Csp as people have said, i use custom brushes from the user made resources that emulate real pencils

Yeah, i use other peoples custom brushes or i make my own, but you also don't NEED fancy brushes to do things. When i paint in photoshop i pretty much use the default round brush with transfer set to pen pressure. Like these that i shared the other day are all painted with the default round brush in PS

Ive used Sai, Photoshop, clip studio, and procreate pretty extensively and out of all of them id recommend CSP for painting and drawing just because of the balance of functionality and accessibility/cost (i mean, unless you pirate everything). Like, i like ps but Adobe pricing is a scam and it's not intended as a painting program so the brushes dont behave "realistically" like the others, and sai last i checked you had to use an unofficial translation of the program (and i still think csp is better overall). And procreate requires an ipad.

Csp even has like, a built in 3d model posing tool so you can create your own reference material to work from. And if you do any sort of comics or sequential art their screentone functions are pretty great. For $25-50 USD you can't beat it. Procreate is technically cheaper but like i said, requires an ipad

depends on what you do too. i can do ink with the default brush, but for sketching like here i found it to be impractical and too unrealistic. that being said you paint way more than i do, most of my stuff is geared towards the looks of trad pencil drawings or ink and i want brushes that behave accordingly

what needs to be said is that CSP doesn't have some of the extensive editing and masking options that PS provides

Photoshop is more of a general image editing tool like inquisitor mentioned so it does have a lot useful things that make it worth having even if you mainly use another program. Most other programs can read photoshop files so it's nice to have of you just want to make a few touch ups and export the file. It is unfortunately slow and a huge memory hog. Depending on your rig it can behave like it's held together as well as ork tech.

You get the luck of avoiding all the crazy "would be director" types,. Re: sound. Probably won't be hard to find fellow students to do that, especially with lockdown and letting them using it for portfolio etc
