Gotta save time where you can, right?
Right
I like to believe that flaws is where the "art" is. Otherwise might as well just have a production line perfect paint every model.
My boyfriends army that he got to play for the first time (I think) today
He's got more but
Those are his regs
He has space marines too but he's got his own Faction and lore for them
looks like a warhound
legions imperialis?
nope, it was just a pile of 3D printed parts
someone else in another server identified it quick though
Adeptus Titanicus Warbringer Nemesis titan
thats a big gun
its for an old game called adeptus titanicus
you gonna build it?
might as well haha, it was free
sick
tbh i love her character (hot powerful lady
) i just wish she can be taken in an eldar army
shes so cool BUT SO EXPENSIVE
she costs as much as my celestine
worst part, thats pretty nromal for 2 named characters
check amaozn first
her model looks REALLY fun to paint, but I have to do my grayfax this christmas break
they are alot cheaper
im workng on my stormbringer/warcry stuff
im thinking after those ill probbaly look at 40k again
i found an ebay link with just her and not the elf guy, which is irrelevent to me.
for 40 bucks free shipping
lmao thats trash
yea
I have so many fuckin' models to paint
Most of them Etsy
I got an Etsy Baneblade on the way, too
Manned by Not!Kriegsmen, too
yea. ill have to think about it. ive got a grayfax and celestine to paint still haha. but i love this model so much!!
That is one thick lad
Real
Trying to come up with a name for him rn for my home brew dudes
thiccy
Tempting
naw, it helps a lot in most cases honestly
there is the difference between an artful flaw and major flaws that can cause damage to the work itself
It hasn't been THAT long since 2018
is that how old it is? haha i have no idea. I dont play epic and im not really interested haha.
yea thats pretty recent.
The old original epic/Adeptus Titanicus is old but that's from the rebooted edition
Original is from 1988
It was rebooted in 2018 after almost two decades of no releases
(it's very good btw)
Pretty much the most fun GW game I've played
Unrelated but big things happened last night, won two silver awards from Miniature Painting Open 2023. Wasn't really expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised
In standard unit and standard vehicle/warmachine categories
Entries in question
Stats how the awards were distributed
contemptors look so cool
Indeed they do! Wasn't really much of a fan before I took a crack at mine and now I really like them
Congrats! Seeing your work here that seems well deserved.
I was thinking, considering how rusted the skeletons' gear is, it'd be cool if the purple cloaks were faded in color, like they had been exposed to centuries of sunlight.
Thanks! Honestly didn't think of that but I feel I like the striking high contrast how it turned out, but the faded look could be very nice as well
Can I ask how you did the edges on the contemptor? Is that oil paint or acrylics?
Like the browns? I did base them with acrylics and then oils on top of it
Both before any oils. Before acrylic chipping and after it
Thanks! Lots to learn š looks really good.
Im learning greenstuff to make my mildly barbaric imperial guard
It's the salame guard? š
nope, homebrew stuff
i see EVERYONE paint the AoS skeletons. Every painting youtuber, so many people paint those models and show it off lol. makes sense, it looks very cool. congratulations!
Why does this remind me of Resistance's chimera?
please dont tell me the brand as I will judge you heavily
of the oils? Van Gogh
Thank you! š
it's pretty much the only one readily available
Results are all that matters. :>
afaik Winsor & Newton is artist grade or whatever but they're always sold out
or just not sold here
dont make me ship you oils
ehh, i have a feud with gamblin but most people in conservation do
me waiting impatiently for my paycheck so I can begin guard
stop waiting for paaychecks and get them now with a new trick they dont want you to know called ransom
Unfortunately ransom doesnāt work so well when you work with children
Mainly cuz you have to join a completely new job industry afterwards lol
Iām gonna have an army of headless guard anyways until the helmets Iāve ordered arrive
š I wish
Itās gonna be so strange though, Iām going to put more effort into detailing the guardsman than I will my space marines
you paint a squig like a squig
I'm not sure if I have the right shade of red for squig base
I have mephiston, wazdakka, evil sun skarlet, wild rider red, trolslayer orange, fire dragon blight and blood angels red contrast
And in vallejo I have bloody red and scarlet red
But I don't know if it's right, maybe I need a burnt umber, like rhinox hide
It's a squig, not an electrical junction box in a factory; it doesn't need to have a specified RAL colour, unless you're trying to mimic box art.
I'm designing some custom Power Armor models inspired by the old RT art, particularly the LE10 power armored trooper (2nd image).
Currently this is what I've got for the torso, But i'd like to ask, does this seems like im going in a good direction?
Bit late but no, Im making my own regiment named Scythian Gromtroopers, based roughly on central europe and eastern step people
Don't mind me, I was just poking fun, as the green stuff looked like hanging sausages to me š I mean no offense, though.
They also accidentaly look like half life 1 soldiers
No, no sausage is very european, its okay
I should in fact roll some green stuff sausages
Hey, some very cool dudes!
MY ASS IS HEAVY
its probably been done but painting some enforcers as HL2 combine would be pretty cool
Then DO it
HEll yeah
IVE ALREADY GOT ENOUGH ON MY PLATE!!
