theres like 6 different ones by name in universe
they would never be able to bid on "40k as a licence", but this granular approach, slice it thin, get lots and lots of games out, lets them farm out dev talent
Like, in lore a pox walker horde screaming literally Hurts your soul
And also gives you the walking pox
and the smaller studio gets the right to work on a recognized IP
we'd never have heard of fatshark otherwise
they'd be making weird mapgames
Goes to say Star Wars didn’t have much variety or games when only EA had the exclusive license for about 10 years?
Now that’s changed and many other developers have the license to make their own in-universe
that's what my point was. GW tends to hire more small studios because the studios need the IP for brand recognition.
well, the triple as would equally love the brand recognition
like it sells titles
big game companies like activision wouldn't care all if they had to give even 1% of profit to GW
Do they approach studios or the other way around ?
i don't know
they have some sort of system to let devs or probably publishers pitch them ideas, and the inverse, they will have some osrt of team somewhere doing "the next gen 40k fps" or whatever
who are looking for devs
Late but it wasn't GW's idea to make Space Marine 2
well activision would give well more than a point for that kind of licence, but it would come with a lot of stings and oversight
this studio approached them with the request
GW itself doesnt give a fuck unfortunately

Yeah the main company does not care
if you want to make a game you approach GW
they dont see video-games as a big focus point
At the end of the day minis make a lot more money
is 40k that popular though? remember how facebook killed off a VR game because 20k active players wasn't profitable enough
this is the other advantage with taking on lots of little projects intead of a few big ones
40k is never gonna be that popular i dont think.
reduced risk profile
its a niche universe with a niche audience
For smaller Ip or author one usually it's the game studio that approach the Ip holder
the fans just like to act like they are big-shots
if you make a small number of games and they bomb, that risks damaging the almighty brand
if you make a ton of games people will mostly remember the good ones, and the mobile trash gets forgotten
40k in the uk at least is a legit brand. i am not 5 minutes awya from a retail location, and i would need to drive multiple hours to get to an apple store
Anywhere that isn't UK meanwhile

literally every IP has a trashy mobile game. i dont even register it as real
haha, yeah
It’s already the most popular table top game there is.
Henry Cavill spearheading the live action Warhammer Cinematic Universe is only gonna do more for the brand itself
Its really not
and Cavill is not doing that what
Yeah for example here in Italy tabletop in general is not popular to begin with
table top games are already niche as hell
^
DnD is king
Warhammer is close but not that much
also Cavill is not doing a massive cinematic universe
dnd had a moment in the past 5-10 years
thats just redditor copium lmao
live play podcasts got weirdly big
yeah stuff like that is MUCH more popular
I mean you can get a campaign without doing/learning anything, I can see the appeal
the only people who still play board games post internet are germans
I don’t play tabletop, and I don’t think you’ve been keeping up, Cavill is executively producing W40K with Amazon announced last year
One show
I've been into 40k for like 11 years
Not a cinematic universe
Also executive producer can mean anything
Also this yeah
he could just be an announcer for a tabletop show for all we know
GW doesnt sink money in things it doesnt believe
ala half their animated stuff
lmao
All I’m saying is you guys need to check out his own posts
This, there's literally nothing concrete or set in stone yet
Yeah we'll see what they even do
I dont have much faith
hes just a big celebrity with a big name
at least he actually loves 40k
Not sure why Cavill would agree to do this if he wasn’t passionate or wasn’t able to depict what he has always wanted for years and so many others. I think you guys underestimate his vision and GW’s
i love hearing him nerd out about 40k
A vision is not reality, you still have to deal with all the bullshit regarding trying to bring 40k into live action
Like, the Eternal Crusade team had a fucking great vision for example and look where it brought them
meh it wont be hard to do CGI shit. that's what a lot of scifi is these days anyways
It’s a partnership ongoing as we speak
And GW still has more power than he does
Ye, I mean that the final product may have a lot of problems related to production, costs, cast, fidelity ecc ecc
Having money and an idea is just the first step
I legit got no idea why people think Cavill will be allowed to do anything he wants when we dont even have any idea how much of 40k lore he even knows lmao
There's still the rest of the ladder to climb
you need to watch interviews where he nerds out. he's actually one of us it's crazy
Tbh seeing modern show's cgi/how cgi artists are treated yes I would start to panic
Ehhh nah
like he'll start explaining lore to his interviewers who have no clue what 40k even is
Of course, but it doesn’t change the fact he’s an ambassador of it. It’s practical they chose him because he has been vocal about W40k from time to time, and yes he has tens of millions of followers that are potential customers for GW
I think you are extremely overestimating how much authority he'd have. He's just a flagship celebrity for GW.
AND
40k fans bitch about something GW does then instantly go back to buying from them a day later. They have no conviction and are just mindless consumers, you can never really make a dent in anything GW does unless its their own bad business decisions which has happened in the past ironically
Their opinions dont matter at the end of the day, a large portion of the 40k fandom does not care who Cavill is or what he does.
I’ve seen it, but I’m not deterred. He’s just a passionate guy whether it’s W40k or not
I'll believe it when I see it.

