
calling the Salvar chem dogs a penal legion is like calling a Shotgun a Pellet gun
Its technically true in the most pedantic way possible
Yea coud just be personal opinion. I do feel the fat man part/space shuttle scene is a cop-out
How do they ensure their allegiance then?
The same way they do with normal Guardsmen ?
Also promising them they can loot any gear they find on the field
really good deal

But.... it's a penal legion, people here came for committing crime. Morality is clearly not part of their curriculum vitae. What's stopping them from shooting each other for said looted gear?
a good bolt gun to the brain usually solves that problem
they were founded as one before being reformed to be a proper guard regiment
Also the punishment being sent back to Savlar which is a dogshit planet.
They also actually pull operations with precisions
penal legions are literally sent as wall of expendable flesh
Also you can literally be sent to a penal legion for anything
our characters in Darktide end up on the prison ship/penal legion for saying they dislike corpse starch, getting accused by an asshole noble for something they didnt do, etc not all of them are hardcore "criminals" considering how shit and evil the Imperium
yeah you accidentally sneeze in front of a very good statue you can be executed
accurate
The executions will improve until morale improves.
I didn't move out of the way fast enough.
- Random Commissar, prior to the day his quarters blew up in a tragic explosion
Another day in the guard

Such a shame those foul greenskinned infiltrators slipped past our sentries and set off the ammunition dump that had been temporarily moved to the Commissar's tent.
I'll miss those melta charges
Cannot believe he fell on those charges like that
ohh yeah we also stole like 5 of the tanks stationed to guard one of the flank points
Damn lootaz
We'll get em next time.
I desperately need Bobby G and the lion to fight side by side together
Yoooo
Looks like the 3 like
Alignemts
Will be
Cult
imperium
Chaos
Or cult may just be your own thing
Maybe Administratum/Trader
Ministorum/Faith
Chaos/Chaos
Where am I able to find pariah nexus?
When is that coming out again?
December

Ngl, the more I think about the Emperor the more he gives me vibes of the ArchAngel Uriel
Defender of his garden, as merciless as a demon, Giant Ass Flaming Sword
I guess I should emphasize before the Heresy turned him into a vegetable
If it helps the Emperor disliked being seen as a messiah as per the last Siege book
this of course is entirely to duct-tape fix the fact that he hated religion yet looked like jesus

And yet he did everything possible to look like a god
YEP
That is entirely the uh
authors trying to fix this plothole
lmao
"No no guys he did it because its easier to sway people this way, not that we forgot to explain why for 20 years."
Also when you mentioned he looked more Turkish actually also fits in with Uriel, the only Angel I’m pretty sure described as pale is Michael
So for all we know other angels like Uriel could’ve been more olive in skin tone
yeah the Emperor is actually tanned
people assume hes white and get very mad when you correct them on it
💀
He's a Hittite yeah
Reminds me of Jesus
Yeee
I bet Emps is actually disguised as Dilara rn
Nah, Dilara is not stupid enough
wow thats actually a really nice thing to say

Anyway time for me to act completely out of character and time you out both for a week because the plot said so, I'll explain why I did it a week later once an author explains my reasoning behind it.
My reaction to that information:
If it's for character building I'll accept my burden
Don’t worry you’re gonna have one hell of a redemption arc
"I must act like a moron because heresy has to happen"
“Hey grown man who I refer to as my son, would you like to drop your entire kingdom you spent years building up to act as my guard?”
“No-“
“TOO FUCKING BAD”

I legit hate people defending that stuff ngl
"Oh hes too far removed from humanity"
Too far removed from good writers more like
People seem to forget that above all else
Despite his absurd visual appearance
The Emperor is still human
He’s flawed like one

And he's as dumb as one
I like to think that each Primarch is meant to represent an inherent flaw in the Emperor
Defending emps is like going into a star wars community and going "Palpatine just wanted to bring peace and order to the galaxy!"
Mfw Palpatine has more points towards being more defendable than Emp’s
was it Legends that the whole point Palpatine took over was to defend the galaxy from a possible massive invasion or is it just a fan theory?
Local man doesn't want to be seen as a god, presents himself as a golden glowing giant with super powers
He needed something to do
Man’s played both sides so that he came out on top
Then just sat in a chair all day

