Looks awesome so far. Around crudely implemented cybernetics I like to mix 1:1 carroburg crimson and druchii violet with a touch of lahmian medium. Apply darker closer to the cybernetic and fade it out

Light to dark is easier but mini painters do dark to light.

The reality is it really depends on the pigment that you're using.

Like if you're trying to work into black, you really want to do light to dark because of how hardcore the tint strength of black is

tbh I always start light then move dark. This is the secret as to how I completed 4500 points of space marines in a week.

Its faster but requires you to think in terms of pigments and pigment properties rather than opacity

A lot of people prefer the walker version from forge world, forgot what it’s called, same weapons but less cost and durability. But it looks cooler. This one is a games workshop miniature.

Any tips for working with plasticard?

Erm. Have two hobby knives, one fresh and sharp for precision cutting (millimetres matter) and one that you can abuse for scraping and carving.
Also have a fine felt tipped pen for marking measurements. The markings can easily wipe off, but if you lightly score a little cut with your blade and mark over it with pen then it will leave a hairline marking.
Also, save your off-cuts. if you're cutting interesting shapes out of plasticard you're also creating interesting shaped scrap bits that might fit or look good somewhere else. Any triangle pieces or long thin rectangles are good to hang onto for later use. Nothing better than needing a strip of card and already having a piece cut.

I’ll have to give it a shot. I’ve attempted some sculpting with GS and always struggled with hard angles, so the plasticard may be what I need

If you need to make multiples of the same shape, cut some pieces and glue them together with a small spot of super glue. Then you can shape them all out together. Then to separate just carefully run your blade between them to separate the glue.

only rarely is that too thick

And yeah, Greenstuff is not good for sharp edges. Try mixing Milliput and greenstuff 50/50, it's pretty good. Milliput on its own is a little too crumbly but mixed with green stuff they balance eachother out very well.
I only recently started using them together after a long time of using GS and I'm pretty impressed with its workability

Milliput is great for filling in gaps and can be sanded smooth. But Greenstuff is better for flowing robes, cloth, fire, hair ect

You can also just add acetone to the citadel bottle and it will be the same thing.

So i plan to paint the armor with black legion, then layer it up with corvus black, glazed with eshin grey on rounded parts, highlight with 1:1 eshin grey and administratum grey,then spot highlight pure admin grey, all trim will be gunmetal, highlighted with runefang steel then vallejo model air chrome

But im drawing a blank on the pants, they're for sure a warm grey. Would grey seer>highlighted with dawnstone>highlight administratum gray>wash with thinned basilicanum grey make them look different enough fron the highlighted armor

It’s more so the homogenization of the faction I believe than anything else (which on one hand I get because losing flavor of an army you’ve had for decades plus sucks, on the other hand it doesn’t stop you from either playing older editions or proxying.) Though I do agree that if the niche factions were as popular as people like to say they are, GW would have done something with them.

And while I don’t agree necessarily that the infantry squad as a whole should’ve been dropped as it seems in particular the more casual grey beards in the hobby took a hit more than anyone else, for new players it didn’t make much sense to have to buy multiple kits and bash parts together to get an optimal loadout.

It’s fun but it doesn’t feel like a war game.

Warcry is very fun but it’s due for a refresh.

I literally couldn't convince myself to buy the box and I exclusively paint Krieg, I took extra hours at work so I could comfortably afford spending the money on it and avoided all the leaks and im just, idk, really really not into it

Only the customers can show the producer if they are disappointed through their buying behavior... If this box sells like hell, GW will stick to that... if this box flops it could be that GW takes a second thought on that...

No, it's just a pose. When that unit is selected to shoot, you can have either all of them use their plasma incinerators or pistols :3

Not sure if you’re going for a power sword look but i’ve had success by doing 3-4 colors stippled on from lightest to darkest from the inside out, followed by a glaze of the medium tone to smooth everything out

I havent seen much of the votann miniatures- that guy’s jacket is pretty cool. I wish they had more prominent beards though

Too cold to prime some miniatures so the building continued

Most bits are sourced from the blooded kit and the new genestealer brood brothers. First time working with these new cadian bits as well

Think a few more spikey bits/battle damage are in order but I like how they’re almost inverse of one another - one dour and grim faced whereas the other finds enjoyment in his bloody handed work
