damn serbia is a lot smaller than i thought
Ok nvm lmao
Must've been the state
People here tend to be really stupid and embellish a ton
Still 1/10th the size so not as small as I thought
the state is like 50 000 square km larger than serbia lol
Yep
man we have so much empty space in north america
everyone pretty much lived in either plains, near lakes, near sea
no no we're talking about merica
god damn it
the ancient terran country
don't get started on the gun-tribes
i'd like to talk about 40k tanks but there's barely any stories about them
i did ask whether felinids look like Felicity from dark stalkers
Who's Felicity
Im half sure there ARE tank novels
Battle of Tallarn was a tank battle
here it is lmao
i found one literally called baneblade and some redditors talked about tank portions of books
but what about the tank proportions of tanks
problem is there's just a couple of books
tank proportions of books
Yeah well tank books are a niche
space marine time

some factions only have a couple of books
like dark eldar
also dilara's right, if they make another tank book that's a space marine book that WASN'T written
fucking tankers man
i'll be honest, from my time on the internet i've realized that the most rabid fanbase is tank fanatics
but i want more space marine battles books
jimmy space when he can't read his 25th space marine book
because of that awesome cover art
yeah but dark eldar are the stereotypical bad guys
nah theyre good
they're also a whole faction??
tankers are part of the imperium which means they should be a ton more lore
titans are tanks that walk
but 40k is so infantry focused
then you have a chimera
infantrynaren't in tanks
everyone knows tanks are piloted by little goblins
called tank goblins
oh you cant call them that
they steal your ammunition at night
thats their word
what i find funny about the leman russ is that all its cannons clearly don't fit the turret
i'm not one to be a tank nerd for fictional tanks but come on the leman russ model could have benefited from a larger turret to attach more shit to it
Old
meanwhile the rogal dorn's turret can fit 3 people on it
they've updated it at some point
like a long time ago
ok
but imperial tanks are still wonky on the tabletop
you get 3 options and only the leman russ is worth it
the baneblade is almost useless
worst part is you can't mount autocannons on the sponsons
Boom
look at the point cost
No
it's like the mastodon
good stats
but the points
my solution is to print a malcador
HOWEVER
it's in the forge world rules
It’s from 1999
It’s old enough to drink lol
that's recent right?
No
just 10 years ago
It’s pre GW using CAD
24 years

this thing would just drop a knight instantly
and has a very good chance of dropping a primarch instantly
it's not even the most powerful gun
the shadowsword is made to kill titans
wait no that's a shadowsword
but wahapedia says the volcano cannon has 120" range
It's from that new index thing or whatever
i remember reading about one of those in a gaunt's ghosts book
they're like massive HQ's that can train, repair equipment and pretty much everything a front needs
they'll probably try to hide potential bad direction with flashy visuals yeah
i just wonder how much say GW will have
GW is pretty aggressive with things being faithful tone wise
But Amazon could come up with their own vehicles and reasonably pass it off as being in 40k
Tons of barely touched vehicle designs only mentioned in name
the Bezos pattern
books make up vehicles all the time
it's genuinely annoying when they invent a name for a vehicle and you can't find it anywhere in the wikis
Tbh
I’d rather Amazon make their own vehicle then a shitty adaptation
Or just call it a local pattern
(Knock off baneblades my beloved)
Amazon?
oh yeah made up vehicles are great to add variety to a supposedly massive imperium
throwback to when Jay didnt know what Atoman Pattern Leman Russes were

I'm just saying
GW could make a killing by selling custom 3d model files for tank flavors
Until they get leaked
Lmao
different versions of the basilisk tanks
Or they can continue making a killing on the longer term with selling the tank parts
covered up the Earthshaker cannons
official subsidiary of GW that can't be used in competitions
Teach a man to fish and all that
but they don't sell much variety because they need to make molds and those suck for small scale production. maybe not selling files but selling 3d printed variants would be great
OHHHHH, THE COMPANY OHHH
Selling resin is cheaper for smaller batches
i don't know shit about resin tbh
3D prints btw
but FW is overpriced as hell
and yesterday i was looking for an "about us" page on their site to understand wtf they are
for some reason they have a page about "policy on modern slavery"
no prison labour or offsite work
I thoguht y’all were talking about that fantasy faction
the Amazons?
The Amazon girls with laser guns
yeah and thats a good thing
yeah i dont disagree
in 40k, theyre called House Escher
it just took me a second when i saw that
Lmao shsuh
i doubt forge world's fair trade practises merit the massive overcharge
Oh yeah
What chapter should my ‘I had a vision, we gotta make sure it happens no matter what’ be a successor of
not even the guns
you don't even need one
just keep it ambiguous
what do you want the chapter to be descended from
Vision from Avengers?
Haven't you already asked that question before ?
