The one who look like Mom from Futurama
The Shipmistress Brahm or something close
the Shipmistress
You know what's fun to do? Speculate on what role some piece of equipment served in the Dark Age of Technology.
Like the lasgun. What did they use it for if they were so advanced?
My best guess is it was like, a frontier weapon for settlers or something
You know Lasertag
I just figured it out. The emperor is the Antichrist the bible speaks about if he were successful. He destroys all religions ushers in the golden age!
He is the God emperor
sister definitely
like asking "would you rather have $20 or $1,000,000?"
SoB
i am volcel so none
i do not want to imagine why a dark eldar wych would want to have sex with me. probably some bestiality kink of hers. No thanks
They did, and the writers are quite good... It cannot be said the same for many people that know jackshit about lore but feel entitled to criticize the lore of the game anyway
arigato
Not every battle has a space marine. And I thought the lady was a rogue trader?
No, you’d be flayed alive.
that happens AFTER
I was going to say at least that means I die, which is GOOD cause I'm trapped in the dark eldar's doimain
but who am I kidding, she won't let me die after that

I'll become a couch, or her hat or something. A fate worse than death 😞
at least someone have sex
No current information if she is one. We only know that she is the Shipmistress
our ship is too small for a rogue trader
A rogue trader can have as smol of a ship as they want
The front banners on the ship also have the Rogue Trader sigil
Huh, I never noticed.
I did find the 4 guardsmen that died in the game trailer though
They're suspended above one of the entrances to hab block dreyko
lol
not all rogue traders are fabulously wealthy with gigantic ships
they can be from an old family that's fallen on hard times, or they can be someone who only recently came into possession of a writ of trade who hasn't had time to build any kind of wealth
or
their ship might just be small
not everyone establishes trade routes to traffic bulk goods
That’s a pretty detail actually
Yeah
If you have Marrow as your mission giver, he'll say "One of our recon squads from before all this happened" or something
I took a screenshot earlier but forgot to post it here after the game
What, where
He changes what people perceive him as
But we all can guess that he is an old man
Huh
entrance to hab drayko
Who is at 6 feet
suspended above
The emperor is a psyker. He just uses his psyker ability to change what what others perceive him as
Sad
Lol
5'1"
man, Enclavum Baross is awesome
There is this 40k animation I cannot find for the life of me and I thought here would be a good place to ask to see if anyone can scrounge it up lmao.
Is it a death korps of krieg one
Bcs if so the guy deleted it after getting bullied by the 40k community
There’s some reuploads tho
All I know is that it's a bunch of Guardsmen and one Space Marine who gets absolutely slaughtered by a Chaos Marine, and throughout the whole animation countless of guardsmen keep throwing themselves at the one guy.
there was a tank in it, too. I remember that LMAO A
It has disappeared from my YouTube watch list
It might have been?? Idk
Yeah it’s the death korps of krieg one
By sodaz
I’m not sure if that one got reuploaded
damn
Bullied? Why?
Because he dared to read an email from GW offering him employment
Because a wide majourity of the 40k community are assholes and manchidren who cannot get over themselves.
No fucking joke
well given kriegs modern reputation
He wasn’t even gona take the offer
And he literally said that in his community post
He proceeded to get bullied
God forbid the guy further himself and his productive career, lmao.
Does anybody know where the special information for guns went? For example the lucius helbore having a description about being from Krieg?
What a weirdly petty thing to be mean to someone over
And threatened to get doxxed
I don’t blame him for stopping the 40k animations
Bcs Jfc
Lucius hellebore is from the forgeworld Lucius
It’s commonly used by the dkok
too bad those chaos space marines are no match for Ciaphas Cain hero of the imperium
Welcome to the 40k community from my understanding. So many man-children who have not and never will feel the hold of someone's hand in their own.
That isn't really what I asked, but it is a Krieger standard it quite literally said so in the weapon description, which I am currently trying to find again.
Did they really just remove them?
40k is a fun community to not fully be a part of
No you're Wolf
doesnt sound worse than the average star wars fan
What’re they like?
rabid
hive minded
gate keep kings
the average star wars fanatic is like the mad king from game of thrones
Allowing yourself to get deep enough into a fandom to where you become deeply affected by other people's opinions is a separate matter than the IP itself
Bro we don't gate keep things, okay? Just because the prequels and the sequels really suck, and the original trilogy is still the only good thing to come from the SW universe doesn't mean we tell people what they can and cannot like!
Every fandom has its toxic side more or less
Star Wars is just a larger one because its such a big IP
40k would be the same if it had that much public appeal, so its a shared can of worms in any predicament

Wait until darktide makes 40k big (as if it isn't already)
This for legal reasons was a joke

Joe Moment
Joek
I wonder if theyll do anything with the plaguebearer runes
Witchfiner i have a shitpost to do
Online fandoms are horrible. Been playing for 25 years now, literally since I was 9 and spent countless hours at tournies/hanging at the FLGS, I can count the truly bad interactions I have had on my hands.
