more Inspector Clousseau
WELL IM SORRY
Yes he was old friends with obiwan shelock clousseau
The segmented armour they use is reminiscent of the lamellar plating and segmented styles of both ancient Japan and China.
There's likely a good amount of design cues being taken.
Way more japan than china
fuck I cannot STAND how many people take the lore serious like it wasn't written in think tanks made up of 80's cokeheads wondering how they could slag off Thatcher without being arrested by the fuckin' British wankers
It says so in the Cain book I’m reading which has Tau in it so I was reminded to bring it up.
Where did the kroot come from in terms of inspiration
Because Japan had almost no metal
Birds
Evil birds
They're bird things with some Apache stylings.
At least the old Shaper mini was.
They dress like the predator
And in the kasrkin novel their avian behavior is more pronounced.
They communicate by whistling at each other.
i feel like the tone has changed a but since rogue trader...
Anyways, I didn't know cain's sword instructor had a nice series of references
Yep it’s a thing.
Lazy series you mean
yeah it went from fun to dumb
Usually they hide them a little more than that
resulting in entire oceans of messages arguing about phrasing in some fuckin' book that they paid a starving author 5 bucks to write
Angry birds
At least they didn't give him a bartender named jack daniels. Right?
The instructor also waxed poetic about some weird move that’s like falling leaves or whatever.
I do audiobooks so I don’t have the excerpt but yeah.
Jackus Danielicus
The deathstalker series is pretty bad with the names.
Like the intergalactic rebel “Jack Random.”
Jack wut
Yes really. Jack Random.
I hate 40k books sometimes
Deathstalker isn’t 40k. It’s another old sci-fi series that’s just as weird.
Oh then I take it back
no bro leave it out
fuck 40k books
fuck 40k generally
if I worked for James I'd be packing as much awful tasteless crap in there as possible out of spite
I would've literally named Votann "Squat Space Dorfs"
That's not a bad nsme honestly
You mean scrunts
rename Space Marines to "Largemen Supreme"
Scrunts lmao
contact McDonald's corporation to include a space marine in each Happy Meal
etc
really jack up that stock price
The land raider named after Jacob Land
100%
Squat renamed to Squan't
honestly go even further
license it to Walmart
name them "Walmart Brand Squants"
only allow them at tournaments if they are painted Walmart colours
It is a land raider and they do use it to raid land.
like here we are with people who take the lore serious (I hope to G-d none of you do)
when this exists, Warhammer Brand Hot Sauce
embarrassing
Arkhan Land was a famed Techno-archaeologist of the Mechanicum who led an expedition into the massive ruins of the Librarius Omnis on Mars in the early days of the Imperium of Man during the Great Crusade in the late 30th Millennium. He rediscovered the lost Standard Template Construct (STC) template for the heavy armoured battle tank that would...
in conjunction with "Lou's Hot Sauce"
I know. I was making a joke.
I'll kill 'em
fuck I'm not a mind reader
No shiz lol
John Warhammer
check out this officially licensed fake fucking leather jacket that looks like shit
or you can get any 4 ugly coffee mugs for just 45$ USD!
or you could get this terrible decal Chaos hoodie for the low low price of 80 dollars
Jeez...
jesus
maybe interest you in a "keep kalm [sic] and waagh" baby jumper?
could I interest you perhaps in an Ultramarines commemorative coin that costs 20.99 and is worth 10 cents from a Chinese factory?
They think they're Star Wars LMAO
You know it'll be expensive lol
Next you'll tell me a 9$ beer at the ballpark didn't cost me 8$ to make.
you're telling me the cost of something is immaterial?
No
No ones holding a gun to your head to make you buy a candle
I don't watch baseball because I'm not a numpty, lol
Like yeah its overpriced, don't buy it then
I'm just saying the concept of scented candles is funny and neat
But sadly it's 20 dollars instead of a reasonable price like 5-10
lmao wut. now price matters?
Also like... clothes is always gonna be lame if it relates to a pop culture thing or fandom thing
They were selling milk cartons with R2D2 on them when the Force Awakens came out
personally I would never wear anything in the 40k catalogue because I'm tzniut
Lol that's silly
but even for fan clothes they are especially horrifying looking
that jacket's hideous damn
I wouldn't wear any 40k stuff in public because I don't plan to take a vow of celibacy anytime soon
Same lol
I'm too tall for any of it, its always the wrong size for anything I don't buy special.
I like wearing general clothing. Plain stuff that doesn't make me stand out
I just wear suits pretty much 'cause I'm workin all the damn time
suits to shul too obviously
Unless I know it's something that's not gonna look too bad. Like I'd wear an ork shirt with just one of the many clan symbols but I don't want anything else. Maybe make it like, a symbol on the left breast of the shirt
Depends on the context too
Going to something like, a fan event or whatever vs just going out.
Shouldn't humans and necrons form an official alliance? Small scale alliances have happened twice (Cadia and Silent King). Silent King needs to stop Tyrannids and Humans need to put down Chaos for good with Necron Blackstone
not until Imperium changes its slogans lol
could be perceived as "slightly insensitive"
Nothing that propaganda can't fix.
Necrons aren't interested
Imperium also isn't really
Only when need is dire does it happen.
It certainly looks dire
Not dire enough
Have people seen the size of Leviathan
The Silent King is currently laying waste to the Imperium worlds in the Pariah Nebula
Or whatever its called now
actually no, most people haven't
maybe one guy?
