Hampter...
Hampter
Shit my meme seep out

No idea, but all I know is that they're meant to increase the intellect of stormfiends. They were made so bulky and strong that their intelligence just... wasn't there. So now thanks to the attached and connected brain rats, they can follow basic orders
but it also goes away
it's like the same mechanic as werewolves
Warlord* and that was like 500 years ago
Lords of silence is low at the beginning but now I fucking love it
So any reason why we don't see much slaneeshi or Tzneetch daemon infestations...
Or are those for the more developed worlds with more bored nobles
Slaneesh and tzeentch require more setup ig
Think we’ll get sanguinalia (aka Christmas) themed cosmetics when the timers run out Friday?
Harder to write
Honestly, ppl who learned about the other chapters and decided that UM are their favorite. Good for them.
I’m indecisive as fuck
True, also does the average imperial even have the drive to pursue those two
Yeah
Slaanesh it could be someone wanting to be the best warrior or create the greatest drug
Or want to acquire more knowledge that opens a rabbit hole
Are there any places in the imperium where people live normal lives, and can just do casual stuff like go to the movies
Yes
If you are rich
Believe it or not there are a lot of worlds likes ours
within the imperium
its still gothic and grim
But there are civilized worlds where old earth is very closely represented
Warhammer 40K is in a world where slavery is used by the poster boy faction 24/7
A Civilised World, also called a Developing World, is an Imperial planet whose development has been allowed to progress over the millennia "naturally", without any specific purpose to fulfill. These worlds are generally self-sufficient in terms of food-supply and have varying manufacturing, technological and industrial capabilities. Civilised Wo...
Many Civilised Worlds may be equivalent in culture and population levels to Old Earth during the Age of Terra in the early 3rd Millennium. Pleasure Worlds, Mining Worlds and some Shrine Worlds can be sub-types of a Civilised World.
The way the imperium colonizes planets is they see a use for it. And that planet is entirely devoted for mainly that
So they do have stuff like, television, movies, cars
Just with emperor worship
Honestly don’t bet on getting one of these worlds lmao
On the list you see a shit load of them are from the ultramar segmentum
And ultramar isn't doing so good
right now
Basically
Your really hard pressed to find any nice place
in 40k
its there but its rare
I know they are being terrorized by death guard and the nids atm
As I say, totally unbiased, the best case scenario is getting to live in a knight world
you may be born on a nice agri world
where you grow up with some farmers or something
Oh have you seen agri worlds according to Lords of Silences?
The farmer stuff is bullshit. In reality it’s more like a forge world
They mostly use the same format
As agri worlds have a template
Weather controls, pesticide production, heavy machinery, like in lords of silence literally their air is unbreathable
As does mostly everything in the imperium but to say there isn't different variation is wrong
To say you can't be born in a non shit hole planet is also wrong
Yeah, but agri worlds are to min max food production, unless your agri world is to feed a well mannered noble world
In a knight world you will be at worst a peasant, realistically best case a merchant
Or marry into the bloodline if the family lets their children marry peasant blood
Most likely not
Oh yeah, I know ultra marines aren’t bad
dependent on chapter

the nordic viking thing is a bit much
i think Fenris the planet itself is cool
the chapter is ok idk
The wolf thing is too much
‘Guys there is a special drink you drink, and if you can’t handle it- you turn into a wolf’
‘And if you get too old, you turn into a wolf’
‘And we hunt and ride these wolves’
Black templars best chapter
Tech priest green eyes good, tech priest red eyes evil?
or Imeprial fist
I like raven guard and white scars
Dorn was pretty cool
Dorn knew he was a tool but still stayed loyal to the emperor to the end
Dorn is alright I feel like his personality is however pretty caged
But he’s a lot cooler then all of them
Lorgar cool
lorgar cool
Literally accomplished the most of any of them
but fuck erebus
Lorgar is a gem, ignore modern writers trying to make him evil for no reason
Erebus tho
I was already ignoring them
all my homies hate erebus
Erebus had a point but
He was selfish with his worship
In….. uhhh
Which one was it
He probably could of done it with less backstabbing tbh
Someone calls him out for abusing chaos for his own gain.
And turns out alot of ppl don’t like him in the word bearers
If lucius was separated from his armor before dying, would he still revive
Yeah probably
Okay so the rule doenst actually exist. It’s just an urban myth and Slaanesh does what’s funniest to them
He steps on a land mine, the perosn who made it dies
He is killed by an unfeeling swordsman
Whoops he’s back
Iirc in one of Lucius books its hinting that his armour is starting to gain a mind of its own
Makes sense
Oh yeah we’re the round boy terminators ever cannon?
A
As in
Did this design ever exist
Iirc it was called Vulkan pattern
It doesn't have a official name
Closest we have is saturine
but its not that either
its old rogue trader stuff
it was never ret conned
I think in one of those new heresy liber's it has something called saturnine armour but dunno if thats it
but not mentioned either
I thought it was called Vulkan pattern before saturnine
Have to find the artwork
Dont even remember it being called saturnine directly
Found the book quote
Form shattered legions
So it’s the Mk1 and then the modified versions by vulkan .
Do giant shovels made for ogryns exist in the actual lore?
This game is the actual lore.
But no I can't think of examples of them being armed with shovels.
Its mostly clubs for melee weapons.
Shock mauls also exist but I guess FS forgot about those....

And I can imagine there only exclusive to both ogryn prisoners and death korps of krieg ogryns
They were in various trailers
So most likely in the weapon group that should have been introduced (Going from 60+ in beta to 70+)
And high on copium expecting them before the next class drop in a few months
At this point I expect nothing, but I still hope.