In real life a lot of the people who suck get rightfully ostracized. Online it’s a free for all.
Yep
Welcome to the Internet, the home to all of humanity's toxic waste.
Eh online fandoms are fine, but it's like gardening. You gotta be diligent if you want your experience to be good. Gotta always be trimming the hedges, spraying for pests and pulling the weeds.
If you just let yourself engage with anything or anyone in a fandom, your gonna eventually get burned out
The manager at the Warhammer store warned me 💀
Its more or less what we are doing here
the subreddit people are complaining that we are banning people for shit-talking the game when the only bans in the last 2 days have been just transphobes
I have really enjoyed this chat. I don’t do Reddit, dakka is a pile and out of my friends I’m the one who has listened to like every audiobook in existence since I listen while traveling for work. I have actually read some stuff here that I didn’t know and some takes that were really fun.
Imagine being a transphobe in this day and age 🤢
I used to slap rats. Now i shoot gats and hope it will be as good as slapping a rat.
what are the intricacies of ork teef economics
There aren't many
Teef get broken down over time
So you krump your rivals to have more teef
More teef more good
More krumping = higher inflation. Orkz need to chill out
That's one way to see, not a bad one to be honest
If your conviction falters when met with a trans person, what does that say about your conviction in the Master of Mankind when it is challenged?
Hey don't put us Chaos followers in the same pack as those guys
Slaanesh accepts all
Chaos gang?
John Oliver had a bit about Puff Daddy changing his name like eight times so people can learn trans names easy enough if they weren't pricks
oh god waht did i misS??
We prefer cult
Yo so how are the inquisitors we’re playing as not being corrupted by the overwhelming amount of the grandfathers blessings in Tertium
Fuck the corpse-emperor. Embrace chaos
we are not playing as inquisitors
at best a warband, at worst a penal legion
not retinue either because we don’t even see the inquisitor in game
You join the inquisition at lvl 30
that doesn’t make you an inquisitor
My mistake your right
no worries at all pal
Some terming shit like that still gets me caught up
easy way to tell is that only inquisitors have the rosette
the I with three bars
we dont even know the ordo afaik
Ahh ok I appreciate the correction
probably hereticus
I would assume ye
but to answer your real q
we are most likely getting corrupted yes
no one in lore who would be in our position would survive
if they survived the missions, then they would likely be either killed by the inquisition or rendered a servitor (less likely)
I figured it was some god emperor level plot armor lol
No way you could walk through all those plagues and get swallowed by a beat of nurgle and come out unscathed
scale of stuff in max difficulty darktide is more appropriate to a space marine’s tasks
honestly
even seeing a daemonhost at all will drive most people nuts irretrievably
This too I was surprised they got added
Oh so normal people shouldnt just be bonking those?
That kind of power vs 4 relatively normal humans (or ogryns)
how bout vs a chaos spawn?
a daemonhost?
They fuck shit up
DH wins versus spawn easily
Host fs
if we're talking lore a spawn is just a failed chaos aspirant who is all mutated up
a daemonhost is a full on daemon conjured into a physical shell so it doesn't need to sustain itself in the realspace world
Are psykers super common? like can most humans jus be popping some fools head?
extremely dangerous, more so than many daemons
not really
psykers are more common with humans becoming more psychically able
there's roughly 1 psyker for every billion humans
i see so more powerful than an ogryn?
Entirely depends on the planet
some got more psykers than others
incomparably so yeah
"1 in a billion" is a bit too far fetched
theres a reason black ships get a ton for the tithe from virtually every imperial world
I dunno, there are quadrillions or more people in the Imperium
it depends what we're talking about re: psyker
are we including all navigators etc or are we talking sanctioned psykers
Navs dont really count
why not, they are psykers
they are all from noble families + are born from incest
how bout people who can pop heads?
Psykers are more the many ones
Thats just a psyker that knows biomancy
There's different levels of daemonhost. The more bound they are rhe weaker they are
So apparently it's less than 5% of the total population
I'm talking like Cherubael
For Psyker
more like .001%
with the scale the imperium operates
Psychic abilities range in strength too some people could merely read minds while others could genocide a planet via the mind
Cherbael is like almost independent he is a very unusual case
I mean that's fair. tabletop daemonhost then
5% and 1 in a Million
1% of 10 billion is 100 million. seems like too high a ratio to me
Why don. we try to kill the inquisitor before they kill us 😆
I mean the 4 player characters slaughter their way through like 500 bad guys per mission that's definitely in space marine territory in terms of resiliency and killing power
Most Psyker aren't really able to do much
I'm aware that's from sisters of silence codex
Codex or short story ?
the short story was published in the codex IIRC
the one about the black ships yeah?
iirc it said 1 in a million are psykers and 1 in a billion are blanks
Theoretically 4 veteran guardsman should be able to take on... 4 veteran guardsmen
yea why are we doing this and not loke actual marines?
