i wanna use eversor's cool ass executioner pistol
I'm hoping they'll release a stormtrooper specific subclass for the veteran
Also technically
That uses heavy weapons like volley guns
got all that chaos gunk clogging up the aesthetic
The maulers are the only ones who seem to have it even if the game values treat only their helmet as having it
Outside of the Ogryns
It is funny that all the bosses have worse armor than even just Maulers
Seems i've been counterproductive with my "always aim for the head", learning in the training range thingy
But I guess a personal shield makes you feel like hot shit
the regular gunners have no body armor, but they have helmet armor, so going for body shots is better
The more you know
They should add the bosses to the meat grinder
Same with Maulers
i want to inspect the captain without him shooting his aimbot plasma pistol
Leg shots are optimal iirc
interesting
let me test that
Everywhere is flak armor minus the head and chest, which are carapace
So arm and leg shots are better
very interesting
Wait chest is flak too
They basically exist to shake up how to approach enemies
Yeah
It’s just he head which is carapace
all the music goes hard
Aight... im new to the whole 40K stuff "Ik some extremly basic stuff cause of some games..." One on the PSP I recall but can someone tell me whats with the Orks and purple?

It’s the sneakiest color
That’s about it lol
Purple orks dont exist, purple is seen as sneaky... and youve never seen a purple ork have ya? exactly
Also, being sneaky is very un-orky
So actually sneaky orks, ork kommandos, are not viewed nicely by orks
ork kommandos are some of my favorite units
I do enjoy the boss fights even if it’s gotten to the “we melt them fast” phase a bit already
Yeah
just these 8ft tall masses of muscle sneaking around
Orks also dont like the blood axes, who adopted Human customs, like bartering.. and... and... Using tactics to outsmart the enemy without shooting them instantly
the cowards
wich 40K faction has the best food?
Probably tau
orks eat squigs
Eldar or tau
slanesh is what I was thinking
this
i'd rather my food not come from the semen demons
Korne just puts ketchup on everything
Like
Slaanesh food is prolly made out of the most horrific things possible
It probably tastes really really good
But like
It’ll prolly do terrible things to you
Slaanesh would feed you utterly insane shit to try and get a new taste and sensation from eating different things
Taco Bell
even if its literal shit
orks just eat whatever meat they get their hands on
It's Taco Bell
Humans eat soilent green. unless your rich
Most humans eat corpse starch
Bulk up rations sometimes
Grox is a lot cheaper normally
And arguably tastes worse
With how processed it is
Yep, but maybe they're with grendyl.. Who isn't actually with us. 😂
where is Luetin. we need him to do a Lore video on this topic
my wife hates Luetin. so much
they definitely have their eyes on him
british?
no. she hates 40K
oh
Oof
uh, why
and thats the most 40K thing you can play on youtube
she likes star trek. It took years to get here there
Man..
Do they not like anything fantasy or scifi or something
weird how the emperor's flagships just up and vanished
she likes star trek. and she's not a creature of nurgle. I've crossed a threshold
I'll take it
So fun fact about the armor on models. The different damage hit boxes are exactly as modeled.
love that
For some of them they have armored boots but exposed thigh areas
So if you shoot their boots it shows as flak
They have great attention to detail..
BUT
the lasgun is set on Safety on the model
That's just an insane amount level of detail even for the common mobs

You only ever flick a weapon off safety when you're firing, and you do it pretty much second nature.
Which is from earlier development
Where red meant had ammo
Also fun fact
Ally lasguns
Blink red when almost empty
And are green when not empty
The autoguns have accurate round count on the exposed parts of the mags too
i like the staged reload animations this game has
whats your favorite 40K game of all time?
Mfw this game is more in-depth then some mil sim games
Rest in peace, Spacemarine I
You were good, real good
dawn of war is probably what i sunk the most hour into
This one. Original chaos gate. Maybe space marine. Pretty much it.
space marine was great
Oh wait, of course dow 1 and dow 2
dawn of war 2, the survival mode where you fought waves of creatures
I loved that mode
i loved setting up IG artillery lines in DoW to annoy my friends
I played the fuck out of armageddon. its like panzer general
I heard people say that before but I’m not sure I fully understand what the term means, is that when progress is saved on the reload animation when switching to a different weapon?
the sleeper hit was Talisman: The Horus Heresy
Reload progress is saved yeah
Do you think they'll add a Power axe and Bolt pistol
Maybe
the revolver shows it best, each bullet is essentially a different reload
The talisman board game was amazing.
Understood
they seem like no brainers, so i feel like they may even already be in-game, just not till release...
🤔
Inb4 Rannick dies and we get his archeotech pistol
Is that what it is?