And defending the Emp's backstory is the same as defending Palpatine's return
the sequels aren't worth even talking about
I can’t blame him it’s fun to do
If Skyrim taught me anything
They had so much potential though
100%, absolutely floundered
U N L I M I T E D
POWEEERR
Smite my beloved
Sequels?
My dude the guy gets revived like 3 times in legends lel
They had the exact plot point of the new emperor being a clone set up
Legends probably had actually explained reasons at least
Legends was pretty stupid
But it had a cool bit or two
Like yeah the sequels are pretty barebones and not better but Legends was hardly a paragon of lore
I don't remember the name of the books, but I remember one where a God of War (God of Soldier or something like that) that would appear in armies and make friends with soldiers and teach them
Before dying/disapearing, which then started cults/groups that followed his philosophies
I think that would have been the best way to guide humanity
At least the prequel trilogy felt like a 3 part tragedy
Yeah
Meanwhile each sequel film feels so separated from the other
I think sisters of silence could see how emps looked like but I don't remember exactly
If the Emp woke up or rejuvenated or whatever you wanna him showing back up and saw the Imperium today, how would he react?
Prob not kindly

Yes, strong enough Blank could
Did the Emp even actually hate Xenos in general?
Emperor TTS in a nutshell
"What. The. Fuck."
And then a custodes has to explain it to him
Ironicially he might be okay with it now and start playing up the god angle
We have no clue
But his super atheistic idea failed horrifically lol
When humanity is so reliant on servators they turn their god into one to act as a gps
The emperor’s story is meant to be tragic right?
Was leading humanity to greatness but it all fell to ruin
Darn, I dont wanna have to subscribe to something lol
Yesnt
Its meant to be a tragedy
but you aren't meant to empathize with the man himself
because he's genuinely a horrific person
yep
I blame Erebus
Tbf Erebus wouldn’t have made his love had the Emperor not, well, been the Emperor

Like if Erebus got caught and smoked by Loken, the only Primarch who would've been corrupted by chaos would've been Fulgrim, and I doubt any other primarch would've followed him seeing how degenerated chaos is
I’m pretty sure Angron would’ve still gone down the path of chaos
The issue is a lot of the traitor primarchs would have still gone traitor.
What with the Butcher’s Nails and all
They were all horrible people lmao
Morty being miffed the Emperor made him ditch his resistance
Angron probably would've just died from the nails before that
Magnus being, idfk what Magnus does
The true reason for magnus falling was Horus mis-informing Russ when they burned prospero
but Curze, mortarion, angron, perturabo and fulgrim were all prolly gona fall somehow
The Thousand Sons were still Loyalists even as they were besieged by wolves
Russ was also a braindead moron but the fandom likes stupid vikings with wolf pelts so he gets no flak at all lol
Yeah Russ was absolutely stupid for that
"oh, Magnus won't talk to me through his spy, I guess it's time to glass his planet"

What bout Alpharius
The legion I feel like is forgotten the most
Alpharius prolly would have gone traitor as well

considering his entire motivation
was that The Empror is going to damn humanity originally
TLDR the heresy would have happened still
just with less daemons
and smaller
Imagine Lorgar being Chaos's champion
feel like whatever traitor legions involved with that would get 2nd and 11th'd
Magnus certainly wasn’t flawless, but who the hell except Russ would think Burning Prospero was a good idea?!
Curze and Angron really shouldn’t had been allowed to live
He got ordered to by Horus
And then the thousand sons started mutating Enmass
So he went fuck it

The wolves most famous for ignoring orders, suddenly decide to follow orders
And make everything worse
It was an order from the emperor

Technically
Horus spoke with the authority of Dad
Russ being dumb is a feature, not a bug
Bad character is bad character.

Himbo primarch
The Lion punching him in the face was the best thing ever
The real lesson of the Horus Heresy is to not get stunted manchildren(Primarch) and emotionless sociopaths(big E) anything resembling power
Guilliman is alright tho
Dorn is the Dilf primarch
Tbf to the primarchs
Didn’t they all get yeeted into the unknown by the chaos gods?
Ergo a lot of their personality came from nuture?
granted they were still from the gene seed of the Emperor and we all know how he is

