Commissars also hate any sort of DIY weapon mods afaik. One of the reasons being that requisitioning a replacement for your broken weapon is a bureaucratic nightmare
Also, what do melee orks think of 'dainty' melee weapons like daggers, sabres and rapiers?
Make it a choppa u git
<3 French bill hook
Daggers are fine since it’s just a smaller choppa
Sabres and rapiers are humie weapons
what, do they void any warranties by DIYing their gun?
It's in the graian warranty contract
I feel the only type of ork to use explicitly a saber or rapier would be a freebootah, since they’re themed after pirates and all. I feel like if an ork can use it and have fun, though, he’d enjoy it. Like a choppa. They love their choppas
me trusty cutta cutlass, arrr!
Damn I forgot about those guys. Good point!
Guys is there already painted models?
I don’t want to paint I paint like shit that’s why
Either 2nd hand model or buy them through painters
True
True
Would you rather become a helbrute or an anchorite, trapped in a chaos machine or forced to live in a dreadnought penitent engine
I think I’d rather blow my own fucking brains out
But helbrute
Mostly since I’m going to die a lot faster
Well you're actually exposed in a Penitent Engine, depending on the model design of your torture
You might just get shot and die on the spot
You are not exposed in an anchorite
The casket is intentionally built to be far more durable
Then the rest of the machine
Sad
Ah fuck, then yeah maybe Helbrute in cases someone has fantastic aim and shoots me square in the head
What would you say the positives of worshipping each chaos god are
When you aren’t actively being screwed over
Khorne grants you strength and a way to forget your troubles in the joy of battle. Tzeentch gives you access to knowledge and power you could never hope to obtain. Nurgle removes your pain and suffering and is quite fond and loving of his servants. Slaanesh offers you a chance to experience sensations in ways you could never imagine.
Plus, if you make it there’s always the chance at elevation to daemon prince to obtain immortality and power beyond your wildest dreams.
To add to that, Tzeentch allows you to change your fate in ways you could have never thought to be possible, while Nurgle could keep you down a path you find most comfortable with no unexpected changes coming in a abruptly
Tzeench would 100% let you be trans, for some people thats a plus
With the amount that thousand sons are referred too as "androgynous" this is concernignly lore accurate
So would Slaanesh.
slaanesh wouldn't let you, slaanesh would wake you up one morning and say "surpise, you have 19 tits and a horse cock that cant be satiated every, buh bye~"
Tzeench might be courtious enough to make it an option to no longer be whatever gender you are
before promptly removing all gender form your body, and having it cycle with your mood
Blessed that isn't a kink, slaaneshification
oh boy do I have news for you :)
The most important thing to understand about these "benefits" is they are largely side effects. Sure you will find peace form your troubles when you fall to khorne, but there is a high likely hood that when your out of combat, your life will be agony, kind of like the butchers nails. Tzeench granting you access to knowledge and power sounds cool on the surface, until you understand that that knowledge and power will never end until you explode into insanity. Slaanesh's sensation is in equal gifts a blessing and a curse, sure you now know what if teels like to suck your own dick, but now you need more you can't feel sensation, you become numb and are constantly forced to seek more. Nurgle may bestow upon you his gifts, and free you of pain, but you'll become numb and lethargic, unable to want or desire. The blessed of nurgle are incapable of true change, you will become stagnated.
also nurgle does not love you, nurgle loves how you progress the cycle
That’s not how he’s described in the dark imperium where they say he’s an indulgent grandfather who is fond of children.
Nurgle's follows beleive he loves them and bestows them with gifts
Nurgle sees them as little creations, he doesn't view them with hate or anything, but he cares less about the cultist, and more about how the cultist progresses his purpose
I would urge you to read up on mortarion and the death guard and see what nurgles love is really like lol
the stories form aboard the tempest est are truly something
Yeah but if I name-drop I'll look like a freak
Do it coward
we paint miniatures and roll dice do play little green army men spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars, none of us have any ground to judge you on
Tf fetish just transformation but transforming into a steed of slaanesh
I would urge you to read the dark imperium trilogy to see how much fun his daemons and other followers are having.
are we on another "nurgle is the nice god" thing again?
Mortarion ignores a direct order from nurgle but nurgle decides to indulge him anyway and let him do what he wants.
I don’t think he’s nice at all.
After all, inflicting his diseases is how he shows affection.
k
Sorry. “Gifts.”
Nurgle's gifts are the kind no one wants and everyone tries to return lol
His followers don’t mind. Typhus sees nurgle really mess up this one human in unspeakable inhumane ways and considers the man lucky for receiving so much love.
It’s horrific.
his followers are brainwashed fools and/or mindless drones
His daemons are having fun. In the dark imperium storyline they have an actual parade.