i believe in cavill. having love for a universe already makes you better than most producers
Also having a big fan/series creator behind it doesn't mean it's going to be good.
Have you seen the One Piece live action trailer?
And that has Oda himself at the helm
Oddities, but some people rather complain or be pessimistic than just enjoy what they could from my perspective.
that's a netflix original, it's different
Idk man the only thing Cavill has going for him is that he's hot
He doesn't have too good a track record
That's called reality. I've been in this fandom for more than a decade so I know what's it like believe me

does he?
Also the show is on Amazon
he hasn't done much bad stuff
invincible is on amazon
So is Rings of Power
so is the boys
Neither comparable to the CGI mess that a 40k show would be
The boys literally had to change his entire story
Because the original was the shit one
Lol
we don't talk about the original comics
i think most the boys fans are supernatural fans who desperately needed more content
But basically it's a live action 40k show
Recipe for disaster may be generous
Garth Ennis is also a misogynistic piece of shit
very happy what Amazon did with their own plot
Probably true, to me it’s a state of mind and it’s one I tend not to bogged down by. If I don’t like something, I just move on or try again later 🤷♂️
it's eisenhorn though. probably one of the best choices for a live action remake
This, just this, it's not much about who you put at the helm but the fact that due to how heavy you must go in CGI they could have just funded Lord Inquisitor instead
Im optimistic about the 40k show
Wym, we have no idea what it's going to be
The Dune movies tried and while being extremely epic even they cannot fully capture the scope of the books at times.
Its almost impossible with 40k
i dont think CGI is that expensive these days. lots of shows overuse it a ton
you basically need a MCU movie budget
And again
And they always look bad
Sorry, I mean good cgi
i don't think amazon understands the concept of good CGI
I remember Syama Pedersen of ASTARTES, I wonder about him from time to time. Some wonder if he’s being assigned to the upcoming W40k live action show
Like, unironically a Darktide Tie-in series would be one of the best choices for them lol
i swear the reveal animations for 10th edition were made by him
Space Marines dealing out, style lol
they look like something he'd make
That guy has moved onto other animations
He more than likely works for M2 animation now
you can see it on his patreon
oh
Also rememeber that one of the bit problems is also having good CGI actually interact with live action scenes
Those recent cinematic trailers since 3 years now have been good from my perspective
Stuff like Astartes works because it's All Cgi
They are good because they are Edition trailers
aka where GW can actually use their budget
The studio making them is M2 right
anything else is cheap picture slideshows
Same guys doing Pariah Nexus
i love how shitty the "movie" parts of the boys are because they can't make stuff look as good as actual marvel movies
tv show CGI is so fun
We can debate as is, but everyone knows what made Game of Thrones good (up to S6) was because the actors and their interactions. CGI was just a plus to help with scope of that world
It was more that they had the books to go off of
Game of thrones isn't also set in the universe where absolutely everything is batshit insane
theres not much to debate
game of thrones also used a ton of set dressing and real stuff
it was good until then
And early seasons used ass tons of practical effects
Honestly i can look past some shoddy cgi as long as theres a good story
Much easier to bring medieval times back to life than the 41th millenium with Transhuman demigods and fuckton of aliens
the difference about 40k is you can't make custom sets everywhere because it's all so unique to the setting. in fantasy settings you just go to new zealand and you have 80% of your footage
You kinda can
its basically IRL slums but with skulls and gothic architecture
it just takes time and a budget lol
you'd have to spend so much time making those
Yeah so its not worth live-action
they'd just CGI that shit
They just need to film in London
40k lies in animation
True that, the books are what’s up. I’m sure many are still collectively upset with those writers, goodness, terrible last season is an understatement
GoT got forgotten by the world instantly
i genuinely have never seen anything like it
I should have expected this
you can tell how bad a tv show is when they start going off source material. look at walking dead
LEL
HOTD was very good
I really don’t know how they kept going, I stopped when they left the prison lol
Now there’s 2 or 3 spin-offs
same. weird how popular it remained
People got angry about the Velaryons lol
i think it's boomers who love it
I liked some of the HotD costume design
I haven’t read the book because spoilers, but I know the Velaryons casted worked in the show. Therefore I don’t have a preconception or expectation otherwise
For like Targaryen goons and stuff
The main show had
Far
Far
Far too much black
By the end every fucking main character was wearing like
True, HOTD is of reverence and depiction of their power
Coal black
Jonny and what's her face made sense, one's a nights watch dude and Danny's livery is black
I remember people saying house of the dragon costumes where too fake looking, but I didn't watch it sooo can't say
What’s very nice about HOTD is GRRM seems to have more say than in GoT. Source material being finished as well lol
GRMM also loves working on anything that isnt writing Game of Thrones

its a shame since hes legit gonna die at this point
Yea how long has it been since he’s been writing his sequels? 😆
he once critiqued tolkien and for that reason he is dead to me
Sometimes I wonder if it’s already written, and when he dies it’ll be released as his last work/legacy lol
i can see him trolling like that as his final act
meanwhile stephen king proving that cocaine extends your lifespan
I like to think the last 2 books are already done and he's just keeping them in his attic because he thinks it's funny
George R. R. Martin has been working on The Winds of Winter, the second-to-last book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series since at least 2010. In a new blog post in July 2023, he shared he's been working on the book "Almost every day. Writing, rewriting, editing, writing some more.
jesus christ
And it's all true because other people have said they've seen what he has so far and say it's at least as long as the previous two books combined
so around 1,500 pages
LOTR trilogy movies will always be the set example of what legendary look like. Although I haven’t read the books I know Tolkien describes something in multiple pages I believe, cool they ate food lol

