From top to bottom:
Grendel
Brahm and Rannick
Zola
Morrow
Hadron
Melk
Pilot
Guards on ship
Us
PDF
She is still in the chain of command like Enginseer in the IG
Melk is over morrow, considering melk works with auric class and morrow with the rejects
Melk the task giver ?
isn't Morrow over Zola?
he work with both as an ancillary
Yeah Melk is pretty senior. Not that inquisitor warbands have that kind of chain really
Melk responds directly to Grendel or grendyl I dunno doesn't he?
Zola is the 2nd after Rannick
And wasn't hadron also directly employed by him
Like, lore wise is Melk the one giving the missions we do
It's just that he fucking despises us and morrow during the "traitor arc"
Considering we were it's last option for the signal mission
But is Morrow under his order or are they both on the same level ? Like both being Primes of for different Warbands
Like Under Zola
I think they command two different sections, with Melk working with Auric Class Operatives and Morrow working with the Rejects
Melk just has the added job of being the guy that gives you the job for today
I thought Zola was under Morrow
So like this:
Grendel
Brahm and Rannick
Zola
Morrow and Melk
Hadron
Pilot
Guards on ship and Auric Class
Us/Rejects
PDF
Zola is an Explicator, they are the 2nd level away from being Inquisitors iirc
Wrong words used
Ohhh
Explicator are higher than most
Yep, I noticed after that I worded it wrong
It's High Inqui
Inqui
Interrogator->Rannick
Explicator->Zola
Technically that would put Melk and Morrow as Primes
Would make sense
Hadron would not be in the real command chain but be equal to a Throne Agent i suppose
Melk too could be considering he's the one that gives us the message to send out in signal
If Melk is the "leader" of the Auric Class I'd put him higher
Though we don't really know enough about the Auric class to be certain
Maybe their Primes are someone else that work with Melk in the same way us and Morrow do
They literally are the guys standing guard in the ship
Or the ones you see in the reinforcement missions end cutscenes
Technically speaking, it's also us after the level 30 cutscene
They also apparently have a tendency to drop like flies because otherwise who would send the rejects to do the work
Us being part of the Warband doesn't mean we are Auric class
Like the Auric class could be a separate Warband with more reputable agents, like Scions and stuff
While we would become the Reject Warband
The warband is just one in this particular setting
But yeah, no matter the rank they still are simply the guys that die before we go on their missions to win them
Rejects walking around Auric Class Operatives muttering "Skill Issue"
In the opening the female officer asked for Kaskrin reinforces for the Prison Ship wouldnt that mean they got some in the sector which would be pretty heavy
Ah yes this sentence was it sry
easy mistake
If Grendyl were to enlist the forces of a Xenos ally in Tertium, a common practice among radical Inquisitors, what faction you think/you want?
None
Imagine Hadron being forced to work with a Jokaero
Radical means going outside the normal means to fight Chaos
No
sure
I dont get why so many want Xeno forces and SM
Radical mean using unorthodox means to fight the enemies of mankind
Some use chaos against chaos
Everyone has thier favourite Factions
what the fuck do you think unorthodox means?
Others use exterminatus against xenos like it is a light thing to use
and then themselves get inquisited
Radical doesn't mean using xenos
But it can
^
In fact the use of psykers against chaos is already a radical thing
Can be sure, but not a guaranteed thing
The only xenos you could get away with using in a meat grinder like Tertium.. maybe kroot.
At least the use it is done in DT
They wouldn't like it cos nothing is edible
Kroot have nothing to gain in tertium yeah, they have as rule to not eat chaos followers corpses
Aeldari, Ork Freebootas, Votann Kin
An inquisitor couldn't really send Aeldari on missions, even if they did form an alliance.
Freebootas would be hilarious
How do Kroot feel about eating Genestealers?
Nah not the kroot
@floral siren instinctively know its not ok
wouldnt be surprised if they turned on the fire teams and PDF to eat
Shame to waste all those dead bodies lying around
The dialogues would be hilarious tho
Kroot is definitely out, just looked it up and the Shapers expressly forbid Genestealers
Tyranids of all kinds are inedible
None of these make sense
I really don't care about your opinion on this Silver
That still doesn't change that they don't make sense
And it is not my opinion, but lore
your opinion on lore, but most of your contributions in this chat have just been unneeded
Again, not my pinion, but objective lore, and it seems to be needed way more than initially thought
Silver is valid in this chat tho
There won't be Xenos because they don't serve in the Inquisition in high numbers, and they don't really get taken prisoner in the Penal system like we do
'purge the xeno' isn't a suggestion...
That doesn't mean there isn't other means that future character options will be added
Like, a Jokaero could be a handwavium way of adding fancier tech to the game
As they have no real limits
Also
lore wise, those xenos on an imperial hive world would NOT meet the Inquisition... it's not even the role of the Inquisition
This was a hypothetical have fun with it question, not a "I need to clarify the difference between unorthodox and outside normal means"
Kroot has been already explained why not
Eldar wouldn't be sent facing chaos in missions like the ones we do
Ork is not used in civilised battleground like atoma is
Kin will not serve for an inquisitor as agent, as merc they could work for a single campaign, but again, not in a place like atoma
no xenos!
kill them all
would be the attitude on a shit-kicker war band brig like our boat
Suffer not the mutant, the Xeno, the Heretic
Eldar 100% would get involved in Tertium if they saw it as a crucial part of a larger problem
Sure, but wouldn't work with us.