Just for fun.
ofc his daemons are
As for the mortal followers no we don’t really see much benevolence. There’s been at least one occasion where a Khorne Berzerker has shown actual honor but that’s about all I can think of.
a man with more maggots in his veins than blood is not having a good time
Well they don’t feel the pain of it. That’s Nurgle’s blessing.
there is no benevolence in chaos, Nurgle just seems benevolent
In the situation I mentioned, a Khorne Berzerker allowed a group of guardsmen to form a volley line and shoot him. In his own words, he recognized their inferiority and wanted to give them at least once chance to kill him.
He didn’t even try to avoid it or block the shots.
Purely for the sake of honor.
This only reinforces my point lmao
His followers see him as loving in caring
in reality he is apathetic
He’s forgiven the ones that messed up his plans.
why should a doctor care about his Petry dishes?
This is unironically nurgles approach
There’s also this hilarious moment where some plague marines get hit by some heavy weapons and one of them stands back up and legit waves at the ones what shot him.
yup, its why i said it
Nurgle's followers are just Petry dishes to him
hell imo the only reason he stops them from feeling the pain is so they wont fuck up the germination
Nah it’s because if he didn’t numb the pain they’d be in too much agony to be of any use. We see what happens when they get cut off from it. The plague marines feel the full pain and horror of their condition.
fair point
That’s a moment in dark imperium as well.
It and the Death guard codices have tons of great nurgle lore.
I have a DG army. ^_^
You even get a glimpse of a planet with humans ruled by nurgle. All of them have a disease of some kind and saying “get well soon” is an insult.
tbf through, i wouldn't care much about diseases if im not gonna feel anything about said disease
Okay so, let’s say gw needs to add a new faction to all the factions/super factions, space marines, imperium, chaos, xenos, eldar, (nids ig maybe pass) what would they be
God 40ks faction system is so weird
So 1 sub faction as in Imperium>Admech/Imperial Guard...
Or one as in Admech>Mars ?
I’m I’m pretty sure their system is
Super faction > faction > sub faction
So it would be
Imperium > admech > mars
So just a new faction
But then they. Call space marines a super faction?????
At least on the store page
So idk
Well the groups are lopsided, because apart form the Imperium and the Chaos there aren't really any super faction in that sense in lore
A space pirate faction of humans and xenos.
Tyr getting a new sub Factions would most likely end up with it being either Genestealer 2.0 or maybe plant based Tyr
I love rogue traders we need army rules
Human pirates are well documented in the lore so something that’s a human faction with a different style of tech (more ramshackle then repurposed gsc vehicles) but are also decently fast.
That could work to.
Maybe there’s subfaction rules for all the types of rogue traders + normal pirates
- chaos pirates
That’s the red Corsairs.
Quite difficult to find new factions for each groups, mainly because the groups are so lopsided, like there is 2 Imperial group (SM and Armies of the Imperium), 1 Chaos Group (Which contain SM too) and Xenos Armies, which contain everything else
Doing it for AoS is way so easier though
That’s why I came up with my suggestion, a neutral faction that could have some humans and xenos. Sort of like the free cities I guess?
I had an idea that when making your army you had to balance a loyalty and depending on how loyal the crew is in total it changes how it plays
Nothing crazy but like ‘oh your total loyalty is a 2 you, you have worse moral but better melee ect ect’
Idk rogue traders just needs to eh a super soup army
Yeah that would be cool!
Going with books to have it easier
Armies of the Imperium: Astra Telepatica (I want more Psyker)
Space Marine: Nothing needed
Counting that the Emperor's Children will get their books, Chaos: Lost and the Damned or Darkmech
And for Xenos: Exodites maybe
And for AoS (Order/Destruction/Chaos/Undead)
Order: Bretonnia/Haven (Fey Court inspired, with Knights, and Peasant that are better treated)
Destruction: Fimirarch
Chaos: Chaos Dwarf
Undead: Tomb King ?
But I do like the way Old World seem to go forward, with 3 Sub Faction for every faction
Weird chaos dwarves aren’t in AOS
Well they have lore
And an army but they only exist in forge world
Imperium does need a pyker heavy army, besides grey knights
Hashut is told to exist on many occassions
its mostly just "doesnt exist on tabletop > wont be in lore until it is"
Yeah, the Hobgobbo who are with the Krule Boiz mention them
Hashut is worshiped by one of the warcry warbands as well
True, but they are humans right ? Horn of Hashut
There’s a chaos dwarf in it
Iirc
I think the Dwarf is in another Warband iirc
You’re right
Iron Golem
Yeah
Chaos dwarf
Also chaos dwarfs were an expensive as hell army
Since everything was forgeworld
Including your line troops
Which led to even more obscene prices then the average fantasy army
tbh, the only table top I played in fantasy was Dreadfleet and a bit of adapted Mordheim
Fair lol
Just have to wait for Dreadtide to fill the void that Dreadfleet game left, and a K8P turn based fighting game
will be waiting for audio for sure
its very doomer'y
does a good job of negating the shit writing of making the traitors constantly lose in the last few Siege books
@storm jungle ... how do you have it .. I have to wait a week..