Lol I remember him saying he was writing during the pandemic too
Tolkien is pretty succinct tbh
He'll take a paragraph to be really regale you with how pretty something is and then hit you with "and then someone got stabbed, moving on"
I can only imagine writing, editing, and revising something that’s quite important to many
Lol
I’ll read Tolkien someday, I hear you can learn something year by year as we get older
Start with The Hobbit tbh
It's a literal kids book, even pretty weak readers can get through it in a couple days
Also the best Middle-Earth book by a mile
They were better than all of GoT save maybe Season 1
Also I am back after discovering "Firstborn Daughter"
Pretty based
"just a kid's book" they'd say these days
Anyway who is your favorite son of Feanor and why is it Maglor
i hate elves
if i can critique tolkien for one thing it's that he didn't make dwarves more important
Maglor? From Mystery of the Druids?
by the magic of the druids
unrelated and this is mostly for me but i find it important that earthshaker cannons can be used as AA
very important lore
Implying the guard doesn't small arms fire as AA

that's like the only faction that legit has 0 involvement with that era
They’re almost all sleeping
Tau 🤓
Can you use it in a direct fire role?
yes, apparently
no mention of an AP round though so you're just lobbing HE in a more direct manner
it's almost as good as the german 88mm
They confirmed the Eldar
I mean for romance
The space wolf shoulda been romanceable
Also yeah out of 10 crew members those 4 are the only ones lmao
and 2 of them are straight

My mind immediately thought of the Romance paths for Shepherd in Mass Effect
What the hell does her romantic preference being “unknown” mean lmao
Owlcat pls
sweet! so there's going to be romance in rogue trader?
Romance in a 40k game? Can Love Bloom?
Yeah it was confirmed a while ago
WOOOHOOO
I would love to have a sister of battle waifu that isn't insane for the emprah
or a slaaneshi noble woman
Sister isnt romancable.
Unknown is basically "you are suppose to find out yourself" according to their guy on twitter.
Lol
Marazhai
the fuck lmao
💀
💀
Killing you
Pls no
Yeah I don’t see how the Drukhari companion is gona work out lmao
Considering they’re almost all super xenophobic
A lot of the cast is but they can earn trust
Ah
Like the Ranger is easy
the Drukhari tho i got no idea
its very much prob gonna be a Fallout 4 thing where any time you agree with him your companions will probably hate you lmao
since a lot of his decisions are evil-based because of course
Me when messed up society makes messed up people

Seeing as this is an owlcat game
Companions that don't mesh with you will either leave
Or you will brutally murder them
I want spoilers(I won't play the game(well I might now that I get cash for art, but still))
Can confirm on this one
theres some hilarious contrasting dialogue options where you can just randomly kill your companions out of nowhere
Sounds like an Owlcat game aight
In Wrath you could straight up like
Miss 70% of the companions
And you can kill all of them
Yeah i dont see this much in other RPGs
like I was playing the Rogue Trader beta
and the options they give you are so funny, let me quote
meets companion
"AAA monster!"
Brutal murder
I feel like this is for Argenta specifically
I forgive you. But do not attempt such a thing again
Im gonna skin you fucking alive and parade your body around the bridge as a warning to others

EXCUSE ME WHAT
^
its literally exactly the same here
they offer you so many out of nowhere violent choices
it doesnt seem that graphically demanding
No idea it doesnt even have a price tag atm
Oh they must've bought it then
Yeee
Looks like it
If you get the biggest package your name gets put in the credits
Can you join a chaos cult
not without mods
I don't wanna get skyrim serana again
A shame it won't follow the pathfinder trend of "you can fuck just about everyone"
But I guess it might have to do with GW?
Its possibly that plus probably just lack of effort.
I find it weird because a lot of the human crew members are at N/A.
you basically get 4 partners out of 10 crew members
And one of them is an eldar
Which for one
Based?
But also odd
I hope there's chaos chars you can recruit
How's the char creation @storm jungle
Uhh its kinda simplistic
but i dont remember much about it, its been forever since the beta and i skimmed through mine to get to the game lmao
Ah
thanks for the new game recommendation
I think the only reason for why you have very little romance options is because grimdark, i don't know how rare romance is in warhammer but i'm pretty sure it's the least of everyone's concerns
And the eldar is included on the romance options so
Get ready for a wave of energy so strong that it is enough to feed slaanesh
If romance was the last thing on everyones mind the Imperium would be depopulated in weeks.
Its very much just a lack of effort on the part of the writers.
fair, something like love is very hard to imagine if all you see is the population of a world getting absolutely destroyed by something the universe decided to throw at it
Well yeah but it still happens
Also not everything Eldar do romantically feeds Slaanesh

Im sure the imperium has arranged relationships and stuff like that to "encourage" population increase
i'm not talking about the eldar dilara
you know damn well what i'm talking about
Depends on the planet but yes, eugenics programs are common
Nah
people just bang regularly
even in the most disasterous situations people make kids
I mean one doesn't exclude the other
cadia literally still do that in front of hell
Mostly eugenics are used to get certain "standards" in the pop, not just getting some pop
yeah but its still not widespread
a lot of the imperium's population is naturally made through people just being couples
and with the amount of people the imperium has, they can replace any meat shield lost in the battlefield
Hey man, you look at me and tell me that having a date under a portal to hell isnt romantic
i ain't judging, do what you want