Whats a groaner
Yep
you reload 2 out of 6 bullets, your character will only remove 2 bullets from the cylinder
Archaeotech is insane in 40k
or Marrow, since i assume he's higher rank
Did they ever introduce rannick?
Yes
where's my kryptman subclass
I don't remember 😂
yes, he's in the level milestone cutscenes
Oh, I accidentally skipped that one
the guy in all black and has an inquisitorial necklace
Had to dive into a fucking 4chan board for this image
Youre welcome
This is rannick
bigger/clearer image
Ty
Didn't the interrogator die in one of the shorts?
I guess this one's another one
As far as we know
His gun (possible spoilers since its in the last cutscene)
No, the short stories
Yeah, the blog posts
I love sorta RPing as Tanith in the game as a Guardsman. If you have not read the Gaunts Ghosts series, please do.
I assume DA wrote those, so I gulped them up haha
I want to semi RP as a Krieger

I need a better shovel
And power sword..
I love that shovels are there. It means they listened and most likely krieg cosmetics will come.
Not an interrogator
I fucking hope so
I will drop a lot of money on a krieg cosmetic outfit
No way with all the regiments they can make with the 40k license they won't bank off of all the cosmetics options.
or tallarn
For premium currency of course.
If anyone has the hardback Horus Heresy campaign book 8 I will buy it for hundreds of dollars. Its the last one I need
Tanith, Valhallan, Krieg are some have tos.
when sisters of battle cosmetic dlc
I think that damn thing
costs an absurd ammount lo
They could even add a Primaris pysker coat for the Pysker as cosmetic DLC
the black book right?
yes
Yeah
Id kill for that too
those things are super fucking expensive
I'd love a "classic 40k" skins pack
Our 5th will be a ratling, no way it's not with all the voicelines about them. However!
I can see sister repentias for the zealots.
I have all the rest
We already have the eviscerator.
imagine
I want a revolver that looks like a revolver :(
suffer
Nice.
the current revolver looks kinda like a nerf gun or something, or maybe cyberpunk revolver i guess if im not being mean
Revolver skin that looks like the Trigun revolver for no particular reason
We really don't have a stealth class like Kerrellian yet, I wonder if theyll do something with the Officio Assassinorum?
only for rich boys lol
imagine hospitaller class
and offico assassinorum member
i get Bladerunner vibes
would slaughter literally everyone rn
I just want my cowboy gun to be a cowboy gun!
lol
The Sister Repentia are wild, seeing their artwork like, I would not want to be roommates with anyone of em.
We'd prolly get a deathcult
Know what i want?
assasin
Know what i REALLY want
Is Zola from Tertium?
What will we get for sure? Ratlings. What can we hope for? Everything.
At the same time damnit!!
gimme my boy fatshark
let me use any handgun + any 1h melee weapon
if the ratling doesnt sound like bardin i will be pissed
never happening
During one of the levels (with the local enforcer station) she makes a comment about being there
prolly
I want Squats.
She talks about living there
He'll be irish
Ratings will probably be irish yeah
is fucking dead
Yes she's from tertiam, she worked for the water cartel and then got imprisoned
and then probably had to do what we're doing rn
She literally says all this btw
she did well for herself lol
OH did yall hear the voice line talking about how Morrow survived Xanartos?
That's what I thought
"Wall to wall genestealers"
Whats that
Morrow has seen some shit
genestealer outbreak
I'm curious which regiment Morrow served with that had senior NCOs tbh
He saw the second battle of armagheddon, he's over 170 years old
we spoke about this earlier
Steel Legion
he got lost in a warp storm
He's seen some shit lol
damn
And yes he's steel legion
thats someones self insert
Prolly lol
Ooh, they mentioned that?
it's kinda hilarious to me that tyranids went and made whole ass flesh rifles
Served the steel legion as a sergeant major during the second battle of armagheddon and saw Yarrick in person, then got lost in a warp storm later in life and is now here, idk what else happened to him
but hes over 170 years old due to warp timey wimey stuff
the warp storm is mentioned in dialogue
heavily implied even
Rejuv was not mentioned
Which is why i lean more into warp storm
why not both?
because whats the point
look at him
He'd look younger probably
idk, Warp storm is cooler
idc
Getting lost in a warp storm > Getting some ointment for your poor old dry skin boohoo 😦
I know what id put on my resume

wrinkled 600 year old man used to eat corpse starch before he got this ONE SIMPLE TRICK
I actually don't think I've seen any senior NCOs in any of the steel legion lore or novels
Getting lost in a warp storm for years is actually good for the imperium, you'd have knowledge they may have lost
The high lords of terra HATE him
i still love the story where some marines and a tech priest(?) ventured into a space hulk and found a golden age of humanity AI and spoke to it
i forgot what story its from but it was amazing
iirc it immediately locked up the marines armor, shutdown the extra limbs the techpriest had and just kept insulting them
said something along the lines of, like
the current imperium is like a monkey banging sticks and rocks together compared to the golden age of humanity
i really wish i had a source on this, so for now its just "trust me bro"
I googled it and it apparently its from "death of integrity"

Ignore the fact this is reddit for a second
read top comment
its very interesting lore actually
it even knows about the blood angel flaws and uses it against the people on the bridge who found it
‘Fool you are to fling your superstitions at me. Your Omnissiah is nothing to me! See how your so-called holy constructs dance to my desire. Puppets of technology, and I am the mightiest of those arts here present.’
