Same with orks like many people would think that purple is sneaky even though in Lore it does literally nothing for the orks
yeah
hell blue is lucky and red is fast, why would those 2 mixed make an ork sneaky anyway?
yeah, there are 4 color beliefs in orks
Orpheus war
yup
dont they use brown as a tribe color?
no
random colors as camouflage
Like they will have a snow camouflage while in the desert
lol
Isn't Yellow rich cause of Teef ?
They just believe it makes them better at hiding
yeah but it has a double meaning
The clan that loves yellow primarily uses long range fire
the bad moonz
Which is also the richest
I though White/Black checker was explosions
But that might just be Borderland
isnt the rich part just because the tribe that uses yellow have teef that grow back way faster than the other orks?
Yeah
bad moonz are super rich because their teeth grow faster
That's why they can afford highly custom guns and they can just stay back and outgun even a tau gun line
Black and white are goffz. They are the biggest and the toughest of orks and they're very proud of that I think the reason why you are confused is that it's mentioned that they love using Stikkbombs
the only guard regiments that get any nuance at all are tanith and cadia
actually nvm cadia is extremely one sided
and tanith are space marines but human because they straight up never die

Listen to my silly songs
They make you laugh
Nothing bad could happen from a few laughs at one of my jokes
Your music is too silent, let me help
Could a bilepiper’s “curse” cause an ork to laugh to death
Cuz i know it affects other daemons and humans
Love me a Goff rocker
grenade microphone always funny
Yeah, age of sigmar orcs are still technically just fantasy orcs and they can laugh to death but maybe more resilient than others because they're so f****** stubborn and shaman might just protect them from the curse entirely
Fair enough
ok let me rephrase that
they straight up don't die to the level you'd expect from a guard regiment
Yeah because they are small
they arent a massive army
I'm willing to give Dan one point for that actually
he actually manages to make tanith feel like its homeworld is dead
unlike cadia who don't seem affected at all by it
Think that’s just the fact the cadians are everywhere at this point.
Tanith don’t really have that luxury
Unnumbered purple beady eyes
The Cadians also have the eldritch ability to turn any regiment they make physical contact with into Cadians.
Foul magics
The only reason why there are other guard regiments is to have them do the strategy cadians don't do
Like it's literally mostly cadians then they will throw in this regiment that specializes in this type of warfare because cadians don't specialized on that
Are there any Cadians on Terra?
Probably lol
wherent they just sent all over the imperium?
There's probably someone from the imperial faith who considers the Canadians tainted due to their warp eyes.
100%
hell one sect on one of the worlds the nid invaded recently tried to say "there is no xeno invasion, the imperium is just trying to take our world from us" even as the nids started to literally rain down from the sky
and if that aint a satiric allegory for what happened in America during covid i would be shocked lol
moral of the story is. there are always members of the imperial faith ready willing and able to fuck over the imperium at large and persecute anyone at any time for any reason
ofc fucking itself over is the one thing the imperium is always great at
You guys think there are restaurants in the imperium manned by servitors and owned by the wh40k version of silicone valley dudes?
no because any sort of major industry is controlled by tech priests and servitors are pretty expensive
but it's just a lobotimized cyborg, the organic components are easy to replace, and same with the bionics
Still incredibly expensive
Servitors are expensive
It’s cheaper to just use slaves
You still need to wash and feed servitors
ah fair, slaves are better in that regard then,,, I mean "unpaid interns"
but washing a servitor is just simple as using a DI pressure washer, as for feeding maybe a gastro-intestinal tube
Is there any explanation or reason as to why some servitors and tech priest have numbers in their names?
Labelling/inventory
Some tech priests are from a vat grown batch of kids, the number indicates that
Some senior tech priest have junior tech priest as their propperoty. Like crawl with his primaris aphla smarine or his own private vaults factories run by his owned servants.
So is humanity able to produce asexually
Cloning is kind of what do you call it
heretical
it's not really heretical it's just disliked
as cloning can have very you know unpredictable results
So youd go to jail
depending on your circumstances you can get away with it
the biggest example is the mechanicus since they literally fix and provide tech
you really can't do anything with them
unless you want your guns mysteriously disappearing out of the void
While Cloning is not really allowed, Vat Grown children are
what's the difference between that and cloning
isn't cloning just growing an organism using the DNA of something
So the child is grown in a vat but produced the other way?
Clones are made by replicating the Dna of a person, Vat Grown are more like artificial insemination type stuff
Oh i get it
In theory still need Dna from "parents" but not a real clone
You still need the egg and sperm of people
But tech priests don’t have sex normally
It’s not really a part of mechanicus culture
And pregnancy is seen as being unecessarily dangerous
“The Magos Medicae who tended to the physical wellbeing of the Legio crews dispassionately laid out the procedures to be used. The gruesomeness of his descriptions was worsened by the detached tone of his voxmitter. There would be pain. Ruptures. Potential organ damage. Parts of her that she would rather a knife never come near might need to be cut to facilitate the birth. She could even die.”
You maybe can, but it won't be for making children I suppose
I hate kids anyways
the fuck
Well I expected that with humanity
At least it's not Skaven Broodmothers
Yeah it makes sense
So do you guys know all the lore?
Specifically @arctic talon
Fantasy and 40k
I know too much lore for my own good
Tbh
But I still get things wrong heh
I’m just good with eldar, mechanicus and some guard lore
Woah, Bilepiper doesn't care about me
If you know every single thing about these two universes
I am very concerned for your health and the fact that i look like a great unclean one in real life makes this more concerning
I want to get to that point
I specialize in greenskin lore specifically orcs in fantasy and orks in 40K
I specialize in some nurgle lore
Yes i do
I just remember somehow teaching you lore so i know you don’t know all of it
The one setting I know very few of is AoS, other than that:
Fantasy: Dwarf, Undead, Empire and Orks
40k: Admech, IG, used to know about the Sisters but the lore had quite a few Retcons so not sure anymore
And for both Khorne and Slaanesh a little bit, and some Tzeentch too
Nurgle not so much
Nobody should know everything from warhammer
I should
It's not healthy
My undiagnosed autism demands it
I'm way too addicted to the green skins
yes that is multiple bookmarks to anything related to the orks of GW
I just open up fandom when i want a lore fix
Or ask it here if im feeling particularly lonely when i want my lore fix
?
By that I meant I do the same thing. Open Fandom when I need Lore
ok
I've read excerpts and wikis for years and have picked up stuff from osmosis
I get my first models today
True for me
good luck on painting
Pog
Which ones
Nice!
Are you gonna try to paint your angels bulwark
Can't, no red
My first ever box was the stormcast one
Just trying ultras to start
damn
If I like it though then definitely
they are pretty good, doesn't have too much details but has enough to really challenge you
I hope you have fun
I don`t have any minies 😔
My first models i had so much fun i painted till midnight
ATM scrounging the house for stuff to make a wet pallete
Especially if you paint something like orcs or the imperial guard
