lol
i go mostly from the fact the shadow in the warp literally cuts you off from it
but i mean, they are psykers too, so technically the hive mind is also the strongest psyker in existence
dead space?!?? isaac!???!?
yeah it's more like the hive mind is so powerful that it has a stranglehold on the warp wherever it exists and can therefore cut off other psyker's access to it, like a signal jammer broadcasting impenetrable noise on all wavelengths
ye, the deathwatch ttrpg explains it as being the constant communication between the hive mind and it's bodies
that excerpt from darkness in blood suggests that the hive mind even suppresses the existence of daemons inside the area of the immaterium that it oppresses, elbowing the other forces of the warp out of the way
FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER
basically like trying to make a phonecall in a 1x1 meters room with another 500 persons screaming inside
it literally cuts off the warp from the materium, and makes any warp stuff in the materium suffer
"godlike" because it manages to enforce its will onto the immaterium in the same way that the chaos gods do
So a funny thing about that, I had some spoilers from the new Leviathan novel from my friend and theres a good Tyranid memery scene in it
Hold on
||There's one very interesting scene which opens with a Cogitator, which is revealed to be powered via a preserved, living human head, is contacted by the Hive Mind. The Hive Mind acknowledges the Cogitator's organic brain is scared, alone, and in pain, and via psychic communication, convinces it to shut down a defensive shield keeping the Tyranid swarms at bay from one of the last standing Hives, in order to bring about its own destruction.||
godlike imo is simply because of it's sheer size and might, but works both ways
huh, neat
absolute trolling
amazing
Want some more spoilers?
by all means
Its not much but i wouldnt mind sharing 1 sec
logic plague for biological entities basically
even the mindless ravenous swarm has more compassion than the imperium
compassion might be a stretch
also wait... now that i think about it if the shadow in the warp as it's said cuts off the materium from the warp, where would a soul killed by the nids go?
I personally like a hive mind that is not just a psychic area network for an emergent tyranid supra-intelligence but also a malevolent entity in its own right, but that's probably a matter of taste. i can imagine a lot of other people would find a such a hive mind to be less compelling
||Neurogaunts are depicted as driving people around them insane, spreading nightmares generated by a Neurotyrant across the entire world. People visualise them differently, but they all seem to drive them to commit acts helpful to the Tyranid invasion - carrying out acts of murder and sabotage which they, for whatever reason, think will stop the perpetual vision of bugs which assail them.
The Imperium, even the Space Marines, constantly assume the Tyranids are just mindless monsters incapable of actual thought. Near the end of the book, one of the surviving protagonists outright states that the Hive Mind has manipulated them at every step of the way, that every decision they've made has been the result of the Tyranids provoking them into making the wrong choice.||
||Fleshborers really justify having St5 now, the Space Marines have to pause to crush and dislodge fired Borer Beetles because they know the creatures are fully capable of gnawing through their armour.
||The book ends with the surviving Space Marines sabotaging a Hive's geothermal reactors in such a way that it blows up the entire planet, consuming both the Tyranid ground swarms and the tendril of Leviathan in orbit. The escape via a stolen shuttle, but outright acknowledge that this is exactly what the Hive Mind wanted - they've destroyed a vital fortress world, leaving a huge gap in the Imperium's defences through which other tendrils can advance towards Sol. Losing the tendril means nothing to the Hive Mind, but losing the planet is a serious blow to the Imperium, and blowing it up was ultimately just a futile act of defiance since the Tyranids had already conquered it by that point
About the only thing the Marines can claim they accomplished was discovering that a pair of captured Neurocytes - the little synaptic resonator-parasites which control Neurogaunts - might theoretically be meddled with in such a way as to disrupt or damage the Hive Mind. But the Apothecary who formulates this theory is never able to get it to work, and by the time they flee the planet, the captured Neurocytes are already starting to sicken and die without their hosts.||
thing is, the hive mind is the nids
like, the hive mind is a separate entity from the singular synapse creatures
I donβt think it cuts it off in that way
Alright i think thats most of the spoilers my friend shared with me
Hive mind really out here taking books from the Lord of change
i mean if it can keep stuff in the warp gellar field style it should
hell yeah tyranids keep winning
I was VERY surprised by the Tyranid W
especially since the book has marines all over the front lmao
see I think all of this is super dope
super super dope
Oh yeah in writing just like the orks they are basically mostly a faction power level demonstration tool
The neurogaunt one is also super hilarious
same with the fleshborer ammo actually bothering marines now
basedborer

we need a
but a nid

This is why I'm happy with belisarius cawl not following tradition because they really need to upgrade those armor man the Galaxy is changing and if they don't plan on innovating stuff they will fucking die
Close enough
btw, just found once again a funny tyranid, Doom of Malan'tai, a Zoanthrope that powers up by eating psychic stuff and souls, it ate a craftworld population and it's infinity circuit
The fact that they make the hive mind a rival to Tzeentch in calculating prowess is so cool to me. I love this for the Tyranids. Such a scary faction with an intelligence like that at the helm
also get a zoanthrope with legs
that's supposed to be this?
older edition models are something else huh
noooo
kill all space marines
looks like the dude han solo shot first
I wonder what would happen if the hive mind and a chaos god were to directly interact in the warp
I wonder if that's even possible
maybe the hive mind suppresses the warp in such a way that chaos entities can't directly interface with it, like a blank inside realspace
ye, that's kind of what it does
well
not fully
humanity and chaos could so easily defeat nids if they worked together for a bit. just imagine if the imperium let fringe worlds about to be devoured to worship chaos
they actually do that
Rhephanon was the name i think
Planet rebels, long war
General notices Hivefleet approaching and hes like
"Lmao let them eat the planet, we'll exterminatus it as the tyranids fully land"

