I've seen them win some crazy outnumbered battles because they're just so strong

Not overpowered since their points costs are huge

That's the issue with horde armies, their damage output drops proportionately (sometimes) to the amount of damage they take. Elite armies, not quite so much.

afaik tau infantry almost exclusively use plasma-type weapons, plus the rail rifle, so if that's what you're going for, probably almost exclusively burns and warped metal

battlesuits are more diverse, although most of what i'm seeing added to the mechanized arsenal looks to be melta weapons and explosives, so honestly more of the same
