you saw the prices for an army and you went with it without prior knowledge?
Hey back then i had no knowledge of people do what they do now
Sure if I look back it would be cheaper to buy a you know what, but I don't regret it
It's just a hobby I like so I pay for what I want, new box every month or so has made quite the army
fair enough
I understand what you're getting at though
Also if I knew facebook market place was such a banger..
Now thats a regret..
the current situation is just annoying to me. i didn't know about warhammer back when it was cheap so it feels like im being punished because of whales. Now it's at the point where even if the community started collectively not buying from GW anymore the company would probably file for bankruptcy before making the hobby affordable
Of course, its just how some brands take what they can to the grave, and now theyre picking up speed with all the random publicity it gets from whatever and whomever celebrity.
that to me is what tells me things will only get worse. the shareholders will always demand growth and you can only ask so much from a relatively niche tabletop game
like what happens if the amazon original flops?
Well, even when they do go bankrupt, what stops you from ordering fine (maybe custom) 3D printed models from pirate workshop, getting codex, well, somewhere and play TT with other people of same approach?
the lore will be dead, that's what bothers me honestly
the IP will be locked in the grave unless some company buys it
doubtful because GW will ask for way too much money
Well, yes, but it was stagnating for some time so it is natural.
Still, my point stands. With such prices as now, I don't see a single reason to buy "official" GW models when I can get whatever I wish from "non-official" sources - with comparable quality but WAY cheaper. Though, I don't play tabletop and have no plans to get into it. Books and occasional videogames are more than enough for me.
The stagnation of GW was mostly due to their old CEO and the horrible codex bloat along with the rules.
A lot of GW's customer base is also mindless consumers and their success has been massive during and post-covid
they aren't going anywhere any time soon
their success during covid is so weird to me
there's a lot of things about the hobby industry that doesn't make much sense lol
I mean no
it makes total sense
people are trapped at home and got nothing to do so they buy minis to pass the time.
its very simple lmao
but they can't even play the game
So?
A lot of 40k players dont even play the game, they just buy minis.
thats what matters at the end of the day

Ngl i dont think ive ever seen you talk in any other char
i can't believe the lore mod thinks ferrus manus is coming back to life
this must be official right since they're GW employees
Its mostly because this is one of the most toxic discord servers in existence and half of the playerbase is angry people that don't see logic in anything
like if you try to spend 10 minutes in general-chat you'll know exactly what I mean

Fair enough
I still look into other channels as a mod obviously but participating in em yeah no thanks
One step in zealot-chat was more than enough
this server really is weird huh
Nah its just toxic af
I just stay to say hi to hank
Its either hating Fatshark or hating the game
like it was fair to a certain point but just got incredibly old fast
And learn lore
in lore chat we hate GW.
we are not the same
Im just here because I love the lore channel lol
Is Stockholm syndrome counting?
YEP
"I hate this game fuck fatshark"
stays for months

I like the game
I like the game so im not that iffed by its status
To be fair, I don't hate the game. I just like the game what it COULD and SHOULD be.
the only way to start a conversation in this channel is by asking a vague question
Nah
And then back to BG3.
This entire update is basically the entire half of the game that was missing lol
Was horuses name rally horus heresy
Yes
Why would god emp name him that
I asked Abnett
not vague enough
he said "Because it came to him in a dream."
WHY DID YOU BETRAY US, HORUS?
Was the evil dude also that one guy who did that one thing with that one god
no no
this is 40k you gotta narrow the "evil dude" down
says something like:
did horus succeed?
Oh i get it now
and then cacti will respond with "kinda"
No, he is a loser. Even his first captain is more successful.
and then dilara will find a way to say no
its not my fault almost every question is dumb

"Why doesn't the Imperium make peace with xenos? Are they stupid?"
Dumb setting deserves dumb questions.
So basically lore chat is just a debate room for Dilara and cacti

pretty much
this is like the most normal chat i can moderate
helps when the people that get banned here say shit like
"genocide is good"
Sounds fun ngl
ok but that one guy who was talking about the emperor literally being the christian jesus was onto something
GOD
I was literally about to mention him
he the ngoes onto mention how he has "roman blood"
Lot better then “dead game” “erm die” from gen chat
horus heresy lore creates the wackiest individuals
Ok, time for serious questions: why didn't sons of Horus guess to put him into stasis and travel to the Emperor? When Guilliman was mortally wounded, his sons at least guessed to do the stasis part.
I want to read the bile books
Because they had to follow the script or the Heresy wouldnt happen
But they cost like 60$ more then i have
the Sons of Horus were also incredibly desperate
was it Dan the Man again
YEP
Sons of horus more like abbidon looks ugly af
I can't say much
aside from that theres always other ways
Basically what you are saying is “as a mod i cant condone theft but steal/pirate”?
Lol
otherwise id get kicked out so lol
im pretty sure that also falls under discord ToS
Oh yeah makes sense
so account could maybe also be deleted
Ok, does the fact of Imperium providing survival of Humanity in general makes it morally good in the grand scheme of things even if Imperium itself is the horrifying abomination of the regime that shouldn't have been existed?
It really doesnt
Oh wow
discord doesn't joke around. they don't even give warnings most of the time
I have the perfect meme for this
god
I hate his name
GW writers be like
"We cant use that name"
"What about-"
opens synoym
"Violator?"
"Briliant"
wait is that actually his name
LMAO
LMAO
Of course
Well, makes sense.