One of Plosk’s servitors rotated and pointed its multi-melta at Brother Militor. With a roar of shimmering, superheated atmosphere, the fusion beam hit the Space Marine square on. The Terminator was reduced to scalding vapour.
That was a fascinating read, ty
Fascinating but depressing
The ship was basically used as a way to timetravel to see how humanity falls and then warn themselves by going back in time, all using the warp
but he had the misfortune of coming back to 40k...
where he was branded a heretic and murdered, causing the ship AI to go insane
Rip him
The ship instantly blasts a hole clean through an Admech ship and Space marine battle barge, too
Doing this actually crashed me instantly, wow
I mean.. Why did you feel the need to test it? 😂😂
I've seen so many people complain about bugs, glitches, crashes and other issues ive never seen a single time
i thought it was another situation like that
but it actually just crashes me lmao
Hey I just noticed something
These guys from the trailer wear the same uniform as the non inquisition npcs you see around
Most unlucky PDF of all time
They tried
I hope we can get the 21st whatever armor as cosmetics
Looks dope
I like the helmet with the mask and goggles on top
Also talking about cosmetics
I'd pay $20 for this
same
Just sayin, if any devs are around
Very grimdark
I should enjoy the black and red visual cohesion while I still can
the ork scrap metal cosmetic pack will be here any day
we'z gunna get stuck in wit da boiz
do we have any clue what cypher's grand plan is
My favorite theory is that he doesn't have a plan at all, and he's just trying to seem way smarter than he is
Kind of like the alpha legion
The bomb collar is easy enough to indentify. But what actually is the bigger collar around the psyker's neck?
Psychic hood
Helps with their abilities
Ah. I normally think of a psychic hood as something fit over the skull. Not around the neck.
Only War and Deathwatch got me picturing other designs.
Space marine ones look like this too
Not always attached to the skull
It can range from around the neck to over the head
Yeah. It's over the head like a hood.
Theres others which arent, theyre around the neck too
Trying to find pic
s
Mephistons is around his neck, its basically his collar
It can be any shape aslong as its around the head tbh
Ah yes. I forgot about Mephiston's supervillian collar of a psychic hood.
Also marines are stronger
so stronger psychic abilities
Probably dont need a huge hood for a regular human pysker
Most Astartes grade equipment is much heavier duty than anything you'd see in the hands of conventionally mortal men.
Especially penal legionnaires.
i know, thats what i was saying
It's a poor man's low-grade psychic hood? Makes a lot of sense. You'd want able-bodied psykers in the fight, but not too able seeing as they've done goofed once already.
Noone else has it, its immediately what i saw it as
Could be a psychic limiter.
Only explanation i have and i dont think im wrong, i mean, what else would it be
We do the same abilities with or without it, so probably not limiter
and if it is, just visually
because game
Yeah.
could be either, maybe both
i vaguely remember that the Adeptus Soriatus blood are used for something. But for what, anyone know the context i’m talking about?
Question for space marine experts: is there a place I can read short summaries about the different chapters?
Like what certain chapters are best known for, their main gimmicks, etc
lexicanum/40k wiki are probably the best places
they both have a master list of chapters that you can just browse, and both start articles with blurb summaries in wiki fashion
Thx
Oh man, I just realized that some of the loudhailer-like yelling and muffled voices at the start of the missions... Is actually part of the soundtrack
It's the one that always plays in the chasm terminus mission, "entering the hive city"
The soundtrack really is a nice piece of work.
Somewhere out there is a list of every chapter. Just click on a name that interests you. It probably won't be a thesis unless it's a fan favorite.
God I wish GW would do something with the Burning Blood marines other than say they're dead.
It'd be bullshit to add. But imagine how funny it'd be to make the psykers more accurate. Seeing random shadows. Hearing actual voices. Or, when beyond 100% peril, having a chance of exploding into a beast of nurgle or some other demon.
Ngl the random sounds and noises you already get at high peril gets me turning around to make sure I'm not getting backstabbed
"do you hear the voices too?!"