Depends on Grnedyl
Grendyl*
Ravenor had Dire Avengers accompany him on a mission before, it comes down to how the Eldar trust the Inquisitor in charge
Atoma Prime goes back to the dark age of humanity, who knows what old secrets are under it, you can write up any reason you want for Xenos involvement under the hive
Plenty of requested thing can already be brought without changing the story, so lets do those before
Allied, not cannon fooder like we are
I'm part of the Warband now, dunno about you
Still canon fooder for the Inquisition and a low ranking member
You're still cannon fooder

The moment you are part of the warband, but you are still the one sent to get special ammo for mortis operative (higher rank than you still) 😔
If we ever become of "vaule" for the inquisition which I kinda doubt its gonna be a long way or we perform very well to get even noticed im the bigger picture as Operatives
Cause all we do is hit and run
Phase 1 typa shit
I do wonder if like phase 2 starts at level 30 as an Auric class..
Or the moment when even when not being part of the warband you are sent to a complex to send a message because the brass don't trust other people on the ship (which would also include auric and mortis operatives)
No more shit missions for you, now you get the Real mission hub
Even at the highest level for the Inquisition everyone is expendable often
^
A very important message btw
@crimson kayak Right we forgot about the Mortis Operatives, must be higher than Auric Class
Maybe
It’s hard to say since we know almost nothing of them
Besides they’re some kinda special little club within the Warband
Mortis are literally only mentioned in that one dialogue as far as I'm aware
Whats the difference about them equipment, training, experience or what? Probaly higher trust level to a degree
Main problem is that these are all new terms for the lore so it's kinda hard to place them
Might even be multiple Warband
It’s like a lot of 40k stuff, there’s a lot to things which literally only exist in one book
And we don’t get much to go on
Don't think so, they look more like ranks within our warband
Phase 2 could be that a main strike forces with multiple ships arrive in the System and that we go on all out war against the 6th and Nurgel corruption
Yes but each Warband would be under the order of one of the Primus (For us Morrow, Auric having possibly Melk)
So being separate thing/group all together
Remember that it's not the whole moebian 6th regiment on atoma but only a few brigades as far we Know
couldn't a high ranking Inquisitor take control of all Warbands if needed
Uh
Grendel is a high Inquisitor
Oh
He does already have multiple forces under his command
It's just that we are the only one in the sector
Or well, the general area of atoma
Inquisitors can't really order each around. Takes a whole conclave to try and overrule
We don't really have any idea what Grendyl is doing in the big picture.
didn't know his rank sry
We just know that for now we are stuck alone and without much in terms of supplies, also as usual the Moebian governor is really good at covering up the situation
Considering that apparently, except us and the pdf responding to the threat, no one else seems to know what's going on with the plague if we follow the vox transmissions
Just like how only Moebian soldiers and high ranks know what's really going on in the Fringe Worlds
So basically just a another day in the Imperium
Like Atoma isn't the planet in the worst situation atm, like not even in the top 100 of the worst
And that's not even accounting for the other side of the Cicatrix
Who knows what's going on there yet
5 Aquilas say another Primarch has reemerged on that side and is waging a crusade in a very different way to the Indomitus one
Quick question, can warp travel "miss" it's target? Not like lost in the warp but just getting out in the wrong spot
Yes
Also, we saw examples of people traveling forward in time during a warp jump, did the contrary ever happen and someone from 40k got back in time? Is it even possible?
Yes
Neat
Time travel does exist
Yes, I didn't knew to what extent it was shown
Obviously it was an ork
We do have a titan game
Don't know how good it is
But I guess it's the closest to Canon I can give you
If its any less cool than this one, then I prefer this one in the vid
Because damn
I get chills
Okay, actual lore question. Was there ever any blood angel that managed to come back from the black rage APART from their Librarian leader ?
we know titans have warhorns and they like blaring them but don't think there's any canon interpretation
Okay, then thats my new headcanon then
unless did the Horus Heresy trailer have any horns in it? Can't recall
I dont think it did
But regarding this. I hear Mephiston mentioned alot for coming back from the black rage multiple times and possibly being the empires current strongest psyker
But is there anyone apart from him in the blood angels that managed to come back from the black rage ?
Just checked the sound in Titanicus, it's very similar but higher pitched, like a truck horn on steroids
No he’s the only one
And technically the original person mephiston was is gone as well
Elaborate pls
Its more symbolic than literal. His original name was Calistarius. Then he fell to the Black Rage, but by sheer force of will he forced himself back to sanity.
Imperial Ships need ship cats. >.>
They probably have them
Yet their never described. xD
I dunno.
I'd think the presence of cats would make everything better.
I'd say it's up to the ship captain and whether the crew are willing to bring one aboard
Well there'd probably need to be a few thousand ship cats. xD
But yeah.
We do know cats exist
Although the issue of the cats being eaten is probably there lol
Was literally gonna say lmao
The safest place for cats would just be a admiral’s office
dogs are superior to cats, Unless they are C.A.T.S.
Heresy. No one could eat a cat. That's bad luck. >.>
Protein is protein
"As of M42, CATs had been in service with both bodies for several centuries, or even millennia, although the Mechanicum and the Astartes prefer the versatility and expertise of a servitor or a Scout, respectively. Nevertheless, constructing CATs is a popular hobby for Mechanicus Adepts and Techmarines, who claim that the activity is a useful meditative exercise, and CATs are frequently underfoot at any shrine to the Omnissiah.[1b]
In fact, some suspicious members of the Inquisition have observed that their creators seem to treat their CATs almost like pets, though the Mechanicum claims to be above such emotional attachments"
I will say though that eating a cat is a big old waste of time and besides desperation or lack of access to other sources, doing it is pretty silly irl
Not much meat
1b is emperor's finest, by sandy mitchell
then theres the fact that mr whiskers is going to put up a fight no one wants to do
What about Cyber Mastiffs?
cyber mastifs are superior to C.A.T.s
Didn't Dante also manage to resist the black rage in Devastation of Baal?
