I bought a sample set at my lgs to get started, the size of magnet to use will depend on how heavy the parts are that you're trying to magnetize
Depending on the pieces, you'll probably want a way to carve a small hole to place the magnet in the part, like a drill bit in a pin vice
And green stuff is useful in case you make the hole too big, you want it nice and snug because super glue works best in very small gaps

It's basically like a putty.
Warm it gently, place and mold and form at will.
From there you can prime and paint, I think. Not sure if there's any special setting spray or whatever past it.

id say easy of play wise
dark heresy 2e > rogue trader > only war
only war can be spooky because military focus campaign, rogue trader is more freeform but is an older ruleset and dark heresy 2e was the last rulebook set to come out and is pretty clean

@crisp olive I think it truly depends on what kind of glue you're using and if you've already painted/etc.
I think you could get away with using some lightly thinned Elmer's glue (extra strength, not the easy water cleanup junk) and it may lay into those lines well enough while also still being able to have primer sit on then.
Some of the other glues can be harsh and strip paints away or not hold primer/paint as well as it could/should.
But I've never tried. So be wary.

You'll get better grip with glue that way
Rough surfaces work better in these situations because it gives some areas for the glue to conform to a shape that won't slide out as easily

If thin enough it should slide off the main top and pool into a red glaze below.

I play Slaanesh in AoS which is prob bottom of B tier