As for Ogryn shovel, I would say it's not outlandish so it's probably in unmentioned lore
Because on the rpg the Ogryn had improvised melee weapon
The Slab Shield & Club and the Ripper are the most iconic.
Followed by the Grenade Gauntlet probably.
Outside of those some exist in the RPGs but we don't see a lot really.
Then there are also the Slave Ogryn gang from Necromunda
2h hammer axes, Spud Jacker
They make sense to be included
Especially for every regiment digging up trenches for trench warfare to
I dont think they issue shovel as weapon for ogryn tho...
Just like... take dis and bury all infected
Ogryn krieg sound nice...
battle turtle
Who do you guys think would win in a 3 way fight between shin megami tensei demons, doom demons ( or hell demons in general both in abrahamic religions and other media representations ), or the warhammer daemons ( both fantasy and 40k )?
Only demon?
I was only a little caught off guard when this dude in another server was surprised rogue traders sometimes have an ork onboard.
People forget orks make decent technicians.
Keep them on the pipes and away from the control panels with all the delicate buttons.
It affect normal ship too?
Yeah just only demons
I think unclean one might win
If so... lucius...
You can kill him but you wont win...
Especially when you turn into him
I mean, they don't issue shovels to guardsmen to fight in melee too
According to the Only War book, every class of Imperial Guard regardless of specialization gets a standard issue entrenching shovel designed to function both for creating fortifications AND for use in combat.
They have a damage die and a combat type.
Not to mention the Kriegers practically being famous for it.
But for reject i dont think they will issue anything standard tho...
Like ... try to take anything from that pile and do your thing lol
When you win their trust thats where they decide... hey maybe this one useful...and let you buy junk till trust you enough to issue standard stuff
That's more meme
All guardmen equip with purple grade.... and our store just sold only blue...
I've a question, from a complete lore noob. Why is it all my Psyker gear seems to have this weird collar on it. I've tried to look into it, but all I'm reading is that it's to boost the Psyker and prevent outside interference. But why would the prisoner garb have it as well?
It's a Psykana hood, it also stabilize the Psyker's power, making them less likely to explode at a given moment
So they give them to us from the start to prevent it
Because you don't want in the middle of killing a horde for a deamon to jump into a psyker's body and kill your entire squad
My understanding is that the primary use of a psychic hood is as a sort of psychic nullifier.
It may stand to reason that the devices we see on our psykers are specifically meant to nullify their powers if the need arises, or more likely for the convicts, to turn them off anytime you're not out on mission.
Keeping a psyker as a prisoner is tricky business after all, and a moderate powerful psykenetic would have a dozen ways to escape a cell if they were able to tap into the warp.
If you squeezed a grimoire would the book scream
Yeah most gear in the lore and in Darktide on a Psyker is so it makes it easier for them to operate while being somewhat protected from posession. Any time a psyker uses their power they syphon enegery from the Warp, basically openning up a portal to their mind and a Warp entitiy can use that portal to jump into their body
I think it's safe to say that that some measures have been taken to keep the reject psykers under control. I can't imagine they'd let a barely sane criminal who they do not trust, wander freely around the nerve center of an inquisitorial ship with the potential to blow up the head of anyone they cross paths with.
If you hug a scripture, you’re filled, for an exact second, with the love of The Emperor.
How come possessed CSM don’t have the psychic powers of daemonhosts? Is it a strictly different kind of possession?
Not all Daemonhost are made under the same principle
And having a Daemon in your body doesn't exactly give you definite power
So often they just power up the native abilities
And if the Daemon is in power, then the Daemon can use more power
But if you eat the Daemon you get straight buffs
The possessed CSMs seem pretty different from daemonhosts. A daemonhost is effectively wearing a human as a skin suit, but possessed space marines seem to have a more symbiotic relationship?
CSM have conquered their daemons.
For Daemonhosts the daemon is in control. But it is bound to a master.
That’s the distinction I’ve been able to make.
Usually a more powerful daemon if its worth binding too
I guess it's sort of hard to say, like all daemonhosts and so on aren't created equally.
Cherubael for example is depicted as being almost godlike in his power, and could likely rip up a whole chapter of space marines.
I think maybe the daemons possessing possessed csms are somehow limited?

Nice
Mortarion. Primarch of the Deathguard, Ultimate Champion of Nurgle. Just to give you an idea how, despite the hordes and everything, Nurgle's barely even trying at this point
I mean, sending Morty is going all in
There are plenty of stuff Nurgle could send that are great enough other than his Primarch
Like a Great Unclean One
Or Plaguebearer (Could happen)
Heck, even Nurgling could happen
Oh yeah i absolutely agree. Sending just the Deathguard would be bad enough, If Mortarion shows up Nurgle officialy isn't fucking around
I mean. I for once welcome the ability to test plasma gun on the actual spess muhreeens
Kind of, its more of a parasitic relationship.
The only example of a "symbiotic" possessed couple is Argel Tal and his daemon-bro before Erebus fucked him over
Or the Iron Warriors though in their case the daemon is the one suffering
Which they mostly are
In the Black Legion books Khayon mentions marines who are wilfully in symbiosis with the possessee(?) and some whom are forced in to that situation
Yeee
Like its usually "STAY THE FUCK INSIDE AND POWER ME UP"
its literally like a married couple but daemonic
also as expected dysfunctional and lots of people get punched around
The Iron warriors actually sumon demons to trap them into their machines. It's a nice little twist which makes them my favorite Chaos Legion. They don't serve Chaos, they use it for their needs
What about the World Eater new Eightbounds ? And the exhaled ones too
same like Fabius who thinks he isnt a slave to darkness when he cant see the strings attached to him
That I got no idea since theres no lore on them
aside from "They got EIGHT demons inside them, very radical stuff"
on the warcom article
Lmao yeah its batshit
does anyone know the lore behind the way this is constructed? sometimes the roofs nearly touch each other
There is no lore for it, its just claustrophobic architecture stacked together to make as much habitation space as possible for the hivers
Its most likely the "middle" portion of the hive city since the characters mention this place is definitely a lot more better looked after than the underhive
The idea being its been built up over Thousands of years by different architects, so doesn't really make any coherent sense
so its prety much just for show. i stil llike it because its so unusual
Slaneesh- Slightly looks at him and Fabius feels his entire body shutting down and the entirety of his armour's survival stimm and revival protocols activating
Fabius - Must have been the wind
Fabius is a skyrim guard?!?!?!?!