Oh this is a PDF, bought it
I forgot i even did admittedly, was on the horus heresy site thingy
how?!
This is a pre-order title, available to download from 25 Feb 2023.
I dunno
I ordered it and got it
if its a mess up on the site's part its not my fault
kek
How much is the normal version
ive heard the Salamanders' Geneseed is horrifically fucked up, how did that happen and what does it mean?
It’s not though.
It’s been changed by the planet they’re on yes and it gives them glowing eyes and charcoal colored skin.
But as far as geneseed goes it’s pretty stable for their neophytes.
The traitor marines geneseed is and can’t be used for that. For the most part anyway. The death guard codex implies they use their fucked up corrupted plagued geneseed anyway which… well it isn’t really that surprising if you think about it.
so what legions are there? loyalist legions at least
i know of salamanders, ultramarines, iron hands?, spacewolves
Well before the second founding when they got broken in to chapters it’s those four plus the dark angels, the blood angels, the Raven guard, imperial fists, and the white scars.
My personal favorite is the dark angels. But that’s besides the point. XD
they are talking about a preorder for the physical copies
the book isn't available in stores or as an ebook/audiobook until the 25th
must have shipped early
they release the ebooks before the 'official' release date a lot lmao
they love just smashing that 'SEND IT' button
Hey what planet did the Necrons in the Indomitus Crusade come from? (The starter kit Indomitus not the event)
I wanted to use their colors for Dark Crusade
Necrons aren't from particular planets but they're part of the Szarekhan Dynasty
I think it's some planet in the Xendu system?
no
or the system? idk
thats just the heart of the pariah nexus
their capital is the Silent Kings planet sized ship
since they're his most loyal dynasty
In Dark Crusade the paints are named after the tomb worlds so I thought they’d have similar colors to the planet they awoke on
Are they named after tomb worlds?
tbh i don't think it's specified if they came from a specific world or not
They’re armies are called Kronus, Verdus Prime, Lorn V and so on
Since Kronus is their tomb world I thought that’s how necrons were
nah
Though I’m not too familiar with 40K lore so
They identify themselves by their dynasty more so
Ooooooh
Yeah ima guess they’re named after planets because maybe dynasties weren’t made for them yet, so they named them after the planets they awoke on
yeah its oldcron lore
What’s Trazyn’s dynasty then
dawn of war's depiction is abit out of date
Ah thanks
I bet they do
They're notorious for hoarding wealth
Hey while I have you here does Trazyn actually have Pokéball-like mechanisms?
Sorta?
I can’t tell if it’s a joke based on him stealing or not
I just like the idea of this giant skeleton robot going around Kanto to catch ‘em all
One hell of a ball
but he doesn't literally throw them
Aww boooo
lol
He most likely has one
incorrect
Trazyn's tessrract cubes are smaller
They do come in massive sizes, but the one trazyn uses are described as being hand held by him
@topaz gate
I don't believe so
he also doesn't really shrink them, he just has smal tesseract vaults he uses for smaller things
i.e., not holding an entire c'tan shard
Hell yeah
yeah the ones we see him use in the book "the infinite and the divine" are described as being small handheld cubes essentially
they temporarily "expand" to capture whatever the hell he threw it at
and then retract down to size
you can think of it like a rubicks cube blowing up, and then un blowing up
this is what one would use to not just hold a god, but use it's power
yep
the notable thing about that vault specifically is that it doesn't let it's captive free when it opens
Trazyn feeding the deceiver shard he has with more deceiver shards is fucking stupid
Its gona blow up in his face
i mean it makes sense for his character
It does
the ultimate collector of information and priceless artifacts
whats a better artifact than a reborn god
although he's not really feeding it full on shards
more like
deciever slivers
nuggets
a slight sprinkle of star god
really want a follow up to that
dude i still cant believe robert rath wrote that book lmao
the dude writes kids stories for fuckin
years
mostly about animal shit (Identifying animal scat and things, like scouts books)
and then he comes into 40k out of fuckin nowhere
and for his first fucking book
writes probably the best non SoT story from the past 5 years
its like the composer for Metal Gear Rising Revengance
Yeah
wait is there 10 loyalist chapters?
Nah, only 9 lineages.
But 1000 plus chapters
ah ok
this lists manders, ultramar, iron hands, spacewolves, dark angels, blood angel, ravengard, imperial fists, and white scars
thats 10
dark angels twice
You said dark angels twice
Yeah that's a HB
wait
Okay that’s what I thought lol
I thought I was going insane
XD
oh im dumb
not for custodes
GK...sorta ish.
Though they are all transhuman
what geneseed do GK use?
