Bc I was thinking and each one kinda fleshes out the roster for pve enemies a fair bit
Like Khorne would give you semi-specials that are a lot more elite than the pure chaffe of nurgle and require a bit more attention and thought bc they're tankier and hurt more (but less model density) and a bunch of cool boss fights/tanky bruiser specials
Tzeentch would be good for adding utility variants like the trapper, sniper tox flamer etc that kinda alter how you approach a fight and maybe a cool psyker boss fight
And Slaanesh would be stuff like the hounds but also add a tiny bit of chaffe variety, super fast units that hide in corners, crawl up walls and try to catch you by surprise. I also really wanna have a mission where you walk into a room, see an infernal enrapturess in the middle of the room, then the doors slam shut, she starts playing and the room becomes a horde survival against daemonettes, slaangor and fiends
You could even tie the knot on the whole thing and have Vashtorr + gellarpox stuff that's for super lategame and it makes everything armoured and tankier
Like ik its kinda fanservicey for this Nurgle infected planet to suddenly turn into chaos soup but idk maybe the prisoners do really well and become a suicide squad that gets sent to other planets
Did the emperor have a favorite son
Sanguinus probably
It's the most likely expansion type updates. Though we do know that those aren't gonna be paid unless change of plans
Vulkan
There are no heroes in 40k
Only zeroes
is it ever mentioned whether flak armour is metal or ceramic
Horus was given the warmaster title after the emperor retired to terra. It caused a lot of jealousy from his brothers
i again recommend reading the first 4 HH books because it explains all of this
The quality entirely depends on the Forge World that made it. Some Worlds produce Flak armour that makes our modern body armour look like wet tissue paper. Other Worlds produce Flak armour that is barely better than what we make now. It’s inconsistent by design
Its more or less just glorified kevlar.
so what differentiates between flak and carapace? just the amount of material used?
ok so carapace is just heavy
i thought it was servo assisted or something but that would fall under power armour
Yeah no
Carapace is just full on resistant-armor
for example the only units that have it in game are like the Maulers and Crushers.
Every Moebian traitor guardsman in comparison wears standard issue flak armor.
flak is more protective than i thought
but as the name implies i think it's more made to resist against shrapnel and stuff
Full Plate is considered to be similar to Flak
so is flak armour more comparable to WW2 flak vests that bomber crews had or is it more comparable to modern bullet resistant vests
It’s similar to irl level 4 body armor
Which is modern vests + plate carrier
- Level IIA: This level offers protection against lower velocity 9mm and .40 S&W ammunition.
- Level II: Provides increased protection, including higher velocity .357 Magnum and 9mm ammunition.
- Level IIIA: Offers even greater protection, suitable for high-velocity 9mm and .44 Magnum ammunition.
- Level III: Resists rifle rounds, specifically 7.62mm FMJ lead core rifle ammunition.
- Level IV: The highest NIJ body armor level, designed to withstand armor-piercing rifle rounds.
I'd say level 3 tbh
Level 4 is usually wrecked after one use tbf
True
that's only for fiber and ceramic materials
True
steel can just be hammered back
which is why im wondering what flak is more comparable to
so what would carapace armor rank then?
Prolly ceramics
Considering you can eat a bolter shot and live in it
Pretty damn good
Now granted the armor is gona be a mess
And so will you
But you’re alive
We know flak is decently light
but it wouldn't be on the comparable scale as the body armor types we currently have?
i meant carapace not ceramic lol
It’s way beyond anything we have
Regarding wearability
Anything similar to carapace protection irl would suck to be in
it would be like having a plate carrier for every inch of your body
damn
Which would suck for a lot of reasons lol
what i find interesting is why it's considered rarer than flak. if it's just thicker material then why not equip more guardsmen with it
als because life is cheap
The gear the gaurdsman carries is worth more than his life
Nah I'm arguing, in bad faith to boot
True
i want problems always
I am the problem and i will only be a worse one tomarrow
except farsight i think idk i never read it
do you think when roboute works out he calls it ultramaxxing
💀
Average istvanain inquistor
Roboute goes up to his Father's throne. "Hey Pops, I figured I made some changes since I'm in charge. I renamed Terra to UltraTerra. How'd you think if I renamed the palace to the Ultrapalace?". And then Big E's bones just disintegrate from the sheer insanity of adding "ultra" to any word.