āPick up that can, scum.ā
So I painted a resin mini for a buddy of mine but I don't like how it turned out, can I just soak it in isopropyl alcohol to remove the paint? Or will that melt the mini too
as long as its cured it should be good
its not a bucket of tamiya :>
It's been mentioned about using Isopropyl Alcohol to take paint off Resin miniatures, so we give it a go
after cleaning the whole tub worth, i emphasise USE GLOVES! it's a nightmare to clean off fingers so i'm going to use latex gloves and a mask next time
i used this stuff -

Removing Paint from M...
was doing some googling and found a video of a guy who did it no problems.
MY KNIGHT SHIPMENT TIME GOT DELAYED
The arbites showing me what they got from the nurgle gang raid
D:
Nooo, christmas is a comfy time to paint
yeah sad times, gives me time to wait for my 3rd party helmets to ship at least I guess
Whats up with the super small knights Iāve been seeing on the GW website
Legiones Imperialis
its like
40k if they shrunk it 5 times
so it has a focus on titans and tanks
I randomly got sent a free titan from Adeptus Titanicus this week by mistake
i have no instructions for it though haha
my 40 foot tall sister of battle amid the remains of the titan she just ripped apart with her bare hands
Canāt go wrong with a warbringer, and yeah itās smol, because hereās a same scale knight for reference
maybe this is a sign epic is cool haha
but tbh Im just getting into this as a hobby so... Ill finish my sisters of battle inquisition army first
How exactly do I apply waterslides correctly?
I have 'ard coat, matte medium, micro sol and micro set
Another infiltrator done!
depends on the resin
Iām fairly new to 40k, looking to play dark angels and just now looking into list building. I have a question: can I run a Deathwing command squad, which contains one Deathwing Ancient, one Deathwing Apothecary, one Deathwing Champion, and two Deathwing Terminators, with an attached Deathwing Strikemaster, an attached Terminator Chaplain, and an attached terminator Captain? Iām still very unsure of how the attaching works and what limitations are, especially for Deathwing command squad as it already has three unique models built in. Any guidance is appreciated!
Me rn:
You can probably find PDFs of the instructions
look at the datacard of the unit you want to attach. for my army, for example, the Palatine says exactly what she can attach too. Each leader has the trait Leader and some rules text that says what it can lead.
I'll Google it rn
Thanks! I think where Iām most confused is, how many models with the āleaderā keyword can be attached to any given unit? All of the leader models Iām considering, I believe, can be attached to a Deathwing command squad, but Iām wondering if thereās a limit to how many can be attached.
usually the leader keyword says you can only have 1, but sometimes the datacard will say something that let's it have more than 1
See how the Canoness just says what it can attach too?
Then the Imagifier has specific rules that let it join a squad that has one of 3 other units.
that confused the crap out of me too
i found them very easily actually
Yippie
Infiltrator and incursor shenanigans as I begin to finish them up
Okay, so if Iām understanding correctly, I could have a Chaplain in Terminator armor, or a Deathwing Strikemaster, leading my Deathwing Command Squad, but not both attached, based on the Strikemaster saying he can be attached even if another ācaptainā keyword has already been attached, and unfortunately the chaplain has the āchaplainā keyword instead of ācaptainā keyword.
If thatās correct that kinda sucks, cause I really wanted both and the Strikemaster allows for another leader to be attached, but it just has to also be a captain leader.
Yea i HAVE heard rumblings about that
that the space marine leader options are really wierdly restrictive and make no sense
Ork boyz have an ability like this as well.
As long as they 20 strong starting, and have a normal warboss attached, they have one more leader unit attached as well. If all the boyz die, they get to be solo units.
Infiltrator commsman
those crystals are dope what are they?
Iāve heard dark angels may be getting a new codex in spring 2024. Apparently we donāt currently have an actual codex for them in 10th edition, and itās just an index of data cards and detachment rules thatās currently available. Does anyone know if the codex release is likely to greatly change and buff/nerf various dark angels units and mechanics from how they currently work? Or is the codex just an official book containing all the same already released index, datasheets, and detachment rules + pretty art and lore stuff?
Trying to determine how safe it is to be buying dark angels specific units and trying to listbuild before this new codex arrives and potentially wrecks any plans Iām making
the codex is generally a big buff
the biggest change is you will get new detachment rules which can really change how the army plays
Squig ready to get some colour
he red now
Black guardian weapon team
So I'm going to to be painting Mt deffkoptaz and dredd soon which have a lot of armor plus little mechanical bits, can I just base the entire model in averland sunset then go over the metal parts with various Metallics? Will that end up looking weird?
Should I go over with handbrushed administratum gray first?
Lookin good
depends on the metallic
I see, so for any light Metallics I'll go back over with a gray to match my primer to at least bring it back to baseline
Really gonna try to make something impressive this time
use brown or black
Yeah that would be helpful to give me a frame of reference thanks!
Just picked up the Flesh-Eater Courts box, I just pray GW give my finances time to heal before they release the Ushoran model.