however James Workshop has never been good with numbers and they are best ignored there haha
Because the design of the game is normal guys
I feel like realistically if chaos corruption was this deep rooted on a world exterminatus would be considered more heavily but obviously then we wouldn’t have a game so
hard to simulate their abilities in games
like transhuman dread
I see
Because they already did a space marine coop shooter
super garbo
wdym garbo lol
How do you mean Garbo?
enemies literally run away when they see the ogryn get close, its more or so the same thing
its not hard to implement
Fatshark just doesnt want marines in the game
This is more fun as a scenario but maybe they should have made the game harder
sprint is 80km/hr
Thats also wank lol
whatever dude write a letter to Games Workshop lol. that's published canon
SM stat by meme go Brrr
Marines are literally portrayed like Agents from the Matrix at times which is like incredibly goofy considering the amount of mundane shit they die to
I don't disagree it's stupid
Like maybe taking on a squad of traitor guard should have been a serious challenge
jogging at 60km/hr lol
and not reflective of tabletop
Instead of like 30 seconds of shooting and slashing
Singular one would be more appropriate
Though I prefer the Termi
With the Giant Contagion Flail
Kind of agree the power scaling is a biiiit off but it’s really fun lol
the drukhari run so fast they blur light, lmao
warhammer is dumb
And they are slower so easier to portray
The problem is the player characters would be way too squishy if they took hits like mormal
it was written by 80's cokeheads to sell plastic army men
Though maybe they should have given us armor that works
Lol^
Well we do have some better weapon than simple lasguns
Like a Plasma would be quite good against a SM
Are guardsmen considered elite?
My guy has a lasgun, a knife, and some grenades
No
the opposite
oh, the cannon fodder?
But we ain't Guardsmen
Truthfully they are elite but the things they’re fighting are so fucked they become cannon fodder
Guard are elite compared to planetary defense forces or militia
oh i thoight veterans were guardsmen
Ex-guardsman yea
Yes, but they hae access to better stuff than the regular Vet
But it's 40k so literally everyone is the best of the best baddest warrior who spent 40 years training to be the best
well better than zpmbies i guess?
tbh i'm glad it's not space marines, i'm sick of 'em haha
And then a kid with a Melta come and ruin your perfect martial art
I just try not to think super hard about the lore ramifications of what’s occurring in dark tide cus it’s so fuckin awsome
honestly the sooner you abandon the lore as stupid the better. it was never a serious setting
Like space marines are usually recruited from the galaxy's most badass 12 year olds who have been fighting and killing since they could walk
Agreed but could use some more games with them that aren’t top down or strat
Ferrus Manus the Iron Hand, dad of the Iron Hands, on the spaceship Iron Hand
Lmfao
Lion El Johnson named after Lionel Johnson
That actually happens historically though
his most famous poem? Dark Angel
Actual names get forgotten and replaced by weird titles or trafitions
Roboute Guilliman named after Robert Gillman
the UN chief at the time
Rogal Dorn means "Imperial Fist" literally translated
Khorne's head Bloodthirster is Genghis Khan
etc etc. it's dumb the whole way down
Like how most people think jesus was actually first name Jesus last nsmr Christ
Or a certain ork chieftan is named after a famous british head of state
How strong is an ork?
strong enough to pull limbs off a space marine
Extremely
As strong as a space marinr
👀
Maybe stronger
They krump marines with in melee combat all the time
Unless they are very young
despite marines jogging 60km/hr?
Orks have bad posture so they are slower
an ork straight up almost choked the Emperor to death on Ullanor
but red makws them go faster?
Orks just get bigger and greener the more they fight and win
Can’t forget about the Krorks lol
Or they paint faster things red
oh does it?
it's that and the waagh field which is often overhyped among fans
i see so they pretty stupid?
The ork belief powers mostly affects their machinery/weaponry for the most part.
Its less the paint and them believing it does that make sit go faster.
Isn’t yellow more dakka?
Blue is lucky
Ork spaceships have windows for space drive-by’s
Yellow is more explosions
yeah maybe. the gold guys are the richest
so more dakka
Ork spaceships have teeth to scare away warp creatires
Gotcha
orks are arguably the smartest in the setting when you think about it
they're having a grand time
they've got it figured out pretty much
Thst one quote from ulthuan the perverse or whatever
some knife ear yeah
Orc Roks are the best part of they’re lore lol
They have a perfect society
Thats more of a radical quote tho lmao
And mobile economy
its kinda the point
yea seems orks got none of the angst
orks only care about fightin and winnin
There's an entire fungal ecosysten that accomaonies them that supplies all their food and materials
They’re happy to be there and happy to be killing pretty much
or heresy they just give otjers the bonking
So they eat squigs and fungus
they are basically warmongering psychos more or less yeah
well they themselves are also fungus
That lives off of ork droppings
it's shrooms all the way down with Orks
do they eat each other?
yeah and gretchin
Yeah it's the most elegant solution to the "where are all the female orks" question
Just goblins mostly
squigs too
small and snack-sized
There's no female orks they're all asexual
There's no male orks
yeah that's pretty straightforward. it's also why you never really "clear" out the orks
they reproduce via cloning?
Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t squigs just a devolved subset of orks?
spores
They're mushrooms
Nah they are custom
oh?
no they're the same "race"
they spawn out of the fungus
and just
they were created for that role by the Old Ones
sprout fully grown?
Squigs are part of their ecosystem
Gotcha thanks
holy shit where is that from lol
Yeah lmfao
Old codex
That’s funny asl
40k
How do they distribute weapons?
they just make them and pass them around
big piles
i see
in 40k the meks make most of them afaik
but shoota and stabba are just big categories
they'll loot enemy weapons too
famously
👀
I heard the inquisitions not very popular amongst the space marines?
Orks start out as feral orks with just rocks and spears
like if some of em get murdered and all
not really
But eventually either loot metal or if necessary figure out metallurgy
But a lot also have old pacts woth inquisitors and will send forces if asked politely
also got grey knights and deathwatch
I see so i guess depends on chapter
how bout inquisition and the guardsmen?
And the inquisition also runs the Deathwatch which many marines send forces to and is considered a very prestigious honor to participate in it
Guardsmen like most people fearnthe inquisition for the most part
Some get temporarily assigned to an inquisitor by their superior
The inquisition has almost no formal power everything is based on feudal networks of power and alliances
Absolutely not
But on paper the inquisitors speak with the authority of the Emperor himself
READ.
They're literally called the left hand of the emperor
i guess Inquisitors also arent welcomed by the aliens either 😔
Considering every imperial is taught to be a massive racist yeah no
they can usually get aliens in their retinue but that will give you a sus-label

sussy inquisitor 👀
and i guess a target for other Inquisitors with nothing better to do
more or less yeah
Every inquisitor is different from each other for homebrewing/lore reasons
I see, any central body to arbitrate these things or is it jus kill em to declare em a heretic first?
Yes and Yes
the galaxy is big, you can kill some nobody inquisitor and make it look like an accident, if its a big-shot one though the Lord Inquisitors will probably hear of it and try to get to the bottom of it
👀
its a lot of ifs
Is there any checks or balances to stop an inept inquisitor from exterminatusing innocent populations?
Just prove him wrong.
If not shoot him in the face and over-rule his order
or kill em i guess?
fair enough LOL
^
thats so real
like the inquisitor conclave MIGHT court you and ask why you did this
just give a good reason and you'll be fine
something like how the guy was unhinged
And maybe imperial citizens cough cough exterminatus
and you did what was right
can you just make one up?
I wouldnt say so
and you'd say "he went insane and tried to blow up an important planet and also here's the powerful planetyary governor who's super pissed and is involved with all your business interests"
How do they exterminatus?
they have different weapons
Lots of ships over orbit and planetary bombardment
Fire a missile at a planet
Virus bombs too
Donezo
those r fun
Ancient superweapons like virus bombs (grey goo) and cyclonic torpedos (planet crackers)
A missile?
*Torpedo is what I meant
thats a good read lol
hey now i wouldn't inflict lexicanum on my worst enemy
How to tie them down for centuries
what if the people on the planet are unhappy bout being exterminatused? Is only recourse just murder the inquisitor?
here's my intro to the space marines
Not much to be mad about when your ash I reckon
it's 40k nobody's happy
☠️
orks happy i guess
^
Do the other factoons have anything they do to prevent getting exterminated?
oh?
It would be assumed most other factions have some sort of AA weaponry to prevent enemies from just rolling in and blowing them away
also most of the time there's a reason they're fighting
they want something on the planet or it's too valuable to just blow up
unless ur the 'crons then u just hate everyone
There's an introduction that's at teh start of every 40k book:
It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
and player characters are jus like lower than guardsmen scrubs?
basically yea rejected members of each of their particular trade
Fatshark said there would be no Space Marines in this game, and yet we have this
When will the lies stop?
#truthfirst
Lawsuit when fellas?
lol
the important question: What chapter are they apart of?
gotta be an imperial fist
Stone Standers
It is weird it looks like they're Mark X
The Stone Giants
The No Shows
If we ever get a reference to whatever the closest chapter is I guess its that one
what are some lore friendly names to give to your operators in darktide? as funny as it is i dont want to name my ogryn "shrek" or my psyker "jimmy"
The Brazen Claws
names work on star wars rules
named my ogryn Grumkus
Something simple
Pick a normal name and spell it funny
One syllable
or an old roman name
i jus randomize button
Ogg
Grugg
Krugg
Julian
The most famous ogryn in the galaxy is probably Nork Deddog
whats he famous for?
hey so. the Imperium Edition gear has cosmetics that call them "Mortis Operative" battlegear. What IS a Mortis Operative?