Hey boys, i was wondering.. why there isn't much fights with Slaneesh? Is she weak or something... ?
No tabletop faction
Slaanesh is the least focused on chaos god because often times their greatest followers are too busy doing something else
They're are set to get something soon no ?
Also they don’t have a tabletop faction other then daemons
Slaanesh is prolly the like
Second or third strongest god
Pre great rift
Emperors children are 100% the next faction released
The question isn’t if, the question is when
the emperors children are usually too busy having fun in fight pits and duels often times
The largest group of them are busy putting themselves back together after the War of the Spider
Because they managed to nab some custodes for Bile at a great cost
doing what 👀
Emperors children enjoy fighting and drugs mostly
They like the world eaters have fighting pits
A lot of their warbands are small
It varries
Excess in anything really
Food, sensations, drugs, sex, violence
Sound
Slaaneshi cultists enjoy excess in different ways
Yeah it usually goes from basic pleasures to hellraiser hedonistic body-torture/horror
My birthday presents are usually my money being taken away 😎
Ive just gotten drunk for my birthday the last couple years
I usually work lol
I'm about to enjoy my birthday in two days...just gonna sleep
I have to ask, but after Fulgrim's return, who is most likely to be a returning loyalist primarch beside it?
Supposedly
Khan
But I heard that 3rd hand so
Grain of salt
I imagine they'll try to do primarchs with codices instead of just
Colour scheme chapters
It’s gona be Russ
Because space wolves have their own codex
Blood angels have a dead primarch, Dark angels got theirs in 9e
Death watch have their own codex but are a mish mash
If it isn’t Russ I’ll drink nuln oil
ferrus manus
Damn, Fulgrim could not let it go, even after 10,000 years.
Do Custodes get recruited? or all of them are from when Emperor was not cosplaying stephen hawking?
They still “recruit” children aka nobles of terra offer up their babies when asked
Live Papa Nurgle reaction:
I have a feeling in the long run destroying Cadia could end up backfiring on chaos.
How may I ask? imperium nihlus is heavily chaos controlled now
According to the 8e, 9e and now 10e core rule books
The imperium is firmly on the back foot
Idk where to ask this question, but the dregs say something that id like translated pls xD it sounds like "Motasfar Nurgel!" or something, what is the "motasfar" part? i know i got it wrong but it roughly sounds like that
Man, Fists of Dorn have a pretty solid colour scheme. Hadn't seen them before.

This is what you're talking about at 0:50, right?
Quotes said by the Dreg Gunner.

I think they're going to take Slaanesh out of the setting like they did in AoS and replace her with Vashtorr for the sake of the Great Game, then use that an excuse to make all of the slaanesh factions less overtly smutty as they're less influenced by her, because apparently a big reason why Slaanesh and EC hasn't gotten any attention is bc they don't wanna lean too hard into the sexual vibe and the overt nudity on some models
Khan or Russ, probably Russ. Vulkan is possible but he causes so many problems from a narrative and power scaling standpoint that I don't think they'll go for it
Wildcard but I actually wouldn't be surprised if we got Corvus/Russ (bc of the norse mythology theme with Odin and wolves/ravens) or Corvus/Daemon Primarch Lorgar as a dual release
I'm gonna make the assumption it's probably Dark Tongue, sounds slimy and Chaos-y. Considering it's said if the gunner is about to do friendly fire, it's probably like "Move out of the way for Nurgle"
Then the internal conflict for Fulgrim could be that the EC are trying to free slaanesh but Fulgrim lowkey doesn't want to free them, but still wants to carry on pillaging and doing hedonistic shit, but Slaanesh's influence is much weaker and he has to face the fact that he actually enjoys this shit whether slaanesh is involved or not
They didn't take Slaanesh out of AoS they literally just got a huge range refresh last edition
regarding Slaanesh
the hedonites of slaanesh were a big part of AoS 2nd edition
second largest of the 4 monogod factions in Grand Alliance Chaos
Yea that was it! thanks!
Yes but now the orks are mostly focus on thier "Maw of Gork and the chaos pouring out of it and considering it gave the Nids a mini stroke when Cadia fell well I expect they will be focused on the Imperium for a while.
There’s a ton of daemons flowing out of it mostly and daemons aren’t something that chaos loses in battle
Also the nids are eating their way to terra presently
