Yeah, just checked codex again, Tau sept has the classic tan suit same as their warriors and just white helmet for the Shas'o, so my commanders would be the turquoise with a blue-grey helm.

Thank you, I sometimes will put a little Blood for the Blood God on my brush, and use a spare toothpick to "flick" the bristles at an angle towards the model for a more realistic blood spray. Sometimes it really works and sometimes it looks a mess, haha. It's one of those "A little can go a long way" style paints for sure

I have been 3D printing ever since the fan animation fiasco almost 2 years back. The detail is definitely there on 4K resin printers, which are pretty much standard these days, with 8K becoming more available as well. They still leave that "fingerprint" marking typical for 3D printing but that is either non-issue since it's not really visible from the intended viewing distance or easily remedied with a sanding stick and a bit of time (probably the same time it would take me to remove GWs mold lines.
It definitely helps I do not play the game an have very little interest in it, so tournaments are not a factor for me.

I think most of the Veteran's gearset is just a standard guardsman loadout. There's some extra bits and bobs and armor things like the knee plates and greaves, but that might have to be green stuffed

Kasrkins are the elites of Cadia - they wear Carapace armor. They'll have their own kill team kit coming out soon but atm i think its only a big box set.

Assuming you use Citadel paints, I'd give a nice coat of Contrast Warp Lightning to give more vibrant look. Then some patches of pink/red/Brown/yellow for the rotten flesh look. Then a solid 50/50 Ushtabi Bones + Nurgling Green dry brush.
Also, technical Nurgle Rot is awesome for... Well rot !
Careful with Warp Lightning though it IS super vibrant. If you wanna cool it, you can Always thin it with contrast medium

Damn, was looking for an excuse to take 4 Elysian lads as auxilia a friend printed so I can try to paint minis for the first time, was surprised they didn't turn out awful. Power of slap chop and contrast paints I guess

yep. Black primer, white drybrushing and then various contrast paints, me and a friend painted 6 of them during "how to paint minis" workshop. Now I just gotta save some money for good paints and practice on stuff the friend prints but has no use for so I don't ruin models

9e is probably like the best edition to be starting in
It's rather well balanced compared to prior editions and is as popular as the game has ever been, so you're likely to meet other new ppl as well
It's also really not that complicated
There's some mechanics I'd call 'unintuitive' but none I'd say are really complicated