WERE, then it got scrapped because it was dumb
I don’t think I did
nah you still kinda can
the "visions must come true" thing honestly really sounds like soul drinkers and nobody even knows their origin
just not as cool anymore
Anyway, either Blood Angel, Night Lord or Alpha
how was it scrapped
The two were expunged from history and existence
yeah but not their astartes
pray tell
how they managed to survive
sending their geneseed to terra
and not be detected?
Terra Mars, which one kept the geneseed banks?
i thought they were allowed to live
Some theory say that they were put into the other legions, but it's not really something we are sure of
And with Primaris stuff their Geneseeds might still be available
They got eaten up roman style by the UM
we are legion
BA were almsot purged from existence for being basically sewer rats in power armor
Then they found Sang
i figured out the ultramarines quirk
And dorn was like ‘fixem clown’
they're the zerg marines
cause theyre known to be bugs?
because they invade the store
I am the swarm
i bought a paint set on sale for 60$. pretty cheap for like 12 paint pots
main issue is that the paint set is for primaris ultramarines vs necrons
Oh yeah I have a few ideas (mainly thanks to @vale shuttle
so im thinking of how a blue leman russ would look
you know what's funny
My main ideas for my chapter’s name
Oracles blade
Farseers bane
The foreseers
The dreamers
because GW insists on copyrighting literally everything
the colour that's literally called ultramarine is called mccrage blue
however you spell that
Because it’s mccrage’s blue in lore lmao
dont gotta be about their abilities, again culture of their homeworld or old practices
I was thinking about that, and having a culture built around considering pykers sacred, fortune telling, and all that shit to reinforce the idea that they need to ensure their visions happen is probably the best idea
Fun fact
McCragge blue is too bright to base coat for box art ultramarines armor
Iirc
You need to first base coat in kantor blue
i will help anyone with their custom factions because it's fun to make your dudes and ||i want friends 🥺||
Ah
fate sealers
prophets
timeseekers
knights of fate
that's all i have
anyway not now because im going to sleep bye
Fate Sealers is good
Yea
Fun fact it’s that color irl
That’s such a weird blue
It’s more white
What would you use it for?
Then blue
And it’s a layer
is it cyan
Edge hi lighting cold white mostly
very nice glow effect using paints
Why are death guard’s plasma guns so fucking weird
Old
that's a cool plasma glow reflection
- gross
personally i've always imagined plasma guns as green in the books before i saw them in models
(fallout ruined me)
Yea i wouldn’t expect a blue glow to look good on DG
They can be green
will people hate me if i use necron green glow for plasma
I think green glow on green armor is a bit much
No
GW has painted green plasma before
I’d probably have done an orange plasma or a red plasma
eeeh red is reserved for lasguns imo
GW likes red for traitor plasma
but lasers can be any colour obviously so...
That’s not even true
that's more orange no?
its heated up red, warmer red become orange, followed by yellow in intensity
its standard heated metal colors
would be cool if lascannons were green or something to show that they're more powerful than lasguns
Red has a hard time being bright and turns orange
I will argue for red volkites
''''plasma coils''''
always looked like they copied DOOM to me
so pretty much anything it requires it to be
That is pretty much confirmed with rogue trader plasma lol
They look like knock off doom plasma guns
would be cool if 40k shotguns looked like classic hunter guns
GW made them super bulky as if they're combat shotguns but they still look primitive
Gav Thorpe just tweeted this then deleted it

Well we are getting a votann novel finally i guess, heres hoping he doesnt fuck it up
Oh boy they're giving them the Ynnari treatment, that's gonna go well
cringe tolkien hater
Squad of votann going planetside: "damn, i forgot my lunchbox"
Duardin
NOOO
Also this is gav so expect lots of
good worldbuilding
book faction getting their ass kicked
which tbh dwarves, so no big loss
imagine writing a word different and then having that word go in the dictionary
Dwarfs™️ is pretty much just so GW can copyright it iirc
like with Duardin
peak cringe
i seriously don't get why they fanatically copyright everything
So they have more grounds to kill infringing content
Its all about marketing yeah
Considering they steal all the material for their work
Inspiration isn’t stealing tbf
Or else it would be stealing all the way down
Mike Row Software
they'd still have to go to court and prove it if the copier uses a different name
THIS
It aint too far that often
also another thing
most court cases legit
dont wanna bother with this shit
its why GW doesnt go after 3rd companies
that copy their shit
Everyone stole from Dune
Ane i meant more figuratively anyway
The one time they did was chapter house bcs of how public it was
So please no pedantry
Too bad 🤓
90% of the human population has no idea Lucas made the Force from the Voice in dune and he has admitted to basically stealing it, which is great

The voice is great

90% of the population don't know star wars was supposed to be basically samurai sci fi
gotta love when companies take public domain IP's then change a few things and copyright it
Lightsaber enjoyers when you tell them they're just nerdier weeabols
Tbf at least they aren’t trying to copyright public domain
Disney(💀)
the amount of people who are fans of stormtroopers even though they're the literal bad guys
Stormtroopers got nice asthetics tho
Clone/stormtrooper and many 40k fans overlap
Lore is a lie, there is only fanon

star wars fanatics are arguably more irritating than 40k fans
I mean have you seen the irl Jedi temples
Unless Valrak already funded a cult I don't think there's a 40k equivalent
40k fans who dont realise satire tho
i think it's because star wars is so black and white
still more nuance than harry potter
I prefer more nuance but i still appriciate the clear black and white
Rather than "wouldnt it be great if everything was dark and grey and awful"
i feel like it just becomes stupid for star wars when the empire keeps returning. it's like the movie series is unconsciously saying that the rebels will never last
but that's more because disney refuses to make original content
Couldnt create story of smaller scale
they did that with rogue one and surprisingly it's one of the most popular movies in the sequels
Cant say as i havent seen that one
it's genuinely good
the blatant copy of empire strikes back?