A lot of things
He's protected hundreds of VIPs and generals
Smartest Ogryn ever
He can count to four
And sign his name with an N
Killed an Ork Warboss with one headbutt
Are operatives just cannon fodder?
Because I know of things like the Mortis Dreadnought, etc.
👀
The description in game is just that its a special group of edgelords within the Warband
And of Legio Mortis that like. Followed Horus?
Its not connected to those
ooh ok
Legio Mortis is a titan legion
its just a cool name for an edgelord squad in the warband
Who like to cosplay as Ghost from MW2
Oh it's 40k like everythign is called mortis and has skulls all over it
It do be drippy
warbands just the Inquisitors personal army?
i thought ghost has a whole face mask
Basically
i need the bullgryn drip without the fugly ass camo
pretty much
though, again, it's 40k so wearing a skull mask is almost normal
they have carte blanche
There's no such thing as a "standard" for how Inquisitors operate
This one seems to like having a big army
this one is a mask with a skull plate over it
healthy even. repels daemons
the skull is the imperium's equivalent to a cross
so like they slather them on everything
Some operate more as detectives with very small groups.
i guess some operate mostly alone?
Some yeah
Some do, and som ehave massive organizations
The ones who like to buidl empires build empires
I was wondering if it was like "spec ops" shit more than anything if that was the equivalent. But I am not familiar enough to know if there is spec-ops Guardsmen?
weird shit in that retinue, too
There's tons of different spec ops guardmen
Other times they have massive battlefleets and whole regiments they have in their direct control
tons of em
Its why I ask! I wanna learn more.
scions, kasrkin are the most famous probably
Its just a thing made up for the game
Many different groups, some exist within a regiment or the guard proper. Tempestus Scions/Inquisitorial Stormtroopers are a notable and relatively common example.
Well, yeah. But its one of those things where it'd be fun to find context in the game as times go on, etc.
catchans too are probably spec ops yeah?
Idk. I like having a place for everything due to my OCDness.
i dunno I'm not military or anything
That's basically all we know
Marbo's basically a one man army lol
They're spec ops tacticool skull boys
More specialised than special ops, but they've got a notable amount of high skill operatives.
Probably do sneaky shit
I appreciate the info! I am working on drawing up a full character sheet/backstory stuff for my Veteran since the semester is coming to a close, so I wanted to like have some info I could build off of!
those roman auxilia dudes what fight with the Ultramarines too
It was either going into that, or it was going to be a former tank regiment member from Cadia.
wow this looks better than James Workshop's paint job
Yep! I got an outfit using it, too.
funky jungle men
damn that takes me back
3rd edition was peak 40k
I started at the tail end of 4th Ed and everything past that doesn't hold up to the absolute wealth of options, fluff, and granularity that 4th had on the table.
Though we're kind of in a renaissance of the hobby as a whole right now, things are better than they were in 6/7th Ed.
You guys play the table top?
i just paint minis and read funny books and play the games smh...
It's fun to move the painted minis on the board and roll dice.
hey yall i was wondering if anyone can direct me toward the language they use in the data interrogator fixing bit. Cant find it anywhere but im almost psoitive thats the imperial alphabet?
No. We are high ranking elite guardsmen level, but our official ranking is reject
Lmao yeah literally half/all of these are in there
How servitors are made:
Heresy! Quickly, let us lobotomize him and turn him into a stereo system for all of eternity
Anyone know what this 717 actually stands for or is from
yeah but those are used for languge or signs
Its an I logo, so its likely 77
I think it’s just their regiment or whatever
Thank 👍
just had a match (as psyker) with a veteran that called me enforcer most of the time, did i misunderstand or is that something that psykers are called?
or is that a title for ppl in warband?
also he said something along the lines of "both our orders one day getting along in the lexicanum" what is he reffering to?
What was the reason in warhammer fantasy they set up a whole conspiracy to deny the existence of the skaven
Mostly due to Imperials believing that if the larger Empire knew skaven existed the under empire would come out to entirely wipe them out.
This more or so just worsened the situation since the Empire is one of the few human civilisations in fantasy to deny the skaven's existence which always puts their soldiers and common-folk in a bad spot when they literally got no idea how to battle them
In Comparison to other races/regiments the tau have a clear advantage in winning the entire universe and destroying everyone else i dont know why this is even an argument, the tau can literally fist fight space marines
This is so true. Tau have above average melee when compared to other races
I think if darktide gets popular enough a Tau mini sequel would be absolutely broken insane
Firewarrior, pathfinder, stealth suit and Kroot? C’mon
I’d quit my job and cave in the hall to my office
7 is also Nurgles blessed number no? 🤔
Enforcers are like the street police, what was your voice type the Savant? Because in their little quip both Female and Male Savant worked side by side with Enforcers to help them solve crime
when u follow chaos gods worship them do you get bonus's perks?
what can I gain from worshipping any chaos god
At the end of the day you’ll always end up fucked
An execution from the Commissariat
looks like i get some powers tho, these nurgal worshippers look diff than normal humans
yeah im pretty sure it was savant (wish there was a way to check)
He looks like he’s having a great time
The nicest wish i think a chaos god has ever promised
Was tzeentch promising ahriman that if he did what he wanted, he’s straight up end his existence free of charge
Which for ahriman was a pretty square deal
If it was French it’s the female Savant, if it’s African it was the male Savant
Does Ahriman still have a body? Wasn’t all the Thousand Sons Astartes, they had their souls fused to their armor or something?