One message removed from a suspended account.
I mean thats very much normal so yea lol
One message removed from a suspended account.
Same, i gotta either write my 40k ocs story or write lore for my dnd game im planning
Lowkey gonna make the warforged in my world similar to necrons and nobody can stop me
One message removed from a suspended account.
Speaking as Female™️ I can confirm.
As the opposite gender, I can say nothing and I will just put this image of a pygmy hippo baby here
It's relevant to 40K Lore trust me
As a 40k fan, i thought women were a thing created by gw to sell more sister of battle and sisters of silence
you're right, see Dilara had to say they're a trademark of the female ip
☝️

After become fem I can confirm warhammer fans have stopped talking to me
good because Warhammer fans are the lowest form of intelligence
looks at twitter hammer
Yeah Dem' humies are a bit koko
It's like world war z a gigantic wall to keep the weirdos out, don't say tourist too many times it'll rile them up they see red when you say that and go kill mode
Like eversor assassins, speaking of does that new assassin based on an old assassin model have lore
It's really cool
Some guy who got into warhammer 3 days ago will inevitably argue with you about lore and call you a tourist
I'll just Photoshop myself into a darktide screenshot with the caption on vacation and it's at the eye tree
Twitter is a violent battleground and therefore it breeds the most battle hardened and aggressive "warhammer fans"
Real life orks
that's an insult to orks
If orks had computers would they be able to reach into a screen and pull out what's on the other side of the screen (weapons, person)
Of course if they believed they could
a bigmek could build an extremely faulty version off that tech
A type of computer that can hack into mainframes and can be used to teleport on available consoles
But of course the chances of you not coming out a malformed pile of sludge is very low
Idk something is funny about an ork seeing like a screen advertising some new imperial weapon and they just stick their hand through like it's a display case and pull the gun out
Because y'know it has to be in there right
For that to happen you will need a lot of orks and krorks
The amount of psychic energy for them to actually need to bend reality is a lot
Ok new hypothetical how many orks can we put in a room to generate the necessary psychic energy like a mob generator in Minecraft
hmm a single weird boy is sufficient, add a couple of nobs boys and maybe a warboss to enhance the output of the weird boy
But the chances of this generator exploding is higher than a cat that eats 500 pounds of cat nip
Depends if they eat the 500 pounds of cat nip at once, hopefully we have a cat that is not that hungry
@coarse pumice since you like posting old art so much https://youtu.be/NCOSao1KEQo?si=hduIMGU8DNpWpuq8
Here it is!
In this first video, John Blanche chats about some of his most iconic art pieces from the Warhammer IP, along with some other select works. Also included is some footage I filmed with Tuomas Pirinen, which I felt was relevant to this video.
With Thanks to:
John Blanche
Tuomas Pirinen
Harry Kaye (@oldworldpaintedblood)
Ronan Dugga...
I was worried about missing the new cities of sigmar box but people are calling it a flop so I know it will be available for wheni can afford it!!!
Because even in AOS the fandom is a hive mind
Flop? Didnt sell well?
hey guys, what if someone makes a romance anime set in the warhammer 40k universe,
W... What you mean by that
just a random thought
if warhammer 40k logic applies IRL too, maybe this might happen with enough belief
oh what can possibly go wrong in the imperium of man
💀
15 hours to complete the romance with your squad member or he/she dies
at least the protag didn't die horribly there
Protag dies martyring themselves in an act of vengance against the ones who killed the lover
Who's calling it a flop? Why? Just because it's not sold out in a day? An odd take if ever saw one
Some 40k YouTubers in my YouTube deed
Feed
Lmao
Been on the edge to ordering one but decided not to because I have way too much stuff to paint already
Aka the worse source of information

Eh yeah
COS seems like literally the ONLY cool normal human faction in all of Warhammer
Current and past
it's so interesting hearing john blanche be so passionate about his art. old school 40k art looked so mass produced and generic 90's
DUDE i keep hovering back to heathkyn kill team store page even though i always eventually convince myself that i already have the whole leviathan box to paint
Multiply that box by four and you have what I have unboxed models waiting to be painted
the struggle is real
That's probably not enough tbh
Yeah but it was the opposite of that
if Blanche didnt do any of his 40k/fantasy artwork warhamer wouldnt have the identity it does now ironically.
Hes basically the godfather of the setting stylistically
his art kinda looks like that one artist who drew really brutal imagery
i dont remember his name
Either way his Blanchitsu style is very unique and very much his own thing.
It def made me appreciate some things more
Like the old Templar artwork
The more impressive thingi s that all of those were traditional artworks
Yep literally every detail and stroke is made by hand
And he still does it today after like 3 decades
One day I'll be able to make official stuff....
Thanks to necromunda I now know that leprosy still exists in the year 40k
And also the money laundry scheme of life long renting exists too
Even in the year of 40000 tax evasion and lack of health care exists
Pretty much any sort of thing we have in modern times exists in 40k yeah
just more grimdank