Fabius «Fedora Tipper» Bile
would a force glaive and dual wield force scimitars be lore accurate for a psyker?
Maybe for a GSC since they have three hands.

Dual wielding isn’t something we see a lot. The most well know dual wielding character I can think of is cypher with his plasma pistol and bolt pistol.
There’s also probably some Khorne Berzerkers out there with double chain axes because that just seems like something they’d do. Plus some terminators and the Raven guard wield dual lightning claws.
i mean grey knights have dual force scimitars
This is more of a Fantasy thing than 40k, but Solkan and the Gods of Law are canon again. This gives me hope that my favorite chaos god, Malal/Malice might become canon again
Dual wielding is generally pretty impractical for a normal person. Astartes are a bit different.
Dual wielding guns is more practical than swords, but having special power/force swords makes it more viable cause they get super strong abilities
Ciaphas Cain fights with his chainsword and laspistol a lot.
I forgot about that.
I feel like chain weapons are also better for one handed/dual wielding, since a lot of their power comes from the teeth ripping and tearing
I theory yes, any GK Force weapon (Nemesis) is/was based on normal Force Weapon pattern, so it would make sense for there to be a normal Force Glaive or any melee weapon
Just not Nemesis
Solkan, Marianka and the other one weren't retconned like Malal
Just not used for a long time
Malal is under ownership of a writer, who left GW
not sure if lore question but where is PDF of Atoma? Did they get folded instantly by the moebian six or they kinda just forgot about them
If I had to guess, guarding the other hives.
Shhh the other hives are dead
For a full on heresy at this level, the imperium prefers to leave the fighting to the guard. Most pdf’s are not equipped or trained to handle a full on planetary uprising.
they are using prisoners in rags.
The Inquisition does not want us to know about any prior Hive Cities on atoma, with how Morrow reacts to questions about it, it sounds like they're no longer active, and likely fell to heresy or for other reasons the Inquisition does not want public
i know the incompetency of pdf is like a running joke in the setting but some mention would've mean nice. BUT one of the cain books had them taken over by genestealers for decades
so that would be nice
They also added in 2 new ones, so now there's 5 Gods of Law, and originally the gods of law had the same number as the major chaos gods. 3v3, cause Malal and Slaanesh weren't added yet. (I think Slaanesh wasn't one of the original 3). Though the 5th god of law isn't named, so it might just be a subtle tease at a rival for a 5th chaos god
also it would've added some story, like the planetary governor is hiding with all the pdfs, refusing to cooperate, stuff like that
i mean we got no story currently so i'm just dreaming here
Admittedly we might find out more when the rest of the story is released
We've got hints of it, but the actual full plot isn't available yet
One of the major things you can find in game is that Rannick isn't sending us to the Metalfab area just for the missions to restore it and steal from heretics, the characters rarely discuss that there's something Rannick wants really badly there
That’s the inquisition.
The inquisition prefers to leave command of the guard and pdf to the officers.
There's also some sort of order to the missions, because one of them Zola very often says that she's from atoma, and there's another mission in the same area where the characters often ask if she might be from the planet
oh yeah with the loud music i hear zero character voicelines 🤣
what inquisitorial order is grendyl from ?
It would also make sense they wouldn’t want to send the atoma pdf against their own people. Just in case there are sympathizers or people hesitant to harm their own or possible moles.
i didn't mean they should be sent on mission like us, that would be weird
but like any mention at all
or maybe planets with full guard presence don't really need them in the first place
Pdf are usually 3rd or 4th line formations. So it makes sense.
sending the atoma pdf against the heretics would doom them to be purged later due to them catching a wiff of what chaos is
more 👏 content 👏
There supposed to be a new announcement this week for future content and I think they mentioned the next class being released to.
i want to rescue them from a siege and kill their captain in a boss fight for cowardice
My money is on a support class of some kind.
The PDF is fighting in other places, mostly being on the defence, remember, we are not fighting in active frontlines, we are conducting small infiltration missions or doing small engagements fights... PDF is probably holding the line, and probably also got hardly mauled by the first attack from the moebian that no one really thought would betray
tech-priest or skitarii 🙏
i think they said a class per quarters?
Probably not a skitarii. A failed one would just get rendered down for parts.
honestly i don't see a support class, either toughness refill or heal would be too broken
I’m leaning towards a tech priest adept though.
one of mommy hadrons personal skitarii 🙏
enginseer
Just an ork in a prisoner outfit
the low level techs are perfect, they are basically just cyberpunk npcs 🤣
A biologis or it might just be some random human medicae.
1-2 metal parts but still squishy humans
I really hope it’s not some random human medic.