Oh my god im dying rn
Like, perfect sense.
so the guardsmen suicide bombers were off the table but not these guys
it's slaanesh though
Yes, but we talk about Slaaneshite marines so...
💀
if it was khorne maybe
or Nurgle
actually no that would sound even worse
Nurgle writers be like
Gw writers are something else
"Where can we spam the word Pox as much as possible"
Pox bug man lord of pox plague
😩
eloquent in pustule speak
theres so many gross words for sickness related stuff in the english language i hate it
there's even one in this server
to be fair shes based
Is there?
Yep
Oh if she’s based then thats ok
also not a stuffy old white guy like 90% of GW writers
Oh wow
shes not a big shot but still wrote for BL so
LEL
i bet he's like 5'6
god ngl reading Death and the End was a fucking slog for me
it's sad because dan isn't even a bad writer
Hes not hes just overrated af
No matter how shitty this servers members are I’ll probably never leave it
Ok, was fun conversation, good night/evening/day/whatever to everyone here.
Im in 3 servers rn
Goodnight
he's just given way too much control over such a massive IP
yeah thats my issue like
Abnett can basically do whatever he wants
its why the term "Abnettverse" exists
Im in this one, a server that hates clouds, and a server with a few friends
no single person can have such control over something like 40k. it's just too big
Its not that he has control over 40k
its more that he can write whatever he wants in a narrative
Abnett has never really written anything for the major lore
minus 30k which is a prequel so not really the same thing
yeah that's what i mean
Yeah like
we literally rae getting
3 PARTS
FOR A FUCKING FINALE NOVEL
Why?
apparently he wrote too much
and literally none of his editors do their jobs
lmao
it's supposed to be a huge event. it should have been a team of writers not just dan
Dan started the Heresy with the first novels
so its fitting that he gets to end it
the issue is its dragging
that's the annoying part
he started it but douzaine of other writers added to it
it's not his story anymore
its a mix of a lot of factors because Horus Heresy is such a fucking mess
Siege especially
i can relate it to star wars
george lucas made the first and let other directors make the two sequels
then when he was given infinite money to make the prequels it was kind of a mess
though he did please fans
pretty much
Lucas was the only victor
he gave them his IP and left laughing

now he just opens his palm and money floats down to it
Lucas does not earn any royalties from the newer movies or shows as a writer, director, or even creator. However, because of the Disney stock shares he received as part of the transaction, Lucas still sees a hefty payout due to the value of the stocks
Oh shit

