Finally gonna start priming my models. I ordered chaos black because my friend recommended the spray.

Tired of seeing the plastic in areas I can’t reach with my brush without messing something up

Any tips one what to do? I know the basics of angel and not spraying directly on the model

What minis you spraying?

Generally it’s quite easy.

If for example you’re doing a space marine just ensure you’ve got them stuck down on like some old cardboard with sticky tak if possible.

Short sprays and keep the can moving, you’ll want approximately 15-20cm between the mini and the can.

Give it like 15 minutes to dry and have a look over the model and judge if you need to do another light coat.

Also after you’ve finished priming hold the can upside down and do a quick spray or two on some spare material somewhere, this keeps the spray from clogging up in the nozzle

Gotcha I’m a guardsmen main now days but I do more than 40K

Most models I do are about the same size as guardsmen though so it’s the same stuff

One thing worth noting is when building minis it’s sometimes with keeping parts off them and spraying them separately

Off the top of my head an Ogryn shield would just block a lot of spray if he was holding it

So would it be wiser in the future to just take the parts holder and spray all the parts instead of just the model when it’s built?

That’s a way to do it, I’ve done it like this when I painted my paladin

The problem you face there is you could damage the paint while cutting it off

I don’t think it would be super noticeable if I painted over it regularly with the model being mostly primed in the hard to reach places

Little disappointed I didn’t wait to start trying priming until after I had already painted a sergeant

Re-admiring this and I am just gobsmacked at how smooth the paint job on the metal is, the wiring is crisp and clean and the neatness of your paintwork is incredible

That you!! I really appreciate it =^.^= a lot of that smoothness comes from watered down layers, to do the wiring I’m doing that last. So the process would start with the back most colours then then do the wiring on top etc.

As for the metal effect it’s actually just several washes that I slowly layered up

I think it also depends on if you have a leader linked to them too.
A Commissar with Drill Commander and the Take Aim order in a squad of 20 sitting in an objective would be dangerous to deal with directly.

Crits on an unmodified roll of 5+, hits on a 3+, good for spotting for Artillery, high objective control.

Again, this is all theory crafting. So, grain of salt and all.

Practicality. While tanks are good, they are still limited. Limited to 3 of each tank type, and if they don't have Enginseers, they can't repair and they can be hit pretty hard.

I slathered white onto the spots as sloppy as possible then hit those same spots with tesseract glow. with the scarabs it ran into the cracks more than clung to any surface I wanted it to, so I went over the white spots with moot and it looked way better

Head you can put on as the helmet covers it later and you can add that on. All the armour can and should be painted off the mini

Make sure you put the exhausts on before the top carapace otherwise that’s a world of pain. And same goes for the heavy stubber and ion shield by the head. Put them on before the carapace

Set to create an adherent surface sol to form the transfer onto the mini and match the texture but the real secret to finish it off is a spray varnish to even out the reflectiveness and texture and to just protect it in general, it’s all in the varnish

Yes because you get an even coat and you wont clog the color and create brush stroked ect.

So long as the equipment and what squad is using what is written down and assigned clearly, everything is A-Ok as far as official rules go, right?

So if I have, for the sake of argument, a Commissar Ciaphas Cain model that's done up in Propaganda style (i.e. carrying the Bolt Pistol Commissars are famous for), he can still be carrying his laspistol and be actually using that.

Yeah I'd say like 95% of people you play with would be fine with it as long as it's not completely confusing or difficult to read

The answer is always "it depends". Some people will play What You See is What You Get (WYSIWYG) rules in which case you have to model the weapon you're using. This also varies depending on game store and tournament, so really you need to ask each time. I magnetise everything except my troops, mainly because I play T'au and think all their weapons look cool anyway so it's nice to have the option, plus their models are very easy to magnetise anyway.

Don't have the notebook nearby, but it was fairly even. Grots on a control point, got me an AMAZING 2 extra CP.

Played around with cover, learned the power of multimeltas, flamers on Overwatch at the center control point was amazing.

Big squads of space Marines are weak to blasting rockets. Who knew?

The thing is all Devastors and the main weaponry of Razorback works on long range

so while pushing with melee units towards enemy infantry i can flank any "Heavy armor" and since leman russ etc. got nerf in 10th edition towards cannons it should be possible to pass by those heavy armor

additional impulsor has missle array.. can be very annoying when dices are going well

Anyone got experience using nihilak oxide? I wanna try and use it for the runes on my rubrics guns but it seems to want to smear everywhere and I can't get it to flow into the carvings the way tesseract glow does, is there a way to thin it down and have it behave or is it just part of the effect to have the paint smear like crazy?

distilled water, do not use tap water with it the majority of the pigments used in it are synthetic beta copper and will have tons of issues if you do. Little bit of alcohol ethoxylate or 2-butoxyethanol to help with the flow(around 1%).

remember, its not designed to flow, its designed to be smeared. you can tell by its thickness.

If a custodes fails their armor save their aegis rule doesn't let them use the feel no pain on all saves right? Its just on saves that are mortal wounds. They can't just spam it everytime they lose a wound?

In 10th the aegis of the emperor rules states it’s against mortal wounds only

The exception to this are custodies wardens who get a once per game ability to give themself 4+ feel no pain against any wound for a single phase

Chaos trim are just the raised edges on the side of the armor panels. The brass coloured areas, if you look at my pictures above, are considered chaos trim

Abilities and stats are nearly the same