Silent King has
okay but he's not really talking about it is he, lol
And he doesn't need the Imperium's help
Which is why he noped the fuck back to the galaxy
I would expect silent King and Kryptman to come to an alliance
I guess my point is its hard to stress how little either side trusts the other, and how little the Necrons are interested in any sort of alliance
Kryptmann probably would be down for it tbh.
At least temporarily
But he has no power
And no Necrons are asking
Its not like Eldar, who the Imperium still has conflicts with
CWE fairly consistently could be bargained with
If they weren't Biel-Tan
And it was mutually beneficial.
Necrons almost never has it happened, and it was very special cases.
And the Imperium is still not like, buddy buddy with the Eldar factions whose interests align with them.
And said factions aren't in the midst of creating a zone where souls can't exist and warp travel can't happen, and are wiping out all other life, or capturing it for experimentation.
Another reason for Silent King to want to ally, is that many human worlds are Tomb worlds. They can engage in conflicts when SK needs to wake them up, but clearly they have bigger enemies to worry about
That's not a reason for him to want to ally.
That's a reason for further extermination.
Or capture
They do not see other races as potential allies, only vessels with which they can maybe one day undo biotransference with.
Necron arrogance is still very alive and well.
Reason is that if he decides to fight human empire, as in the whole of empire, it would be too much even for him
The human empire is the most dominant now
Its not clear although based off the Pariah nebula lore, it would not.
He's literally just roflstomping his way through the Imperium forces
Blood Angels fought him to a draw
No idea
well he has access to the Celestial Orrery
he could just blow up humanity
literally anytime
Better question is
Does grendyl even exist
Or is he like Emmanuel Goldstein
They did not, and thats very dated lore anyways
Grendyl is dead
In the book they were just stalling the Necrons, they weren't even close to fighting them to a draw.
The Silent King just left once the threat was ended more or less
Clearly the necrons at this moment does not need to invite a full conflict, as Trazyn concurs
They don't care to, it doesn't mean they couldn't.
Its not even clear what the Silent King's whole goal is rn.
what?
Trayzn's opinion on bigger matters doesn't really...matter also.
In the grand scheme he doesn't have much political power overall.
Moreso the opposite tbh since no one trusts him
It's pretty clear to me that necrons need humans to help with biotransference and waking up his subjects
They probably do, which is why they aren't wiping them out completely.
But we don't know what his plan or goal is.
who knows they could probably 3d print themselves flesh bodies and just pour themselves in
we don't really even know how biotransference worked or who did it arguably
If they could they would have done that themselves long ago I suppose
It rock until you realise you kinda can't have much fun any more
That looks like more of a challenge coin
Also they might not actually have free will anymore
A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion, bearing an organization's insignia or emblem and carried by the organization's members. Traditionally, they might be given to prove membership when asked and to enhance morale. They are also collected by service members and law enforcement personnel. Historically, challenge coins were presented by ...
Basically modern form of portrait medal
i was mostly just pulling your dingus but thanks for the link
it's funny to imagine people showing each other the Ultramarines coin
wait why is this bad
far away from combat
no tyranids, >no necrons >no 16 hour factory warehouse jobs?
Are the sewers underhives?
Then the chance of necron or tyranid is nonzero and uh, hive city gangs, mutants, heretic cults... xenos, who the fuck knows what else
It's a dumb meme
you gonna catch space cholera
what kind of xenos?
Whats the difference between the spacehulk deathwing librarian and the darktide psyker in terms of power? lore wise
Not entirely sure. It varies from psyker to psyker and librarian to linrarian
Probably that one of them is a space marine
Most likely Genestealer or minor xenos
The Librairian are taught more and are using better stuff
The difference in power between a space marine and a normal human is pretty drastic inherently.
If both are psykers then the space marine has access to better tech and training but.
Otherwise I don't think becoming a SM make a Psyker stronger in their Psyker stuff
Thing is that if both are psykers and can counter each others psyker powers then all that’s left is a physical contest.
And I’d personally bet on the space marine.
maybe in physical power and durability i guess, does the space marine power armor amplifies the librarian psychic power?
space marines kill psykers all the time
They have the psychic hoods and better tech.
i remember in the fan movie astartes the 2 psykers riped out the gold of the statue to put it on their face and body to amplify their power
Though a human psyker can kill normal space marines. In throne of light a psyker that’s like 17-19 and infused with some chaos training rips several primaris marines apart.
Space Marines also have superior mental faculties so I imagine that gives them a much better element of control.
While Astartes is no cannon
And it's very much SM w#nking
But the Astartes Psyker are quite strong
More than we are I'd say
really? cuz somebody said they belong to lower lvl ones, maybe not that low but
why did they put gold tho as masks?
amplifies the power?
Well they are on the level of Primaris Psyker I'd say
As for the masks, not cannon so who know
Keep in mind that power levels in 40k are subjective as hell and are whatever the writer needs them to be. That’s important to keep in mind in every discussion.
Might house their telekine hoods
if they were stronger they could have ripped that space marine apart? it was hard for them to do it, the helmet started cracking and all but still
Potentially yes.
It could have been a power issue. They could have been panicking a little because getting charged by space marines is terrifying. Make any excuse you want.
Do any tech-priests get stuck doing shit on Catachan?
I imagine the priests themselves wouldn't venture outside of HABs, and are fleet-side unless needed.
Since Catachan imports all of its stuff it stands to reason there’s an Admech presence there.
Maybe engine-seers? For keeping the flamers in good shape. Since otherwise the jungle gets bitchy.
