The metal recipe i use for terrain at least is leadbelcher, 2 coats nuln oil and then a drybrush of necron compound, simple but effective. I recommend to apply some kind of varnish to it tho

It's too streaky.
But it's the ULTIMATE undercoat.

It darkens recesses and colour primed areas.
Helps other colours really stick/pop
And I just have to accept that at first this whole thing is going to be a MASSIVE mess.