now you have dan not trying to make a good story but trying to please fans of the series
i havent read the siege of terra books but i assume they read mostly like fan service
so many recurring characters seem to come back
whatever. at least i still have soul drinkers
there's something i never really understood about knights and titans
do they function the same in battle?
i don't know what a questoris knight would do differently than a warhound titan
Warhound titan is even killier and faster
Warhounds are faster then every knight varient but the uh cerastus
Knights also often time can help protect ground forces from fire with their shields
Titans sort of just don’t give a shit about anyone but their accompanying secutarii
mmh
Its mostly just a scale thing as well
The largest knight is almost the same size as the warhound lol
yes i went on forge world and saw the size
titans are bigger than i remebered
the biggest one is 2 feet tall
So what's the purpose of an emperor class titan?
Mobile head quarters, or just a imperial version of a bigger phallus contest?
More or less yeah
Its just a biggier and killier titan
Fair, though one has to wonder what the heck was it designed to kill?
"Nobody would waste that much raw material for something like that" (the Tau)
Everything that gets in its way
Something that you really just want to disappear off the face of the planet
it was designed to kill everything. IRL though it was designed to counter an ork abomination of the same size back in epic warhammer
it's so big that it will never have a full size tabletop model
funnily enough GW made the war master for titanicus
So they wouldn’t have to think about how the fuck they were gona do the imperator in plastic at titanicus scale
warmaster isn't even close to imperator size
ah
im sure they're keeping the imperator as a big reveal thing prior to launch
everybody's expecting it
Prolly
Epic is like the time to release the imperator
But I’m also not gona touch epic till I can run pure Adeptus titanicus lol
Let me use my “minis” GW
I want to step on some marine players entire army
i sense deep hatred
Not hatred
I just think it’s stupid GW won’t let me run pure titans
I want to see someone’s face when I just bring a chunk of my titanicus list to epic
Oh damn I missed all the fun convos
Following the fall of Cinderak City, a mysterious man known simply as The Prophet would lead the refugees on a pilgrimage to Necromunda’s religious capital of Hive Temenos, all while brandishing the bones of a seemingly long forgotten which radiated with an aura of divine power. But just who exactly was this so-called Lost Saint borne by The Pro...
why does 40k theories have access to fredrik
seriously weshammer has the balls to critique theory's videos even though he does collabs with people who are three times more famous than him
i have wondered if that is something on the TT, can the titans just step on smaller unites and do damage/kill them?
They have a melee profile that does a fuck ton of damage
ofc it would OP if they could just one shot things in melee
and afailk most titans are mainly for heavy fire support
Tbh with how they’re priced both in $ and points it’s pretty damn hard to make them OP lol
In Adeptus titanicus ironically titans are arguably not the strongest units
That award goes to questoris knights bcs they’re spammable
Knights with +4 invul

Titanicus is a funny game
You can just insta kill questoris tho
With some weapons
Issue is they’re cheap lol
Good thing you aren’t allowed to run just a fuck ton now, because that genuinely was boring
I tried playing against Loyalist Imperial Knight Player on CSM , It wasn`t funny for me
Something from the DAoT
Remleiz (theories) likes collabing with people alot
hes a really nice guy, talked with him a few times, he doesn't really think a lot about it
I state once again, Aborderprince and Oculus Imperia are the best warhammer lore channels
I like Ian
Maybe not AR

I require inspiration for a space marine battle
Wanna make a codex cover for my chapter :3
Commies are trying to revolt (Casual 👖 stealer revolt which is getting put down by your Space Marines Chapter)
it`s general idea
which can be used to make up a scene
Interesting way of phrasing it
for cover

you could always go with the classic "stuck in the warp with demons trying to eat me" situation
but i don't know what your chapter is best at
Ferrus Manus actually returned?! Holy Emperor, if this turns out to be true then this can really change how we should view the Primarchs, this is all brand new lore taken from the new Warhammer 40,000 First Founding book!

