Lasgun recoil is intentionally added back in via an internal mechanism iirc
Like, lasgun not having recoil would be a huge boons to them, but no, ah ah recoil is in them too, that is like shooting ourself in the feet lol
I’m like 99% sure they either don’t kick at all or have it added back in via an internal mechanism for user feedback
Also occasionally due to "gas expanding near the tip of the barrel from the heat of the las-bolt" and "the laser goes hard enough to kick"
Which is simply dumb, if you could you would use a recoilless gun, it would make training extremely easier, and you could expect good result either from a very young soldier and a very old one that might not handle well the recoil
Varies based on author.
That would make sense in theory
But eh
All those are crap excuses imo
It’s clear the recoil in darktide
Is for gameplay lol
People like guns with recoil
Case in point Battlefield 4
Have we ever seen the Lasgun but from the perspective of something other than a Guardsman ?
Like someone technically minded
2 identical guns had the same stats but one had more visual kick and sound
People thought the one with more kick did more damage
It’s a lizard brain thing for gameplay
Yeah but don't expect a consistent answer either. The reasons for lasgun recoil are as numerous as there are authors writing 40k stuff.
Like a tech priest describing how a las weapon works? Or a non guardsmen getting shot at
that should be accomplished with a good snap sound effect. The lack of recoil and the way soldiers look when firing them is iconic
Tech Priest describing one
Also lol why is the bot reacting to everyone.
It’s annoyed by the words lasgun recoil
Point being
It’s added for gameplay reasons
Isn't it reacting only to Elite ?
Lasgun recoil
recoil
Emperor protects
Recoil lasgun
Unfortunately that’s not how your lizard brain works
There needs to be visual kick and such
It’s weird
There’s a lot of instances of this in battlefield 4
But that one was prolly the most notable
Dunno, i don't need recoil to feel the strength of a gun
Since they had the exact same stats
Telling me my lizard brain needs it does not make it so
In fact, i want less recoil lol
Lol
I do not need that
Also the lasgun has like almost no recoil in the beta
Tbh
It’s just for visual feedback
and I like the way imperial guard regiments look when they advance and fire, and their arms are dead still
We barely have any videos of the guard tbf
If you haven't, you should watch the Helsreach animated film
Very good
I'm aware
It’s a nice way of visualizing the audiobook
Better than any animation that's been produced with an official stamp of approval 😂
I feel like part of the issue is that Lasguns behave too much like regular guns in the lore. They're not like Dune Lasguns where you drag the beam around, they're just guns but we replaced the bullet with laser.
Mfw you forgot about the kill team trailer
Or the 9th edition launch trailer
But yeah
Or the Horus Heresy trailer.
It looks good
I didn't mean the animation is better, but that it's a better piece of media than their other animations
I mean?
It’s an adaptation of an audiobook
I’d say the audiobook is still better then the actual animation tbh
But that’s just me
I mean the animation is supplementary to the book. And it was an incredible book
Aaron Dembski Bowden is my fav
Also this tbh
Lasguns are just like
Treated as normal guns
They even have yellow muzzle flash and stuff in a lot of art
Despite the fact they should be red
GW will be inconsistent about basically everything. That's why I don't spend a lot of time worrying about what's "official"
I'm the one who has to sort through all of it and make it make sense anyway
Yeah, there's just flat out not been any depiction of Lasguns that I can recall which isn't just "we took a service rifle and made it shoot lasers like a Star Wars blaster". They're always just generic guns, now in laser flavour. The unique factors tend to come in how their power packs recharge, and overloading them so they explode.
I mean Star Wars did a pretty good job of retroactively explaining it with that gas that they use for power packs for blasters
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a novel out there by one of the one-shot less skilled writers where they eject casings lol.
Lol
I feel like the fact that it's still in question is hilarious when it should be so easy to make consistent
Yeah that's the thing, Star Wars went back and explained blasters. 40k threw out like twenty different explanations, then went back to "is gun but laser".
Lol pretty much
The space wolves omnibus comes to mind. Not for lasguns, but boy I remember it being rough
and I sure hope I didn't just trash anyone's favorite book 😂
To his credit, that writer improved over the course of the series
Even Dark Heresy treats them like regular guns for the most part up until Only War and DH2 where you got the variable power setting rules.
True
Don't forget the Dawn of War and Deathwatch novels by C.S. Goto
Oh I've seen that name thrown around as one of the more egregious ones
Those were truly something special. (Even if you might want to forget them)
CS goto god no
Why does he hate the eldar so much lol
And why does he like multilasers
Or backflipping terminators
You're shitting me
My brother in Christ
a backflipping terminator?
Now I might read this
And also in dawn of war 3
🤮
Also he has a really weird hardon
For having eldar die horrifically
And having their guns be useless
I like wholesome interracial friendships with Eldar, thank you very much
Also dark eldar living in the eye of terror
It’s very clear he doesn’t want to write about 40k
Point being CS Goto’s books should be burned
Not actually
But still
He disregards most existing canon to write his own stuff
Okay, I forgive the space wolves guy. They weren't even that bad. Just amateur
The one thing CS goto did that was good
Was make people realize multilasers are cool
There's a scene in one book where a bunch of youth and locals with sticks swarm a Wave Serpent, jam sticks in the engine and it crashes.
Most competent BL eldar depiction
Well, I certainly don't prefer the craftworlders, but I'll take them over 'umies
Oh and Dark Eldar live in the eye of terror and worship Slaanesh in some of his books.
GW does not have an editing team confirmed.
Yeah old BL is the worst
tbh I'm surprised that GW hasn't just deleted drukhari altogether yet
But that is a special kind of negligence in an author that I wasn't prepared for
The only good person to write eldar has been Andy Chambers
With Path of the dark eldar and masque of vyle
Gav thorpe is comically bad and goto is goto
Gav Thorpe being bad is especially funny given he's the one who seem to be in charge of lore-keeping for Eldar but is himself inconsistent with it.
Yeah its the worst
Man needs an editor.
Person who seems to hate eldar put in charge of the eldar
GW writing staff needs an editorial team.
For every Masque of Vyle theres 100 dime marine novels that get pumped out
How they’re written
Eh, it's middle of the road sci-fi imo, most of it is generic but not trash. But they're too mediocre for the most part.
"An even less pretty sight was that of the big Ogryn, Tig, as he had cradled his best friend’s torso in his arms, trying to convince himself that everything was fine."
Ogryn's are like dogs, too pure.
I just read that and I have Emotional Damage