or wait no the movie before that one
stormtrooper fans are funny to me because there's just 1 regiment they know
people love the old tv series with the clones but god damn the main character syndrome
i know it's made for kids but come on
all main characters running into incoming fire like it doesn't exist
star wars is notorious for bad aim on bad guys lol
This one?
May The 4th Be With You.

Just a bonus video, wanted to put together Maul's escape on the Venator from The Clone Wars Season 7 episodes 11 and 12. Simply so that people won't ne...
i dont remember that episode's clones but if they're unnamed then yeah obviously they'll die
i think it's pretty genius how they used clones as cannon fodder for gruesome deaths since there's no blood and gore
as a kid i found it fucked up how many get crushed, asphyxiated or eaten alive
but it was so damn cool
i mean it isn't but they were the ones blunt enough you didn't need an english professor to explain it.
warhammer is the only one where they decide the represent hell with physical daemons trying to kick in the door, yeah. most of the time they were trying to be highbrow about it, but warhammer ain't highbrow.
Gav 'Dwarfs' Thorpe
40k didn't "invent" many things, even though 100% original work is next to impossible
but they definitely popularized stuff like space marines
they do blatantly steal stuff though
back in the day they threw shit at the wall and waited for something to stick
early games workshop wrote most of 40k as a mockery of then-current sci-fi utopianism that frequently just straight glorified authoritarian governments.
i find it funny when futurists act like classic sci fi writers predicted anything when 95% of the stuff was ridiculous but 5% somewhat sounded like modern technology
oooh george orwell predicted skype oooo
like you read older sci-fi and galactice governments have stupid control over things and are still portrayed and the ideal because the writers got lazy and wanted to make their point about the evils of....like, unregulated farming making their yard smell.
yeah some themes are really funny
and then they get super misconstrued by people
early stephen king books were wacky
very sci fi but in his own flavor
one of my favorites is the long walk.
a group of volunteers have to walk without breaks and if somebody slows down they get executed by soldiers. the final survivor gets to have anything they want from the government
i also read rage without knowing about its controversy
yup i killed chat with non 40k books
A lot were based or owe something to the empire in foundation, but that was just the Roman Empire in space
you really can't blame one single book for stuff like this
it's a classic literature trope to have a falling empire
It’s not to blame, just everyone copied it and a bunch of other concepts
what other concepts
Hyperspace
The empire in it is also has some guys who are like admech
The tech men
The planet covered completely in city as well
Foundation is probably my favourite sci-fi book actually
ecumenopolies were definitely not invented by asimov
What came before?
Also mutants and psychic powers were in it
Maybe not the first time but they were all together in one setting
for hyperspace well as far as i know eistein's theory of relativity was the starting point of sci fi authors to find a way around how fast you can go
Yeah hyperspace was around elsewhere before
Robot but not from foundation , which has no robots until much later
didn't asimov make robot stories before foundation
that's like one of his main things
Yeah, I mean robots don’t appear in foundation
Until the sequel series which were decades later
wasn't dune written partially in response to asimov robot stuff tho, wouldn't be surprising
Yeah but all settings will have great looking bad guys since you don't want the bad guys to look lame
ok that's cheating. that thing looks sweet
Yeah but you could have these as bad guys instead
So are lasguns possible to make? At least possible for combat usage?
IRL?
Yup
I heard something about China making one a long while back, but it was too unstable.....
Irl you could if you had a backpack with a nuclear reactor in it
Meaning it's still a ways off until we can get more portable batteries
Lasers in real life are missile defence weapon's
The most lasers can do is pop missiles and make you sick
Currently, but no anti-personnel or armor capabilities because of the weight and logistics
It's not science fiction anymore.
