very few reds are opaque,, hobby paints are going to be naphthol which is garbage

i put a squirt or two of gorilla glue into my tamiya cement to make it less thin

that way it has that instant grip and it has that plastic melting power

Yeah totally fine, thats why the lil rock is part of it, once that's glued it'll hold really well, if the overall mini ends up top heavy you can normally fix that with magnets on the base

Having a bellicatus Missle array and the fitting Impulsor Plate for it here... i could cut the impulsor plate a bit smaller so that it looks like a stationary AA turret..... Would this be great as a "center objective" ?

I know virtually nothing about how playing 40K works so my input is probably useless, but I think that an AA turret would look quite nice for a center objective and actually would kind of make sense for it to be an objective as you would want to capture or disable an AA emplacement so it is no longer a threat to you aircraft.

That's the point of it... I just finished about 90% of my 3k pts Black Templars army... But what i noticed is, i'm currently lacking in strategic markers, terrain for the game plate etc... and now i want to "fix" those by making some own stuff and using also scrap parts etc. This has the advantage of generating more stuff and that my buddies don't always need to bring their entire stuff to a game 😅

And for me it's like:

2x sensor thing: base/home objectives
2x shield generator: flank objectives
1x AA "fortification": center objective...

So i can at least play a "Hammer and Anvil" game without any problems...

Alright y'all I need help making a big decision

From my ksons: do I branch out into daemons or CSM?

Kinda leaning towards CSM atm, I love daemons but each god's rosters are all individually a bit shit and there's precious little in terms of undivided daemons to make the big 4 feel special

Plus I actually wanted to collect emps children and I fw death guard a lot so it gives me an excuse to collect the others

I mean I can just collect both realistically its not like you can't soup daemons into your list for free anyway

Also your first 1 maybe 2 coats often look outright thin and bad, good coverage in one coat is super rare and it will often look ruined before the second coat cleans it up

Gotta trust the process

And also yeah avoid priming in black unless you really like the heavy shadow effect it provides, it's a lot of extra work to get a good coat on black and most of the time just painting over a light grey or white and then hitting it with the nuln oil pinwash will get much nicer results for less effort

They're great in melee I just find the concept so funny, its a Napoleonic cannon unit that's actively better when its not shooting

I love tzeentch daemons just because they're like a mix of what you'd find out of a whimsical fantasy world, mixed with an eldritch kinda feel body horror. Like you look at one of them and you just get uncomfortable.

I have a google doc somewhere where me and I mate sat in discord brainstorming unit ideas for new daemons I'll see what I can find

Most of its pretty generic but I came up with a sick one where you have a Djinn daemon that can't move a certain distance away from a lamp on a seperate base, and you can transport the lamp by attaching it to a unit before they move (Djinn can't move itself), but they've gotta be nearby the lamp at the start of movement phase for it to work. So you can just move the lamp around every time you move a particular unit and have it act kinda like a bodyguard, or you can pair it with a disc sorceror/disc tzaangor to move it around the board quickly and actively utilise it

And the Djinn is basically a chaos spawn statline with a couple of psychic powers (and generates cabal points) and so you end up with this kinda hyperelite borderline heavy support unit with a special gimmick for how it behaves

Also the lamp itself needs to be guarded because its 1 wound and really easily taken out if not positioned/protected well

But the Djinn itself is bullshit tanky and respawns at the start of your command phase every turn with d6 wounds

pretty new to 40k tabletop and something is kind of confusing to me: I got a leviathan box, and in the booklet that details how to put models together, it also has unit datasheets. However, they only list the units weapon stats. Apparently units also have abilities and keywords affecting their gameplay too, but none of that is included on the datasheets in that booklet, which are the only datasheets that leviathan box came with, afaik. Is there a reason the rest of the info pertaining to the units aren't on their datasheet? I googled one unit, the apothecary biologis, and found all the weapon info + ability info on wahapedia, I just don't get why all the info wouldn't be included on the actual datasheet itself though.

I never look for proxies on Etsy, I print my own so Etsy is kinda of cancerous usually, if there's STLs they're someone else's

but yea, on the topic of printing files. an STL is just a 3D model file standard like .PNG is for pictures, you can sell them but as soon as some people have the files they can just spread them around, so alot of sculptors taking a business model of "upcharging the honest consumer" and using FOMO

Take Heroes Infinite, they just released a collection of Dark Eldar proxies, you can get that whole set by paying for this months subscription of $15 USD I think for the whole set of the month, but once it's past the first month buying it could cost $80-120 USD depending on size of the set. Cheaper than buying units from GW, but expensive enough to encourage subscribers cause "Well I'm not planning a Bretonian army in AoS anytime soon, but I would hate to have to pay full price later for this month's knight set"