I'm pouring one out for Tig 🫗
Believe me, the guy for whom Tig is named would appreciate that immensely.
I'm pouring two out Q.Q
Maybe the person being vaporized is just a bitch?
well it's guard so can't be much higher tier than bitch tier
tyranid psyker creature, so yes
I think Orgz are the better material for the ogryn class bcus of the strength advantage
Yeah I’m gonna need time to recover
Don't you all think the same?
I'm a big fan of Orgz™️ myself
orgz?
Orgz
wtf is that?
Orgz R Uz
Orgz are more strengthful than the Ogryns
I think Orgz dominate the bodybuilding industry

There is more to Orgz than you can probably imagine
Are we just intentionally mispelling Orks here?
I think so?
No thats me.
This is one example of the "more to it"
Is this what having a stroke feels like?
Most likely.
Do you have simptoms?
wtf is happening rn?
Yeah
I don't even know.
No I'm not a fan of most vtubers
“Most”
That is not what I said
You said simp-toms

Wait what. Elaborate
"You got my ear, citizen."
Hololive in 40k confirmed
You meant Holocaust...

I'm so confused
Bruh how about you stop that train of thought right here.
There is no trains here just a straight walk
Trains in 40k
Machinists in 40k
so there is a giant ass bomb rigged to the golden throne?
That’s news to me
There is the amber train in 40k
A what?
Wtf do you mean by amber train
There is also an amber chamber in that train
Don’t look at me. I’m trying to figure out what’s going on
Why are u talking about Amber in 40k
im so very confused
Me too
Wasn't 40k created based on the Nazi Germany?
not at all
It hits you over the head with Catholic imagery
Oh great another one 🙄
Nom
can we have lore channel be lore and not whatever this is?
Ohhh, so yeah my friend messed the explanation
I think this conversation gave me a headache
same
oh no
It aint even funny at this point
He was supposed to explain me some lore and got lost in the translation
I have a gun
Good enough
Yeah
wtf. why?
The Talisman of Seven Hammers
Now this I wanna hear about. The fuck y’all mean a giant bomb
So if the Emperor dies, a warp rift wouldn't open up and exist forever.
Oh
How does it stop the warp rift
So if the traitors won, they'd all get wiped out.
Orgz would be fine addition to the darktide as the ogryn subclass
It can permakill daemons
Like perma perma?
They never come back
Nope
Worse even, just nothing
Basically what happened to Horus then
Just nothing like after real death?
Literally a Parry this casual
Oh nice, magic bullshreds to kill some immortal beings
if you mean orks they are something completely unrelated to ogryn so that cant happen
For me it's fine
I can live with stretched models
Hit it with a wrench to test