Never miss a deal again! See CNET’s browser extension 👉 https://bit.ly/39Ub3bv
Now only we can put it on tanks
I can’t be the only one who thinks the HH tanks look like hot ass 😭
No everyone does
Oh thank goodness
And everyone's tired of marginally different tank variants
This one looks pretty good
Leman Russ?
Idk was on good images when I looked up horus heresy tanks
That's a land raider variant I think
lasguns arent accurate depictions of laser physics so not really
and you'll never be able to hold a laser powerful enough to kill somebody with just your hands
How so
the main issue is power storage. current battery technology is nowhere near the level you'd need to power such a device
it's why sci fi railguns can't work either
The tech isnt there yet
it would be one hell of a day when battery tech gets improved
literally everything could benefit from it from flashlights to your smartphone
until then, laser weapons are exclusive to vehicles that can power them with engines
mostly boats
Hence why you need a nuclear reactor in a backpack connect to your gun
i've worked with lasers powerful enough to burn your retinas just by looking at the light reflecting off a surface. they're not small and they require huge power boxes
40k explains this away with basically magic energy magazines
Yes but as with many sci-fi weapons its just a matter of "Why make this when we got much better shit now already."
Also sadly mostly IRL lasers are usually invisible 😔
wdym
what do you mean invisible
So far, all high energy laser weapons have been infrared between 1.06 microns and 10.6 microns. They are invisible and silent except for a few lasers that were pulsed which made a noise at the target with flashes of light right at the target.
Generally, the shorter the wavelength, the better. However, a visible high energy laser has many problems in terms of eye hazards and announcing exactly where the beam is coming from to everyone.
But this is way too deep of a subject for just laserguns so

no keep going, this is one of the only things i'm educated enough on to have something worthwhile to say
as far as i know most military lasers are pulsed. i assume it's because of overheating issues but i'm not sure
Yeah like i said above its just prob never gonna see action until someone makes some big discovery to miniaturise it. Its usually the fate of most "future" weapons that try to replace current generation equipment
Aka theres always some nitpick issue that the big boys dont like so it always ends up being canned, lasers are a WHOLE can of worms though
the laser itself is already pretty small. like i said before it's the power source that's the issue
we've gone a long way from helium neon lasers
Yee prety much
why do they dont just glow red
it's mostly the US navy having tons of money to waste
YEP
they got giant ship engines to power anything so they try everything
Yeah like half of the money the U.S makes goes to guns of any type lol
even that shitty railgun that didn't work
they went from fully electric powered to electric assisted chemical then said fuck it why are we even doing this
literally "future weapons" in a nutshell yeah
they will waste all these resources on it then drop it on a whim
im still surprised america adopted a new rifle that isn't made by colt
there were tons of programs to change the m4
all absolutely hilarious to read up on
I think the only one I really liked was the XM stuff
I BELIEVE these only got scrapped at the very last moment over something very stupid.
The system was unable to meet performance and weight requirements and was eventually canceled. In the aftermath, the two portions of the OICW were separated, resulting in the XM8 and XM25 projects.

did you see that
i swear i literally just copied a thing to my clipboard and i post that
what
this is what i wanted to post
no the bot didnt delete
Oh lmao
it just straight up posted porn
i think it's just on my end
well anyways that suit is a real thing
this is real
people were paid to work on this
Damn, I do hate it
and conspiracy theorists act like the government has any tech at all
"what aren't they showing us"
welcome to the ACR program
Okay ill say tho
from a "gamer" perspective
these guns are great
the 2nd one was in Black Ops too
they are wack af but still
but look at this
now THAT looks like a Gun™️
The AAI ACR was a prototype flechette-firing assault rifle built for the US Army's Advanced Combat Rifle program of 1989/90. Although the AAI design proved effective, as did most of the weapons submitted, the entire ACR program ended with none of the entrants achieving performance 100% better than the M16A2, the baseline for a successful ACR wea...
funny how the M16 was eventually replaced with the M4 without any trials
not shady at all
imagine if they went with this though
soldiers would be shooting flechettes at eachother
Actually yeah good point i never noticed that lol
somebody pointed it out to me and i kept thinking about it ever since
colt has had many deep connections in the military
Yeah thats just how the industry goes unfortunately
one of my favorite prototypes though
XM106
OH CHRIST
Whats with the grim on the railing xd
this was in the same program that got the m249 adopted
this is literally what the ballistics research laboratory submitted
a motherfucking M16 with a taped mag and a bipod
you know what the best part is
YOU CAN TAKE OUT THE BARREL
this is some Azrael bolter tier eldritch horror
this thing is stupid on so many levels
as if you'd be firing enough rounds with this thing to require a barrel change
Isn't that even better? Sure it doesn't look cool, but traceless munitions
Imagine the mayhem as a sniper or tanker
i don't think the geneva convention has anything about snipers
as long as it's quick and painless
you do know that most ammunition doesn't have tracers right
during daytime right
tracers is just to help a gunner focus their aim
it's not that useful for riflemen
I didnt know about that
the high inquisitor. so yes.