Grim dark DMV
none of us non americans understand what that means
Has there ever been lore that involved a space marine dancing?
^
The Recreators brave Genestealer strongholds to slaughter and amuse, wreak havoc and provoke a sigh. In short, the Recreators enter Genestealer Space Hulks and dance, just to prove they can.
Absolute sigma shit
Y'all think there's an equivalent of the ASVAB for the Astra Militarum?
I mean the average imperial citizen can barely spell Militarum
What's that
if this is related to education then it depends on the planet
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test. Long story short, it’s meant to measure the applicant’s Educational understanding. Verbal, Math, Science, Technical, and Spatial. The higher your score is, the more you qualify for specific occupations in the branch of the military in real life
militarum don't recruit ogryns for their knowledge
And Cadians are trained from practically birth.
also how is any of us non americans supposed to understand that term 🙄
this is why i exclusively use metric system. fighting fire with fire
Too bad I prefer the metric system
So yeah, I doubt the Imperium has the time, nor care, for a piece of paper that determines how well you qualify for a role in the Militarum. You a Human? Good. You a Citizen? Great! You love the God Emperor? Even Better! Congrats you made it into the Guard. Here’s a lasgun and a copy of the Infantryman’s Uplifting Primer to use as asswipe while in the field.
This is gibberish
That’s the American Military for ya. We’re not as badass as we used to be.
Implying the American military was at any point in history badass lmao
Poor sods you fall for your own military propaganda so hard
I grew up on the principle of the “Greatest Generation”. Who gave up their future to fight a tyranny in the 40s that would’ve altered the foundation of human rights. Not just Americans, but every man and woman who were fighting against evil itself even if they didn’t know it at the time. That’s the American Military I “looked up to”, not suckling the teat and falling hard on propaganda.
Sorry to break it to you bud but that narrative is straight up propaganda
WW2 militaries sure had some nice looking uniforms
Looks like I found the cynical one in this server.
Or a troll either way you should ignore them
Not really looking to argue tbh man, just felt like I should share the fact that your perspective doesn't exist outside of the US
Agreed
So warhammer… what do you think we will see at nova on Wednesday?
Not entirely sure to be frank. Maybe and hopefully I can view what the other Space Marine Minis would be if the Astartes won the Battle of Oghram
Yeah that seems likely especially since there codex’s should be the first one release in the coming months
If the Primaris vanguard gets their spotlight as well that’d be neat.
For AoS
New ironjawz
Flesh eater courts
For 30k, new MK3 kit
For 40k, the marine side of Oghram
Oh and some Bretonnians for old world
I’m thinking we might see new jump pack marines to tie in the the space marine 2 game and because space marines seem to be primarisifying the older model range like for terminators and stern guard veterans
Right right, that does some plausible in preparation for SP II’s release. Which is probably going to be the only game I’m getting this year. That gameplay two days ago? Mhmm chef’s kiss
Hope there’s more tyranid types than what they showed. A lictors would be cool
There are lictors
I'm thinking of buying either rogue trader or baldurs gate
Imagine if we could see a Tervigon? Those things look gnarly, even their minis.
that would be a pain to kill
where there? I didn't see any in the gameplay footage
I gotta give props to Saber Interactive when it came to the background environment. It captures the massive scale of warfare. It doesn’t feel static.
I only hope they maintain it once full game releases
the american military was badass when it had to replace all the old useless officer corp with a younger generation to adapt with the times. Old farts lead to toxic stagnant leadership that makes you work your job outside pay hours without giving overtime because that's how it was in their time
No
They want them stupid
but not that stupid
it's borderline inhuman how grunts are treated. you'd think it was 40k with how abused they are
It’s why I love the Guard. Outside of battle strategies based on 2nd world war and 1st world war scenarios, they are just average men who stem the tide against Chaos and Xenos threats.
same
i like that their equipment is shit too
but they make do with what they have
You ever listened to “Pity the Guardsman” from Vox in the Void? Downright drew me to tears hearing it.
ye
Just like the guard in the imperium
This is also the same military willing to waste resources to make a walking church to send the prayers directly to you same day shipping
nah that's a division of the mechanicus
I just realized Slaanesh would make for a great horde shooter opponent, though it might make a warhammer game to an AO rating, but 40k kind of is already
think about, cultist and daemons of slaanesh only care about pleasure, and pleasure of any form including pain. So a couple bolts from a lasgun is going to tickle them before they get to meet their prince
as for Tzeentch, since his theme is change - it'll be mostly fighting against a disenfranchised populace mixed with turncoat regular forces, just with fewer mutations spotted. however at that point it's not a horde shooter, but more tactical shooter