Chaos is very much having a good time
Yeah each passing second chaos gets more and more snappy with it
It’s pretty explicit the fall of Cadia and the great rift opening is a major victory for chaos
Soon it will be the Orks.
In the rule book
Orks are always having a good time
Nah, Orks already won the setting
They have enemies to fight and the worst it gets the better enemies they get to fight
I mean Admiral Spyre has returned, Angron is about to get his ass kicked ...Nurgle's garden is burning and gillyman is untied the imperium one planet at a time.
Admiral spire in canon is stuck in nihlus
Fighting for his fucking life
Also nurgles garden didn’t get fully burned
Explicitly
It got damaged but that doesn’t mean shit
It’s going to regrow
Tons of people take that excerpt at face value
Or haven’t read the fucking book
Which has a lot of important context to that situation
Bro where else would he be this is a dude who spends his days pissing in abbadon's soup .....OFC he will be in the thick of it....also they are about to lose another champion when Angron gets his ass kicked.
And also it doesn’t matter how many times angron dies because he comes back in eight weeks
Also you know battle fleet gothic 1 isn’t canon right
Admiral spire isn’t nearly impressive as he is in that game
Still an impressive commander but nowhere near the level he is in the game
Angron can keep on dying for all khorne cares
He’ll be back in eight weeks always
Yea but Gothic 2 is ....and that means this absoluite unit spend several years in the warp and emerged with his mind instact so he is where he is supposed to be and all that meeans is Angron is going ot be spawned camped.
Gothic 2 isn’t canon except for the beginning
And also spending several years in the warp and remaining sane is like
Pretty fucking common
Yeah and if khorne is particularly feeling spicy he can just give him an extra buff because you know why the fuck not
And also angron can’t be spawn camped
Because khorne can plop him down
Wherever he wants
Tbh technically enough blood shed can also just straight up summon him on the spot most likely
The same way you can summon blood thrusters that way
GW is pretty explicit about the imperium getting fucked in the ass recently
They’ve lost every single warzone conflict
Yeah personally i think khorn out of all teh chaos god's has the most power to spare
Most of the white dwarf battles
Because he is constantly getting empowered with the current state of the setting
And are on the back foot overall
Yeah khorne is
The strongest chaos god at present
According to the 9e codex
Tzeentch was on top for a bit
Yeah which means that he can just make more demons and not really worry about it because his power is getting replenished a lot
Because of the psychic awakening
But currently it’s Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh
In terms of their comparative power
From most powerful to least
Khorne will get ganged up on in the future with the current states of the setting
Like remember Tzeentch when he got too powerful got knockdown a few pegs
Yeah
Khorne is absolutely gona get fucked in the ass by the other gods soon
The same way tzeentch did during psychic awakening
The issue is that after the fall of Cadia the crusade ground to a halt.
That doesn’t matter
The black crusade didn’t need to keep going
The amount of damage chaos forces have done already is staggering
The khornate forces at Warzone Octarius had an absolute fucking victory over the Imperium
Vigilus is barely hanging on
May I remind you what happend to the Taui.
They had 90% of their territory conquered and they fought it all back.
Also the Nachmund gauntlet is mostly chaos controlled
Its been 3 editions since the great rift, if GW wanted to start giving the Imperium major wins they would
except they haven't lol
GW very much wants to use the Imperium as a major punching bag presently
Nihlus especially
Well duh they are setting it up for the big turnaroujndf.
they really aren't
the Tau got all their territory back in the same campaign book
lol
The Imperium have been consistantly losing in every campaign book
the only thing that wasn't a total loss for the Imperium in 9e warzone books was Warzone Nachmund Gauntlet
Arks of Omen was a total Chaos victory
Warzone octarius overall was a Tyranid victory with Imperial forces getting slaughtered en mass
There is sitll tthe indominus crusade.
Warzone Charadon was a Total chaos victory with Forgeworld metalica and the Charadon sector being crippled
It also did not help that the book where the vote was decided the tyranids straight up decimated them by playing tricks
The warzone books are about the indomitus crusades battles often times