organizationally, at least in the helican subsector, it goes acolytes -> inquisitors -> lord inquisitors
and i think there's some kind of inquisitorial conclave above the lord inquisitors, or something that can be called if needed, and probably other stuff between them and the actual Inquisitorial representative on the high lords
what might happen if an inquisitor failed at their task? like if they were tasked with watching/protecting a dangerous but valuable target and the target escaped
Depending on the severity
They’ll be judged by their peers
And they’ll make a decision there
^
im planning on running a dark heresy game and the main premise is that the acolytes are working for an inquisitor who's been tasked with watching a rogue trader- the rogue trader is an uber-powerful psyker who's too dangerous to be around any major anyone, but too valuable to just be executed. Therefore, he has a deal with the imperium where he's allowed to be a rogue trader so long as he has an inquisitor breathing down his neck at all times
oh yeah the romance story
yeah those two
i was wondering what might happen to the inquisitor if the psyker escapes- my intent was for him to slowly start going insane over the course of the game, culminating in him making a beeline for holy terra, believing himself powerful enough to "tear down the lighthouse and remake it with himself at the center" (as far as i'm aware if he even made it onto terra's surface the custodes would send him straight to god same day shipping but still)
if he even makes it past the first mandeville point on a segmentum solar planet
whens the game setting?
probably shortly after the fall of cadia, got a couple members of the ship's crew that are cadian vets so cant be more than 20-30 years after
because at present, theres like what 10 battlefleets in the good side of the great rift
sometime during after the long night
or during for some unlucky bastards
my intent is for gideon (psyker) to make a beeline straight to terra, luckily at this point his ship'd be falling apart and the party would have time to catch up while he commandeers a new ship. Would a "Gideon will not reach Sol. You are going to fix this." (or else implied) to the inquisitor from her superior seem fitting?
yeah
ok, i wanna remain semi lore accurate
also totally unrelated but i just had the glorious idea of an orc who found a damaged boltor and has convinced himself that the damaged magazine (its missing its bottom half) is a "bottomless mag"
depends how high ranking the inquisitor is
inquisitors don't have a set command chain but there's definitely an element of how known you are
man, anyone going to terra without express permission to do so is gonna get wiped before they make in-system. there's a whole fleet around the planet to stop random ships from swinging by.
honestly
i bet terra isn't that hard to get into
there must be so much traffic that it's not that hard to slip into another ship's profile undetected
the whole thing with astropaths would screw that up.
tell that to the custodes agents
oh right, and then there's those guys.
my point is that the terran security is more on planetside. like what are you going to do on TERRA once you get there
planetside?
get nuked, mostly
every citizen is probably monitored 24/7
you can slip into a cargo ship then
it's not even probably, it's explictly the case. you on terra, you're being watched by the miulitary and the inquisition.
Custodes Sagittar on Terra can remember faces for decades
like i don't think a genestealer will have that many problems finding a way on terra
but the moment they try making a cult they instantly get rooted out
segmentum solar is tough nut to crack as well
getting into it
segmentum solar fleet is the best equipped (as they say)
i mean they get caught before they even land, they inspect any visitors stupdily throughly in case of chaos shapeshifters.
see that's the part i don't think makes sense
have you seen how large 40k ships are
terra must take hundreds of ships every week just to sustain itself
yeah, but those ships don't land.
there's always flaws in any screening process, especially for high volume
they'd devastate the planet just from gravity. you get a smaller craft that inspects all goods to be taken before loading them.
does terra have a space dock
probably
i thought they just had massive landing pads
idk other planets usually get stated if they have space docks or stations like mars
terra is an ecumenopolis
they have a whole flotilla of those huge spacecraft, they probably have a network of space docks.
knowing how silly 40k is there's probably a space elevator that's been built up into a giant shrine.
ok ok actually tangent time: how hard would it be to slip into mars
Mars is the headquarters of the Segmetum Solar Fleet
even the mechanicus doesn't know wtf is in the mars vaults
and is home to the most important Forgeworld
depneds, how cool are you with radiation, and how much are the admech willing to break the rules to get what you're offering?
see, i agree with this
mechanicus are the merchant faction
they always have a price
more like the nerd collector faction.
come on they're always after more valuables for clout
the Smithsonian, the best Merchant Faction in america
"i have the original laserdiscs of the 6 million dollar man"
"The sacred texxxtttssss!!!"
but mechanicus don't put shit on display, they just horde it
it's all about clout
(star forts exists, so thats a thing floating in Terra probably)
wouldn't it be stated if it was?
we know for a fact that mars has a ton of orbital stuff
they don't put shit on PUBLIC display.
there's probably hangers with whole titans kept just so they can go down and stare at it.
is that what they do with tech
they just stare at it
mmmh that's some good tech right there
like the Smithsonian, the faction of merchants
or play with it. might be some arguments about that. "the plasma gun has to be mint-in-box! get your oily hands away from it!"
