So I have a question. I'm going to be starting my space marines with the Dark Angels box. clean 500 points and will probably move up to 1k after, though unsure of how long. I was recommended by my friends to just put on Plasma for the Inceptors and proxy them as Bolters, because once I move up to 1k I'll be using plasma. Since I dont want to buy new models, and this is my first army and Idk how to magnetize. that a good idea?

plasma generally speaking is usually the better option. points-wise it is more expensive to field the plasma inceptors than the bolter ones. but it is worth it build with the plasma and then if you want to use the regular bolter, just let your opponent know before the game that you are running it as that weapon.

I also feel like it would be a waste to learn to magnetize, do it on them, but then as soon as I switch to 1k I put on plasma and never switch them again

If I wanted to get into collecting/painting minis, where would a good place to start be? A kill team box? A patrol?

Patrol boxes are good, they come with an army ready to play and they usually have a nice 30% off compared to if you bought every mini by itself

If you want to just get the hang of it, I think most GW stores will give you one mini to paint for free

I could use some impute on something I'm trying to do.

so I'm trying to make a real equivalent to a imperial guard regiment kind of making it home brew with a few altering aspects and such

in short my regiment is going to be a Light Line cadian infantry regiment. I was curious what transport should i make to be my standard, the taurox or the chimera? I understand that the chimera is the standard across multiple regiments, but every regiment is also different such as is mine. I just want to see what people lean towards I guess? I personally like the taurox a bit more compared to the chimera but I want this to be practical; like it could be legit used within real battles in a Warhammer universe as well as tabletop.

Any feedback is helpful!

Do they have the same capacity? If so, I would be leaning more towards the taurox, simply from an aesthetics point of view, because the chimera looks similar to other tanks, and the taurox looks like a troop carrier. Both vehicles cost the same irl, so that shouldn't be a factor. I can't comment on their tabletop performance though, not a guard player.

Taurox are faster but weaker and more expensive

Chimera has a capacity of 12 and Taurox 10

I'd probably go with Chimeras

or have chimeras as the basic troop transports and taurox for some more elite units or leaders

because Taurox do look quite cool

The lore for my homebrew Knight House is that during the Heresy, the patriarch of House Vitallus was near death during battle against House Korvax, only for the Aquilan Shield to intervene. Ever since, House Vitallus has opted to paint their knights in the iconic gold and red color scheme of the Custodes, and answer whenever they call. Basically a house of Custodes simps.

There's been a lot of commentary from people that are GW's external playtesters that GW only play tested the votann codex in house to keep it as secret for as long as possible, and GW's track record for balancing anything purely in house is absolutely abysmal

What i did for my Night lords. Decided to go a bit ham for my master of executions. Gave him abaddon's sword. Because i made abaddon into a duel lightning claws termi lord

For the head, I took a warcry mini's head and decided that I could cut it up to use one part of it as the base of his neck and the other as the skull visage.