Mcterra
The Ultra-seed by replacing gene
"sir we already have something called ultra-seed"
Least battle addicted ork
do you think that ork poets lament about how society wants peace instead of war
I'm still surprised imperial mesh armour is still a thing
if we get more lore about orks and humans working together in 10th then im forgiving everything
The thing is hiring them as mercenaries is a double-edged sword that is being swung around by a very very angry child
It can be both beneficial and a detriment
It has happened and the most cases it resulted in the classic green skin tomfoolery
Backstabbing
Yeah they'd just scrap with the humies later
sounds like a win win
Because generally timmy from Agria IX isn't actually a perfectly disciplined hard labour power lifter
Sure you can smack massive armour plates on him weighing more than he does, mixed with all his gear
But he'll probably collapse before he does anything meaningful
You need to be pretty physically fit to wear carapace
also it isn't that rare
its just the imperium doesn't want to spend the extra money on it
Its why specalist veterans of guard regiments like Catachan Devils, Death Korps Grenadiers or Kasrkin wear it
I consider it more like comparing a padded tunic/gamberson (flak) to full plate armour (carapace)
But in spesh
As the concept is similar, while one is a mishmash of layers of whatever protective stuff your world got the other is a thick full plate of sometimes plasteel, sometimes even ceramite
then I'd like to know how tf the Harakoni still manage to remain mobile during their descent if it'd be that heavy
They're an elite regiment
for one
like every single soldier they put out is arguably kasrkin level
And grav chutes allow a goddamn sentinel
to remain mobile during descent
so I'm sure they just have extra thick ones
Also it's not that heavy when you consider they lug around battery backpacks constantly
true
also based on art they don't use full body carapace
like Kasrkin or grenadiers or scions
Damn. GW what is it going to take to get these guys to get their own mini's?
i sorta assumed that it was like crushers, and you needed to be ogryn strong to be in all cara
while like the bucket head guys, maulers, human sized people can wear it but can't really encrust themselves in it
I mean it pretty much looks like a modern kasrkin tbh
Tbh I do like the more logical aproach to carpace nowadays
where they can actually move their fucking legsl ol
there's less armor on the body
I mean only piece I don't see is the groin guard
And the glove armour lol
Ye, I basically consider it like having a modern/sci fi plate armour
Especially looking at the scions ones
ye
very nice imperial guard art 👀
I look at that art and all I can see is Tobin Bell who plays Jigsaw.
actually wait, Roy Batty from Bladerunner
yeah there we go. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."
When the god emperor was alive was the imperium the same as it is now or no?
Like horrible hive cities
Racism against abhumans
Mostly
It was slightly less shitty
But abhumans were still second class citizens
the blackships were being put into effect
hive cities were shit when Big E found them
Im guess the only major difference was no one was super religious
That and also the average quality of life was up
it was less shitty
and improving in some places
Then fucking horus
Shoulda known something was up with a name like horus heresy smh my head
Before horus there was also the Great Crusade, which also sucked for the most parts
That too
ngl I really wish people would stop doing the cloaking alpha legion stuff
its cool but the way they blend in in lore is cooler
The marines in Sons of the Hydra have armour that can change colours
But that warband did kinda read like some Pet OC
I prefer the Alpha master painter than cloak tech
Designated Picasso
"Operative Auric 4 Taurox, prepare paint cans!"
tbh that book is weird
but I really like the fact that alpha legion can replicate the other legions armor just good enough to blend in
on the battlefield
Beloved HH 1k sons <3
Probably my favorite HH design
In Darktide my Zealot will semi-frequently bring up "Equity" and my veteran will call others "Comrade". Is this normal vocabulary for WH40K culture for the religious zealots, and the guard members? Or is this something just in Darktide?
Its just normal english words
Is it common to their usual lexicon
I mean
they are just people
its how they speak
its to portray their mannerisms and personality
Like I have a friend who always calls me "broski" instead of "bro" jokingly, its quirks people have like that when they talk with one and other.
The Zealot just uses more complex words because he/she has obviously read a lot of literature, the Vet meanwhile just uses your regular army talk
Those words seem out of place to me, so I was wondering if they're established as part of the universe lexicon for their origins.
Why would they be out of place?
can kasrkins NOT be from Cadia guys?
no
the "Kasr" in their name is literally named after the big fortress hive cities on Cadia.
The last thing I see a devote Umperium of Man devoty would be equity, and it didn't seem to be used properly, unless it was sarcastically or ironically.
What Zealot said this, was it the Judge?
alright then, are there storm troopers out there that can have the kasrkin armor camo and such?