And a good way to highlight averland sunset would be a chunky highlight of phalanx yellow, thin highlight of flashgitz and then a top highlight of dorn yellow?
the base layer is almost dry enough to put on the metallic
the base is close enough to the things you use
not exact
Thanks dude i appreciate it
left is kuratake gold mica, middle is leadbelcher, right is lascaux studio bronze deep gold
the kuratake ink is very high end and incredibly delicate, one of the best golds on the market
Damn that is a very nice Gold. I may have to invest in that when I paint my custodes
And I think thr brown undercoat is giving me the dirty metal look I wanna go for
its like $15 for a 60ml so a bit expensive
Oh that's not terrible
Compared to hobby paints, no
its cheap
compared to professional products, its very expensive
The world of art products is vast and confusing lol
its simple once you figure the base of it all out
its just very vast and tons of brands who do so many things
and they tend to all do things differently or slightly differently
My biggest pet peeve is when I look up a painting tutorial and they have like 9 different paint brands
My tutorials all focus around specific pigments, not brands
Especially because where I live, my only options for paint if I want it same day is vallejo, citadel, mission, or Tamiya
which the brand in most cases is irrelevant
got an art store near you?
or hell, a craft store
Only the big box stores, hobby lobby, Michael's etc
with a coupon those should be "fine"
but seriously, swap rhinox hide with golden soflat burnt umber
similar color space, but its much higher quality AND you can do more with it
their burnt umber is currently my fav
I need to try their oil paint version out
if its the same, i'll be getting that
Will do! I'll order some today, I need a good burnt umber to base coat my squigs
Holy shit its 18 bucks for 120ml?
That's cheap
And it's normal acrylic paint?
Thin with distilled water and all?
its cheaper from an actual art store
like $11
yes and yes
Any other recommendations while I'm there
I'm painting flesh tearers so I'll be painting a lot of black
their black is good
same price too
get their white(probably the high flow version though as its so much easier)
diarylide yellow and benz yellow are good and clean yellows
bismuth vanadate is god tier yellow but extremely expensive
its bright and opaque
pyrrole orange makes mixing skin tones stupid simple
i adore yellow ochre/oxide
dioxazine violet has no replacement
also keep in mind the bottles will have a swatch of paint on them to show the color and transparency
the only ones that are slightly misleading are cobalts and cadmiums, those tend to be more transparent on the bottle than in reality
transparent red oxide is also a thing that you should get
its one of those weird things that you'll be like "This has no us.... wait i can use this for too much"
its expensive but it fills so many niche roles for color mixing
also god tier rust
base burnt umber, glaze on some trans red oxide
easy and looks good
zinc white is something I use a ton but I dont know if you'd get much use out of it, i use it as a replacement for lead white in acrylics
brights slightly unlike titanium white which overpowers
mix in a little benz yellow to it and it brights stupidly well
zinc is how I do all my nmm work
and get those smooth blends
its a very advanced thing compared to most other things I do
I'm gonna add all that to my shopping list, I need to work on my blending/glazing. It's easily my weakest skill att he moment
But thankfully post Christmas I'll have a bunch of cash and my girl is into warhammer now too so we can both get more paint
well anytime you want a tutor i'll be glad to show you some things
that offer is still on the table
I'll tell her about that. She's painting black and gold thousand sun's. Appreciate it corpse š thankfully I'll have some time too so I'll take you up on that post holiday
Because I'm trapped at work 12 hours a day til the 26th lol
sounds like my days
so fuck that
Corpse, I have a question. If I wanted to paint in acrylic paints is there any real downside to just buying a big jar of different primary colors and just mixing the colors yourself
instead of buying all these pots of oh so specific colors
just learning to mix the paints yourself
None at all, and I'd be glad to teach you the basics
most videos about it are just flat out wrong
and all the hobby ones I've seen are based off a system made in the 1920s that was disproven in the 1820s, yes those dates are correct
We've known its wrong for hundreds of years, but "its easy" supposedly
so if Im not trying to be too fancy I can just get any big jug of acrylic paints and mix/thin them to where I want and get basically the same results Id get from Vallejo/Citadel mini paints
I realize different paint brands have like
a certain amount of pigment in them and cheaper ones have bigger particles of pigment which can make them "worse" for some applications
but its kind of hard to research how good "cheap crappy" acrylics are and if I can still get good results for mini painting with it
cause 99% of all mini painters use stuff like citadel/army/vallejo
or some more niche brands

Howdy guys, my wife got me this servitor skull for Christmas and I wanna paint it but I've never painted anything model wise before, any tips so I don't butcher this guy?
nothing outside the painting basics
thin your paints, put a primer layer down first, take your time
Thanks G
If its something like resin from forgeworld, make sure to wash off the coating they apply.
I'm pretty sure it's 3D printed, wife got it off etsy but I'll ask her who made it.
@sinful depot they from greenstuffworld came in a containter of 100
Bet
Think they have one that glows green and they have some that dont glow
Is blood angels red contrast an appropriate shade for flesh tearers?
Or do I NEED flesh tearers red
just look into golden or acrylic gouache
You can use what ever you want to
if someone bitches, just call it a successor chapter
are you testing out schemes?
No just painting Biel Tan and Alaitoc for Christmas gifts and also have fun with color schemes I haven't tried
oh ok nice
I assume youāre done with them by now?
Yeah I'd so
Hey guys, im pretty fresh to the lore, but have been playing warhammer since i was a kid(videogames). This week, ill buy my first ever minis/army. I was thinking of necrons or maybe black templars? If anyone has any recommendations, iād love to hear them!
which do you think looks cooler?
Necrons or templars, because they look cool and colors are very basic for a start
Does it matter which i get if im trying to play the game itself with the minis?