I had to look up the name. Lemartes also has the Black Rage but is mostly sane. He didn't "recover", but he's much more lucid than most
The Exodite series on Warhammer Plus and the recent trailer for the Horusy Heresy tabletop both feature sounds of Titans I'd call canon

More a joke than a actual statement
Watch massive armies fight, the Warmaster live up to his title, and a spaceship obliterate a Titan in this latest Warhammer cinematic trailer.

Both symbolically and mentally the person mephiston used to be is dead
People who knew him before his transformation don’t recognize him as the same person at all
Aside from appearance
At best it changed him so much he isn’t recognizable anymore
was the same the first time he came back from the black rage?
or both?
i'm not asking that
im asking did he change each time he came back through the black rage since he has done it twice
No
what about the other guy who survived the black rage
also isnt he just some random blood angel too
not infamous like mephiston
Lemartes?
no Rafen
I do not know who that man is
isn't he like old 40k lore
neither do any of the other BA writers
no
he's not even that old
his lore is just uh
of questionable quality
Ah yes a blood angels civil war
There's a lot of people who say Dante didn't get the black rage in Devastation of Baal but considering he literally started referring to himself as Sanguinius for a bit I'm going to say he did
he never succumbed
I mean he seemed worse off than Lemartes tbh, except for that bit where Lemartes needs to be sedated so he doesn't teamkill
Well, it’s pretty old
Coming up on 20 years for some of the books
Be brave GW, kill off the CMs of notable chapters and create room for new heroes
I forgot does Belakor actually do anytning in 40k? Is he bullying abaddon like how he bullies archaon
I know house raven, which im pretty sure he does fucking nothing with it
Well I mean taking over an entire knight world and house is a pretty big deal
But that’s most characters rn
We get a small update on what they’ve been up to
And that’s it for now
I believe he’s planning something against Abaddon and wouldn’t be shocked if he shows up in the Ark books
I wanna say he may have already gotten a mention
Calgar has a model and they won't kill Cato so
That said they should kill literally every UM that isn't a major named character
so like...Agemann and most of the Company Captains not named Ventris
boom the illusion of consequences
without getting in the way of model based immortality
Yeah, characters with new primaris models would stay. But having chapters lose characters and replaced with new ones would help lose the sense of invulnerability
They have killed off several notable chapter’s masters it’s just the chapter masters themselves weren’t super notable
TBH narratively calgar should be dead three times over
That being said I could see them killing Grimnar
he's extremely pointless now that Guilliman is back
but he's immortal because model
Like, there's Captain whocares the Primaris of the UM 2nd, so that guy's probably safe
Hasn't it been hinted that Grimnars axe is.....tainting him. Unless I've been led astray
Sounds like you don’t know many of their characters tbh
There’s plenty of awesome UM characters
lol
Hell Calgar’s comic is one of the better pieces of 40k media in recent years
Makes him likeable
Dark Angels could also do with some notable character trimming
So would that be the generics haunting Cato Sicarius in his novels, the riffraff from their 5e codex
Raven guard could use new character
the extras from the ventris novels so forgettable one literally caught a missile, crashed and died in a short story as an afterthought with no real consequences or
Only shrike has been around
And.....oh I forget the FW model
I'd settle for Raven Guard getting some screentime without the writers doing an Istvaan reenactment
Blood angels plot armour trio of dante, mephisto and astroth
The Raven Guard and White Scars could do with some screen time where they aren't playing back up
TBF those have narrative reasons to exist re :bangels
Dante's immortality has plot relevance and he is needed as the archetype
Return the doomrider
Mephiston is there to be a narrative timebomb
Astorath...yeah could kill him
that said blood angels are on their like
third near extinction
maybe 4th
so they're honestly fine
UM are the ones that need a calth reenactment
Torias, Tigurius, Uriel, Titus are the main ones who come to mind as pretty great characters.
Off the top of my head.
Tigurius is a rare case of GW actually being interesting with psyker abilities and specialization.
Titus literally got shoved into the noncanon box for most of his history
Yeah titus was chad
Tiguuirus exists because the UM need a designated wizard
could headpop him and no real loss to any narratives
Titus and cassius
Chronus
Those three won't die and will likely get new models in time ofc mephiston already has one
I suspect the same for the DA; aside from Azrael, I presume Belial, Sammuel and Asmodai
Yea that nonsense blue custard
Dark Angels have built-in story generation
(whether you approve or not depends on how oversaturated you think Fallen plotlines are......)
Point is they don't need a mass cull because the stakes are inherent to their concept
Meanwhile imperial fists chapter masters drop like flies
oh lord the poor poor fists
And captains
Lydander remains tho
The Fists arguably literally stopped existing
but yes Fists really need more narrative love
And their stubborn attitude kinda justifies the losses
Minecraft and 40k are the same universe. I will not elaborate.
Crimson Fists are basically just Rynn's World
Would be nice to see some more Iron hands and Salamander characters get models
I'd really like a Stronos model
But GW has proved they're doing both, its been established for years that Marines pay the bills and let everyone else get releases which aren't as much guaranteed money.
Its not like when we get a marine model we lost a potential chaos one or whatever.
Its also why I doubt we're gonna get a Stronos model or whatever any time soon since Iron Hands specific stuff hasn't been shown to be profitable sadly.
We get the Ferrios model not too long ago and I'm not expecting much for awhile.
But its pretty obvious they're just slowly making their way through a lot of the factions which need updating
Emperor's Children I would guess are a couple years away or less.
Honestly after Emperors children odds are we aren’t getting any more full codexes for chaos legions
Maybe a supplement like they did for LSM
But those are from 8e now lul
We'll probably get a Honsou model I suspect, maybe with a McNeil book
Odds are we’ll just get named characters from the other traitor legions yeah
If they eventually get to Perturabo as a model, maybe.