Enginseers are the rank and file of the Admech priesthood for precisely that kind of work.
ye lol they kept suppressing fire all the time lol
that was fun, they kept getting blasted by telekinetic waves yet they still kept firing
I imagine once a hab is nice and regulated you can relegate any but major maintenance to servitors. It'll be fine unless the flamer squads get Jumanji'd and the hab is eaten by plants.
I… am back, but there’s a lot and the guy sitting next to me is practicing some kind of martial arts…
yeah
some of them gotta research the jungle
which I imagine sucks serious ass
The Tau do use sterilization, the farsight books confirm it.
They don’t use it but an earth caste scientist specifically names it as one of many potential tools for colonizing and integrating certain species.
There is no Ad. Mech. presence on catachan
That is on its soil, probably there are quite some on space station to experiment on stuff
Nope
they send explorator fleets there sometimes but they're unsuccessful
it's in one of the Imp Guard books from like 2005 or some shit
Not even that
No need to send explorator fleet in a well know system and planet
Sure
Btw speaking of Catachan. I discovered the Imperator Salvus a few hours ago and I gotta say...
Catachan Sororitas? GW can do something right.
Old lore is always a fun read
The true diversity of life on Catachan has never been catalogued, though many Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator expeditions have tried and failed.
from this book
in the astra militarum omnibus or whatever
Ah, i see, we meant the same things but with different name
I said they might keep a presence on space station on orbit to experiment
But those are not explorator fleets
Which.
At the end of empire of lies.
The earth caste scientist scene.
also in Deathwatch core rulebook
The Sept’s humans (referred to by the Tau as ‘Gue’la’) adhere not to the Imperial Creed, but to the Tau ideal of the Greater Good. The Tau teach that the perfect society, one modelled after the Tau themselves, has a place for every creature; with every creature in that place, fulfilling their assigned roles without question, for the good of the Sept as a whole. Imperial religion is prohibited and the Tau Water Caste run education (and re-education) programs that instil an understanding and love of the Greater Good into the sometimes reluctant gue’la minds. Populations are regularly sterilised to prevent population growth outstretching Tau methods of control. Human transgressors against the Greater Good are not publicly executed, as is the Imperial way, for the Tau see no need to publicise the fates of those who oppose them. Instead, such gue’la simply disappear, and it is the way of the Greater Good to convince oneself that they never existed at all.
I have that guy blocked though so he probably won't see that
Want me to copy it ?
I still love the regimental standard
honestly don't give a shit
Good, best way to move in life
appreciate the sentiment though
Tau also sterilize the hell out of people in Dark Crusade
the most Excellent Warhammer Game
And in soulstorm too
Ok. Literally everyone acknowledges that Phil Kelly has his own universe that he writes in because he proactively doesn’t read any other tau lore. So i can talk about everyone else’s lore or I can talk about Kelly lore but they don’t mix.
Now- Velk’han Sept is a bit different, but it’s imperial populations.
And dark crusade says in the same sentence that it was the population being divided, not the assumption of sterilization
HEY! It was what got me into warhammer!!
But this is Deathwatch?
Imperial humans are “Gue’la”
Humans who join the tau are “gue’vesa”
well yeah I'm not saying it was bad
I'm saying it got a bad rap
More that you cannot accept the truth honestly
Tau are not good guys deal with it
… I mean, mosey through Reddit or any of the tau discords
Tau Stans and not accepting any lore which makes their faction not wholesome good boys 100% morally righteous
Name a more iconic duo
And I can accept it- but it’s just you have to divide the two
In Kelly’s lore Shadowsun is from Vior’la and had no other family
Farsight could FTL even without FTL
and Vash’ya isn’t a sept it’s a naughty thing you do that gets you mind wiped or executed
hey if you reveal this message my guy - go bang blue cow people if you love them so much
lol
It’s copium to think otherwise
Lots of points were given that had nothing to do with kelly, and yet you didn't accepted them
I mean if we are allowed to pick and chose the part of the lore we want...
Oh look. A 12 year old.
Velk’han is an interesting sept… I said that
It’s also where Fehevari’s work takes place
And is a region out of control, like those are your grimdark tau right there. The water caste is mostly in charge after they assassinated the ethereal council
You know about the story about the human and tau detectives used as bait for genestealers by ethereals?
Or the xenophobic sept?
Like on T’ros, or the atrocities of Brightsword
Or how tau do preemptive strikes against worlds that might not bow to them?
Is that indicative that the entire society is morally bankrupt or playing to, lit, “the greater good”?
When though?
Or how they are subtle diplomatics that try to make others uncomfortable to have easier time getting what they want?
Because Brightsword tried to attack the imperium after being censored with a mercenary army and the tau let an imperial kill team assassinate him to avoid all out war with the imperium
There’s plenty of examples of tau doing shitty things- they just aren’t fisted so ineloquently
And again- it’s always for the greater good
Yes, it is if you have eyes to see behind the curtain of nice smiles and similar... This doesn't mean that they are super evil or comically evil like chaos, this just mean they are not good doing guys... They have their interests, and when interests get threatened or others simply don't comply they get the gun in the face treatment...
Heh fisted
Is Psyker stuff genetic ? And would 2 Psyker always make Psyker babies ?
Jesus Christ. @barren tapir you talk like a wannabe priest.
I don’t think it’s consistent
Same with blanks
Nah, i talk like someone that had too many interactions with blind tau fans
^
😂
unlike the fans
Yes genetic, no not certain that the childrens would be psykers
I have a simple question. What Space Marine chapter is closest to Tertium Prime?