"Iz a reject. Trust me. Iz definitely not an ork"
This is also incorrect, PDF are there to deal with planetary uprising, but in certain cases like this one the uprising might get too much momentum that external help is required, in such cases their orders are to dig in where they can and resist until relief troops arrive
is mommy hadron just a normal tech priest? she doesnt seem tobe a dominus or something
well i mean a combat medic would fit the veteran
It being an ork would be fucking hilarious
I dont care if its lorebreaking
For the emperwaaaagh
well it probably wouldn't, they are okay with employing heretics and "witches"
orks would enjoy infinite hordes
just capture a raiding vessel with them
See. The orks would actively want to be here
she’s probably some tech priest that the inquisitor took for the retinue.
i know it won't happen but the lore can be really stretchy
Plus orks are funny
The exact hierarchy of the Admech is complicated anyway.
i can see orks being some sort of incursion enemies that would fight both the hordes of cultists and heretics and poxwalkers and you
Question is it funny to make an ork warband based on top gear
We are on a Rogue Trader ship
hadron seems like the kind that would lock herself away and focus on research/work instead of official stuff
They’re definitely ready to deal with the peasant uprisings but no pdf is ever really prepared or capable of handling an entire planet turning against them or a massive traitor guard regiment.
pdf only job is to buy time for the guard to arrive
Well, listening to the vox thing they posted, the traitor guard was the imperial guard who was meant to be Atoma's
There's mention of them getting corrupted by something out on the fringe and they brought it back with them
Would an ork warband based on top gear be genuinely funny
after some books if it's chaos or genestealers the half of the pdf is already one of those 🤣
I was under the impression it was an atoma regiment that came home but were secretly traitors.
the scabs are the moebian 6th regiment, they were diverted to deal with the cult in hive tertium but joined forces with them instead
that's exactly the case
Infected by something on the fringe
The bully Ogryn specifically uses the terms “krump” and “gits” which are distinctly orky.
(Which I mean its Nurgle, so could've been fucking anything)
They are, that is what they are made for in theory, but it is also true that if a great uprising happen, probably the PDF throw their lot in the uprising, since, you know, they are from the same planet too... But yeah, they are capable to deal with normal planetary stuff, but not exactly a backstabbing imperial guard regiment with an already developed cult also starting their uprising, simply too much stuff to deal, which would be too much even for a regiment of imperial guard honestly
to be honest ogryns are just ork reskins, they didn't even try to hide it
Tonit on da Bottum Gearz Warband. SquigMound zoggin crashes da lootin kruuzer into da planet.
you color them green, add teeth, less patience and done
Jamz'Mey lites up a propa big splody thing
An Clarcl'Sun starts a rite propa waaagh
I was thinking the Ogryn would get an ork skin after hearing those lines.
But I never played vermintide, did they ever add any joke/comedy skins to the game?
the zealot had a piggy hat
Regarding Hadron, she seems to be a Transmechanic, since she seem to be responsible for transmission generally speaking
like a literal pig
So we can blame hadron for the servers
Fish hat too.
uninstalled vt 2 after darktide but now i miss it
So joke skins have a precedent and are r off the table. I was wondering this morning about xmas themed (sanguinalia) skins.
i just spent 60 hours maxing my zealot and thinking about doing the same thing again just makes me icky
i'm sure they will do something for christmas
knowing 40k santa is probably a khornite demon or something
because red
Nurgle has cursed me with the blight of the oregon trail
I capped my zealot and thought about getting my premade together for the achievement skins but I just didn’t care that much. Decided to level another character instead. I picked the psyker and it’s a lot of fun.
Na santas a greenskin
Genghis Khan was Khorne's first daemon prince apparently
Especially because in all my time leveling zealot I picked a combination for the psyker that I’ve never seen anyone else but me play.
Image taken from regimental standard
axe?
Female psyker with the loner voice pack.
oh i thought you meanr a weapon combination
Also why did they buff the chainsword for vet
I never saw anyone but me play it in all my time leveling.
Chainsword now triggers on kill effects on hit
And now triggers the vets on kill ammo effect
because vet needs to be 2x strong than everyone else, not only 1.6x
That was an indirect buff. It was supposed to trigger on kill effects. Not doing so was a bug.
It dorectly benefits everyone else
but why, they are not killing
So wait it was always meant to trigger on kill effect on hit
Does this apply to the evisc as well
I thought it was on kill, not on hit.
didn't feel anything on evisc
Nono. Check the recent patch notes
but i also have zero on kill effect perks
I did. I thought it said the chainsword wasn’t correctly triggering on kill effects.
Chainsword triggers on kill effect on hit
but whyyy
Chainsword triggers vet ammo in coherency effect
But anyway we are getting off topic.
i mean i enjoy the weapon, but still, kill effects should trigger on kills
Back to the lore.
Rip and tear.
Chainswords are stupid and cool
A random human wielding a chain axe was surprising. Usually that’s a Khorne thing.
i only saw chainswords in the books
and they seem like some weapon that would need a lot of training
Hell its even tattood onto some enemies in chaos runes
imagine revving up and getting your clothes caught on it
Chainaxe and chainsword is simple
Rev sword
Apply sword to unfortunate motherfucker
That’s always a general chaos term. It also hints at the traitors coming across chaos marines of some kind.
and it deflects from a wrong angle, cuts off your leg
Replace sword with axe if necessary
did you guys never use chainsaws
Fair
they are hella dangerous on their own
Since it’s nurgle it’s probably death guard however there are nurgle warbands in the black legion.
Also runes for plaguebearers have shown up on missions
pretty sure chaos united or whatever also has their symbols on some maps
i'm kinda sad that it's always nurgle
So is the symbol of nurgle.
I am pretty disappointed we only see nurgle
Yeah. I actually have guides on chaos sumbols
Makes sense since he has created an actual zombie virus.
And a virus that turns people in to daemons.
Ive posted them here before. Sadly the ones i have on non phonetic runes are wh fantasy
khorn seems pretty easy, i checked the wiki today and they have pretty much the same units/enemy types
But they mostly check out
just red, more angry, less smelly
Probably just as smelly but of old blood and guts.
