Just finished posing my XV8 Crisis Suit in flight and loving how dynamic it looks. I was thinking of trying something with the proper base to try to make the sand "rippling" under the thrusters, so far the only way I can think of is thick PVA glue that I gently blow to form the ripples then slowly sprinkling sand on it, but open to better suggestions if anyone has done a similar effect

You can also make ripples using greenstuff or air drying clay, then glue the sand on top of that.

Ok, but a word of caution is that forge world models arent that great compared to the more traditional models. Since the models are resin instead of the polystyrene usually used they can warp and bend and require more work than a typical model. Its completely fine to have one otherwise but itll just need a bit more work

You got parts of the dread left? If yes use them to get used to paint things, try to grow on painting parts that are not really needed... and if this is not enough i recommend to buy a standard squad or so at the next possible moment and just learn to paint them before doin' the praetor ^^
Also i recommend to watch some tutorials on YT they are often helping out with "how to"

Worked wonders on my cultists but that is mostly due to abusing the shit out of different contrasts, but legionaires are pretty much just 95% black so it was totally shit idea

I mean, what some people suggest for CSM is to do the trim first, then fill in the panels with contrast. If you're referring to 30k, where iirc the space marines don't have a lot of trim, yeah, you get all the blotchiness and not many benefits.

For some reason i find it easier to be precise on the trim instead of the open spaces. Much more prefer having the black be under there and then just going 1-2 layers of trim on top of it instead of trying to do the base color without ruining the trim

a flush clipper, a few nail files, plastic glue, and an exacto knife. Never buy those hobby kits. They really suck, you pay a a lot for dogwater quality. For paints, professional fluid acrylics will be noticeably better than hobby paints. Brushes only buy from artist companies, not hobby companies. Hobby companies get artist companies to make them then charge 500%+ more
for cheap clippers, dont venture outside of Hakko or Xuron. Seriously