Thank you...
any day now....
Give him a robot skull head if he's coming back no substitutions
Primarch of the iron hands and leader of the legion of the damned? The skull on the center of his armor being a flame wreathed skull with a mix of metal cogs and metal bone his backpack of servo arms and weapons belching flame and repairing other legionnaires, with a weapon that can banish demons (divining blade in lore but that's for Marines, give him something bigger)
I don't think he'd look good with a giant sword but that is what he made for fulgrim so maybe I'm wrong
How many primarch are dead
Vulcan kinda
Vulkan doesn't count he comes back
Because otherwise I'd be saying Vulkan 50 times
What would be the stupidest torture for Konrad to do to vulkan when he captured him
Lol
Like he ran out of ideas
Isn’t vulkan gone rn cuz he thinks his sons are pussies or something
They are on a quest to find the 40000 warhammers that he left for them
No he had like 9 special items
"dead" is difficult to determine when it comes to GW's poster boys. The only primarch we know with complete confidence won't come back is horus
There are 8 special items now
Oh
and GW still brought horus back as a clone just to kill him again
Lmao
ferrus manus got his head chopped off. Dorn lost a entire hand
leman and khan both fucked off to forbidden zones
Didn’t the blood angels guy die
oh right sanguinius
yeah he dead
and probably won't come back since GW loves blood angels and their entire gimmick is dead primarch
Yeah didn’t that fuck up all his sons
yup
Love that
they can sometimes go insane and think they're sanguinius right before dying
dante is basically a primarch now anyways
Dante has been with the blood angels longer then sanguinius has lol
In Dante's lifetime the BA have been nearly wiped out 3 times
Damn thats crazy
Corax is also in the Warp, hunting Lorgar
Eye of terror
Hi lore whores
And he hasn’t been seen since the scouring
Still don’t know why peeps think Ferrus is in the LotD tbh. Like wasn’t it confirmed to just straight up not be him.
Like my mindset in the whole thing
Leave dead primarchs dead
Konrad, sangy, alpharius, Ferrus, Horus. All of the real them’s should stay dead
Yeah it was confirmed to not be him
It’s just a representation of the Emperors anger
Regarding the fire
I just like that part in one of the books where he's like reawakened as a spirit
I do prefer him not being legion of the damned tho its just kinda forced
and also not him but that as well
Any good Ork war bosses to read about? Either in books or wiki
Ghaz
Read deff skwadron it's a fucking BEAUTIFUL and great Ork graphic novel
an inspiration to me
Where can I get it?
/read it if I can for free
If it’s like publicly available but I doubt it
I think its publically available somewhere I was looking for pictures to post of it and I think someone did
Gork’s teef, dats a lotta Dakka!
Every page probably took like 2 days to draw it's SO FUCKING DETAILED EVERYWHERE
Thanks
yw
Do you think a stormcast would get into one of those slapping contest events with an ogor and accidently slap the ogor's head off?
ogre, ogor, both good
Stormcast is turning the tau into a smear oh you meant ultramarines
Yeah lol
Tough to say because both have specifics that can make them more powerful like divine boons or the space marines armor
Plus a technology difference, that makes it hard
Both naked and oiled
That's incredibly tough, I legit don't know they're both equal in my eyes, like they're both augmented humans to turn into killing machines and powerful as hell
Just one is through surgery and the other is sigmar forging them
Coolness factor its stormcast ez
That's why custodes are cool its (Almost) like the emperor forges them himself
Stormcast do have the advantage of magic backing them
Yeah the magic is a point but the augmentations are the space marines equivalent of magic, they're just balanced
Both can be super powerful or even not that powerful in comparison to similar things
Can Stormcast spit acid?
No but I bet a stormcasts fists can be cast in holy fire
Fair
So a shoriyuken is possible
Better hope it's not a Black Templar they're trying to wrastle
Plus there doesn't seem to be any difference in gender so both male and female stormcast are the same power
BUT here's the real fight
Trajaan Valoris VS Celestant Prime
Celestant Prime clears ez I may have made it too powerful
So the more accurate fight may be Trajaan vs Bastion Carthalos
Sanguinius vs Celestant Prime
Celestant Prime has Gal Maraz tho
It's all so balanced, although sigmar (AOS) vs emperor would be a big hoss battle
Each punch shattering the arena they're in
Sangui has two legendary artifact weapons
Gal Maraz is THE legendary artifact, the defining item of Stormcast, sigmar, and in many ways humanity in AoS and fantasy
That's the only thing, its like emps sword kinda but more
i think emperor wins just by the amount of power we see him wield
Again I say equal because what a god can do varies in ability, sigmar or the emperor can do some insane shit because sigmar in many ways created the mortal realms with other equivalents, same with the emperor
emperor can do galactic level of psychic stuff. even if sigmar could do that too we still don't have proof
That's because not many people read Aos books you dingle dork
He is like the sole creator of the realm of azyr, knocked out a minor god Behemat with one swing of gal maraz
I know its incomparable but its interesting
Also sigmar and the gods in generally regularly intervene in battle in AoS
They usually just throw some magic at it
Or in khornes case he just sticks a sword out a portal and smashes something to powder
I just want the two to have a brawl like a fight in baki
So they gonna make out?
possible, up to interpretation
Stormcasts have their own versions of Black Templars
who dont care about civillian casulties and are also extremely brutal