Wrench can apply stun
To the opposing force
Can we get a deep fried chicken as the medi- medi- medicae
Anyway with that out the way, if you want to talk more about Orgz do it in #general-chat
Isn't that a lore channel?
no. this is the lore channel lol
It's literally 40k lore
Its not.
"Ere We Go, 'Ere We Go, 'Ere We Go!" — Common Ork chant heard during a greenskin WAAAGH! The Orks, also called greenskins, are a savage, warlike, green-skinned species of humanoids who possess physiological features of both animals and fungi who are spread all across the Milky Way Galaxy. They share many features with Warhammer Fantasy Orcs (and...
Thats lore.
It's literally lore
Orgz do not exist anywhere in warhammer 40k
no
Exactly
My brother in christ I hope you are on drugs, because otherwise you're just being silly for no reason
yeah. why am i still feeding this guy?
But yeah jokes aside stop filling the chat with this nonsense please
if you wanna talk ork stuff thats fine

ok so Orgz must be mistranslated orks cause i get the feeling he doesnt speak english and is using a translator app of some kind
Me speak very to the point
I'm more inclined to think he's just being dumb
How can Vulkan craft such thing wasnt Perturabo and Ferrus the smith like Primarch
yes
its his niche in lore too
They all had skills, Vulkan crafted the best relics typically
Ferrus made more simple but good weapons
Perturabo didn't do weapons as much
He designed stuff more.
In between fits of baby rage
A right stuff like siege engines and so on
Also tiny miniatures
Also it doesn't matter for Ferrus since GW forget he ever existed
Based
Oh didn't know that
Yeah its not subtle

and in Turkish the word for volcano is literally Volkan
so Nocturne is full of ironies
I mean he lost his head lol
He smithed in the TzHarr Caves in Runescape
Vulcan is the roman god of smiths and his forges are volcanos

Oh well that explains it pretty much
yes
How come there is no orgynz
?
Wow hahahahahahaahahahahaha hilarious dude, man you’re a funny guy
God, what a hilarious comment
You sir, get the award for comedy gold today

i give up
He’s just a troll that’s all
Actually, I'm orgzkind but it's anyway a darksided race
Oblood, for the last time.
Are you just trolling, if so im timing you out for a day.
like its kinda dragging on at this point lol
just fucking deal with them
I timed him out 2 times so just want to be sure
Wait, I got timed out rude decision
You didn't follow my warning of going to general-chat incase you want to say random stuff there.
I feel like they’re probably a kid, I dunno. I hope so. Would make it more understandable.
Yeah i cant really tell is the issue
but his pfp also has a kid's face with a dick drawn on it
lol
You are telling me about random stuff thats just rude and hypocritical
oh wow i didnt notice that at first lol
It kinda goes to show you are just being weird for no reason
anyway
If he does this again just ping me and then its solitary where I'll actually question him lol
got it boss
i think the bolter is confirmed but not the bolt pistol
unknown
It’s almost too big for anyone but the ogryn
I am gonna have a stroke
Huh
speaking of that 1 sec
Are there models wielding it?
yeah fetching one
Can you pin it and automatically send it to anyone who joins the discord?
lmao
we may just need to sadly
Mini announced just a week ago
and even before the mini afaik the bolter was a wargear upgrade options for the IG sergeants in TT
There’s been some smaller models for awhile
Yep it was!
Haha that so stupidly big.
Guy wearing it for clout.
ye
But it’s possible it’ll just be for the Ogryn
All i want is to have a chainsword in one hand and a lasterpistol/boltpistol in the other