Everyone's
i've heard custodes described as "to an astartes as an astartes is to the average mortal"
you might be thinking of the deathwatch
Their own, though at first they took Librairians geneseed
librarians?
Yes, so they aren't SM, they are their own class
SM Psykers
ah
i've heard of some imperium faction that uses "the emperor's geneseed" who's that?
Grey knights
ah ok
They don’t fit into the existing marine structure
Technically
Considering their job is to kill daemons
And fight chaos
Yeah
so aside from being violently xenophobic most of the astartes are p chill right
No
They usually have a superiority complex
No one is chill
ah ok
i hear good things about salamanders and spacewolves
If you show any sign of chaos taint
Best described as living weapons. When out of combat for prolonged periods of time.....well best not to find out, any excuse to kill can be justified
Space wolves are chill to their servents
It's 40k and they die lot
No one has time to be chill
Space Wolves will gladly get alcohol poisoning with you tho
But they don’t care that much about civilians
Like they’ll protect them if it’s within reason
dont space wolves have specially engineered livers
But they won’t go out of their way to do so
All marines do
Salamanders have skewed morals but try to protect folk
The space wolves figured out how to get around it
By poisoning it so badly it shut downs
So they can get drunk
Yeaaah
lmao
Before their organs cure said poisoning
are space marines usually just immune to drunk?
They’re immune to most poisons
Some exceptions
Mostly the factions on the tabletop
lmfao of course
The main ones concerned with civilians are the salamanders and raven guard in truth.
Whilst the rest care for humanity as a whole and care for individuals based on circumstances and culture
cant have space marines being viable now can we
i commonly hear astartes are the worst tabletop faction
That’s a good fucking joke lol
Depends on chapter and how meta you wanna be
The best marine builds have a 56% wr rn
neat
Chapters are just sub factions
whos the "worst" tabletop faction rn?
If we wana talk about shitty sub factions
Fair
GSC?
Genestealer cults
Makes sense
shame i love admech
They use shitty mining equipment for GSC
if i got an army I'd probably get admech, salamanders/ravenguard, or adsor
That shitty mining equipment cracks open armor fine tbf
also, if any one primarch was resurrected and put at the top of the imperium, who would be most likely to "fix" it
or more specifically who would be most appalled at what it's become
Lol
Horus can fix it
LET THE GALAXY BURN
Wait didn't we get some major changes since then ?
Admech has some really shitty sub factions lol
ok so like, assuming that the biggest threat to the imperium is itself and not chaos
(ik its chaos but
Not Ryza right ?
for this example lets say that chaos had been beaten back and any one primarch can be chosen to head the imperium

Luv me Ryza
who'd do the most good
Corvus
Birb
He'd totally do good
corvus is ravenguard man?
MY GUYS NAME IS LITERALLY "Crow"
Who would be the most beneficial for the Imperium, it's either Guilliman, or Dorn. As they are the one that are the most likely to take case of the Imperium instead of just doing their own stuff
Covus Corax is his name right??
Ye
no shit his name is just crow
Ferrus Manus is worse
Since his ship is called the fist of iron
And he has iron hands
And his legion was called the iron hands
Leader of the Iron Hands

Perturabo is a strong second for fixing the IoM
Lol
arent his hand's technically necradermis
Prolly
Proll yes
He’s the best option
Regent of the Imp
When he came back
or did he just fuck off on the crusades and leave us to burn
He was in a coma
Gullman is blue
We don't need that
Woke up with a Not Elf
Fuck Gulliman
All my homies hate Gulliman
i remember hearing a fellow guardsman saying that now hes busy with some great crusade
Guilliman is great
Indomitus Crusade yes
what is the indomitus crusade
Anything with the genetic material from the Emperor is a net loss for Mankind
Except maybe the Senseis
the main event in current 40k
Retaking the galaxy (or a lot of it) from the Black Crusade
ah ok
tbh i feel like the best thing that could happen would be if big e woke up
13th black crusade just to drive that point in
Yep
assuming he isnt already hed be fucking disgusted at the state of the imperium
The Emperor is pointed to not be the good guy a lot seem to think he is
Big E would just warp storm constantly
primarchs?
Magnus did everything wrong
**magnus???
The webway project is a second eye of terror
Waiting to open
Because of magnus’s fuck up
Because it’s a giant warp rift
Primarch
Magnus is the primarch of the thousand sons
Magnus is the Nerd Primarch
Etc
He’s a chaos primarch now
is he one of the 20 18 primarchs?
Yes
oh hes just a chaos primarch
i mean
im reffering to, as bricky puts is
"The Emperor made 20-
.
.