Warzone charadon got reinforced by a portion of the Indomitus crusade
They lost
They are setting up for Gazgul to sweep chaops.
Nachmund Gauntlet was a loss despite the arrival of Indomitus crusade forces
same with Warzone Vigilus
Calgar might as well be dead
with how much Abbadon fucked him up lol
Besides the Emperor is pulling himself back togehter.
Necrons is also starting to wake up more and more
I didn't mention Warzone Pariah nexus
because thats just Imperium getting slaughtered compilation

There's no minor wins for the Imperium
its Necron W after Necron W
Yeah probably the most dangerous Cryptek is starting to get his experiments going
actually there is a minor win, the Imperium managed to take out one of the pylons
at the cost of 90% of the crusade fleet
Silent King cutting a planet in half was funny as well
to park his ship
Look they are setting up for the Death of Yarrick at the hands of Angron and then Gazul sweeping chaos.
Literally lion already did that
Sure he definitely struggled but he kicked Angron well enough
Arks Of Omen Lion should have just been named Arks Of Omen Vashtorr wins
Even so the battllines have not changed Vigilus is still in Imperiuym hands.
Why does the Daemonhost have 3 different voices? i assumed its a nomal human -> gets possessed -> demon gets mad kind of thing?
as in asleep -> awake -> angy
The psyker is possesed but still in "control" mentally when its "asleep", when its "awake" the daemon is more in control, and then when you aggro it the daemon is in full control
So stalemate LBH Age of Sigmar 40k would be career suicide for GW.
they're not going to AoS 40k
Oh that makes sense
because 40k actually sells well
and also
the Imperium losing 99% of nihlus isn't a AoS situation
imo
I also heard when its attacking it also says things like "someone stop the voices", the same lines as when its asleep. is that the human trying to take back control or just the demon mimicking?
could be either
Hate for age of sigmar is still rooted pretty deep
yeah that also lol
The daemon could be mocking us
or the human could be breaking through for a moment
damn i like this lore more and more
Its freaking huge that's what i know so far
Its all the voicelines from the game that got me interested in the lore. and now the lore made me more interested in the voice lines
Even space marines struggle with demon possession sure they have better chances of survival because of their super human nature but even they still have to admit that getting possessed by one is not a pleasant experience
So its more of a mentality thing? or does physical strength help?
Tbh getting possesed by a Daemon is usually a one way trip to damnation
for the average psyker
Its mental strength entirely
what about a below average psyker
Definitely mental strength
They are designed to have unbelievably incorruptible will as much as possible
or some other horrific warp predator
Like the wasp things that lay eggs in your "brain"
Yeah and things like bets and alpha would be the best 4 course meal in their life
a properly trained high level psyker is going to put up a fight against a daemon trying to eat their soul
The more psychically powerful you are the more tasty you are
yeah that also
That's why eldar souls are basically one-of-a-kind treats
can ogryns also be possessed or is it only for those with warp connections/psykers?
Their naturally high psychic potential makes for delicious meals
Yeah you can use an ogryn for possession
But i have extremely weak mental capacities compared to that of a normal human so i think the demon is going to take control very easily
But of course they can still win
i'd Give control to the demon
So you can force possessions on others if u can? even if they cant use warp stuff?
well have fun being an eternal torture slave at best
it doesn't matter if you co-operate
the daemon just wants a "friend"
read: (meal)
Yeah you can tie down someone, and just summon a demon to live in the body
radical inquisitors
Are very famous for doing this
odds are thats what the Moebian 6th/dregs are doing rn
and i assume only "Tech priests" can do that? or any psyker with some experience?
Oh? what are they
they're "normal" humans
They're just normal humans
just very religous, very augmented
But they have so much implants
That's literally it there
They are just priests for machinery
idk this guy looks pretty human to me
The only magic they are casting is shooting a plasma gun to your head
I thought it was a fancy name for a non rogue psyker
The adeptus mechanicus is their own faction
fancy names could include Primaris Psyker
Tech priest comes from there
They have their own weapons and their own armies
As a matter of fact they are very strong in the imperium with the amount of technology they have
comparable to?
And they have one of the higher standings of power because you don't want to offend the guy who makes you your weapon right
they're smaller then the Imperium
but they make almost everything the Imperium uses so