Haarken
Lol
Black legion are the ultramarines of chaos
They’re the poster boys
At the end of the day, Iron Warriors are similar to the Iron Hands
No one really cares
We're a minority
Yeah
You'll get one character maybe one day and you'll like it
Still shocked they made a proper Iron Hands character model
Besides csm already get a lot more love then a lot of other factions
And thats he's actually cool and an interesting dude
Poor dark eldar lol
Almost all the haemonculi stuff is resin
And half of it isn’t sold at the same time
That being said they do have some really good recent updates
speaking of. any other big name characters among that faction besides Vect?
Fuck whats his name
Leilith, that haemonculi guy I forgot
also Drazhar
And the Mandrake dude
If i had to pick character for chaos sm id want doomrider to make reappearance
Wouldn't be shocked if they do a LE of him
TBH the pipe dream is shoulderpad/bits upgrades and some side rules for undivided
Agreed
after the world eater shitshow even that seems optimistic
Eh
I think a Lucius update is what's probably coming, along with a Fulgrim model.
Never had so much alien blood drenched the arena. How could this be followed? The crowd cried out for more. There could be no end to the spectacle now. Then Lelith herself strode into the arena. The crowd hushed at the very sight of her beauty and elegance. Her flesh bared as if to taunt the blade to draw her blood. Her hair loose as if to tempt...
There’s 0 chance there’s not gona be a new Lucius mode
oh yeah def
Yes her
His model is literally older than me
Not a great sculpt lol
dated
And I'm almost 26
The paint job isn’t helping either lul
TBH I kinda doubt EC will get a new, say, Eidolon after what happened with WE
Honestly I feel like GW rushed out WE
rushed is a best case
I mean they got a primarch
Imo Covid fucked up their plans
I have no idea what the logic was
For codexes in the first place
Like holy shit you still sell kits for the stuff you deleted
what on earth were they smoking
I would give that like
White dwarf took their unique rules
A couple months
so yeah the wych cults are literally just the witch elves of 40k lol
They were excluded from the csm book
Basically
Some differences
And now they’ve lost the ability to be with imperial stuff with cypher lul
But a lot of similarities
I would honestly not be shocked if we get a Fallen update here soon
Maybe
If the Lion really is coming back
Still weird to me cypher is csm only lol
Not 100% but it definitely would make sense
yeah
Lion wakes from catnap
Considering he hasn’t worked with csm since pre gathering storm
Kicks wall down
Asmodai’s appearance in tts isn’t even a charicature
He’s more insane then that
In lore lul
Yea
He's not quite as extreme as TTS but he's close
As he is not let known that cipher has visited rock multiple times
really? i honestly thought that was just TTS being funny like they did to Cato
Its not quite the same but he's very very like nuts
In personality he’s def more extreme in tts
But he feels more insane in the actual lore
i see
"How the fuck im supposed to get info of fallen when their heads crack from 50 strikes of my maul"
Since he just does and says some things that pretty much
Yeah
But, he's just a clutch master
You drop him on a losing battle and he finds a way to turn it around
Which is why they keep him around
He's a huge detriment often when he's not in battle
But he's so damn useful in it that it works out
so your classic "lose cannon that is almost impossible to control but way to useful to get rid of" kind of character
Azrael gets almost killed by chaos lord? Asmodai comes swinging and sends chaos lord flying
Basically
I think it was a dif interrogator chapalain
Siege of vraks
I remember it being him
It was one from dark angel successor later
Arkos I think
I don't think Asmodai was at Vraks
Too busy beating prisoners i bet
I think Azrael got saved by Deathwing too
I specifically remember it being chaplain who saved him
fun fact Arkos is still alive
But maybe my memory is at fault
and even got a shout out in HH
It’s a rumor, nothing to say if it’s true or not
Iirc theres been a few vague comments by writers here and there but his sexuality has never been mentioned or confirmed in any books
It’s usually a topic they don’t get in to that often anyway. Here and there some characters hook up or mention a romantic attachment.
sigh time for the chart with almost no pixels
Oh hey nevermind I found a version with actual resolution
Weirdly specific online myth lmfao
I think my favorite thing on this chart is "character reassigned due to not being lgbt"
Also flesh and steel is a great book
The farsight book has a one off mention as well with the psyker lady writing notes to her female lover.
Anyway the reason I don't like the "space marines have no sexual interests" thing is because Dark Angels recruiting mainly from queer men and having a Sacred Band of Thebes motif would be dope as hell
I mean I think it makes it all the more tragic
The fact that marines are people before and turned into living weapons
Even if they did have the urges they'd work hard to suppress them through fighting and meditation anyway.
Me when horrific biological modification and mental conditioning strips a person of all their self
Turning them into a shell of their former self
Admittedly I don't really care overly much about any sort of romance or sexual interest in my 40k novels regardless of who the characters are interested with. I just want to see cool sci-fi battles with brutal murder or characters like Cain who add some levity and humor to offset the horror.
I don't know, I like the more human presentation of Marines. Loken's lack of interest in women felt pretty real, because he clearly finds them interesting, he just feels like he's too focused to really consider any kind of romantic interest.
I mean HH marines
Were more human
Post HH the psycho conditioning got turned way up
I'm not really saying that I want a Space Marine romance or giant sweaty sex scene, I just think it would be a great avenue for flavoring some chapters or individual marines
Fair
They still manage to add some humanized aspects to marines. Like Fabian and his Space Marine bodyguard Lucerne.
The two are totally bros.
Isnt the whole romance or the whole sexuality thing kind of pointless anyway in a Uniserve were thousands die a day like kinda unimportant aint it
Not really. For the average guardsmen or soldier, fighting for their beloved is a powerful motivator.