nah im saying that fighting demons is a huge waste of resources for nids
no edible biomatter
yeah nids definitely don't want to fight daemons, or necrons.
imagine nurgle testing out his diseases on nids
devastation of baal proved that daemons are a certified Bad Time(TM) for tyranid plans.
chaos is like "nobody bullies the imperium but me!"
They were at least able to develop a hive fleet designed to fight demons, Necrons they just completely avoid
quite literally what Ka'Bhanda said lol. he invaded the system with a giant army of daemons, killed a fuckhuge number of Tyranids, piled up their skulls on the moon of Baal Prime in the shape of his symbol as if to say "don't you fuckers forget what I did for you. PS I'm coming for your neck. peace"
Yeah necrons are the same deal where its mostly because its a waste of resources
and then fucked off again
speaking of khorne demons, is scarbrand just wandering around all over the place
He has his own army but more or less yes
so there was way less lore on tyranids back when I was first into 40k but one thing I vividly remember from my tyranid codex was how they seemed to intuitively avoid tomb worlds. do we have any further information on that? any inadvertent clashes between necrons and tyranids since then?
hes like every greater daemon where he just goes wherever to spill blood for his dad
There has been
but like i said they avoid em because its a waste of resources
Is it really an army or are they just following him cause he get into fights often
its khorne so ill say Yes
Karanak could work as a LL for TT
that's just how daemonic warbands and ork waaaghs work. some head honcho promises to find them all the Good Fights and the other daemons/orks are like "alright fine we'll follow you for now. BUT THE FIGHTING BETTER BE GOOD" and they keep following until the fight is no longer Good.
do Orks enjoy fighting Tyranids?
Think so
It's like a match made in heaven
did that have an instance of orks and humans fighting tyranids side by side? or was that just orks fighting 'nids by themselves
Octarius was just Orks iirc
Yeah it was mostly orks/nids
it was even fought on a microscopic level
with ork spores fighting tyranid spores

general taktikus from the enemy of my enemy is a good example he made the temporary alliance with the imperium until he backstabbed them
taktikus lmfao
Yep lmao
@native radish look at this
I thought "k*ll yourself" was way too mean
him ordering you to jump into an acidic pool is much funnier

XD
When you think about it, the big brain bug from alien terrors make sense! And not because my mind feels like it being gnawed by a trillion ants.
what the psyker sees when trying to stop the hivemind
Not even a joke