Gimme the god damn Eviscerator
I suspect we’ll get a bolt pistol with an officer class for the Vet
nah the bolter would most likely be for the vet
It seems to be in the game
Most likely
But it’d be funny
I wonder why it’s so big in the first place, most of the functionality is in the bullet/microrocket.
We better be lol
ye
They don’t make any
like the only part of them that makes any sense is the fact they are 2 stage gyrorockets
everything else about them is just completely BS
At least they’d double as ogryn-proof bludgeoning weapons
a .75 caliber explosive round cant atomize half a human by exploding inside it lol
Not with that attitude
it takes a 120mm HEAT round to atomize a human
Do they atomize? I always just assumed they’d work similiar to wasp knives but with gunpowder.
Penetrate and then produce force around it, let colliding organs do the rest
the lore i have read or watched on yt states than when a human is hit center mass with a single bolt round. their entire upper body is just blown to shreads
Yeah if a bolter hits you. You're basically done.
Whatever it hits is gonna no longer be there
yes which is stupid cause there isnt nearly enough explosives in the round to do that
Nah but it's rad as fuck
I reckon they have infused promethium or some other made up ingredients for a more powerful charge.
promethium is a catch all for literally any fuel the imperium uses iirc
yeah its basically gasoline/petrol
lol
Magic space fuel
I know
Nah they also use promethium
Magic as in narrative magic
They try to explain it in the fiction, but it seems kinda strange
so just gas powered space ships? expectable
Promethium is a general, catch-all term used for any form of combustible fuel in the Imperium of Man, including refined hydrocarbons and the various isotopes of hydrogen used as both fuel and reaction mass in Imperial Plasma Generators and starship drives.
Huh that’s new to me
It amuses me someone could ask for prometheum and get handed nuclear weapon components by accident.
Sir this is the #40k-lore-chat and not the #darktide-memes
so thats what happens when a video you are watching gets deleted lol
Aint it weird Word Bearers are given so little attention when they’re likely the most consequential traitor legion.
I guess they just lack a unique post-heresy identity.
Every other legion are chaos + something else.
bearers are just chaos
Lots of chaos
What do you say about the ones who are bery bangry
Sir Iron Warrior are just Traitor ls they dont belong to a Chaos Lord
Aint Perty boi a daemon at this point?
Some night lord & alpha legion warbands are unaligned too.
And Abaddon mostly seem to use the gods from a utilitarian perspective.
Alpha legion are aligned with the alpha legion
Yeah but there are 2 possible ways
1.Fulgrim lured Pertu and some IW in a trap and Fulgrim wounded Pertu and he slowly died from it sonhe became a Deamon Primarch to stop it
2. Writter got lazy cause he even refused Nurgle and all the other Chaos Gods
2 is the most likely reason
...Except there's a reason for it. Peter Turbo wants to know how to control everything. Chaos is a thing he saw and thought "I am gonna learn that. But NOT fall for it because I am the smartest and coolest guy." Except he's an arrogant fuck who isn't as great as he thinks he is and is probably just a puppet of Chaos now just like the rest.
Any daemon prince is in the clutches of the ruinous powers, I think it’s reasonable to call him a chaos lord.
He's a demon prince. He just thinks he isn't under their control
Kinda like Abaddon thinks he's above Chaos

"I will raze that planet but not because you told me too!"
A puppet who can’t see his strings
Exactly
Bit of hot shot
Perty and Abaddon both think they are playing their own game and they are just using Chaos as a tool. And while that might be true to an extent. They are both still totes being played.
literally everyone that follows chaos. Abby included lol
Weird theory:
The imperial faith unintentionally primes minds to be more susceptible to chaos worship once it takes hold. It was after all penned by the greatest chaos-sucker of them all.
It’d make sense his psychology would bleed into the texts.
The issue is we see Chaos takes hold better in people who don’t hold a faith like that, who don’t know to steel themselves from it.
It was a big issue during the Heresy
It’s why current SM chapters are so regimented and strict
Did heresy era legions besides the bearers worship the emperor?
I know quite a bit of the legions clung to vestiges of their native culture’s faith. But that seems universal across them all.
To greater or lesser extents.
no. as the imperial truth outlawed all forms of religion and worship
only logic reason and science where permited
Even now most chapters don’t really worship him
It’s like more a respect and reverence
even with the Black Templars it’s not consistent
And then we have the Black Templar
in fact one of the greatest ironies of Lorgar is his legion was originally tasked with killing all members of the religious classes of a planet and removing all places of worship from the map
The thing with the BT is they’re basically a bunch of separate chapters under one banner
Helbrecht controls them all to some extent
But they do their own thing a lot
Word bearers were done dirty
Justice for monarchia
thats not a theory that is literally why big e outlawed it lol
It’s also kinda silly of him.
We’ll always have religion as long as we have overactive pattern recognition survival engines for brains.
Lorgar unironically won
yeah. the emperor was more than a little stupid
true
Also, at the end of the day a lot of the Heresy’s onset is plot contrivances which don’t make a lot of sense
thats warhammer lore for you
Fun question for the day: How many Orkz are actually Ogryn sleeper agents painted green?
Not enough
The disguise probably works until it comes down to discussing/eating rations
I mean... I don't think either are particularly picky.
Plus, if Orks are convinced, who knows, maybe they'll be able to stomach a lil extra!
Orks only eat meat and fungi afaik
Imperial rations likely contain huge amount of ingredients orks don’t appreciate
I mean... Ogryns'll fit right in then, no?
This is only serving to intensify my terrible headcanon
Look
Look
Ogryn Digganobz
But actually in Ork culture as sleeper agents
S'all I'm sayin'
Ohhh I thought you meant the other way around
Orks infiltrating ogryn squads
No, no
Paint Ogryns green and make them think they're orks.
Make them sleeper agents.
Amusing as it would be, I think the orkz would know what they were due to them not having the same pheromones and such.
But I also believe Orks would find them so entertaining and impressive that they’d keep them around as some weird war pets.
And the Ogryns would think they’re doing a kickass job while coughing up spores 😭
"OI DIS WONZ A PROPPAH GI'. HONRARY GI' 'E IZ. GO ON. PUNCH IM. SE- OOOHHH 'E KRUMP'D YA GOOD DI'N 'E LEGCHOMPAH? YOU'Z'LL BE CRAWLIN' DAT WON OFF FER A WHILE BWAHAHHAA"
That is all I want
The Emperor made Lorgar, yet Lorgar gets shit for being himself. Thanks dad.
I think it's a line from Dawn of War that the ork warboss asks the IG for "more o' dem ogryn boyz"
nah what fucked lorgar over was landing on a planet of chaos worshipers and being "raised" by a sadistic pedo
The Imperium is built on daddy issues
Gotta be the worst story of the Primarchs
yes
even the Tau know it
Image they mock him with it
But that's the grimdark, the Imperium is just very slowly losing.
the dude literally suffered from massive Stockholm syndrome due to all that as well iirc
oh wait wrong chat whoops
the dude in charge of necromunda?
so. does that make Jerico the lord governor?
sure
But if you want a TLDR
basically he gets semi-assassinated but they manage to put him a statis casket
and naturally as with any ruler death
a lot of helmawr people want to take his place
and some claiming to Kal and getting killed for it
nice
Its super good
the entire world also has a massive blackout when the Rift opens
its literally just the blackout mutator but for an entire hive city
but who would have lord helmawr assassinated?
Lorgar was too kind for the environment he grew up in.
Molded into a monster by the monsters he thought he could trust.
That we dont really know the guy has a lot of enemies
Objective: <Survive>
NOT EVEN KIDDING
LITERALLY EVERYONE
TRIES TO KILL EACH OTHER
GSC Included