...18 primarchs"
He made 20
Who is bricky
21
A youtuber
John Warhammer
Who
22
he has the "explaining every 40k faction" vid thats like
the entry point for a lot of pol
*ppl
including me
21 primarchs because Alpharius and Omegon
22 Cause the Angel
Angel doesn’t count
Angel is a whoopsie
also so, what did magnus fuck up
A lot of things
Everything
Mostly his giant ego
the webway mostly
Everything
ok but how did he fuck up the webway
oh is that the giant warp rift big e is holding closed
He broke the extension into it on terra
Causing a flood of daemons
And a bunch of psykers to die
And a bunch of other people to die due to the actions he caused
By going "I need to tell dad" he was retarded and just tore a hole
Like a massive child
Also he damned his legion to chaos
And a Hole to open, which is kept closed by the Throne
With said action
Yes
btw are the primarchs dead??
No
Some
most
Not all of them
Others live
Just Ferrus and Alpharius
Others are chaos
Sanguinius and Curze
And the Night Lord one
Right those 2, though they are possibly still "active" or "activable"
Alpharius, Ferrus, sanguinius and curze are dead as fuck
Most are missing
Also Horus
ik abaddon and guilliman are active
With Sangui being present in the Warp and Curze having a special Crown or something
He’s just a very juiced up marine
oh he isnt?
Khan is doing Mongolian throat singing with the Drukhari
Lorgar is active ?
He says he’d get his ass destroyed by a primarch lol
Yes
wasn't sanguinus the blood angel primarch
Though he was still hiding from Crow Daddy
No
Lorgar is indeed the pope
Do birb things prolly
so, basically most loyalist primarchs are missing and thats why the imperium is so shit?
No
Well errrr I wouldn't say that's the reason
The imperium is shit for a lot of reasons
The primarchs having gone missing only accelerated the shitstorm
The Imperium is actually OK all things considered
The Imp is shit due to time that predate the Horus Heresy
And mainly the Emperor being an A hole
The fact the imperium is still standing is a miracle
"even in death i am served"
Space Marines were made to expand the imperium. They'd probably go the way of the Thunder Warriors if that'd been successful fully
The alternative isn't dying
If the imperium was gone
is there like, any daemon you could hang out with for more than 10 seconds without dying a horrible death (or worse)
Orks would prolly fill the gaps
It's having your soul nommed by Daemons
If you’re a chaos worshiper plenty
Yes
If you aren’t
but if your just like an average joe
Better get ready to get gutted
Or melted alive
Or turned into a sentient screaming crystal
is there a single daemon that like, i wouldnt have to run screaming if i saw it
No
no traitor demons?
Because they’d try to kill you
If you're average you probably were sacrified to get the Dameon out about in the first place
Daemons are part of their chaos gods
They can’t join the imperium even if they wanted to
Because the imperium would exterminate them
i mean yeah not join the imperium but
And their god wouldn’t let that happen
Legion of the Damned
Legion of the damned aren’t daemons so much as warp phenomena
Celestine is sort of like a daemon prince
like if im just on some undiscovered world away from the imperium and a daemon shows up, what is the best case scenario demon
But she’s got enough things different
Lol
Khornate
Prolly a blood letter or daemonette
Depend if we consider Imperial Daemon and what they can mean for the wider Warp denizen
They’ll still go on an absolute rampage
It goes back to the Warp right away
He beats you into a pulp and you die
^also this
If there’s nothing to anchor it
It’ll just go poof
Sounds Tzeentchi if it just leaves
i feel like maybe khorne demon is your best chance yeah
at least theyd be honorable
It knows you'll be executed for seeing it
Honorable the same way the samurai were honorable kekw
So it's just trolling
youd die in .2 seconds but u could challenge them to a fight
(It’s called getting a big kill count)
A blood letters definition of honor is very different from the modern one
It won’t ambush you but it’ll just murder the shit out of you
"i challenge you to an honorable duel!"
<insert daemon for 'ok'>
dies in .2 seconds
Basically
It wouldn’t even let you finish that statement if you were that close lol
It would just kill you
Chaos is a lot more negative in 40k
Compared to Fantasy and AoS
it would go like this
That poor horror lol
also surprised nobody comments on "BLOOD FOR THE EMPEROR! SKULLS FOR THE GOLDEN THRONE!"
I mean
thats a bit of a sus line
literally reclaimed khorne saying
The Imperium is just so close to being a Chaos Cult anyway
whats the least fucked branch of the imperium
Still give them all a knife to kill themselves
Prolly the astra telepathica or Imperial household
or some decent knight house
Maaaaybe some of the Ordos
Mostly since the custodians, sisters of silence and their servents are relatively sane
I so want a Psykana Mercy Knife in Darktide as a Force Knife
Psykana mercy blade
ah so they can self yeet if theyre boutta go boom?