Do tyranids originate from Detroit perhaps?
Probably IF?
Probably none
tyranids obviously come from Florida
Imperial Fists
Or australia
no, its florida, currently they have a spore cyst for governor
mmk thanks. The question has just been bugging me for a few days but I'm not seasoned enough in the lore.
I mean think about it they’re constantly stealing shit just like the average Detroit resident
You literally won’t acknowledge anything by I’m saying. But it’s cool, you made a new friend with eternal.
I have to ask a florida guy i know about this
DeSantis is most definitely a tyranid impostor
and future president
don't forget to give him the customary gift of meth before asking for the seer's eternal wisdom
I read you, and i know what you are talking about because it is not the first time i deal with such kind of fan, i know well what tau do, it is not me that ignore what they regularly do, you seems to lack some part of their lore
tbf all politicians are nid cultists
Orks ?
look at Liz Truss
not like, any examples, just look at her
whats an aegis station
Defence station/garrison
the entire mechanicus just busted
Mars is now white
"it deserved it dressed like that" -some tech priest
the true horus heru$$y
… ok Saturday morning villain.
Please, at least i wish to be a Monday level villain...
Hehe there’s a funny little guy inside my gun
-Zagreus Kane probably
looks like I need to read more HH books
Oh, and be careful to not fall under the influence of khorne like it happened to tau on Bor'kahn during a raid iirc...
Horussy
Who the fuck gets to watch cartoons on a Monday?!?
1 horussy 40,000 warhammers
I’d let horus rearrange my guts in both ways tbh
It’s Bork’an. And everyone falls under khorn’s influence- that’s like… his thing.
Read Eye of Terror. Loyalist space marines are influenced by him.
Lol
Blood for the Emperor! Skulls for the Golden Throne!
what you guy think inside box the Emperor left for mankind
what box
The terminus decree?
yes
||the secret to why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch||
the only way to both engage in eternal war and not fall under Khornate corruption is to have some sort of concurrent immunity to warp bullshit:
Craftworld Eldar forcibly suppress all emotions and fight with utter dispassion, and their warriors regularly "switch paths" to some new focus like farming or jewelcrafting or poetry.
Necrons are soulless and thus immune to warp corruption.
Orks revel in war, but they do so almost as a biological necessity (which means they aren't facilitating Khorne through "bloodlust"-styled emotions like hatred or rage) while also attributing their kills to Gork and Mork.
Likewise with Imperial humans, they attribute and dedicate their wanton slaughter to the Emperor, which means that although Khorne has some influence on them potentially, it's countermanded by their superior conscious faith in another godimmortalatheistmummysuperpsychicgalacticconquerorwhodefinitelyisnotagod
Tyranids are fundamentally just animals, while also suppressing the warp with the hivemind shadow, so they aren't meaningfully affected by any sort of Chaos infiltration.
That leaves, in my mind, Drukhari (who probably could fall under Khorne's inluence but for the fact that they're secreted in the webway), the T'au (who have minor warp signatures but can definitely become corrupted without knowing it because they're grossly ignorant of Chaos), and renegade humans (who regularly fall to Khorne)
A half eaten sandwich
basically, "if you've got no soul, you're hiding somewhere where Chaos can't reach, or your bloodlust is offered up to a different god, then Khorne derives power from your actions but can't easily directly corrupt you"
It would be funny if the emperor's personality is really just a psychic gestalt
And he's a jerk because people are jerks
it'd be funnier IMO if the emperor was just dead
they've been feeding the astronomican pointlessly
custodians are all pointless
What heresy does to a mf
it would be a major retcon but it would be great
Yeah but I like the term “psychic potato” more than dead corpse
"So anyway, the astronomicon works just fine when you unplug it from the throne. Apparently it was designed to be powered off the palace's generator rather than whatever thousand damned souls feeding through this life support system thing you have going."
heresy
heresy is strong in this chat were is inquisitor
the ultimate La-Z-Boy
he is the chair
seriously this would be great
"oh that warp portal? it just kind of ... closed. guess the whole "Magnus" thing wasn't super necessary"
And I’m gonna sit on him
they should just kill him and let him respawn
That's actually one of the plotlines in the old inquisitor gsme
"Oh the pipes that pump liquified psyker? Yeah we figured it out. It's supposed to be a catheter, it goes into a sewage bin under the chair... Basically we've been achieving nothing the past 10,000 years. Let's cover it up and pretend nothing has changed."
Weekend at Bernie's? Nah, Ten Millenia at Emp's.
how it end ?
They stopped making miniatures for it
it'd be great
plot twist
50k nights at fredperor's
It's right there in the subtitle
the corpse on the throne isn't even the Emperor
it's just Bob from Accounting
there was a mix-up and they tossed the Emperor's body in the garbage chute on the Vengeful Spirit
Emperors just on vacation out of galaxy
"Hello imperium what did i miss i was working on unfucking the human webway and what the actual fuck happened while i was gone?"
My favorite possibility that used to be hinted at is that the tyranids are coming here because of the astronomicon like it's a giant bug light
i dont know chainsword man play warhammer 40k ?
It is true, it is also not hinted anymore... It is a known fact, but not in setting yet
they done confirmed it in Pharos
ded
and who is Alpharius
Wasn't it sudo-confirmed that he may not be dead
I read that in the TTS voice
he got pretty hardcore killed by Dorn, I dunno
But why is Alpharius
Rogal Dorn brought Storm’s Teeth around. The blade cut down through Alpharius’ skull, and then tore free in a spray of blood and a detonation of light.