The ones who died to the spell became rubrick marines
The most powerful of their sorcerers survived and got great power
While the weaker ones died and their souls became fused to their armor
I think the deep voiced psyker used to be a cop
I bet it's the latter but it's never really been said
Just played the throneside level and enjoyed how all the poxwalkers are wearing like fancy clothes on that one
Or not poxwalkers but the ones who still wear clothes
Groaners?
The outfits match the maps it's pretty cool
I would assume so since they’re working under an Inquisitor
If they’re not officially sanctioned they probably at the minimum get a bit of slack
I'll throw it in my Psyker's username then
So what exactly is a demon possessed? How do they differ from the grunts and fodder we’re shooting at if they’re all being influenced by Papa Nurgle?
Think of them like water balloons.
Pox walkers have very little nurgle water in them. A possessed has so much nurgle water it might actually pop from the pressure.
i cant believe one psyker can destroy a world
and all that power is with one reject
too much power tbh
It's sort of hard to explain, and not all of the mooks we're fighting are exactly the same.
The big difference is that daemonhosts or daemon possesed are basically being worn as flesh suits by sapient demons. The sorts of daemons that posess people are usually fairly powerful too, though not usually as powerful a greater daemons.
The mooks we fight are just corrupted in various ways. The poxwalkers for example are infected by one Nurgles diseases, namely The Walking Rot, which kills you an reanimates your corpse. They aren't exactly possed by a daemon though, they're just hosts for a supernatural disease.
The other guys are just cultists and worshippers more or less. Maybe some of the bigger ones have received blessings or gifts from nurgle, which generally just make you tougher and harder to kill.
Only the strongest psykers have that sort of power, and psykers that strong a very rarely if ever actually sectioned because of how dangerous they are.
The sort of psyker capable of wrecking a whole planet would be called an Alpha class, and to put it in perspective, Tigerious the Chief Librarian of the Ultramarines who's often considered one of if not the strongest psyker in the imperium, has been called a Beta class.
Alpha classes are usually fed to the emperor
They’re almost never kept alive because they’re too unstable and too powerful
All it takes is one weak psyker to become possessed and then you have a daemon running around causing trouble
Or even worse they are pretty powerful and create some sort of actual warp gate
Yeah there is that, any psyker can become a daemonhost and a lone daemonhost probably could burn down a world.
Enslavers too which aren't daemons but are a weird warp alien that can turn a psyker into a horrible living warp gate and bring in mroe of themselves - they also have mind xontrol powers
Also all the other random ass warp entities
Unsanctioned psykers are a ticking time bomb
No a daemonhost is a specific type of possessed created by dark sorcery which binds the daemon to the will of the sorcerer
Depends on the lore you're looking at, there are bound daemonhosts and unbound daemonhosts.
Unbound daemonhost just means a daemonhost whoch has looser bindings
And is more powerful because it is more independent
And of course more capable of disobeying its creator
Daemons possessing someone doesn’t turn them into a daemon host
Daemon hosts are a specific thing
Possession is the more common occurrence and it can happen in lots of ways
None of them good
They can hide out without the possessed knowing sometimes
At least at first...
Or go the full exorcist route (by which I mean the movie The Exorcist)
Or just completely take over the body
can u train to be a psyker or is it like a space marine at a child u learn
No you're just born with psychic powers
Some people sre latent psykers and don't even know until later in life though
But usually you start showing your powers when you hit puberty
wow thats pretty neato
if i was a human in the 40k universe and wanted to join the tau empire would I be allowed or no also what would the humanity think of that
The number of psykers being born is slowly increasing which threatens the stability of the imperium
Any contact with aliens is an immediate death sentence
You must hate the alien
Wtf why
Because death to aliens
wow
can I join the necron race as a human would they let me?
No
lame man
So no
They'll kill you
The imperium is a little similar to the BOS in fallout. No mutants, No aliens, etc
pure humanity
Aliens will only betray you
They only want to take advantage of you
only trust in the emperor
Yes
Yes aliens are not only sn abomination but also being only trickery and death
This is humanity's galaxy by right
They enslaved humanity during the 5,000 years that humanity was at its lowest
The emperor wanted humanity to be the dominant species in the galaxy and we must obey his will
exactly. This and starship troopers
They sre related
More Starship Troopers the movie than the book
Though the book is also obviously an influence
I could definitely see that
Never forget the centuries of humiliation!
who's Saint Messilina?