I use paper plates
I'm not a painter but I know those two will rip apart your wallet
I already save it , and know it from friends
I just learned how to order stuff
So if I can't get a new PC I'll treat myself to some stuff
Nids also eat your wallet funny enough
I mean they are a horde army so that is to be expected
Yeah armies that require a lot of models in general is devastating to the wallet empire
Sorry that just popped into my head
Most armies will eat your wallet
Yeah thats why i only buy death guard sylvaneth maggotkin salamanders nekrons and skaven
Hold up im forgetting one
I do have nids
I am thinking what bought in first place
surprisingly the army that is so good in lore that their cost of maintaining their equipment is so high that multiple planets are needed planets is the cheapest
Custodes
Well I suspected it
Because they usually don`t need a lot of models
yeah. Basically the less models you require for an army the cheaper it is
Buy start collectings first
Well they are usually pretty costy
They’re older
Also the sculpts in the start collecting are older
CSM got 2 seperate updates to their legionaries which was weird
My sylvaneth fall apart alot
But one set was monopose
That sounds like you didn’t glue properly ngl
Gotta glue broken leafs on constantly
Geez
I am a master glueer
I like sylvaneth
No idea their lore tho
Skaven piss them off alot is all i knoe
Literal wood elves
They don’t like fleshy people who don’t respect nature
They also don’t like the wood elf survivors of the old world
Mostly since when chaos re-emerged they ran off
And scattered instead of staying and fighting with the sylvaneth
They have somewhat forgiven the old wood elf survivors
But they still see them as cowardly
I would too
If i could be any sci-fi or fantasy creature id be an ent
Or tree spirit
I want to get a tattoo sleeve that makes my arm look like a tree
your cat sure seems exited
Just realized i never did this so
So when people ask about extra darktide lore bits we can point them at the pins
The vox transmissions are pretty underrated
We just need more of them
i can't wait when suddenly a gene stealer cult just pops out of nowhere
i'm sure the other hive city is lost
yeah totally
Nothing in the Vox Interception point to GSC
And they point toward us going downward and not another Hive (Which likely gonna be used for a Chaos Waste like system)
a man can dream
gene stealers are a perfect enemy type for dark tide
What do you mean by that?
Oh he meant games
Though GSC are definitely the easiest to implement
they got a lot of units that you can use as specials/elites
That's what I'm saying
No joke they kinda are
like you got the shooters, the elites, the mini-bosses etc
its kinda down to execution
not sure how you could program them without making them Diet Dregs
You can replace the ogryns with aberrants
There's literally an evolution that specializes in explosives so that's your bomber
Yeah pretty much
GSC also use netguns as one of their weapon options too
but like i said you kinda need to do more than just make them reskinned dregs/scabs
Other Chaos Cult have much more depth to what they can offer for me
the easy part is making them fitting in darktide
The hard part is making them unique
It`s usually more in daemons and stuff like that I think
Its tricky because Beastmen didn't offer that much to the VT enemy roster.
Like the foot-enemies were kinda the same
its the elites that had some new quirks
You also cant excuse GSC working with the Nurglite forces unlike Vermintide where chaos/evil factions can intermix in a level
🤔
Yeah you would have to make a new level that is far away from the main war zone
Oh yea the Hordes/Bruiser and such would be for the most part reskins of each others, maybe with armour variants to make it somewhat different
yeah like i said its tricky
im sure its doable
im just not that smart to figure it out lmao
I think they are one of the more obvious options though
You can definitely go another way but right now they're the more obvious one
Other Cults of Chaos (Khorne/Slaanesh/Tzeentch) is more obvious, as they can make them without having to make the enemies work against each other
And before someone says that they would just be recoloured Dregs, that would be the dumb way to do such
As each Chaos God have different aspects that can be spun into different cults
Like a Slaaneshi Noise Cult
I can see these but I can only see them as buffs for the most part because Nurglee has way too deep of a control I mean literally the other faction worships him
Buff ?
Like for example khorne gives extra melee damage to melee enemies something like that
tzeentch can increase flamer damage because they use warp fire or something like that
That's a bad way to look at that, if they do additional factions they should give them different origin, and for the most part the same as the current ones but with different armour values, and adding on top of that units that really represent those factions well
it's just a suggestion because nurgle has so much grip on atoma that I don't know how the other chaos gods will find a way to get into the action
For example, Khorne getting an Enforcer Cult, where it's Bruisers are Convicts, it's horde are Civilians that are infected with a Khornate rage
And ranged units being Enforcers turned traitors
I mean for ***** sake the green dregs literally worship him
Nurgle doesn't currently controle a single Hive atm, unless the second Hive is totally controlled but the Cults
And the GSC would have more problem than a Chaos cult then
That is fair it's just that in the game all I see is green mutants green demons and the literal plague ogryn, even the beasts of nurgle is around here
Yeah, cause the areas we're going to are those under Dreg and Scab control
Maybe the blood pack could be a good contender in another area waging head on war
But yeah the planet is pretty wide so I'm pretty sure they can find a way to insert the other gods
At the moment a lot of the places we just go through have a lot of nurgle corruption
Yeah, cause we're fighting a cult that is currently Overt, while the other (And/or GSC) currently are still hiding, but in the future, where we would have already cause quite some damage to the current alliance we would see other Cults join up with them cause the Dreg are less powerful and couldn't squash them so they have to work together
Nurgle Followers mostly control Slums and Lower Levels
yeah but I don't fancy my chances against a blood letter
Well Bloodletter will be a little to much I think
Same as we would have against a Plaguebearers, they aren't that tough
They would be proper elites like the Ogryn trio
I mean currently the highest ranking demon we saw is a beast of nurgle so what's the equivalent for each faction in terms turn off of power level anyway
Khorne Cultists could also have Juggernauts
To replace default hounds
Slower hound but deals damage in melee
more tough because of carapace armor
bro, we will be flattened into ******* cheese if even one of them charges us
and maybe cannot pin down a player but rather deal a greate amount of damage
Why not?
Also yes , Glory to the Ruinous Powers is supose
khorne has flesh hounds
Or made ogryn brutes armed with power drills or large scrap blades
I know
So that could just be the replacement
AND UNDER COMBAT STIMS
Maybe Karnak mini boss
that would be a Berzerker ogryn
yes
Maybe also mutant rabble (beastman)
Also
Tzeentch Cultists may have a Changeling as mini-boss
or Exalted Flamer
BoN would be Fiend of Slaanesh and Flamer of Tzeentch (Or Disk of Tzeentch, but Flamer serve more of the same role persay)
Hounds as is would more appropriate as a Pox Hound variant (Maybe trading Infested for Maniac ?)
For the Khronate Monster it, from Khornate Daemons we could see some new things, or something like Scylla Amgrimfist
I'd do with an exalted Hound of Khorne (Make it bigger than regular and give it 2 heads for example)
i guess the smaller demon would be perfect for hound variant but for a bigger boss one how about the three headed version of the hound
the karanak
There is actually something that is perfect for that now that I look deeper into it