It’s for commiting suicide in the event of eminent possession or worse
Some of the Ordos in the Inquisition deal with usual things
Shit like maps and charts for space travel
Ordo are the name of the Inquisition groups (Ordo Hereticus, Malleus and Xenos are the major one)
ah ok
Lol
Ordo Redactus and Ordo originatus fighting
u said new dating system and my first thought was "i guarantee finding a date is the least of an inquisitor's concern"
There have been civil wars over more stupid things tbh
like paint

Thank you Adeptus mechanicus
Very cool
Very cool
Comissar Trast discovering an stc that could revolutionize the assembly line
Only for it to take hundreds of years
And a civil war to implement

How do space marine vehicle crews fit in the tanks
Sucking in their gut
Vehicles aren’t to scale on the tabletop
Or rather they aren’t in the same scale as the mini
They take a deep breath
Especially during the heresy when they could take superheavies like baneblades and it's variants mostly shadowsword and storm blade
Not to scale
Stuff like the fellblade is massive AF that can fit
Some vehicles could be crewed by serfs and attendants in the heresy also
That’s what the baneblade is iirc in the HH
They were allowed to do that before
It’s crewed by mortals
40k needs more stupid vehicles like bring back the gigantic land fortresses they had for epic
Capitol imperialis?
Also no one brings those big vehicles or buys them for 40k
Ngl
Yeah but the only downside is that one is like so big warlords can fit in the barrels
There's a site for British Warhammer titan owners and they do like huge titan march dioramas and its crazy
they also play Adeptus Titanicus but in 40k scale
Kinda like Titanicus player
like how do you even play it
The titanicus tabletop game is pretty playable
Assuming you don’t use actual fucking Titan minis
Lol
Titanicus scale is way cooler like at most the warmaster is a lil shorter than a knight
Much more dense though like
Epic was fun
I want this but two fists
Lol almost hit report post on the dire wolf
I imagine it like a pack leader that comes in as the enemy is flanked and just fires at whatever is there
So you have your squad of 4 warhounds with a dire wolf as the lead tank
The reaver is so unused already so why not bully the poor thing
Play the rift runners so you can teleport a titan mid battle
Yeeeeeeh
How good is a warlord with two power claws anyway, the titan sized one
is that some kind of up armed warhound?
Yeah, Dire Wolf.
It's funny that the regular eldar as well as the dark eldar use monofilament weapons frequently, for reference that's a gun that's basically weaponizing sticky traps for mice where they eat off their hands and stuff when stuck
Just something so brutal and sized up to at most wraithknight sized
Monofilament weapon aren't sticky traps, they are microscopic thread that cut the victime
think mini Predator razor nets
Think of it like the Springrazor in Dishonored
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1KpPtqlnp0&ab_channel=meanderingSnake
On a high chaos play-through you have to kill absolutely everyone.
Or this from the opening of Cube
Dark Eldar tend to use splinter weapons, they can still kill someone but their aim is to take you in alive if they can so its mostly horrific-but-alive injuries for the most part
Honestly I had the "monomolecular" weaponry so many factions use but something 1 molecule thick would be so useless for cutting
It would bend and fold itself the second it came in contact with anything thicker than air, or if it's moving fast enough even air would be enough to bend it
That are also poisoned.
Its basically the writers not knowing how science works
necrons use so many dumb mumbo-jumbo terms about space physics but i doubt any of the people writing the codex know what any of it means
The issue with a grand unified sci-fi setting is that you have to understand a lot of things, but the people who want to write a grand unified sci-fi setting understand none of the things
A lot of 40k is just embracing the over the top silliness.
I mean that works though, Dune used the same trick where they explained advanced technology by introducing a scientific law we don't know about yet so it wouldn't be disproven 20 years in the real world future or broken down by a 14 year old with autism
i think a lot of that is alleviated if you just view it as space fantasy rather than sci-fi
I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Kinda, it can get a bit stupid lmao
contra-immaterial nodal matrix
4th parallel pocket dimensions
miniaturized macro-vortex engines
i just kinda tune it out after that point
And yeah this
40k is fantasy that is sci-fi
its got sci-fi elements but, yeah, dont worry about it too much
40k is fantasy pretending to be sci-fi, Elder Scrolls is sci-fi pretending to be fantasy
the duality of nerds
Destiny Moment
Still reeling from the fact that magicka is just the background radiation from the big bang that is being harnessed by specially adapted organisms
40k could never
nice, didnt know thatg about elder scrolls
Yeah, Elder Scrolls goes really hard on it's magic system and how all the planets/planes/collective unconsciousness intermingle
if you figure out you are in a game in elder scrolls you basically become a god
so is lord commissar the highest rank a commissar can achieve?
Effectively yes, the commisars, much like the inquisition, dont really do ranks very well
ah
Theyre not military
yeah they are like the USSR commissars, political soldiers
Yeah pmuch
They exist to maintain moral and discipline
Typically, this is maintained by shooting disobedient soldiers
Most commisars dont make it past their first engagement
Usually dying to the lasfire of the soldiers their meant to maintain
This is the general rank for commissars
Commissar-General is the rarest usually
Smart commisars, like cain, quickly figure out how to inatil discipline without making guard regements want to shoot you back
They’ve addressed it in some recent books. The young commissars fresh out the schola are the ones that act like the meme. The older ones that are more experienced understand that a little diplomacy and second chances can go a very long way.