also people forget the way Stormcast wage war with almost 80% blunt weapons is pretty bad.
Imperium ain't so bad. Sure you're essentially living as an insect, but it's better than being eaten by an insect.
If only Horus didn't ruin everything
I prefer Great Crusade apologism as a moniker
and cosplaying the bad guys is fun
they tend to have more feathers
Except in WH fantasy for some reason
The Great Crusade was also bad
no ur bad
a galactic jihad that killed countless human civilizations
why because uh
"xenos cooties"
or
"you resisted"
What if humanity was disunited when the Tyranids came a-knockin?
30k has shown countless times that advanced civilizations of humans existed.
Yet the people still live in oppression and slavery
knock that fascist apologist shit outta here
You wouldnt be saying this shit if you were a manufactorum slave
lmao
you posted cringe
^
prepare ion cannon
Defending what is basically nazi-romans also kinda is the same thing
stormcast
KEK
yeah and death korp of krieg means they're all ww1 infantry. Mordian Iron Guard means they're all 1890s French
They make cool designs for toys.
Fascist imagery is still fascist imagery
and those are niche historical references
lol
Rome wasn't fascist?
the larger part of Space Marine legions in 30k were entirely roman
I've only done Caesars legion playthroughs in new vegas because I have my imaginary courier takes over legion and becomes good idea in my head, but a friend a while ago brain blasted me in the head with knowledge about the true nature and culture of the CL being unchangable despite my best hopes
Who the fuck says it was
we are talking about the Imperium here lol
benis
Their defenders are literally the wrost
You're saying plumes make it fascist?
"Enslaving women is based"
Also he isn't, stop trying to twist the conversation
I literally was like caesar legion led by courier could end slavery and all this but i was brainblasted that my idea was impossible sadly
you kinda asked for this kind of scrutiny the moment you defend anything the Imperium does lol
Ikr, weird
Its like being based on a society like rome is a bad thing
I will larp about my non slavery legion in my corner
Neither the Imperium or CL are based on Rome in anything beyond aesthetics, one way more than the other.
Kinda is more or less
That and GW are not masive history buffs beyond appearances
The Imperium functions off whatever looks cool and is a hodgepodge from historical inferences depending on the writer
Doesnt matter
its still fascist lol
I guess the literal death camps and genetic purity propaganda is not as well known in the lore lol
genetic purity in what sense? Against mutation? I'm unfamiliar with anything else in the lore
I'd imagine cancer is pretty prevalent
I'm by no means a 40k expert
Do you go into every conversation with this level of hostility lol
only if you act this dumb its ok
^
socially inhibited
shut up lol
This is like special event 15
Alright kids thats enough
Don't you know 30k horus is actually the good guy
I know I kinda started it but lets not go super off the rails now
Now let me rant for 45 minutes of straight mental gymnastics to come out|| wrong||
meh fine
no its the uh interex whatever
I've never heard the take that the Emperor himself is bad
Just how he was misconstrued post-heresy
Okay so ill be less hostile but
Its literally the point that hes a horrible person.
books like the Last Church actively point this out
"Why are you conquering the galaxy"
"Because I know im right"
spoken like every tyrant
I mean would you consider Napoleon or Alexander bad people?
Conquest isn't inherently immoral
Napoleon liberated tens of millions of people from serfdom lol
Do innocent people ask to be conquered and have their lands ravaged by foreign soldiers?
lol
Violence as a means to liberation isn't bad and people != their government.
Unless you'd prefer us to be all living as some illiterate serfs so an incredibly inbred Austrian man can demand we worship him, you owe Napoleon quite a bit.
You're seemingly more unaware of history than I am of 40k lore
Because not everyone is interested in reading european history
Napoleon was a liberal dictator who freed half of Europe from serfdom
Establishing modern law
go off to #general-chat if you are gonna be historyboos please
In a galaxy filled with other species that thrive preying on humanity, minus the Tau/Aeldar, the Emperor is alright killing everything with too many tentacles and teeth
this is bannable here lol
Except 30k also establishes that a lot of innocent human and alien civilizations also got slaughtered lol
Knock it off lol
GW themselves have said the Imperum is bad.
I'm not saying the Imperium is good.
War crimes? What war crimes?

what i miss?
Good, bad, right, wrong. All entirely subjective.
Morals are widely defined by the dominant religion(s) and culture(s) of the setting/time we are looking at.
Nah.
nothing to argue over when the subject is clear, don't drag it back up.
Why? Is it not a fascinating and important subject?
I really don't care.

For example in Rome it was considered pretty progressive that you could be jailed for selling one too many of your own children into slavery. During the time they considered that a moral judgment. Though of course now we'd find it deplorable to sell any of your children into slavery
that is irrelevent to 40k as GW who are the ultimate arbitors of the lore and its mortality have already condemed the imperium as one of the worst factions in the setting so any convo arguing other wise is moot
I don't think the authors of a setting are the ultimate arbiter of morality in it. Art is as much ours as it is the artist's.
Sir this a server where we talk about a video game based on plastic army men, and then we argue about the stories some old british guys made up about our plastic army men/video game dudes. Nothing here is an important subject
Last warning, cease.
thats why it wasnt the authors. it was the company that pays them lol
You miss my point.
nah
He really isnt
your point is just moot
that lol
Explain
You are literally saying stuff like genocide and slavery is "debatable morality"
When its evil, plain and simple.
the people that literally own the IP have said the imperium is one of the worst factions. thats that
That too lol
I'm not arguing that I find the Imperium detestable
Not the good guys and "the worst" are two wildly different concepts lol. There are tyranids and chaos cultists.
My point being that it's a more fascinating discussion if you put yourself in the shoes of an imperial citizen.
The entire point chaos thrives is because the the Imperium makes its own citizens suffer
this is like lore 101