"PVP has been enabled"
Necromunda is a wild place
i wonder if they will get nuked again lol
lmao
Tig
I kinda wish they'd given him a little bit of description so we could know if we found him in game somewhere
a lot shit is happening
i cant post it all here for reasons but just thought id share
there is that one ogryn corpse
Yeah that's what I was wondering
It's probably not Tig though
necromunda sure has gotten lively lately lol
yeah iirc it wasnt in the right map for that
Who is better at building shit, Imp fists or iron warriors
Whichever legion you’re asking
you the player
The truth is, they’re both really damn good
So it just depends on the leader and situation
Generally the IW were known for sieging while the IF were the fortifying guys, but it’s kind a reductive take on it
They both excelled at both
And they both beat the other at both multiple times during the Heresy
Didn’t dorn canonically lose to perturabo and had to get his ass saved by the ultramarines?
Something something iron cage
Perturabo also lost the Siege which is my point
They both lost where it mattered
But also won where it did
💯
Do the tribesman of Chogoris (and/or the White Scars for that matter) have a special name they refer to the Emperor by? Or practice the Cult Imperialis in any special way?
To be fair the sole purpose of the iron cage was to defeat and show the Fists and Dorn that Perturabo and his IW are better at sieging
and Dorn walked right into said trap
He wasn’t in the best state of mind at the time
nope
Also we don’t really have current lore on how it went down so I’ll wait til we get some first hand accounts in a book or something
mad with rage and grief iirc
Poor bastards never saw it coming
Didn't Mr Blueberry himself have to step in to keep Dorn from getting killed?
Yup
Iirc the imperial fists suffered like 70-80% casualties, and this was like, right after the siege of Terra where they had already lost a lot of guys right?
We don’t know the losses really, we can make some guesses based off how many chapters the IF formed in the second founding.
But it’s hard to say since right now we don’t even know how they end up after the Siege/Heresy. Same with the IWs.
The whole event is pretty old lore by now so it’s probably best to wait for current books to catch up to how it happens and the losses suffered.
But but
How close the Iron Cage was on Sebastian IV really depends how large Guillimans reinforcing task force was.
A single chapter? A close battle.
Multiple chapters? Far more one sided on the Iron Warriors side
The Imperial Fists recounting is to steeped in myth to be taken at face value.
While the Iron Warriors recounting is likely from still living astartes, their bitter rivalry and bias makes the account doesn’t make it completely reliable
Which wraps around to my earlier point
Most in universe accounts of it are pretty old and its best to just take it as, Imperial Fists suffered bad losses, it led to Dorn accepting the Codex and the Chapter system.
Best to wait until we get new more direct media on it in the meantime.
Agreed
And by "pretty old" I don't mean in universe, I mean direct references to it in lore are old.
Oh yeah the index astartes references are what? 20-25 years old. Published in the mid 90’s iirc
30k & HH lore > 40k lore
Just what I needed, even more marine focus
Yes
The nature of the Iron Cage depends on who is telling the tale. For some, it was a test of resolve, undertaken as a crucible to ensure that those that moved on to the chapter format were the most hardened of veterans. In others it was Dorn foolhardishly rushing into a trap that almost destroyed his legion. In some sources, the two legions were evenly matched and despite the defences surrounding them they would have annihilated each other.
As Eternal said, we've only got 90s era lore for it. It's referenced every Imperial Fists related supplement, but in a mythical contexy glorifying it.
40k in a nutshell
Like blank faction? You'll love their appearance in our new.... Space Marine Battle Novel
Seeing as a book is due to release about the kasrkin, I kinda hope one drops for the imperial navy armsmen
Probably whenever the rumored BFG box sets come out.
One of their newer terrain sets (basically Zone Mortalist rereleased) is basically ship boarding/close quarters I believe.
Mm, it’s pre good and the armsmen models look quite nice
It's nice to see shotguns and boarding shields on minis.
I kind of hope we get a shield and single handed ranged combo in Darktide.
I mean a bullgryn build with a grenadier gauntlet would be dope.
Not to mention a possible fifth class being an enforcer
There is no 5ft class,
4 Archetype starting with 1 Class each
Not at launch anyway
Plenty of possibilities for additional classes imo, especially if the class system means they're not restricting themselves to four overarching archetypes.
finally an archetype that can solo the game
A death cult assassin might make a good class option. Probably something like the invisible Kerillian career.
Probably
I think any of the assassins would be a tad too good for the rejects
Then again who knows
They made Krub a Grail Knight
Death Cults are pretty small fry for the most part, might fit in as a Zealot option?
probably
Something Invisible character pls
Darktide new enemies (Doing Slanneshi Ritual)
@celest dome Maybe it comes out with Sienna 4th Career😏 😂
omg mira, keep the 4th sienna career to the vt2 discord
!!!!
Ratlings are small sneaky fuckeds! It’s perfect
Death cult assassins would fit well as a Zealot class
NO, THEY ALREADY SAID THEYRE NOT TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARDIUM. AND IT IS A SAD DAY.
would be fucking sick though if I’m wrong
Wowwww
If an ogryn is in a rattling can be in
Well they said it about Dwarf/Squat, not the Halflo,g/Ralting so we don't really know if they are against it
They are IG, so can be
Actually I think that’s exactly why they might not do rattling because of beeeeeg Ogryn
But your thing does hold true so that’s like, my only thing to part info on
We need a Small Character too
We could also get beastmen but while they are abhumans, a shit load went to chaos so
which is stealthy
They are somewhat rare now
there is no steath in the game tho
Yes
you literally just walk past enemies and keep your distance
thats as close as you can get
I think she meant like the shadow walker if what ever it’s called from Vermintide
Halfling still Humans?
Would be fun to have someone Small and someone who is Huge like ogryn
Halfling no, Ratling yes
So same way the Ogre and the Dwarf in fantasy aren't and Ogryn/Squat are
Well Abhuman at least
Also if fat shark get sick of peole wanting a squat and they have ratling in the game, they can just give the ratling a squat costmetic