Gore hounds are mutated dudes through Gore Mages, from the Blood Cults, don't think they ever gave arts of them
Well khorne is simple you only really have four choices in demons it seems
Something like a bloodthirster is definitely out
Same with the juggernaut
But you can find a way to include the flesh hounds and the bloodletters
as special enemies
Greater Daemon wouldn't make sense, power scale wise
But there is always the possibility of FS creating new Daemons, like how Dark Heresy (iirc) made the Vile Savant for Nurgle
Yeah they could probably just make decently strong creatures that have been influenced by the chaos gods as a type of replacement
Seeing as BoN is the only real Daemon atm, and Plaguebearers would make more sense as Elites (Maybe Specials/Elites too), i think 1 Daemon Monster (In Which case twin headed/generic lesser variant of Karanak), and then another Monster that isn't a Daemon
Right now for khorne the equivalent of this beast of nurgle would be a super juiced flesh hound
If it's Enforcer then Sanctioner Automata (Pic 1), with 2 variants
- Pacifier assault claws and Assault rams with Man-catcher
- Pacifier assault claws and Concusion Cannon with Man-catcher
If it was GSC, the 2/3 Monster would be an Abominant and a Patriarch ?
Aberrant would be Ogryn stand ins
aberrants are Ogryn equivalent, for a special i guess that would be the abominant
Already had fixed it
I know but I want to contribute something in the conversation let me be
Well we can think of the 3rd, maybe a variant like how the Toxgryn are gonna be
going back a little this could be corrupted in a way like just throw a demon inside it
and you effectively have something that you can use as a boss
Yeah, there is actually some dead dude's mind in it, so would easily be corrupted
FUCK YEAHHHHH
Love these things
And they're just apparently the size of an ogryn
So they're not even that big
But it seems they're pretty exclusive on necromunda because they don't share tech
Well atm they are only on Necromunda, but it's only cause Necromunda has more lore than basically 90% of the other planets
Yeah that is true there is literally a gang there that can reconstruct something similar to a jet bike even though jet bikes can't be constructed by the imperium
Actually those are able to be contructed by plenty of area, it's those powerful enough to lift SM that aren't iirc
Like Elysia and iirc Tallarn had lore about Jet vehicles on their planets
So they can only reconstruct the pale imitations
this is the key i think.
lots of hive cities or forgeworlds have proprietary shit like this wandering around, probably. you just dont know about it.
And you @pine wedge, who/what would you like to see as a future faction ?
for DT?
ye
I would love GSC, big 'nid fan
either in another hive city or rising up out of the depths of the tertium underhive and messing up everyone's plans
Nah, Coward not jk, take a stance, stop being Swiss
I work as I see fit and plus i do the occasional jabbing at her from time to time
Maybe this time I need to calm down a little yeah
I'll be Mad cop you be nice cop
nah I'm the janitor I'm just here
Who’s the psycho that came up with hive cities anyway?
Kowloon Moment
me when I am in the " solve this problem in the most horrible way possible " competition and my opponent is the imperium of man
Probably would have to look at Arcology and Megastructures, like Planet wide cities are first in one of the Foundation book
“Our lasguns keep over heating, I wish there was a way we could shoot less but still do as much if not more damage!”
The guy who’s about invent the overcharged las gun:
Also the plasma gun is literkaly a fucking car battery gun of 40k and I don’t know how that makes me feel
DAoT mankind, iirc.
They were intended as fully self-sustaining cities for rapid galactic colonization
Many of the hive cities you see in M41 have been crumbling under their own weight for more than ten thousand years
Without proper maintenance to boot
Ah yes the dark age of technology, the time when the imperium decided to make something even bigger and more dangerous than an emperor class titan
This looks funny to me. You got two titans in the background, one of them has the hunchback look while the other looks like its standing up straight. And in the foreground you have the Astartes. One guy is standing up normal, but the other is wearing the bulky terminator armor that gives him the hunchback appearance.
If a ogryn was smart enough to use psyker powers well what “power level” would that put him on
Like how strong could that be
The psychic ogryn on the Ghazghkull book forced the orks to change tactics
But this question is still quite hard to answer because this only happened once on the setting
Also yeah, that ogryn was also pretty educated thanks to her tutors
And another plus it was a female ogryn to which is not often seen in the setting
Yeah i was about to ask
So yes thanks to the riff or whatever the f*** is causing it
Psyker ogryns are becoming a thing
Female Ogryns always existed its just that the lore never talks about them
Yeah it's like pokemon getting eaten it's there but we don't talk about it
How rare are female ogryn
Not at all
They are just mostly on their planets doing their own thing
It's the males that do the dirty work
Like 1 out of 10 ogryn rare or like regular sex shit
Ah ok
they multiply through sex
No
Yes
If you're talking about the gender ratio
Yeah there would be a normal number of female ogryns
theres nothing stopping them from it
Alright
I see
Because combat is mostly done by the males
The very rare example of a female ogryn that had combat experience was the one i mentioned that was also psyker
There are no other examples of them showing up on lore besides that
Damn
They are just a thing that exist
Its an effect of 40k being mostly a macho-guy setting for the last 20 years
female representation in general unless you are a Sister of Battle was extremely rare
There are Ogryn Psyker
Due to shitty righters?
Wrighters*
writers?
Fuck spelling
I don't think when the setting was made, a women looking at an ork caving in the head of a space marine appealing
Back then it was definitely aimed towards guys
Yeah fair enough
As the setting you know expanded they added things that can make it the other gender you know have their place in the universe
Oh yeah the dilara i have a question
Can you overwrite a daemons allegiance
Like if you have enough power to overwrite their essence to become yours for example
Turning a daemon of khorne ,turning its appearance a bit differently and now it serves Tzeentch
They're created by a specific god, and serve it as a matter of their nature. Daemons switching side would be like wolves choosing not to be carnivores, or birds choosing not to fly.
The only exception would be those Daemon Princes and Spawn who were mortals, and were raised to Daemonhood. They may change their allegiance, but their former patron would likely be displeased, and punish them accordingly.
I was going to write the blood letter who got stomped on by Gork and Mork fighting and suddenly he just decided to be the ally of the orks because he got hit in the head way too hard
And with Zufhasin too
And their very energy over wrote khorne's influence
The Great Unclean One coming over to the planet under Slaanesh control and becoming The Great Clean one
Could be very good proxy for Slaanesh Daemon
valhalla must win
I'd vote for Tallarn
Lets go iron gaurd!
So...I have a quick question, since I never thought about it before. The Beta gear is labelled "Mortis Operative"...but isn't the Legio Mortis a traitor legion? Or is it a reference to something else?
Mortis is just the Latin word for "Death"
its used because it sounds cool
its like how the Hades Breaching Drill is named Hades because it sounds cool.
Well, I knew that. I just assumed there was a connection. Calling a supporter of the Legio Mortis a Mortis Operative isn't too far fetched. But it's more meant as "Death Squad", I guess?
Random generic latin words are thrown around like candy in setting
40k loves using random words with no correlation to its actual dictionary usage
Word.
YEP