No
its special only to Kasrkin
its basically like asking can American special forces wear SAS outfits.
lmao
I mean I'd assume that's the case but so far it's used pretty liberally in Darktide xD
Eh its just cosmetics
Comrade in all circumstances tend to be communist culture and particularly the military, and I don't see the coronation
🍿
I bought the Dax Karakin bundle, love it but then realized that I didn't exactly want my Veteran to be "Cadian" in the first place, now I'm bothered xD. it's silly
Theres a really funny lore to that gear actually
you can read its bio
it says the people dont even know if Dax is actually a kasrkin
or its just people mistaking his name

fuck military strategy, i wanan learn about 40ks economics
yeah I read it haha, but still
i want to play buisness ismulator in 40k universe
Yeah basically just dont read too much into it, when you buy cosmetics from the shop its more or less just "gameplay reasons"
You're dodging my point. So never mind
tryna think of some fluff that I can kinda justify my non-cadian veteran wearing cadian stuff, xD. But I get it, it's simply cosmetics
I'd much prefer Death korps outfit tho, for sure
What point?
Also like
the entire script was written by Black Library authors
I think like... 4 of them if i remember the credits right?
So if they think it fits, it fits.
Its really not that big of a deal.
I was wondering if it was established in the WH40K universe to use words like this.
You didn't give me a "yes/no/I don't know" answer to this really simple question.
I did though
Its not a Yes or No question, they just speak that way because its in their vocabulary. Its not lore-breaking.
Literally almost every english word exists in 40k since the writers only tweak them when it has any ties to the 21st century.
Such as tweaking "god damn it" to just "throne damn it" and so on.
So smaller words like Comrade/Equity are at the lowest bar
So, this is a lore question. Is there precedence for this sort of word use?
Yes/No/I Don't Know
Yes.
Thank you
As said above.
So you say yes but you mean no. Got it
it's pretty common in American English o use comrade in the like, if arms sense? I feel like I see that in media pretty often idk
Im done honestly lol
also yeah pretty much
people just get used to hearing western media use it for russians constantly
so it gets skewed
like I can picture some court show going "you were comrades weren't you" and they Def didn't mean "you were communists"
^
its also an effect of uhhh
russian characters in fiction speaking english constantly using "comrade" for everything ala tovarisch
the metal guy from Xmen did that a lot
Also Nikolai from Zombies
and just... so many english speaking russian characters

its just english words
yes people in setting use them
cause they speak english
Kasrkin are from Cadian regiments or Regiments with a past from Cadia that still use cadian styled training
But generally speaking most regiments have their own name for it
@storm jungle why did you even bother with that interaction
like im trying to think of something to say but i can't even wrap my head around the idea of interpreting communist messaging from common 2 words in a video game
i can't even make a joke
the guy was legit asking if saying a word is normal in the setting as if he spotted a political enemy in fatshark studio
Yeah I didn't really know what to say aside from "this is how people speak"
im framing this on my wall
It reminds me of uh
Bodyguard Ogryn killing a flamer and going
"Flamer's toast, HAHA GET IT?"
and I was like
"WAIT, THAT MEANS TOASTERS EXIST OH MY GOOOOD"

did you expect the word toast to come from the modern kitchen appliance
haha the word toast comes from old french
and now it's an anglicism to say toaster in french
knowing both of these languages is extremely confusing
Theres worse examples
Are there any topics that GW tries to avoid?
Actual irl racism
Because suprise they don’t like it
I'm liking how often alternative lifestyles and sexualities are being treated in the books and literature as normal and positive, but fair enough there Elit3 with that comment
aside from that there's not very much taboo for GW
Ig rape but they do have it in books and stories
Warhammer is about war, except it's the cool war where cool guys do cool things and save the day or get eaten by bugs, and no one has families and no one needs years of therapy because a guy they served with 20 years got eaten by a bug
Obviously they do play with trauma and loss sometimes as topics, but's it's not something they want you to think about when you see "warhammer", they want you to think about the cool wars with the cool guys
Anything that would make that image less fun, and therefore less marketable, is something they aren't really going to give a lot of time to
@arctic talon @crimson kayak I want Asha to be able to say something like ‘I see humans, but no humanity.’ At some point.
Humanity pretty much isn't a thing in warframe
so that doesn't really apply imo
none of the factions identify as human really
Not even in reference to the Imperium?
thats a special level of stupid. almost on the level of D4 fans defending D4 as not being an RPG lmao
warframe is over 2 MILLION years in the future so all of 40k came and went long long before that game's story
the Orokin where the closest thing to humans left in the sol system before their fall
It’s actually more like 500 thousand something 🤓
oh
still
its insane
literally the farthest in the future of any sci fi
not counting the ones that timetravel and go to like the heat death of the universe lol
Only reason why the solar system isn’t a shit hole is bcs the orokin loved terraforming
And pretty much every single person no matter how human they look is prolly gene modded to hell and back
yup
i know its a meme but its still a funny point in the lore imo
i refuse to let eldar have anything
whoever made that meme was so butthurt about it lmao
their fault for fangirling over the literal OP faction
you don't see me complaining about guardsmen getting massacred
Custodes fans were butthurt by 3 things.