Also no nurglings to punt at escape velocity
Covering yourself in gore and viscera constantly probably doesn’t make you smell much better.
that's probably better than shit and puke right
You show me
Yeah but probably not by much.
are the small
Very smol
i like the bird leg on their shoulder, very stylish
Though one nurgling that fell in to Nurgle’s plague cauldron got transformed in to a great unclean one after absorbing a super powerful disease.
They are perfect size to punt
meat is back on the menu boys
Kugath' Plague father
Too treacherous to have arms or legs
Ku'gath ? I know it's those letter and symbol but not sure where it is
This is all gw stuff btw
anyone can eli5 what's up with fantasy? feels like there are two fantasy settings
Im pretty sure its basically a universe reset at some point
Age of ligma
age of sigmar was created by a particularly stupid business decision (we only make money when people buy models, so lets make everyone buy new models) but has come into its own
a lot of people still like to grumble about AoS but we're getting the old world back so i don't really see the point
yeah
so they basically wanted to rewrite the setting without retconning 5 million details
so vermintide is during the end times yeah?
Warhammer fantasy had an apocalypse and the world was destroyed and then stuff happened and a series of realms was created ruled over by various factions.
Thus AoS was created.
correct
Also the answer for how far i punted the nurgling which resulted in nurgles wrath upon my digestive track?
oh wow they totally not gave end times vibes
welp just downloaded the 5 end times books
almost got the rulebooks instead of the novels 😒
Look at this lad
oh are they the actez or whatevers
Somewhat yeah
Actually fun fact. Map of the wh fantasy world is quite similar to the real world iirc
had a guess
only in that there are two big continents with an ocean between them
The lizardmen seem to mainly have been in the southern and middle area of the americas
No as in you can make out specific regions
there are regional equivalents, but more in culture and coordinates than in actual geography
Even the relative shape is somewhat similar
this stuff?
btw did the whole thing was overrun during end times but only that human pocket in "europe"
it kinda feels like humans being drama queens
Nah shit was fucked in end times iirc
the entire planet was blown up
Its just that the humans mainly lived in europe
Also as of some dawn of war starting locations the dark elves are all over canada
let me guess, there are theories that fantasy happens in the future
40k and fantasy used to be connected, but they've been separated out
they are separate universes now
in fact the old ones being frogge may be in refrence to le slann
wait i thought dawn of war was 40k??
Er
Total war
Not dawn of war
My bad
In total war warhammer dark elves seem to start out alot around canada. One of the tomb king factions was mc fucking banished to the americas
surprised they didn't just plop them down in egypt
And the lizard bois seem to be around central and south america
Oh most of them are.
Its just that one group was fucking booted to america
fuck i was joking
thinking "well they can't be that fucking lazy"
time to download more warhammer books i will never read
Skaven are supposed to be the Industrial Revolution
someone mentioned earlier that most humans live in the no-europe region: that's not quite true, that's just where most the games take place
are they like a slav united faction
basically every area except for the elf only island and not-america is populated with humans
that just sounds like saying Kijev while a skaven bites your nose
They basically are the Polish Lithuania of the time of HRE
ah the norsca? i like them
Not America has a few human settlements, + Chaos Warrior incursions in the north
the rep is so horrible
And uh. Not sicilian (clan skyre)
that world ain't right
There used to be a Not Chaos Norsca before
Also skaven having nukes and space capable satalites is the funniest shit
"capable"
guess no free books anymore
I have to deal with being in dark elf land seeing as im canadian
the dwarfs? you're from northern england?
There used to be Native Human in Not America
I mean im not first nations either
Then you're a Dark Elf
"Used to be native human" makes even more sense for me being stuck with the dark eld
Canadian history of several genocides and cultural deletions go brrr
The Imperial English are the High Elf
The lizardmen are based
they consider themselves the custodians of the world and act insufferably smug about it to other races; yeah that tracks
Lizardmen based. Elves briish
except they don't seem to colonize everything
Good
if you'll excuse my bringing 400 year old politics into this
Colonialism was a mistake - person who only exists because of colonialism (me)
by the way, does anyone know of any 40k novels (good) that center on psykers?
Also empire playthroughs seem to just devolve into trying to unify the empire as everyone else tries to declare war on you
Or ally with you
Tomb kings is just for setras case "get the fuck off my lawn"
Indirectly Ravenor is a psyker so I would recommend that one but it's also an Inquisition story
can someone explain me what is those second cities on the ceiling we can see om some maps?
i'm currently reading the ravenor stuff, picking it up after having finished eisenhorn a long time ago
Isnt he the only Warhammer Character to ever make a deal with Chaos then tell them just kidding idfwy
it's the same city, but higher up
your average hive city is over 5,000 km wide at the base
and why is it upside down?
cause Throneside is a big artificial cave, and those buildings are built on the roof of it
Because its built top down for maximum use of hive city space
It's free real estate
You tellin me you wouldnt make use of the fuckin underside of the roof of the hive city for real estate? What an idiot
don't be mean to heather she just lost her dad
Harry was a good man.
Thanks. Do they use some artificial gravity stuff here? Or is it just archetecture looks that nake it look like its upside down?
Just funky architecture likely
it just looks upside down because it's on the ceiling most likely
artificial gravity stuff is rare outside of spaceships
who knows though
Why do Psyker hoods have a bunch of tubes?
cause it looks cool
Good question
But yeah hive cities tend to go full on dorf fort for sprawl sometimes
you could theorize that it's to enhance their powers or help them control them or something, but loads of psykers seem to function just fine without head tubes, and i've never seen an actual explanation for them
Maybe its a limiter
space marine librarians have a special psychic hood, but that's just equipment, no tubes required
Sedative pump?
i'm pretty confident it's just there to look dope
Tbh it does look cool
the tubes are filled with gatorade
love to have gatorade pumped directly into my cranium
Those wyrmwood transmissions are a trap to capture and convert an inquisitor
Warlord
thx

Hey so who exactly knows about the grey knights besides the inquisition?