Rogal Dorn, Praetorian of Terra, looked down at the corpse of his brother.
seems pretty ded
I’d have to finish the Alpharius novel, but I’ve heard it confirmed Alpharius’ death.
is warhammer 40k series on disney +
Alpharius is pretty dead, Omegon is vaguely dead
Yeah, go visit Marvel+
The Omegon one is dubious at best.
It doesnt really matter
one of them is dead
and the entirety of Alpha Legion or at least the 90% serve chaos
It doesn’t.
people just run circles around grimdank with the Suspha Amongus Legion because upvotes
The book starts and ends with the same line.
“I am Alpharius. This is a lie.”
lmao
IT IS.
Ah, so the book is about as impactful as damnation of Pyrgos
So...we're not gonna talk about Angron being THE DUMBEST with Goge and Lorgar behind that?
C'mon now...
for names that is...
Fuck erebus
see the funny thing is
it's not based on the word "angry"
comes from the greek agrios
"wild, savage, violent"
"non-domesticated" when applied to animals
just kidding he's Angron because he's the Angriest
I had you though, right? I had you
I mean...GW is the only org that would use "cum" in it's Latin sense so i mean...even IF fake, it totally tracks
pretty much every university does that
for a group, not in a normal sentence
"Hey John, can you hit this nail cum that hammer?" is something I'd say not normal
i'm confused lol
Seems like you dont want to live life to its fullest
summin' cum loudly
lol, real talk ; Hadron. I'm kinda spacing as to why tech-priest that's not an engineseer or maybe lexmech is with the inquistion doing stuff.
granted, aware they're on every ship but given admech's views towards inquisition, I find it hard that a tech-priest would be an agent under the willing context.
Assuming we have no backstory from most of the group that is
Any techpriest can be a part of any Inquisitor retinue
If the AdMech didn't work or contribute agents to (or barred their Priests from working with) any organisation they distrusted or looked down there would be no techpriests in the Imperium.
for sure it's a standard pick
the entire point of an Inquisitor is also to appeal to the position of an RPG game-master
and basically allow any player to mostly pick any background/career they want before joining up
Naturally tho this also works great for books and other stuff outside the RPG boundries
Unless if the players want to play Inquisitor 🙂
Mhm 🙂
Right, but I'm caught up on the aspect of the wording "agent". In this context she's conscripted more/less
No because most 40k fans cant read
💀
hahaha
They've got their own Enforcer equivalent too.
this mod is a good mod, the only one so far I've seen with good patter
But then you would choose the next in the hierchchy to be GM's character
Lmao
fuck no
I'm not gonna bother with literal kindergardeners in general-chat
also Im way too hostile so reddit will twist all my words 💀
I go to GW the other day (bad decision)
whip out my booze
they tell me I can't drink in there because of the "Younger Playerbase"
smh
No with ogryn's "Why game no work? Why game no patch etc"
Just set the server on fire and let general sort itself out.
🙏
GW stores these days are retail rather than actual hobby stores/communities.
Sucks but they've got top tier distribution out of those stores.
Some I went to are great for getting together for gaming/hobbying
Yeah, it's somewhat dependent on the Store Manager but they've got rules they have to follow and the store layout/designs aren't meant for proper hobbying/gathering.
Like every single one I've been in has similar setups with the layout.
Meant to maximise display shelving space rather than stock, and with a nice big terrain board in the center.
again mostly for display
yeah that's been my experience
that's most big box stores nowadays really. i remember when "too many signs scare off customers" and then we'd throw up MORE signage
I don't really go to the store anymore because of that
why go when I can just buy it online with free shipping from GW, or 20% discounted at the LGS?
the LGS nearest me sucks though because it's full of people LARPING as WW2 Kriegers
start addressing them as numbers and see if they'll remember it after awhile
I do wish my LGS' would carry different paint brands
Instead of citadel and army painter
One day I'll find one with AK paints
Yeah I dont mind them but their price is tough
Except army painter but I dont really like their paints
army painter I quite like actually I switched almost entirely over to them
their speedpaint line I like especially well
I mainly paint for competition level and I feel their quality aint exactly that good for it
I paint for enjoyment mostly but I get good enough results from it imo
ok bad lore question, but how many psykers worth of the daily budget would the Emperor be if we fed him to himself?
The paint line that I actually enjoy from them are the washes
What?
they make nice washes definitely
you heard me
I legit didnt understand
so if the emperor were to consume himself
would that fulfil the requisite 1k psykers or would you need more/less
don't make no damn sense and you know it
So he would be killing himself?
well
Hm you're right that is a bad question
lets say a hypothetical scenario where he needed to keep doing his thing for as long as possible, but all the psykers dried up
how long would he be able to keep himself going
0 seconds
is that a pretty high confidence answer? how much variance are we talking
immediately after the drip dries up the astronomican dies
immediate endgame for all of humanity that is not self-sufficient
immediate explosion of the warp gate under terra obliterating every human life on it as an endless tide of daemons murderfucks the population
Are asking what would happen if Big E consumed himself or how long would he go without more psykers
the second one mostly, but also kinda the first
Uuuh I dont remember if there was something saying how longs Emps could go without the daily sacrifices
The throne is damaged in some way. The number of daily sacrifices has been steadily increasing.
He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Probably not long at all considering what's left is a skeleton
imo this means without the souls he ded
How many souls a day are we up to?