big Nidthinking
Remember! Your food cannot shoot you if you scramble their brains sunny side up.
In 694999.M41, infamous Ork Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka arriv[...]
wtf kinda date is this
i like to think of ork spores as wielding very small choppa's
The Imperial dating system is like that
After hearing about the Tyranids and Orks that clash there in an ever-escalating spiral of violence, The World Eaters warband known as the Skullhunt of Vodha Bloodprice invades the Octarius System. The World Eaters are not disappointed β within the space of a single year, over eight thousand skulls are offered to the Blood God, the smallest of which is the size of a boulder. Vodha ascends to daemonhood after slaying a Hierophant bio-titan with the greataxe of the fallen Ork Warboss Magza da Kollossus.[6]
Da Maw
After his ascension, Bloodprice organized an even greather warband from not only the Skullhunt but also the Bloodblessed, Bloody Dawn, Gorefists, and Harvest alongside hordes of Cultists, Beastmen, Chaos Knights, and Dark Mechanicum. He moved on to an Ork world dubbed "Da Maw" where horde after horde of Tyranids threw themselves into battle with Greenskins on a colossal scale. To Bloodprice, this war-strewn land was a paradise and blessing of Khorne. He used his flagship Goredrenched to lead his armada into the planet's orbit, smashing past Greenskin and Tyranid ships and aiming to land on the world to engage in total slaughter.[10c]
now this
is a good premise for a videogame
And they all fought and died and it was great.
Everyone involved had a lot of fun.
You can basically see the Yelp reviews from Orks and World Eaters
"Five stars, fantastic bloodbath, was fightng nonstop for two weeks - Gorgosh the Skull-Cracker"
wait i just remembered isn't this what the hive mind does after invading a world with genestealer cultists
Probbly
I want to see that Wh40k has an app called MAIM where you can review ongoing conflicts.
Exactly that ye
"Good food, great service. Restaurant was invaded by hooligans halfway through. 8/10" - hive_mind_69
Would love so see an Assassin Creed where you play as that GSC Assassin, and in the end you get the option on jumping in the acid bath or not
Review Edited: The hooligans were a bit tough on the tooth but ultimately tasted like chicken.
no but seriously imagine a DOOM Eternal-esque videogame where you instead play as a daemon invading that battlefield, fighting both orks and tyranids as you collect SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE in ever-increasing size
would be metal AF
Well we all know that gaming potential in Warhammers is pretty much endless
Double King but instead of crowns you go after bigger and bigger monsters
yes!
You can even make stardew valley when you're an agrarian sector overseer and must rip the land asunder to maximize one cereal production.
Your character only communicates in action poses, grunts, and occassionally revving his chainaxe
While true, warhammer also has the problem of being attached to GW
Same for LotR
Great setting with quite a profound setting, but the owner are difficult (Lol) and the Ip expensive
That's just Factorio
Sounds great, but I would rather play as a Khorne's champion than a daemon
Darktide's core is great
And no other company even attempt those type of gameplay
Meanwhile, the billions of Orks of Badsquig and thousands of Squigosaurs under Gragnatz Stompkrumpa enthusiastically engaged the Tyranids. Mobilizing every Ork upon its surface and declaring "Da Time of da Big-Kill", Stompkrumpa lost an arm, leg, and an eye in a failed attack to tame a captured Carnifex but merely viewed this as a setback.
also incredible stuff
We already have malum caedo for a feral shaped space marine creature i think getting a demon would be a different experience
works for me too
Talking about games.. Revisiting For Honor makes me wonder about a Warhammer game with the same mechanics
The in game you can also be an ork, we don't have a lot of games where you play ork, the best one that came out of that category would be Shootas, blood, and teef
Also random funny Starcraft lore
hmm, I guess that's a fair reaction
yeah you can make a lot of fun videogames in 40k with just the xenos races or some chaos factions
no need for the imperium
Start as a lowly cultist (Prologue) then become a CSM who then can pledge to either Undivided or any of the Chaos Gods π΅
start as a ork boy and you slowly become as a war boss
I would fucking adore a horde shooter where you play orks fighting tyranids or something like that.
next tide game will be centered around an ork kill team facing off nids
Greentide
You can even make it work in lore in AoS
That isnt confirmed but the devs at least said they got interest
but i'd like to play as imperial facing off orks too
Ye, Orks are prob gonna be the next 40k game from FS
i just want orks either as enemies or as playable characters
Orks against Tyr would be baller
playing orks would be just as cool as playing ogryns so I would drop darktide for a long time if greentide ever became a real thing
I remember reading an article which was saying that the StarCraft had been intended as a Warhammer game
Is it true? π
if they did make greentide I will wait a bit to play because the last time I believed in fat shark i kinda just lost hope
honestly a 40k game with xenos as the main characters would be an actual flagship title
orks are also a very safe bet from a business perspective
Warcaft was iirc
or twisted metal
They most likely would make the Ork game after Darktide is quite polished (And people forget it's launch)
Twisted metal works
I tried the alpha, it's alright. The charm does wear thin in a couple games already though, but I recon it'll have more to it closer to launch
It's more like twisted metal, me and @native radish played it
Can we call it a racing game if it has more fighting in it rather than racing?
You go and pew pew at others and then get murdered by the Leman Russ spam
I can easily see myself sinking hundreds of hours into that baby
twisted metal getting a tv series was funny as fuck as a news for me btw
same
@fathom leaf you played it too no ?
Lel.
Spamming any one class doesn't really work tbh
Leman Russes are HARD cancelled by defftrikes
i just know the goff bike was op as fuck
Had to switch to Kustom boosta Blasta because every time I try to play tank I don't get that much back up and I get my ass gets blown open
Yeah but people have to run the trikes
two claw attacks and everything dies
yes, it was supposed to be an assassin but since it can take a hit it's more like a brawler
The damage is fine I just want the health to go lower
Anyway there's on 40k game that could probably take off
So is it closer to Crossout or World of Tanks ?
Yeah
Also exeggarated
More Crossout
neither
But without the building
had fair chance of winning with my Grot Tank
but more crossout
The game balance was surprisingly great
I meant for the gameplay
Not so much the building
i mean, if you only count it as "you got a car and you shoot with the car" then it's similar to both
The only mode we got to play was a fun mix of racing and capture the point
yes, while the smaller ones have a boost, the bigger vehicles have self repairs
You capture the point, have 3 minutes of tug of war between teams
I require imperial guard story game
and then race to a new point after
that's the first game mode
I will kill for Imperial Guard story game
there will be more in the future
i literally imagine it as a whole campaign but with the battlefield1 first mission mechanic of swapping soldiers every time you die
We need a Titan fighting game where there are ground troops as AI and stuff
i require mil-sim style except it's 40k and asymmetrical like rising storm
with the guard against tau
Think the Titan to soldier ratio/gap is a tad to big
Knights drop from big floating castles
What is the most recant book in the warhammer timeline
Goodblight no ?
Not leviathan?
No clue, timeline isn't particularly clearly stated
I suppose then
I though leviathan was gonna be released when the box's stat was ended or something
The hardcover is out
I got one but haven't read it yet
Need to finish godblight
leviathan is the most recent timeline book
after godblight you have arks of omen, the lion son of the forest, and leviathan
not counting all the guard books inbetween
The Lion book was pretty entertaining
better than the first dark imperium book imo
plague wars was decent, godblight was good
despite all the necessary mary sueing
^
I'm a guy Haley fan so I love dark imperium books
I'm on godblight
A lot of The Lion: Son of the Forest was just dedicated to showing that he's not stupid and can rethink his positions in light of new information, since the Horus Heresy novels required everyone to be a bit dumb in order to get to that sweet canon final showdown
have you read titandeath?
No my next book is leviathan or kingmaker
Or king of spoils
Kingmaker is great, robert rath is def top 3 black library author rn
which is crazy considering he's so new
First warhammer book I read
Suggesting Kingmaker hard
you can literally finish it in like 3 days
just 400 pages of awesome memery and knights π
I respect him a lot for also speaking on his main twitter account about how stupid imperium apologists are
Imperium Apologists? You mean being based and seeking the bag?
In the month of May I read 6-7 warhammer books
my brain was fried
Mood.
Guy Haley is the best
Oo
he is certaintly one of the black library authors of all time
Why does everyone hate him
Hes so good at writing guilliman
From a non biased standpoint he is a highly average author who can write fantastic combat scenes but struggles at making his own plots and narratives when he is not being directly fed things by GW
He thrives when he has a big guiding hand
I think the parts where the combat stops and they are all talking is what he's best at
The biggest reason is also that he might be Dan Abnett's evil clone from another universe.
But lets not get into multiverses for now

that spider man's job
Very sus
every single warhammer author is bald and wears glasses
and has a beard
well yea theyre british
fr fr
I think he writes gulliman very well but some of his non gulliman book dialogues are pretty ass
British is the worst disease you can get
Hey there's Sarah tbf
I love Fabian and chilka
I know ppl hated the first few dawn of fire books, idk if they got any better
Lmfao

