There is a lot and you can select up to 9 normal Troopers and each other operative can be selected a maximum of once. The powerful thing here is that you have 4 different gunners, however, you are limited by what you can build with the kit. You do get the ability to build each operative but a lot of them share parts and poses which limit your ability to work with a single kit slightly. So for example, the gunners basically take up the same spures.

And then a second, thinned layer paint for the top coat.

Except my capes/shoulders I like using multiple coats of contrast and shades/thinned contrasts.

It gives a really nice glazed effect.

And contrast work really well as a very thin ink layer so that I don't lose any definition in details.

I've got a whole story for the reason, the battle taking place, etc. for the Diorama.

Long story short, this was a major defensive Imperium controlled planet that the Inquisition just recently discovered is also a tomb world. All the Imperium is aware of is that the Orks are beginning a major invasion of this planet and they believe it's just to take it back from the Imperium... but little do they know is that Tzeench has a plan set in motion that the battle on the planet will awaken the tomb world beneath and cause a mass invasion on local Imperium planets. So Bobby, being one of the very few who is aware of the secret of the tomb world sends his finest in the guise of DW to "stop the Ork invasion". But is also hoping to keep the tomb world slumbering before they lose this major defensive hold.

So there's going to be Orks (with Ghaz) storming an imperium fortress citadel built into the mountains of the planet. High above on the opposite side of the ravine will be 1K son sorcerers/marines casting magics to cause mayhem in the fight. And underneath will be a side view of below the planet's crust and a tomb world flickering to life.

Just slowly built a narrative in my head and I'm running with it.

I primed everything white. I use contrasts as my base paints.

Its very time consuming, but I love my end result.

So they're extremely thin layers. They get a nice catch of the colour I'm going to be layering over. They sit in crevices really well.

So they have a nice reverse dry brush as a base layer.

And when you do dry brush/paint over it you have darkened crevices still where the contrast pooled.

I used a ton of different colours.

Black templar contrast.

Ultramarine blue contrast.

Flesh tearer red contrast.

Bassilicanum grey contrast.

For my shoulder pads/capes/cloth I use build-up layers of contrast on white only.

So once I actually paint my layer over the contrast it gets a great colour to it.

This is just with contrasts, but great example of what happens.

The reality of there being tons of other legions still around is small because of the lack/mutations in gene seed. Ultramarines are basically mass produced. They're the "cadians" of Imperial Guardsmen. They have to have tons to protect all their planets and stuff.