You already do hear whispering voices btw 😉
Just once I want to reach 100 peril and hear "Smell his hair" followed by my psyker scream-laughing in agony.
The sounds are great. But ramp it up.
Before they do that, make my psyker actually meaningfully playable on high levels
Besides the battle sister group, would it be against lore compliance to have female space marines?
Or is it just coincidence that the marines are all male
You can certainly homebrew a female chapter. But from a lore perspective it’s a boys only club, due to the primarchs being male.
There was a lore piece in one of the early eds that said that only male bodies had the biochemical makeup for geneseed implantation
That makes sense, thanks guys
But if you want another flavour of power armour. The sisters of silence is another option
It was less about an all male or female chapter and more wondering if a mixed chapter could exist
Ah, unfortunately not
Since female officers clearly exist in darktide
Speaking of. I realized what was irking me about the Accatran lasguns. Darktide has them as full auto machineguns, but the lore has them as semi-auto only.
Ah ok
space marines are a separate organization than the officer corps of the guard. though marines can in some cases report to inquisitors on secondment or something like that, where officers can be female
but within a chapter, it's just a bunch of asexual dudes
I'm really not a fan of the semi auto lasers in darktide, too much damn mouse clicking lol
They have no time for dating when there's heresy afoot
something like that. better that your transhuman supersoldier cadre isn't out to replace baseline humanity by out breeding them
Where’d you hear this out of curiosity?
One of the IA books that detailed Elysian wargear. I collected and played drop troops, I was just going through the Lexicanum article on them again to see if any new stories/novels had come out about them since I last checked.
They're semi auto only because drop troops don't have unlimited supplies behind enemy lines.
Makes sense
Would have been nice if the kantrael was the full auto.
While the Accatran being semi, but it’s fire rate matches trigger pulls
Because until I got the accatran, veteran wasn’t the most enjoyable
Yeah, agreed.
Hoping for more variation at launch. But also this now irks me that I want to try getting a hold of Dan Abnett to say something.
Heh
What kind of humor do space marines enjoy, do they prefer things like comic stand-up or slapstick?
depends. theres a wide range of chapters with vastly different cultures, level of integration into parent/surrounding society, etc. space wolves may be more relatable to humans, others not so much
Wolves maybe
Idk, I think the imperial fists might like it.
The slapstick needs more pain for them to find it funny
Now I gotta know which chapter would appreciate Monty Python and Blackadder the most
Raven guard for black adder
Lmao what, why is that
The Silver Skulls have a healthy dose of Blackadder-style snark.
Any books on them at all?
Thou shalt not yield
Did they ever do any books on the Carcharodons?
Only SM chapter mildly interesting to me
4, I personally enjoyed them
2 short stories, 2 novels, the order goes; The Reaping Time, Red Tithe, Death Warrant, Outer Dark
The raptors need more love I feel
I honestly feel they're more grounded in some sort of realism with how they operate rather than bright coloured warriors charging into battle. They use some camouflage and hit and run tactics.
There are two novels and a bunch of short stories.
I'll see if I can find them. Cheers 🙂
A handy guide
Even better! Cheers again!
They the lads that hang around the ghoul stars sitting on a glass throne?
Or is that another chapter?
Why are we convicts?
4 large type of cause are:
Dereliction of Duty
Misguided Faith
And 2 others
Cuz why not
Be a bit boring if we were all space marines.
No sense of how dangerous it all is.
Then when you chose your name, you can see a specific thing you've done, no idea where we can see on already created characters though
I'd love to see stats on the various backgrounds chosen
We could ask the warden to ask for a poll about the 4 crime category 🟦 🟥 🟨 🟩
I quite like the idea of being a cadian veteran who only survived because they were already in prison when cadia got blackstoned.
What concrete feats do we have for ogryns in terms of durability and strength?
I know we've had a few canonical statements about them being physically stronger than space marines, and their skin being tough enough to withstand some weaponry. but AFAIK they're not as durable as astartes in terms of healing factor and extra organs. What do we know of ogryn durability?
They are literally just thick slabs of meat to put it bluntly
Nothing that much going into
Yeah, thats my impression as well. But how far does being a 'thick slab of meat' get you? i know they are solid powerlifters, but what about their skin? do we know what it can actually withstand?
Pretty far

wtf for real?
Yep
that sounds wack NGL
At the end of the day its basically like attacking a gorilla
sure its docile for the most part
but the moment you fuck with it you're probably going to die
Right, but a fking terminator? astartes are already insanely powerful. In tactical dreadnought armor? goddamn
Are ogryns actually more powerful than even an armored space marine?
Didn't an Ogryn simply rip a SM in two ?