Honestly some of my favorite characters in the setting are the ones who date, because it's just a fun way to have characters interact with one another
Especially the women in the Cain books, I don't know if I like Felicia or Magot more
Fabius is pre heresy as is his bodyguard
Not fabius
Fabian Guilphrain in the Dawn of FIre series.
Fabian and Lucerne are totally bros despite Fabian being a human and Lucerne a space marine. They crack jokes, banter with each other, etc.
Total bros.
Eisenhorn also had that Rogue Trader who gave off the vibe he was sexually attracted to his ship, which was just so stupidly fun in a pretty bleak book
Fair point just thought cause the SM and being Asexual thing came up
It's also in character for someone like Cain to do that tbh
Internal consistency with the characters do matter after all.
Honestly fighting for your loved ones has always been at the core of human emotions and motivations
And it def applies in 40k despite how bleak and hopeless it is
Hmmm, a Great War causing people to be scared shitless causing people to significantly increase the indoctrination of the military? Unlikely!

One of the key points of old 40k
I also think it's hilarious how dirty big E did Erda
And Amar Astarte.
Big E is such an asshole lol
"Hello woman who has clearly been attracted to me, would you like to have children? Specifically 21 of them. Ok, now I'm going to need a blood sample. Oh, and you aren't going to raise them because having a woman around might make them too nice. Wait, why are you mad at me?"
People whom get shit done are rarely nice
Thanks, that Main Characters section needs some expanding
The entire scattering of the primarchs is caused by a woman overreacting: great GW
Anyway Emps, Malcador and Valdor were a gay polycule and it's absurd to think of a heterosexual explanation for their behavior
It’s called being good friends
Like Cain and jurgen
Malcador lived in his house, raised his son and cried because Emps was mean to him
God was banging that old man
While that is a funny quote, that doesn’t mean it has to be true. Besides, I don’t think he would survive.

Ok Lore Chat, how hung was the Emprah at his peak?
Felicia Tayber
He was a shapeshifter. So it’s whatever he wanted.
I am pretty sure he can be as hung as he wants to be.
Don't matter what kind of girl he hangs out with
he can adjust his Big E to whatever he wants because Emprah
For a man constantly obsessed about making the perfect humans and those perfect humans being often time beautiful jacked men....... You sure it's girls?
He needed to create weapons. He had 2 options, one of them objectively superior for combat applications as a base and not required for reproduction in the same way as the other option. Of course Astartres/Primarchs were male, don't turn it into something it into something it isn't.
he wanted perfect warriors for his war effort
We do know there Sensei, which would be natural descendent of the Emperor
It's most likely that the Emp is not too picky anyway, like most people in ancient times were less regarding on sexual orientation
whatever you wanted*
If Titus was gay he would be called tite ass
Why has no one written a book about how Iskandar Khayon brought Magnus the Red to his knees through superior psychic might?
It's mentioned in Talon of Horus but it's never spoken about in any detail
It's such an awesome thing and there's no lore about it at all
Possiby the next Black Legion book.
But there's a long way to go for that plotline.
so didnt the dragon emperor pull the asteroid down that made the maw specifically to stop the ogre raids on cathay?
i guess giving the brutes a brand new god wasnt in the all knowing sky lizard's plan lol
The lore implies it was the Cathayan astromancera that did it at his behest but its never said outright
Also the plan mostly worked, the ogres just migrated to bother other places to instead of JUST Cathay
Still think that the Great Maw is just a Power spot and not a Tyr infaction
Like the Galleon's Graveyard for the Wind of Death, the Great Maw would be it for the Wind of Beast
Well the Warpstone is Magic made manifest, so it could even explain in some way the Wind of Magic spots
there won't be one I think
the lore has changed dramatically since then
?
Well 3 years ago ADB said it was his next book.
Though that plan fell through and he wrote Echoes instead
Hmm well I'll be optimistic
so the great bastion of cathay was built to defend again.. hobgoblins
clearly overkill is the corner stone of cathay's warfare
The Steiner approach
CA did a great job with their army mechs honestly, pick a spot, sit in it, laugh as the bolts and bodies fall like rain lol
@plush mason ... it was built to defend against the endless hordes of chaos
Ah, ultimately it was Grimgor who brought it down.. uh.. OK.
Anyone know the key differences between Ogre Kingdoms and Ogor Mawtribes? Is there any massive cultural difference between the two factions?
yeah for some strange reason my brain misremembered Kurgans as Hobgoblins lol
The Great Bastion, also called the Dragon's Spine[2a] and the Great Wall[3a], is a massive, fortified wall that stretches for hundreds of miles along the northern border of Grand Cathay's Northern Provinces. It is large enough to require a garrison of tens of thousands of Cathayan troops.[1b] Its purpose is to protect Cathay from the raids and i...
yeah the End Times stuff is strange
Mawtribes are a bit more hostile towards chaos, and have tried eating a lot more things
Like they figured out how to eat ghosts
What in the god damn
The key was to freeze them
Then add a lot of sugar
So they turned ghosts into popsicles
(This traumatizes the ghost)
Thats amazing
Wait so they could eat daemons no? Or are ghosts not the same as immaterial daemons?
Ghosts aren’t the same immaterial in AoS
They’ve tried eating daemons
But they dissipate the moment you eat too much
Of a daemon so
They’re still figuring that out lul
Damn
I hope they havent changed too much like how the dwarfs did because god damn Fyreslayers are not that interesting
Fantasy styled Dwarfs still exist
Tbf
They’re under the umbrella of Cities of Sigmar tho
My favorite dwarves they’ve done are Khadron tho
They the sky pirates?
Yeah they're pretty fucking cool
I just hate that they changed the slayers to stereotypical berserkers (which I mean they kind of already were but still)
Aside from the lore reason?