We already told ya that they are way to unstable for a group game
Not just can! It's the only option! After all, you start every run with 3 targets.
Which codex?
Ok, need more info about my House
The STC was starting to gear out and disclose more info and patterns, it might have foresaw all this shit, so Van Saar might have endured better than others... Also, we had tons of cameras inside helmwar residence... So they must have been the first to see shits hitting the fan
Van Saar dont do much in this
just stay in the background as the chaos unfolds
the protagonist of the book seems to be more or so just Escher going into TOOOOWN
Wait, there's an STC on Necromunda?
yeah since forever
What.
Also the Van Saar do a LITTLE bit of trolling
I don't follow Necromunda at all, I'll admit
Van Saar has had an Stc since a long time ago.
Though it's eerily similar to a Votann I think
finally doomfist from overwatch as a unit
Nah its not
Lmfao
the "get more cancer as you use it" is great
ez money
More than one
Actually it is since m35 iirc the time of arrival on Araneus prime
Suddenly I am very interested in Necromunda. I used to think it was just the Mr. Bean Hive World
Basically its the only fleshed out Hive City in the lore
has a lot of interesting stuff/lore
Yes! This is great!
especially with the recent House books
Woah no way
It's also an extra shitholey shithole as I understand, no? Like, particularly absolutely terrible even for a hive city / world
The concept is a bit too out there imo but most of the houses have weird stuff
It’s actually really nice mostly
Nope, there are more on Araneus than the one that Van Saar has, which btw, it is repairing itself and improving too
The lower levels suck but most of it is nice
Yeah its fucking terrible