Space wolves
Which sisters?
Sisters of battle
Probably not
i assume grey knights will become way less secret once guilliman finds out about their whole secrecy business
the business of killing everyone who finds out who isn't on their need to know list, i mean
WAit does Gulliman know about them?
no idea
He does.
I know the inquisition is keeping slot of secrets from Gulliman
Other high-ranking inquisitors mainly
no joke, darktide is the only piece of 40k media i've consumed that acknowledges the galactic glasgow smile
Ad. Mech. know about grey kinghts, since they have a forge world given exclusively to produce stuff for them
there can't possibly be enough grey knights that they need the industrial output of an entire PLANET to maintain their stuff
much less a forge world
Dunno, after all he wasn't greeted by a great master of the grey knight after being revived... In shorter words yes, he fully know about them
Oh okay lol
i assume the high lords of terra would know
otherwise there would be an embarrassing number of dead high lords who went "hey what's on titan?"
oH Those guys!
ok deimos is fucking 6 kilometers across, how are you gonna call that a forge world
40k has spaceships bigger than deimos
Because that is what it is
deimos isn't a planet it's a tiny rock
It is a moon yes, and it is a forge world
that's like me putting a lathe in my garage and declaring it a factory
Graia
Keep finding excuses to not accept that they have a forge world all for them
All chapter masters or most were told
So they can be aware of why marines need to be mindwiped and all that
i'm fine with deimos being devoted to making stuff for them, i just think it's goofy that they're calling it a forge world
There’s also individual Astartes and people who know
Forge moon would sound better? Forge world is its category, it has nothing to do with the size of the planet
usually a forge world is, you know, a world
Another moon that is a full forge world is in ultramar, konor iirc
Again the /tp -ing ring that’s a forge world
i cannot stress enough, my favorite hike to go on around my house is longer than the width of deimos
Ah, not konor, that is a planet... Its moon Gantz was a forge world
Look at the cute moon
Eh, tell this to the people at GW that don't care about numbers
i will write a very strongly worded letter to GW about deimos
You go take them tiger, i believe in you
Also it’s been thousands of years
You are truly unchained
It’s possible it’s just been built around a shitton
Plus, the GKs don’t need a massive industry to make their stuff
Most probable, but also hollowed up, since we know the factories are underground...
your average ark mechanicus is many times bigger than deimos
Hello. New to Warhammer 40k and loving it so far. Where can I find out more about the lore?
Which is weird AF since, well, there isn't much to dig
Sure but Ark Mechanicus each can easily be on the level of a minor Forge World in production ability
Also there’s no standard for them
Well, tbf they are considered small moons... What the hell GW mean when they say small medium or big is up to debate though
Even more than a minor forge world depending on the Ark
i'd recommend the wikis
Arks are great... In all sense eheheheheh
Not even just STCs but they get absurd
Gotcha. Would YouTube videos suffice as well?
yeah there's lots of good youtubes, though i can't recommend any since I don't watch them
Yes and no, some loretubers get stuff very wrong
The big thing too is Arks have no standard
It’s more just a title for an archeotech ship
Which is under use of the Ad Mech
Oh okay. Is there like any order of which I should read the wiki?
just read about the stuff you think is interesting
this will inevitably link you to more interesting things
have you ever gone on a wikipedia binge? it's like that
but way, way nerdier
Thanks will do that.
Choose a faction that you like the most, read all its lore, then branch out
Oh lol okay
Or branch out before reading all their lore, depend on you only
I found a lore/history playlist from Luetin09 on YT. What do you guys think?
he's pretty good i think?
Saw some of those videos, quite good, but very long
yeah there's a lot of 40k lore lol
Damn. Okay I'll try his playlist and listen to it as an audiobook
And luetin is know to make long videos even with quite basic concepts
Gotcha. I'm okay with more details really. Thanks I'll try his playlist
Also wanted to get into like the actual tabletop game. And found out that I had to like purchase the army and paint them myself
Lol
Ark mechanicus should be rare, but damn we got a lot new one recently...
"rare" on the scale of 40k is kinda wild though
sorry my brain just autopiloted that sentence
"rare" on the scale of 40k is a tricky concept, since you can have thousands of something and it'll still be rare
technically space marines are incredibly rare
there are more cadians than any other kind of guardsman but all things considered those are pretty rare too
(also a bit of a collectors item since the manufacturer shut down, so to speak)
WELL be great to see warhammer 40k space marien 2 in game award

Space wolves summed up
they furries?
I would rather say gw being unoriginal
"SQUIG`MOUND YA BLITHERIN IDJIT, YA ZOGGIN WEN' AN CRASHED DA SNAZZWAGON YA GIT!!"
how orky is this
"So they are space vikings how should we name their units?"
Woof
What the fu-
'Cough i meant wolf'
Whats the human population in 40k
"Untold Trillions" - Horus Series Book 1 Chapter 1
40k does not like specific numbers
Terra alone I think is said to have quadrillions in the Vaults of Terra books
More then a few quadrillion
Because terra alone has quadrillions
Man, human lives must be worthless
No shit lol
And the quadrillions on terra
Was after a massive famine due to the great rift opening
Killing a good chunk of its population
Likely a quintillion or more humans
Which meant plenty of delicious humans and the time of plenty has begun.