They're weirdly ornate
Yeah Im not a big fan of that direction
Legit wish they were just the normal slayers but idk set on fire or used pyres because Fyreslayer lmao
Oh thank god
Pretty funny how there’s 4 dif elf factions in AoS
Not that I’m complaining they’re all very visually distinct
Thats nice they look distinct
So Craftworld Eldar but everyone's a tree
Sorta
Actually yeah
Everyone’s just a wraith construct
Funnily enough you can still see where some of their units are from soul wise
Like this guy is clearly a Dark elf
Oh thats really cool
AoS goes hard as hell when it comes to the individual aesthetics of the factions and characters
Yeah
They have so much more freedom because it's a far younger setting so they don't really have a base for things to be designed around yet
Yeah I just associated AoS as "That thing that happened after the end times" and thought it was pretty dumb overall but these designs are awesome
Lore is pretty good as well but people say it's garbage purely because it killed Fantasy
The lore slaps but I might be biased because Nagash finally achieved godhood
He deserved a win for once
Nah the lore is good
It just had a rough start
What happened with chaos? Did it change at all or is it practically the same thing in AoS?
Damn thats no fun
they look cool as hell though
Though I prefer the Nighthaunt and Ossiarch Bonereapers
Look at my boy!
Skelepope
Speaking as an old fan literally nobody liked fantasy and was constantly shitting on it/how bad the system was until it finally blew up
Fantasy as a game sucked ass
Yeah this was just blind ass nostalgia
Story wise it was good
But holy fuck
That game system was bad
Ah yes let me buy uh
300$ worth of skeletons
Before getting a single tomb kings mini

The lore is giga-tier yeah.
The game tho? Literally 90% of the people that bitched about it didnt even play the game and were just bandwagoning
I want to force everyone who never played fantasy and says it was better then AoS
herd instinct
To put together an entire skaven army
KEK
But yeah AOS might not be as good as Fantasy in some aspects but its *definitely *making a lot more money/bringing in new players.
They’ll beg for a cool mini
the 'nids of fantasy
Except they need a few more hundred skaven slave
And storm vermin
God I hope old world
Is a bit more lienant
Or else people are in for a nasty suprise lol
Same
Cause the older models are meh
Someone’s gona be screaming about how GW is greedy
not bad but can clearly be better with minimal effort
When they need like 200$ worth of line troops
Before being able to field a steam tank
Except it’s always been that way
They've been screaming in that echo chamber of theirs for 40 years
Lol
Like yeah GW is greedy for some things
But they always have been
40k and AoS are infinitely less greedy
Then what building a fantasy army from scratch was
implying GW isn't greedy
implying GW is greedy
Like that's just a fact of the hobby, GW is a gouger that will consistently do the bare minimum for fans
I mean they are lol
I never said they weren’t
It’s just that fantasy was so much worse
Somehow
Like the price for a similarly sized army between AoS 40k and fantasy
Fantasy is by far the most expensive
And you might not even get any of the cool models for fantasy either
Company wants to make money
More at 5
Like they do some scummy things but they're way better than most companies like themselves and there's a lot of good aspects to them.
Honestly wh40k lore needs some retconning to make it more friendly towards some society groups, personally im a fan of Emperor being in relationship with Malcador
''Finally, during the climax of the Horus Heresy, the Siege of Terra, it was Malcador who willingly took the Emperor's place upon the Golden Throne, using his psychic abilities to hold back the tide of Warp-spawn who sought to invade Terra''
Thats totally a lover sacrifice
^
He still is an ahole
^
He was a really bad dad
And he come from a time where sexuality is less defined (like Alexander the Great and stuff)
and now a nearly divine undead ahole
way before that bro. 8000 BCE which is before the written record of history even starts lol
The Emperor is just a piece of shit in general he has like
almost 0 redeeming qualities
yeah
Also hates chaos
and even thats a stretch at times lol
I'd rather them not make a massive piece of shit authoritarian sociopath
like
I was using Alexander and the fact that he was bi or pan since he went for guys and girls
Ardent>>>Gilded when it comes to powerful beings like him
the most prominent piece of gay/bi representation
he was a classical Greek man thru and thru yes
Like an abusive husband care about his wife
Yeah
The Emperor is just a terrible human being
and by modern day 40k he's uh
yeah
“Human”
Mf'ers conversation with Guilliman was uh
dead ass his rambling might have just been the only time he didnt lie
something according to Guilliman lol
yeah
Also the fact he both Calls Guilliman his son and a tool
Basically a discount chaos god
literally
something to be used and discarded
was there ever a point he didnt?
A lot of IoM fans think that the Emp was well meaning, but he is a egotistical as anyone
as far aas we know no lol
And it’s possible he planned the whole heresy to become a god
I mean he was "well meaning"
the same way an abusive parent and spouse is
he "cares"
he threw the thunder warriors away the moment they where no longer needed. the same fate awaits all those the emperor of mankind uses
he's hurting you to help you
ect.
regarding the thunder warriors alot of them straight up wanted to die
by that point
big e literally gaslit the whole of humanity. that would be impressive if wasnt done irl on the daily lol
lol
but the Thunder warriors were tools that had outlived their purpose
and he just discarded them
the same way he was gona discard some of the Primarchs
and their legions
did they want to be gunned down in an ambush on the eve of their last battle tho?