Yurp
i see
Im sure its only mentioned like 3-4 times in lore
oh so are the penal legions part of the astra militarium or purely under the command of the commiserate?
"human bomb squad"
Technically a part of the Militarum
yep that's 40k
YEP
They removed those units mostly from lore
they had miniatures too
but uh... you know, touchy subject

cyborg berserker squad
also FYI Custodian is the name for the overseers, names just overlap because the writers suck
of course
so the 4 main types of penal legion forces are "meat shields for the cannon fodder" "expendable assault fodder" "suicide bombers" and "half-crazed half-robot murder hobos"
Pretty much
but this is like very detailed stuff gathered from books/RPG material.
Official lore will simplify the hell out of it.
ofc
hell, how many bodies does the imperium need to throw in the meat grinder? the simple answer is yes it seems
a single guard regiment can be upto 250k men right? i feel like that number increases rapidly once said regiment gets to a warzone
man, the imperium really is the skaven under-empire of 40k
just bury their foes in a tide of fodder
Yeah but in most of the books they’re outnumbered.
So the contrast becomes comical.
lmao
Whats a knight
Giant mech that are smaller than titans
Mech walkers piloted by a single pilot. The pilots are organized in to feudal knight houses.
Knight lore is my specialty.
Sorta, it’s armor is about the same but it gets a giant gun on its back
Which is why it’s side guns are smaller
If the imperium's enemies are plenty, and the battle is usually a losing and outnumbered one. Is that why we have commissars?
against normal things, the imperium is rarely outnumbered
Against nids, chaos, orks, the occasional dhrukari, necrons
Commissars are there to maintain morale among the soldiers. It’s a necessary thing in the setting when you have average people being thrown in to battle against things like nids and chaos marines who can tear apart a normal person in very gory ways.
I was thinking about Webber guns
Understandably, they will be scared.
They're nonlethal monofilament gund
Only humans use those
even then i wouldnt call them non-lethal
The harder a victim struggles, the tighter the web becomes, and if the victim continues to struggle the web can eventually crush them to death.
net goblin noises intensify
they should add beastmen to darktide and 40k novels in general it would be nice to see em get some love
i mean as enemies and playeable class
There the tzaangors and the flesh tearers book says the WE and Khorne warband utilize khorngors.
Man that struck nostalgia hard
there is probably pestigors and slaangors around in 40k as well
Considering they brought back Tzaangor's i think all beastmen are getting back from the lost and the damned book
Also very probable considering we already had beastmen enemies, and the 40k ones could work just as well as hybrid enemy units (considering their models come mostly armed with autopistols and swords)
You can see this style of skull on certain armors but it made me think, the skulls that look like this, the kinda weird distended upper jaw and teeh curved like that makes me think they're like vat grown or produced while the skulls seen on enemies is definitely real skulls
Remember not all skulls are real skulls... Unless it's the skull throne but that's kinda implied
But fake skulls > real in value
That specific skull is part of the crux terminatus which isn't made of bone
I mean I'm thinking more of the stuff on the mortis outfits
Also I would just give it "artistic license" for not having a realistic skull just like how guns and giant shoulder pauldrons don't make sense
And some of the stuff you unlock
Or unless your group does things with skulls like dip them in gols
Gold* that's what the sons of Horus did
I mean people in warhammer sure love reusing the dead in general
I remember seeing a piece on a servo skull that was from a deathwatch marine and it's so big they can fit every sensor under the sun
Now I want to see some kind of giant servo skull made from ogryn skulls
Also I'm wondering if when a chapter goes traitor the deathwatch remove the pauldron from use in displays etc
They usually become blackshields
Because in deathwatch art there's a wall of pauldrons from each chapter
The ones in the deathwatch
Yeah that probably gets removed when one goes traitor
Imagining servitors unbolting it from the wall and not there to pull it down so it just falls and crushes one of them
Just like how chapter names and heraldry get jumped between chapters when they go traitor/die out
Since Ultima founding brought back a few chapters I think just soul drinkers that were deleted I'm surprised they didn't do stuff like the Firehawks but for ones that sacrificed like the one that destroyed the world engine they didn't get primaris out of respect
Didn't a couple of them survive the world engine thing?