This one
That part during the Horus Heresy where some Custodes became controlled by Horus
And ghr Custodes who were infected by the Khorne thingy not so long ago
I've seen some mad about the Norn Emissary killing 5 of them and almost killing valdor
if you want to bitch about the mary sue faction the leagues of votaan are right now
actually some of the worst fluff GW has written by far lol
everything is just Imperium but better lul
Like its still an authoritarian hellhole but they have a lot of numbers, and STCs lol
then again they've gotten 0 lore so maybe there's some bad things about them lol
but for now its just dumb
The writer was correct, harlequins should be able to slaughter custodies though
the issue is more so how its presented
tbf
both sides literally act like idiots
its pretty out of character
That’s par for the course for black library
true
but running into a literal killing field set up by a Shadowseer and Death Jester is beyond silly lol
War of the beast in general just sucks
The entire plot literally gets resolved offscreen lol
whole ass army + fleet struggles to kill ork
then the other 11 all die off screen
Clown town
If i remember this happened during the beast right?
So they still decided to fight each other when there is literally a super ork army where the literal smallest of boyz are nob size bare minimum
Yeah
Sheesh
Its just shittly written
bcs its literally all resolved offscreen
all the orks get killed by the offico assasinorum via ????
somehow
Yeah and we're talking about orks here where the nobz are warbosses
Also all the other copies of the beast
get killed by Vindcare somehow????
the thing that tanked a fucking nova cannon to the face
Copies of the original that can keep up with a god damn primarch to the point that the Primarch had to resort to a desperate attack in order to take it down
I don't care how good of a shot you are
you aren't killing something that can tank a goddamn cannon that shoots out something hotter the sun
also they killed 11 of them

war of the beast is just terribly written
You have to have one hell of a special bullet to even takedown something that can go toe-to-toe and can probably win against a primarch
The Custodes vs Harlequins scene at least makes sense in terms of how many die on each side
Tbh an Ork, however big it is, tanking a nova cannon is very silly to begin with
oh absolutely
but thats another issue entierly lol
the beast is presented by a force of nature
till it isn't
You can you know say that it's practically the mega armor that he was wearing but even then i don't think they can even make an armor strong enough to survive nova cannon unless they are krork
Tbh even then
Eldar wraith constructs and necron stuff on the ground
can't survive a damn nova cannon lol
so even krork power armor
prolly can't survive
Bare minimum, if they survived they will be too hurt and damaged to even recover
like its absurd to tank a ships nova cannon to the face
I'm a tyranid stan and even I thought that was weird. my explanation is that the Custodes were fighting selflessly to keep the lord solar alive, and were therefore killed.
if they weren't trying to also keep a small pathetic mortal human alive, they would have taken their time and fought more defensively and cautiously
yeah exactly.
real bodyguard hours.
They were running in to protect him
so it makes sense
it was a desperate defense
anyways I think I'd rather drink crushed up glass and rubbing alcohol
then read war of the beast again
still, that the norn emissary can kick hard enough to separate a custodes head clean from its body and send it flying off a cliff
is uhhh
🤷♀️
I guess it is a 30ft tall monster
but still.
they're custodes.
Yeah custodes armor is very very special
bit taller
bit taller yeah. most estimates i've seen put it at 12m tall or so
so almost 40ft
for an organism rippling with sinew and muscle, that is massive
it's probably faster and stronger pound-for-pound than most walker units of that size
everyones faction is beholden to what the writers want
if you're guys are gona die in the little lore blurb
they're gona die
true, true.
The thing is with tyranids showmanship of ridiculous strength is not so odd because their structure is designed to be perfect so their musculature must be ridiculous
Honestly I just hate war of the beast
bcs its just badly written lol
like even more so then the usual bad black library book
yeah it stands to reason that a tyranid organism of that size is incredibly powerful. it's not as heavily armored as a mech unit from the smaller races, but it's gotta be much stronger and more agile, as we saw when it checks notes leapt into the air to take down a gunship with its scything talons.