Let's say you accidentally berate one of their officers say good luck to that ammo supply that you have been waiting for for sudden disappearance reasons
lol gotcha
They might be smaller than the imperium but they make a lot of tech for the imperium
i will never disrespect any of them
So anyone can "become" a tech priest right?
But to be a psyker you gotta be born with it?
yeah
technically you can use the warp without being born a psyker
but thats sorcery and usually requires making deals with daemons lol
Yeah and i'm pretty sure witch hunters don't really like that
yeah no sorcerers are kill on sight lol
might sound funny, but is that like dark magic territory ?
or all warp stuff is dark magic ish?
by the Imperiums logic all warp magic is dark magic
Sorcerers aren't born with it though and are instead consorting with the vile forces of chaos
also technically a psyker can become a sorcerer
Yeah willingly learning the powers of the warp is basically dark magic
Psykers who are born with this powers can be used to utilize this dark magic for the greater good of the imperium
but thats more of a boost to their existing powers
Khorne also explictly hates sorcery in 40k and not psykers
which leads to Khornate Psykers being a thing
is a sorcerer someone that learns warp stuff?
Oh so a psyker that trains themselves becomes a sorcerer?
Yes they become sanctioned psykers
Oh wait sorcery is only like trading with demons?
Trained and trusted to use their powers for the emperor
yes
Sorcery is explictly rooted in chaos in 40k
Yeah you need help from outside sources to become a sorcerer
Being a psyker is just basically being born with mana
Sometimes you get shit mana just like being able to bend a spoon or something
theyre hated for something they're born with technically?
But sometimes you can literally grab a fleet of warships like a f****** toy
not even technically but yeah
they're hated for being Born as a psyker
Psykers are ostracized
Yeah they are very feared because with their power they can literally be used as a portal for demons to enter in
Also fun fact all the psykers we play as in Darktide are unsanctioned psykers lol
I mean you can straight up comatose them and use them as a battery
We all start as prisoners yea xD
Not a single one has undergone soulbinding
which means they are very very volatile lol
What is soulbinding :D
Isnt that how they made the monstrosities?
You get your soul filled up with a portion of the Emperor's psychic might
to help reinforce your soul
Wow that sounds like such an honor
so you don't randomly fucking explode/get possesed/die from warp exposure as easily
the process is also described as the most agonizing thing possible
i wish my sould was filled with the emperors psychic might
and comparable with being tortured to death
Do psykers seek that? or do they get forced to do it?
Did any do it willingly?
is it bad for the psyker in any way?
well
it can just straight up kill you sometimes
if your body and mind can't handle it
xD
I mean it in more like this
This a psi titan, it has a pilot that can control the psychic output of the psykers that are literally hardwired into the machinery to power the weaponry
oh literally a battery LOL
Yeah the pilot is a blank, which basically shuts down psychic powers if you're just near a blank
They can control the output of the psykers
So like a walking EMP for psykers?
Yeah
is it a mechanical advancement or is it more warpy magic?
A Blank, also known as an Untouchable, a psychic Null, and a Pariah, is a Human who possesses the rare mutation sometimes described as the "Pariah Gene" that makes them generate no psychic presence in the Immaterium, thus leaving them essentially soulless
Basically they are just soulless
They are incredibly rare
Ah so gingers
tbf Gingers don't give off an aura of revulsion
Also the fact that most blanks end up getting killed by their own parents is pretty tucked
It’s evolution or a mutation
Of some sorts
Blanks technically still have a “soul”
It’s just inversely charged compared to a normal soul
Blanks are born with no connection to the Warp at all, their presence completely invisible within the Empyrean. In fact, the minds of Blanks can actually somehow sever the connection between the Warp and realspace within their local area.
The result is that a Blank dampens any psychic or Warp-related powers occurring within their aura's area of effect. A psyker standing within the Blank's range will find their powers weakened if not wholly nonfunctional.
The Blank themselves is immune to all direct psychic effects. However, a psyker could still attack a Blank indirectly by using their abilities to telekinetically launch a projectile at them.
Oh so like a negative charge, and a psyker is a positive charge
Yes
And being a normal human is being in between
Not too bright not too dark
What about the Emperors 'psychic might' thingy?
Did he conjure it himself or also channeled from something?
Emperor is a psyker
It’s channeled somehow
By other psykers
We don’t know how
The emperor is a psyker, but he is incredibly powerful
He can change hid form from a girl to a guy no problem
So technically he can be possessed but he's so strong no demon can do it?
Yeah
Yeah, he could basically he just vanish demons with pure psychic energy output
Oh mob psycho 100 stuff
Does that inculde his current state?
Or is he still mentally alive?
You mean his current state where his condition is worse than mister house?
Not really, he can provide powers on his followers thanks to getting worship by people
Saints are a thing after all
So worshipping is essentially giving him powers?=
Hell there is even a space marine legion that acts like demons
Yeah, belief is quite funky in 40k
Act like demons in what sense?
sry for taking so much of your time btw :D this is new/very interesting to me
They appear of thin air when needed
Their bolters have infinite ammo
Their bodies are literally on fire
And they are quite blurry
Like it doesn't make sense looking at them
So more like energy than a physical body? or is that just a trait?
if i remember correctly, they use the warp space to teleport?
yeah demons can use the warp as an entryway to real space
And these guys have been shown to show something similar
the space marines i'm talking about is the legion of the damned
wow
the imperium can pull a lot of things out of its ass to win a fight trust me
Now i understand why some ppl were arguing about us fighting a space marine
Winning wouldn't make sense
Space marines are an elite fighting force in the first place so fighting them is going to be very hard
Ok unrelated but looks alike
that sanction redacted target we kill in that mission
Is he also a traitor of some sort?
i noticed that some equpment from the imperium are being used by heretics
and i assume the plasma gun is one of them right?
that's a common thing
Rebels and traitors have access to the same weaponry the imperium has most of the time
Well thanks a ton for all the explanations and the cool keywords ill be googling later :D
had lots of fun talking lore
Now ill be slaying some heretics to ease my fervor
have fun
Blank was an interesting one to find out about
hold here