Mars is the planet of base reference, Techmarines gotta learn somehow
since most gets shipped to mars to earn their right in the priesthood
more like the museum of london because they steal everything that looks cool
and then misunderstand it
they do it for clout and are merchants, you right
im glad we agree
someone has to agree with you
yeah because i'm usually right 😎
my favourite merchant faction is Dark Angels and how they keep things in the Rock for clout
my other favourite merchant faction is Trazyn
don't forget the blood ravens
is dune that tv show that came out a few years ago
I am going to throw you into a sand worm
my favorite adaptation is the movie
Which one lol
because sting is in it for like 5 seconds and dies immediately
1984 one
it's an extremely trashy movie
but very fun

Lol
Picard is breaking the first directive again.
that old fuck is gonna have to learn some day
He's Gurney if I recall
Cringe
are there any powersuits that semi-regular humans could wear?
like something an inquisitor would put on if shit hits the fan
oh interesting
a lot of of it, archeotech especially
i'm wondering what's most likely something an ordo malleus inquisitor would throw on if shit gets wild
depends on what he could buy, steal or trade
a high standing inquisitor definitely has access to his own power armour and maybe even a personal force field
But Admech Tech Priest have Power Armour, some rivalling Space Marine or better
Necromunda Spirers/Spyrers have Power Amour, as do some of the Van Saar
Solar Auxillia had access to plenty of Power Armour too
But it's not really something we reject will get
inquisitors right out of training probably barely even have clothes
i've explained it a few times in this chat so you might've seen it before but basically i'm gonna be running a dark heresy game and the party's this is assigned to watch over a specific rogue trader.
Said rogue trader is a very powerful psyker, who was essentially given the rogue trader role to keep him away from the rest of the iom without actually getting rid of him. The main condition was that he has to have an inquisitor breathing down his neck at all times, enter Inquisitor Gloria
Terminator armor
how new is the inquisitor
Gloria's not a new inquisitor but she's not exactly a vet. She however WOULD have access to a lot of shit cuz she's constantly traveling
Inquisitor are trained by other Inquisitor, so I think it will really depend on who was your teacher
and she keeps failsafes on hand incase the psyker loses it
is she a fanatic loyalist or a bit lenient
whats warhammer lifespan
For inquisitors? Up to a few hundred years
lenient. she's the type to sit down and have coffee with her acolytes
Provided they don't get killed
Give her a Stake Crossbow and warded Power Armour or if you want to be cheap warded Plate armour
They mean is she a Radical or Puritan
she'd have access to some exotic shit then like digital weapons
what's the difference
Radical meaning they'll use practically anything to protect the imperium
Puritan being strictly imperial stuff, minimal warpstuff, very traditional
she's def radical
Fuck sake my Hungarian autocorrect decided to turn on for some reason
yup so she might even have xeno tech
Digital weapon aren't always xeno tech
they're exotic is my point
They're used by Chadmech
But still a Puritan could also see the use and have some
i had a couple xeno mercenaries in mind that i actually was thinking mightve been hired by gideon (psyker) or gloria. main one was an orc freebooter who was gifted a broken heavy boltor by the ship's tech priest.
The orc has been convinced that the magazine is "bottomless" cuz it is in fact without a bottom
That must be one nutty tech priest
she thought it'd be funny to see if it worked
Just hope she hides when meeting other admech
yeah i imagine giving an orc imperium tech is probably pretty taboo
hanging around an ork is heretical to begin with
don't rogue traders kinda get special privilege
tell that to a guardsman
ik the actual rogue trader rules let u play a few xeno races
Depends who they meet
Most of the time they tell whoever's asking to go fuck themselves
most people who've ever fought orks would shoot him on sight
fair
Both Inquisitor and RT have a great value of indepenance and authority where they could try to keep xenos as acolyte, but still would be not trusted
Imagine trusting an Eldar
at least the ork is honest
May as well stab yourself at that point
I'd trust an Ork before I trust an Eldar
Same thing for Orc and Elf
funny idea: they keep trying to send the ork on obvious suicide missions hoping he'll figure it out and he just keeps coming back unscathed
you know, orks get bigger the more they win battles
i did not
i had this idea about a military force once
Somewhat, still is very slow
Plus they have an upper limit
What are we, some kind of suicide squad?
eyyy that's hot
based on something that happened with the romans, where sometimes they'd get sent on expeditions that the senate didn't think had a good chance of sucess explicitly to get rid of some ambitious upstart
anyway, then the victorious force came home and the republic fell
Is that what Jules Cheeser did?
it's a very simplified description of one of his earlier campaigns, yeah
also yeah i'd rather trust an ork over basically any other xeno race.