Yep
Sure it may seem wrong but sometimes you just want to eat people. Plus Terra has tons of them just walking around filled with meat.
I asked this in general and people said it will be a money printer but
What lore explanation will there be for DK cosmetics
Arent DKK like basically human machines so how would one not only break imperial law but also not die for it
I hope they do a primaris marine version of this style of dreadnought
I like the helmet part
They’re still human
They’re just very socially empty and lack any sort of actual emotional intelligence
Theyre vat grown, no?
Some
Krieg isn't available as a homeworld in character creation. if they release cosmetics you're still not a member of the death korps, just a fan boy cosplaying
I hope they add krieg as a homeworld but also add a new personality which is literally just silence
that has historically been the problem with marketing krieg. their entire theme is they have zero personality
Like in ghe walking dead games if you dont pick a dialogue option in time people will get weirded oht
Bold of you to assume there will be a lore explanation for the outfit rather than just general krieg lore. Assuming we get anything at all.
I’d rock a DK outfit and would happily spend money on it even if I don’t play veteran much yet.
I want tallarn or ventrillian outfit
The cosmetic timers run out tomorrow right? I’m curious to see what they get replaced with. Even if I don’t buy the cosmetics myself I still wonder.
Hype!!!! ❤️
is there a book about the Months of Shame
im reading about it and i like the premise of space marines stopping inquisitors from commiting genocide and it spiraling into a civil war
question what are these
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK02e3U4Q9U who drives them are they like AI or something?
Titans
They have people in a tank full of fluid that connect to the titan to control it
They literally become one with the machine
this is not a perfect comparison but think of it like pacific rim where the pilot melds with the machine. only there's one pilot (a princeps) and a bridge crew of moderati that monitor auxiliary functions
the princeps interfaces with a mind impulse unit (MIU) which allows them to instinctively control the titan
moderati tend to operate the shoulder mounted weapons
And you have to either hope the titan doesnt fry you or you have the strongest will
there are also chaos titans which more often than not are no longer piloted by a mortal crew but a daemon engine
which is a kind of evil semi organic daemon AI
artificial abominable intelligence is very banned in the imperium. instead they use cogitators which are servitor brains shoved in a computer terminal
this is part religious doctrine, but also because during the dark age of technology the men of iron were robots created by mankind that violently rebelled
that said titans do have a 'machine spirit' made up of the gestalt consciousness of its previous pilots. it is basically augmented AI but the Imperium has all kinds of technicalities
titan pilots often have to wrestle with bloodthirsty machine spirits so they don't lose control and get fried like Cuckle said
The Titan’s machine spirt in the books is depicted as mostly feral. Like a vicious animal barely contained.
Not all of them.
Warlord yes. Probably even reavers but not war hounds.
imperial knights have to deal with actual personality fragments but the larger titans are often portrayed as more bestial
Knights also have manual controls that don’t require bonding with them but it’s not nearly as responsive.
yeah there are some great scenes in Assassinorum Kingmaker that dive into that
It was news to me. Kind of makes them less special since anyone can hop in and drive them like a mech now.
Knights are my favorite faction and what got me in to 40k
sort of. it's very impractical for actual combat, they use it to move around parade grounds without waking the spirit
interfacing with the throne mechanicum is much more effective, and without spoilers for the book impersonating the pilot without its machine spirit noticing is very not trivial
Isnt dan cabinet making the lote for the game so he would find a way
yeah he's writing for the game
He is but after the barely present cutscenes where almost nothing happens I’m skeptical of any good lore.
they have seasonal story content planned i think?
idk, fingers crossed
they haven't dropped the ball yet
What are the five rusty pillars
after some quick searching... i can find nothing.
So wtf is my psyker on about. I tried look it up too and couldn't find anything either
Honestly, psykers inventing funny new ideas makes sense
I'm assuming the "pillars" or spires he talks about are the five Hive Spires of Tertium
Though I'm just spitballing here
On second thought, I'm looking at the pic of Tertium from the trailer and can only see two spires so I'm likely wrong
[Book Excerpt | Master of Sanctity] Space Marine Falls Down Some Stairs
Affirmative,’ replied Daellon and Telemenus together. The two of them opened fire, synchronising bursts between them. Brickwork turned to dust as Telemenus pounded the huts from outside while Daellon let fly through interior walls. A few sparks of las-bolts from a window two dozen metres ahead drew the attention of Telemenus. He returned fire, punching half a dozen bolts through the wall.
‘Some kind of sub-level here,’ reported Daellon. ‘Descending.’
‘Wait!’ yelled Telemenus, but his warning came too late. The audio pick-ups brought the sound of splintering woods and crumbling ferrocrete followed by an almighty crash.
Daellon cursed without pause over the vox.
‘Report,’ barked Arbalan.
‘Brother Daellon misjudged the load bearing of some internal stairs, brother-sergeant,’ said Telemenus, trying not to laugh. For once he was glad somebody else was attracting the negative scrutiny. There was a chuckle from Cadmael and a sigh from Arbalan.
‘Daellon, can you climb out?’ asked the sergeant.
‘Negative, a three metre drop at least. The floor will not hold my weight to pull myself up.’
‘No threats detected,’ Telemenus added, his auspex sensors encompassing the long row of huts.
‘Understood,’ said Arbalan. He sounded impatient. ‘Daellon, remain in place, I will signal for an armoury extraction team. Telemenus, rejoin the squad.
@winter vessel
Unsure if it was a terminator tho
Still funny
It’s a terminator
Earlier in the story they’re training in it
Still very funny
just gotta hope he wasnt a dark angels

...ooooh...
Primarchs are they stronger than space marines?