they literally said its one of the worst lol
Its also just not
you are cheap slave labor
there isnt a morality question
Where
You say it's lore 101 but then say that?
it was after that whole debacle with the neo-nazis in that one tournament
Yes because its in the lore
You realize how many diferent types of worlds there are?
And that they are all terrible?
what are you even arguing about
I remember that, they never said it was near the worst.
Fundamentally incorrect
Paradise worlds?
A majority of worlds in the imperium are comprable to modern day earth
Oh?
you mean the worlds uh
where nobles are hedonistic pricks?
and any low class/lowborn suffers?
It's just that a large population of the imperium live in hives
and its rife with slaanesh cultists?
You do realise every world is shit right
I thought we were discussing standard of living and not inequity?
Every world is shit for the poor.
No?
i feel like this is just a dead horse by this point Everard
Yeah fair honestly
Standard of living is material
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods
This is at the opening
of
every
single
40k book
regime
As in human history.
Not faction. It's the worst humanity has to offer, but it's not tyranids or nurgle.
Do you know like
what servitors are
or arco-flagellants

Or being a daemonhost?
The Imperium rules over an incalculable number of worlds, to say that absolutely all of them are awful to live on is presumptuous to say the least.
They are all awful.
Better than chaos.
The Imperium is bad.
and even then they had to make a public statement about how the imperium is to be hated and reviled not revered. lol
You two genuinely need to read a 40k book or two.
Nah they are totally the good guys
Im guessing you kinda missed most of their point then
To tell a good story?
Every, and I mean every faction in 40k is hilariously awful
ngl i cant see the nids as "evil" hell they dont have any form of morality
Imperium is the main offender and way worse
Tyranids are just giant space puppies in a galaxy of talking beggin' strips
mfer now is gonna be like
"Actually, being a servitor is morally correct"
I would argue that the Drukari are objectively worse.
No need to play the fingerpointing game

What have you been doing?
"Stop this argument, unless you agree with me then feel free to pile on"
Nothing.
the galaxy is just one big all you can eat foodcourt to the hivemind and imo that makes it the only faction with 0 moral anything
Was wondering when that was gonna happen
fucking hell my head
Read the goddamn lore next time you two
and is part of why i love them the most lol. none of the BS from the other factions. just pure raw and simple hunger and survival driving them on
I literally do not understand people like this, like holy fuck
They can comprehend morality just fine. The hivemind is probably the most intelligent thing in the galaxy, and it's shown repeatedly that it fully comprehends things like "society" and "morality". it simply doesn't care and only uses those concepts as weapons against their prey.
I'd understand if you wanna like argue morality with that yeah
but human beings that operate the Imperium tho lmao
"Yeah paradise worlds are so good"
have you ever worked on a yacht before

I hope you like getting abused by rich people for laughs
which is what makes it so deadly. it sees those things as the weaknesses they are and exploits them, its the ultimate predator
Honestly Nemeton isn't really a "bad" place to live. It's basically stuck in the bronze age, but most of the terrible fascist stuff seems to gloss over it. The only real terrible thing the Imperium does to them is their local Chapter takes recruits by kidnapping, but their novel makes it clear that the chapter actually operates below full strength because they don't like to do that anyway. I'd give it a solid 6.5/10, I'd tolerate it.
There's no one who plays an Imperial faction that gives a shit about what the government is
"every virtue is a vice and every strength is a weakness"
Narratively, I like "yeah the Imperium? absolute worst thing that ever happened to humanity. Super evil. Anyway, here's an Imperial named Cute Dan who makes dolls for orphaned children and runs a food bank".
Exactly
(Cute Dan eventually ends up in a Homunculi lab)
nah caliban is pretty safe
yeah most books just use the imperium as a dark backdrop for the story said book is telling
You'd be surprised lol
We care about the common people and the heroes that defend them
There are heroes in the Imperium
Why don't they just take the chunks of Caliban and the chunks of Cadia and make Caladia where everyone is an ultra-badass Daemon slayer
I do like Wyrmwood a lot
lol
barely
Vashtorr did a good job, he deserves a planet
man i gotta get arks of omen Lion
well he didnt really get one. more just a giant tunnel boring machine lmao
Wasn't there something about Wyrmwood being the collective callsign for Grendel's intelligence operatives?
feel like as a fallen fan i'm missing out on some important fuckin lore
that is likely but the "wyrmwood" in question is the chick in the voxcasts
I'm pretty sure Wyrmwood isn't a single person
also if it was a collective callsign it would have a number to id the sepcific agent
Yeah also im pretty sure Wyrmwood is an IRL thing
i think its a mythological one? Google time
yeah nvm just "made up IRL cool name"
Wormwood is a star that falls to Earth in the Book of Revelations
Wormwood is also a plant, most famous as an ingredient in absinthe
they are lol
😩
Anyway yeah since "wyrmwood agents" are a thing it's probably a collective callsign
Wyrm is a discount dragon
I always assumed that as her agents
Dude you do not want to get into a nordic folklore argument with me
So essentially wyrm and worm are obviously cognate words, meaning they have a common origin and are essentially the "same word" for most purposes
Im pretty sure wyrm was a pre-existing term
Both originally referred to any animal which crawled on the ground, especially venomous animals, which of course means mostly snakes
i won't bring up my space marine Týr then
it was just worm afaik lol
So later on "worm" came to refer to the invertebrate because they looked like snakes
the y spelling came later
Ye olde English
while in nordic countries it became more strongly associated with dragons (although there are English "worm" dragons, like the Laidly Worm), which are typically seen as a folkloric reflection of snakes
seems "wyrm" did come from old norse old high german and old saxon
You might want to pull back on the history talk before Dilly notices
Dragon comes from OE draca which just refers to sea monsters, so there's basically a sea serpent-dragon spectrum which we see really strongly in the germanic folk tradition (dragons are generally portrayed as water-monsters or spirits)
So yeah essentially wyrmwood is just edgy wormwood, and it's probably referring to the star from Revelations
History talk is allowed as long as you arent being a weirdo fascist lol
or you know "conquering is a morally good thing"
I know, just making a joke
got a "gun-right" emote?
humanity first, always, in every instance, never in the wrong