Same with khorne followers. A khorne follower's never gonna stab you in the back. They'll wait for you to turn around and then stab you in the face
No a Khorne follower WILL stab you in the back
but it happened a lot, particularly when someone had a bee in their bonnet about something stupid and could rouse up a rabble
senate would go good luck
he won't stab you he'll grab you and tear you in half
but they didn't do it out of malice, it was just the closest available part of you
that's what i like, you can always trust a khorne follower to want your immediate and violent death
"they didn't do it out of Malice"
Yeah they're just screaming their lungs out in rage they can't help it lmao
Or the front, but he will mock you for turning your back to him
pro tip: berserkers can't kill you if you throw away your weapon
(sponsored by khorne worshippers)
Unless they're too busy foaming at the mouth looking for a baby to step on
Where?
Now they'll rip you to pieces first, and then youll bleed out
Difficult to explain, but Psyker/Warp power aren't exclusive to one another like how it is in Fantasy
psyker is space magic in lore
P- P- P- Plot device!
so like one psyker might just have a set of skills they're attuned with, its not like they're a type of psyker?
For the Rpg, there are 5 discipline + 2
Telekinesis, Pyromancy, Biomancy, Divination, Telepathy
- an Emperor and Malleus ones
But then you have other things, like the Primaris types, which often take not of those powers
is there any form of psyker that focuses more on manipulation?
But you also have special cases, like Astropaths, who have some telepathy and freeze power
Mfkers can barely manipulate themselves let alone others
Telepathy discipline
And Will Unleashed for Primaris iirc
people underestimate how hard astropaths go
Gideon's a very disciplined psyker
he's still batshit insane but he's very disciplined
make sure the person who plays them is good at acting insane
oooh
unless the party for some fucking reason sides with him
NPC
Represented by Psyker Soyjack
You're asking the party in a tabletop game not to side with the guy that'd sponsor murder hobos
Navigators aren’t really traditonal psykers
As well
They sort of fall into their own caragory
With their own unique powers
Caragor riders
also for context on how insane, mf thinks he can
A: enter sol
B: get to terra
C: enter the palace
D: somehow enter big e's throne room without getting instantly crushed by the psychic presence
E: kill big e without instantly dying to the psychic scream
F: take the golden throne
G: project the astronomicon himself
when in reality he'd get sent straight to god the second somebody realizes he's there
this man thinks he's the reincarnation of malcador
literally the second he enters sol his ship'd get shot down
Navi aren't Psyker afaik
Because apparently it's unbelievably painful for them to be near him
but my plan is to essentially have gloria and gideon be the main two quests-givers, and have them slowly rift apart and force the party to pick a side
i can see him getting on the planet somehow but the moment he gets within view distance of the golden area he's vaporized
Why wouldn't he be able to get to the planet, he's still a Rogue Trader
Getting on terra is the easy part
do you have an ocean's 11 style heist if they pick gideon
like the intent is for the two to start kinda pitting the party against the other, little shit at first.
Report on this. Spy on that.
Eventually it becomes stuff that the party essentially has to pick a side cuz they can't keep both sides happy
if they decide to help gloria it'd culminate in gideon fucking losing it and trying to make an unprotected warp jump straight to terra
(he's not supposed to be his own navigator also)
so he wants to die
he's convinced himself that he can "tear down the lighthouse and rebuild it with him at its center"
what do you think
also gideon likely gets away but his ship gets damaged and it'd turn into the party having to hunt him down because he is technically gloria's problem and gloria is fucked if he actually becomes a problem
actually his ship could merge with a space hulk infested with demons and end up in the solar system. that would cause quite a final battle scene where your characters have to fight him while the solar fleet is shooting shit in the background @upbeat dagger
I think this is making me want to play Pathfinder, which I can't do
that's actually dope
whats a space hulk
giant heaps of melted ships that are tumbling in the warp
It's a big mass of ships lost in the warp that have fused together and emerged in real space
absolutely infested with xenos or demons
They tend to pop in and out of reality at random
(and full of valuable technology)
Space Hulk are gigantic (even compared to Space Ship) things that float in the Warp and real space, often almagation of different ships, astroid, and even often infested by Warp denizen and Genestealers
what are genestealers?