Worse
We had a guy here uh
who went into read Wolftime
he came out as an Iraq war vet after 2 days of reading
π
I have no idea how nick kyme still has a job at GW
Same
That was me lol
like holy shit
blue bloods is atrocious
LMAO
not even blue bloods
every one of his salamanders novel is bad
literally nobody likes them
HOW CAN YOU DO THIS
What about Phil Kelly?
@torpid narwhal The best thing Guy Haley has done so far is make Cato Sicarius an AWESOME character
Phil Kelly is literally Kyme but for Tau

When I was a youth I had nick kyme's cato sicarius that is a meme legend
I liked 1 2 and 4
Hes one of those BL authors where he grabs a faction and never lets them go while writing their material.
I still find it hilarious how people think Matt Ward wrote him
I like the ultra
Something bad in the setting? Blames Matt Ward
that explains the ork head shape
I changed my pfp
ah that explains it
Early 2000's BL is so funny, they gave anyone a job
I hate the Farsight enclaves so much
Oh fuck i doxxed myself for that meme
Best faction is the adeptas machanicas
Dw I've doxed myself to 3 people already
some guy in the warhammer discord posted his full GW order with address and card # and thought NOTHING of it until I pointed it out
I hope you got a nose exhale from my horrific error
I didn't even see
looks at them turn the prisoner's death sentence into something even worse
Hows those new books the Palace of terra or whatever w the inquisitor on the cover
I like warhammer detective shit
vaults of terra
Do you remember that one author who entirely ripped off war stories from IRL soldiers and plagiriased them in his own book
and got instantly fired when people found out
not GW lmao
Vaguely recall "1st book good rest meh"
LMFAO yea and theyve spent untold amounts of time and money to cover that up
Only the last one is bad
like im gonna spoil and say everyone dies
and nothing really comes out of it
its super rushed
I've heard the last one is atrocious
lmao

of course writers sometimes i swear to god man
Thankfully we have 40 Gaunt's ghosts books to read
also the main inquisitor slowly turns into a dark eldar
and at least half are great

I love how Dan Abnett tells GW what HE wants to write
thats one of the funny little stories
where they tried to tell him something and he went nuh uh this is mine you can world build around it now
Yeah Dan is an Old Guard, he can literally do whatever he wants
Dan is old guard and also a massive bread winner for them
also that
He's made them a bajillion dollars
I feel like the reason why it took 2 whole series before Bequin got her own novel is because the only time BL tells him no is if he says he wants to write about a woman
and he writes for marvel too now
ADB does too iirc
was also one of the founders of the Guardians of the Galaxy iirc
He wrote the backstory for critically acclaimed video game Darktide
I actually read some of Dan's marvel comics, they are suitably grimdark
Guy Haley would be great for writing a marvel movie since that's what the dark imperium trilogy is
my first was uhhh Sabertooth hunting Jubilee underneath the X-Mansion
and it was scary as fuck
Oh if I can say something about comics a bit off topic
Was the Calgar comic good
man all of this book talk really makes me want to look for a website where i can read warhammer books for free
I highly recommend the new superman cartoon, it's 2 episodes in and already my favorite DC animated series
Back in 2017 I pirated enough warhammer books for GW to send a DW kill team after me
DC animated being good to great while DC movies burn in some random alley
(Deathstroke is a twunk in this cartoon)
This is slade wilson!!!
Young Sepphiroth
Now draw him pregnant
Also Clark is like 6 foot 8 and Lois is a petite Filipina, its cute
Yea I saw Twitter being racist about her this morning
they are even planning to make an anime
the name is suicide squad isekai
My man looks like a kaiju next to her
My twitter is people spazzing about someone shipping a character with Celestine and people spazzing about female space marines
I hate how many contexts you can use this image in