I mean they have different playstyles etc, depends what you play, sometimes some army gets the arse end of the edition but In the end doesnt really matter as long as you like what you got before hand
with no experience before hand get what is cool and then you can learn how they play after
I appreciate the advice! One last question though if you dont mind
Of course, im not a genie I dont refuse to speak after 3 lol
Im a big fan of the Adeptus mechanicus, like im a machine spirit enjoyer etc, are they viable and worth getting in your personal opinion?
I have no idea how they play honestly, theyve too many words for me to brave looking at their rules
Does playstyle matter? Crons are a tanky, slightly versatile shooting army and templars are a fast, tankier than average melee army for the most part
even if a faction might suck, if you play to its strengths it doesnt really matter if theyre viable or not
Mmmm
In this case ill start with the templars
Can you merge armies and minis?
10th edition no, they decided allies are stupid
So i can have blood ravens and templars for example under the same thing
Itās edition based
oh that yeah, they made it so that space marines dont have say specific chapter rules
just detachment rules
so you can have the specific units from a chapter but use the detachment rule that might be associated with a different chapter
colour scheme doesnt matter
Alright that helps a lot! Every how often do the editions change?
Is it random or timed for example
depends how long they wanna milk it out
got about a year or 2 before they even get through all the rules so plenty of time
but dont worry so much about editions
editions come and go and metas shift but as your collection grows you wont really give a shit how it changes
Roughly once every 2-4 years depending on how complicated or poorly balanced an edition tends to be
ima guess about 600 pages, I dont know my 10th edition rulebook is in my attic lol
Wtf thatās massive
Only super particular ones.
I'm a thousands Sons player and I can bring up to 1/4 of my army in the form of specifically Tzeentch Daemons as allies or I can bring one knight/a titan in really high point cost games. We are one of the only armies that gets a half decent souping rule here, most other factions get entirely screwed over
Nah 10th is massively less complicated
a big chunk is lore
then you got basic rules
then different game types
theres not so much in there its just a big book
9th ed for sure was that bad
You would literally spend like an hour before the game explaining your lists to each other before you even start setting up
true, Ironically I still play 9th, 10th was mean to my dark angels so Im sticking for 9th until my guard are put together
And god forbid your opponent played something like admech
Guaranteed by the end of the second turn you're like "I don't care what you activated, what buffs you got, how your rules work or how I interact with anything: just tell me which of my models are dead"
Or genestealer cults
yeah genestealer cult was bad
This already looks like one expensive hobby on itās way
only thing ill recommend, depending on if you have a group of friends to play or if you have like a club or a store you can organise, consider what you play just in case everyone else only plays space marines
As someone with like a grand of plastic sitting primed on a single shelf: it absolutely is, yeah
sometimes fighting the same faction over and over again can get pretty boring, from experience
yeaaaaah...
I bet itās worth it though
I Just spent £250 a couple days ago so yeah...
I have a friend that is playing astra militarum
Its something you've gotta now beforehand the entry cost is roughly the same as like a gaming PC lowkey
Is the paint the wallet drainer?
And brushes?
It honestly is and you can build up your army really slowly too
Trying to get a huge chunk of minis painted nicely quickly is a really easy way to burnout and hate the hobby
Much nicer to just take it a box or two at a time
kill team is good for that
Nah the minis themselves are really expensive
There's a lot you can do in terms of 3d printing to mitigate that and most people realistically don't care
But yeah the proper models are quite pricey
I found templar kits for like 100$ + - with like 7-8 minis and a dready
Unless you meant that
It costs a lot because you need a lot more to run a game?
yeah it costs alot to run a small army on its own
Yeah the value boxes (I think it'd be the combat patrol or boarding patrol) are usually your only chance at getting a big set of minis for a reasoable price
yeah
Or is that only the case for stuff like the adeptus titanicus
Yeah sorta, it also depends on the army, like GW don't price their stuff in game around the plastic costs necessarily
So you have armies like admech who unironically cost an arm and a leg bc a $100 box barely gets you 100pts worth of models and the smallest game size is generally 500pts
And armies like Custodes where a box of 3-5 minis can borderline hit that 500 point mark with the right loadouts
So some armies are just blatantly more expensive
painful guard noises
Yeah some of your minis are like one-off random purchases of one character
Especially for any kind of space marine faction its really rare not to have a named character or solo model sold somewhere
indeed
heres a fun example of warhammer costs, though I hope corpse starch doesnt see cuz I know he judges paint choice
Wtf???
And to keep this in persective the top 3 are actual minis
Naaa theyāre making hella bank with these profit margins
The rest is literally just paint
Ironically the combat patrols are the best money saver youll get
3d printing is going to put them out of business if their model doesn't change for sure
But they get away with highway robbery for now
Is the army set not worth?
the combat patrols youre normally getting one maybe one a half units for free
Any kind of value box is generally worth
But yeah some are better than others
Yeah the new ones are ass tbf
Ork one is okay if you like squigs and nids one makes a decent second half to leviathan box
but yeah rest are garbo
lemme have a looksy on the website it self and ill let ya know what is good
Oh yeah if you like tyrranids there has literally never been a better time to collect them
They have two excellent value box sets and a bunch of brand new sculpts on borderline their entire range
okay so for reference
the combat patrol for black templar is £95
no idea conversion rate yall can work it out
the 3 units, excluding the 5 intercessors you get, total up to £110
That's roughly 180 AUD so roughly 120USD head math
This is the exact math conversion I run in my head every time I shop online lmao
Everything in pounds
Looks like someones buying a 3rd printer in the future
Very smart call if you don't have a lot of disposable income
But jokes aside, do these boxes usually have enough points to meet the game requirements?