It took like almost 3 decades for there to be a black guy in the cover of a 40k RPG book and also novel lol.
Women and female characters in the setting in general were also just a massive oof point.
Late 80s general misogyny and general bigotry all round. Inroads have been made in recent years and that's a good thing.
Yeah entirely agreed so.
I remember one of my friends asking a GW guy at a convention on why female necrons were not a thing for a long time and it was apparently entirely because some guy in the studio who was a higher-up was constantly pushing against the idea

and thats one example
there's no way the writers made these decisions
They have.
40k was founded as a macho setting.
Writers are steered by the studio, by editors and by random people who don't have a clue what the player base consists of.
This lady here was a BL writer so she knows what she's talking about.
no self respecting world builder neglects adding diversity in a sci fi setting like come on
I had to ditch an entire plot element and chunk of a novel because the studio decided to change a core fact in the middle of me writing it. So yeah. 😄
40k was founded in the 90's and proceeded to the early 2000's, where machoism was high and girls were icky.
Theres no "diversity"
Ah, they're fun to write for and I'm grateful I get the chance. So there's that.
Some time you wonder what the writer could have done that would have been awesome than the Exec didn't allow
yeah but even marvel and DC had black superheros. women also were present but it was super male fantasy depictions yeah
Yeah because Stan Lee pushed for it
he faced a lot of racists/backlash for his decisions
Warhammer is another whole animal
The Warhammer target audience when it came into being was very much teenage/early twenties young men. Over the years, the game and those who enjoy it have, like the world in general, diversified. Catch up is slow, but at least there's efforts and an acknowledgement of the problem.
i genuinely think the people who made warhammer had never seen a black person in whatever remote english city they lived in
Marvel and Star Trek were famous for being quite progressive, while GW are not know for so much
this is entirely it yeah
It's also Br*tish
warhammer fantasy was also incredibly racist