Yesnt
"some"
yeah
such is the lot of the tools. you exist to be used till you are replaced with something better
Also he had another couple astartes projects cooking as well
Both the Raptor project
And whatever the Selenar gene cults were working on
That Cawl stole lul
yup because the space marines where fated to go the way of the thunder warriors
When I’m in a piece of shit human competition and my opponent is the God Emperor of Man Kind
there was a meme and it was actually funny because it would be correct
the emperor cant drink non human milk
if he is from 8k BCE he is literally 2k years older than the evolution that enabled us to drink other mammal's milk safely lol
true
and likely did
if only to better fit in
which thinking on it. if he did use religion to try and guide us, he was setting us up to follow him from the start
motherfucking firefighter starting the fire moment
The imperial truth was always a lie
Most likely that a few of the important (failed) personality were him
He wasn’t Jesus(probably)
And each were more than likely ahole
Since his blood doesn’t seem to be magical
And the spear of longius in 40k is magical
But is the spear of Longius magical due to the blood of the Christ or due to the affect that we give it
IE:
Is Magic/faith given by belief or by actual godhood
I dunno lol
Tbf it could also be random warp bullshit
Just because we don't understand the logic behind it doesn't mean it's random
Likewise the truth behind the warp is not yet understood
do they say "Who Am I/I am a warrior" outside of Darktide?
he can literally breathe poison and chaos and be fine as per the lore so I think he can drink milk
I don't think it has ever appeared before
so it's sort of a Grendyl's Inquisitorial Warband thing?
Maybe, or something that is sorta widespread but never really talked about before
It was more of am hyperbole to say that until we get any official confirmation any kind of warp stuff could be happening to the spear
I would say it is a weird way to try and make espirit de corp between the criminals
Too weird for being some random warband initiation ritual imo
Agreed
Exactly because it is weird it is something they come up with for this warband
With no actual lore background for it
In general i expect it to have gone like this:
1: yo, we need some nice motto or phrase that would help the reject band together
2: yeah, something that could be like a rallying cry
3: yeah, they are not rejects, they are warriors of the inquisition
4: guy, i got it... We are a warrior!
All the others: genius!!
Might be activation codes for some sort of mind control/conditionement or something
it was a lie that the Gods fed to Horus
novelization of dtide when
Honestly given the traits some primarchs have, i think it's clear the Emperor intended to keep at least some of them around after the Crusade, even if the geneseed went a bit wonky
The most ironic example is that Blood Angels are genetically predisposed to excessive violence and terror, but the World Eaters were meant to be big brain pacifists and might have turned out that way if the Emperor didn't traumatize Angron
I think if we ever got details on that bit of lore, we'd find the Emperor probably originally expected Sanguinius to be a barbarian warlord and Angron to be some kind of new age mystic guru
Lots of pre-heresy World Eaters were fairly kind until they took the Nails
Thing i really want to see animated or in game is grav gun because i dont have faintest clue how its supposed to work
grav guns make things go up so they can't move, or go down because they can't move, because they either become super light or super heavy. Sometimes, they go down so hard everything inside them breaks.
But i wonder how it delivers it. I always visioned it shoots semi visible orb that breaks into the gravitic effect
oh yeah I always saw it as like, a straight line, sort of like a laser
Id love to see it in game or animation
If you've ever seen that low budget sci fi effect where something gets hit by a laser and gets like, an aura of whatever's killing them? That's how I saw grav guns
Tac marine shootting terminators and turning him into bedroll made of metal
grav guns mostly only exist in rulebooks and not really in novels though which makes them less interesting to lore nerds and therefore not worth making a show about
I hate that
By all means its one of the most intresting special arms at least to me
I'm basic. Lasguns, bolters, and chainswords got me here, and by fuck do I want to see more of them
I generally don't go for niche weapons, the staple interest me more, although I hate when any sci fi series tries to explain it's mechanics, because most sci fi things just don't work or they'd exist by now lmao. imo Dune is the only big franchise that got it right, by introducing a Law of Nature we don't know of yet that allows it's tech to work, and then being vague about what that Law describes.
Although iirc grav guns actually are theoretically possible? They use gravitrons, which were only hypothetical when the weapon was introduced, but could make some theoretical sense with a lot of finangling
I just love idea of it in game
Imagine in space marine if you had it,pinning ork to the ground and turning him to paste
Ironicially graviton weapons are mentioned more
Bcs of Horus heresy
But grav guns are a pretty new thing out of lore
They got introduced in late 6th edition
Which is why they’re never in books
Because a lot of books were made before they ever existed
This does not prevent me from using them every Deathwatch RPG campaign I get into
Oh there's a tank harassing us? Damn sure would suck if suddenly everyone inside was pinned to the floor.
they can do that?
If its a big enough version, yarp
i thought they just amped up the target's local gravity and crushed it with its own weight
It increases the weight in an wide arc. It will also break fragile equipment, crush organs, and so on.
It does, which is why if you do the wide beam it can affect the insides of a tank.
Its also why we never see it in lore.
Because its overpowered as fuck
Literally, bigger you are the harder you fall.
imagine a part of a book where a titan is just made into a metal pancake
Its more effective against bigger targets generally speaking.
Although obviously it depends
which pancakification is honestly how i image most targets of a grav gun die
If you're lucky you'll get crushed quickly by a focused blast
Unfortunately not always the case
They're more common then a plasma gun by a lot so yes

We work for the inquisition.
If an inquisitor wants a plasma gun then they’ll get it.
Plus there has to be different tiers of plasma weapon manufacturers not everything is ryza
We're definitely getting great value plasma weaponry, even if it's perhaps the most valuable piece of weaponry we can own
so why was the emperor known as the lord of lighting during the unification wars?
The thunder warriors
Also his symbol was the raptor imperialis
ahh
yeah the bolts of Jupitor
Wha. The lightning bolt was used during the Unification Wars on Terra. Has nothing to do with Jupiter
Lightning bolts and strikes are so common symbols
Yeah. there is.
