It's easier to hold a handle than a mini base. All you need is a cube of wood or something a little more ergonomic and some blue tack/2 sided tape. Also yeah, lots of techniques and materials in this hobby should be prefaced with "try the citadel/duncan/slapchop method first, get some practice with basic techniques, use the more basic tools".

At least from what I've seen, corpse tends to recommend people get things that are better bang for your buck, since artist grade paints are often both better quality and cheaper than the overpriced hobby pots sold by Citadel for instance. So it's not like they are trying to push people into expensive elitist kinda gear. More just a general "don't waste your money on inferior hobby products when you can get better stuff for cheaper". The only problem I've seen in that advice is artist grade paints tend to come in bigger volumes, and not everyone is gonna want big tubes of paint sitting around that they won't end up fully using once they finish their handful of models that need it.

No I don't want you to buy my paint line, The cheapest tube I sell is $60 for a 15ml and that's genuine lapis Lazuli, and only gets sold to people in restoration. What I'm trying to do is get people to try out the professional stuff because it's A) better B) cheaper and C) genuinely will actually make everything way easier because of how things work in the ecosystem. Like wet blending is much easier with transparent paints, with opaque paints because they're mixed pigment you do not get mixed colors very well when it comes to the blend, for instance with purples If you're trying to blend it with a pink well if the purple is not made with quinacridone you're going to get muddy brown, as an example. There's also some weird things like, You're trying to go from a light blue to a dark blue with a blend well, this can turn really muddy and just look really bad if they're two different types of blue like a red shade and a green shade. Without knowing what pigment you're using, actually create more work for yourself. And with opaque paints since the majority of them have to have mixed pigment what's happening is you're going to get really muddy results in a lot of situations, which means you have to spend a lot of time and a lot of practice figuring out those paints and figuring out what pigments are in those paints subconsciously, to blend.

Your stigma is on the term professional, professional is a grade It has zero to do with what it's used for. Professionals don't even use professional grade, They use the premium grade, AKA the stuff I sell.
Student grade are what mini paints are, craft paints are also the same grade. If I called it studio grade, you would not know that it is also called professional grade, It's also called artist I'm just used to calling it professional grade.

Be careful with isopropyl alcohol and polystyrene, especially games workshop. I've had a lot of issues in the past where it will cause the games workshop polystyrene to crack if it's left in there for too long, or in some cases just completely crack after a couple years of sitting on a shelf fully painted.

What I use for bulk stripping, is LA's totally awesome. It doesn't really react to the polystyrene at all.

I personally just use the snips to get as flush a cut as I can, then file away any sprue marks with a rough, then fine file. Time consuming but I've not damaged a mini yet.

That mark should file away pretty well and be disguised once more paint is over it. If the gouge is especially deep you can use something like Green Stuff to fill it a touch and then it'll vanish under paint.

An online hobby store just started stocking duncan rhodes 2 thin coats line, and I went to look, but it's the same 30 eur cents/ml as GW paints straight from GW. The only advantage I see them having is being in dropper bottles, and maybe being more consistent in their behaviour. If we exclude profesional grade paint in this line of thought (because their price per ml blows other mini paints out of the water), how is this supposed to compete with other paint? Vallejo is still cheaper, and already established in many local hobby stores.

I think that is a good size

I'm not sure tbh I've used a lot of different sizes

if it's too weak just use a couple of them

and try to keep them in the middle so they don't attract to other models when playing

Right, so I was actually planning to reverse the plan. Glue strike plates to the minis and have magnets in the case to avoid that problem of minis sticking to each other. Was trying to judge how much gap, if any, there was from someone using a 2mm thick magnet.

Cause I've got a bunch of 1mm thick steel cut outs laying around.

First foray into using greenstuff. Got a massive pile of shame from a decade ago when I first tried to get into 40k. Been playing Kill Team recently and realised if I gave some crisis suits fusion blades (My favourite piece of equipment from back in 5th edition) I can run them using the Custodes rules.

If Farsight enclaves ever manage to get a full subfaction release I might even be able to play them in regular 40k.

You actually can have your sheath on the same side as the hand you intend to use the sword with, it's just not commonly done

unsheathing is also almost as easy as having it at the opposite hip