Blanks, also known as untouchables, pariahs and psychic nulls[1], are an exceedingly rare type of human mutant that possesses no presence in the Warp. In fact, their brains actively blot it out, which disrupts psychic phenomena in their vicinity and renders them immune to psychic powers. Only humanity naturally produces blanks, though blanks h...
If you want to learn more about blanks read this
Sweet thanks!
@arctic talon thank you as well btw! really appreciate all the lore info u gave me
He’s a traitor captain of the Moebian sixth
Fun fact, not only is their appearance and gear different, they also have several different personalities
So who else has been deep diving lore vids on youtube since darktide got the big change? 😄 im SLOWLY re-working my way thru luetin09's vids. Isander and koda are great too. Any suggestions for easy to listen to series?
I quite liked Bricky's attempts at explaining the lore
The heretics were imperials, they turned fairly recently
i don't like any of the lore youtubers
They're attempts because he fails at it
I don't want to shit on his work too much but I feel like he did it in one take without rehearsing or really looking into anything at all considering how much he fumbles words
Early TTS makes me want to drink bleach
Later TTS is fine
1d4chan is genuinely a shit source sometimes
The Darkness is great, weird but great, loved the Darkness introduction they did not so long ago, made me interested in running some myself
Howdy
Hi
Maybe for lore, dont remember any inaccuracies, but its great if you want a consolidated source for memes. The page on the Angry Marines is quite amusing
Greetings
It’s a shit source for lore is what I meant
For memes it’s
Mostly early 4chan humor
Yeah, i see what you're saying. If you're looking for lore, things get a little muddled with the amount of memery shoved in every couple lines
No people getting dismembered randomly as funny and awful as that would be to see on a 1d4chan page
Wasn't there mentoined a few times that ogryn are comparable to space marines, strength wise, if you stripped them down to nothing but melee it would be a close fight, raw power
Is the inquisition more ruined by their reputation in the Canon or by the memes?
Because playing Darktide and listening to some parts of Gothic Armada, they seem to be more the "Necessary Evil" more than 'straight up' evil
A chaos marine would body a single ogryn but...a full squad might be a closer bout
ogryns can drag around 38 ton chimeras and suplex a Terminator and even snap its back
it definitely got the edge in raw power but the space marine is more martially skilled in combat
Yes, there has been cases where Ogryn have just ripped apart SM
Depends on the inquisitor, sometimes they're pretty crazy, other times they've maybe got a few screws loose but are otherwise just trying to stop things from going to shit
YES..Niice so it wouldn't be too far out of the imagination that a single deathguard vs 4 ogryns would be a climatic final fight in darktide, buuut...the other classes other then psyker wouldn't fair aswell at all
Psyker does bump up the teams survivabilty
yeah but death guard are full of diseases, going near one is a death sentence, they can also just straight up eat a lot of damage I'm talking if you shoot them with a plasma gun they will just look at your general direction
Disappointed
The disease aura would be like a major debuff aoe, but it's also like...how do you balance that and make it FEEL authentic
Deathguard are a walking plague with armor of a tank if not greater and have undead style persistence and guile
Hm..any other nurgle style creatures that you guys know that would be a welcome edtion to the line up of bodys to purge?
Fatshark's said they won't do marines I thought
yeah
Yeah...i didn't think so, just putting it out there
explicitly stated that
^ ? Any ideas that would fit?
Custom warlord, daemon, vehicles
Something like a Great unclean one?
Under Daemon
we are going to die, something like a greater demon were to appear in this planet
we really have no chance
Nurglings to dile it down a notch?
I don't want to fight nurglings so I hope not
they're extremely small it's not going to be fun to aim
And with their huge number they can literally just overwhelm us for the higher tier specialist to **** us over
GUO is probably possible as a sort of gimmick fight
Herald of Nurgle..?
Just one basic plague bearer as an elite
a herald has control of an army
One of these fellows the plauge bearers, do they vary in size?
Around average human size?
Or bigger?
around 7 apparently
but do take it with a grain of salt
Or maybe Vile Savants
that could work
Yes ,cause they appear when Epidemic grows
and usually they support Poxxers and other Infested Stuff
They resemble guardsmen what's different about them?
Plaguebearers are one of the more likely additions for the future unless GW curbstomps the idea
They are Daemons
Plus there's literally a skull from one on a level
The Savants themselves are hideous, bloated, stinking creations. Once men and women but now possessed by a Daemonic virus, they wear bio-containment suits to hold their decaying forms together. These foul entities are filled with a hatred of all things that live and breathe, and retain the skills and memories of their former selves. Individuals filled with bitterness and despair are particularly prone to succumb to the disease, which is drawn to the individuals from the Warp itself. From there, the plague will spread across a world, allowing it to expand rapidly across the Imperium. Savants are single-minded Daemonic entities and seek to only spread their infection and kill all before them. They can not be bargained with, reasoned with, or diverted from their task.
Also The Daemon Plague Stages
Stage Four: Once the dead have risen in great numbers, reality will fall apart in the infected region and daemons of Nurgle will be summoned to the Materium. The Vile Savants themselves now emerge from the Warp, controlling the Fydae Strain Zombies to do their bidding.
Stage Five: Nearly all of the infected on a world are killed, while a small number of survivors are deliberately left to become new victims for future plagues. The Savants then leave, seeking to repeat the process elsewhere.
And that Vox too
Plaguebearers as Uber Elites (Like Ogryns)
Bilepiper as Special
Herald as Lord
They remind me of a more scary rendition of Manes from Dnd, however armed with a arsenal that can break lines, giving the husk like approach but not full on like boils and rot, its more a possesstion plauge but plague is plague papa nurgs doesn't care where it starts or comes from
Or that could just be the way they are drawn
I personally wouldn't look too hard past the basic units (for example vile savants are already technically ruled out by a few things such as the fact that current plague is not their strain, the methods of which the current cult operates)
Dregs are missing a lord at the moment, or rather we haven't interacted with em yet, alongside a few variants
It's also a bit strange that there's no Psyker type enemy, I'd imagine Moebian 6th would have at least a few
Feel like we'll probably see some psykers pop up
My personal bet is that they're gona be part of Dregs, someone has to be doing all these summoning rituals after all
It's be incredibly funny if we get the damn frogs

