I used 1-2 layers of old gold from Vallejo usually covers in one very nicely, than a water downed wash of agrax earthshade from citadel let dry than pick out some details and clean up w that old gold again

Uh, depends. So I got a jupiter SE, that costs ~650 before tax. It can print Titans. ABS-like resin to mimic plastic costs $25.99 a liquid KG

In materials, and with proper set-up, you can print a Chimera in 5.2 hours with the right settings. It only cost me $7.75 (234.7 ml) in materials as a cost-ratio to what I paid in materials (Chitu Box will calculate Cost per ounce based on how much you paid for the material)

Three of those "possessed" armors cost me 2 hours of time and $0.25 to print

So it is an expensive buy-in, but depending on what you're printing the savings outweigh it. And if you make / sell custom bits or models, you can recoup the cost

Alternatively you don't need 600 bucks for a 3d printer to get started, I paid 200 bucks for the anycubic 4 mono on sale at Amazon and I have been very satisfied with it so far for the cost

A full plate like this took under a hour as well

But there is a fair amount of trial and error associated with resin 3d printing, if you aren't careful you can end up ruining the machine, or compromising your health

For example, I thought that I had got all the stuff out from a failed 3d print and went to printer another and my fep film got damaged, and I ended up scratching it so I had to replace it, my lesson being that whenever a print fails you should at bare minimum do a vat clean, and it doesn't hurt to re-filter it to your bottle and clean the vat, 50 dollar mistake there

I currently own grey seer and wraithbone as primers which looks good for the generally slightly lighter colours I usually paint in but I'll be doing some plague marines and blood ravens soon and I was curious if I should get chaos black as a primer? Or am I simply overthinking it and it doesn't really matter?

Could grab a can of Death Guard Green for the plauge marines, and grey or wraith I could see being fine for Blood ravens if you dont mind a slightly bright red. I prime everything in Black personally

Pretty much that, Instant shadows for hard to reach places/ Spots you cant get a wash in.

I also enjoy the slight darkness that each color gets from a black prime, where a grey or white will make the colors on top brighter ( depending on how thin your paint layers are)

A technique that I see alot is: Black prime, then a grey spray from whatever direction you want your fake light to come from. Gives it that nice lighting effect minimal effort

Which lighting looks the best?

I kinda like the warmer lighting because it looks like they're going to Mexico or Africa on a drama filter but I know that isn't visually as showing

I also think I like the distinct line in the background to help draw it as a 3d space

I think you should do a 30 degree directional to the left or right and a 30 degree angle pointing down. Assuming the light's "0,0" is pointing straight ahead visually at a 90 degree

For each noise marine unit you get 6 attacks at 10 str 3 damage, enough to kill tanks

Well they can shoot wide band attack, 12 attacks with like 6 str 1 damage a piece. Combined with the lesser weapons it's often enough to clean up like 10-15 fragile models

An issue i noticed on these prints comes up on the head or elbows missing like 1 tiny tiny often unnoticable support leading to a random flat or drooping of the area. One sgt has this issue on his face, and the static non combat posture marines got flat elbows