The etymology of the word wyrm is neat
yay ty
Deer is a really fun etymology, trust me
Somebody gave that Ogryn a second gun. God help us
The fact that we call them deer is a huge insult to an Englishman's intelligence
me having played both games, yeah those chaos ships are gona rip that imperial ship to shreads
the chaos fleet is just so much stronger than the imperial one lol
their ships are fast and have longer range more accurate guns
as a BFG player, Osmadiel or Korahael?
i cant remember lol
lol
yup
seriously tho, osmadiel is easily my fav fallen in 40k
and i hope they bring him back
also speakin of fallen
homebrew of course
got a wip from a dude i comm'd for art of my ravenwing leader in my fallen group. him and his fuckin robo legs
now i must plan his important lore
like how he shits
gotta pray twice every time
be me
play BFG2
literally have no idea who these people are
pick the Fallen because I hate Dark Angels and Osmiehomie sounds like a homie

only campaign i ever finished as the nid one lol
he's just so
"rational" for a space marine
also those 2 games are why i do not trust focus home with the 40k IP lol
they have a bad habit of dropping games like a year or 2 in lol
On one hand, Arthurian stuff is cool. On the other hand, Dork Angels
clearly a heretic then
Have you considered

Dark Angle
rationality and common sense is a sin in the imperial creed lol
also that too
i enjoy the arthurian stuff
all the best SMs are heretics
plus some of the first space marines made (dark angels) were named after old terran kings and figures in myth
hell thats honestly true for most imperial characters
I'm very torn between Dark Angels and Emperor's Spears because they fill like, the same niche more or less, but DA are more Celtic fantasy and ES are more historical Celts
I really like the druid stuff with the spears though
Gilgamesh and Heracles are 2 dark angels that come to mind
all i can think of when i think of dark angels is, white bath robes lol
i named my dude from that first batch Týr
i got him somewhere
mainly because i literally had a hooded white bath robe once that looked almost exactly why the dark angel robes lol
I like the angel naming scheme tbh
Uncrowned Prince Týr, fallen angel and child of Nordyc
agreed
Angels and Arthurian fantasy are just a really good combo and it works for the chapter
The gay, indigenous angels of Arthur's table
mainly from the recruits taken from a planet called "Plains World"
Almost sounds like a cut scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail
I think the Rock gaybar thing was always said to be a rumor that got debunked.
no i am not kidding that is the official name
gay bar was. lion's name inspo however could not be any truer
Oh yeah no Lionel Johnson thing is entirely on point
The gay bar thing was just a fan thing yeah, but also the names and the fact that they were men in skirts with a "dark secret"
Yeeee
the gay allegories entirely come from the book and the author
Someone, enlighten him
The secret is they're boykissers, uh, I mean, half of them are traitors, uh
the primarch Lion el jonson is named after an author who wrote a poem about his "dark secret", his homosexuality
oh
Yeah this was back in the day when it was basically a death sentence too.
fitting
A lot of like
homosexual guys back then had no idea what being gay was
just that they had these unexplained urges
what drives it even farther home however, the poem is titled The Dark Angel
most people dont know this but. many knights where gay as hell by modern standers lol. so its very fitting
Are you telling me the lion fucks dudes? BASED
the dark secret thing was obviously the Fallen but this was back in the day when "gay haha" was the top humoruous thing
now that we are in a bit of a more progressive age its more just a silly side joke for most people lol
The lion has been passed out on a trash pile behind a gay bar for the last 10,000 years and you're wondering why he looks a little more ragged than Guilliman?
something-something silver fox
lion would prob bang a dude, just never cared to get with anyone.
hopin farsight changes that