theres public service announcements at the beginning of every book, they are amazing
BTW, Dilara, which codex is?
Once you get out of the absolute lower levels it’s one of the nicer hives, at least for the none infested hives
I'm getting mixed signals as to my next vacation destination here.
I don't think that's accurate
Necromunda even on mid hive isn't a really nice place to live in
It's not the worst but there is better
It’s still a hive but it’s mostly peaceful outside of the house wars on the bottom, Helmawr ensures they stay down there
My theory is that the Van Saar STC is interfacing to all hive primus to complete the request that it received to transform the hive in a space ship, which was a request from lord Helmwar to the Van Saar, but they concluded they couldn't... But the STC seems to be doing something on its own
Its absolutely a hellhole
theres no "peaceful" spots
even the ash wastes are filled with tusken raiders
I MEAN
googles
They talk about in the books how it’s regulated to the lower levels
Ash Waste Nomads
Like there’s still shit spots outside the hive
DIGGANOB WANNABES YOU MEAN?
Not really the same
I bet the imperial fist recruitment fortress is the nicest place on the planet
it probably is jokes aside
No legit tusken raiders
they ride giant grashoppers
YEET
Lower levels are the unregulated ones, and the higher one are regulated in the sense that you cannot use extreme explosives, but fighting is ever present, with the exception of settlements, where fighting is prohibited, and no one really break such rule, since everyone want to have a place to live
are they in the imperium?
Nope, just Necromunda
Necromunda is utterly broke the nature is dying because the Maintenance system is faulty and things like that
these got revealed like 2 months ago too
Oh wow
It’s the ironic part of Necromunda, Helmawr keeps it pretty nice overall compared to most hives.
When the power goes out in the entire hive in this book the fucking planet cools down since the hives arent generating heat anymore
One of the best place to live is new hagen i think, the Van Saar settlement, since there most of the tech stuff work and it is even quite rad free
Isn’t necromunda the one where they also released that fancy house with power shields & basically super fancy technology?
Yeah thats van saar
Van Saar
Don't the Van Saar tech leak radiation ? Like their STC
thats their only downside yeah
But their suits keep them alive longer too
cool tech > cancer
Yes, that is the nice thing, new hagen is quite rad free because of the attention it is given... Of course it is not rad free, but definitely a nice place to live
If I remember correctly, there are Hive World that are cleaner than out current one
Cinderak Burning™️ btw
Oh, and lets not forget that on Araneus prime there is a democratic hive
Which system for election is overseen by the Van Saar, like pretty much all tech
Hive worlds are inconsistent with how they’re portrayed but mostly it’s giant cities with wasteland in between, dotted by smaller cities
A mature hive planet at least is like that
Imagine not being a redemptionist. Couldn’t be me #zealotgang #TimeToDecimateSomeMutants #ThatsHowIDoIt
Terra is the only one which is really almost entirely a city across the whole world
And it still has some wastelands
Redemptionist you say uh... Let me check if the bounty is till on on your lot, helping enforcers is always a nice things, favours will be got by this
In the this book uh
the redemptionist turn on each other
Offical legal branch of the Ecclesiarchy
some saying the emperor abandoned them and ruining his imagery
Everyone
the others saying the opposite and trying to stop it
Outlawed band of criminals you mean
also yeah the redemptors are just hobos with guns
just recognized by Helmawr as to not cause trouble
You may be right I have only read the wiki pages on them
They once went full crazy and had to be put down, then they got permission to be left alone, as long they don't go up in the hive making problems
Most of the lower level gangs are small fry in the grand scheme of Necromunda, compared to the highest houses and such.
Though they do have a preacher character who apparently can stir up a mob where ever he goes.
Not the redeemer, Klovis is different
Somehow the machines keep churning stuff out despite the gang wars which permeate below, and Necromunda keeps being a stupid valuable wacky world.
Gangs can fight all they want as long as it doesn’t affect the bottom line of the world
The gang house are the one producing stuff
Helmawr also actively encourages them and says the gang-wars are their civic duty
Goliath is forged stuff
Esher chemical
which is
Van Saar high tech
When that starts fucking stuff up, is when the Enforcers come in
The IG regiment?
Ye
Yeah
We only have that one piece of old art I think
Probably not even canon anymore really
I don’t think they were even called Spyders back then
Those aren't necromundan spider
The arts so old it’s a moot point
This is a necromunda spider
These guys predate they term even I believe in art
The arts probably older than most of the people in this discord lol
Might even be RT era or shortly after
I think the original spyder design ended up becoming the Cadian look partially, at least in the concept art books
There was this really cool collection of some of the original concept art for a lot of the regiments we know now
I think this is it
its the bottom two yeah
You’re telling me van Saar tech is literally cancer?
yes
their tech leaks crazy amounts of radiation
so everything they make is more or less just a radium gun lol
Not crazy amounts, just enough
if it leaks enough to shorten life spans. its a crazy amount
Radium guns are like in reactor 4 at chernobyl levels of radiation. Killing Skitarii that have been hardened against radiation in like half an hour kinda radiation.
Why dont they just make servitors that fire it instead
Because Skitarii are way more effective
And also, grimdark
Plus, they don't use Radium weapons lightly
Servitors are dumb and need constant babysitting to do work.
Skitarii can operate effectively by themselves and adapt to the flow of battle independently of any tech-priest
Because admech need a tabletop army
Ya don't like feet?