10K
1K is from Master of Mankind
eventually the Silent Sister says there is 1K, with 10x the caskets awaiting
It's definitely getting worser faster
Somebody hurry and wake the Lion from his nap.
in MoM the 1K was required for a few hours btw
6e codex says it's 4K souls per day
as always...
GW thinking 4K is a "big number" lol
From innumerable planets while humanity is inching closer and closer to being a psychic species every day?
Not really, no.
i'm saying we are clearly expected to say "wow, the Emperor needs THAT MANY dudes? he must be fucked up!"
when in reality 4k is like less than a drop in the bucket for Terra
I'm agreeing
That's nothing compared to the number of psykers put down by commissars every day.
The Only War book is based because it encourages psykers to get a comrade with the sole purpose of shooting the psyker in the head to mitigate psychic phenomena.
I assume an inquisitor being a psyker would be extrordinarily rare at best
Statistically speaking, Psyker are quite well represented in the Inquisitors
As in an inquisitor proper
Like its the only place where there is such a high concentration of Psyker
Oh yes, as proper Inquisitors
They still are a minority but still, quite a larger proportion that you'd think
I assume it would be ironic to have one in the ordo hereticus
Not really
The inquisition is hostile towards psykers, but accepting generally.
You might get your balls checked for witch-marks and signs of warp taint.
for some reason i made an inquisitor verson of harrier du bois in writing
But a psyker can go far in the inquisition.
The Inquisition isn't more hostile toward Psykers than the rest of the Imperium
It is the ecclesiarchy psykers need to worry about.
True
A lot of inquisitors like to collect oddities within their retinue. So psykers find an odd home there.
If anything being part of the Inquisition might be the best future for any Psyker
Apart from being a Telepath
What worries me is that one inquisitor that absorbed an ogryn psyker into her retinue.
Cassia
The Inquisitor lady had a Rune Priest in her retinue
Not to mention arent there some inquisitor philosophies in the radical end of things which appreciate psykers?
Because the inquisitors seem to be one of the few groups with religious schisms ironicly enough
I'm wondering if my dark mechanicus character in a game of Dark Heresy should be set on creating some sort of A.I. to be his prophet of the true Omnissiah.
Meanwhile navigators get by on better privileges but harsher hatred.
There are some radical inquisitors that would be declared heretics 100 times over if not for their position. They have a lot of leeway as long as they’re fighting chaos. Ends justify the means sort of thing
It's mainly because the Inquisition was the setting for a rpg, so they built various smaller/inside group for it
Somebody hasn't played Inquisitor Martyr.
I was about to say. It absolutely will kill you.
To be fair, it'll only drive you insane unless they're actively in the process of delving into the warp.
Then it'll shred your soul.
The Navis Nobilite are also insanely, unbelievably inbred.
To the point they need DNA tests and future seers to be certain a marriage won't end in a freak too horribly mangled fresh out of the womb to not get the ecclesiarchy's attention.
Depends on how much they use their eye.
I tried to for some reason translate harrier du bois from disco elysium over to being an inquisitor in 40k, and also decided to translate the weird skills shit to psyker bullshit
how stupid is that on a scale from 1 to 10
Navigators are predisposed to fairly normal inbreeding mutations at birth, but also have a higher chance of developing chaos mutations from just existing.
So habsburgs ^5 plus warp fuckery
Who the heck is Harrier du bois ?
main character from disco elysium
he is Most definitely on the radical end of inquisitors
No idea what Disco elysium is and what the link is with warhammer
nevermind i did a stupid character port thing. for some reason porting a character over to a different setting can be weird or interesting
I just don't understand what it is and why you mention is a lot of time in a lore channel
I though you were talking about something in 40k after a while
There's was going to be a scene where the navigator's handlers in Angels of Death shoot the first navigator before he becomes a portal
ep5
I'm hoping the next Wraight book explains what is happening to the throne
That would require GW put effort into their lore again for the first time in 20 years.
Primaris taught us they won't do that.
Primaris were made to adjust the scale of SM minis, as it was limiting the "regular" human minis and other stuff like that (And selling new minis foremost)
I would be fine with primaris marines if... y'know... every marine wasn't a primaris.
the models themselves at least are decent
You can't tell me the insular as fuck Carcharodons who can't be assed to fly the fleet in for repairs suped their marines up in a thousand years.
I do really like the modularity of the new primaris intercessor kit
stupid leg flanges aside
Screw the culture and beliefs of the different chapters.
All primaris. Same models, more plastic, more money.
the flying dudes I hate, as well as all the new vehicles except the Redemptor dread
castaferrum dread still MVP and my beloved
Eschew space marine
I quite like the flying dude with the welder face plate
Return to Kastelan
i don't get this at all. They should see what happens when you don't give a shit about the lore
for me these are the worst minis GW has ever released en masse
LotR: Rings of Power, Halo
FUCK these guys
Return to 30ft tall robot men that are all of them the Iron Giant in space marine armor but need a data smith nearby constantly reprogramming them or they'll fuck off in massive squads to follow the last highly precise order they received.
I like those heads
they're OK I guess
kastelans are so cool
This is why I love Inquisitor Martyr but hate that they nerfed the 5 Kastelan meta out of the game.
the tall ones are their leaders..
It has never changed
for every kastelan there is a
Welll actually the wierd part from that game is inqusitor kills a lot of chaos marines...
We shouldn't be surprised
i way prefer the retro 30k aesthetic
Primaris height was increased but marine height in lore has been steady for like, as long as 40k has had books and marine as they exist.
Not to mention marines have always had pretty variable height.
This bullshit is written by the same british fucks that don't know what a gun's slide is called, or the difference between a clip and a magazine.
