The color match won't always be exact, but it should generaly be close enough. But as stated previously, try to move away from hobby paints eventualy. They are convenient since there is a lot of information and charts on them, but they are also a daylight robbery.

Of course, they are fine for that, the convenience is indisputable. But they also cash in hard on that and people believe those are the only paints you can use, which is not true. They also try to make you believe you need to buy their 7 slightly different shades of red, while you can just learn how to mix your own colors. Technicaly you could mix any color in existence with like 5 pots. Of course there is no need to go that far, but learning how to alter your red to make a slightly different red will save you a lot of money.

avoid getting anything with fluo colors in them

if you have sun on them at all, after a month it'll be faded if you used a uvl varnish, you have to lock them behind something.

From what I remember the Vallejo ones are a bit better but still have shit coverage compared to titanium white for instance

Hmm honestly I'd say the best thing to do there would be impasto maybe? In other words get a heavy body acrylic, something like a Matisse Flow might work and do deliberate brush strokes. That should give it enough texture that you can work from there.

It would be like using a texture paint yes. Thick, deliberate strokes from a dark brown, and from there use thinned colours to apply highlights etc.

I have no trouble with flat surfaces, when it comes to corners and tiiiiiiiiiny bits going from the flat surface to the armor is rough to paint

Practicing freehand will still tune your fine motor skills though.

It doesn't matter if its a flat surface or raised, the idea is to try and get your details smaller and finer as you go.

What you want is muscle memory control.

That would be my guess as well. You are supposed to do thin layers. So it does not even have a chance to pool. If you have too much paint, especialy thin watery one, on your brush, it just floods and runs out of control.

Little extra tip: if you want to have dusty parts on tank use a thin coat of wood glue and take some fine sand/ sand dust and this on the glue, works pretty fine... The Tiger I models from my father always looked stunning good (he made some WWII model building)
