Righto, Well off the top of my head You'd want at least 1 Tank commander Leman Russ, perhaps maybe 4 or 5 Leman Russ (Demolisher or Battle Variant. Up to you) and then either a basilisk or two if you want to be able to pick and choose targets at range with artillery or a Rogal Dorn if you want something to be able to breakthrough

To be fair, Might be worth waiting on the codex and see what works from there

My TC is the Vanq as it does not need the orders and I use Expert Sharpshooter so having a reroll on that single shot is massive.

you're using bad white, its actually a chemical thing

no hobby white will be good because the root issues with it are A) too high of a zinc content for shelf stabilization and B) Fumed Silica and Kaolin, both caused some problems with titanium dioxide

Golden SoFlat will be the hobby painters dream thing, though i'm not personally a huge fan. Its still nice. Also shout out to ara opaque white, but thats hard to get in the US

I personally prefer opaque white ink from holbein, but this is expensive and hard to find

100ml bottle is like $20

118ml from golden soflat is like $11

They have engine grime, which is somewhat similar (if you lay it on without rubbing it away or thinning it). It is an enamel paint though, thinned with mineral spirits instead of water.

Typically AK weathering products are reductive instead addative, but if you just want to slather it on as is that doesn't matter. Just remember to have some mineral spirits or turpentine to wash your brushes (preferably not your finer brushes).

I use phthalo blue and ultramarine, I find it to be vastly easier to do those effects because they are transparent, which is what those guides are kind of shifting you towards anyways, you need to get the paint so thin it becomes transparent.

just mix brown paint with baking soda. No joke, thats all typhus corrosion is. Fun fact, if you do it with inks, when they dry the baking soda recrystallizes and creates randomized corrosion layers.

Depends where you live. Ive seen shadowvault box sets drops on ebay late night eastern time. Last week someone sold a batch for 150 each. (its sold out everywhere and copies go for 250). A single kasrkin squad can be sold for 80. (kind of sucks)

They can actually be used, if mixing a little IPA into them doesn't fix it, crush it up and add a little deionized water to make a paste, then add in medium and a very small amounts of soap.

you're basically using the dried paint as a low quality pigment at that point, it works but it has a bunch of additional solids in it. The soap is just a house hold thing and not really that great, I dont expect people to have wetting agents laying around like orotan or oxgall. Do you need the surfactant? Yes. It's a requirement.

yes, it has to do with reducing surface tension so you can have a smoother coat of paint

soap is bad, but it works in a pinch

it causes other issues though, so going to a craft store and getting golden wetting agent/aid is recommended but it can be a bit tricky to find at times

It's very worth it in the sense of streamlining work process. hyper fast and even base coating with the added benefit of quickly doing zenithals for helping establish highlights. you can also save TONS of time blocking in smooth color gradients for primary color parts of your army; which frees up more time to get in there with a brush and do up the details. The only trap (subjective) i've seen are folks using the airbrush to sloppily apply glows that make zero sense instead of properly painting OSL

Yes but you also need safety equipment for them as most pigments are highly carcinogenic and the thermopolymer binders are another risk too. Also the cheapo airbrushes are bad, they cause more issues.

Best part is that you don't need to paint the whole thing in one colour

have the mining world colours the main colour, but at like the odd corner here and there have some of the cadian green peeking through

Technically managed to make a balanced terminator kill team for it

just modified heavy intercessors

heavy intercessors when they’re hotdog water and are constantly outshined by Phobos kill team, who’s also more outshined by the basic ass intercession kill team

Though the intercession kill team is quite simple and effective for beginners, but gets outcompeted by more experienced players

So it’s perfect to get new people into the game, and even if outcompeted, can still perform effectively when used properly