Except Forge World chapter masters
Not that weird, the SM don't have plot armour for once
Who are always tall
finally another user who gets GW
where have you been
Keep increasing implies its been done more than once.
They increased their height once, for a kinda silly reason.
Here, talking shit once every few months.
i think he might mean that primaris are taller
I'm pretty sure I know what he meant but he said it like its a reoccurring thing
Isn't inventing new marine variants the height of heresy? Burn the fucking train alive for being a heretek
When it happened once in like forty years
They increase the model height all the time
in the lore
Ah
no, burn the train alive for giving us the king of lores
Actually it is the biggest weakness of the game.. even Eisenhorn killed only one SM in his carear maybe more but the proportion is out of hands in that game...
the Arkhan Land lore
Depends on whose backing you and how you did it
With Cawl, he had the highest possible backing plus he was using the Emperor's notes
He just kinda figured out what he could from there.
That's the part I don't like
I miss Malcador
He didn't really invent anything, he just added what was planned but couldn't be finished.
And it took him thousands of years to do that.
And he only did what he could figure out
Fabius didn't come anywhere close to Cawl
Fabius didn't try to do what Cawl did
I wish there'd be more... problems? with primaris
malcador is very sweet
Fabius was making new people
Initially there were
I love when he chokes the shit out of horus
Cawl was trying to make slightly better marines
Well Eisenhorn isn't really from a Warrior Conclave, and there is still gameplay to make around the lore
like the dreadnaught that burns out the driver
At the end of the day we shouldn't be killing hundreds of veteran traitor guard or beasts of nurgle or daemonhosts either.
Its a game
Cheap fucking excuse for bigger marines
Oh but the emperor actually planned it all along
Seems like he had a good few thousand years to do that plan.
That's a very original complaint that no one has made before
Might've helped against Horus. Idk.
What year is it, 2016?
the emperor just kinda forgot about prime marine size
He didn't have time to finish a lot of stuff.
man you are such a prick all the time. is it not exhausting?
damn
Just tired of the endless bitching
Lol
you do seem to want everyone to just like everything in 40k
Same place you guys find it in your hearts to still yearn for the days of 40k where nothing fucking happened
sounds like you're projecting
It's hard to not take into account that SM are made for war and they basically hard to beat, so in this case Martyr screwed up... they should have just left them out
I don't care if they like it, its just these things are explained a ton.
And the complaints are half a decade old and boring af.
EoT? Dark Stars? Medusa V? Stuff happened all the time.
so if it's so boring then go fuck your girlfriend or something, lmao
damn
I know my wife would like me to shitpost on WH lore less
Valuable contribution as always
I will be honest, Primaris felt very shoehorned in the lore of 40k, especially after all the banter between the lore and design team, which is why Cawl may look like a Fabricator General since he was supposed to be one.
Implying that marines growing two inches is something happening
Uh huh
You're right, the only update to lore since 2016 has been marines got some height
silly me
definitely badly done
The setting hasn't changed at all besides that
emblematic of the new direction at GW
which is like "bulldoze ahead and the plebs will buy it"
I mostly agreed, I just find the complaints about it to be dumb since its explained, just say you don't like primaris and leave it at that.
Weird how this conversation started with me critiquing primaris, and how suddenly you were talking about more than primaris only to snap at me for not talking about fifty other books and games that have happened in the years inbetween.
it's because it was a late stage development- it was just going to be new armor
I think they could have just switched scale without the primaris, but I think that authors have made some cool storylines and ideas out of he primaris idea.
literally happens every time this guy needs anger management classes
the NHS pays for that you know
I think that is the issue to be honest, even with the Cicatrix Maledictum, a lot of things didn't change or , the changes weren't explained or retconned, such is the case of all psykers born from the other side wouldn't be able to be soulbound to the Emperor
You guys really take being wrong or misinformed about the lore super personal
Just buy a punching bag at this point. Or get married.
what's the difference
Last one is a bit dark chief
Yeah there's been some issues, I don't love it all. But I think a lot of the movement forward has been good.
LOL!
I'm sad too
Domestic violence is funny guys
Welcome to the grimdark future of overly edgy humor
I'm the punching bag in that joke you fuckin bell-end
learn to read
Of course, after years of stagnation it had to move, I just think it would have been handled better, atleast it was better done than End Times
Basically
the retcon shows how much they fucked up
this is the type of guy to buy Belle Delphine's bathwater
I think at the least Guilliman's arc has been well done
hard pass
They f up when Total War bought or licensed the IP now they are feeling sad...
Primarchs were updated guys. They're now all perpetuals. Thank you for listening
getting saved by the emperor at the 25th hour was stupid
Especially when a decent bunch of the retcon was actually good story wise but was deleted as it could have impeded on sales of miniatures
The only part of Rowboat Girlyman's arc that I dislike is all the fucking ships of him and the knife-ear.
bro I would not even be surprised
Godblight isn't great but most of the rest of it was good
yeah... but actually
Its more they couldn't have told a story without it.
Somebody wake the Lion up from his nap! I know goldilocks needs his beauty sleep but the Imperium is on fire!
me reading Know No Fear, enjoying myself
"hold on did Ollanius just talk about the fuckin Illuminati?"
sad
With the retcon things can happen now which we don't know the outcome to.
mad cause bad
I don't expect it to be amazing but overall interesting things are happening.
Gw is known about quality or quantity?
Quality for 40k is always loosey goosey
You wanna talk about arguments we've been hearing for years? Go the fuck back to star wars with your bullshit.
