I have a question about the kill team starter set (guard vs orks). The starter rules don't say anything about list building (I guess that's in the big book), so how should I build the kill teams? Magnetize options for when (if) I get the bigger rulebook, or are some options not worth it?

I think the new killteam let's you only have 1 squad type? When it first came out you could have primaris marines and first born, but I'm not sure now.

Yes and no. Now there are so called "Fireteams" That are made up of one specific unit type

aka Intercessors, Tactical marines, infiltrators etc

I want to make sure my sevatar model is not yeeted by the ruinous ones. I was thinking remove his bits from holder but keep the big bit on the feet, soak for 10mins in soapy water and then gently scrub with old toothbrush.

Lots of options, but the starter rules only have very specific missions (Guard have 2 troopers with X, one with Y, orks have Z), so I don't want to pidgeonhole my minis by building them in a certain way

For killteam you work with fireteams and strike forces. A strike force consists of 2 fireteams. Each fireteam can be different from the other as long its the same faction.
So for guard you can take normal guys and veterans, vets being with lesser models.
Orks go from boys (melee and shooting) to a heavy weapon team, special weapon team etc.
If you want to build your forces how you want them, then uou should try to get the Killteam Compendium. It contains all the potential forces you can think off. Be sure to read up on the errata for those foces, because some things have been changed.
As for how to build your mini´s, play a game or 2 with proxies, and then build them how you want them according what you liked and such.
Other method is to magnetize everything (can become expensive fast and very time consuming)
Last option is just to buy a box or 2 more (just the foce you want to collect) and build those out. Or even buy a start collecting, should have multiple options.

Time consuming yes, but expensive? 1.5mm magnets are around 17 cents a piece if you buy them in bulk (over 140).

Also, the starter kit aren't standard boxes, but the kill team specific ones. If it were standard kits, I wouldn't even have enough weapons to make every dude a specialist.

You only go up and up, when I started I glooped a bunch of green paint on my orks so they look very blocky and round, always keep the first mini you paint even if you don’t like it, serves a reminder from where you started and the current point your at.

In HH no models bigger than a dreadnought is allowed. Also being mostly marines it's a bit more easier to balance around. Not sure if knights even will be able to play this mode tbh, only armigers or war dogs if even those

THO ! they are still allowed to serve until death

Leman Russ new stats :

• Chassis : still moves 10" and T8, save 2+, but now has wounds count of 13, and 5 attacks in combat (still 6+ to hit).
  They are all BS4+, but turret weapons get +1 to hit.

• Demolisher cannon : same as now, heavy D6, but damage upgraded D3+3.

• Nova Cannon : heavy D6+3, damage 2, ignores light cover, rest unchanged.

• executioner : STR 8, AP-4, damage 3, and always on overcharge.

• exterminator : heavy 6, STR 8, AP-2, damage 2.

• battlecannon : heavy D6+3, STR 8, AP-2, damage 3.

• punisher : heavy 20, STR 6, AP-1.

• Vanquisher : heavy 1, STR 14, AP-4, damage D3+6, ignores invulnerables, D3 additional mortal wounds.

The Democannon is what I did math for since its like. The only one I see ran rn

Hey can someone explain mighty blows for me? Is the damage calculated per attack? For instance a Bloodthirster has 8 attacks, and I roll a 4 for damage, is that 4 damage per attack?

Agreed! It's the perfect springboard for it. I guess the main drawback for the ultima founding as a basis is that the chapters tend to be very young, and so won't have the thousands of years to get all strange and have lore shrouded in mystery and the like, unless they go with the whole time acting weird route

Well one of the things they did as what a lot of the chapter leaders or senior council are like from the older chapters

Blood Angels introduced the culture to them readily, via adding chaplains and apothecaries from all of the older succesors

Same with Salamanders by sending out chaplains to teach about the promethean way

And if the Space Marine game series goes well

Itll be another example of a lieutenant or captain becoming a chapter master by leading several hundred new primaris marines

I hope that is the plan still anyway for Titus’ story

Void Dragon is cheating cause it's probably the nicest mini they have ever made. All the C'tan are gorgeous, but the Void Dragon is just... Hauntingly angelic.

For SK, I am used to the necro face thing at this point. I've learned that the faces usually determine the broad type of necron. So normal faces often indicate no real technomancy, fairly stable, standard necron. I think that fits for the lord of all necro lords. I just wish is D R I P was better.

If I ever add on to my necron army and slap ol Silent boi in, I might snip up some fabric from a local hobby shop and make him some Egyptian-style robes and fineries.

Necrons are fun af but this ed. they're not nearly as enjoyable as previous editions, even if they are stronger. Necron fluff and crunch both got their legs broken. They're only strong because they're given a hovering laserdeath wheelchair

If you get into TT you can very cheaply, actually. Tabletop Simulator has a very active 40K TT community

I recommend looking into 8th ed, but many play 9th and it's not that 9th is the worst thing ever, it's just... There's a good reason why it's been fairly controversial.

I would attach the gun to the right arm first (because the pieces are made in a way where it's hard to go wrong), then when that's dry glue arms to the body. I'm using this https://www.reddit.com/r/LeaguesofVotann/comments/xmrlax/hearthkyn_warrior_promo_model/ link as reference material. It might be harder to paint the mini if you glue the arms to the body before painting though, judging by the last pic on the reddit post.

Outside of the Van Saar gang they didn't until really recently when they added an entire "outside the hive" supplement to the game which is supposed to be expanded on even further going forward. There's rules for that thing above plus some other vehicles like the GSC vehicles and tauroxes and stuff and on top of that an entire ruleset to mad max kit bash whatever vehicle you want that's similar to the old Ork looted wagon rules. It's actually really fun to play with but necromunda's community seems to be in a bit of a decline these days most places I've seen.

All nice and dandy, but what I learned the last weeks watching tutorials, is get the basics right, learn the techniques. There is no shame if the first minis are far from perfect. At some point you start to experiment and get a feeling about what works and what not. These pictures look good, but the person behind them probably has painted hundreds of hours to get there. Don't focus on that, it will kill your motivation, if you don't get the results you expect

Haha the necrons do interest me. I like the idea that their just asleep until someone lands on there planet and then they try and kick them off. At least that’s the little Lore I know. The Tau I think are cool because they are long range and have tons of races. Chaos for me I think just look cool and it would be neat to dedicate an army to a particular god. If that’s possible.