aren't they a form of nids or smthn
Ye
ok
They're the ones that infect other species to make cults
i know what genestealers are
Yes, the naked looking ones
i just didn't know which faction they came from
also isn't terminator armor actually technically reactor maintenance armor
terminator armour is heavy space marine armour
definitely not something humans can wear
wasn't it originally built for reactor maintenance or smthn and marines just modified it
They can
And it was adapted for marine use iirc
Don't remember exactly what it was
yeah like 20k years ago
ik a lot of Imperium tech is just repurposed shit
I always find this funny when index astartes mentions that terminator armour can make you survive getting stomped by a titan
Mining iirc
if your guys find an intact piece of terminator armour made for normal humans then they've hit the motherload of archaeotech
Malleus inquisitors in particular tend to use termi armour
also cool setpiece idea for the first fight with gideon: the fight taking place in a ship frozen in the first instant of its destruction, held together by raw psychic power
At least the more influential ones
Human power armour=/termie armour
They all use power armour
yeah terminator armour is heavy even for space marines
But malleus specifically get terminator plate sometimes
Malleus pattern is not a termie plate
But it's still bulky as fuck
Unlike the Ignatus
basically gloria ordered the bombardment of gideon's ship so that he didn't just instantly brain blast the party, cuz she knew he'd focus his power to hold the ship togrther
sounds cool but idk if a psyker can do that unless they're really powerful
i want to specify my intend with gideon is that he is a terrifyingly powerful psyker
like the iom made him a rogue trader to get rid of hum
dark heresy campaign character
alpha plus psykers can crush ships like tin cans
Oh
he's an npc possibly villain
that i plan on running
he's INTENDED to be the villain but this is a ttrpg we're talking about
squat exo armour
yeah not an actual character im just rambling about ideas for a dark heresy campaign i wanna run
Then yeah you should consider that the setpiece also stops holding up once the source of psykic power is defeated
the moment he stops concentrating it goes kaboom
the first fight probably wouldn't he an attempt to kill gideon, it'd just be Objective: Survive
hold him off from trying to blast his now failing ship into the warp until gloria can get there and fight him head on
but like as a powerful psyker why doesn't he crush them like ants
that's why i had the idea of the ship getting hit with bombardments
he has to concentrate like 95% of his power on not instantly dying
interesting
player manages to luck stun Gideon, subsequently making everything blow up as he's no longer focused
funny you say that
Depends on the blank scale? Considering he's supposed to be a very powerful Psyker apparently
this is all very late campaign stuff im just throwing out ideas for fun
Ovus pattern power Armour!
another thing that i was considering was Gloria having a child, that she keeps on her ship at all times, who is in fact a blank
a psyker giving birth to a blank is extremely ironic
I would avoid using blanks in a story
why's that?
gloria is the inquisitor
gideon's the psyker
oh right
i actually hate those old dreads. why is the head its own thing as if the entombed space marine still has to move it
Quite literally
For show
also curious why i shouldn't use blanks in a story
I mean, inside the porthole it's the same for a normal dread lore wise
Difficulty of use and balance, especially if you villains are psykers
fair
yeah but the porthole dreads are clearly fully entombed. the movable head ones are just weird
They aren't movable
Also may or may not make the party realize the power bomb he could be and we are getting a second King in Yellow in the making
Or if they are they're probably a camera
?
Tl:Dr King in Yellow is a character that's making himself an army of blanks and space marines with angel wings
Don't worry... it gets weirder
Like, "trying to find the Emperor's real name to gain power over him like a daemon" weird
His real name is Aladeen
Not the actual head actually, just a bundle servos and cameras for the entombed marine to better get used to the surroundings from a point of view of a familiar setup
Isn't his oldest name Neoth or something ?
Fuck if we know
well oldest we know of
i mean, his real name is quite obviously John Warhammer
with his traitor son Horus, the Warhammer 40k
i thought his son's name was Horus Heresy
that's after he changes his Surname
ohhh ok
i was really confused as to why the emperor would name his son "horus heresy" thats just asking to get heresy'd
the emperor's true name wouldn't be neoth, it'd be something stupidly long because a true name isn't just the first name you have it's a name that represents you, everything you are, everything you aspire to be, and everything you've done
also unrelated completely but the only thing holding me back from buying an army rn is all the ones i want havent been updated to 10e. But legit if they dropped Corvus Corax i would instantly buy a ravenguard army
yep, seriously speaking Neoth is the first name we know used by the emperor... well, after all powerful human psyker souls got together to make him.
and big e is 41K+yo
goddamnit the filter killed my funny joke
soi the emperor's true name is probably "fascism" repeated 56 times
lol
anyhow yeah, Big E true name also probably contains the name of every shaman that off'ed himself to be part of the "New Man"
im sorry to let you know that corvus isn't dropping anytime soon, and that there's gonna be no more major army updates for like a year i'd guess
tyranids got the edition refresh
so wtf is happening with 10e then
uuuhhh
is 10th edition backwards compatible?