The hive mind sure knows what they're doing huh
I'm a fan of the "nothing that large should be that graceful" trope so I thought that was cool.
yeeeee
it like shoves its way into an elevator shaft
lol
But it's one of the few books that shows how dangerous orks are even though it can be written better
the hive mind is getting more impressive over time, the recentish books about the devastation of baal also had excerpts that made the hive mind much more substantial than just "the collective psychic network gestalt consciousness of the tyranids"
but it just feels shittly written
it's a godlike presence and peerless intelligence in the warp
like it completely falls apart at the middle and the end
the hive mind is so powerful that it casts a wide area of quietude in the warp around itself
is this Norn Emissary stuff from the new Leviathan novel
If i see an ork straight up take a shot from a cannon designed to be mounted on a ship, i would just ask the commissar to shoot me in the head
no it's just a lore blurb that GW themselves posted, not black library stuff.
AFAIK.
its in the core rulebook
right, that.
ah I see, haven't really dived in the core book yet
I've still got the Arks of Omen books to finish
Speaking of this trope, you can have something very big very fast as long as you can execute it i mean look at striker eureka from the first pacific rim movie
It's pretty fast but it still feels heavy
pacific rim is the golden standard for movies with Big Things in them
you are absolutely correct
what about the second one
true
there was no sequel.
You talk like that again and i will feed you to the next tyranid horde
Is there a real life equivalent to this
I know jezzails exist I'm just referring to the use of a shield setup like that and what crane gunners in Cathay use
It's cool
Pavise but used with gun ?
Probably yeah
Tanegashima (種子島), most often called in Japanese and sometimes in English hinawajū (火縄銃, "matchlock gun"), was a type of matchlock-configured arquebus firearm introduced to Japan through the Portuguese Empire in 1543. Tanegashima were used by the samurai class and their ashigaru "foot soldiers", and within a few years the introduction of the tan...
Parently
Ok thanks it's the pavise
They have a crossbow but using a musket is definitely used too
Ye I would hope ppl realized they could shoot a gun on that
It's mostly that Pavise were kinda useless against guns
Same reason that when guns started to become more common armoured knight started to become less common
Yeah, I like how it's renaissance still in Warhammer fantasy so you still have armor
I like armor a lot but it's so rare sometimes (depending on setting)
Well armour still existed for specialized troops, like the Dragoon's cuirasse
True true
I just wanna see more shields for sci Fi stuff like not too big but not small, and just weird shit like sci Fi warplock jezzail
there's the radium one
Suppression Shield, Assault Shield, Brute Shield (Ogryn)
Could even see Mag inverter Shield
If we get an Admech Archetype
Yes
Y'all I'm back w a weird question
Has there ever, in the barest sense, been a reference to Owlbears in 40k?
No
it's weird how centralized owlbears have become, i would say
like they kinda broke out
I'm kitbashing a chaos spawn and my lore fluff is my Thousand sons and a small band of emps children they're buddy-buddy with (Excuse to paint my emps with TS colour scheme) performed a ritual on an owlbear to turn it into a chaos spawn and I need a planet they could hypothetically have something like that exist on
well i mean, do what 40k and every other fictional universe does
Otherwise my chaos spawn proxy is non canon and that would be a goddamn travesty
catachan falcowolf. there
Chaos Spawn can have any shape you want
Just do what you want, you can say it comes from this planet and it'll work, this is a universe where an orangutan can build technology out of instinct
Yeah ik lol I'm just using an owlbear mini as a base and wanted a lore safe way to justify it
Okay so pro tip to remember
40k is a setting that is literally built upon lore excuses
"Where the fuck did you get all these Primaris marines???"
"I uhhh hid them under mars?"
"And we just learn of this now?"
"Yeah."
Basically just have something ready to explain why or what is happening and you are literally set.
"sir, the orks have destroyed the fortress"
"how!?"
"Here's the video sir of what happened"
sees ork vehicles combining into a giant gargant megazord
Literally.
Also titans are these "god machines"
but some fucking ork with a bike busts through a visor of one and kills the entire crew before overloading its reactor.
So hey, anything can happen

You can be quite ridiculous in this universe because a literal orangutan can build technology out of instinct
So an owl bear hybrid doesn't seem outrageous
Dead ass, I want an Ork Power ranger squad that combine their trusty vehicles together to make a gargant
YOOOO
I can just imagine a mek boy going to town if they recover dead cybertronian corpes
What would come out of it I wonder
Well, there exist city sized cybertronians.
titans, they are pretty fucking cool
But orks finding ways to weaponize these things even more is going to be a nightmare on the imperium's part
Would the o r k s still let them transform or would they just be walkers or vehicle locked?
it's just way too handy to you know let go of their ability to transform, on robot mode their firepower is amazing, and in vehicle mode they can get around, orks would definitely allow them to transform
They could do that headmasters thing, so an ork in armour becomes the head of the transformer.
yeah that could work
Then again, I can't imagine an ork being happy about transforming into a piece of dakka.
orks could have just very tiny Transformers that can transform into creatures and a weapon as an alternate mode, for how they think let's just say that squig brains are quite useful for the procedure
Like Soundwave's cassettes.