I feel like I get a lot out of the hobby bc I enjoy painting and have a tonne of friends who play but the value might not be there for other people
Maybe a good business investment actually
Combat patrol boxes always have 500pts of models
gimme a moment Ill have a look
Was thinking of entering that market
And the combat patrol itself forms a static army list you can use to play the combat patrol game mode
There is so much im trying to understand, cause im brand new
So you don't have to worry about building your own army as much as its like pciking a premade fighter in street fighter or overwatch or something, the army is just premade and ready to play in combat patrol and you don't customize any of it
Thanks for baring with me
Which is great for new players
basically what you do
buy a box of one squad
for whatever faction you think is cool
paint it up
if you think its cool and not ass to paint, congrats your army
if not try a nother set
once youre happy then work towards army building
Both is valid honestly it really depends on whether you like learning by doing or you're like me and pedantically research everything beforehand lol
pretty much
Combat patrol is good for getting your head around the game imo
It's the first time I felt like I had any idea what was going on bc I didn't have to invent a strategy for myself
When I first got into the game I bought the dark imperium box
and for the longest time my dark angels force was a complete shagfest
I just got given a set of tools and it was like "figure out how these beat the other guys tools: there is a way"
Yeah DA have a spotty relationship with balance
well to be fair it was more my unit composition
There is so much lore that itās hard to really decide whatās cool and nice
went against a chaos demons player for my first proper sized game and had my arse handed to me because I had no knowledge, so I recently restarted my dark angels to make a cohesive army, then they removed half the models
dont worry about lore honestly, too much to read, makes it hard to make decisions
I went with necs and templars cause theyāre easier to paint for a start
Also all the combat patrol rules and datasheets are free on the app so you can technically play without a rulebook assuming you can google one of the mission sheets
Ill stick to templars and see how the army develops as a learn, for now i need enough to run a game
Yeah necrons are hands down the best army for someone who wants a nice looking army but isn't a painter and doesn't really wanna become one
yeah, buy a combat patrol for either necrons or templar and some paints for them
necrons honestly got a nice combat patrol recently too
That giant spider walker thing is unironically stupidly strong in CP too
Not worth investing anything into killing it because of how far back it sits on the board and so you opponent has to kinda ignore it or essentially waste a tonne of resources dealing with it that are almost never worth it
Looks like i need another box
yeah outside of combat patrol you will need more
10th editions minimum army size is 1000 points
Necrons a strong af
though necrons might be better for learning the game
dont have to worry about mixed loadouts and things like that
Theyāre straightforward as it seems
Compared to other races
You can have different weapon/sword combos right?
(Templars)
Necrons already pre set what they can carry
indeed
plus who doesnt love the war of the worlds tripod of doom
It looks scary strong compared to a dready
its not the toughest, but its got a weapon called the doomsday blaster
which needs no introduction really
Just goes through anything im guessing
pretty much
Necrons are very fun to play
I wish they made it more affordable
In the RTS, i love em
They're my secondary army and quickly becoming my primary
basically you gotta find a local game store, sometimes they sell things for cheaper
Whatās your first?
Ultramarines
Im searching around since im out of town just to have a look
And by have a look i mean buy
indeed lol
I've also got a force of GSC, Tyranids and unbuilt Votann and Death Guard
I got a force of death guard and necrons I gotta sell at some point, lost interest in them over the phase of not wanting to play 40k
Why not keep em as decor
they take space
It's foremost a painting and building hobby for me, I play maybe 10-20 games a year
Im guessing a lot of space?
well small bedroom so anything takes alot of space
A lot of old projects from when I first started and didnāt really figure out how i was painting things
Question where are you from?
From lebanon
Need to buy another display shelf I feel
thats actually not so far, just wondered the viability of putting all this in a box with enough bubble wrap to suffocate an elephant and sending it to you
I love all this stuff btw, nice painting/ display man
Might be a little hard
I keep moving every 2 weeks
Cheers
yeah that would make delivery difficult haha
Where are you from?
The uk
Damn you is far
I think easiest thing will be if i pass by the UK if that happens
most likely
Valid
You got like a market place?
plenty lol, I could even use ebay
We have local apps here
Yeah, maybe you get lucky
Sell them for good if they re painted
things to consider for next year really, not my highest priority right now until I need the space
What weapons are on the titan? And are those terminators on the bottom?
It's a chaos knight, Abominant
Still looks pretty cool. Ik im gonna regret looking at my bankstatement 5 yearsfrom now once i start painting
It has only one weapon options but can't recall the names
warhammer is the best way to learn how to manage money lol
And yeah they're the old terminator models
The scouts vs eldar kill team box sold out in one hour lmao
people wonder why GW keeps raising prices lol
im amazed it sold out honestly
both probably
W
Another question
What about terrain
And the environment?
Do i have to be creative and use a tissue box?
