I personally think the Primaris cut with what the marines were intended to be at some level.
Just because Primaris are hyper specialised in one thing meanwhile the former marines were more "adapt on the spot".
But their design's pretty cool, I like the fact that they are all using the same basis for armor and just add or remove pieces depending of your job