Khorne would be fun to fight in a horde shooter
Fighting hordes of whoever this guy is from the world eater codex
it would just be doom
All the Chaos Gods followers would make great bases for tide/hordes
Yeah he would
But would khorne be in a urban environment like a hive?
Fair
Gameplay wise there's no argument there, I mean when it comes to chaos, the guard and friends are basically living Darktide
I wonder what would the story be for Khorne though? Why would the average schmuck join him
No argument for or against?
No argument against
Story wise though, I can imagine an average soldier or irregular combatant suffering from a strange bout of combat fatigue joining khorne. But for the average person
Tzeentch, Nurgle, even Slaanesh, seems like better candidates in influencing an imperial planet
Well 2 of the most famous "Khornate" cults that we've seen are the Blood pact and the Corpse Grinder Gang (Necromunda, they Khornate but at the same time they aren't
In Darktide/Atoma's case I think the best way to do each cult is to do it as follow:
Khorne: Enforcer Cult Enforcer are some of the most brutal workers of the Hives, they deal with droves of convicts and deal with it with liberal application of their matraques
Global: Less accented on ranged attacks but better melee fighters
Horde: Press ganged convicts/prisonners (Hey, maybe you'll see your old cell mates)
Normal/Elites: Flak and Carapace armoured pieces of armour; also access to Riot shields (Look wise basically Enforcers and some Corpse Grinder Gangs)
Ogryn/Heavy Elites: Armoured close range fighters (Eg: Ogryn with a Shotgun and armour) and Lesser Daemon
Monster: Hound of Khorne (Oversized, but smallest Monster); Sanctioner Servo-Automatas/Servitor
Lord: Traitor Arbites (Power Maul and Shield or Power Ram; Grenade Launcher or Bolter)
I thought the corpse grinder gang aren't a khornatte cult since they worship a different entity entirely - unless it's just a manifestation of khorne
Oh that would be cool
Yeah, they're Khornate but they aren't
Yeah, even in warhammer fantasy it's common for sentient beings to refer to chaos god's on their own distinct custom name made for them
Same thing with most Warcry warband in AoS
Huh never knew...so does the same work principle for the emperor?
Yes
Yeah, its always been a thing
theres no way everyone in the galaxy can know the proper titles for every deity.
Yes, the space sharks call the emperor Rangu, the void father
Bro why did you think i sent that Thanos gif and say new pfp
So somewhere out there the emperor is just called God, and the four chaos Gods are called the devil
Probably
Oh hey the Sienna VA does the Githyanki queen in BG3, cool
traitor arbites? no way in hell
also arbites don't work with enforcers to begin with
this is specifically the reason why: so they don't start doing evil stuff together
Well there are Traitor Enforcers , but they act more like Commissars for Traitor Guard (WH40K TTS Reference)
You could say that those guys were convicts who some how got their hands on Enforcer equipment
Most likely from KIA Enforcers themselves
Traitor Enforcer in the TT are Commissar. Not Enforcer turned traitor
I always find it funny how that head axe is the least useful thing you could do
Yes
Easier to say than finding back what the leaders of Enforcers are called
So they would be Scab. Not part of that Khornate faction
i think it depends on the world. even arbites themselves have a super flexible command chain that seems to invent titles all the time
Yeah. I think a lord that look like an Arbites would work quite well
Maybe but I don’t see there role in Scab Faction
Also Khornates could have cultists Armed with Autopistols and Melee weapons at the same time
Dual wielding I mean
Second Scab Lord type ? Maybe Scab Commissar and Ogryn Bodyguard
Could be good
it would if the equipment was stolen. realistically it would take a ton of special circumstance for an arbites to turn traitor and you better believe the moment this happens his former teamates would do everything they can to punish them
it's like a sister of battle turning traitor. their biggest enemy becomes other sisters of battle
Tzeentch faction?
idk how psyker enemies would work
maybe they'd counter the playable psyker's powers
Maybe they will be able to do a Head Pop 💀
like an even more dangerous sniper
And I think they will use a wide variety of mutated cultists and lesser chaos spawns
Like hordes of Mutoid Vermin from TTS
why use tzeentch to begin with then if you wont use the magic stuff
kinda defeats the purpose
Meaning?
Oh
Understood
I suggest meat shields for sorcerers
And other funny guys
Like for lord you could have some Cultists Sorcerer on disc of Tzeentch
Psyker should only be the ranged elites. Specials and Lords
The rest being puppeted civies (Thralls) Mutant rabble and similar
Well for casual units (not low tier trash you could have) Tzaangors
Or some kind of Elite
Flamer of Tzeentch is an obvious monster pick. And since TWW imply that the Muthalid Vortex beast us Tzeentchian maybe that as second monster
True
we dont really fight many proper demons
Also Changeling would be cool
Yet. But Plaguebearers as tanky elites would be good
Or maybe you could just fill up ranks with Blue and Pink Horros
I think we need Lord on Palanquin of Nurgle
Also maybe some missions about destroying Miasmic Magnifiers
i dont get what melta guns are supposed to be from an in-universe perspective
Mean their technology or what?