Yes and yes
Its important to remember ogryns are duellist though
its literally all raw strenght
wew, i've been vastly underestimating ogryns
I wonder if someone did some fanart of that.
pretty much
and yeah ik, they're dumb as bricks, and nowhere near as fast or well trained as astartes
but still
fuuuuuck
And they don't have access to the same quality of stuff (On average)
^
I've always been under the impression that they're only slightly physically stronger than astartes
Would it be a mistake to say they're basically human equivalent of orks?
they are quite similar to orkz IMO
They are stronger than your average ork so
also that
but also dumber
which is impressive
Point them at an Ork say ogryn krump and watch that boy roll
though our ogryn in darktide has a bone'ead implant, which probably makes him about as 'smart' as an ork boy
The Skullies are ultra superstitious and rely very heavily on their psykers to make all their important decisions. If a Prognosticator says ‘all the omens and portents are grim, lads,’ they’ll sack off a mission and move on.
The only one with the bone'ead implant is the one that goes "suh"
"Sah" *
which is weird because he isnt that intelligent dialogue wise and is more of a yes-man
^
the bodyguard is deffo the most smartest out the 3
That’s why he’s the smartest
So the others actually don't have bone'ead implants? interesting
Yeee
Tbh
i would have expected them to
They all do
its briefly told in their backstories
since they understand and form sentences
somewhat coherently
which is pretty high level for an ogryn to my knowledge
Like idc what their backstories say, they all use gauntlets, heavy stubbers
That’s only Bon’ead stuff
Kinda
Tig wasn’t stupid. He just worked more slowly at processing information.
gauntlets? i'm not sure about that
It is
Do bullgryns have bone'ead implants?
They only give them to Bon’ead Bullgryn
aaah, didn't know that
Because the two stage firing nature of it
I suspected BONE for all of them, because in the loading screen
they count on their fingers
HIGH IQ
A lot of the conversations they have in game are definitely pretty advanced
Kinda reminds me of the dragon age origins intro, where the reinforcements just sacked it off and caused the battle to be lost. Lmao
I though the Boehead was one of the choices you could take as an Ogryn
It technically is only the Brawler I think
mostly things like saying his Bonehead buzzing
also mentioning its telling him to do things

Kinda like how Cut Throat in the presentation of the voice actors, has it's origin set on Cadia, but you can take Cut Throat and not pick Cadia
Or inversly take Cadia but another voice actors
Or the Savant who is supposed to be an Enforcer but you can pick something else instead
Are Gunlugger Bonehead ?
what do you mean "shame he's pro-imperium"

The ones who reload are
Or have any sorta of trigger discipline
So to be considered a Gunlugger you need to be a Bonehead ?
No
holy shit i love 40k
Wel now I'm confused
You can't have a Gunlugger who doesn't reload or have trigger discipline right ?
ogryn moment
I’m saying gun Luggar have issues reloading
So Gunlugger aren't Bonehead (But they can be)
I really wish you could get more backstory and more vocal lines in character creation
I feel like the short blurbs really didn't give me much depth of them, and I just picked the ones I liked the voices of more
Like which is the voiceline for the zealot that goes "Blood for the blood emperor, skulls for the skull emperor" or something?!
I feel like there's not much difference in how they respond, it's the same lines just different voices. I've got a cadian vet and a zealot and they use the same lines in the intro cutscene
Ah interesting, so the voices have no bearing on what they say?
I thought they did
That's just what I got from the prologue scenes with Zola
ah
Could be wrong!
They're much more effective if they are
Due to them being a bit more complex than the typical smash smash of normal Ogryn
The fanatic. Makes zero sense
in the story "Wraithbone Phoenix" an Ogryn punched his way through solid rock-crete to get out of a underground room because he was having a panic attack due to enclosed spaces. so there is at least that.
These mofos be strong AF
I'm still wondering what we know about their durability tho'
we know a space marine is basically impervious to small arms fire. On account of their skin, healing factor, and black carapace. It is mentioned in lore that ogryns have very thick skin, but i wonder to what degree.
Ogryns can take a lot of damage, lasbolts and regular bullets are things they can power through, same with laceration and blunt force trauma. but plasma and bolter wounds... yeah that shit is going to hurt real bad for the Ogryn
an Ogryn is a lot more durable then an unarmored Astartes, but is not even close in terms of durability as a Space Marine in their respective power armor.
are they actually more durable than unarmored Astartes? i figured their skin was probably thicker, but with the double hearts/lungs and black carapace of the space marines + healing factor, i figured the space marines would win out in that regard
they have a lot more mass then Astartes do and do shit that Astartes need to wear power armor for. Another way of looking at it is this: the space marine is a far more efficient machine then an ogryn will ever be. they are pretty much the optimal balance between physical strength and abilities, with mental capabilities.