Yeah you can have a squig tansformer turn into a Thunder hammer
Dnd movie must have helped
The druid owlbear scene was pretty much in every single trailer
yeah like, i remember it being like one of many generic enemies and now it feels like it's a Canon Dungeons And Dragons Monster if you know what i mean
a bit like a beholder or something
it's like mixing mayo and sriracha
at first it's just testing things out then you start asking why both ingredients even exist on their own
People use lemon juice instead of vinegar lol?
Yeah and it suck
Is this a good equivalent for a bolter round
not really fat enough but good enough imo
Bolter is 0.5
I mean that's the cartridge that makes it phat
Well in the Bolter case there isn't really any cartridge
It’s a micro rocket
Isn’t it 0.75
As its a gyrojet
Right
Had the discussion yesterday and it confused me
0.75 for every normal Bolt. And Heavy is 0.9
Chunky gun
Jdj is .95 I think
I just learned about 15th-16th century wall guns and they're cool for just being obscenely big
Old time gun when it still were ironwrought had arquebuse that were the equivalent of 2.0 and hip fired
Thats a .950 right
It is, so yeah thats the size of a bolter round
Ive heard people say bolters are .65, .75, and .95. That round is the largest option of that, so yes that is the right size, at least the bullet is.
In HH. In 40k its standardised to 0.75 for most zbolter and 0.9 for Heavy Bolter.
With some higher calibre for the mounted ones (Tanks and titans and stuff)
So that round is actually thicker than a heavy bolt.
I'm not able to say the size of the calibre like that
The caliber is yes
Caliber is just an inch measurement of the diameter of the bullet
.50 cal is half an inch
Still I have no idea what an inch look like. Much less in comparison to a human adult hand
An inch is roughly the length of the average second segment of the index finger
i know what 6 inches looks like
Its half as much as you think it is 0-0
I played it
Got all the achievements
Game was fun but then turned into a fucking slog
I still don't get why there isn't an automap
Literally Doom 2 had a really good automap
I don't see why a game made in 2023 doesn't have one
I brought that up in a meme
everyone got mad at me in the comments
"spoken like someone who never played doom"
"so basically just classic doom?"
idgaf if its classic doom asshole
the level design is dogshit
give me a map

CLASSIC DOOM HAS A FUCKING AUTOMAP
THE FUCK ARE THEY ON ABOUT
IT WAS SHIT
BUT IT STILL HAD ONE
I GOT NO IDEA
Like it wasn't great
but it worked lol
so anyone saying doom 1 didn't have an automap is a fucking dumbass lol
I like how everyone who replied to the no map thing is like
there was a map
Like
as shit as the map in Doom 1 was
it was there
That doesn't make it intresting game design lol
you know what makes interesting game design?
Ultrakill is a boomer shooter
spamming the same 3 bosses
it has no bullet sponges
it also has the best FPS bosses I've ever fought against
excluding Raid bosses in Destiny(they don't count)
but bullet sponges are boring
And things in boltgun were spongier then in a lot of Doom Hacks
so I don't think that even applies lol
Gameplay is solid though
aside from the boss fights
They could have done so much more for the bosses
the bosses sucked
I first timed GUO
Its just not fun after the first hour tbh
I got all i could out of 8 hours, i dont think im really gonna reinstall it ever again.
also the Lord of Change is the doom 2 archvile on crack
which instantly makes it go to F tier in game design

No one likes the archvile even in doom hacks for a reason
its just a shit enemy
to fight against
Its repetitive and tedious ye
and boltgun turned it into a boss with a fuckoff huge HP bar
so the joke about just oneshotting the archvile doesn't work
bcs you can't oneshot the lord of change lol
it also makes it slow as shit
you literally have
to hide behind cover
constantly
bcs its the goddamn archvile on crack lol
do the game designers like the Doom 2 archvile???