Maybe? Idk
Wait I'll check
I'd say no
Yep, a bunch are alive and captained by a dreadnought
Apparently they went on eternal crusade mode and their fortress monastery was given to the Sable swords
As these marines were still stationed at the fortress during the world engine extravaganza
Cool
Here's the art I was thinking of when I thought of them removing one of the pauldrons
Don't focus on the incorrectly drawn ultramarine logo like I am

I was more focused on the chapter with just a grey aquila as their symbol over black
There's three of those
Two blood angels logos, many that are just skulls, one is a skull with down syndrome
I think there's a duplicate of the blue aquila
Hey at least they got the red scorpions and minotaurs correct
Howling griffons and blood angels too
it's a shame becuase if you don't look closely that's a really cool piece of artwork for 40k
BEHOLD, the old salamanders resin heresy shoulder pads
Look at that poor salamander
Rolled out like dough
I mean the old salamanders color scheme goes right along with it
The Dot chapter
Yeah but it just looks dopey especially compared to the new mk vi ones that actually look good
The one next to the statues left leg is the salamanders but it's just ▶️
I mean, there's many old models that looked cool for the time but now the new models simply blow them out of the water
Yeah definitely when they did 40k salamander stuff that's good but ofc it's oop
Loyalist word bearer design
Covenant of fire, salamanders successors
Ultima founding, aka just mix whatever you can find and see the results
I like it
Makes sense, sons of the Phoenix and dark kraken are cool
Kinda weird the soul drinkers are the only known chapter with weird modifications and mutations? (Black dragons but this is more obvious) Like given the iron hands love for mechanicus stuff there isn't someone on an spider thing
Like this guy
It's a scorpion but fuck you
The second one is not a Space Marine
i swear guys we are still totally human: the admech to the rest of the imperium
also i just noticed the Stygiss 7 robe
He's not but insert marine instead of him
leutin is hinting that the emperor will awaken soon as a chaos god
we just need to keep feeding him psykers
That's because if you have large mutations 9 out 10 times you get Redacted pretty fast, especially if it's a new chapter, and even then mutation may damage the gene-seed and make it not usable at all.
For the mechanicus spider leg thing, remember that 1st off not every mechanicus affiliated guy despises flesh and 2nd at that point if I have to remove 3/4 of a marine body to give it spider legs ill just throw it in a dread and call it a day
And well, Sarpedon's spider legs may just as easily be due to having death with a Tzneetchian Daemon Prince for some time
quick dumb question, who like, rules over a regiment in the astra miltiarum? lik uhhh, what rank would it ot be in charge of the 114th waht ever the fuck regiment?
Wouldn't it be like a high commissar? Is that a thing?
Lord General/Lord Commander command basically entire armies on an entire front
But usually a single regiment is led by a Colonel and multi regimental forces by generals
Colonel at regiment level I think
Also regimental numbers can vary wildly between regiments and the fact 40k numbers don't make sense
Commissar don't lead, they advise (apart from some famous exceptions..)
Commissar are essencialy human equivalent of Chaplains, they keep morale high, no matter the cost
Lmao thank you, i was so confused lmao
While that would be interesting, I doubt they would go that route. I don't think they're going to touch Mr. Plot-Device anytime soon, instead keeping him on the dge of possibly being something else, or reawakening, etc
It’s Xana 2 akshully
oh lol
The guy is one of 2 named characters for the mechanicum in 30k
He’s also one of few non primarchs who can fight and kill a primarch on the tabletop
neat
42
Ok so why are Salamanders said to like burning Eldar children? That really doesn’t sound like them.
vulcan did
once
and regreted it afterwards
it was due to night lords being cunts
it's a shitty meme pretty much
when ever someone mentions vulcan being nice or salamanders being nice people always just "bUt He KiLleD aN eLdAr ChIlD"
and thanks to that one event his whole chapter is memed to death as extreme xenophobes lol
which is funny becuase the black templars exist
yup
also the stuff about the salamanders being the chapter that cares about normal humans the most, where does that come from and isnt it the ultramarines that have made the only real peaceful region of space in the whole galaxy?
salamanders will actively go out of their way to protect civilians, more so then ultramarines
iirc back before they found vulcan a lot of salamanders would die becuase they would take such heavy loses trying to protect people (more or less)
i see
they also are able to stay in contact with their families unlikc 99% of other chapters
iirc there is a primaris saly thats know for being really ends justify the means about his protection of civilians
which is pretty neat
Its one of the few memes thats basically spiraled out of control yeah
people now think all Salamanders wanna kill eldar children kek
TTS didnt help
oh right
who makes those videos with the salamander and the marine malevolence mini?
no clue
I just said this
and someone in memes is already making the joke
just proving my point
it's the same guy
pain
lmao
Yeah I just never got the joke but hey a joke is a joke
But now reading about it now I just feel bad
This is what those ash waste big things look like to me
I want them to be big and poofy
In their defense, it’s a well founded dislike. Imagine having a town next over that is a rapist slaving sadist society. Now imagine it occasionally does raids on your town. Imagine the opinions that may bring.
...they were exodites
and literally doing nothing
Oh, thought they were dark eldar
Nah, it was just exodites chilling and the humans venerating them, there was no conflict.