Mini is known about quality but lore is about quantity ...
Yeah but we're getting more 40k now. That automatically means what we're getting is good.
lol
Don't you know. More is better.
God I missed where I said that
Careful
I think I've actually said multiple times, its a mixed bag and its not all good.
You're one huffed fart away from being a shit based lifeform
I guess I'm still the one whose mad somehow
Nah I admit it
Meanwhile you're still stuck in 2016 malding over lore which still exists
Your blatant stupidity is infuriating me.
And is still being made actually
I'll let you figure that one out on your own
nah, I don't give a fuck
Trump Won
he sure did
hm. At least it's comforting to know it's not just tau lore that gets the feces flying.
Dah chu chu chwain made dah pwaht happen. Da' meen $)k gud 'gahn
I can't wait for Warhammer 50k when the standard marine is Primarch tier.
And Guilliman is the size of a Warhound
gonna remind people to keep politics out of all conversations here
lol, there's a lot of great takes here lol
this aint the server for it
it was a joke but 👍
joke or otherwise, bringing up politics is still bringing up politics
Anyways. About them Catachan tech-priests.
Think a Rogue-Trader might be a dick and force the Navigator to help out outside of the ship? Or are even they smart enough not to risk such an important resource?
well, you lose it and you're stranded so
probably the latter I'd guess
even Night Lords value the navigator when she's a slave
I've been kinda contemplating running a Navigator in a Rogue Trader game. But idk the point.
could be cool. maybe main navigator is on the ship and this one is a minor nobilite
out for "field training" or to get out of the navigator's room and adventure
there are often multiple navigators on a ship though
Might just go with a simpler abhuman species and run a nightsider.
backups, if you will
Depends on the RT more than anything but Navigators are basically the most important person on the ship typically.
Even moreso than the RT themself.
That's a good point. A minor nobilite could work.
But that also means they kinda get to do what they want
And the RT games are setup to let you do that.
the chick from Night Lords trilogy is that
I'd just go with whats fun
To be fair in our games the GM normally lets us run what's fun
we dont see enough rattlings... just saying
The Arbites I'm running can have a head AC higher than any space marine armor rating.
lol. wild
you kind of need it though
with how squishy the PC is in almost any Warhammer rpg
those wound tables are crazy
Unless you blow too much XP on sound con
no minmaxing when I DM 😠
I severely underestimated metal storm shells.
Ah yes. Bigerer frags. But really, they're just meaner bolter shells.
The fun of that game was running a Chastener and being a ganger's parole officer. A mighty funny excuse for being with the party.
I played a servitor one time that was the tool of the Inquisitor in that RPG
LOL!
basically they would give me a keyword series like
GO TO the MANUFACTORUM FLOOR and ENGAGE HOSTILES
Thats the best kind of GM
I was able to change 1 keyword each time to represent the unique archaeotech
Only War is also pretty fun. Surprisingly, being the meatgrinder of war is awesome.
Any GM whose a slave to the rulebook I've never enjoyed playing with.
I tend towards favoring psykers in these games. Even if the Commissar lingers over your shoulder any time you pull Warp Lock.
Black Crusade I hear is also very fun
but dependent on DM
you don't want the "Edgy DM"
I'm very lucky with my gaming goup.
a GM had one of us secretly be an eversor but rolled randomly to who it was near the end
everything about the player was a programmed personality
mine's alright but there isn't enough variety because we're all Orthodox Jews
similar philosophies and lifestyles
My GM will hit us up like "Alright fuck it. Steve wants to play a space marine. 12k experience each. You are getting ONE (1) Mentor Marine that's going to babysit you through the battlefield"
Deathwatch's only issue is it can get really boring if the DM isn't good, it needs some interesting setups.
this is cool
IMO
RT and DH and all that tend to make the story and RP easier to do
As opposed to everyone being a marine
But when DW is good its great
12k experience is enough to get a psyker to an easy 9 PR, and some fun abilities. If you don't mind not having skills.
What PR would you say is equivalent to a primaris psyker?
uhhh
Got no clue
Most of the groups I've played with try to avoid psykers lol
No I mean a Primaris psyker.
Just cause FFG made them so broken
maybe like a 10-15
Like the little girl that brainwashed a hive world.
somewhere there?
There's art somewhere of a primaris psyker stopping an orbital bombardment with their brain.
There’s a new book which just came out
It goes into how Primaris are trained and found
And how absurd they can be
And how rare they are because they tend to get snapped up by the Inquisition
Or some other faction
Fanart most likely. Don't remember any offical art like that.
Definitely fanart
I know the concept is official, and there's some about.
There's a lot of weird psykers though. Again, like the Ogryn.
The Ogryn Psyker is (For the natural one) extremely rare and due to the Cicatrix malledoctorum or whatever it's called
b-but-but they're...alpha sigma epsilon keter level pysker!
Alpha plus don't really have an upper limit
It does when you make them into scps
Like the Malcador, the Emp, Magnus are in the same category as any Alpha + cause there no reason to make other categories
Because they are rare
We had some great banter for a minute. One of my psykers looked his commissar in the eye and said "You are only the second most terrifying woman I've met."
Or explode
is "killshot" a unit type?
no sir
So would a killrock apply the same logic?
Um, fo tha god emprah?
when a shot kills someone, it is a killshot
a “shot” is something that comes out of a gun very fast
“killing” is causing the abrupt end of something’s life
So if I threw a baseball with enough force it would be called a killbaseball?
well, no, it's not called a killbullet