An ogryn all ins on the physical side of the equation and puts minimal investment in the mental side of the equation.
case in point: An Ogryn will almost always charge you if told to engage the enemy, a Space marine will charge or flank depending on which would be the more effective option.
depends on what marine really
And what the codex astartes dictates.
Which ultimately depends on if the chapter bothers with it
most marines aren't that "codex up their ass" compliant
Leandros is an idiot and will remain so
Red scorpions are pretty codex stringent from what I can remember.
hell not even many ultramarines are like that afaik
Raptors basically yeet the book out of their ships when deploying
yeah, as i said, leandros's an actual idiot
"the codex doesn't support this action brother"
he also broke codex rules in the end
Well I'm doing it anyway. watch me.
i meant marines like the world eaters, they don't bother with tactics. The nails sting too much for that
Minotaurs too
no flanking for them
They just wanna go bonk
ideally hard enough to knock your head clean off
Oh yeah totally, i'm very aware of the general differences between them. I just thought the physical disparity was smaller.
one of the things about the space marines is that they are not all that big relative to some of the other forces/foes of the imperium its the fact they move much faster than something with their size and mass should be able to
Also reaction times and accuracy
They can one shot the fuck out of you and they’ll wipe you’re whole squad with a barrage of fire before you can react, and you have to get an absurdly lucky shot at this blisteringly fast machine to even have a chance of disabling it, maybe killing it.
What's the lore reason lohner became a medicae
He’s some poor schmuck who was made into a servitor
It’s not Lohner, it’s just someone who has the same voice because voice actors.
what's the most memey or silly thing that currently exists in darktide
Spazzing out as an Ogryn firing the heavy stubber.
The veteran being able to autofire a bolter without his arms disintegrating
Fer da last time
They make normal sized bolters
Also that’s not how recoil works smh
I thought it was a marine bolter
The issue with bolters is they’re so fucking heavy not their recoil.
I humbly throw myself on the floor
It’s not, it’s a smaller model
And beg for forgiveness
Now go flagellate yourself in penance
I shall seek a night lord skinner to make sure penance is complete
lol
Why don't human scale bolters have stocks?
not much need for one
space marine bolters were rarely portrayed with stocks until like the semi new deathwatch models and primaris
they only have a small amount of recoil due to the small amount of propellant the round has
Mostly because 40k gun design is just silly if we’re being real
that too
But the propellant plus the weight is probably a decent in universe reason
ye
something something STC not including stocks
The fact our characters can even lift them / power hammers is pretty astonishing, honestly.
stabilizers in their gauntlets right?
this is the only official semi old photo I can think of, of a bolter with a stock and its a nonsensical combi weapon
That is a particularly bad one
Loads of humans use bolters/thunder hammers in the lore though
ye
They’re just able to hipfire them well from training
So characters lifting them shouldn't be that shocking
And the sights are linked with their helmets
Also the Thunder hammers are small scale
Same with the bolters
They’re made for humans
It's less of a lore thing, more of a .. those look super heavy thing.
And our dudes are obviously fit
Yeah definitely heavy still
honestly most SM weapons are just up scaled versions of human sized weapons the imperium makes
Or the other way around
That's one thing I've always loved about the imperium, you'll find weapons scaled from guardsman sized up to titan sized.
But yeah all our weapons are pretty normal
And we also have shittier power weapons for example
Which need to be primed
ye
As opposed to just always being on
even flashlight seems powerful in this game
its nice darktide really only gives us the bog standard kit for the most part
I remember thinking like, "Why do people like this thing its so fucking garbage?" because I wasn't priming it first and then I started priming it and I was like, "Oh... OHHH!"
You mean lasgun?
Honestly hate the las gun flashlight memes.
so im new to the 40k universe i had some questions
why cant adults become space marines
blame the TT it seems
I blame shitty meme sites like 1d4chan
their bodies will reject the implants if they have gone thru puberty
Due to the ways they grow with the new organs/etc put into them, it allows them to develop their bodies around the changes. However there were times in 30k where adults were turned into 'semi marines' such as Kor Phaeron
Technically, some could
But it’s a waste of resources
It has atrocious failure rate
ye. case in point the thunder warriors
would be cool if ogryn can use heavy bolter
ye
so like i asked this question before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_HljUo8Jjk but its like why dont these space marines help us with our mission they are so OP?
Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment showcased their upcoming Warhammer 40k game with this cinematic trailer, that also showed quick 3rd person action snippets. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine II has no set release date yet.
cant we call them for help?
That reminds me, what's some of the most infamous 40k lore, similar to that Grey knights / sisters of battle incident?
There's too few of them
Because they’re a finite resource
You know, the blood tide one
They’re rare as hell
There's very limited marines, and they're doing MUCH more important things as this
i thought theres tons of space marines?