Because the original creator fucking hates it
they just looked at DOOM instead of copying any enemy behaviors from it
The community hates it
The Doom 2 archvile is "iconic" in a bad way
in the sense that its going to ruin your day instantly lol
Its why its so goddamn rare in doom hacks
NO ONE WANTS TO BALANCE AROUND IT
It turns every fight its part of
into hunt down archvile and kill it
or else you're gona get oneshot
alright I'm done with my archvile rant
but the Lord of Change being archvile 2 40k boogaloo
is fucking dumb
its bad game design
but of course
you get the defense of:
"ITS JUST LIKE OLD DOOM"
I played old doom
shut up about it

bruh
the people who designed old doom don't like it
there's a reason it never showed up after doom 2
till Doom 3 which was a horror game lol
the "its just like old boomer shooters" excuse applies to basically anything the devs do thats bad though is the issue
- Characters
- Map
- Enemies
- Abilities
etc etc
But holy fuck lol WHY
They nerfed it in the latest patch
It’s more tolerable now
Regarding the lord of change
too little too late i guess
Still the worst enemy in the game
Hit scan enemies shouldn’t exist in a boomer shooter environment
And if they do
They have to have delayed attacks
You can’t just have kaboom your dead
And get one shot by the lord of change on exterminatus
And before you say the game shouldn’t be balanced at that difficulty
Ultra violence is balanced in old dooms
So that’s bullshit lol
Anyways I beat the game and 100%’d it on exterminatus
Pretty enjoyable
Except for the bosses
And even more balanced in the modern ones
Bolt gun was enjoyable but lacked novelty except "it's in 40k"
Yeah but people use the old boomer shooter argument
Which is daft
Bcs boltgun clearly isn’t balanced at exterminatus
Imo the novelty was the melee system
Even if it uh
Kinda sucked
Yeah
Would have liked if they leaned more in the ap/tabletop like upgrade system
Instead of making it secrets
"secrets"
watching the armchair historians video on ww2 from japanese perspective, theres alot of imperium parralels lmao
oh jeez
Me when the evil government is like the evil fictional government

LMAO
LAMO
i mean
I had to take it
I’m krilling myself
so painful
Ye i liked the weapons
It’s not like doom eternal where I never touch half the alternate modes lol
lmAO i just meant about how the imperium used the same methods Japan used to make citizens suppoert the alt right military
Ye
What I didn't like was the frogs
they even formed a cult which i never knew
plague taods, plsssssss i want them back
cant wait for H-Boltgun

they are like literally exactly nurgle should have ;~;
Okay beyond being a porn mod the fuck is the appeal of H-Doom
Is it even a good mod lol

its well animated i guess?
Incredible
Lol
Anyways please make the lord of changes attack like
A fireball
I don’t want to fight an archvile with a huge Hp bar
ive ben wathcing more real life history for my dnd worlds geo politics because im psychotic and should have access to this much lore writing potential
frfr
i feel like the country my players are currently in are missing something, so im trying to get inspiration
Id say look at some warhammer fantasy empire states for inspiration
every small bit helps
they are not britian, and their king accidentally fucking died. and now i realize how much i accidentally stole form 40k
lmao
my players wanted the world to be set more technologically advance so i moved up to around 1850s
Ah
i got bullied into adding trains lmao
i love medieval politics so im trying to keep that access
look at some stuff like Dishonored for inspo, the Empire of the Isles has some great stuff
(This is a joke)
im happy with what i did with pirates
this is a sequal setting to one that took place around like
1820ish and long story short colonization
also im obsessed with changing species lore and making my own wild animals
If there’s magic
theres magic
ive been thinking about it
im trying to keep magic releveant
by inlcuding careers and stuff that would just, be better with magic rather then tech
like instead of uisng the print press theres just wizards that use spells that control ink
and magic makes trading easier
Neat
and guns are exensive :<
i wanan include steam punk stuff but i m thinking might just be dwarves only thing
also there are super hightech ruins across the world but imma ignore that atm
Lol
also im inspired alot form endless legends
I do think it’s fun how some people who use black powder in the league universe who are weak mages
Use magic to reload their guns
god i fucking love endless legends
THATS SO COOL OMG
They carve tiny runes into their guns to react to magic
Which have them spit out whatever they use to store ammo
So they can put in a fresh magazine/clip
i was thinking of bullets with enchantmetns i didnt even think of guns them selces with magic or magi cbeing used on guns
Is this still a gif?
No
One moment
the whole feed mechanism is enchanted so it spits it out
at the users command
and then they can reload it with magic
also i need to introduce more industrialization
thastsa balelr af
my last camapign took place in a small state that banned all modernization because they wanted to keep their traditions
neat
even if it was killing the country
but magic and tech can work together great with a bigger focus on magic or tech
I.E noxian guns still use blackpowder because its cheap but since they're good at enchanting things they just enchant the whole damn gun instead
and then nations like Ionia have guns that are only usable by a mage
due to the nature of the ammo and how its been designed
The gun just doesn't work without magic
the bullets don't use black powder
but I think Riots take on industrilization and how nations react to it is very intresting
as different parts of the world adapt the technology to suit their own needs
isnt there a kingdom in league that just says "no magic"?