Or purpose?
Cheap Close Range AT Guns for Infantry
Not even that close range
does plasma go boom while melta go melt
Possibly
it's a confusing gun
Well , in real world 100 meters is pretty close range for engaging Enemy Armor
how it works is a mystery too. apparently it can be both a chemical reaction AND a beam of energy
Schrodinger's Melta
Yes
like why can it be both? that just makes me ask more questions
Melta is cool in lore but in TTS it became crap like Plasma and Missile Launchers
😔
i like to imagine if it's a beam weapon then it literally sends a beam of microwave energy
Over energised matter to the point it become pure energy
Those also exist
IRL you use those against protesters if you lack a moral compass
probably wont work on a tank
i like the idea that melta guns were once for mining
we don't see enough of archeotech being used for a completely different purpose than intended
Most GSC weapon
Meh , don`t have very big disspersion
that's different
it's too direct with GSC. using a wrench as a melee weapon isn't the same as finding a schematic for a farm tractor and then using it as a tank
Like yeah you could penetreate in lines but i think disspersion would do better
what do you mean
What about using a Seismic Cannon as a weapon ?
I melta was meant as a crowd control weapon it would had less penetration capabilities but more dispersed firing arc
Meaning that from 1 shot you would likely kill 3-4 targets in front of you and not 3-4 in line behind one target
ok that's pretty funny yeah
No it's amazing I swear
I mean it's tough because it's not the impact piece on the front
But someone else could use them as a weapon
Melta looks more like Heat AT weapon like current day AT Launchers
They just need to have a strong neck
i was talking about real life microwave weapons. they're used to hurt protesters because it cooks your skin a bit and hurts a ton
Oh
About that
Yes
Looks at the neck cage right under the head
Trust me I am a normal person , totally not a Chaos Follower
And they Field same role in Warhammer
Like compact close range AT
So Infantry could use it easier than bulky Missile Launchers
whenever i think of that i immediately think of a game where you have to build yourself a suit of reflective material (literally the inside chip bags) to get into a base protected by anti protester microwave stuff
What game is that lmao
Well also have a stab proof head
And melta has a plus which plasma also has , you could fire it from prone position
And it doesn't explode when it's not properly used
Melta yes
Like cheap , reliable
I don't think it's cheap
neo scavenger. i recommend it
And most of faction just dump their tanks in armoured spearheads
Is there a Sseth review on that?
Cheaper than archiotec plasma from M.35
Yes
If yes then I know it
I was gonna link it
yes
It's the one where you beat someone to death with a squirrel for their shoes
i mean that's what seth did
You can
it's not something you'd normally do
It's effective
Afaik they're about the same logistically
But it’s actually sad that in 10th edition plasma , melta and missile lost their AT capabilities 😔
Also Guard still use krak missiles afaik
Yes but as I said
And ☝️
one last thing about neo scavenger, it runs on flash so pressing escape minimizes window and you will do it SO often by accident
Pretty miserable that IG don’t field any infantry ATGM’s (like hunter killer missiles but not on vehicles)
they got both the heavy weapons team and the field ordinance thing
HWT’s use Lascannon’s , Mortars , Heavy Bolters and Multi-lasers
you can also build a missile launcher
Ye
Field Ordinance Batteries use howitzers and Grad like artillery
it's a field cannon, a bigger laser cannon or a hydra-like missile launcher
sadly it's considered arty in 10th though which fucking sucks
Meh just Missile Launcher on bipod
is that not literally what a TOW launcher is
Well Rapier Carrier is also considered and arty in 10th
Yes , but TOW is guided
how do you know
I don't think the guard could afford mass guided missiles
Because it looks Like Panzershreck on bipod
Not enough space for a human skull on the rocket
Ah yes
Make them small
Small skulls
💀
That’s the solution
I don't think using children is the play chief
it's a pretty simple mechanism actually. guided missiles don't require computers or anything, they just need to follow the laser pointer
Who cares ?
Phahaha
Laser guided ATGM’s
True Chad’s use Wire Guidance
Like most 80-90’s ATGMs
it boggles my mind that air tracking technology could kill a jet going 2000km/h at super high altitude but we still used mechanical controls for missiles
After I'm done with da comm im gonna draw a bunch of guard Regiments, which ones should I do?
valhallans
Some custom Feudal Regiment
i recently learned about them and i think they're my new favorite regiment
I'll give them ahistorical larp brigantines
🫡
Similar with Firstborn for me
like krieg but soviet and actually willing to die to their own artillery
I don’t like Krieg at all
Also KV2s
It’s all because of dumd sapper shovel memes
Those get old but I'm very tired of the fanbase not knowing what they're talking about and being either deluded, Nazis, or both
gives me an excuse to print the many soviet inspired leman russ proxies
german proxies are CRINGE
Well that’s why in 9th edition they had a Stratagem called “Send Another Wave In” which gave you an Infantry squad resurrection
#warhammer #warhammer40k
In this tutorial I show you how to kitbash a Valhallan Ice Warrior Kill Team

