Thanks! I wanted my Biologis to be clean not like my Reivers/Infiltrator/Heavy Intercessors. In my head canon, Biologis would go after battle, even with the gravis armor, to retrieve all the geneseed he could, without being harmed, a cold and pragmatic way fitting the Raptors, that's why he is so clean

I have used my 3 primer can, White/green/black for the color where i could, then using shades -Athonian Camoshade/Nul Oil and Agrax, glimmer - Retributor/ Runefanfg and Leadbelcher, and finally contrast paint -Templar Black/Baal Red/Frostheart Blue and Karandras green to do the final touch

I use imperial fists contrast for the base yellow, when I finish that coat, I use 1 goregrunta 3 technical medium and apply above the yellow coat. The results is the left mini at my picture.

After that, drybrush with white, aplying in borders and tapping in the armour to create some texture.

Finally, a coat of imperial fist yellow contrast in the white zones, ONLY the white ones

With that i get a yellow like this:

No metallic paints were used, it's mostly Vallejo neutral grey. Mixed with burnt umber and black for the base/shadows, and mixed a very little of with Phthalo blue for mid tones, and mixed with tan earth and white for highlights.

Realized that might've not been what you asked, I built up the volume with small semi-random squiggles towards the area I wanted highlighted, every layer with a lighter mix, giving it some nice texture and irregularity. After the highlights were in place I glazed over the roughest transitions for a smoother look

The best advice you'll probably get from here is... Thin your paints.

You need to build up muscle memory which takes time and practice. No amount of tutorials or anything of that nature can help, but it will come as long as you keep doing it.

But otherwise, yea, nothing beats practice

well sure, how easy it is depends on if the head is a separate piece rahter than sculpted on to the torso piece for example

Do you have any advice for using shade paints? The only one I have is Agrax Earthshade

Generally all I know is from experience, it’s pretty good for recesses and edges. I also like to use it on metallics & since I’m painting up death guard I like to use it to give them stains and streaks of grime to look extra fetid

Having less of it on your brush generally helps you with the control of it, helps you keep it in the areas you want it and won't pool too much. I'm pretty poor at giving tips or instructions, sorry 😄

Yes, official websites says it includes a 1x 64-page softcover Warhammer 40,000 Starter Set Handbook. However, this is more of simplified 40k rulebook unique to the starter sets.