how do they make up for the fact they are shooting themselves in the foot militarily?
is like in age of wonders 3?
where the humans go "oh you have magic? we have tanks the size of cities"
writing TIME
i realized im missing the industrialzation of the country i forgot that was a thing lmao
Their bordars are small, they have allies around them who use magic and every single piece of equipment they have is infused with material that physically hurts mages to be around lol
This includes city walls, buildings, swords, shields
nice
Now granted there's a secret they don't tell everyone about said material
it doesn't negate magic
it absorbs it
so eventually those things become literal bombs of magic
to be used offensively
so an enemy mage could turn their soldiers into bombs if they go full blast
ah
And they have other anti magic things
such as golems that react to it
that then use said magic to uh kill you
should i involve pollution?
Depends from place to place imo
fair
if the nation is concerned with such things, blah blah blah
maybe one nation could be focused on squeezing out every last drop of industrial output they can from the land
maybe another could loath doing so do to tradition or religious signifigance
ect.
if its based on the Victorian era they would ruin the land
as in black skies, endless smog, polluted rivers
also don't shy away from child labor
oh, i didnt finish it
bcs can't have victorian era england without that
oof
oh wait I just realized Riots gona have to kill a kid in Arcane Season 2

Its time for Ekko's character development
im so proud of Lefran its a country im like half way done writing
i took a break form it but
👍
its a cold forest beach its wonderful
its obsessed wtih crystals that grwo on the beach
AC Syndicate showed that fairly well afaik
no i mean the foreman just buying orphans to go work in his steel mill
aAAAAA i love writing
They have industry writers who do it for a living. You’re doing it as a hobby don’t hold yourself up to the same standards
It's ok just look at Seraphine
Arcanum seems like something you should look at btw
It's a really great setting contrasting tech and magic on a more "logical" way
She doesn’t exist till they finish retconning her story
I refuse to aknowledge her lol
im trying to think of a joke for a video
here's my best shot
when a hammerfall bunker of the salamanders drops on the battlefield: https://youtu.be/13pgxOCHKh0
The full song is here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTYCRRix-eY
I stole this from the under watched and now canceled web series "Net_Work" by Black20. You can see the full episode here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhU_u4rq1Tg&list=PLD3E395396330C0CF&index=31
So was Talos lying to himself that his mother was the one who got shot dead by an Enforcer when the Night Lords were parading on Nostramo's surface? Xarl even pointed it out that it wasn't just a random old lady.
i will answer this question if you rate my joke out of 10
-10. It was stretch at first because I didn't know hammerfall bunkers were a thing
Does tzeentchian fuckery to change previous response
Could an ogryn beat the stuffing out of one of those sword tyranids?
Like the one from space marine trailer
Or is this another one of those “they have the capabilities but their opponent wouldn’t give them the chance” type deal like with space marines
Tyranid Warriors are pretty smart
it entirely depends on how the ogryn fights it
so its a case of "either can win with the right strategy"
oh hey dilara perfect
Can I ask you something
so i'm going to make a squig godzilla, warlord Titan size, do you think it's having a prometheum breath that can be lit up with an special organ on the roof of its mouth can work as a breath weapon
Basically it can spit out organic promethium and then the organ on its mouth roof will release sparks to ignite it when it's coming out
More or less works i think yeah, if a fucking squig can literally transform into a organic petrol pump this isnt that out of the question either
So the back story is a runt herd wanted to have a very special squig and ask the rest of the ork boys for help, with the help of one of my my characters which is a painboy, they decided to biologically engineer a gigantic squig that that breaths organic promethium that can be ignited by a special organ on top of the squigs mouth
Yep it works
like i said squigs can basically become anything
and squiggoths exist
so its not that out of the question
I got the idea of the breath weapon by combining the traits of a Hideous Zippleback and Monstrous Nightmare from how to train your dragon
so will this be 40k scale or Titanicus scale
the squig would be around warlord Titan size
If you're talking about that
I didn't wanna go over the top with imperator size
meant as in what will be the scale, normal tabletop 40k or the smaller Adeptus Titanicus game scale
I'm not familiar with those measurements
I am not planning to make a model just you know write it
Yeah I am just planning to have it around warlord size
sounds cool
Yeah warlord is good enough going any bigger and this thing might be way too ridiculous
that too is massive by all means 😄
A giant biologically engineered squig that can breathe liquid promethium that is ignited with a special organ located on the roof of its mouth is already ridiculous, I will just spare The Imperials by making it the size of a warlord
quite so
if you rip apart a tyranid i assume it would like, melt you? is that not accurate