I think that's an actual Catholic saint
got bitched out by a veteran for mentioning her in one of the dialogues
Master of mankind by ADB is one of the best looks into the emps plans imo. The imperium is and always has been a authoritarian shithole, but they weren’t always just insanely cruel/evil for fun.
They are essentially humanity after 15 years of generational trauma where faced with awful decisions they respond in the worst way and double down, and end up backed into a corner where they “abhor the mutant” because essentially humanities psychic awakening en masse almost caused mass level extinction.
Xenos same thing. Ai/ advanced tech as well. Humanity went from what little we know was a much more enlightened possibly “federation” style interstellar empire to a bunch of complete psychopaths who have been trying to survive hell being real, and your neighbor having a mental breakdown results in a entire system being ripped into said hell lol.
The morale quandaries of the setting are fun specifically because the threats are real yet the imperium is still literally “the bloodiest and cruelest regime imaginable” and The imperium takes these issues and treats them like well….insane fanatics raised on a backwards belief system that centers around 15k years of generational trauma lol
The thing I love the most is what happens when an entire society of people regresses as technology progresses to a crazy degree
It’s such a cool concept
Really is super neat. I was redoing a system at work from a guy who just up and dissapeared, ran everything for like 15 years, its amazing how things just "fall apart" because of 1 person, the concept of it being a galaxy spanning event is perfect to build off
You can’t help but simultaneously be impressed and disgusted at the Imperium of Man
The ability to stomach eldritchian horrors but still be able to carry on fighting regardless is . . . badass
Like how tf can the average Joe do all that
Oh yeah, with lots of mental programming that starts young
Lol pretty much. The cadian books are a good example of how they condition them. Average dude holding his daughter and making her stare at the eye until her nose is bleeding talking about killing the servants of chaos lol
They forsake compassion entirely for raw hatred towards anything non-human
It’s human to not be tolerant of anything new to you, but it’s also human to be able to extend compassion. The fact that they’re unwilling to embrace the other half that makes them people got most of the fucking galaxy at their throats for the foreseeable ever
It’s funny
Yeah I love the stories in the imperium of people being like "it doesnt have to be like this" lol it never ends well for them adding to the tragedy.
A bit unrelated but Commander Oskar Viltry probably ||gets the best ending in 40k||, in Double Eagle where ||he's officially declared dead so nobody will come looking for him as a favor for his actions but actually goes AWOL to be with that girl that he likes in the book and lives happily ever after for all intents and purposes. || One of the few times that's happened from the books I've read.
A happy ending? Unimmersive.
Double eagle is criminally under rated/unheard of book wise
I dont play aeronautica but I went out and bought imperial lightnings/tbolts/mauruders just to have because it was so good
He really did deserve it after The Guns of Tainth and the stuff that happened in Double Eagle to go along with it
My theory for dkok is that most are clones of Colonel Jurten, so that he can atone for his sin of destroying the world of krieg
Even when he's long dead he is still fighting
Messilina is the Tertium saint, she might even me the Moebian saint
At least I think this is correct
Might be getting her mixed up with someone else
My word ain't gospel unless I'm talking about Necrons
Was a great book on a subject not often covered in 40k literature
They basically super devout to emperor and church is all about him right
They do something especially glorious in the God Emperors name and are reborn as demi gods basically
Listened to it last year on audible while doing a seven hour drive
Christianity is all about God/Jesus and there are still Saints
Emperor=God
I just mean how they become saints
Is there a central organization that dishes out those titles
Like the Vatican?
They die in the Emperor's name
Then the Emperor resurrects them through Godly means and they become saints
There are 2 kind of Saints:
Imperial Saint: People who have done deeds and are recongised as being hero of the IoM (In the same manner as Catholic Saint)
I’m not Christian either so not sure got it worked irl either lol
Living Saint: Those that have power
Oh yeah, example: Warmaster Macharius=Imperial Saint Saint Celestine=Living Saint
Two recognisable ones
Basically people who know the person send a missive to their local Church who then send it to higher graded people till it's in the Vatican, at that point they chose to bestow Saint Hood on the person
Usually it's post Mortem
Imperial saints normally stay dead but Living Saints are resurrected to fight once more
Multiple times more
Not just once
Saint Celestine wake up after death in the Warp on a planet full of her own corpses
I think he meant brought back to fight again once more
Some only come back once and some (the more well known ones) are brought back multiple times
Depends, sometimes people do stuff and the Ecclesiarchy canonizes them as a saint, sometimes they're actually hopped up on the POWER OF THE EMPEROR and can fly or perform miracles and they're canonized as a saint. Sometimes they're some nobody who died but the Ecclesiarchy wants a convenient person to gather around and makes them a saint. Sometimes they're blessed by faith and fly or perform miracles but they're views aren't as strictly aligned so they get burned alive for heretical powers/being a witch.