Either buy what GW sells, buy 3rd party terrain or build them yourself
Just look at some examples how they're shaped and what size they usually are and you ought to be good with anything you come up with
Ty friend
tissue boxes, tp rolls, broken toys, styrofoam... anything with interesting texture will work
There's a lot of STLs floating about, both free and paying, on 28mm size terrains, if you have access to a printer and some time on your hands...
I guess only thing you need to be careful about is the scale. you don't want stairs with the size of your minis
Plus some good mdf terrain you can get from places
Damn, more things to buy
Next thing you guys will tell me is that ill need to buy the table
you don't need to buy anything tbh. your budget, your hobby, your creativity
people do super impressive projects basically from garbage
^
do I p[aint my morvenn vahl first ot my new SM captain
What're the preferred weapons for a Deff dredd? I wanted to go rokkit launcher because it fits the badmoons theme but I dunno what's best
Not bad! I'd recommend thinning your paint a smidgen more next time but he looks pretty good
I think it gets a choice between 2 melee weapons and 2 ranged weapons
The ranged weapons being a Big shoota,Scorcha, rokkit launcher, kustom mega blasta
Whatās even better is that it gets the heavy keyword on its main gun while standing still for an entire turn
So you basically just have some nice artillery at the back of the board that can take potshots at whateverās in range
I went for Vahl
I don't quite have the gold I want so she'll have to live with retributor and a highlighted drybrush
just make your own gold
Just
tbh it probably would have helped had I primed her silver instead of black but
ah well
hindishgt is 2020

I just got a box as well
Need to look at rules and my bits box for what to give them tho
My brothers Adeptus Imperialis Baneblades
Got myself a little Christmas gift
Nice š
They look so tiny lmao
But very good
Anyone know how to achieve that blood angels blonde hair color?
This one
The citadel guide doesn't say
yellow ochre, brown wash, naples yellow highlight, white highlight
Is yellow ochre around averland sunset?
They're so cute
I mean it can be? averland sunset has 15 different hues to it depending on batch code
but generally no
its closer to tau ochre
tau ochre is just purely worse
though
tau ochre is paler
and more brown
Ahh I see. I have Vallejo game bronze fleshtone. That seems close
could be, it contains yellow ochre
Merry Christmas eveš
Got some Tartarus Terminators and a Contemptor dreadnought from my mother today, big Christmas moment
Sweet
This thing oughta shred some loyalists.
Looks sick
30k is peak
FACTS
I think after I paint my Age of Darkness box imma get either Horus or Mortarion
Of course before he is cringe
Might be a crazy take but 30k is cooler thanks 40k
Get Perturabo.
And that battle force, or whatever it's called.
With the mk III boys.
And I realized that I left the lower part of the pauldron un-painted.
Just fixed that.
Nah itās a valid and based take
40k marines looks lame as fuck
I like the traitor marine look from 40k.
They're all individual units.
Unlike the primaris.
Horus Heresy marines have mad customization and you can make your army look unique with how many genuine helmet and armor options you have
Horus Heresy terminators look better too
Cataphractii supremacy.
They have the bulky build but the armor doesnāt make them look like they have scoliosis
I would do unspeakable things for some beakies
Real shit
Though the only terminators I have are the Thousand Sons one.
Wish the Age of Darkness box wasnāt fully Mk6
Tartaros pattern ones.
Yeah, mk III helmets are sick.
I do enjoy the Corvus Pattern tho
I like 40k thousand suns more than 30k tho
40k traitor marines all look better
The 40k ones are lifeless.
Yeah
Plauge marines gotta be the best looking one
Itās like everything was swapped 30k has better loyalists while 40k has mid as shit
40k has better traitor marines while 30k have mid loyalists
The berzerker helmets are top notch.
Raptors have interesting designs too.
40k doesnāt have sanguiniusš¢
L
It has Dante.
sanguinius is peak
30k blood angels is my dream army
Make it a reality
Iām BROKE
Iām doing half of mine as a home brew chapter and the rest as Sons of Horus (I love Horus before he was stupid)
I bought a knight and Iām still recovering
He can literally solo a warlock titan
Rip to the homie Fr
Heāll be apart of the blood angles army
Correct me if Iām wrong as Iām newer to the lore, doesnāt the blood angle legion suffer from sum like the blood rage or whatever where everyone they see is just Horus
The red rage and the Horus thing are different thing
The black rage
What armor is this
Looks kinda like MK V
Chest and helmet look like MK II
But the arms and legs look like MK VII
Nevermind, it's just MK II with different legs
Forgot what the MK II arms looked like
The fact people remember armor type and heres me not evem being able to memorise which legion/chapter has which number š
Well. It may be premature but im sharing this anyway, my first to latest mini. Since this Wednesday will mark my 1st anniversary since I started painting. I've learnt many things and have still so much yet to learn im excited to see where I will go in the future regarding the hobby. And what projects I will create to share
You missed a spot
I will, but I'm used to trying to spot mistakes from far away because of my job
So most won't notice
Unless they are weird like me
(its on the bottom of the foot on the toe in side the boot btw)
I see templars brother i upvote! For Dorn! For the emperor!
Glad you like :3
@floral wind always battlebrother!
Templars š¤ Crimson Fists
Always. For Dorn! For the Emperor!
The crusade will be eternal!