Also @plush mason very recommended watch
Warhammer is full of real world references, to mythology, history or literature, and the Primarchs are no exception. So where did names like Perturabo or Konrad Curze come from? Let's find out!

some of the fan art for old man lion is just great
big fan of this one
Killinger was the artist for Wrath and Glory too iirc
Old man lion looks great
I like his younger design a lot more, just not wild about distinguished older gentlemen
But he doesn't look bad by any means at all
hes just tywin
ngl i wish GW could make armor looking like this lol
dude's got a whole scene in his book where he just skins a dead beast
straight up tywin
I am nervous about what they'll do to Russ. I really do hate the "Odin" theory, since Magnus already has that covered and did it in a much more interesting way than Leman would.
I'd say dont expect too much radical changes
I legit doubt they are brave enough to go full half-wulfen Russ or w/e
i'd agree. young lion wise this gotta be my fav art. i just enjoy his armor a bit more
I wouldn't mind werewolf Russ, but I don't like the way Wulfen look
leman is in for a hell of a time if he come's back lookin like old school wulfen
The one and only primarch I need to see mutated the fuck out is Corax
a humanoid raven monstrosity would be such a sick model
ah ye, lord of the first artwork
good book
I mean just look at this fanmade mini
We need the bird boy
I have such high hopes for Corax and I look forward to having them dashed uwu
Lorgar being based on Logos is strange to me lol
Primarch names really can go anywhere from "We came up with this in a bar" to "deep historical reference"
Logos being logic and deductive reasoning where as Lorgar was just a man of pure blind idiot faith
Plato moment
Honestly though Lorgar being Logos would make sense if it were the case
It's standard practice to translate Logos in the new testament as "The Word"
Ergo, Word Bearers
that makes a lot more sense yeah
because the other use for the word is something completely different to the biblical one lol
i like to believe that if lion shaved his hair it would regrow with colour again
people keep saying he looks older but all i see is white hair
and even if he did get extra wrinkles how would that makes sense? He slept through the millenia without using his facial muscles
I thought the collapse of the Aeldari happened long before the 30th millenium. Didn't know it happened two thousand years before the Horus Heresy.
The decay of their empire took quite the time - otherwise humanity would have never reached DAOT level. It happened just because knife-ears were too busy with murderfucking a chaos god into existence.
i like this tech priest, spoiler because it's from brutal Kunnin
||< Interrogative: what is that? > Zaefa asked in astonishment.
< It is a miniaturised lascannon, > Addenbrow replied, as a targeting
device dropped over their right ocular implant. < It lacks a little of the
punch and range of the Mars Mk VII, but I find it quite adequate for most
circumstances. >
< It was my understanding that you were unaware of the orkoid presence
here, > Mitranda said.
< I was. >
< And yet you are equipped with the very item you declared most suitable
for the current threat? >
< In my experience, there are very few hostile threats that can’t be at least
partially resolved by the judicious application of a lascannon, > ||

yeah nah literally exactly the same scene
nothing even extended
His account has a bunch of progress shots
But it's weird idk
Don't trust checkmarks by default
Apparently he did the Gaunts?
Dooming the entire human race into extinction and providng the chaos gods with their greatest champions and being their greatest followers
lol
Its you know, kinda due to them that the entire galaxy is fucked and split in half right now.

Ah yeah that might make sense
Like he has super early stuff there
And looks like he mainly does monstrous stuff
Between this and Syama making a post on his patreon recently about him being alive, I am moderately sus
Hes also working on a personal project that he announced like a year ago iirc
its all very sus
Codex is out soon as well
- Emperor's crusade took more than 7 years.
- Technically whole Great Crusade of Emperor is the equivalent of one warband starting to forcibly unite other societies in the world of Mad Max.
- Galaxy was fucked twice - firstly by the Old Ones, then by pointy-ears. By the time, Emperor started doing his things, Slaanesh was born and other three warp-amoebas were awoken and quite active.
The heresy is what was so short
^
And the Emperor still didn't do anything better
lol
also yeah the Great Crusade took long, I'm referencing the Horus Heresy
the list of problems he would have fixed if he was a better father
Or just a smart person
it's not exactly the smallest of margins
Bro is built like a Fortnite premium skin
what do you dislike about his characterization?
it's not exactly like a mad max warband, the emperor had been watching and manipulating the direction of humanity for thousands of years by that point