i'll make their uniforms red like mounties and i'll have my canadian larping
Have you ever told a Krieg fan what 2 of their regiments did on Vraks
If you need some information about Red Army , for inspiration mostly I can know something
(they ran the hell away and fragged commissars who tried to stop them)
i already know way too much about the red army don't worry
How could this happened? Krieg never retreats - Casual Krieg fan
Yeah they miss the part of krieg where they're obsessed with "worthy deaths"
Okay , so now you could be enlisted comrade 🫵
seriously why do memes make kriegers out to be so powerful
Stupidity
Because all they see is emotionless killing machine
Me like so must be perfect and great and badass and great
you know the fucked up part in all this is that a lot of these people probably think kriegers are inspirational
Grab your Century Old Lasgan , Flak Helmet and Entrenchment Tool
They also have a very healthy, totally sane Nazi population because of course they do
the masculine urge to die in battle for no good reason
Tbf the Krieger urge would be to die for a good reason
im actually surprised to learn that krieg isn't even known for its trench warfare
In vision of most Krieg fans they seem as mindless husks whom face are covers behind mask so you don’t see a human face and reaction to different situation
memes ruined my image of them
That's how Dead Man Walking portrays them iirc
But afaik recent stories give them more emotion
And in Cain books they're pretty normal until they get to combat
They're more human than cadians lmao
And like I 100% some Krieg lasman would had a shitted face when he saw his comrades slain but 2 feet tall Khorne Berzerk
i legit thought they didn't even talk
Krieg is a depleted husk of a planet
Cadia is a fortress with a population
Everyone's a soldier, their entire lives are drills
"no nonsense" is putting it mildly
Well I would say know that Cadians are more humane
Because most of them aren’t Cadians
True!
But yeah cadia was bleak af
You know how the Sentinels at the tomb of the unknown soldier look all robotic sometimes?
Also I don’t understand
Imagine that but an entire planet
If Cadia was a Fortress World mostly dedicated to defending it self
Why would you have Cadian Shocktrooper Regiments?
The tithe still has to be paid
this guy made a mosin lasgun and a fedorov lasgun
And not Siege Infantry Regiments
Using Darktide as an example, Atoma is going through a huge war, and they're still expected to pay the tithe
Same deal
Tbh
Fists like shock infantry
But their schtick is defense
Me when I just learned that the tomb of the unknown soldier is not a thing that's only in my country
Anyhow yeah, Vostroya for the win
Afaik people usually refer to the American one when using the name so I didn't bother clarifying
Like in mine (🇺🇦)
Crap IL-2
Recently learned of "Firstborn Daughter"
jet powered IL-2
Apparently the Firstborn were very averse to letting women into the guard
Where is my T-26s based on Cyclop chassis ?
Ah yes... Wich of the Five they got
Then Wickers 5 tons is also your favourite
Apparently my taste in tanks is supremely cursed
?
I like British tanks
Well , it’s not that bad
i rarely see the "original" tanks that the soviet union copied mentioned
At least it’s not Italian Tanks (from WW2)
At least they arnt french tanks
I also like the handful of Hungarian ones that existed
tank development between WW1 and WW2 was crazy
bad ideas getting copied all the time
Also BT-5 is copied from some American tank but I don’t remember from what
the british independent being copied by like 4 countries and all of them being ass
so funny
It isn't copied I think, they took the suspension from some american guy
Who sold it to them
Romanian tank destroyers on T-26s chassis
i thought the christie suspension was sold to the soviets
It was iirc
I may be incorrect
Because it’s usual for commies to copy stuff
there's a blurring of the lines often though. soviets would purchase AND copy stuff
look at ford trucks being copied
T14 using the samee engine as a tiger 2 from ww2
Should I play Stronghold or Bannerlord
I mean they were made by Fiat, not much to expect there
Well not the same , but a modernised version
military R&D is mostly just copying others. always been that way
I like the new Rogal tank
Its still obsolete by 60 years
Admire our baby tank!
Is it stupid? probably
But I love the idea of massive moving bunkers that push up and just lock an area down
Well soviets made pretty good tank designs like T-54 , T-55 , T-62 , T-64 , T-72
He’s so cute
True
and a lot of that stuff is copied from other countries. then those other countries copy the soviets. it's how military development works
everybody's constantly copying whatever works
True , for example Soviets made their AGS-17 “Fire” after inspecting trophy American Automatic Grenade Launcher from Vietnam
what i like is when bad stuff gets copied
Like some American AT mines that were meant to be deployed from air
soviets copied the british independent to make the T-35. i think germans copied them and made their own heavy tank too. the issue is that they were all much too big for their engines and were never used in combat
Soviets copied initial designs with it flaws and called it PTM-3
lol
T-35 seen combat during 1941
didn't it immediately break down
Early soviet doctrine sounds hilarious
There some accounts that their amour even took a few hits
early tank doctrine in general was funny
Late soviet doctrine sounds like Atomic Destruction of humanity
all the old generals didn't know how to use them so they'd just do whatever
Like how Mechanised divisions should go through area that was just struck by tactical nuke
imagine installing a portable nuclear bomb launcher on the back of a jeep
oh wait
that happened
Davy Crockett Moment
letting an army sergeant decide if one day he wants to end the world or not
nothing will go wrong
I think IG vehicles need more firing deck
Macarthur moment
Because all they have is some crappie lasgun arrays on chimera
Well he proposed nuclear strike on USSR (or China) during Korean War
It was china
you know it's more fucked up when you take into account the fact that MAD wasn't much of a thing yet so he probably thought that no big repercussions would come out of nuking most of north korea
early cold war was something else. nukes were a viable option for warfare
Yeah it was wild
part of me really wants to know what an early cold war battle with small nukes would be like though
like a fucking jeep could carry around a payload strong enough to kill a tank battalion in a single shot
rocks fall, everyone dies
Funny fact if there were no nuclear disarmament in 90’s my country would be in first 10 countries with most nukes
Casual
Skill issue from the tank side
Yeah , you shouldn’t concentrate yourself
not even. there weren't enough high yield nukes for that and because it was mostly delivered by planes then you could still intercept them
Cold War warfare just wouldnt work, a lot of people have covered this
the mass use of nukes would just kill everyone
a small scale nuclear war could have happened and it's crazy to think about
True
people back then just didnt realise this
im speaking about 1945-1955 ish
very early
yes difference
People have no idea how powerful nukes were back then
Like in current world you don’t need to have a nuke to destroy a country or stop it from attacking you
you had to deploy them by plane though. they could be intercepted
Doesnt change anything
also not everybody could refine the uranium to do it
Nukes will be nukes
there werent thousands of nukes like today
they would eventually, like how it happened afterwards
all it takes is a few document and scientists leaks and boom
lol
that's why im talking about early cold war
1949 all over again
and no it's not just boom you suddenly built an entire nuclear industry
knowing how to do it is one thing
It doesnt matter much once you get nukes tbh
Problem is not the start of such a war but the development
a lot of european nations would have nukes if it wasnt a taboo thing
You need to maintain them
Yeah I'm aware

Your country had nukes in it at one point
Well then yes
you need a lot more than just 5 or so nukes to win a war. just imagine trying to send a plane to moscow or new york, you'd need like 30 just to cover the bombers that get shot down
Yeah we had a base for the U.S during the missile crisis
Its all dependant because nuclear war is a mess
its why its such a broad subject
I mean I live in Italy so any situation that's not mutually assured destruction means we somehow are on the winning side at the end
At one point my country had a lot of soviet nukes , but they were to pricy to keep 😔
it really really wasn't at first. it was very similar to conventional warfare
Yeet
ICBM's werent even an idea yet
Are you Ukranian

Nukes are extremely expensive to maintain
Yes
