Probably past the most stressful step, super glued the torso back to the hip part and the right foot to the front plate of the downed dread. Left the ankles unglued for the time being in case I end up making an uneven terrain to the base

Painted it first quite clear and smudged it about with oils. Did some volumes again with whites to bring back the contrast though

Oils were earthy tones, burnt and raw umber, probably some burnt sienna as well

primer and the matte agent within hobby paint having a very high particle size

most hobby paint doesnt use enough orotan so aggregates of the matte agent form and it will cause a very chalky texture

orotan is a special type of surfactant called a wetting agent used in paint

i use vallejo model primer in a rattle can and army painter fanatic line currently

a few pots from the citadel starter set

The problem is is that you'd have to go professional artist paint if you want something smoother. Which means a heavy money investment since you need cadmium or bismuth.

So your best option is to just get better

And it will come over time

The green is tesseract glow and waystone green over white then the brass is Runelord brass

use a UVL varnish over that, mr hobby has a UVL variant and most autotimovtive ones have the UVL additive. Tesseract glow uses a fluo which means it will darken very quickly when exposed to UV light. Its general half life is about a week

a UVL varnish, not a normal varnish, will extend that to about a year

was thinking blackfangs, but the planet i rolled on has a high toxic environment which means helmets even when theyre in their fortress chapel world. Maybe Nox Fangs (a play on noxious like gas and also the high gothic word for night/darkness since theyre a black ops focused chapter)

definitely wanna do a look like the death company with mainly black and red, some dulled gold/brass accents to give a nod to their progenitors (also rolled a close relationship with the Salamanders which i feel was super lucky on the SM chart)

Get a UVL varnish for that, fluos darken really badly very quickly. Average time before they turn nearly black is about 2-3 weeks