Sorcerer Lord seem like an easy choice for the next lord
Bonding conversations are specific dialogues that can rarely occur between two or more characters in a mission. Collection of all the Professional veteran's bonding conversations.

I mean in the lore they trapped slaanesh in a pocket dimension where they barely have influence
And he servants are still qutie active
Open the door
That's not my point, I'm saying if they want to refresh EC: doing the same thing to slaanesh would be a really easy way to give them an actual goal as a faction and the lowered influence would be a good excuse for them to "de-sex" the minis

😄 font fun.
Why in the god emperors name is the geller field sticky
wait- is the maulers just being a skeleton under their armor actually a stylistic choice and not just gore?
i just realized it'd totally make sense if they've basically rotted away and are just holding on via their suit of power armor
no they are still human
ah so they just dont have a face model?
it's not really needed, because that would mean making a whole new face for a variant that will just appear on random
Yes
so just making it a faceless armor guy with a skeleton face under that armor is easier
Most game don't bother to render what can't be seen, like we can't see the brains and all that, doesn't mean they don't have them
How?
How do you do this funky letters?

I wouldn't say omnipotent
But powerful, yes.
Basically
for the gore system EVERY enemy has a meaty skeleton under their "skin" texture, when you do blunt or high damage that part shows up to imply the wounds you inflicted on them.
The Mauler's thing is the power hammer strike reveals that deep wound but since their helmet is the highest armored place on their model they dont go down as easy so it remains like that hence the misconception lol
i really want the mauler axe as a weapon, considering that we just grab things on the field it's not that far off to say that we can have one
Its in the files im pretty sure
ohh nice
It was leaked yes
what a bunch of fucking nerds
And
You're here, you're also a nerd, and ashamed of it
i like adeptus rediculous of course im a fucking nerd
Come sit by the fight and enjoy the waaaaaaagh
Lore channel the best channel

You send your gifts to mars?
Damn that's crazy
Dilara has a secret facility up there, when musk finally arrives he'll be extremely mad someone made it there first

I believe this
Still wonder what could this gift be to cause Hadron to send it to mars
Could be just Hadron being Hadron
Must be something incredibly high tech
Considering that she is sending it to mars popular for its technology after all
And that's where the mechanicus lives
There's a few forge worlds she could send it to but she's sending it directly to the very heart of Mechanicus which is what made me wonder
Yeah the only thing that i can think of that value would be an stc fragment or something like that
A stc frag would be one hell of a gift
Considering gaurdmen got given worlds when they found a shard
It would most likely cause Admech reclamation fleet to swarm the place
which is technically good but also bad because they'd rip the place to shreds looking for stuff
Yeah so what type of thing is valuable enough to be directly sent to mars but not valuable enough to do something like that
A relic of some kind perhaps, Mars would be the ideal place to search the records for it while also not causing the entire cult to swarm the place it came from
Yeah probably just a mechanical relic
Are all guns (like lasguns and bolters and whatnots) gets produced in Mars by mechanicus? or all planets have a minimum level of defense industry?
Another question, the planetary governors.. Do they always get appointed due to their family lineage or awarded for accomplishment? or are there governors who were democratically elected?
First two
Certain vehicles and weapons come from Forgeworlds because that's the only place that can make em
Like Baneblades
Yeah, more basic stuff can be locally made
and sometimes forge worlds are famous for producing their own variants with the little twist
Like a product from this forge world will never be the same from that forge world
In-game we actually visit a manufactorum and see it's inner workings, which is cool
Vraks isn’t a forgeworld akshully 🤓
fair, didn't know that
What is it even now ? Transit world ?
Dead
yeah and atoman ore makes Leman Russ made from atoma have better armor
armoury world according to lexicanum