remember when that one 40k book Avenging Son was coming out
and all the 40k racists came out of the woodwork
because it had a black ultramarine on the cover
π
"Slightly less white ultramarine causes controversy"
"Bro Arch isn't racist bro, he's just keeping the woke tourists out of the hobby"
should make a sticker of this
Warhammer Twitter gives racist twitter a run for its money on god
No kidding
Oh wait I have one last caveat about Deathstroke/Superman cartoon
He's voiced by Jerry from Rick and Morty. This is noticeable.
Isn't his power also different like superman's superpower is a lot different
My favourite was someone drawing those Female Space Warriors from Rogue Trader and I kid you not there being 40 comments literally repeating that "Akshually they were intended to be Sisters of Battle!!!!!"
Powers? He just beats the shit out of people
Me talking about dad after a few beers
Oh yeah this Superman doesn't have control on his super strength
Yeah it's baby superman. He's an intern lmao
I really wanna see him grow and try to learn that "wait I can shoot lasers out of my eyes!?"
OK but this disrupts the shaving lore
me watching my favorite homeless guy lose the weekly knife fight
Supershave fans hate this series
Superwhat
Superman shaves w laser eyes
OK time for the deep superman lore
It's some OG supes lore
Superman's hair is also invincible
That's funny
ohh yeah even his hair is strong enough to be a substitute for titanium
So the only way he can shave his face is with his own heat vision Reflected by a mirror
Superman really is the best superhero
he's jacked
he's American
he did horrible things for the Reagan administration in the 1980's (thank you frank miller)
he's American
he believes in Santa
Who's Frank Miller
Frank Miller, the GOAT
Ever watch 300?
A lot of people underestimate him my brother in Christ you throw him inside the sun he will be powered enough to fight a god
My favorite thing is that he gets fan mail at the fortress of solitude. Who is delivering it???
Did he make the comic that's based on?
Ya
oh cool
The fortress of solitude that's located in the middle of a freezing tundra?
Frank Miller is the guy who made:
Daredevil and Elektra actual characters
Some of the best batman shit ever
300
some of the worst batman shit ever
Yes, it's a publicly known address and superman gets mail and packages there
i'm surprised they even spare equipment to deliver something there
As far as anyone knows, he doesn't have a secret identity, so anything people need delivered to superman goes there
Frank was basically a great comic book writer that kinda well off after 9/11 and some other stuff in mid 2000's american history
Now hes like
a washed up rasputin-looking boomer
Its genuinely tragic
post 9/11 marvel comic books be like here Garth Ennis just start torturing people in your comics
ever read Crossed?
I read the whole range, still gives me nightmares a decade later
Lmao I remember people being upset when Penny Parker was depressed in the new movie
The gore was horrible but i kinda got tired of it
but disturbing
Penny Parker is just spidergirl Shinji
Remember the game store part of crossed with the female author
YEP
he really do be hating women
100%
its why im glad the Boys show is so good without him
like they went COMPLETELY fanfic with the plot
and its so good
The Boys comics are the worst thing ever made
100%
Garth Ennis HATES women and LOVES the "N" word
Oh man so if you like the boys, I have a classic comic book for you.
Stardust the Super Wizard
It's from the 70s I think? The whole premise is Stardust is a space wizard with omnipotence, and he's a narcissistic sociopath.
I remember when I was a kid I used to read marvel knkights comics a lot so my dad bought me a copy of the boys comic and I learned so many fun new words that got me smacked by my parents
Basically he'll hear the villains plotting a mass casualty event, and say "oh, that's terrible", then do nothing, and after the villain kills 2,000 people he shows up, scolds them, and then humiliates them in increasingly brutal and absurd ways before being hailed as a hero
Invincible kinda slaps
Invincible is great
both the comic and the show
because its written by an author who LOVES superheroes
Ennis is completely opposite
I have had such star wars fatigue and marvel fatigue
same
im very happy for Boys/Invincible coming out soon
Barf Ennis
I like how this is basically just primarchs
except none of the heroism lol
Garth Ennis def jerks off while writing
Hot take: every "superhero bad actually?" Comic is just an edgier version of Watchmen
It is.
I finished the eisenhorn trilogy a couple weeks ago, why did Dan make a 4th book in 2018
If you are gonna make "superheroes bad" make it have some actual goddamn substance.
And it's not written in 1st person which is a tragedy
garth ennis famously hates how modern superheroes are more flippant than heroic, and he's gone over the edge of they abyss trying to make everyone else hat it too
Yeah that
Oh that also ties into Stardust
also like his favorite character is the Punisher lol
Dr. Manhatten was based off Stardust
problem is that you can't make a character stupid enough that dumb fanboy's won't flock to them so he's fighting a hopeless battle
the Punisher MAX actually slapped
I only like Punisher when he's getting into slap fights with Moon Knight
The Punpun is good when his writer is good
Frank suffers when the comic writer has no idea of what his character is aside from "kills bad people"
Most friendly primarch convo
TAKEN FROM US TOO SOON
^ Mfw my best acting gets turned into a meme for eternity
Honestly in the context of the scene its great, out of context tho yeah
It's crazy how the punisher and marvel netflix shows are the best shit marvel has done
Honest question: why did Spawn run for so long?
Because its good
Mcfarlane toys
I hate spawn so much
nooooo
because it sold comics. it was never good, but people bought them for covers thinking they'd be collector's items
If you're going to make such an edgy comic, go all in
i worked in comic shops, bad comics tend to sell real well right up until people find a newer bad comic to buy.
Thats a niche example imo
Yall read Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose?
its way too broad of a subject
spawn famously sold godawful amounts of comics to people that were more obcessed with having the collection than reading them.
now they're worthless.
Imagine if The Crow was violently misogynistic and probably racist, and then that guy saw The Human Centipede and thought it was a comedy
That's Tarot
there's a whole genre of cringey edgelord comics
I can't even post a panel to make my point, I think this book might actually be illegal in parts of Europe. Edgiest thing I ever read.
that's just bc white trash in walmart wearing cookie monster pajama pants liked the art
fr fr
tarot has a lot of tits in it for a comic drawn by a guy that's never seen a breast.
uhhh uhhh uhh source uhhh uhhh uhh
What catapulted it into fame was a slew of YouTube videos about the issue where a ghost got a fatal "down there" cosmetic surgery, so she steals a woman's genitals