There’s about a million
why? people like to wank about how they really are amazing and its just the power levels of the setting and they're logistically amazing but this is a pulpy setting of heroes and legendary combats, why should a shit be given for something you give a grunt with no training cause its cheap
not in the imperium it's not
But here’s more than a million worlds in the Imperium
you got to remember, most hive cities have issues like Tertium
oh
a million is not alot when spread out over countless worlds
Most guardsmen will never come close to seeing one
WTF
They’re absurdly rare
they literally found Genestealer cults and demon cults on TERRA and that's the 'most important' world
depends what you read
And Atoma Prime can’t even call in extra guard forces to assist
if you read horus heresy stuff, a lot haha
lorewise 10 space maine can take the world i think
There’s no real standard
More often these days though
Because Indomitus
isnt the imperial guard in the trillions?
Everyone is mobilized
man thats crazy
Possibly quadrillions
oof
I read, Cult of the Warmason and 10 Iron Warriors did basically walk through most of the planet
how many space marines can take over planet earth?
that's extremely hard question wise
Depends whose writing the book
space marine is like special force they used to be a huge legion but due to horus heresy so codex reduce them to be 1000 per chapter
The “ten marines to a planet” thing is pretty dumb
But they are effective as helll
But they need support
if they use actual tactical warfare, deepstriking/teleporting, I'd say 10 due to precise strikes, in an all out battle with 10 marines vs all of earhts forces on a battlefield? Much harder to work out
people forget marines are very tactical, with strike insertions etc, combined with how strong each individual one actually is.. yeah..
who can kil space marines easily if they are so OP?
Demons, primarchs
There is some outliers to the no more Space Marine Legions.
The Black Templar and Dark Angels break the rules but no one really cares.
how common are demons and primarchs and space marines fight them 50/50 on even terms?
there's only ever been max 18 primarchs
and a few have died
and few have gone missing
they were created in year 31k, gameplay we're now in 41k
demons are more common, but it's hard for them to come into real space, even then there are marines specialised in killing them
they are super strong but not invincible
there's also necrons, eldar, tyranids, all have weapons built for killing marines sure
so i guess spartans from the halo universe cant be compared to space marines they are totally different? both modified tho ?
It’s super variable
both modfiied aye
But typically daemons in real space is super fucking bad
but a marine is a whole other level to a Spartan
For more reasons than just dealing with them
but that's a very iffy debate
But the amount of corruption needed for it to happen is absurd
could a space marine end the halo vs coventant war?
Depends on the marine
anyway I'm going to play now so if you want answers I'm happy to answer when I'm back but there's plenty of people here that can help 😄
in terms of creation I don't think they're that different cause neither of them are technically genetically modified, just pumped full of hormones and surgeried full of goodies
(can and are)
40 k easily outpower other universe since it built itself on exaggerate , ridiculous scale
you make it sound like space marines are pinatas
we don't talk about the primaris
Also in most stories we’re following pretty exceptional marines
Yes we do don’t be cringe
if you are a nid they likely may as well be, a very dangerous pinata that tries to kill you back
fuck guilliman
Omg guys I don’t like new thing which has been in the lore for like six years now I’m cool
primaris are pretty lame 2bh
well you might hate it but story need to be move foward
Objectively imo it’s been way better for the lore than what was before
encourage new model for franchise survival
Stuff is actually happening and it’s mostly well written too
shoulda moved the lore forward without primaris, its not like it was necessary to use them, and if they wanted new models, could have just made truscale marines :/
i still dont get the primaris hate
fucking primaris now is as tall as firstborn salamander like wtf
I will say, I guess the one good thing out of no sm cameos in darktide is no primaris lmao
chaos primaris as boss
hell Titus is a primaris now
Literally anything and anyone
it's because it show the favoritism towards space marines. especially ultra marines.
Maybe if you get your lore from memes
lol
brother fucking custodies aren't even this tall
Basically all factions have benefitted from recent lore changes
yeahh gw is kinda inconsistence with lore
Custodes are stronger and faster in every respect.
And also, one yes they are
And two
Who the fuck cares?
Are we the aliens from Invader Zim?
Omg guys they’re taller now this ruins the lore
They are tho
i thought the banana boys where like 11 foot
this make primaris as big as custodes.
Generally Primaris are about 8 feet
i have extremely limited understanding of the 40k lore, since this is my first 40k game in general
but feels like you have two choices to kill a space marine, one being studying the entire biology and armorsuit of the general space marine to a T and find out a specific fault in design to explot....
the other is just straight bakoom with the force of 10 suns
Give or take
Or you just shoot them
Shooting them
With a gun
YES
8 to 10, the upper end are chapter masters.
