Oh yeah you'll do fine without it, especially if ur opponent is on the same page. Like, there's a big difference between super competitive lists and just fun fluffy ones, one going up against the other is never fun

That kinda depends, how do you wanna use your regular fire warriors? Like, as a static-ish gunline all stacking firepower or do you wanna split them into a bunch of smol squads to go after objectives while your other components do the heavy lifting

If it's the latter I'd say go for it with the breachers yea. It might not be optimal, you need to be very very close with breachers to get much value and that can be crazy risky against melee armies, but who doesn't love shotgun tau

Uh not sure about that one. Iirc t'au is usually accepted as the best Sept if the hitting on 5 on overwatch rule is still a thing, but on lower points games without that many fire warriors in one place you might not get so much value from that

Like. By my perception there are kinda three tiers to Tau space. There's the actual empire itself, then there are the planets that are under immediate tau influence/are currently being conquested or assimilated by the tau, and then there are the most distant imperial planets that are only just starting on the process of assimilation and acclimation to the tau
these guys would be operating in the third, really far away from the main empire