I can't even rag on Tarot tho because i unironically deeply enjoy Hack/Slash
oh look a spoiler image i wonder wha-
eyes get's disintegrated
that's some of the better tarot artwork.
Hack/Slash may actually be my favorite comic, especially since it's the continuation of Evil Ernie lmao
I had to find one like that
everything else is tits
lmao
Ah yes, oldhammer sisters
Sadly for Amazon prime day, the only warhammer product on sale is the warhammer space marine board game
13 dollars for 5 tactical marines
i saw a warcry box for 38 usd
You guys have Amazon?
Is there any mention of Loyalist space marines from Traitor legions being allowed to harvest their own fallen to reuse the gene-seed in post-heresy?
No the whole topic of loyalists from the traitor legions is pretty much entirely unexplored
Post heresy I mean
We might get some info from the inevitable scouring books
considering that most if not all alive traitor loyalist became either Gk or blackshields it's unlikely
See, because here's my question. If Terra keep producing the geneseed that was taken from Loyalist space marines from Traitor legions, would that still count as Traitor Gene-seed?
Terra doesn't produce geneseed
first off what ederius said, also Terra does have gene-banks of all legions
in fact it's one of the main point of cawl going ham and using all types of gene-seed for the primaris greyshields
and that's also why some primaris only chapters look... surprisingly suspisious
Like the Sons of the Phoenix.
As far as we know there are no traitor successors
those are... eh, cause they were made by a gw employe
Only fan theories and at best rumours
i mean we do know cawl used traitor gene-seed for a fact
Who are imperial fists and that was always the intent Ironicially
Since theyβre an employees homebrew turned chapter
Ah, I see. Proud Crusaders.
Yeah theyβre meant to lean more into that aesthetic
also we got the white templars that are not IF anymore lol
They just found that out tbf
"You're not Sons of Dorn"
"What do you mean"
"I mean you're no successors of the Fists"
"What do you mean"
i mean, it was back in 8th
can't wait for Red templars to be revealed as actually white scars successors /S
Thereβs been like 0 development on it is more so what I meant
they are getting a bit of focus now
Yeah
Also the nids ate all their gene seed iirc
Tbh theyβve assumed they were sons of dorn for so long and been apart I doubt the fists will like
Toss them out lol
No their dreadnoughts all died protecting their geneseed vaults
So those are still intact afaik
oh the uh, were they the silver templars?
White
silver something
ah
are they the ones that protect dying people
or the ones that protect trade routes
ye, they even got robbed of their most important dreadnought by the iron hands lol
whats their gimmick anyhow?
they got none
oh they are a 'get fucked' chapter
oh no wait hospitallers do
they were one of the first chapters to worship the emperor as a god, also they don't follow the codex
ohHhh
dorn chapters are either insanely cool or just a recolor of another
there is no inbetween
basically yeah
Aren't the Silver Templars made from Ultramarine stock?
Yes
why did horus do a heresy
do you ever just stop and think about his actual reasons
mentally challenged
like sure there's that whole entire fever dream he had when healing from the anathema
but if a single dream is enough to make you want to kill your father
The Emp deserved it and Chaos influence
Well when your father is quite shit it's easier to wanna kill him
they lied though for a ton of it. They showed an imperium under the emperor as a god as if that's the result of him winning instead of the future that comes because of the horus heresy
idk if i worded that correctly
it's where the emperor was born
Oooh
i cannot be trusted
Atoma is the planet lol
The ritual did that and also fucked with his head, amplifying stuff like his pride and ambition
Ye, Chaos Influence
Chaos influence, the imperium being a god king dictatorship, quality of life being next to non. His father is an insane hypocrite with a messiah complex. The list goes on
Also take everything I say with a grain of salt
i will take the whole salt shaker
As I say; Revenge for Monarchia
It's cause Horus finally found out what happens when chewing 5 gums
He found the 4 gum
100 planets will burn for every death on Monarchia
So, when the blade encarmine was lost in a waagh, dante straight up banished the guy until he finds it again? I have an image of a lone blood angel wandering up and down a demon planet in the eye of terror, finding heretical bottlecaps and demonic ketchup packets for eternity
It was a group
And they already recovered it
(but the two remaining exiles didn't join the chapter back and went to try and save Leonatos)
If a psyker looked at a servitor, would it have a psychic signature?
Yes
Theyβre still alive and have a soul
So therefore they have souls?
Ah so thereβs still the possibility of release
(Through death)
To whatever likely hellish afterlife awaits
Some of them are too changed and don't really have any soul left
A good amount of lore agrees that your soul is also dependent of your physical body, hence the more bionics replace your actual body the less ´´soulβΒ΄ you have.
@green loom you can get a pretty good resin printer for super cheap right now if you want to get into model making
"pretty cheap" is still probably most of my money
And it just isn't worth the investment for me
171 usd
Oh look, almost a fifth of my paycheck
it's an addicting hobby though lol. once you start printing you can't stop
Oh I know, I simply can't cut out the time for it
Yeah I'm also either working or at my university
damn
im more doing it for the model making than the tabletop game tbh
it's a great way to visualize a custom regiment
I mean I wouldn't have places/people I know to play with anyway so same tbh
But I'm currently juggling a part time job, helping a non-profit org of a friend of mine, attempting to make music, drawing and what remains of social life lol
funny how the titan model for the drukhari is just a bigger fucking boat
idk waht i was expecting
i wonder how life is like on a timber world
Thereβs one thatβs also an admech forgeworld, itβs somewhat nice? Aside from the fact the trees are super toxic lol
oh that sounds really cool
Aren't the oceans super toxic in that one?
Like, to the point the admech refused to drain them as it would be too costly/risky
Would it be possible in Aos/40k to have magical gauntlets that when imbued with the users magic powers make it even better at punching holes through people
Kiavahr?
In 40k it would be some kind of Force power fist
(doesn't exist, but nothing says it can't)
In aos/fantasy there's magic weapons so I don't see why not
Yeah I'm basically imagining a stormcast leader punching their fist through people's skulls
Like doom glory kill stuff at a beast man herdstone
Human mages already need a catalyst or amplifier of some kind, be it a staff or amulets/other objects
I think?
the whole planets surface is super hostile to life yeah
Yes, doesn't even need gauntlets
As Psyker have Hammerhands/Steel Arms that let them do that on their own
not Kiavahr it was a world that was traitor during the HH but turned halfway through
found it
Zhao-Arkkad
but its one of the "nicer" forge worlds
as in you are probably not a slave
but just a very poorly paid laborer instead
Isn't that the one that was friends with the thousand sons and during the burning of prospero wrecked legio mortis titans due to their use of pskyer and weird psychic mechanical parts
Yes
They are still loyalist ironicailly
Makes sense aren't they not from the prospero system
They aren't
they're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere
The thousand sons helped reconnect them with the rest of the mechanicum during the great crusade