Anyone that wasn't from Not-Europe was a caricature
And even some Europeans
...I mean, so am I?
it's just a shitty sci fi setting in that case then. it's supposed to be the future where all races have gone to space and somehow only white people are present. fantasy was worse imo because holy shit there's some races that are cartoonishly racist
Not my creation, I am innocent of all charges.
I don't mean it as the uhhh
General non UK jab at them being crooked toothed savages
More that it was made in Britain
Back then
it's so white that even the tallarn raiders are caucasian
I will go back to loitering beneath this rock over here.
no you must tell us your thoughts on dan abnett
I'd like more Valkia books
Valkia was so much fun to write.
We need her in AoS
I can see, but we need her in 40k
He's a very lovely man and he cooked me a very delicious dinner when we last visited him.
🙂
What did he make ?
i laughed so hard when i saw an image of ogres on the wiki. they're so bad
Ogres are okay
Oh yeah the Mongole looking ones ?
Do NOT look up old Nippon models
they are not too on the nose
compared to yeah Nippon
or Ind lore lmao
or Araby
"MIDDLE-EASTERNERs ON FLYING CARPETS"
There are worse than all those
It was fish and potatoes and samphire and Much Wine was had and ridiculous board games occurred and then more wine happened. Then we had to retreat to our attic hotel bedroom which was heated by the heart of star that couldn't be turned off and I had the worst hangover.
Samphire ?
man I really want to like Abnett
yes
but he also has to have the world's most spineless editor
"How about I stretch this final HH book into 3 parts"
Yeah, it's a vegetable. Basically estuary seaweed.
Huh, I never have seen that one
Remember what we lost
Like... tiny asparagus.
I know that BL has opening seasons for new writers, but do "confirmed" ones get more leeway on what they can write ?
Can't really comment on that, but I am pretty sure that he isn't in charge of Marketing.
Oh no he entirely admitted it himself
I assume it helps that the big ones have like big jobs at Black Libary lol
that he wrote way too much and wanted to extend it into 2 more novels
Im sure the BL guys just nodded along knowing how much that would sell
You can try pitching something more 'out there', but it'll get reined in by the editors/studios if it goes too far down a random path.
(And it WILL sell)
but theres just SO MUCH fat
YEP

imagine milking the fight between Horus and Sanguinius to a single goddamn book.
I know other events will happen in it but jesus
Que another 3 million posts about a throwaway line in book 2 page 359 where Sanguinius mentions he likes white wine more than red
I wrote an entire book based on a single paragraph, so I can't really comment on that.
So you could push for a Valkia book
Yeah but you dont write 500 pages of bolter porn Sarah
I know because I read half your stuff 💀
Well mayde she could if she wanted to
aaa
Well, there's SOME. 🙂
YEP but its not that bad
you dont make me read about some rando like Fafnir Ran and how badass he is
I will take that as a compliment, thank you very much.