They are stronger than Custodes

didnt know that
Isn't the Shadow in the Warp the Tyranid Hive Mind?
It's a part of it. And it does effect the emperor in the way that it blocks astropaths from seeing him.
Can i ask, did GW start this fantasy thing or Blizzard with Warcraft?
Basically, Warhammer or Warcraft first?
warhammer was much first. by like 20 years.
Warhammer is old as hell
I read a story once about a Kriegsman who got left behind in the rubble and became a citizen for a short while before he wanted to get back to fighting, it kinda showed how there is a human underneath all that indoctrination, but at the end of the day they believe in spending their lives as best they can for the Emperor
And so is 40k
are these diff types of space marines the ones i circled?
the thunder warriors are proto space marines they where created by the emperor during the unification wars on terra but they didnt have any emotion and he thus created the astartes
Not really 40k lore, but if you mean just like modern fantasy tropes in general, they come from a lot of places.
Conan and its contemporary are huge. So is old d&d, and of course Tolkien is the grandaddy of all of it. I'm not super huge into WH fantasy, but I but it draws very heavily from Conan. The way 40k draws from dune.
Custodes are said to have DNA from the Emperor himself, much like his Primarch sons. They are the defenders of Terra and if just one of them is on the battlefield, the commanders are certain of success.
so wait
The Thunder warriors were the first version of space marines, a lot more brutal and a lot more short lived
right to left is like weakest to strongest?
yes
The Thunder warriors were the first version of space marines, a lot more brutal and a lot more short lived
so he made a better version?
Then who inspired Tolkien?
custodes=primearch's son yes?
Yeah, once Terra was unified the thunder warriors all died in one final battle (||they were wiped out once they were no longer the ideal tool for galaxy domination||)
the astartes where created using the blood of the primarchs
o
custodes are to the emperor what astartes are to primarch (somewhat not exactly but its the best picture i can give ) XD
Tolkien was heavily inspired by mythology, and part of his goal with lotr was to create a fantastical canon of mythology for Britain.
Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer strategy game
But GW and Blizzard had disagrements
Jesus GW must rly regret that lmao
Primaris marines are the new breed of Astartes, most Space marines are now Primaris as they can go through surgery to upgrade themselves (which is risky as all surgery to make a marine is) and also through attrition of war. New marines are made into Primaris right away, so the old breed will die out eventually altogether.
same for starcraft
Even a 70-30 in favor of Blizzard is worth it
Space Marines.. its all coming together
Now Blizzards version is the more famous of the two
My understanding is that this is more the case for the grey knights, who use the emperor's own gene seed.
The custodians were each handcrafted personally by the emperor (until m42 when they started making more themselves). But the emperor described them each as being like a unique piece of art.
tho fun fact after starcraft release and with the massive love for the zergs GW changed the tyranid look this is tyranids before starcraft released
Nids already were already somewhat the modern design
Pre StarCraft
They just went into overdrive for nid releases after StarCraft tho lol
yes the custodes are hand made and each is extremly precious you are totaly right i was just doing closer ties to not go full out lore of how they are XD
tyranids had diplomats before XD
That was in 2nd yeah
But right before 3 we got more zergish minis
9th edition
10th is on the horizon I bet!
10th is prolly late 2023
Or 2024
We aren’t getting world eaters and guard codexes till quarter 1 of 2023
I'm guessing 24, they wouldn't trash 9th that quickly
There will probably be some big supplement series ala psychic awakening - the lore
Mid 2023
Either that or just dataslate shakeups, I cant imagine nothing releasing in 2023
Might be that's what Arks of Omen is?
Yeee
They didn’t do great the first time
Nah arks is campaign books
Mostly
With some small rules on a new gamemode
Oh yeah the gamemodes
Psychic awakening was a bunch of new rules
Nothing for main 40k tho
Fair nuff
Yeah, PA was bad because alot of armies now had to buy campaign books for rules
Admech, sisters and csm all got a nice wave
Which iirc they said they specifically didnt want to do for Arks
Also the warzone books lul
Yep
Daemon, csm, SoB and admech players fighting each other for a warzone charadon book
I honestly still dont like that massive supplements get dumped into white dorfs
I really hope they stick with the shattered Imperium idea and go for the plan that half the galaxy is hell and random planets trying to survive just like Old Night, while the Terra half is more or less fine cause they still have the Astronomian
Have you read the csm codex?
The worst part is that supplements are almost always better than base army LMAO
We get some info on the dark imperium
Arks at least seems like the most major lore event in 9e so far. Got abadaddy doing things.
The first admech supplement somehow being worse then playing the army normally
I've been reading Novels covering the Dark Imperium but no codexes
Damn
Dark imperium is in chaos and there’s large swathes of the imperium falling under chaos control on that side
I think Admech might genuinely be some of the worst internal balance of the edition between subfaction traits
Imperial forces are spread really thin
Mars has been so comically dominant
Yeah
Why Fantasy is better than 40K?
Yeah but I hope they stick with that instead of just saying "but everything is fine and the Imperium is surviving because fuck you"
I just remember Skitarii getting canticles being like the Thing
Since skitarii spam anyway
Depends on perspective and opinion
But living in warhammer fantasy is arguably less terrible then in 40k
Google told me its a fact
Yeah fantasy rlly isnt all that bad to live in?
I mean it obvs depends on where u are but
Bretonia and chaos wastes
💀
Yep LMAO
But you couls also live in like
The inner Asur cities
Bretonnia got hit hard by the grimderp bat
Imagine being French but in Fantasy, as if that would be better
Being an ogre would be pretty based though.
Bretonnia is meant to make fun of feudal societies
Its hilarious
Have a good time eating and killing and eating more
Learn some gut magic.
Heard theres a fifth god, Malice