So they almost exclusively supplied them
Yeah that's what I remember from the oculus imperia video
They took down legio mortis titans, nothing more based
Also the fact that they thought they were loyalists during the entire heresy
Is pretty funny
That is
In any and all circumstances, would it be unlikely to see a full 10 astartes squad with 2 Sergeants?
I'm trying to build a tactical squad (5 firstborn and 5 primaris) but the sets I have contain a Sergeant each
Theyβre technically different unit types
Is there any space marine chapters that take un-augmented humans into battle with them?
All space marines have squires that carry their stuff around I think
As for bringing them in on equal footing
Space marines donβt do that
Well
Maybe there is a chapter that does that
But thereβs so many different chapters I canβt keep track
chapter serfs, yes. depending on the chapter, their vehicles might be crewed by humans who are completely loyal to them. some chapters make squires out of failed space marine candidates like in one of the first horus heresy books where we see the perspective of one of these guys. Other chapters see humans as weakness and have none with them
in the soul drinker books for example, the chapter has a ton of serfs that carry out menial labor and crew the ships
also the space wolves, who love having lemus russ tanks but....well, don't fit in the damn things
The trained Helot serfs of the Mentors
Admittedly less combat specialists and more there to just feed info to their attached marine
See above
From this idea I've thought of a whole AoS themed boltgun mod
Stormcast lord commander on a crusade to murder beastmen and take back anvilguard from the dark elves one druchii at a time
With the mechanic to be able to tear off a dark elves head and toss it back at the enemy as a projectile
Not very stormcast behavior but it's the dark elves
"For every slave you've taken I will slay a 100 of your kin Druchii!"
Nah its absolutely stormcast behavior lol
Good
The magic gauntlet idea could be they're some ??? creature (only revealed at the end, can be elf or something else) and you channel Qhaysh (through the individual 8 winds) through them and can individually use powers from each wind instead of individual guns
So it's kinda like you gain power ups based on each wind over the game
Selecting a power from a gauntlet summoning a magic screen like the GTA gun menu lol
Best part you fist-of-the-north-star ATATATATATATA a herdstone
I love how ordertide in AoS is just
"they hate chaos more then they hate each other"
lorewise not that likely, but you could say that it's simply two different squads, one firstborn and one primaris, who are attached together for some reason. maybe to foster better relations between the two groups, you know? make the sergeants work together and direct their squads together.
Tbh, if there was a Boltgun bus AoS, I would prefer if it was set more on the melee side of things than the ranged
Also, I don't think Stormcasts get access to all 8 winds and/or Quaysh
A stormcast could be an elf or some other creature unknown that could
In lore they get thrown together constantly I thought
Especially now that it's pretty safe to say most firstborn are just primaries
Not sure that would matter, and not even sure if that's possible
I'd love to see Larian's make a Necromunda game with their system
But it'd be cool
How about a Tide game set in AoS, against the force of Destruction (Orruks and stuff)
With one Stormcast
lol
i love this stupid setting
So do they use specialized guardsmen to operate those?
Or recruits would be better I guess
I saw this idea and got slightly carried away brainstorming bc I wanted to make subclasses for everything lol
Stormcast: Balanced generalist with options to spec into heavy crowd control/AoE lightning magic(the mage units), super tankiness (Any of the melee liberator/lord type units) or acting as a beastmaster with AI companions to take aggro and a slightly more ranged playstyle (Castigators/Gryph hound type units. Either 2-3 Gryph hounds, 4-8 Aetherwings, 1 mini drake as a companion)
Seraphon: General close ranged damage dealer, specs into skink, kroxigor or Slaan. Stealthy/slippery assassin, Melee focused Bruiser and tanky supportive Mage classes, respectively.
Aelf: ranged damage dealer class. Specs into Deepkin (Closer ranged assassin class, high focus on quickly disabling special enemies with CC and good waveclear), Lumineth (Very squishy mage with super high damage output, most directly comparable to DT psyker) and a Sister of Khaine (specifically one of the snake bodied archer units bc they're dope as hell, this would be a true ranged ADC class that's built to do as much damage from as far away as possible)
Duardin: frontliner class. Specs into a Fyreslayer(unga bunga melee damage dealer, higher damage on low HP, the whole nine yards) Kharadron (true tank class with access to a bunch of unique special weapons like tridents and cannons with their own little quirks) and Random-Drunkard-Pulled-From-Tavern-Fight-In-A-City-Of-Sigmar (Best voicelines, ability set around drinking, faster and more accurate sober; but much tankier and more powerful while drunk, balancing the mechanic to best suit what you need. I'll be honest I forgot Dwarves only really have two factions in AoS and ran out of ideas and you'd probably only end up gettting drunk to 1v1 specials or tank bosses but fuck it that still sounds fun)
I think it's better (for weapon share and stuff) if the elf and the dwarf would be from a set group, cause unlike with the Elf in fantasy where the difference are minor here they really are different; for the dwarf take the Kharadron, and the elf tbh either of them
Yeah probably true I was just trying to make it as lore friendly as possible but still open ended
I picked DoK over Sylvaneth as the archer class specifically because they're not technicallyaelves
Just feels rough to be a fan of a specific subset of dwarves or aelves and basically gettting told to take a hike bc you didn't pick the cool one that got to be a main character yknow
Might as well have each one branch 3-ways, say "tzeentch did it" and call it a day lmao
Sure, but in VT2 it worked cause they are close enough, like Dark/Wood/High are close in weapons and stuff. While in AoS it's better to look at them as wholly separate races (So no weapon overlap and stuff)
Yeah every race's other faction counterparts are super different
dwarves and elves especially
If Fatshark manages to wrap up Vermintide 2 with a Waylaid styled mission then AoS is definitely where they'll go next with Vermintide 3
Its a more active setting that also isn't dead, could serve the way with what they did to fantasy where it could bring even more attention to the IP too, but that is awhile away
Tbh I don't want a VT3
Yeah, I guess, but I'd prefer other tides
they also just kinda did everything they could with vermintide 2
Either Fantasy or AoS
AoS is deffo the next
its just very far atm
especially with darktide on the plate rn
Though I would love to see a sequel of VT but with a different system (With FS as publisher but not devs)
Unfortunately it's still raw
But Dreadtide, my beloved
Also would VT3 need to be a sequel ? Or could it be a prequel with another group and stuff ?
VT game where you play as chaos and each class is a chosen of each chaos god
I wish they firstly added more stuff to Darktide before moving to the next game π’
Yeah ? Like nobody expect them to do those games in the next few years
Darktide is gonna be around
Lizardmen, undead and something else would probably make for decent hordes lol
Like VT2 has been up for 5 year already
And while they are slowing the content for it, but they aren't dropping it yet iirc
Yeah DT was also obviously rushed
theres a lot of background drama we clearly dont know