I'm presently engaged in writing in Other Worlds at the moment: the UK paperback release of my new novel is this month, so that's nice.
Wait, do you have your own branded server ?
At least it isn't checks notes
Nick Kyme Salamanders novels
Nah its just a dummy server I use for file dumping/storage for random stuff.
I just have some emotes I commissioned also uploaded there, its just me
So I'm not sure, but the Valkia novel never say in what year it happen no ? So any hope we'd see her in Old World ?
Just noticed it's Other World, not Old World
Never say never
Again, innocent of all charges.
Again... what did they do this time
Yeah this was WAY later after you left Sarah
also nothing just uhhh
they entirely rehashed her Old World backstory to be in AoS instead?
So like shes just some rando barbarian that gets ascended, so her WHF book becomes entirely null.
Ah, don't mark me as surprise
So I guess she is back to not being a Daemon Princess again I suppose
At least she got a neat DLC for Total Warhammer
I mean, technically I never left, I'm freelance. I pop stories in every now and then. 🙂
True but still 😩
What's the relationship between Valkia and karanak
Everyone needs a puppy dog to bring their slippers.
Danie Ware
Right, I'm off to be mediocre on video games, so have nice rest of your respective days.
im willing to pay you 1$ to write a love story about two krieg infantry
Ok just making sure it's not more unoriginal than I thought
calling a supplement book Wolftime 💀
A, fucking, what?
Wolftime?
is it just me or do ultramarines, world eaters and luna wolves share a roman aesthetic
Ye
what's an iron fist
My favorite part of the space wolves is when russ comes on screen and says ‘it’s wolftime’ and wolfs all over the place
seriously though how hard is it to make 18 chapters be completely different
salamanders are like one of the only original chapters
Iron hands successor chapter with a better color scheme then og
not to be confused with the Fists of Iron
Of course
Don’t forget the iron fist’s hands are gold colored
They are based on Rome, but different aspects of them
imagine if world eaters were inspired by hindu culture and angron's origin story was taken from one of shiva's myths or something
no instead we have diet spartacus with anger issues
Okay but also Angronbeing kinda sorta Hindu themes seems like it could be very offensive
Hinduism is very large in modern day and having their rep being the guy obsessed with murder following the god of murder is kinda yikes
yooo MCU reference????

Hahahshahhzhdha
Also when they added a Hindu god in smite it didn’t leave a good image
And then added serval more
the warp took a lot of inspiration from christian depictions of hell and fantasy warhammer in general is a parody of christianity in the middle ages
Gw using dead cultures like Roman’s, Greeks, medival Europe
Medieval*
Is alot safer
Yeah but most people don’t follow the same Christianity as the Middle Ages
fine then idk world eaters being inspired by some bloodthirsty indian or arabian historical figure i've never heard of but probably exists

if theres anything GW cant do
its Muslim/Hindu cultures
Eldar do that shit way better
Yeah
also mixing these rather serene/peaceful cultures with fascist space-nazis is eh
hey they adapted the entirety of the mongol empire as a chapter and it somehow wasn't that racist
Mainly the Mongolian empire who were blood thirsty conquers , not modern day Mongolia
Until you listen to the audiobook
^
listen i can barely remember the word sultan but there must have been at least one crazy one
Religious figures aren’t an improvement imma be honest
yeaaah
like GW can barely respect other cultures that arent english or european
look at WHF
pygmies 💀

I forgot does gw even have a sudo Chinese rep? Besides maybe tau
the incident
Horus heresy era white scars sorta
The nippon clans in WHF being named after fucking car companies