Yeas, thank you
And sometimes some normal dude does something impressive and the Ecclesiarchy declares it's a miracle and makes them a living saint even though they aren't actually channeling any miraculous force.
Isn't Sigismund one?
I dont think he is declared a saint
Might just be seen as one by the Black Templars
Yeah
Not that many actually named really
Not too surprising
Even less living saints
But yeah, Garro and Sigismund aren't
ten minute timer in main chat 😭
I arrive here to ask expert 40k questions!
OH SHIT RIGHT, Achallor was declared a saint after saving a shrine world
Totally forgot
Died like a boss
Legendary
Love me any book that has Custodes
Oh shit didnt know Calgar was named an Imperial Saint
I should read the warzone books
legend status he deserved it
So!
ive been writing in warhammer-
or well- failing at writing, in warhammer.
ive been having this.. nasty thing
where i cant seem to make my characters matter when marines come around
Can't wait for the last Bequin novel
Her 👍 and yeah but the problem is
the marine and them are on the same side
the marine does everything she does.. just better because hes a marine?
I believe Sindermann goes on by saying Garro is the first declared matyr of the church but I forgot which book it was
Like holy shit, ||the Yellow King could actually be Constantin Valdor!?!? Alive in the 42nd Millennium!? Damn.|| - Huge Penitent spoiler
Dont know if matyr would be the same as a saint
Don't read if you have read the book lol
Don't involve marines?
Give her skill that the present SM don't
Make the marine a more distant character, make us care less by knowing less
Kinda nearly impossible on a battlefield.
Like make her able to use a vehicle or give her technical abilities
The marine is around but not interesting, it might work
Marines are basically machines and mostly uncaring with some uncommon cases
Make her a psyker of some kind
marines also have that.
Lexicanum says the novel Garro. More specifically the epilogue
Or give her faith/saint awakening since we were talking about that just before
like, i know they dont care
This is a good one
the problem is like- the marine is working with them on the battlefield.
They wouldn't be able to use normal vehicle
Too small
A marine can fit in a chimera
that is weird
Also chimeras are faster then marines
If they recline
Chimeras can fit an ogryn ffs
Yes, but maybe not in the driver seat
A marine can fit in the back
Marines have all their own vehicles
Why would someone having one make them stand out
I didn't mean it's all unique to them
Lol
Pretty much just a done up M113
gasp
They own a Honda
Which is where the idea came from anyways
4Runners still running in 40k lol
If you want inspiration I would recommend reading Spear of the Emperor since it follows a few human thralls who serve a marine but they are in the focus constantly, not the marine, he's mostly just an additional character
i mean yeah but
The techno barbarians using a Toyota heliux with a heavy bolter in the back
in comparison to the marine, on the battlefield, they are lesser.
thats like
the hole im digging myself into
and i would just not have them.
Give her an Engager shotgun
Ah yes, the volkite technical
but thats like, 80% of GW lore.
It is made to kill space marines
you miss the problem
shes working with the marine.
You laugh but it’s claimed millions of lives
Yeah but cool gun makes cool character
I’m sad the GSC didn’t get any technicals
I am
Maybe give her augmetics that let her do stuff the marine can't
Nerds get hit by death beam of death
not possible
Just wondering how Toyota re-branded themselves as the Mechanicum
marines are so diverse due to constant uhh
under-table activities by writers
it causes them to beable to do
basically anything
one marine went FTL
after grabbing a special spear.
Ok but YOU are the writer so you can decide literally anything about this marine
Super kek
what even is the side convo first lol
I want to make a gsc army now
sure
They have technicals
but if i were to share this anywhere
Damn stealers
Freedom fighter gsc
i get hit with "You are underselling marines, bad story"
like my last story
in which a marine died to a plasma pistol to the skull
Well pardon my French but fuck them, mortals doing crazy stuff is way cooler than marines
hell it happened because the marine made a choice of moving
Plasma pistol to the skull is lethal to 100% of everything
B R U H
Breaking news Marine beaten to death with concrete block
so what i was saying-
the entire problem is- like.
I write myself into a hole mentally because brain no likey
me
stg sometimes i feel like the Darktide Seer Psyker
Out of the box idea but what if you didn't include marines
thing is
its a battlefield
a notably one, that is
the planet is getting fucked 12 days to sunday
There are plenty of battlefields without any Marines
There are around a million loyal space marines in the entire galaxy, you can have a war without marines
The Guard usually deal with stuff like that daily
because too low and the war is just.. ww1 instead of space war.
Still there are plenty of bf where there are no SM and the Guard face the thoughest of opponent
any examples besides krieg?
Bring in some battle sisters or skitarii if you want the added sci-fi feel
Cadians, Harakoni warhawks, Catachan jungle fighters, valhallan ice warriors
Just a few