Like
I would just recommend reading some books
Books do a good job showing how they’re very mortal
They just have a lot of advantages
would it kill GW to set a standard for the heights in 40k?
But they’re almost always outgunned and outnumbered
Pretty much
oh and i played the space marine anniversary edition a while ago
Well there is more just a range
but i only remember like 1 or 2 things about it
Like marines can be only like 6’5”
Or way beyond the norm closer to 9 feet
It’s not a monolith
space marine like all relic made 40k games plays fast and lose with the lore
based
that's the fucking thing. they describe primaris like it's a en masse version of custodes and show that they literally no different from the first born.
And it’s gonna have game mechanics
And explicitly at the end of the game they arrest him because he shouldn’t have been able to do a lot of that stuff
And he 1v1s a Warboss and wins
it would be way funnier if it's dark angels who arrest him instead of blood ravens
And 1v1s an ascending almost daemon prince
and a demon prince
Falling from Orbit
It was Black Templars
And they were just with an Inquisitor
not from orbit just the top of a really tall tower
I believe it was an orbital elevator technically
Or space elevator
But the important thing was
It was high
And it was cool
yes
ye
my man had more plot armor than most of the memes about his chapter lol
but like i said
relic was never very focused on staying true to canon
and GW doesnt care how true to canon a video game is so long as it doesnt go too far off
It was definitely a very uh, exaggerated game
just like dow
tbf if it close to lore the moment they hear "daemon" the place would have been swarmed by grey knights
i mean. the blood ravens where there so im sure they could have called them
which is kinda weird considering blood ravens home planet is no where near the system wher the game take place
The daemons appeared on pretty short notice so they wouldn’t have been that quick
The dude would have ascended already by then
But maybe after
there aren't enough grey knights for them to be there every time
never underestimate the power of Kaldor's bullshitery
the man can literally step out of the warp fight a bunch of demon then vanish
He could be he also might not, he has a hard time controlling where he goes
also whos the god emperor and why do people like him
he's a dude who died 10k years ago, it was pretty cringe
so why should i care about his dead ass
He’s not dead
i mean you're skipping a bit
is he alive or dead lol
Yes
vegetable, technically
Tbh, it’s a long long story
Because he isnt dead and he powers the golden throne, basically a lighthouse for humanity to use warptravel
uh... there won't be interstellar travels
Also if he does die, earth and the sol system fuckin explodes
He’s basically what allows the Imperium to exist
He has a dead mans switch
oh so hes being used as like a conduit for shit
Without him, everything falls
He’s active
He’s not doing nothing
he talks?
But yes he’s also powering that kinda
The god emperor of mankind lead the initial crusade to unite humanity, before the horus heresy
Selectively
He's almost a chaos god himself at this point isn't he
He’s kinda become a god since then
yes with a text to speech device
And his mind is fractured
wait how does he allow space travel ?
At this point, he's senile, he's a perpetual,(cannot die), he's been alive since BCE
So the warp is hard to travel
He acts like a lighthouse
Which lets the Imperium navigate around
Incredibly powerful pysker perpetual who's the reincarnation of 1000 shamans from BCE
this is about right
is he like palpatine or something like that someone powerful and old but stays away from the field?
oh nvm
i was wrong
so basically he was the most powerful human psyker to ever exist, he died a long time ago and now his corpse, which still contains his mind through some really arcane horseapples, is plugging up a hole in reality on earth
Yeah no, don't compare to star wars
it takes daily sacrifices of thousasnds of psykers to keep him in this state
huh, good thing i dont play psyker
The emperor himself was on the field doing a lot of shit before and during the heresy
wont people run out of people to sacrafice?
as a side effect, he can be used as a beacon to navigate while in FTL travel
He’s now more a force in the warp
He united earth before the crusade through sheet brute force
They have a fleet to keep them coming
40k is the entire galaxy
Theres trillions of imperial lives
1000 a day is a drop of water
the whole galaxy in mapped out in that universe?
Yes
wtf
40k is not small at all and has been going since 1988
10,000 a day is also just the average
the imperial has expands to 1000s of planets. each are pretty much overcrowd 10x earth is right now
They have more than that hooked up
well a thousand psykers is still quite a lot, it's a rough situation
it would probably be best if they let him die
It’s not that many compared to what it does
i don't think they ran out of people anytime soon
no no no you wouldn't want that.
how the hell is that even possible to make the galaxy overcrowded
Tertium has over 8billion people in it alone (current irl earth population) and that's 1 city in 40k @vocal drum
Because space sci fi stuff
It’s fiction
welcome to 40k
thats hilarious
it's fine, the galaxy wasn't exploding before the emperor, it wouldn't explode without him
humanity would
Map of 40k here
Please read a book
It will explode when he dies