They barely respect European cultures
HH white scars ended up becoming a mishmash of Chinese, Japanese and Mongolian cultures
which is fine
and yet they didn't make a celtic chapter in the 18 choices they had
but also sort of weird?
because celtic shit is Eldar
spears of the emperor sorta
also Celtic shit is also eldar mostly
which feels weird saying
Eldar encompass uhhh
- Hindu
- Japanese
- Greek
- Celtic
they fit the faction extremely well
Also like, ultra marines and i wanna say emperors children are pretty greek
i have a deep dislike when writers dont stick to a single inspiration
But it could just be Rome
well too bad
it's just screams to me that they don't even understand their reference material and don't know what culture it comes from
like tau being vaguely asian
T'au aren't really that chinese aside from some aesthetic stuff
the caste system is weird
mostly since it doesn't resemble any irl caste system
Yea, but it’s like more modern Chinese
its just straight up eugenics lol
Correct me if I’m wornh but isn’t it based off India’s old political structures?
and i just realized tau being asian inspired explains their futuristic aesthetic. another common trope
India's caste system was tiered based on caste
They're kinda NATO inspired no
The Tau architecture/look is pretty much Utopianism.
^
Smooth gentle shapes that arent hostile
Ooo america reference!
their armor
Its got the same plating set up
I know it came out after but their guns remind me of that Chinese laser rifle hoax
Tau are very vaugely asia inspired
which funny enough comes from the actually racist notion from the cyberpunk aesthetic that asia is mysterious and techy
the cyberpunk aesthetic came into being due to how Japan was dominiating the tech industry at the time
Necromunda is just
The one planet
weird
I love it so much
its fine to take from a variety of sources for inspiration imo
and its not like the Tau are the most advanced species in the setting either
that prize goes to Necrons
using dead cultures or just using hues of modern ones is what I think is best
yeah
But culture bashing usually offends the least and is the most fun and safest
yeah and westerners thought of the place as devoid of warmth and all synthetic. when you plaster your dystopian setting with asian culture it implies both go together well...
I'ma be real with you
Japanese work culture is pretty dogshit
Unless you are really bad at it
Cyberpunk being so focused on Japan is because back in the 80's and 90's when the genre was on the rise Japan's economy was fucking BOOMING.
Everyone thought Japan was going to become a massive corporational giant and extend its reach across the world, its what inspired movies like Alien, Bladerunner and the O.G Cyberpunk by Mike Pondsmith and Co to focus on that aspect. In reality Japan's economic dominance fell off afterwards where they are still a good contender but still in middle-grounds.
having grandparents who grew up in that era lol
the entire notion that Japanese work culture treats you like a resource is true
Arasaka becoming world-power organization be like
I don't find cyberpunk offensive because its literally exemplifying the worst parts of Japanese work culture
or just East Asian work culture in general
but that's not what using japanese culture in a dystopian setting does. it just says that this culture inevitably leads to synthetic fakeness
I mean it does
^
Like
I am literally half Japanese, the culture of Japan is sort of fucked
its really really creepy
If you think we're repressive
tbf a Japanese person will never say to their face they hate you
they'll just ignore you and cut you off
and tell everyone else they know to do so
saying that a culture by itself causes societal issues is where i cross the line. that's just racism
its considered bad to be confrontational
The joke of asian parents saying you are a failure for getting 90 out of 100 in an exam is not exaggerated, believe me

bruh I got beaten with a belt for getting a B

I can talk shit about my own culture
that doesn't mean you're immune to being hateful
Japanese work culture has done irreparable harm imo
especially since my grandparents saw nothing wrong with living in a house
owned by the same company they worked for lol
you get paid, and a chunk of that money went back to the company you worked for
thats pretty fucked up
you work long hours, you barely get to sleep
Japanese work culture nowadays is better then its been before
but that doesn't mean it isn't a blight on peoples mental health or actively harmful
There's no way in hell that falling asleep on the streets should be considered normal
except it is
and its pubically accepted
Japan is notorious for its terrible work culture