Lots of redesign from what small we know
Like for the Archetypes/classes
And the attachments
So we've gotten nid capes, but when will we get Nid high heels?
Queen of Blades style
We haven't ?
Yeah, seems they needed another year or so
I hope so I was massively disappointed in class variety in this one
definitely this
cooking this game for another year would have been better
even if people threw a fit
Its a good game but builds feel mostly inaffectual
Well at 1st there wasn't supposed to be a class system
I did know about that yeah I just don't really feel its well implemented as is
Might also have been financial related
Yes, cause they had to change it uber late in development
And go back to class system
The gameplay loop of Dark tide is pretty good but the other aspects beat that positive to the floor with a giant hammer
Tell that to the average 40k fan
Apparently there is a stream where they confirmed that Archetypes were confirmed
I feel like it was probably for the best tho, you can't get people to play a good game if the hype died a long time ago
Honestly it was fine to release the game when it did (or maybe a month or two later after the worst bugs were done for) when the core gameplay and structure was pretty much complete and very much playable and enjoyable
Also yeah this
Soft relnauches do sometime happen
people just incredibly bashed this game
Oh definitely but the other aspects are what holds this back
Im not saying the beating wasnt deserved
but there was a huge bandwagon effect
where downvoting and leaving negative reviews came like a "trend"
they really should realise the game could have been launched like Redfall lol
Yeah I agree the game was never unplayable like people said
The worst part is i ask anyone of my friends that arent in the Darktide sphere and they say the game is fun, you try asking that to anyone in the subreddit and they'll go in a circlejerk about how Hedge should get fired or something
To gauge the intellect of the average darktide bashing redditor, you need only look at the number of people who thought the Steel Legion skin was for the Death Korps
I think after stuff like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk people are just conditioned to be able to bully every studio that fumbles on launch
You know what happened to those two though
and they still bash them for it lol
I'm gonna be honest No Man's Sky is one of the best games Ive ever played
They at least managed to improve the game
I still hate the NMS gameplay loop
But it came a long way from launch
go to planet because out of fuel, gather resources for 15 minutes to move again. Repeat
NMS is not my type of game
granted I've not played it in a while so they might've changed that since
but it was long after release
How dare you say that this game who i sunk 500hr into isn't worth it
Yeah its about the immersion tho. Most shooters are the same in the sense that its "spawn somewhere shoot all the enemies, capture objective and go next match" and I play fps games more than anything else
a couple patches atfer coop
sure but the issue with nms compared to that the gameplay isn't fun to do
Eh debatable honestly its pretty mechanically dense
Just depends on how bad you like exploring ig
I wonder if starfield is going to be any good it doesn't look like anything will come out with it considering it's Bethesda
well I love outer wilds and Subnautica for their exploration
nms doesn't do that for me
Hey when was ES6 announced again?
Might just be plot you're looking for then lol
Oh god almost 6 years ago
NMS is pretty bare on actual story elements to boost the exploration I'll admit
the first Starfield gameplay trailer looked like total ass, but the new one was surprisingly promising. Very cautious with it still because of Bethesda and their track record
that might be it
there's no drive to explore
I believe this game is not about gameplay, It's about space and exploring. If you aren't addicted to space you most definitely won't like the game
Really, I can spend a few hours in Elite just jumping on space rocks
Yeah that's fair honestly it does kinda lack narrative
I've spent hunderds of hours on Elite, just a few in NMS
but their track record is excellent. it contains one (1) bad game.
Then I would assume you like hardcore games over casual. Cos Elite also has some repetitive gameplay loops
AA-
Which one ?
Only yesterday I discovered that Dawn of War and Skyrim have the same composer.. How hadn't I noticed it before
I was playing Dawn of War while bald then
FO76 of course
because?
Skyrim has no issue
It definitely has flaws like the NPCs being so predictable that a space marine is more interesting
Uninteresting, ugly world, horrendous combat just to start with
Oh yeah the combat is you know not the best but the world that one is not something I agree with
Yep I've always said I would be willing to overlook Skyrims flaws if the world felt populated but you go into the main capitol city of the entire country and there's like 20 people spread across the entire thing it just feels really empty
Yeah the night sky is beautiful, it's definitely worth it to waste all of my clear skies scream just to clear the clouds
Doesn't hit as hard when you live in an area where those things happen in real life tbh

Hey we're talking about games that ripped apart the franchise though dawn of war three is holy crap
Lmao
Okay granted I need to go 200km north to see them more regularly but still
Dawn of War 3 is just a disaster
but those 20 people all have a name, unique dialogue, an assigned home with their own bed and their own possessions, and their own schedules, inventories and allegiances.
other games merely create the illusion of population by having lots of static or spawning/despawning nameless voiceless NPCs that are nothing but visual clutter, really. window dressing. bethesda cities are smaller but extremely content-dense and everything in them is handcrafted.
STOP
Yeah it's basically just a visual
Also this yeah
like