Ngl if my opponent was actively looking for mistakes on my miniature i would jump at them like a FNAF jumpscare
Finally had the "Aha" moment I needed for using contrast paint and making it not look like shit
Felt good to be able to manually work myself through what I was doing wrong and then have a solution click
Wow that army box looks so tempting
I actually really want that box. I hope its not too pricey
Dark Angels are eating well this Christmas
that Officer (captain?) looks so good, i may have to buy blood angels accessories, if they release it as a single figure.
Merry Christmas
Wow, I want them all š
Blud thatās belial
It'll be sold out before you ever get chance
I'm gonna preorder it through my local game store š
Got 2 knights to paint now
without airbrush
I bought a airbrush a couple years ago
Painted a Krieg Sentinel for when my Krieg dudes arrive it's nice and dirty. So refreshing to paint something muddy and scrappy when you mostly play eldar
Hey guys, another weird question, iāve been researching some stuff and im confused on if titans are for all the space marines or only for specific chapters(talking about the minis) (sorry for the stupid question/explanation, slowly getting into the lore and plastic hobby)
Look what I gottttt
Titans aren't part of any sm faction. They are their own thing within Adeptus Mechanicus and they have their own legions.
LETS GOOO
So
If i want to play titans
Titans or knights?
I need to look mote ar the admechs
Ohhh, yeah for adept us titanicus yeah they have their own legions, they can be associated with space marines and such but I mean nothing stopping you from painting it however you want
Painting it will be HELLA fun once i get my hands on one
But as in for the game itself
Can you place it with SM or is it as dreadly said, i need to have them with the admechs
uh, they cost absurd amount of points and you don't see them in normal games.
Well to be fair thatās because they use the models from what was forgeworld
They are big boys
Im gonna look up imperial knights point cost rq
500-600
Ik the difference between both titan and knight
But i want to see why theyāre so much stronger
Thatās fucking crazy
Things meant to put holes in titans are remarkably good at putting holes in smaller things
You too mr sloppy (:
my wallet š„²
Thank you person with Reze pfp
Very sloppy
I got a box of primaris Hellblasters for Christmas, but I want to make certain that I can put whatever gun on any of the models without it affecting gameplay. The sheet that came in the box has stats on the back that make it seem like each gun type has its own stats, but on wahapedia the entry for tenth (see pic) looks like the just get a generic plasma incinerator no matter which weapon model they actually hold. Anyone able to confirm if that is true?
the sheet is probably from 9th edition, in 10th all the stats were unified to one option
I got black stone fortress for Christmas and Iām glad the push fit models plastic wasnāt anything like what the starter pack had with the space marines and necrons
You got a cardboard box top put all your shame in???? Holy shit congrats
I mean honestly its a miracle, on one hand 3 attack bikes which are since extinct, and some cadian shock troops which gives me something to build over this week because theres no post until wednesday, which means I wont be bored out of my mind during my annual circulation of my entire family
In 9th edition the different weapon options all had different stats, one was standard, one was an assault variant and one was the heavy variant, but with 10th edition they were all combined into one, so the difference is only visual now, they all have the same stats.
you should trade them for more warhammer
nah I was searching hard for those attack bikes, gonna use them as a proxy for invader atvs if I have to but I really wanted those
My knight gave me a boo boo
What does this have in it?
Traitor guardsmen, rogue psyskers, chaos units and heroes
Finally got some Admech
3 down, 2 to go.
Do you need contrast paint to paint bug guys
I mixed up some parts in this one, so it may not look as good.
Dope dude
Nice cop, big fat man for the win
Pretty late and donāt got a photo of it but I got the Cadian defence force
Question for any dark angels players, I just got a box of Deathwing Command Squad. I want to actually build them as the Command Squad, but Iāve heard the Deathwing Command Squad may not be a thing anymore once the new dark angels codex comes out. If I go ahead and build the Command Squad, would I just be screwed and not able to play them with their current data sheet, if the new codex doesnāt include them?
Iām just getting into 40k and the thought of miniatures I just bought being made obsolete before I can even get them assembled, painted and on a board to play makes me extremely wary to invest anymore into 40k, if that can indeed happen.
So⦠Sisters proxying as Kasrkin, or as a Catachan squad for Guard?
I already run kitbashed space marines as assassins and want to try and work Sisters into my army to make it feel more āImperium Soupā-ish
I got 20 men for Christmas
Based and Auxilia pilled
super fun game
The Christmas haul
š„
Bro got the entirety of Cadia
I got no men
Can you proxy a knight dominus to 30k
Bro got enough men to actually save cadia
Think you got enough tank with your guard?
No
Okie dokie
You can use what ever paint you want
Contrasts are handy for painting small things quickly, so they're useful when you've got 120 little nids to paint
And update: The conversion helmets are on their way
they are transparent paints, so people use them for fake shading
Never giving GW money again
Soon
Love me some old as fuck deff dreads
so much character in them
I prefer them over new deff dreads due to the body shape and gangly limbs
Good shit man. Me and my gf are getting one too!
they stink up any room you put them in btw
As someone who sorta specialises in contrast paints (I tend to use them for the vast majority of stuff I paint BC they're so vibrant and aren't as matte and opaque as hobby paints tend to be, and then do a lot of dry brushing and metallics afterwards) they're usually best for anything with a lot of variance in surface size/height. So like, fur textures, feathers, rounded panels (not so much flat ones), skin/body colour, and stuff like that tends to be really good for contrast paints and nids basically tick every box for the kind of shapes and colour effects you'd wanna use contrasts for
Another Infiltrator down, slowly but surely improving!