No seriously
buisnessmen falling asleep randomly on the sidewalk is socially acceptable lol
heheh, pubically
im well aware of all this. i still think blaming the culture is looking in the wrong direction to solve issues
I think the work culture needs to change, literally all the young people in Japan want it to change
its not a sustainable way to live nowadays
no one wants to work 10 hours per day, then go out for drinks with your boss for another 3 hours
well not no one
thats an exaggeration but most people
don't enjoy that sort of work culture nowadays
Its a cultural issue, the culture is literally to blame
Its the japanese work culture
Yeah
The actual culture is fine
The work culture is toxic as hell
And it bleeds into the actual culture at times
you could say american culture is similar and likes overworking but just look at the fight for rights that was done in the first half of the 20th century. you can't always blame a culture for systemic issue
I was born and raised in the us
Why wouldn’t I blame the Japanese work culture I’ve seen it’s effects on my family
I started working at 14
It’s pretty horrendous
My older cousin didn’t get home till 12:00 normally
The work culture of United States is more built of uhh what’s the term
And his job starts at 8:30 in the morning
I started at 19 been working at my first job since, just got a raise and full time today.
Nice!
I have burn scars lmao
And only got 2 raises ever
One of them I didn’t even actually get
because cultures are what exist no matter the working conditions. whatever you think is work culture is just an adaptation to survive the greedy squeezing you. japan only got this way by trying to outcompete on the world market. it was inevitably going to maximize profits by forcing the population to work harder
But I’m almost a year through college so we ball
It’s not an adaptation to survive the greedy squeezing you, it’s implemented and enforced by them
and it takes advantage of the strict culture that already existed
If you don’t do overtime or go out with your co-workers and boss
You get socially ostracized
Which means other companies won’t hire you if you inevitably get fired
the working conditions are the issue, not the culture
The working conditions are enforced by the working culture
And old people see no issue with it
the people who enforce them don't give a shit. rich people in all countries act exactly the same, they have their own culture
They actively are a part of it in Japan and set the “example”
What you should aspire to become
Sleep overnight at work, help the team “bond”
i can guarantee you that if bosses could get away with as much stuff in the west as they do in japan they'd do it
Everyone everyone, can we just agree corporatism is bad?
companies like amazon tell you to report unionizing attempts. this is straight up illegal but they still do it. it's always the same shit no matter the country
Lol
Besides the unions also are in support of the work culture in Japan
It’s kind of fucked lol
They only really care about workers compensation
im surprised unions even exist in japan
but that's the problem with unions. they're not just inherently good, they need to have dedicated members
They’re also the reason why some Japanese foods are so expensive over sea lol
To maintain that “exclusivity”
yeah while they overfish international waters
My favorite part the lore is when 40k Amazon sent Gulliman a new sword
Cawl prime
amazon in 40k is just eldar who use the webway and are too bored to do anything else
40k Amazon is when you want to buy something so you shoot your neighbor and take said thing
i like to imagine that some shipping company in the dark age of man managed to use the webway and the remnants of this company still deliver stuff sometimes
Necromunda
5 second express delivery
My bullet to your skull
actually that always annoyed my about the dark age of humanity
They didn’t use the webway?
they're sometimes depicted as ubermensh who can wipe out orks with the touch of a button but for some reason their tanks looked like leman russes and they didn't decide to make every human a super bio organism
we know they had the tech. moon's bio tech was beyond anything in 40k
Nurgle’s garden just got a Walmart !
Yeah the way shit looks makes no sense lol, I go head empty and assume all the good stuff is lost which makes 0 sense
it's just
The Leman Russ is not a DAOT invention
also they did make humans super bio organism
the issue is the DAOT humanity wasnt united
they were seperate colonies of humans with advanced tech doing their own thing
Help
the older i get, the more i realize how dumb a world with tech loss is
the average person has a very weird notion of how technology is developed
it's like they think engineers are always super specialized in single fields of theory that die with them
as if we could forget the entire field of astrophysics if neil degrass tyson died
If there’s one guy on all of earth can fix a car
And if something’s happens and everything about fixing a car disappears
And the guy died
The loss of technology happen during millenias
Upon which a Tech Cult took all the knoledge and horded it like dragons instead of using it
Its all the techheads fault
i think all of this can be grouped up with the general hatred of agnosticism the horus heresy has. i can tell that dan abnett is at least a little superstitious by the way he correlates atheism with ignorance
eh, it's all the Emperor's fault tbh
Thank you big E very hypocritical and cool
like humanity during its peak tech age as depicted by GW is "see??? science is actually a religion because i don't understand how my TV remote works and i have faith that it will work"
you mean Golden Age Humanity and DaoT Humanity ?
Eh, Golden Age is older iirc
But neither really had Technology treated as religion afaik
yes it's quoted many times that science was their religion
which gets on my nerves
But those are from the PoV of people living in the IoM no ?
to me it really demonstrates that whoever created this lore was superstitious. it's a very specific way of viewing science and i'm not saying it's necessarily bad
i just hate it when people take it at face value that humanity is stupid
But it's the Humanity that has fallen, it's people from the IoM who see it like that
Like I'm sure in the future people are gonna mention our attachement to our phones and the internet in a variety of ways, of which religious isn't impossible
my main complaint is how 40k treats technology
It's the IoM, like take some of the Minor factions in the Great Crusade era and you'd see that it's much different with those
yeah but in 40k is when any tech progress at all is considered heresy. it makes no sense when you start thinking about what counts as research
In a way its the same reason why the Imperium is catholic in aesthetic, because its the ultimate showcase of religious dogma and the writers back then had a bone to pick with britain's religious groups

Also a lot of techpriests outright ignore this
they just lie about it
like any good inventor

mechanicus is an original faction that actually feels unique to 40k yes. i still think the principles they work on leads to a lot of inconsistencies
Throw it in the dirt so it looks old then present it as a new finding
Its inconsistent on purpose
their entire belief is stupid as fuck
thats the point
Its esoteric and different sects believe different things
Its why any smart techpriest like i said just lies and ignores their creed
Also this too
like theres a mechanicus sect that believes flesh is the way and the ultimate temple of purity
maybe that was the original idea, i don't know. it just feels to me like lore these days doesn't have that element anymore
Oh god no it entirely does lol
Mechanicus' stupity is a highlight in a ton of books
because its extremely glaring as a belief and makes no sense
like cawl just reinforces the idea that technology only comes from main characters. that's actually the type of shit i'd expect from ayn rand 🤮
That's most books, it's part of plot armour
So what are the religious tenants of the aeldari Clown God?
Fight chaos.
Retell the history of the Eldar
thats it
nah to me it feels like they're trying way too hard to make mechanicus cool
same thing with primaris marines
Also make people laugh?
I mean i guess, depends on the play
Well yeah because money
this is a toy game first and foremost
lore comes second or third place
it really feels like GW is implying that the only way the imperium will survive is by having the cool guys have more control
Tbf, all the new Admech stuff (So not the Primaris stuff) are more about the Admech seeing that they are losing ground and needing more specialised troops so they open their Tech Vault and use what ever they need
it's like 40k isn't even a parody anymore. it actually takes itself seriously
When everytime it's been the average Joe bobimus from hive world 6969420 fighting as a guardsman doing all the work
i just don't give much credit to GW's executives to understand what the word subtlety is
well its not the executives its the writers
as long as the Imperium exists 40k will always be satire
Satire of what is the question
the executives greenlight the model changes that make money and the writers have to suffer and try to spin it into lore
Fascist governments
Stupid rulers
Authoritarianism
etc etc
but look at how cool they make guilliman look seriously
they practically give him a christ like appearance
Guilliman's first words are literally asking why the fuck he is alive and that he'd rather see the Imperium have burnt during the Heresy than to see what it has become now.
So IRL
thats Sanguinius
who also died for our sins