But yeah, the plasma guns we get in Dark Tide are actually pretty good quality. Since you have to be actively not paying attention for it to Overheat and explode. But yeah there are top tier plasma weapons that basically always fire on overcharge but never overheat, usually DAoT relics, but occasionally someone puts in the effort to make one of such quality,
I mean given the fake Latin that gets used so much, the style of armor, the Aquila, the lightning bolts probably were inspired by Jupiter tbh

wtf is this
In my defense I was being an idiot and thinking of the planet

Anyone else think a Skitari class would be cool?
It might be a little too similar to the veteran unless they made it a rust stalker. A rusty could be fun. Melee class that can climb walls and stealth.
Each career path could be a different type of skitaari, have it work like ogryn where it doesn't share cosmetics with normal humans and you are good to go
They’d also have to rework the tutorial for it. Generally speaking a deficient skitarii gets rendered down and recycled.
Afte watching some extensive lore videos about the prelude to the horus heresy I feel like all this happened because the emperor failed as a father. Especially the killing of the 1000 sons and magnus on Prospero threw back humanity.
I had an idea for an enemy psyker unit.
.....
He's not a father. He is the Master of Mankind.
<@&735928989146939404>
Well. Magnus had already ruined the grand plan by that point.. But.. important point is that the Emperor sent Russ to capture Magnus and bring him to Terra, Horus intervened and changed it to a kill order.
Yeah, don't post that shit in lore chat
Dude he was literally such a bad dad that Stringstorm released a song that said "am I a terrible father?" And everyone immediately knew it was about the emperor
It was fake, a mask
The Emperor was never a Father for the Primarchs
He put on a mask of humanity
You say that as if Russ wasn't a huge daddy's girl
Magnus couldve sit on the Golden Throne and hold the Chaos at bay instead of the emperor to compensate for his mistake.
My point is everything started to go downhill from Nicaea. Emperor shouldve involved magnus in the webway project like "Hey little man, ive got an awesome project in my garage and need your help to finish it" things wouldve been different.
that's what Guilliman found out after reunited with the Emperor in Dark Imperium
Magnus has done everything wrong at that point
he just wanted to warn his father about the betrayal of horus
he literally did everything that The Emperor asked him not to
every other legion also used psykers and nobody cared
and looked the aftermath of his folly
The Thousand Sons went too far and looked too deep into the Warp
😬
intention never matters, it was the results that speaks
they had control until the attack on prospero
i can hardly blame people for trying to kill as many space wolves as possible after they massacred innocents for no reason at all
they don't
oh they don't
Magnus wasn't a bad guy, he was just the smartest idiot ever written
it was a trap, to lure Magnus and his legion to fall
I think the emperor left Magnus in the gutter after prospero. such a waste of potential
Magnus never able to cure his legion from mutation
Magnus is also a furry, for some reason
besides, it was Horus who asked the Space Wolf to decimate Prospero
not Emperor's order
Emperor send Russ to bring Magnus back to Terra
I dont know about this. as far as I know it Horus was just an onlooker and kidnapped some psykers on his own. Russ hated psykers so much so that he thought of him being in charge as a sign of the emperor to kill all psykers and Magnus on Prospero
also having russ in charge of the whole operation was maybe not the cleverest of ideas from the emperors part
it was Russ' job as Emperor's executor
Still, The emperor offered Magnus redemption even during the attack on terra
but it was Horus who changed the order from capture to execution
Yes, many... It is probably the most requested addition
Horus didnt change Russ' orders, he merely suggested that Magnus was going to be dealt with back on Terra so bringing him back was a waste of time
We have the advantage of surprise. No one yet suspects us of having learned the Emperor's true plan, and in that lies our greatest weapon. '
’But what of Magnus?' asked Maloghurst urgently, 'What happens when Leman Russ returns him to Terra?'
Horus smiled. 'Calm yourself, Mai. I have already contacted my brother Russ and illuminated him with the full breadth of Magnus's treacherous use of daemonic spells and conjurations. He was... suitably angry, and I believe I have convinced him that to return Magnus to Terra would be a waste of time and effort.'
Maloghurst returned Horus's smile. 'Magnus will not leave Prospero alive.'
’No,' agreed Horus. 'He will not.'
False Gods.
Valdor remained unmoved. ‘Even now, I would see him taken to Terra, if it could be done. I would wish to know why.’
Russ laughed, a coarse bark that sent more spittle flying into Valdor’s faceplate. ‘You’re still clinging to that? Ha!’ He turned away, swinging his greatblade casually. ‘I’ve known since I first saw this world that we would face one another. I did not come here for prisoners, Constantin. If my Father had truly wished for such, He would not have sent me.’
Magisterium
Big E gave magnus a chance to get back to his side, big E would give him a new legion that wasn't affected by the mutations, but had to sacrifice his old legion, which was lost already
"I have already contacted my brother Russ and illuminated him with the full breadth of Magnus's treacherous use of daemonic spells and conjurations"
@barren tapir ... Read Echoes of eternity yet?
@red spruce Valdor taking a difference stance depending on which author it is I'm deciding is a feature of his duplicity rather than a bug of different authors
true
for me this speaks to the humanity of magnus to not leave his 1000 sons behind
also at this point the emperor toyed with magnus so much (from the perspective of magnus) that i personally cant blame magnus to refuse
No, why?
You'll see.
his legion turned into dust eventually
F
yea bvut that was an oopsie
Happened twice didnt it?
one and only oopsie in my book
Was it? Or it was how it was expected to go? Of course not by the guy who made the spell, but they have never been truly independent in their decisions
That legion, and magnus, were always the puppet, never the puppeteer
As much they think, and love to think, they are the ones that decide
true but what was the point of it all?
the emperor fashoined all of the primachs for a reason, did he not?
Yesn't
"lets create a psyker primach and later rule out psykers" genius
He had ideas of their role, but didn't knew the full details either
it was because Magnus reached for something he didn't know