They got that clampy ass feet
BLUHD RHEAVANS are my favorite spess murines
Because they are the best
Isn't that old lore ? Or unsure ? Because there are Skitarii Vanguard that use them for quite a long time in the books
I don’t think it’s that fast but they do burn out fairly quick
Not sure if we get a time table though or if it’s consistent
Inconsistent mostly
because the admech codex presents literally
every
gun
as killing or damaging its user for jokes/grimdark
i dont blame the authors for ignoring the tidbits too much
Yeah they have that one walker thing that does it too
It’s like, can we have a different gimmick plz?
Oh oh, let me point out that the archeotopter is one of such dumb design
And their tanks too iirc
Probably, not really clear right now
I would assume though based off how they’re doing variants
one big question, how the hell can the Imperium of man accept mutants and tech modification, literal flying skull computers but scream heresy and warp on killer robot flesh assassin, while they have warp touched assassins? 😄
You're gonna have to be more precise, what is the thing that isn't allowed ?
is the 20th legion loyalists or heretical
yes
so. are the lyrics in the soundtrack high gothic?
Schrodinger's XXth Legion
They are all traitors
the Alpha Legion has never made an attempt to help the Imperium in any way
people just like to meme about their allegience a lot
Basically as with any fascist empre; hypocrisy
and whatever serves their needs at the time
yeah i assumed the hypocracy and irony was kind of the whole point
the alpha legion lore i know has honestly given me a headache trying to understand it lol
but then they turn around and sometime they just randomly draw a line and kill each other over it? 😄
yes
neat
Im not kidding, there is nothing to understand.
They are traitors
we think™️
is the "emperor" was touched / augmented by the warp ?
what if they know something we dont
Rob Sanders' excellent Sons of the Hydra has a group that believe they're serving the Imperium by making it stronger. ||They turn out to none of them be original alpha legionnaires, and the original alpha legionnaires they meet are fully tentacled. One warlord is obsessed with killing ultramarines after Guilliman killed Omegon/Alpharius as Eskrandor. The protagonists are 'just' imperial renegades who read old Alpha Legion material and rebranded themselves.||

no i mean the whole "alpharius was the first primarch the emperor reclaimed. but that is a lie" and stuff like that
that yeah we dont know because its left ambiguous
but its pretty much a lie most likely because Alpharius' tactic is making his enemies overthink
i'm alpharius, you're alpharius, we're all alpharius
and damn if it doesnt work
yeah the AL entire deal is making people overthink when the answer is right infront of them
BUT
I doubt they'd make an entire book a lie because that would just be stupid

Alpharius says the story himself
i know lol
thats what i meanm
I mean
like i said, he makes people overthink
he did the same with dorn
and Dorn saw through that shit
But either way it doesnt matter much since every AL Marine in lore is chaos alligned since writers cant do anything else with them.
is it still canon that they where the only traitor legion to not flee to the eye of terror after the battle of terra?
No they went there too
^
lol
who are cooler
After one of the twins died they all just went
the dark angels or the fallen angels
"EVERYONE FOR THEMSELVES"
Fallen have cooler colors
Fallen are literally playdough
alright thats all i need 2 know
Changing the Dark Angel color scheme was a mistake
to be fair
what was their OG color scheme?
Black and grey with red highlights
thats badass
It’s so cool
but I get why they changed it
they are also all bald
Branding
you dont want 3 founding chapters with black colors
thats how u know they are evil
still a fairly bright green doesnt fit with the name "dark angels"
i like the hoods
like if I was gonna paint an astartes model it'd be a dark angel
instead i paint admech
Ratling Class in DT?
maybe
best to assume no for right now tho

Lmao
Evrey day repeats
that'd be an archetype so prob not any time soon
they plan to do classes, so i'd expect extra versions of vet/ogryn/psyker/zealot first
They don't want to do Squat because it would be Bardin but in space
Do you think it would have the same effect on Ratling ?
i think any short race is out because the maps have been designed for the opposite scale
It would be Bardin in space
LOL
Hahaha
tbh vet is already kruber in space so idk if bardin in space is a problem