Eyes are still a complete pain in the ass though
And just precise stuff in-general, tried edge highlighting and just ended up being too messy
I overhoard DA kitbash bits... and with the new DAs coming out, these guys are going to be filled
well technically its ultramarines and DA combined
Goddamn that's a lot of bits
vent hood, you can make one for like $40~ or buy one for like $70
i just open my garage door
I dont have the luxury of a garage
i forgort you live in nyc
building my newest knight
god the weapons are cool
nothing on the lancer but
acheron is peak
Gnarloc Riders all but confirmed now!
Progress paint scheme on the smol boi
From this angle you just look like an absolute behemoth holding a regular sized baneblade
Perhaps I am mwahaha
The smol boi
The baneblade and the baneknife
bad skulls
or death moon
I like your mind
Twenty Breachers and twenty more ready to be built
It's... Smaller than I expected.
it's the same size as the box dreads
Well, I've only painted regular marines and a squad of termies to this point.
This oughta be interesting.
Can you make it so it has a chaincannon and a missle launcher?
Or does it have to be a ranged and melee combo?
I need the dakka.
I'm not sure, but I think it can have a missile launcher
god I forgot how tedious and slow building a knight is
Now imagine owning an army of them :3
dreading doing the legs
What kind of knight?
Acheron
I forgot what the pattern of the tall knights was called
cerastus
right
The legs arent bad
I just used wads of sticky tack to hold em in place while I picked the pose
I'd confused the Archeron with the Asterius and was genuinely worried for you, it seems like an actual pain to build
Just made the mistake of accidentally painting emperors children when I was doing my own chapter
Casual idiot mistake
Wanted to do purple as the main body and white for the Pauldron/shoulder but thatās literally the Horus Heresy Emperors children shit
new custodie or votaan?, ork, kroot rider
oh you're a genius
although the crown/crest piece more lends itself to Gabriel
same w/ the wings
Thank you! I'm working on cleaning up my edges with the next coat, but here's a closeup
This is an older picture so they've come along since this was taken, but it's the only one I have this close
It looks really nice dawg lemme know when they are finished as Iām interested
Finally got back from abroad. Decide to finish this guy up once and for all. (Except for Basing and Varnishing).
Chaos time
The boyz are ready to get some print
theyre not the emperors children, theyre the emperors dad
That got a good hearty laugh out of me
So does anyone here have any kill team experience, specifically with the navy breachers, bit random but gonna be building some kitbashed tommorow so just wondered peoples thoughts on them
reddit naturally is like seeking advice from a raging inferno a pervert and a memer like a 3 headed hydra of varying degrees of mental trauma
The only kill team experience I have is putting together my Krieg
So I was planning on purchasing the cadia stand box but they raised the price.
I'm trying to make a Guardsmen army my first army, any tips or suggestions for buying models (Besides not buying from the GW website)
Almost doneš Any suggestions/tips on what I could do better next time?
Nice Marshal
Wouldnāt v2 make more sense
sure, if i was lazy and wanted a second red farsight to go with my actual farsight model
gonna try and do a sliding pose on the rock, maybe take the blossoms off.
plus then I can do a swordsmachine sword
"I am going to make Calth look like a tea party."
I just got a Knight, what should I put on top of the torso? I'm feeling the AA guns
What are the options
Looks like Icarus Autocannons, Ironstorm Missile pod, and Stormspear rocket pod
@patent bluff
what knight
Also, could anyone tell me what dreadnought pattern this is?
Contemptor?
that's a helbrute
but it's a boxnaught I think?
there isn't a redemptor/"primaris" chaos naught iirc
acheron is taking shape \o/
arms are built, head is built, half of one leg is built alongside body
getting clsoer to being able to pose this thing up
Hey guys, I'm new to the tabletop and haven't played a game. I bought a killteam of Kasrkins at a local convention a few weeks ago and am unsure of the formatting of killteam vs traditional 40k. Can I use my killteam as a part of a larger army, or are they strictly for skirmish matches?
Work in progress for some of my mk6 marines
They are not Emperors children btw, I just like purple, gold and white
Purple IS the best color
Real
Had to mix some white to get it brighter as the base color is way too dark for what I wanted
if you like it⦠then why not play emperors children?
needs shading
Those tiny dreadnoughts are so adorable
You can use them as guard for a larger army š
Warsmith Abaddon, Iām gonna get a different hammer head
Iām pretty sure killteam can be put into 40k armies no?
My bf is putting a bunch stuff on his figs and I love it. Literally no benefit other than ascetic and hom saying "I want them to look like a set when you put them all together" I love his creativity
I can get some clearer shots for the small details, but those "walls" on the very left with the big gun has bullet holes
Damn those go hard
Right??? And that's not even showing his space marines
Show me that space marine
He's been doing this for years and I'm just so happy he's having fun. He just started doing table top
Lemme find them one sec
I'll show you my fav
Aight
My fav
And I think k I look a photo of all the marines earlier here
There's also this one
Right?
Very interesting color choices
Correct
Almost time to paint
Swag
Eh same thing
